The first thing I got to do them before we talk about Palace is announce some winners All right, because we've got we had a competition on Saturday, which was to win two pairs of tickets to this week's Player of the year awards, which will be talking about later when we asked you guys who you think it's gonna win Those awards I'm thinking but joining you if you're going to that will be can I get a drum roll for this? The winners are Kimberley Morris Congratulations Kimberley will be more excellent will be in contact and drum roll Kevin panther. Oh Kevin. I really hope that's his real name, but either way he's one anyway Congratulations, we will be in contact with the two of you. So yeah, I will sort out those tickets for you for Thursday right Palace one a game Wow Second win in the league in 2016 again really annoying if you're a fan of some other teams Around the mid table that to look at the mid table I realized that a team that's just won its second game and 20 has gone above you got above you Yeah, how's that happened was suddenly almost mid-table after winning Does that does that prove that we over panicked a little bit if you want to go no? No, I think I think Alan Pargy clearly made it playing it after the game on Saturday That he realized that there were Just reasons for concern. I don't think we have a panics. I think I'm naturally pressing this to be no Didn't have a panic the table we plummeted down the lead table. It took a while But we did plan it down the league table, but it was good to finish with at home with the win the atmosphere was fantastic Oh, can I ask you one question about the atmosphere? Yeah, it's slightly negative. It was fantastic It's funny negatively after the first half There were a few booze from pockets of the and it was just pockets of the main stand and the homes down What are your thoughts on that one do you ever are you ever a fan of booing or have you ever booed and to do you think that first off? James actually deserved booze. Oh Am I a fan of booing not really I think I think you've always got to get behind you team I say don't you should be doing after 45 minutes of football. Yeah now I know that some people say it wasn't just 45 minutes. It was basically since Christmas. They were booing But you've got a team that is mid-table Was very unlikely to go down at half time even though we weren't winning in a cup final I thought it was a little harsh. I understand it, but I think it was harsh I think you've got to get if you all those players you walk in for our time and people are booing him He's saying I've got 45 minutes to go get behind them. Well people I'm sorry Sorry, there was two not saying well the players players playing badly. They need to know but surely they know anyway, I am This is all kind of surprised me because the only booing I became aware of somebody told me that the they were doing Charlie Adam basically for a couple of really harsh tackles I wasn't certainly wasn't aware of any booing where we were so this is this this has come as a story to me that some people would be in Paris off It would have been harsh in any circumstances for the first ten minutes. We played Actually quite well. Yeah, we do. Yeah, and then stoke started playing with a little bit of abandon. It's still very physical It's still through left a lot of Left a lot of foot in but they played where you are in Boula was a really good player. They got some it was a bit annoying to see Charlie Adam Chugging up as fast as he could possibly go because we could see what was happening at the defense group, but And I suppose people who booed would put maybe would be taking a credit for the much improved second half, but I would I would like to think they won't but it certainly that was in that wasn't in keeping with the atmosphere because the atmosphere and It was very and it was it was really odd. It felt really odd when it was happening. It felt like why are you doing this? It didn't really warrant it. I thought we did play that well. Hmm, but Some was out. We're going to the 45 minutes ago and we we knew we could get back into the game. Mm-hmm came was no for mine I mean if you if you that says we saw subsequently the last the Santa Anton under war knock, you know We're after that performance at for at last five minutes when you're bottom of the league and playing terribly Yeah, I never advocate booing but you could kind of understand my people might do that That feels like everything's falling apart. But half time again. So what wasn't that bad? No, I think in 40 I can remember one or two occasions when an individual players come in for stick But if I ever have booed, it's at the end of the game and it's always towards the manager not the yeah not the players because And one of the things you can't level at any of the players this season at any time is that they lacked commitment or passionate or energy or enthusiasm and In the past if that has happened you tend to think work That's what to be managers for as well and in the past for you know, most pallet teams have Had the energy in the commitment, but it's just the manager hasn't been good enough So it that's a very odd thing if people were booing on it was it was very short sighted I felt as you know, you look at that that game on Saturday now I'm not saying it's an exact replica of our season in reverse But it almost was you know, we had a terrible first-off and a lot a lot better second off And the season's been great first off not very good second off. Yeah, so you so but my point is that things change Things can change especially at half time. Yeah, you know things always change, you know And you just want them to go out and change and you know Respect to party and respect the team they came out all guns blazing and you know, and what difference it was You know, which we should it in theory won that game. I mean, I mean we did win it, but my goals. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I could if we were If not actually just one That morning we were fourth, but I Could understand I could probably understand it. We're given the circumstances giving them a heartbeat. Everybody was mm-hmm at the start of the game I know it does it does and also dangerous hit on a really good point there because Almost every game this season or not all of them, but most of them something has changed at half time Puns new cars away before we were brilliant and then we're terrible We've had so many games where it has changed at half time that you you cannot I don't think make up your mind on what's happening after 45 minutes of plastic season It's been a theme of our season also the thing is I'd if you want it to be cynical about part You can't make up your mind about what happened at half time on the basis of a Ball falling to pilates feet after 45 seconds. Yeah, it's almost like the semi-final in 1990 It's just just something a player just decided to put his head down. Just go for it. There's nothing tactical changed Yeah, I mean it could buy was went off with a knock or whatever But it just that blassie woke up and that just woke the whole team up. Basically referee played a good advantage I'm the subject to referee. I've all marked uses comments afterwards was just Shocking I was really pleased. I was genuinely surprised to read his comments and I was with a mate more of which I who just couldn't believe it is a neutral I'm really pleased that the press and the pundits didn't pick up and use his comments because they were I mean I know you