Welcome to big D energy live on the Woodward Sports Network. I am flannel Sam filling in for Neil Rule and the man to my left is the great Sean Bellisian filling in for Darren McCarty. We got KG in the audio booth and we got Spencer Raxter in the TV booth. Hello to you too, Spetti. Such a say hello. It's, you know what, I was just about to mention that. Thank you guys in the chat for sticking with us through a not a victory Friday, not even close. I know these aren't the easiest shows to listen to and are always the easiest shows to do. But we got to do them. We got to have a little bit of a therapy session. And I think that when it all evens out when everything plays out everything will be just fine. We'll keep telling ourselves. I'm terrified. I'm, listen, I'm, I said this to the guys as soon as I walked in today. I don't know how you guys feel. I am terrified of game number five for a myriad of reasons that we'll get into. Yes, if you're going to go into game five, you'd rather have the best picture in the world at your disposal than not have the best picture in the world at your disposal. But I'm terrified. I'm not going to, and listen, it's kind of funny. We were talking about this. If you don't mind, if you don't mind, flannel, I'm going to bring up a story. Sure. A lot of Michigan fans told themselves no matter what happens this year. Okay. I'm basking in the glow of the national championship. That's a fine idea that it is. It's a fine idea. I'm with you. But as flannel admitted to me all about 10 minutes ago, that's all it is. It's an idea because then you start to see the new and then you start to get your hopes up or your hopes dash or anything like that. And I've heard a lot of people use a term like this. Okay. I'm not worried about it. The tigers are just playing with house money, right? How many times have you heard somebody say something like that? Bullshit. We're not on Fox. Are we spending? Nope. No, sure. Not today. Like, sure. Bullshit. Yeah. You're here. You want to win. I'm not going to sit back tomorrow night and go, "Golly, gee, that was a great run." And all the sky is the limit or anything. No, I'm going to, I'm going to be pissed off, right? You're here. You, it's the, here I go, Indians. It's the Cleveland Guardians. You, you want to beat them badly. So I'm sorry, I, I'm with you. I, I, I'm going to use your theory that you just brought up a few minutes ago. I, I'm with you, dude. I'm not going to take that tack, the house money tack. I'm not. You go win the damn game in Cleveland. The only thing that I will say about that is clearly to me, it's obvious that more of the pressure is on Cleveland. Not just this team this season. It's organizational pressure. They were the division winner. They did get home field advantage. And they haven't won a World Series since 1948. I know the Tigers it's been a while too, but you look at Cleveland. They came, they went to the World Series in 2016 loss. They went in 95 and 97 loss. They followed the World Series appearance with a 21 game win streak in 2017 and didn't get the job done. So as much as I agree, I'm not going to, to be watching it with the lens of house money. There's still more pressure on Cleveland. Oh, there's no argument there. There's no doubt about it. But I always say this, there are generations of fans, okay? And you're included. All three of you guys are included, right? I know you're sick and damn tired of hearing about 1984. Oh, big facts. Hey, wow, there's another 1984 reunion. While those of us that were of age were going, oh, it's so cool. Oh man, the memories 35 and five and all that stuff. You guys don't want to hear that anymore. There are generations now of Tiger fans that don't know what it's like to win a championship. There are. And because of that. Yeah, I think there's a lot of that that is kind of floating around the room. I mean, really, what's the difference if you're a Cleveland, a young Cleveland fan, or your flannel Sam or your KG or your Spencer? What's the difference between 1948 and 1984? You guys have never experienced it, right? I mean, for some of us, a lot of us, we saw, I say it all that I was so sick and tired of hearing about 1968. I knew everything about a freaking team that won a World Series before I was born, but it was crammed down our throats. I know you guys are like that. My sons like that. My son, we had season tickets for years and he was like, are they doing something 1984 again? And how on earth could I blame them? So yeah, I want your 1984, your generation. You guys, I want you guys to see your own 1984, damn it. That means 2023 Michigan's pretty cool. I'll just say that, 2023 Michigan is pretty cool. And we're going to break down the game a little bit more in the coming segments, but I just got to read this from just a fan. I think he was directing this at Neil, but I think I could be a little bit of a liaison for us to break bread. Question for the experts of WSN. How did the Guardian score their winning run? Was it a bunt? I was told buns are no longer a part of baseball. Was I lied to by the experts? Here's what I will say. A lot of tone in it. I am philosophically against bunting the way that Neil is. I will say that I don't like it. I never like it. Same. However, I do have to acknowledge that that squeeze play worked. But what you have to acknowledge is that that was not David Fry's biggest blow of the night. He also had the go ahead to run Homer. So, bunny worked, but David Fry's value to that game was a lot more than just that squeeze play. I don't like giving away outs that just don't, you know, for every time that you could say bunting worked. I mean, we could play this game if you want. We could talk about where it didn't. How about the pop up bunt to torque at first base? I mean, those are the types of things it worked for them. They played it well, props, and again, that's part of the reason why I'm not going to lie to you. I'm a big baby right now. I'm a big goo goo baby. I'm terrified of game five. Terrified of game five, because Cleveland is a team that can manufacture runs like that. And listen, I'm going to say it now. Tarek school is the best pitcher in baseball. We all know it. Okay. What is the likelihood he can continue this? And what I mean by that is exactly what he's done this postseason. I mean, 13 innings he hasn't given up an earned run. What is it? Seven hits. It's insanity. Okay. What if he goes out just has a good outing? I hate the term, by the way. Can I just a small tangent for a second? Quality start is such a bad term. I'm sorry. I can't stand it. It drives me out. There's nothing quality about a four five ERA. A guy goes out there for six innings, gives up three runs. What if what if he goes out there gives us six solid innings and only gives up two runs? Okay. It might be a two one game. That's what's terrifying about the prospect of this. And then we're going to have to deal with people. Some of the lesser's out there. No, just go over this business game. What the hell happened? And it's just like, oh my gosh. Those are the things that my brain's thinking about before game five. Well, and that's where we have to really set our expectations of Terrick School. Because to me, if he goes out and throws six innings and two earned runs, that's more than doing your job after 13 innings in a row of shutout baseball. It's just that's where the Tigers bats have to come alive. And I'm confident that whoever that Cleveland throws out there, whether it's Matthew Boyd or somebody else, that the Tigers can scrape across three or four runs. Because they have to. You have no choice. At that point, there's no excuse. You gotta, you can't let, and I'm just going to use Matthew Boyd because we don't know. And that's how their rotation would go. If it's Matthew Boyd and you let him shut you out again, four and two thirds, that's on you. Matthew Boyd was never good in Detroit. And I talked a lot of crap about him before the start and he shut me up. But don't let him do that again. No way. It's Matthew Boyd. It's inconceivable. I mean that, but how many times have we seen it this time of year? I mean, Brian Cashman and the Yankees. How many more times do you have to see? I mean, this incredible run that the Yankees have had, by the way, which I haven't won a World Series, but how many times have we seen the Yankees go into a series where pitching is their mortal enemy, right? And I mean, we've seen it. We've seen it work against them and their pitching staff hasn't exactly worked. So I've always sat back and said, nobody tell Brian Cashman that he should probably invest a little bit in pitching because it always seems like it's their downfall. But this is the time of year. Everything gets tighter. The weather gets colder. I mean, what do we say in the springtime flannel? How many times do we hear? Oh, don't worry. Tiger bats will warm up. It's a weather warm up. Well, guess what? It's October and it's cold in a lot of these places. And you're just going to have to find a way to grind across two, three runs to find a way to win a game, man. Absolutely. And you know what? I'm going to be a little bit more optimistic when we talk about it in our later segments, because I think they can get it done. But did you know that there's a sport called football that's being played right now? Have you heard of it? They play with like a pigskin. They go down the field. They're it's a hundred yard field. There's passing. There's running. There's blocking. There's tackling. Do you remember that sport? I probably watched less of the NFL game last night than I've watched an NFL game in many, many years. It was like the Tiger game was over. Then I was all dialed in with with the hockey. And I'm going to flip it up and I just turned it off. Like honestly, I had no and I'm usually all in on Thursday night. And now not last night. It's amazing how that works out, isn't it? Yeah. And I guess I can say that I wish the Seahawks would have won. I think moving for the 49ers are obviously going to be a bigger threat than the Seahawks. But right now, I just I don't even care that they got the win because last night, it was just so irrelevant given what else is going on. And yeah, one thing, the Lions, they have a game against the Cowboys coming up. And we're going to do a lot more previewing as the show goes on. But news just broke and I know it's going to absolutely break Spencer Rexter's heart. Maybe not. We'll see how it goes. But Kirby Joseph is on the injury report. Yeah. Hamstring. Questionable. Hamneys are not to be trifled with, man. It's just time and time. It's so funny because I think a lot of times people, oh, it's no big deal. Yes, it is a big deal. And it can remain a big deal. You know, even if you're cleared, how many times have you seen it? The dude just takes off and takes that first step. And all of a sudden he comes up and is feeling the back of that leg. So let's hope it's nothing serious, but Hamneys are nothing to be trifled with, man. Of course, I got to get Spencer Rexter's input on this because you took a titanic level victory left about Kirby Joseph first play the first four weeks in the season. And rightfully so, by the way. But at the very least, if Kirby Joseph doesn't play or is hampered, it might hurt the leading the NFL and interceptions run. Yeah, yeah, definitely will. Hopefully he can play. Hopefully it's nothing too bad. Hamstrings are always a thing. And like, I didn't even know Carrie got hurt last night. They didn't say anything at the game. Wow. And so on the broadcast. Jake Rogers as well. Yeah, I didn't hear either of those injuries when we were at the game. But Carpenters was also a hamstring, I guess. So, you know, yeah, like Sean said, those are nagging injuries, man. You got to take care of them, make sure 100%. You can't go back out there when you're still injured or they'll just get worse. Yeah, and KG is a Kirby Joseph potential absence. Is that like a difference maker in terms of potentially swinging the game from one side to another? Not in this particular game because I just feel like the Cowboys just don't have enough. But ultimately, yes, because Kirby Joseph has been one of your better ball Hawks all year. I think he accounts for most of the defenses takeaways this season. So you need a guy like that definitely on your back end with a new secondary that a lot of teams are testing. I mean, TA, he's been getting flagged a lot. A lot of teams are coming after him and Carlton Davis, man. So you would love to have Kirby back there, but I'm sure they can find ways to supplement it, especially with Brian Branch being back in the fold. You brought up such a great point, KG, because I always say this. If guys like us are seeing this, what do you think the Cowboys are seeing in the film? Of course. They are looking at this. They are licking their chops. They