Hexcrawl 82 - The Search for Shrubritney
Artvirious leads Lysander, Sir Parrik, and Flip into the Feywild to find the missing treant druid Shrubritney. There, the servants of the Dewdrop Man take umbrage with the way the kingdom of Upperthorn is building up industry near the Southwood. Floki's heritage as a descendant of the green dragon Mornagauth is also a source of tension for the archfey, and he is confronted with an ultimatum.

D&D nerds go hand in hand let's get started Gents open a can. Hi and welcome to D&D nerds we're down all of our mics at the moment but we think one is on the way so greetings to you wherever you may be it's my birthday happy birthday to me yeah and warm is our caller congratulations thank you what's happening in your domain or in your rooms and teams is is that is worth highlighting well over and Lord things are rough and Lord things are rough especially can't get from one side of things to the other without that room being there so you might need to do something about that at some point we'll get there eventually instead you're hard guards we had a bunch of guards yeah but like the cheap terrible kind well that's what we got yes what you got yeah but I got like 20 guys yeah yeah yeah I didn't even maybe they're like from some caravan I came through and they were made anywhere else I don't know what their I mean they're all said spies obviously that's why they're cheap yeah yeah so yeah we did that after a guard post in front for them to accept rhymes to let bad guys in your back into your house probably you know but there we go and then over in upper thorns things also went poorly things also went poorly there were what three ones in a row well not in a row but you had a one a lot one and lower well then four because you had you had one of your loyalty role was a one and then both your agent roles were ones they were both ones they were both ones you won don't bash your hand you won don't sure Brittany which is why we're here tonight that's right I forgot I won both of them yeah and you don't actually know what's happened to either of those people but I do actually I don't need it but we'll roll some dice at some point so there's some fey issues but we don't know why right and if you hadn't rolled all that ones then we'd be narratively somewhere else but here we are you're probably a little or fix it fixing a sitting room or we'd still be dwarves are we still we door yeah I hope we wouldn't have spent the whole turning poor basher into other flightless birds yeah it's rude they think it's hilarious yeah to their credit so since there's two these are a row there is the concern of like is this just coincidence is a hag coming back into town what's up best thing to do in the studious phase a sense of unscary arties about the scariest thing there is we have I'm not sure I follow your logic there but okay I long time ago it was quite a while ago I thought it was the fairy dragon all right tik-tik-tok well this might be trouble a little grasshopper man I know my frogs I mean or it could be real resolved real quick yeah I realized that things go south or sideways in this there's a contingent that be very happy the other contingent of the electric party tonight sorry said again there's a contingent they end this is going to search around sure everyone search are you looking for clues such that I would call for investigate or are you merely looking to perceive your surroundings and see what I tell you based on that already is going to perceive you're okay then that's the kind of thing I will tell you um you know I'm not going to give you clues by choosing perceive I know you're choosing it for your roles but I'm just I'm just double-checking my favorite enemy stuff sure sure does not help perception 26 okay you astutely perceive everything that is there and you can tell that there have been little tiny footprints sometimes they take a few steps and then they come up and then they take a few steps someplace else you know not concurrently and those tend to center around the statue itself the bowl sniffing the bowl you can smell that there wasn't at some point in the recent past some milk in it uh that you know have you asked to wait to have been days ago at most um and you perceive that the wind here is different than the wind as much as 100 feet away it doesn't seem to be blowing quite the same directions okay what do we have to make an offer blue what what is Kontia the goddess of farming no agriculture yeah I mean it's an old statue of Kontia but it's not necessarily Kontia that's good that you're making the offering too um it tends to be the fate yeah come here crew or do you want us to bring everyone in i mean if if he brought his whole whole army that would be a bit much but if it's if it's just u4 plus five bullywugs that's manageable and the retainers the um they're just flavor okay well yeah that's not really a problem any as long as you have minis for everyone if we need them yep all right we're all going in or if you if but remember that i yeah i mean weird things happen in the right things happen in the fey wild and not everybody who goes in is the same when they come out right and so if that's