So how do you feel like the helmet carry on the do-dirt compares to the helmet carry on the raid? What made you the raids integrated? There's no like we were straps It's just like as like it's almost like on the top of the bag which looks merely sleek in my opinion Makes you submit like I think yes, you're I wonder if you can use your diagonal carry on the raid with your helmet stowed That's what I love in a lot of backs if you can't redo that Well, that's why I want it back is because obviously that's kind of not gonna happen most time But it can which it looks like I think it looks like good. It'd be great, but He was designed to be put extra gear inside your helmet for You know, so I use like what you can the design Designer of the pack the owner of a raid. He said that you can take like undo one like take one strap off your shoulder He'll reach around and pull like cramp on something like that from your under your helmet So it's very versatile is what it is Like he designed it with a purpose. That's why I love about it So how do you make how does that work? Do you know like is it does does the helmet carry like the fabric does it wrap around or how do you make sure? It's not coming out of the helmet like out the sides Why you're doing so let me say I'm gonna pull a picture on quick to show you obviously you guys can all go to raid Research comm just what it is raid our a IDE research Then you'll get pictures we won't put any on the on the podcast title because I figured that's not gonna be that Helpful for you guys cuz you're gonna be like you'll look at that at the episode and be like what the heck? Why are these random pictures of this random brand? It's not helping things right here the helmet carry is supposed to be oh It comes in white too. I thought it was just black a white and black nice. I'll probably get in the black So the helmet carry is actually they have features. That's why I like them as well But here we go helmet carry So the integrated helmet carry is hot yep, you can use diagonal ski carry That okay that feature alone. I have not personally come across a pack that lets you do both at the same time So yeah, which is really nice cuz I feel like I only use the diagonal carry for like a Random steep section that I almost carry it's like right. It's like up here It's like inside the actual like it's always like almost inside the pack So it's almost actually it's almost like a rollout guys And so it's it's like it's almost like a little cone on top. It's very secure I highly recommend checking it out. Obviously, we don't have real-life experience with it But it looks really nice and we're excited to try it this season. I mean I did buy their garden build this a few days ago I've used the only two runs. I can't see much about it. So far though I didn't like it the first run but the more I use it the more strong on me And let me say the height the quality of it for a hundred people already run belt You'd hope it's not feels nice. It feels top tier. Yeah, like it's it is and it I believe that's the same fabric across space Are in fabric. I use more fabrics. These are durable fragrance on this is more lightweight So if that is the lightweight fabric then the pack is gonna be super durable because like that thing feels like Dyneema almost mm-hmm. Yeah, it's nice raid research. Shout out to them. They seem really nice If you have the money, all right, if you have the money, that's always a problem All right, so then apparel, right? Yeah apparel Well, I don't have much money to spend my apparel blown on gear this year for the time being I'm just using my patagonia stuff. I use from last season even with the crampon tear in it I'm sending those off. I mean I need to send those off to pat yarnia Probably today actually I mean get the shipping labels like it's like 15 bucks to I'm basically they say you're basically preparing for shipping They're very free. I think you should be repairable thing. It's not that big with hair I mean, it's pretty bad looking just like one tear but that's really a packer itself basically Let you send your gear back in for 15 bucks and they'll give it back to you better than it was. That's so awesome I'm not a huge like Environmentalist guy, but like come on if we can fix products. Let's fix products. It's just wasteful to just chuck stuff out Yeah, it's more like there. Yeah, I mean some people say they're hypocritical of their stuff Obviously, I mean there could be some truth that but they are in my opinion from what I know They are when the leading brands in the industry anyways, so it's like I don't mind supporting them They do give it that so nice. Yeah. Yeah, so I've are you how are you dressing like layering wise? Are you going in thermals underneath? I think like I've said before so I were running short underneath it my pagrin average horse as well Have my there's not run short. Yes. Oh, it's a massive brand guy. Just