know what they do well. They know what they don't do well. They can't run the ball. OK, so I mean, this might be, for all intents and purposes, a Mike Mart special where he just sits back and says, "Why would I run the ball? Why? Let's throw the ball all over the place." And a scenario like that. I'm with you. I don't think they have enough. I don't have that fear of the Cowboys. I hope you guys aren't reminding me of that on Monday. But I just don't have that fear of the game at all. Looking ahead to this one. Yeah, and I would say for the most part, I agree. It's just that Kirby Joseph to me, especially if if he is still out as well. It's-- he's a difference maker. He's shown himself to be a difference maker. He's led the Lions and interceptions, wired a wire in his Lions career, and his coverage has been absolutely spot on this year, dealing with a better secondary around him. But coming up next, we talked a little bit about the Tigers' Guardians game for last night, but we're going to get into the nitty-gritty of the game. But first, tell us about Dispo. And yeah, there was a playoff game last night. The Detroit Tigers dropped game four of the ALDS at home to the Cleveland Guardians by a score of five to four. And Sean, before we talk about game five, before we really talk about what this means moving forward, what were your initial takeaways from last night's game? Missed opportunities. Really, a lot of missed opportunities. And those are the ones that kind of tick you off. I'm going to say it again. And you were telling me this morning, people, Stephen Quandz has stood, man. So good. He is an absolute, you know, that kind of stud that you begrudgingly. You don't admit it, verbalize it. But in the back of your head, you're going, gosh, damn it, I wish we had a Stephen Quandz. In the meantime, your curse in his name left and right. But a lot of missed opportunities. And that stinks. And I think one thing on a personal level, I think a lot of people were having some fun at the expense of Detroit fans is a guy who was at all those playoff games in the previous era. And I'm not going to go back and wax poetically about it. For people nationally to question how Detroit fans show up. Spenny, I know you were at the game. It's off the hook, man. It really is. Some of the craziest nights that I remember being at games happened to be at Comerica Park during the playoff. So to me, that was good that we had the two games there. But yesterday, and I hope I'm not looking back at this on Sunday morning going, gosh, damn it, what might have been. I hope we're looking ahead to a series against the Yankees. But a lot of missed opportunities yesterday, man. A lot of missed opportunities. And that's what ticks me off. Yeah, they're most certainly were. KG, what are your initial takeaways from last night's game? They didn't play bad. Cleveland just played better. Your young guys, at this point in the season, you got to just trust that they'll make the place to get the job done. And they did leave some plays out there, man. We talked about it earlier. You know, the Torkelson misrunning the bases, the wind seal Perez drop at the warning track. Trace Sweeney had multiple opportunities to break this game open. He struck out a lot. So I mean, it just is what it is, man. Cleveland is in the playoffs too. So we can't discredit what they've done to this point. But I'm not necessarily worried. I mean, they can bleed like we can bleed. And we've shown that. So you got the best picture in the world going to game five. This was the whole reason why you didn't pitch schoolboy in game one. So you can have them just in case this happened. So this is best case scenario in my eyes. That man is waiting. Yes, sir. He's waiting. He's going to wait for the Guardians in Cleveland in game five. And a shout out to Matt Broder. I see you in the chat as well. Hope you're doing well. Always good to see you in the chat, but a spendy. Your perspective as somebody who was at the game. What are your takeaways from last night's loss? I mean, they weren't getting the hits when you needed them. They didn't nobody really stepped up to give you that clutch hit. McKinstry had that home run that was huge. That was probably the clutches head of the game. But when you had like KG said, there was a couple guys trace weany one of them with opportunities to kind of blow the game open. And they couldn't get the hit when they needed it. And that's what it comes down to in the playoffs. It comes down to getting hits with runners in scoring position. And they couldn't take care of business. The defense was was good except for like the one like you said, the Wenzel Perez play where he dropped out the warning track. But then Colt Keith came right back and made a great diving play at second base to kind of make up for that. So they didn't score any runs off of that. But I just you need someone to come through with a big hit. When you're up by one, you got a couple guys on. You need someone to rip a double down the line and make that a two, three run lead and they couldn't get that done. It's a missed opportunity. I think all three of us. It's funny. We all set it in three different ways. Yeah. I mean, honestly, it was a lot of what it could have should have didn't. And you know, the magic that has been going on with this team. And there's no other word to use to describe it. Okay. I mean, at some point in time, we're all going to have to take a step back and go, how the hell did all of this happen? I don't want to have that conversation yet. But, you know, we're accustomed to during the course of this last month and a half, having somebody and pick a name any night. It's almost like, all right, I'm going to pull a name out of that. All right. It's Matt Verling's turn tonight. Somebody steps up and provides that magic. And you just couldn't go to that. Well, one more time last night. No, I mean, how the hell did Jason Hayward's line drive land right into the glove of Spencer Torkel said, how the hell did David Fry's land right into the glove of Matt Verling? Although he made a nice play still. That's luck, I would say, in some ways. But you know what? Every team that makes a run needs some things like that to go their way. I am not mad at last night's performance. I understand that there are the runners in scoring position one of 11. That can't happen. I mean, you saw it in the first inning when Parker Meadows led off with a double and Kerry Carper and Matt Verling, nor Riley Green could get him in. You don't like to see that. That can't happen, especially if they're going to win game five and then make a run in the ALCS. I understand that. But to me, it's more about Cleveland and what they did. I'm looking at Cleveland. I'm looking at a team that won the division that has a lot of big time players themselves and have a manager who is very good at what he does. And I'm going to start with him. You saw Stephen Vote get absolutely depanced by AJ Hinch in game three. But you saw in game four, Stephen Vote didn't panic. He waited to deploy his weapon, David Fry, until the later innings. And then David Fry came through. That was a Stephen Vote redemption tour. We talk about Jose Ramirez. Jose Ramirez has been one of the best players in baseball for what five or five or so years. And he's always murdered the Tigers. We kept him kind of quiet. He had a big hit. You look at a manual class A. You saw what happened in game two. He had probably the worst outing of his life on one of the biggest stages. And what did he do last night? He allowed a run, but he had a cushion and he got the save. Cleveland's got some guys who are prideful and who are all stars as well. And they made plays. And sometimes you just have to tip your cap. As long as the Tigers can win game five, I think we can put this one behind us. I'm not mad at the Tigers personally, although they did have some missed opportunities. No, I think mad is something that maybe you revisit it if should they lose game five. And again, I don't want to have that conversation today. Thank you very much. I don't think word is the word mad is the word that I would use either disappointed. You know what it did? It reminded me a little bit of the old days of Tiger's Threaten, but do not score. Remember those fun games where we would play that game left and right. It reminded me a little bit of that, but I'm with you. I have a healthy respect for Cleveland. And I think they're probably in the same position that we're in right now in this regard. OK, I think everybody knew the last few years. This wasn't a team that was going to go win a World Series, right? Oh, it's cute. Isn't this fun? Ha ha, giggle, giggle. Well, all of a sudden the way you see things shaken out this year, is there potential for a team like Cleveland or dare I say, the Tigers to go knock off the Yankees? Absolutely. Absolutely. Don't don't don't get yourself. And then when you're in the World Series, anything can happen. And I know a lot of people are sitting back and going, while the Dodgers are going to find a way, are they? I don't know. I know what they did last night. I know that they forced the game five, but I think you know as well as I do. And maybe pitching is kind of been there. Kryptonite a little bit as well. So this may be that, I don't know that strange. Year where everything just kind of comes together and you could see one of those lower payroll teams say, "No, you know what? We did it the right way. We found a way. We scratched out a world series." I'm not taking anything away from Michigan, okay? I want you guys to know this. Yeah. But I've heard a lot of people say if there was an opportunity last year for somebody to break the SEC hex, it was last year. We said it during the course of the year. And again, that's taking nothing away from Michigan. I don't want one human being to make that conclusion, okay? But we knew Georgia wasn't as hot. We knew that Alabama wasn't as hot. And you know, who else was out there? It wasn't a great Clemson team. So you know what? You saw Michigan jump in the fast lane and pass everybody and win a national championship. Could it be that type of scenario in the MLB this year? I don't look at any one of these teams and go, "Oh my gosh. How can you beat Phil in the blank? I really don't." And that's what's pretty cool about this scenario. I mean, you mentioned the Dodgers. And I don't want to get too ahead of myself because the only way that the Tigers will be facing the Dodgers is in the World Series. Yamamoto got rocked. Flaherty didn't have his best game. Walker Bueller got absolutely shelled. And he has not been the same since coming back from injury. So the Dodgers, they've got a lineup that is a force to be reckoned with. They got bets. They got Otani. They've got Freddy Freeman. Although he missed last game, they got like Tasker Hernandez, Will Smith. On and on and on. But there's no juggernaut team. And even so, the playoffs are random. You see how often it happens where some guy will come out of nowhere and just make an impact. You see the 2018 Red Sox. I've given this example. Steven Pierce was the World Series MVP. Right? That's inconceivable. But was in the out of baseball like a year later too? I mean, it's insane when you think about it. I mean, you've seen what Jake Rogers has done. We've seen what Zack McKinstry has done just in Henry Malloy. Just the the unlikeliest of heroes have come through. I wish for his sake that we would have got to remember that as Zack McKinstry, a playoff hero game. He certainly did his part. The rest of the team couldn't really pick him up. But it's just the MLB playoffs are a fickle bitch. I'll just say that. And shout out to Hunter Parker in the World Sports Chat with the Super Chat. He says, we've had the same play in the entire time. Win our schoolable games and hope we steal one with the bullpen, which they did. You still got like Sean said, you got the best picture on the planet going in the game. So I like our chances. I do. I mean, it it's not a guarantee. No, there's no doubt about that. And I think that goes hand in hand with what flannel you were just saying. I love that fickle bitch. That's the MLB playoffs. You know, when you think, you know, you don't know. And the last thing in the world I want, and this is where I'm going to go on the way back machine. Okay. Hey, 2006 was a great run. Memories forever. 