a problem for you and your NPCs then like you are aware of the possible consequences there sometimes it's awesome sometimes it's awesome yeah maybe my horse will get to start talking never great i try not to repeat things too much well a lot a rain or no you appear to be in the in the middle of a field there are some rolling hills nearby not really even any trees there are you know a few small plants that aren't grass but there's nothing in particular about this spot that seems to have set it apart other than the fact that you're standing in it all right i haven't met this for but i don't think she's here probably need to go somewhere let's head towards the hills that's any direction oh any direction but it looks like okay let's go we all go into different directions what's the highest point that we can see let's head that direction do you have to get up yeah i mean they're all roughly the same um so roll the d6 for your hex direction if you like four okay um well yeah right according to if if it is in fact morning and the sun is in the east then you're headed south if all of those things are true all right all right we go that way okay um and we do a spotting no no most hex actions don't apply in very well right fails it's true you know all this this fault goes back to nuclear earth shaper so she regionally run the snot works she made it so it was more polluting than it should have been she yeah and uh she remember that she was a frog but we determined she was probably a frog yeah she was not a real earth shaper because she could never succeed in a single role and she ended up dying in a cave and she ended up dying okay which i don't know let's say earth shaper would not have no yeah wow yeah so maybe she was uh you know a plant from some other faction trying to do you wrong get you on the do drop man's wrong side maybe it's all the long game of somebody else but good luck convinced me with that can you imagine someone doing some sort of false flag operation right the inside of proxy war dude but whatever we can ascribe all of that to my cutting this but it didn't do pretty much dice rolls okay so you're here uh there's um i have it sort of like uh as a cult shrine um and uh there isn't a probably able to take out the cult leader right uh nine peric 16 so um uh yeah so again you end up having to back off a little bit he couldn't go in because it's still the gut that oh that's true that remember it it was it was hallowed against fame that's right so you're affected right so thank goodness for our narrative things for explaining our professionals again uh and your effectiveness was severely limited by the fact that you could not actually go in and you just had to go like whoever attack whoever they could flush out yeah are you are you also fair are you considered a human faith okay so that's gonna well let's see how guys want to roll 19 well okay I rolled a seven so what that means is you're not fair enough no you weren't able to go in but like you were this is arranged anyway yeah you were shooting into it i was playing my music and yeah doing everything sending daunting people out yeah yeah um so on the whole um you beat me you beat me uh i b u i b u so that's roughly 50 but since you call or run and since you know end of night and everything else uh like yeah you um roll 2d6 three oh that's low um okay so you've reduced the magnitude of the cult but it isn't totally totally done with it turns out they were to treat deeper into the cavern then you realized it went so yeah reduced uh the cult shrine corruption despair problem here excuse me that's the fast version of that right now it's too tough okay all right what do you want to do next time um probably go back to the doors unless someone suggests something particularly juicy on slack but i don't think someone reminds me so okay all right uh and then what does jank want to do there anything more than needed last time well no he's really fascinated by the the room so he wants to find more room carving circles etc um we can confer a little bit on slack but there's actually because of the part of the multi-level dungeon that they control there there's you could branch out on the current level and fight the human child there there's also several other levels at which you could branch out to explore or engage um so it's up to you whether you want it more of an explorer or whether you want to lead a force against the dire lord trine okay um kind of or whether you want to like come try to see try to hit uh um to call to the dragon or if there's anyway it's it's up to you kind of what your goals are okay um but you can be anything from a soldier exploration or you could let me try to like find the source of the foul water and fix that or you could be looking for the um hidden refuge although yeah that would yeah so you can do that anyway by exploring we're still missing our um dwarven war bards it's true we gotta oh that's been most of the flavor but yeah yeah yeah and uh john if you if we're going back to oasis will matter if you're not if you're not you're that we yeah we need a new character for you right i'm gonna do it with a rope that i am okay yeah i'm sorry to hear i