so you know that is the pad going to like dirt bags for special parties right now nice They're as far as for they got as far as I got in longer legs, but I like that, you know I look cooler, but they're in there to stir like I'm we're like getting torn up on them, but I was underneath there Snow pants if it's a colder day, I will wear thermals underneath there I just wear like some backcountry like thermal kit like some backcountry calm Like their own brand and then I got a new top face layer last year It was the pagrin like I think our one half zip I like that because it breathes really well use it. I know it's all days until it's like really really really hot I really like that layer to come with the feel is pretty durable As a hood is zips up you can like actually zip it up over like your nose. I'm most like you almost get a bill It's I don't even bring gators anymore. It's really really really cold. I wear that most time you guys have my Shell over that. I will say my stuff is that like is resort here. It's gonna be heavier. My pants do have zips my jacket as I'm zips That's what it is, but washes is always a warmer climate. Yeah, like you see people that throwing in British color Like they're running jackpot out like I can't wish I could do that because then you just unzip your you could open your pit zips Where that we get top zip the pit zip it up Zip your pant legs up and you're ready to go ski. Yeah, I know for me on the uphill in the Wasatch Especially for a lot of the tours we do we start fairly low And so I am personally always just long-sleeve and bibs on on the uphill jackets in the pack. Yeah, honestly in some ways I wish I could just not wear a jacket a lot of the times It's I feel like I'm moving enough or my laps are short enough that I don't necessarily need all that is mostly just the waterproofing I will say though that like a Big thing is I think we both have heavier. We have really heavy. So I think we were actually get like real touring like kids Be a lot more comfortable in terms of what we could do. I mean your uncle the famous Danny Bryson Yeah, he's pretty well done around these areas for skiing and he seems to see this jacket on most days Let's be honest. Yeah, that's true. He's also been skiing for 20 years. Yeah, exactly and He is wearing a soft shell most of the time. Yeah, also I think soft doesn't the water show does make sense. I mean I have this year I actually bought the Flylo smith bib as and it is a soft shell bib technically speaking. Yeah, here check it out But then I have the Flylo Quantum Pro for my upper I Want to buy a proper ski touring jacket and I will Hopefully but right now I'm not that rich at the moment. Hopefully eventually we'll get there. Maybe this season, but we'll figure that out Yeah, that's nice. I feel like yeah, like soft shell gear and of Wasatch like even our storm days You can kind of get with the soft shell a lot This is like like unless you're skiing like Utah County, but you're skiing like salt like kind of little cotton We're like I know crazy gold I'm gonna be honest. You can probably get the soft shell I mean do you probably get wet again by the end or most likely but that's where I eat there's quivers in back countries Yeah, everything I feel like I feel like also. It's kind of unique with us is that 99% of our snow Like the moisture content is like a third of a percent or less greatest owner. Maybe yeah exactly It's like 0.35 or something like that. It's not insane. Yeah, it's insane and so It's so dry that you don't get wet 99% of the time Like you're only really a web resort skiing and that's yeah, we see we get some days That's below 8,000 feet like the entire time So it's gonna be heavier snow more dense anyways more wet and like yeah You only get so from this like cold like rainy days actually would be honest So honestly, I only get wet in the backcountry from sweating through my layers. Yes, honestly that is a fact Which side note is does my fault that should not be happening under any circumstances stop sweating through layers I've been watching a video about how to layer exactly great for actually just watch this video or even the collage trimmers videos Like both guys. They're definitely more of the they're not in the super like, you know Fast and light spectrum, but they do give you from really inside some like squat management That's a big thing across any Also, I would take any mountain sport beyond this Yeah, and I know you guys might wonder oh that you know They're a plug for their brand which obviously is always gonna be true to some case But also they are both big enough athletes that I mean we saw it with Nikolai Schurmer Dean if it's boots start stopped working for him. He left the brand got sponsored by the bonfire being a fit I don't know what he wasn't okay, but he's still like he's a big enough athlete to go and Not be the dead horse. They'll find new sponsors or try a