2011, 2012, 2013 will haunt me till the day I die because of what happened in 2014. You don't know how many kicks at the can you had. And that was the team. 2013 was the team. That was the series against the Red Sox and they didn't do it. So now when I look back at all that stuff, guys, like honestly, I don't have the wonderful, warm, fun feelings that I had while it was going on. I look at it and go missed opportunity. That was the shot for the Tigers to get their World Series because I'm sorry. I'm going to keep saying this to all the people out there whose brains work in a linear fashion. Oh, don't worry, guys. Look what this young group did. We set a lot of that shit in 2006 and it took that team five years to get back to the playoff. And it wasn't that core in 2006 that led them. They had to go out and spend a little money and get some guys to help push them back over the top so that linear thinking it doesn't really apply when you're talking about the Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball because of that fickle bitch. It is a fickle bitch. And I got to respond to somebody who's popular amongst the chat, but I can't stand this MF for Robert Colosia, Robert bleeping Colosia on and on with what? The balance of this Dodgers roster is crap. Flannel has no clue. This is painful. All right, I'm out of here. Guys, I'm going to court. Have a great weekend. Go pods and tags. I'll tell you what. You're just mad that the Dodgers are about to eliminate your bitch ass Padres in the playoffs. That's what you're mad about. Oh, I mentioned Shohei Otani, Freddy Freeman, Mookie Betts, Will Smith, and Tasker Hernandez. I'm sorry if maybe they have some six through nines like Gavin Lux, who maybe is a little bit questionable. I'm not going to apologize for saying that the Dodgers have a really formidable lineup. Sometimes that's all you need. You're just scared and you're upset that the Dodgers are going to eliminate the Padres. You're just sad that your team couldn't get it done at home, and that Dodgers lineup put eight runs on the board against Dylan Cease by Colosia. You can come in here during the meal and DMACC days, but you can say the F out during my show. I'll say this. Talk to him. I still value that you're a listener. I'm glad that you're here, but I'm also walking on. No, you don't. All right. No, I don't want to just go all the way. Don't go do 95% all the way. No, Colosia's worse than cats, and it's not close. Colosia's worse than Detroit supremacy. He's worse than Detroit supremacy. No, you bring up a great point though. It's not when you're talking about you named all those names, okay? And Hernandez is incredibly underrated, by the way. All right. This isn't like the Astros six through nine. I mean, we talked a lot about it during that series. KJ, I know you and I did. The Astros six through nine was ass. It really was. They don't have those names to help. This wasn't the Astros of yours gone by, where, oh my gosh, look at a Braille Reagan, and Braggman's Reagan, and all that. This wasn't that scenario. The Dodgers one through six can allow them to have a shitty ass. Yes. Six through nine. I mean, make no mistake about that. That's not a real good comparison in my mind. No, and for the record, I mean, Gavin Lux is actually playing pretty well this postseason. So I just, you're really nitpicking that I'm saying on and on about the Dodgers when your top five is that good. And like I said, Tommy Edmond, he's not great, but he can pop off. You never know. Gavin Lux has been fine. Max Muncie, another one, has had a lot of big postseason moments. Did he, has he been a good average guy throughout his career? Absolutely not, but Max Muncie is more than capable of hitting some clutch postseason home runs. But any who enough on the Dodgers, I just had to get my shit off when it comes to Robert Colosia. That's fair. Goodbye. Woodward and Maine. We got to talk about the pregame show. Welcome back to Big D Energy Live on the Woodward Sports Network. It is a flannel Sam and Sean Belligian show. We did a couple in the summer and it feels good today, man. And you had mentioned before that you had a bad feeling about Game 5, not that you were saying for sure that they were going to lose, but that you had a healthy, I don't want to say fear, but just apprehension when it comes to the Game 5 matchup, even though Terrick School is going on the night. It's because of Cleveland Indians and all the reasons that we brought up earlier. Honestly, this is a team that scratches things out. And I think, I hope people listen to you. I thought you brought up a great point like talking about, especially the World Series. I mean, do you guys remember who won the MVPs against the Tigers? David Eckstein, Pablo Sandoval. Like, think crazy. You had a little fella, right? All four foot two of them, wasn't it? Somebody fact-checked me. I think David was four foot two. He was four foot two. And you had the fat panda. Yeah. Like, honestly, I mean, and Steve Pierce's, I had to fact-check myself during the break. Steve Pierce was out of baseball, done, over six months later. Over, not six months of baseball time. Not six months of baseball time. Six months later, his last at bat, his last appearance in the major leagues, was in May of 2019. The dude that won the MVP six months earlier, I mean, it's batshit crazy stuff. And that's the type of stuff that we see time and time again. Guy stepping up, you know, hey, listen, doing a suicide bun. Doing something, making that big play in the field, whatever the case may be. And again, guys, I'd rather take my chances with the best pitcher in the planet. But can he go all oral hershizer? Kids, look him up. Can he go all oral hershizer and continue this incredible streak of scoreless innings? That's a huge question. It's right. It's not supposed to happen. It's inconceivable. Even with this being October, but he's going to have to do it, man. Because honestly, this is a type of game. Would it surprise anybody if this was a two-one game? I wouldn't surprise me in any way, shape or form. As I said with the playoffs, be it a fickle bitch. I'll give you another one for unlikely World Series MVP. The 2021 Braves. Rattle Lecunia was out for the postseason. Have no fear, Jorge Solaire is here. Like, it just makes no sense. I understand. But that's why sometimes breaking down these games logically is a losing effort. But I'm going to do my best here. Because Tarex Gubel, am I calling for him to throw a 9 innings shutout or even a 7 innings shutout? I, please go all Jack Morris. I would love it, but. Once, once, please, thanks. I, it definitely could happen. And I wouldn't be shocked. However, if he goes 7 and gives up 1, if he goes 7 and gives up 2, if he gives up, if he goes 6 and gives up 2, I still think the Tigers will have enough to win. Because, as I mentioned earlier, the Cleveland Guardians do not have a starting picture that, at least on paper, is unhitable. Or somebody that the Tigers can't touch. And if they're, if they're going by the rotation that they have been going through, it's going to be Matthew Boyd. And no disrespect to Matthew Boyd. I'll never do that again. Because after I did that, he shut out the Tigers for 4 and 2/3. I think, if he goes again, or if it's anybody else, the Tigers need to get on whoever it is early. Do like what they did in Game 3, where they scored right away, where they, where Parker Meadows got on base, and Riley Green knocked him in. And then in the 3rd inning, Veerling had that sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. And put all of the pressure back on Cleveland. Organizational pressure. Make the Cleveland Guardian fans squirm a little bit. Make Stephen Vote maybe panic again like he did in Game 3. Because you're also facing the prospect of being down. And maybe you're going to be seeing Taric Scuba for 3, 4, 5 more innings. I don't like that formula if I'm Cleveland. And I think the Tigers will win that win that game. Because I can't live in a world where Matthew Boyd, for example, shuts out the Tigers again. It won't happen. They're going to get to the starter early. Well, there's good news here because I'm a big believer in aura, okay? And I think Class A came into this series, rightfully so, with aura. And in life, so many things can be touched by Rocky 4. The cinematic triumph that is Rocky 4. And it really is that scenario when Rocky finally cut Drago. Remember? And Duke scream it. He's cut. He's cut, okay? You know what the Tigers are doing right now? They're doing that same scene. They're going, you see? He's not a machine. He's a man. They can get to him. And he knows they can get to him. Didn't he look a little amped up yesterday? Remember this here? He won it yesterday. Yesterday. That's not Class A. Yeah. That's not, you know what I mean? It was like, he took it personal because he knows they touched him up. So in the back of the head, he knows that the Tigers got to him a couple times. And most importantly, in the back of the Tigers' heads, they're not going up. They're going, oh, geez, what are we going to do against this guy? You know, that's the one thing that Cleveland's got to be doing right now. All right, this schoolable guy. He's owned everybody. Look what he did to us in his appearance. That aura is still there. That in the back of their heads, psychological effect is still in play. It's not there with Class A. So those are all factors that lead me to say, I'm with you. Listen, I'm not a betting man. I think the Tigers win, and I'm not saying it with my heart. I'm trying to say it with my head. But in the interest of being fair, and I take my job very seriously, I've always tried to be fair, the big question is, as you said, can Matthew Boy do what he did? I don't know. The law of averages say no. Can schoolable keep this up? And I'm not talking about greatness. I'm talking about unconsciousness, okay? Not giving up a run in the postseason. Your first two postseason games goes beyond being great. It's unconscious. It's unfathomable, okay? Can he keep that up? I think the answer to that is also a no. I can't see it. Well, that's where you have to measure. What do we need from schoolable? Do we need it to be unconscious? Or are we going to be okay with him just being normal, great? And that's the whole crux of it all. And I'm glad you said that about Emmanuel Class A, because yeah, this season, one of the best closer seasons I think we've ever seen, in the regular season. But you even saw it last night, Justin Henry Malloy, who has been an absolute revelation this playoffs by the way. I believe that. That wasn't even a favorable matchup for him. They were using him to hit against lefties. But he just ripped a double to left field off of Emmanuel Class A. Unfortunately, the Tigers weren't able to tie the game. They were only able to manufacture in that one run. But Emmanuel Class A has shown to be hitable. I mean, Jake Rogers got to hit off of him. Trey Sweeney, is that his only hit of the playoffs? I'm not sure about that, but it very well might be. It was off of Emmanuel Class A. Kerry Carpenter, who there's a potential issue with him as well, got to hit. So I want to say that if, before the series, I said to myself that the Tigers have to get hits off of starters and touch up the starters because they're going up against Cleveland's bullpen. Even going into the sixth or seventh down is a losing proposition. Maybe it's not. I still don't like it. I still don't like the prospect of looking at like Kate Smith and Tim Heron and Gaddis and Class A to close the game. But it's not this air of invincibility. Well, and I think conversely, you know what? And both sides of the coin, Bobriskey, the magic that Bobriskey had. I think a lot of people, and it was funny, somebody kind of gave them a little bit of a hassle on social media yesterday. I'm like, are you kidding me? Like knock it off. You can't say enough about what Bobriskey has done. He has zeros, the whole posy. Right, but you know what? You have to start asking yourself, okay, the way that AJ has done it, is incredibly admirable, but are some of these arms maybe getting taxed? I mean, I think it's a fair question to ask. To ask the same guys to come out there and pitch as much as they pitch. Is that part of the process? I don't know the answer. I'm not going to pretend to know the answer, but I think it's a fair question to ask. Well, I'd say that it's fair. And before I get to that, I want to read this. This is from Larry Roberts. So has Perez, Sam Flint, Sam Flannel. Perez has been good in the playoffs as well. Yes, he has been. And he was great last night. And he's been another one that's come up with a lot of big plays. And who knows, maybe he's taking his claim for a role in this team in the future. But yeah, it's, man, it's just, it's going to be tough. But at the same time, I think that, I think that the Tigers are going to win. Not trying to be overly confident or too confident, but you got scuba going up. Scuba has managed to take it to another level. He was the best pitcher in baseball all season. He won the pitching triple crown. And he made absolute light work of Houston and Cleveland in his first two starts against them. I'm not saying he's going to pitch a no hitter. I'm not saying that he's going to go eight scoreless, necessarily. But