Fresh out of high school, Isaiah Wright has no clear goals for the future and a pessimistic mentality. He hesitantly starts his job search in an attempt to please his mother, Cynthia. One of the numerous applications he sends in is to a company Joshua Moore owns that manufactures exercise equipment. Joshua mentors Isaiah, first encouraging him to have a more responsible attitude on life and then bringing him to a Christian men's organisation called the Forge. When a crisis occurs within the organisation, Isaiah's dedication to his newfound responsibilities is called into question.