new gear. Well, he just he's just I think I just want to have a Letterman work is not actually, you know, he's just showing what she actually was from a certain brand He's showing how they're in works regardless like soft shell at the gas or like soft shell basically or mid-layers He's showing how all that works with as what is the importance on is what brand does it best right had later with what you have Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, I think I covered up parallel then. Yep. Do you want to go spiky stuff next? I did like spiky stuff. So so my spiky stuff. I've got the let's clarify. What is spiky? Okay, spiky stuff to me is Sometimes an ice axe during the season like mid-season. Wasatch is pretty soft. You don't generally need spiky stuff, but an ice axe can be confidence inspiring When we say spiky stuff, we need like ski crampons Yeah, food crampons anything metal I can stab you. Yeah, it's looking like kind of you know hurt you actually Let's say that can drop blood. We'll call that spiky stuff Yeah, so yeah crampons ski crampons and boot cramp. Well, yeah boot crampons ski crampons and ice axes so I Currently have a petal ride ice axe as my cramp on and then I will Excuse me as my ice axe and then I've got a harping blue ice in Duro. Yeah blue ice harping in Duro. Yeah, yeah, I may have Said that but that's my boot cramp on and then I have or will have some plumb ski crampons Whatever ski cramp ons match my binding Yeah, I also have the blue ice harping and Duro. I'm actually you copied me on that. I mean, I thought it was a good decision So I actually try them from my friends for a single day I was like I need crampons like last minute. Like I don't have some kind of bar yours for one day It's like cool to like go send it. That was that was really awesome I use them like dang these are like the best crampons like ever like there's they were easy It's like I'm first time using crampons. I'm unique with that and they were great idea easy to figure out like just Awesome, so it's like sweet. We'll get a pair of these in the full steel version because if you if you don't need to know about me I abuse my dear. I have to true. You know paper. I trash it. I'll say that like I Maybe it for the first a little bit might actually you know what screw it. I've this gear supposed to be used, right? So I got full steel so I can walk on rocks because I do dumb stuff like that right now and then yeah I have the black diamond venom LT attacks or it's just the lightest weight green like ski ice axe Got that actually got it for trail running in the spring after that fat season of ours 2023 I got that I was like whoa got trouble I can't get out until like August without an ice axe because we have so much stuff. I bought that really handy and Then making me jealous was busy running boring fun, but kind of boring stuff like squat peak like loser stuff Yeah, I love squat peak when it was still I was running 10th and stuff. I was being cool exactly I'm taking up that one time after I did like day four and you yeah But you know, I've never been very good in snow. Yeah, even those skis. Let's be honest. Yeah, yeah, you're not wrong Honestly, it's worse when the skis come off when the skis come off. It's like you have a four-foot patch of snow I'm almost guaranteed to fall on it. That's why I'm like let me bring an ice axe even though It's 30 degrees just because I'm almost guaranteed to fall. Yeah, you know, he makes good points here He's definitely he's gonna be overexaggering a little bit, but it actually is pretty close I mean at least I'm honest and I yeah Yeah, I know that he's overexaggering on the more honest size Yeah, give him that because I could be like yeah, I'm really stuck honestly. So yeah, I have to got that ice axe for that year uh and I used it as like well to ski I don't use a skiing I'm just gonna use until it tips but I have some bigger plans for this bigger ambitions for this next season Uh, I'm not gonna exactly say I have a plan, but I will say steeper further faster longer essentially Yeah, no, I was yeah, it's just gnarlier Uh, which means going uphill is also gnarlier while on the downhill So I'm gonna get some more technical access probably I've got a big fan of blue ice crampons. I want to support a brand. So I'll probably get the blue ice Uh, how many birds? No, I remember it's like their ultralight. That's like 20 vol dollars I don't pay in that until like two more years But they have the they're like technical attacks. So it's like the achila That's so no the blue ice achila. I actually think it says it's the red ones They're about 49 centimeters long 47. You're like a little longer than like your standard Achila size but it gives you more leverage is a little heavier to more weight in the swing weight Uh small I think it's like compared to petal gold. There's kind of like the benchmark at that It's there's a little heavier longer