he will do enough. It's just can the Tigers manufacture three or four runs? I think if they get three or more, they win. We've never seen anything like this. I hate overstatements, okay? I think the media business has become chock full of stupid overstatements where people sit back and go, this is the greatest I've ever seen. That's the greatest I've ever seen. I think we get completely dragged down with that type of bullshit minutia. However, do me a favor. Find me the last Tiger starter that had the type of year that he had, okay? And then went next level once the postseason started. Because even Justin Verlander, when Justin Verlander was rookie of the year in 2006, he didn't go into the playoff. If you look at his outings and look like that unhittable Justin Verlander, now Justin Verlander, look at his numbers in 2013, he was sickening. It was gross. He had a lower ERA than his whip. I mean, it was fake stuff. That's how good he was the last month of that year. After a lot of people were questioning aloud, oh, it's Justin Verlander shot. Last month of the season, he went crazy. And then in the playoff, he went unconscious. But the problem that I have with this, and this is why I bring it up, flannel Sam, one mistake against the Boston Red Sox and Mike Napoli. One mistake, one bad pitch, and it landed seven fucking feet, freaking feet behind me. Yeah, I'll be on field, okay? Then the Tigers lose that game one nothing. You know, those are the things that I worry about when the screws get tight, man. Those are the, you make one mistake and it could be the game. Yeah, and you, I got a little sidetracked there, I apologize. You were talking about Bo Brisky and that he's been absolutely lights out. And then he made one bad pitch. And you could argue if there's one guy that maybe shouldn't have been in there back to back days, you could have, Brant Herder was obviously number one, but number two on that list could have very well been Bo Brisky because he threw two innings the night before. But I also, as much as you want to talk about bro Brisky making a bad pitch, David Fry's an all star. I know that David Fry may have been a little bit of a fake all star and kind of more of a platoon bat, but sometimes big time players make big time plays and big games. And this goes to exactly what we're talking about. Just one mistake can make all the difference in the world in a game like this. I've seen it happen way too much in the playoff man, just one mistake. But again, Scuba, we're talking about something that is Detroit Tiger fans, we haven't seen anything like this man. We haven't, like seriously, as lights out as some guys were at playoff time, not like this, like come on, seven, six innings, no earned runs. It's in seven hits total. If I'm not mistaken, it's insane. Can he do it one more time? He's going to have to do something close to it honestly. He very well might or the Tigers bets explode. We shall see. I'd probably bet more on school, but maybe both we shall see. But unfortunately, there was another team that lost last night that Detroit Red Wings. We're going to break down the first game of the Red Wing season when we come back. But first, tell us about Lady James. It is the flannel Sam and Sean Belijian show and before we move on to the to the Red Wings, nobody in the chat. Sean can school be like Josh Beckett. Love my fish. Oh yeah, Marlon. Does that make sense? That was. Yeah. Jeez. Good, good. Sometimes you see that stuff, man. I mean just to go on a run like this is we as Tiger fans have never seen it though. I'm going to keep saying that. We haven't seen it. We've seen some great performances and great seasons, but to put together the season that he had and carry that into the playoff to this level, we've never seen anything like that. You know, somebody here we go if you want to go on the way about what about Mickey Lolich. Well, it wasn't like Mickey Lolich was this disgusting entity during the regular season. There was a guy by the name of Denny McLean that won 31 games that year. But when Mickey Lolich had to up his game, dude went out and won three World Series games. I mean, give him his flowers for that. But to have this, this is insane. To have the season he had, he is the Cy Young Award winner, okay? He is. No disrespect to Class A. I think any other year you probably could make a good argument for him. I don't think he can this year's plan. I don't know what you think about that. But to come out and pitch goose eggs in his first two playoff games, his first two playoff games, it's insane. There's nothing to compare it to. It's insane. Class A would be second on my Cy Young Ballad. If I had one on a lot of other seasons, he might win it. He might win it, yeah, he might win it, yeah. But Teric School, though, it also speaks to Teric School, was the best starting pitcher in the American League by far. Not even close. Not even close. There wasn't even another, there wasn't even another competitor. But speaking of there not being a competitor, the Red Wings weren't really one last night. Jesus. They dropped their home opener and their season opener six to three to the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. What did you see in game one? You know, to the people out there like you, see the pause for effect, yeah. Do you see that? The pause for effect, to the people out there like you have at it. Seriously. Now I went on record and I say this Darren's not here, so I don't have to worry about him punching me. I'm not sure they're a playoff team yet. I still think that Steve Eisenman's doing it the right way. I still think that there's a big difference between getting into the playoff and getting smoked in the first round and being legitimate and ready to make a run. To the people out there like you, Flannel, this is your day to yell and scream and curse and do whatever you need to do. Because that team sure looked a hell of a lot like the team that I saw last year. I think some of the things for those of you that watch the exhibition game, I put nothing into exhibition. Nothing. I just don't. I never have. I never will. I don't think you should either. But to the people out there that do put something into exhibition, how many times did you hear somebody say what's wrong with the Red Wings? Well, last night they looked like the team that you saw in exhibition. Gold Tenning's going to be a problem all year. I'm sorry. If you haven't figured out the Alex Lyon yet, you're never going to figure it out. This is a guy that's going to be good for a little while. It's not sustainable. It hasn't been sustainable in his career. It is Stevie trying to catch lightning at a bottle as he's done a few times in his career. You know, bringing up the guy that is in his late 30s that can go on a magical run. Dwayne Roleson comes to mind. Is that his Cam Talbot this year? I guess we'll have to find out. But not a good first game at all at LCA. No, and a tactile Puma 58 says in the chat. Improved defense, improved gold tending in quotation marks, of course. But Spenny, I'm sure you didn't get to catch much of the game because you were at the Tigers. But 6-3 loss to the Penguins. What do you think? I know it's just game one, but it was ugly. Yeah, it was ugly and you hate to see that. But I mean, I hate to say this kind of saw it coming based off of what happened to the Penguins and their home opener going out there and getting blown out 6-0. Like you're like, great point. You know, they're going to come out here. They're not going to allow themselves to win the second game or the lose the second game of the season after getting blown out in their own home opener. But that's no excuse. The Red Wing is definitely at the defense. Still needs some work. Well, we'll see what happens. And I know who so won the Goldpender 1 role in the post in the preseason. But I thought it should have been Talbot. I mean, we'll see what happens. I'm sure he's going to get a go here pretty soon. But Villy, who so in the defense need to be better. You can't be giving up 6 goals in your home eyes. I don't care if the Penguins were pissed off. You can't. I don't think they have a de facto number one right now. Yeah. I'm serious. I don't. I think, to be honest with you, Loloan's waiting for somebody to say, I'm going to take that. I honestly, spending, I don't think they have a number one right now. I'd like to-- Go ahead. Right up. Go ahead. I'm not going to rant because at the end of the day, with all that's being said, it was game 1 of 82. However, when I talk about the Red Wings as a team that I predicted to go to the playoffs, I look at that as just me more setting expectations. I think there were a lot of potential Red Flags about this team moving forward. And one of them, I think in particular, when it comes to the defense and when it comes to the goaltending, is that your top four pairing defensively is Cider and Sharat, and then Edvinson and Petrie. And your starting goaltender was Ville Huso. That's not good enough. That's got to be one of the worst in all of the NHL, of all of the NHL. Because I hate to break it to you about Ville Huso. He has never been good in Detroit. And he never will be good in Detroit. In his two seasons where he started over 70 games in net, he has a safe percentage that starts with the number eight. And we saw last night, and don't get me wrong, the defense did not do him any favors. When you talk about the goals that he let out before he was taken out of the game, I think half of them were his fault, and half of them were the defense's fault. But still, it's just not a good combination. And you saw Simon Evanston didn't have his best game, although I think he will be better. Gustafson wasn't great. Sharat wasn't great either. It's just, there's too many Red Flags about this defense. I think that this offense will be fine. It was good to see to break it get a couple of goals. It was good to see Tarasenko get one, but you allowed six. And some of them were just the softest goals you'll ever see. I mean, what was it? I forgot his name, got one from the blue line. It was Pedersen, got one from the blue line. Huso allowed one of the easiest rebound goals. I think you'll ever see in your life for the second goal of the game. I mean, you saw when Malkin just cut through the Red Wing's defensive zone and then found O'Connor, who was streaking wide open. There was just almost no resistance. And that's been the story of the last couple of the years with the Red Wings. The defense is just not good enough. The offense may be damn near Stanley Cup caliber, but the defense might be their undoing. I know it's one game, but that was about as bad of a showing as I could have asked for. I think as well, you know, when you talk about pop and the five on three goal to make it look a little respectable, I think that's a little bit of illusion as well. For me, yeah, I expect more out of the team offensively, you know, from from the depth up front. And I would hope everybody else should. Spenny, I thought you brought up a great point. This is not a good Penguins team. OK, this is this is not a team that's going to make the playoff. I think they're in that same category, maybe as is Detroit, where I think that they would need a lot of help to get into the playoff. But they were embarrassed like the night before. They were embarrassed. So you expect them to bounce back. You see it every night in the National Hockey League. I think the Bruins last night, the same thing happened, you know, Florida jumped on them. They were going to jump all over Montreal who didn't give up a goal in beating Toronto. That's the National Hockey League. Things like that are going to happen. I'm actually proud of you, flannel. Here, I thought you were going to rant and rave and call for heads and everything. No, really, I seriously, I was like, oh, I dread listening to this. You never know. But you know what? It's game one. Big, big, deep breath. Let's see what happens. But listen, the problems are real. We have to acknowledge that the problems are real. They're not there yet. And it sucks for them to be in this division. I know I sound like a broken record. This division, to use a word from you, is a bitch. It really is. You know, Buffalo, obviously the 0 and 3 start, but they've got a hell of a lot of talent. You never know what you're going to get out of Ottawa from night to night. Montreal, Montombot was unbelievable in shutting up the Leafs in game number one. And they have so much young talent up front and on their blue line. But you know how it is with young talent. Tap isn't going anywhere yet. I'm going to quote Neil Rule. He said they've begun their initial descent. Yes. But they're still a viable team. And then you got Boston and Toronto. And obviously, defending Stanley Cup champion. So there's no rest in this division. You know, every one of these teams can come up and pop you in. That's why I think the Red Wings are going to be hard pressed to make the playoffs this year. I really do. And people are going to lose their shit. And like you said, Sean, before we go to break. This was not this, or this is not a good Penguins team. I agree. They're not going to be a team that's contending. But they still have two guys who were two of the top 10 NHL players the past 20 years. Like when you have Malkin and Crosby out there that just got embarrassed at home, they're going to be pissed off. And they're still, you know, those old cats still got some try down the tires. They can go out there and single handedly kind of win some games. And I know the Red Wings defense didn't help in that at all. But it's still you got to watch out for those guys. You know, you poke the bear and the guy next to line is going to feel the feel the rush of it. So I don't know if you guys know this. I am a charter member of the Sydney Crosby fan club. I absolutely love Sydney Crosby. And you know, the funny thing about it, I hate to go snob on you. I'm going to go hockey snob on you. Anybody who's watched the game, anybody who's played the game feels the exact same way. He is complete. He is absolutely complete. He is one of the best players you'll ever see. Period. He's the greatest player of my generation. I tell young, I tell young kids all the time, you want to know how to play hockey? Watch that guy play a shift. Yeah. All the little shit he does, he is fast. I know I'm supposed to hate him. I get it. I know I'm supposed to hate him. Got to respect it though. But from like a fan standpoint, like that's how you play the game. That guy, 200 feet, phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. He's one of the best players you'll ever see in your life. I know you're all going to shit on me for saying that, but I'm never going to back down from it. He's one of the best players you'll ever see in your life. You're right. That is absolute facts. And I think most people recognize that. They just don't like him for other reasons. Maybe they don't like his demeanor on the ice. Maybe they don't like his mindiness. Yeah, right. No, he and that's and that's 100% fair. And you know, some will never for Jimmy Howard put him in a headlock. That was one of my favorite memories is Red Wings fan. But fair. He's got to tip the cap to the guy. He's been the best player in the show for 10 years. He's getting older now. They've given him his flowers. Yeah, I mean, I know this isn't a perfect comparison, but Sidney Crosby, he's LeBron. LeBron is Sidney Crosby as hyped as you can possibly be and has lived up and even I would say did been better than the hype, which Crosby's was massive. And you know what? It's actually, we didn't like to see him last night because obviously his team beat the Red Wings. But it's good to see him still making an impact in the NHL after all of these years. I know the assistant coach with the penguins, Mike Volucci. I worked for him many years when he was with the whalers. And Mike said, told me flat, flat out. He goes watching him every game from the bench. He goes the shit that he does, like every shift. He doesn't have to. He like, your legacy is set, dude. You're going to be one of the greatest players forever and ever and ever. Every shift, every night, that dude goes 200 feet. And that's to me, that's what separates the guys, a guy like that from the pack. You know, here, I'll give you an example. You know what? Who would I go to war with? How about Panerani? He had 110 points last year or whatever with the Rangers, right? Yeah. I'll take Sydney Crosby every single day and three times a day during the playoff, then a guy like that. Because you know what? I know there's a real good chance that he's going to be in the neutral zone, winning a puck battle or deepen his own zone. And Panerani's going to be doing circles, waiting for an outlet pass out of the defensive zone. Give me that guy. You take the 110 points. I'll take what Sydney Crosby gives me on a night and night up basis. Am I wrong for saying that on some level, Panerian and this went together a little bit. The Reggie has? A little bit. Just a little bit. I mean, the Rangers as a whole did. But Panerian, he did not show up. He at least was below his standard. I think that's fair. Florida! I'm sorry. I had something in my throat. Cheers. That was weird. I'm sorry. You know, if you're a Rangers fan or even a Penguins fan, you have high hopes for the season. You might want to get some insurance because... And who would have thought that this is the Lions playing the Cowboys this Sunday at Dallas in the most anticipated season of our lifetimes? And they don't even get to be talked about until the second hour of the Friday show. But hey, you know what? The Tigers have earned all of the coverage. But I almost feel like the Lions have become a bit of an afterthought. I mean, who would have thought it? I can get used to it though. I mean, and it's kind of funny because it goes back to last year as far as I'm concerned. You guys knew KG in flannel, as most Michigan fans did, that had the potential to be a pretty special season, right? A year ago, you know, last August, September, you're like, all right, let's see what can happen. Maybe we can make a little run. Obviously, we know how that run ended. And I think a lot of people, I always use the analogy of a plate, right? Well, I'm going to go grab some of those soroki wings and that's going to take up a big part of my plate. For guys like KG and I, I got that pork butt on my smoker. I'm going to grab a healthy heaping of that. You just didn't have a lot on your plate, a lot of room for the Tigers. So I think a lot of fans kind of missed. Terrick Scooble ripping off his suit and going, hey, I'm the best pitcher in baseball, because they had checked out. We were all excited about the Lions. You guys were all excited about Michigan. And so because of that, you know, let me look, can I throw a little extra one in there? Sure. It sucks that Michigan, Michigan State both have the bye week. Because I'll be man enough to admit it. You know what? I like to watch you. I do. When I'm not playing, yeah, I want to go see what Michigan's doing. And you guys probably feel the exact same way about Michigan State with the game coming up. So yeah, and that regard flannel, it's like, oh, yeah, the Lions are playing the Cowboys back in Dallas again, and we all know what happened last December 30th. And they can, they can all say they're beyond it. I call bullshit. You know exactly what happened. We were going to hear the, you know, reported jokes and all that stuff. And until we're sick of it, these guys want to beat the Cowboys. They know what happened last December. Make no mistake about that. Oh, they most certainly do. And for the reasons that we haven't talked about them, probably as much as, well, certainly as much as we would Lions games in, in recent years last year and the year before even. Where are you at with this Lions team? They're three and one. They're unfortunately in what looks like one of the toughest divisions in football. I mean, the Vikings are five and oh, the Packers are three and two. The Bears are also three and two. They're all over 500. But where are you at with this Lions team a quarter of the way through the season? I, I'm going to sound smug, but I'm going to say it anyway. They're the best team in the NFC. And I don't, I don't hesitate saying it. I don't. Congratulations to Minnesota. You look legitimate. It was funny, flannel. Neil and I were talking about this earlier in the week. Some somebody said, well, oh my gosh, now, now we're behind Minnesota. What are we going to do? You guys understand that can all change now in the span of nine days, right? Yeah, sir. If the Lions go out and do what they should do this Sunday, and then go to Minnesota and beat Minnesota. Guess what? That, that insurmountable lead that the Vikings have on the Lions is gone. It's just like that in the span of nine days. It's, it's, it's a nice problem to have. And I don't want you to get mad at me when I say this because I, I'm going to bring up Patrick Mahomes, okay? Yeah. I'm going to bring up Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. And I'm not putting the Lions on the same plateau, okay? But the Chiefs just go about their business. They, they know that they have to play better. They know that they've, they've gotten lucky here, there and everywhere. It's a nice problem to have when, when you can win games and go out there with your B minus effort. Go out there with your C plus effort. Do I want to see him put together that whole 60 minutes? Of course I do. Of course, we all do, right? But this is a lion team that, that has gone out there and, and found a way. And obviously last week was a little bit more of, of, of what we expect from this football team. But when you can go out there and win more often than not when you don't have your A game, I think there's a confidence that grows from that. I think the Kansas City Chiefs are the, the poster child for that. Ooh, what's going on with Patrick Mahomes? How can you ask? Like you, you know when the opportunity presents itself. He, he's going to go out there and do Mahomes things and to Jared Goss credit, he went out there and did Jared Goss things his last game out. So I don't hesitate guys. I don't know about you. I, the Lions are the best team in the NFC until, well, the Minnesota Vikings knocked them off. How's that? Sounds good to me. I mean, we'll see about that. But KG, I was going to just ask you the general question like I asked Sean, but are the Lions the best team in the NFC? I mean, it's hard to argue. Who would you really put over the Lions right now? Besides, okay, the Vikings find it. But they are on a bike week this week. So you're going to get them undefeated when you face them. So we'll find out who's the best team in NFC North soon enough. But there's no other team that you really put above the Lions at this point. I agree. The only reason when, when we've done power rankings that I've put the Vikings ahead of the Lions right now is because the Vikings have earned it with their play. Yeah, they got going. Yes. Do I think that the Lions are a better team? Absolutely. Do I think they have a really good shot of going into Minnesota and winning 100%? I would bet on them for the record. I'm not going to, but I would if I felt like making a bet that day. The Lions you most certainly can argue are the best team in the NFC. Spenny, what say you? Are the Lions the best team in the NFC? Yeah, I think they are. The Vikings have been the most impressive team in the NFC so far with the wins. They've had over San Francisco and over Houston. Those are both big wins. But yeah, when it comes down to it, I look at the Lions roster and it is better than anybody else in the NFC. I fully expect them to go into Dallas and just absolutely curb stomp the Cowboys. Like, I think this is going to be an ugly game. And I wouldn't be surprised if Jared Goff went 19 for 19 in this game. I'm not even joking. They're going to be without without Michael Parsons, Demarcus Lawrence, and Marcia Nealon. They already can't stop the run to save their lives. The Lions are going to absolutely manhandled the Cowboys. I think it being only a three point spread is extremely disrespectful. Guys, you know who I fear most in the NFC right now? And I'm not even joking. It's Washington. I'm sorry. We all know what the NFL is today. It is, what can your quarterback do to the opposition? And how can you get after their quarterback? What Jayden Daniels is doing right now? I don't think enough is being said about it. A rookie shouldn't be playing like this. He shouldn't be. I mean, I watch rookies do dumb things over and over. And that's why when people wanted to crown the fucking bears during the offices and fuck the bears, by the way, when they wanted to crown the bears in the off season, one of the first things that I said is I don't care how good this kid will eventually be. Rookie quarterbacks do dumb things. Jayden Daniels making it look easy right now. He is. And I'm sorry, like, like seriously, in the moment you're in a playoff game. Sam Darnold or Jayden Daniels, who you more afraid of, right? Do I think the Vikings have a better team? Yeah, probably, but quarterback play is so important in the National Football League. It is today. And I would be more terrified than Jayden Daniels. Now, look, if he decides he wants to look like a rookie at some point in time, you guys can all laugh at me and go, you're the guy that warned everybody about rookies. He doesn't look like it right now. He's downright frightening watching that cat play. No, he is. And the funny thing too is Jayden Daniels has, I mean, you could argue he's the MVP right now. I know it got brought up on a wake up Woodward and I bristled for a second. But no, it's not crazy at all. But also Caleb Williams looks like he's figuring some things out. He does give him credit. He's played a really good games. He actually played a good half second half against Indianapolis. They just weren't able to come back and win. But weaker teams, but nonetheless, nonetheless, I'm just man, people. And this is where I got really off on a bad foot with like the Lions fans. I'm a big believer in Caleb Williams. I was mad that the Bears got him. Yeah. And I've bristled a lot at the idea that Caleb Williams was basically a combination that he was going to be a combination. This is what this is the vibe that I got from the chat. And this is a little bit of hyperbole, but that's what I do. That Caleb Williams was basically going to be a combination of Ryan Leif, Satan and Liberace. That's the vibe that I was getting. Liberace. What the eff are you? Because he's a little flamboyant. No, no, I didn't. I was like, can we get AI to work on that? Is there any way we can get a picture with Satan? Liberace? And Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif, Ryan Leif. That's hilarious. That's a good one. And I'm just like, what the eff are you talking about? Yeah, he's got some things to clean up. And yeah, it looked really bad for him at the beginning. But he's got more talent. I think he's better. He's got more talent than you think. His escape ability and ability to make plays off script, I think, could be Mahomes-esque. And he's better from the pocket than you think. This isn't the time to glaze the bears, I understand. But we're talking about rookie quarterbacks. Jayden Daniels is obviously going to be a problem within the conference for many, many years. But Caleb Williams isn't looking so bad either. And I'm still upset that the bears got him. Well, and it's funny because Sean Payton, I mean, look, Bo Nix is doing some things that nobody saw. But Sean Payton is also thoroughly frustrated with Bo Nix. Why? Because rookie quarterbacks do dumb things. I mean, set your watch of it. And that's why all the people that wanted to crown the bears today, I got to reiterate it. All the people that wanted to crown the bears this year, not with a rookie quarterback. Again, it's early. Washington's only four in one. But my goodness gracious, what I've seen out of that Jayden Daniels kid, he's just making it look too easy right now. That would terrify me down the stretch. It really would. Oh, yeah, and I can't stress this enough. Jayden Daniels is the obvious front runner for rookie of the year. And he damn well might win MVP. By the way, suck it, Chase. Guys who watch wake up Woodward will understand why. That wasn't his best word. Suck it, Chase. And let me tell you guys about Mark White. Welcome back to Big D Energy Live on the Woodward Sports Network. I am Flanel Sam. The man to my left is Sean Belligian. We got KG in Spenmo racks behind the booths. As always, always doing a great job. Hello to you Spenny as well. And now that we've done a little intel on the Detroit Lions, and even some of the maybe competition for them, let's talk about the games. Lions at Cowboys, Jerry World, 425, Sunday. What are some of your keys to a Lions victory? Pound, pound, pound. I think exactly what-- Honestly, I think exactly what Spenny said. Listen, they can't run the ball. They can't. At all. Like, at all. Like, I'm serious. It's kind of embarrassing. The fact that they brought Zeke back is kind of embarrassing. They can't run the ball. They're banged up. This is the game. I know that we like all the bells and whistles. You know what I would do? Death by a million paper cuts. Pound, pound, pound. Dink, dink, dink. Up and down the field on this team. I think you can control the clock mightily. I have a question for you guys in a second after you get your thoughts, and I'd love to hear the other guys' thoughts. I contend. This is just my personal-- I think that the Dallas Cowboys have become the most hated team per capita by Detroit Lions fans. I could be wrong, but I really do. I think the Dallas Cowboys, and a lot of it is circumstances, and a lot of it is deck being thrust down so many people's throats. And, you know, particular games, but that's just one man's opinion. But, like, honestly, here we talk about today's NFL. What can your quarterback do to them and go after their quarterback? No, no, no. This, to me, old school. This is old school. You go old school. You pound the rock. You beat the crap out of them on defense. I think the Lions win this game going away. I really do. Yeah, I think running the ball and stopping the run is going to be huge. Rico Doudel and Ezekiel Elliott being your running-back duo. That's an embarrassment. It is? Well, I mean, this version of Ezekiel Elliott, not 2016, not when he was great, but this version. And usually, I like to give respect to opponents, because anyone can beat you any given Sunday. But when it comes to the Cowboys' running-back room, they're not even rushing for 30 yards this Sunday. And they're rushing for less than two yards to carry. That's how little I believe in them, and that's how much I believe in this Lions run defense, which was good last year, even when the full defense was wasn't so good, and is even better this year with better personnel. And also, like you said, run the damn ball. The Cowboys do not have a good run defense. It's bottom 10 in the NFL, and the Lions, on the other hand, have arguably the best rushing offense in the NFL. They certainly have the best line. They have the best running-back duo, and it wouldn't shock me at all if they, at the very least, went for about 150 yards on the ground, maybe approaching five yards per carry, and they just control the clock, maybe win time of possession, 35 to 25. And if they do both of those things, not a chance in how the Cowboys are winning. Dez is going to get his. He is. He's going to get-- See, I'm like Dez. Yeah, Michael Irvin's going to get his drew. Dez is going to get his. No, see, see-- Remember Bob Hayes? Yeah. Remember Bob Hayes? He's going to get his-- No, no, seriously. CD's going to get his. He might have a couple touchdowns. Control the clock, win the game 31-17. All the fantasy owners can jerk off because Dak had 340 passing yards, and CD had 120 and two touchdowns. Fantastic. Lions win this one 34-17 or something like that. Control the clock. I think-- I like the Lions big in this game. I really do. I do, too. It's-- It's many. I do, too. I mean, like you guys said, nobody can run the ball on this Lions defense, except for Kenneth Walker, apparently. But it's literally in the past two years. It's always just Kenneth Walker's the only one who can do anything. But the Cowboys can't run the ball on anybody, let alone this defensive line, and I already talked about them being out their best three pass rushers. Dak Prescott's going to have to sit back there and throw the ball 50 times if they want to have any chance in this game. Ian Hodgson's going to be all over his ass, and Jared Goff is going to have the most clean pocket that any quarterback will see in the NFL this year in this game. He is going to be standing back there, flat-footed, drinking some tea, read the newspaper, and then deliver in the mail to an open receiver. Like, he's going to have all day back there. I am so glad that you mentioned it when it comes to the trenches, when it comes to the injuries, and even on the offensive line for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys, let's start with the injuries. It's bad for them right now. When you look at their IR, you see Brandon Cooks, you see Demarcus Lawrence, you see Sam Williams, you see Jordan Phillips, you see Marcia Neeland. I'm looking at four out of the five being your defensive line. Demarcus Lawrence is your second best pass rusher. He's the bookend to Micah. Sam Williams is a rotational defensive end that hasn't played yet this year and won't. You got Jordan Phillips, who they got from Buffalo, who's one of their rotational defensive tackles, and then you got Marcia Neeland, a promising rookie. That's not all though. Look at their questionable list. Eric Kendricks is questionable. Trayvon Diggs is questionable. Micah Parsons, man, if he doesn't play or if he's hampered, how huge would that be for the Lions? All questionable, none of them are practicing. I did get the Doron Bland thing wrong earlier. It does look like he's trending to possibly play. He hasn't played yet this season. That could be big for the Cowboys, but when you look at the Lions, you know, nobody's going to boo-hoo cry for the Cowboys because you look at Marcus Davenport, you look at Ify, you look at Derek Barnes, but other than that, the Lions are getting ragged now and branched back. The Cowboys are potentially missing some of their best players, especially Demarcus Lawrence up against this offensive line for the Lions. Good luck. KG, seriously, be the voice of reason. Are we being slapdicks? I-- Absolutely not. Okay, good. Call 2817 in my prediction and me and you are on the same page. Run the ball, stop the run. But I guess I would add to that by saying limit CD lamb because you all know that has to drop back in this game in order for them to do absolutely anything, man. And yes, he had 300 yards last week against a tough stealer defense, but he also had multiple turnovers. I think he had two picks and a fumble as well. So he's going to make the ball available to this defense. They have to take advantage of that because last year, you know, our secondary wasn't necessarily the greatest. I think CD lamb went off of 200 plus yards like Sam Broder. 27. Crazy. Like Sam Broder. 100 of it came in one play. Which is nuts, by the way. I'll keep it a little dark. This secondary is nowhere near what we had last year. And I tried to caution fans this morning like stick with TA. He's going to be targeted in this game, believe that because they're going to move CD lamb around. They're going to try to get that match up. They know he's the most flagged rookie in the league right now. So they are going to do everything to try to get that one-on-one match up. But by all accounts, he's been there every play. He hasn't got burnt or torched. You do want to see the flags go down, but ultimately he's going to get targeted. So be okay with that, but it won't cost the team. And that's the most important thing. Yeah. Before we go to break, Dante 151 had a $5 super chat in there. Shout out to him. He said, what the hell happened to the one running back from TCU that Dallas drafted? Is he out of the league already? I'm really asking. I think you think Deuce Vaughn from Kansas State. Kansas State, yeah. He's just he's four-foot tall. Yeah, they drafted him because his dad works for the team. Pretty much. He's a wee little fella, too. Yeah. He's another one of those wee little fella. Yeah. It's insane. The Eric Kendrick's was like their only signing. And he's been good, but he's questionable. Yeah. Can I tell you something though? I've learned this over the last 30 years. The years that Jerry Jones does the most talking are usually the years that he knows what he has sucks. Like that's kind of been his MO. And he was doing a lot of talking if you remember this off season. He was popping his chest. I'm the best there ever doing. And that's what kind of told me, oh, Dallas is in for a long year. So it is unbelievable that that man has not been able to check. I mean, even Daniel Snyder checked his ego for goodness sake. He will never check his ego, ever check his ego. And Dallas is never going to win because he's never going to put together a championship. And they were they were such a dynasty in the 90s. They looked like a machine that was going to keep going forever. But you know what? You get rid of Jimmy Johnson. Things happen. And of course, the salary cap has a lot to do with that as well. Not getting to just create the greatest offensive line we've ever seen. But you posed a question before we went to break. Can you repeat that for those who did not hear? I have always felt that we here in Detroit lack a true rival. The Lions lack a true rival. And if you want to be a wise acre and bring up their lack of success, their true rival is ownership or the Lions themselves. Okay, we get it. Okay. But I want many, many years ago when the Lions were in the old division, I once went in the locker room and asked like 20 random players. Who is the team in the division? This is this is because you know, oh, nobody. But you get, okay, off the record. Who's the team in the division? Do you get most jacked up for? Okay. And honest to goodness, I don't remember the exact, but you had a bunch of guys say the bears. You had a bunch of guys say the Packers. You had a fewer numbers say Minnesota and you had a fewer numbers say Tampa. And I thought that was because years ago, Tampa was in the division as well. I thought that was very, very telling and could be compared to the Lion fan base. Like for me, I say this. I grew up the bears haunted me. The bears haunted me and I openly admit it. It was because I wanted the Lions to be the bears. I was so jealous of what Chicago had and the 85 bears and DITCA and their swagger and all that stuff. It was 100% based in jealousy. But then you get people like my kid. My kid hates the Packers because Aaron Rodgers haunted his life. And when Aaron Rodgers decided he didn't want to play, that fucking Matt Flynn haunted his life. So he hates the Packers. So to people out there, I mean, I'm going to, let me start in here before we ask everybody. Do you guys have one team, the one team that you ate more than anybody else? KGLA ego first, it will always and forever be the Green Bay Packers. Okay, full life. You hear me? I sat through the Brett Farvera who was a talented dickhead. I've sat through the Aaron Rodgers era who was an even more talented dickhead. And it just always seemed like the Packers have it all and we had nothing. I mean, Aaron Rodgers, the Hail Marys, we can go down the list of Packers over Lions moments. And I've just always hated that. And I've always been jealous of that. And I wanted that for my team. Now we finally have that, you know, and then Packers are still good somehow. But you know, it will always be the Packers just because of what I've had to live through through their two Hall of Fame quarterbacks, Benny. Yeah, same here. Hey, it's the Packers for me. I hate their stupid uniforms. I hate the frozen tongue. Yeah, I hate their fans. I hate that youpers route for them. If I didn't love cheese so much, I would hate everything about the Packers. I can't stand them. I hope they lose every single game. They always seem to get a fucking good quarterback and go from Bart Starr to Brett Farve to Aaron Rodgers. And now Jordan Love looks like he's going to be pretty good. Well, he's not looking so good this year, but I hate the Packers. I can't stand them. Yeah, I was probably going to go with the Packers as well because in my generation, I think I'm a little older than your son. It's been the Packers who have been the tormentors. It's been the ones who have consistently ruled the division, have consistently broke the hearts of Lions damn near every single year, whether it's Brett Farve and after Brett Farve, as KG said, they got someone even better and more efficient in Aaron Rodgers. They're just the ones right now. And also last year, the fact that they made the playoffs, even though it appeared that they were going to be down and it looked like for a second that the Lions might have to play the Packers, it was just like, of course, in a season where they looked dead, they saved their season by coming into Ford Field on Thanksgiving and kicking our ass. It's just why won't these gnats go away, but they're never going to go away because they're set up to at least be a threat for many years to come. So where do the Cowboys fall in? And that's why I bring it up because I think the Cowboys go a hell of a lot higher on this list than maybe any of us want to remember. And again, I think a lot of that stems from whether it be 2014, we all know the flag being picked up. I still does in the helmet is that it is one of my most infuriating moments as a sports fan. I'm serious. I big fan. I could see you getting worked up. I'm not joking. I was screaming. I was bent over double. Yes, he took his helmet up. That's not it. That's not an opinion. That is not negotiable. That is an automatic flag. You fire the flag automatically for that. So those are the things and then obviously shipper and and and did he report did he not report and all that stuff. We've seen too many shenanigans. So that's why I think the Dallas Cowboys are a lot higher on this list than any of us want to admit. The Dallas Cowboys are number three for me behind the Packers and the Bears. And I think the reason that the Bears might be below the Cowboys even in my go Packers Cowboys Bears. And I think the reason I don't hate hate the Bears as much as I hate the Packers is because I love to J Cutler. Smokin' J. I love J. I love J. I love J. I love that piece of work. J. I love J. I love J. Cutler. Like I love Blake Bortles. Like they're just like Jake Cutler. Aaron Rodgers. You hate him because he's so good. J. Cutler is just so goofy and stupid but also in a cannon and would truck people like J. Cutler is a man dude. I've never heard anybody or say they like J. Cutler like that. That was like. It's not like he was super good and winning all these things. He was fun to watch. You never know where he could go for 300 yards and three touchdowns or turn it over. He would truck people at the goal line. Don't laugh. Don't laugh two years he mailed it in. Well he mailed it to F.A. I have a unique perspective on this because I actually did grow up in Illinois. I have a lot of bare fan friends and the consensus around J. Cutler is that I don't know how to explain it because it's complicated. On one hand when J. Cutler was the quarterback that's the most modern the Bears offense looked in their entire history. They have one of the most more big quarterback histories you'll ever want to see the Chicago Bears. You could argue their best quarterback in history. I actually don't think it's arguable is Sid Luckman. Jim McMahon you could argue was okay. He got hurt a lot. And then there was J. Cutler who had moments especially when he had a Brandon Marshall who where he would throw sometimes for 303 touchdowns but he would also throw some of the stupidest interceptions you would ever see. Actually that helped out the Lions quite a bit but it was just he just didn't. I don't think he likes football. I think he likes what football and the talent that he was you know he liked the money. He liked the money. That's it. He liked it. That's what I'm saying. And he didn't like pretend to be something he wanted. You know this is Jake. Listen he got the prom queen. He lost the prom. All right. He said the white boy got millions. I'm gonna stay in my backyard. Hunt fish and drink beer. That's J. Cutler won. I would do the same exact thing. You know what you bring up such a great point. Remember the Bears went to the Super Bowl Rex Grossman. He's more respected in that town. Rex he was their quarterback. That was the worst offense. It was. I'll never forget like love he had in those press conferences because everybody and he go well we're turning to right. I'm going to hope it continues. He knew damn well it wasn't going to continue. At some point time it was going to run out. It just happened so happens that it ran out in the Super Bowl. But now I can like the Dallas Cowboys are up on everybody's list. Aren't they? I mean like every lion fan hates the Cowboys. You know honestly Sean you have no idea how much that Dez running on the field with this helmet off spoke to me. I actually had quite the meltdown on Wake Up Wood word one day where I just went from 0 to 60 really quick. I'll keep it. I'll keep it under control this time. Dez Bryant ran onto the field with his helmet off. And oh by the way I'm not sure if he had a role in it. Not only did they not give him a penalty they picked up the flag. That was at that time was unheard of. Was Dez with his crazy eyes and his dumbassery enough to change your mind. Rex are you kidding me? You know what? It made me very very happy that Dez didn't catch it against against the Packers. And it's funny him not catching it or not catching it helped the Packers. Yeah. No but I don't want to help the Packers but I didn't even care. It was like boo hoo bitch. And you know what else? His career fell off of a cliff after 24 and all I can do is sit back and just you know take a little drink you know. Yeah just hate to see it right. Couldn't have happened to a worse P.O.S. Dez Bryant. Big fact. You know this is amazing. And we were talking about it because I mean this this goes back a long way. You know the Lions had their number for a while. That's kind of changed in recent years. But the Lions in the 80s and the 90s like spending what was it six out of seven or something like that. I mean they had their number including you know obviously the playoff game which which which was disgusting and then that that classic Monday night game. But the Dallas Cowboys just seemed to bring out something and there have been more weird finishes in the series. When I was a kid and you guys can look this up. They beat the Cowboys on the last play of the game in 1981. It was a 47 yard field goal by Eddie Murray with 12 men on the field and the cover the cover of the paper the free press the next day it said the dirty dozen and it showed the 12 Lions on the field. But because it was against the Cowboys I think everybody went that's cool. You know we've seen the Cowboys get those breaks and I think last year I think as I've gotten older parenting will teach you to bring it down a little bit. I used to lose my mind like you flannel make no mistake about that. But the closest I came to having a meltdown was last December 30th. Because you can't justify it. There's no explanation that you can give. And then you know what you do. You're like glutton for punishment. You're waiting for the pool report to come out. Remember that whole bit that night. You're staying up on Twitter waiting for the pool report to come out to see how they tried to explain it away. And there's no way to lie. So there was none of us who are going to be happy that night KG. Yes. You're just prolonging the inevitable. You were going to lose your shit one way or the other. And that's exactly what happened. So like I said I kind of thought it was funny this week that the Lions tried to distance themselves from that. Sorry guys I call bullshit. I know you're all thinking about that the same way we're thinking about it. You gotta. Unfortunately if you're the Lions you can't leave it in the hands of the refs because we mentioned it with the flag that was picked up. Des Bryant with his helmet the decker didn't report. Those are two circumstance. I'm not usually a blame the refs guy for real. I'm not. But those were a couple. I'm not even gonna. I'm not even mentioning when it comes to 2014 about the passenger fairness or wasn't a passenger fairness. It's about Des Bryant. It was as clear as Dave you can't do that. And we saw on December 30th. They allowed us Lions fans to celebrate for damn near 20 seconds. And then it's like oh there's a flag and you can see it. Decker reported. You can see it with your own eyes. The Lions should have at the very least been allowed to take a one point lead with 20 seconds left and I feel confident that they could hold the Cowboys scoreless and eventually end up winning that game. There's one comment I want to read before we get to break and we talk a little bit of college football matchups. In turn chase my friend of me. Des Bryant Torres Achilles and was never the same. I understand that and I'm not like Neil Rule. I don't a relish player's injury. It's just you know I'm not saying it was karma because nobody deserves to tear their Achilles. I'd like to see him healthy. But the facts are is that Des Bryant had three straight thousand yard seasons was one of the best receivers in the NFL. And then the rest of his career he did pretty much bump kiss. And I'm fine with that. I'm actually happy. Listen can I can I make one exception? I wouldn't mind if Stephen Quand's leg fell off. I wouldn't like you could reattach it. Like I'm not saying like he's going to lose it forever. But like if his leg fell off today and you reattach it and you said well you can use it again in two weeks. I I wouldn't mind. I hate that. I'm kind of rooting for an injury. Stephen Quand is hitting 500. Yeah. Wow. 500. See what he could do. May he's not going to use his leg. The lake that fell off as a bat. Stay out of the game. Quand he probably still go one for four. Yeah. With one lake. I'm going to try me nuts man. So if he if he wanted to get you know get get injured today so he can't play in game five. That'd be okay. All right. As long as he's he's he's better after the after Cleveland goes home. He's better. Yep. He's absolutely better. Sam you know about that. It's about ask their car. I did predict a lot of injuries last year. I didn't root for them. But one of we used to do predictions on the older iteration of the morning show and one of the things that I would always say. I don't know if it was necessarily for lions or all games. I would predict a lot of this quarterback's going to get knocked out of the game. I think I predicted Baker to get knocked out of a game. Derek Carr and then that just kind of became my stick. Yeah. The 85 bears that every week they knock somebody out. It was unbelievable. Yeah. And more often than not they they it was it was kind of like an execution. I mean they killed guys. Go back and look at the gate was legal back then. Yeah. They killed guys. It's it's incredible. It's why I hated the bears. Gosh damn I hated them. Yes. And uh oh Freddy felt 313 just before. Hey Amazon Prime members. Although I don't know if it would have played out quite the same but still the lion should have at the very least been a head by one with 20 seconds left and then if the Cowboys go down and kick a field goal you live with it but not where it was basically stolen. Hey, welcome back to big D energy live on the Woodward sports network. I am flannel Sam. The man to my left is Sean belegion. And before we sign off, we got to talk a little bit of college football because even though Michigan and Michigan State are not playing, it's certainly there's certainly a lot of big match ups and I think none bigger than Oregon, Ohio State. How do you see that one playing? I I still think Ohio State is the team to beat. I said it all summer. I think they got a giant chip on their shoulder. Oregon has looked better. Make no mistake about that. You know, to the people out there that thought they were a super team, some of the wind was taken out of their sail early on in the season, but you're seeing them go like this. I still have questions about their quarterback. You and I had a look at him last last week, Spenny. Yeah, he he does dumb things. There's no other way to say that. He really does. He does dumb things. You know, for a guy that's been much ballyhoot, I I still think he makes a ton of dumb throws. But conversely to the questions that Ohio State had about their quarterback and bouncing from K state, there there are some questions about him as well. But I think marquee matchup. There's no doubt about that. You know, I look, the Red River is still the Red River. And if there was a chance for Texas to remember that they're supposed to gag somewhere along the way, this is a glorious opportunity to do it. They won't this week. I think they pound Oklahoma, but you know, there's some some less thans as well. And when I mean less than, you know, maybe not as high unless you Ole Miss, you know, how do they bounce back? And what does Alabama do after being shocked last week against South Carolina? I like this schedule a lot. This is one I wish the Tigers were playing a different day because there's a lot of college football games I'd like to watch this weekend. Well, and I know that you're a big fan. I say that sarcastically of Lane Kiffin. There's nothing there. Like a head that links here that the mere fact that we continue to have this conversation for a decade to what is he won? Seriously, Google is your friend. I want you to look up Lane Kiffin's track record. Go look it. He has it, but people like you know, there's nothing there. I'll tell you what, I love Lane Kiffin, like I love Jay Cutler, like I love Blake Bortles. They're all of the same three. There's nothing there. No, no, there's nothing there. But he's a bro. I love Lane Kiffin for sure. There's no doubt about that. I don't want to say there's nothing there because he's a good he's a good offensive mind and Ole Miss is in a better position than they've been in previous years. I know that under Hugh Freeze, they had some success, but you know, everything that came along with Hugh Freeze and for a lot of their franchise, their history, they just weren't a good program. I was awful with the Raiders. This fair. He was so awful with USC, his athletic director met him on the tarmac to fire him. That's how awfully was at USC. He was he was awful. Every spot he's I don't want to say awful that he hasn't come close to winning in any spot he's been. And yet, I think a lot of people kind of put now, is he good for college football? Yeah. Yes. Yes, he is. He's good for college football. He's I miss characters in college football. We don't have so many characters now. I miss, you know, Florida and Tennessee is getting together, right? Phil Fomer and Steve Spurrier going at one another. I missed that shit. He's a he's a character. But in terms of like, what is he one? There's nothing there. There is literally nothing there on Lane Kiffin's resume. And so for all the chatter, and you know what, you're right, he might have like a Tommy Tuberville type year or have that Hugh Freeze type year or something like that. But when when people talk about putting Lane Kiffin near the top of anything, I can't help but diggle. Well, you saw, I mean, when we look at the Ole Miss and LSU matchup, I look at two teams that let one slip away that you just can't afford to. I mean, I'm sure you were taking a sip of your tea when Ole Miss lost that home to Kentucky. That was probably the most predictable thing in the world that you are at least something like that would have 100%. Yeah. And listen, I've said this all meals is like one of the coolest places you could see a game. Like, I am not joking. It is one of the grove there. Thank me later. If you get a chance to go down, it's phenomenal. But no, you're absolutely right. I mean, Lane Kiffin is going to do Lane Kiffin things. And you know, this is a battle of who's going to screw it up, right? Because you know, BK, BK can, you know, snatch a loss out of the jaws of victory any day of the week. So that's what's going to be funny when you get two teams like that together. And I'll tell you what with LSU, that that loss to USC is aging poorly, I would say. At the time, at the time, I thought that USC would, I'm not going to say they'd make the college football playoff, but you know what? I'm like, they beat LSU regardless of what you think of LSU, and that they're not as talented as in years past. I'm like, that's an impressive win. However, USC and I'll grant them this that traveling to Minnesota and traveling to Michigan. It's not something they're used to. It's not something that is easy. If you're USC, you got to at least win one of those games and they didn't do it. Hey, Amazon Prime members, why pay more for groceries when you can save big on thousands of items at Amazon Fresh. So the Ole Miss LSU, this might honestly be a battle of who stays alive for the college football playoff. I understand that nobody's mathematically eliminated if they lose, but two losses this early in the season here, Ole Miss LSU, I think you're for all intents and purposes done. Well, and that I remember doing a show with you in the summer time and all of us were together and that, you know, this is uncharted territory that we're going down. Okay, we think we know how it's going to work, but we don't. I have the feeling, especially the way a lot of schedules are configured, you're going to see a couple, at least a couple, really good three losses teams kind of left out in the dark. And that's going to suck because you're going to see some three loss teams get in. I don't think there's any question about that, but I think you're going to see a couple really good three loss teams. And it's now, now you're at the position, well, what are you going to do? I mean, listen, we talked about this early, flannel, Penn State schedule, right? They're making the playoff whether you like it or not. You wrote that up. And I was like, he's not wrong. And we all know, and let's put Franklin in that group of coaches that you know, are never going to get it done at the end of the day. So, you know, and then there are other intriguing ones. Listen, K State and Colorado for all the for all the shitting that people have done. Yes, Sam prime time. Yes, Sam. No, listen, I'm not saying it wasn't deserved. Okay, Colorado's four and one. And if they can knock off rank K State at home, all of a sudden, all that hype that went away, you know, as well as I do, it's going to come back. Yes, it is. And I can, I can separate things because I believe that at least we believe, well, any who that my year one criticism of Dion Sanders was justified, whether people like it or not, I guess 100% it was everybody else in this room. No, no, it was, it was you. I think you were kind of leaning more into attacking his character as a coach and all the stuff that happened in the off season, you know, leading up to this season. I know you didn't like that very much. But I kept trying to tell you all like Dion hasn't failed anywhere he's been. I know this is his personality, but it's always been his personality. You either like it or you don't. Well, he's going to be successful. Why? Yeah. Well, the biggest thing is, you know, for for all of the hype, for all of the of the coverage and everything, eventually you have to start winning football. Oh, for sure. Okay. Because a year ago at this time, it was going crazy. And I remember thinking to myself, every four and five star kid is going to want to go to Colorado. He's going to have a line out the door of people seeking him out. Okay. But then when loss after loss after loss happens, that goes out the window. Guess what? You start winning football games again. And all of a sudden the hype train pulls back into the station. It's the same thing. Think about it. Like honestly, if you're a kid, this goes back to what we talked about with Michigan. Okay. If I'm a quarterback, would I rather stay down in Orlando, Florida, playing for Central Michigan or Central Florida, or would I go to Michigan and know that I'm the best quarterback in that room and know I'm playing for the defending national champion, who's going to be on national television almost every week, send me to Michigan, let people, I'm going to show people what I'm about, all about. And whether we'd like to admit it or not, that's what's happening with Colorado. If they continue to win games, all of a sudden, all those kids are going to start knocking on that door again. And they know they're going to be on television. And they know that Deon's going to be the face of everything. It's going to be interesting because if they can keep winning some football games, look out. If you think the hype was bad last year, I just going to get worse this year. I firmly believe it. I don't know if I got a chance to say this on air because Colorado hasn't been brought up, but I definitely admitted this in private conversations that went over Central Florida was nice. Do I think Central Florida was fraudulent? Yes, but Colorado kicked the crap out of them. I'm not going to take away anything from that. And Central Florida were double digit favorites. That's a great win. And as of right now, my thing with Colorado was this season, I wasn't saying you got to go to the college football playoff. I was like, all the Deon nut huggers can STF you until they make a bowl game. But it's looking like they will make a bowl on the way. I told you there's no way he wins four games again. He's still gone after Shadoor leaves. I know big facts, especially with how Florida State was going down over there. He's gone. He is going to get the Florida State job, isn't he? Yeah, be fascinating. That would be that would be so good for college football. It'd be great. I can't let me and Florida State both back. I mean, as soon as Shadoor hit that door, he is out of here. Yeah. And that's fair. But I, but if Colorado makes a bowl game, certainly if they win seven, eight games, it's a success. And I'm going to, you know, shut my trap about Colorado. It's not easy for them moving forward. Really, the only game that you look at and you say, Oh, that's a W is against Kansas. You know that now there are earthbeaters on there. I mean, you taught us a pretty good team. But if you look at their schedule looking forward, I'd be stunned. My jaw would drop if they weren't bowl. I mean, really, my jaw. And it gets off the hook if they beat K state this weekend, because all of a sudden they're five in one on the cosmic going to one more to last year. Yep. You know they're going to be singing that song because it sells that it does it sells. And it was so close to doing what I predicted it would do and going off the rails. When Colorado was facing a Hail Mary against Baylor, I'm like, these bums are going to lose to Baylor and I'm going to be cackling till the cows come home. They know what they got it done. They got it done. Put that hood up, man. Should do or made a hell of a throw to a legend, a Western and then Travis Hunter knocked the ball out from the Baylor ball here at the goal line and then it's been up from there. So we shall see. I'm okay admitting I'm wrong if Dion proves it this year, but all I've ever said was that the hype last year and the results, it just didn't. And you said he's a bad father. I may have. I may have. And you said he was going to throw the hood at all. Let's, uh, let's do P fit and Dr. Pearson then just sign off. Absolutely. Planet fitness, fitness that fits your budget.