have to protect your team, and I know you have to find excuses, but they were dirty stoke I mean the now the nad of it's just was leaving the elbow in all the time Charlie Adam You know, he said he took Charlie Adam off because he was already good with guests a record. You're rightly so Yeah, they were I know there was some robust challenges going in for me beside but properly robust But they went to a free their players went above that sure. It was like back to start the old days a little bit Yeah, and sure and him saying that it wasn't the free kick and go. Oh, hey, it was a clear free kick It was ridiculous. Yeah, there's an argument that should have been a straight record Yeah, because if he hadn't pushed gay all gay was through and it was a clear goal school an opportunity So yeah for him to say that wasn't the free kick is just huge has got form of doing that though I think he's just one of these managers I was like to talk rubbish after going to undeflect away from it was a gnome game for them as well You know, so you had to say something, you know Well, I think he was a bit upset because I know he he made a lot of effort to say well We didn't lack energy or commitment but that second half once we'd scored that was pretty much Yeah, they did pretty much lack energy and commitment They woke up only at the end because we got a bit slack a bit tired one not tired necessarily bit slack for a four minutes It's from the end of the day and yeah, yeah two chances out of nothing basically but for most of that second half we're much the better team and we The five minutes after we scored the first goal some really good football gales flick to Punching yeah, the cross from Sacco I thought Sacco had a really good game, especially second half can or can I talk talking about sorry, sorry sorry? Sorry, yeah, sorry did a good game. Well, the whole I thought the whole bad for yeah, I wore He had a better game. I think they had done a recent week Dwight Gail then we come back to this so many times in this podcast because he'll pop up now and then scores a goal Score the brace against ote What do you do with Dwight Gail? How do you fit him in is him and Wickham, which he looked like it was sort of a fourth or two at the week and wasn't it? Thought off first off first off. It was he was out on the wing Drifting and do didn't really have the he was playing well We didn't have the impact on the game. Yeah, do we think him and Wickham in more of a fourth or two might be the way for the conversation with Gail Gail Unless somebody goes mental on Sunday Gail's gonna end up being our top scorer in all competitions for the third season running and Gail played very well on Saturday especially in the second half and Gail scored two really good goals and We probably wouldn't have this conversation if we fought the heart was gonna be fit for the final I think the only and I'm slightly worried that one of the reasons that we know I think one of the reasons that Palace of talking Gail up so much He's got every chance of playing is that They they things are harm might not because really yeah, he hasn't trained It's it's not it's not being kept off the pitch for Protection sake. He's got a he's got an injury that's not looking particularly good And I think the way Gail was being talked up is because that because let's face it we said this after the game if if He wouldn't be in Gail wouldn't be anybody's starting line up No matter how well he played and we know the party wouldn't be we know that if they're all fit It's gonna be the last easy howl and Wickham with Gail. Maybe isn't and as it happens. You look at many night and on Saturday And they look without Rashford and Marcia. They've got no pace at all. They look slow and stale and there's a logic for playing Gail But there's been a logic for playing Gail in a lot of games Yeah, and he doesn't do it and I've got I I've got no doubt that Gail won't won't start As I was fit so does it then it's brilliant. He's coming into form at that at the right time Does it need to be switched around then if you are going to go with Gail and knows our heart does it need to be Tinkered a bit so the formation suits care a bit more. Yes, and I think absolutely nothing Gail would argue that that should have happened Already to be perfectly honest because what what what more can he do except be the top scorer? Yeah, and he is he is the most natural finish we've got in the club Yeah, and we did we know that 4 4 2 has worked forever team. So from Gail's point of view I don't see what else he can do. I know I thought it's really interesting because even when he went to take the free kick There are people around me going off. What's done there and take the free kick? Even though from our angle look like the keeper was doing a full-blown Hennessy and actually keep me shocking for that Yeah, yeah, and also the bloke coming out the wall, but still You know punch and let him take it and he had the confidence to take it Well imagine if Hennessy had let that free kick in yeah without being a theme of the pod wouldn't it? We'd be talking about that. Yeah, Hennessy by the way made a really good save just before the one on one The one on one was a really good save. It was a good save Yeah, and then I thought second off in particular when Stowe did wake up and throw some long balls in a full Hennessy devil's Yeah, I mean he made you could argue possibly For the chance now to which missed maybe Oh, yeah, yeah Delania Delania tried to chest it in the center of the park and lost out. So yeah, it's kind of bad back to go I mean, I think it's brilliant the girls on such good form and I said to me that I was with him So he thought he thought gale was the best player in a pitch by a long long way Hmm, but I do I am slightly worried that we're he's being talked up because I think it's a chance you might have to stop there But you think that's a worry because gale's gonna start or worry that there's a house not gonna start If yeah The way I think one of the ways to beat my man, you know, excuse me is to not have a cough Yeah, and to have the pace which you got blessings also, you know, yeah, well, so the way that it's really interesting I think just after they scored gale burst through and He's got the pace. Yeah, he's controlling the pace isn't fantastic. No, he can't carry the balls We'll wolf and velocity can carry the ball. Yeah, make yardage whatever you want to call it And especially at Wembley we saw what for what what we'll could do and he can pick the ball up really deep Take a lot of defenders with him in a way that velocity did as well and gale through all his strengths Can't do that gales and natural finish the natural potion should be playing much further up the pitch It's like you'd I don't like it gale seeing gale come to the halfway line I know he's got to be visibly seen to be working But he was when he's second half when he was playing on sort of the shoulder of the defender He was doing that he was sort of running the channels and pressing the defense Honestly, I want to see it in running sideways. It's exactly it's when he's dropping deep to pick the ball up because he wants to be seen Yeah, which is what got him sent off against my son West and that's you must feel a bit like when gale plays the team Basically needs to be set up for him. He's sort of take it takes away from punch or will for me That's it sets up for him, but he plays better in a certain in a certain role doesn't he he's he's he's got energy He's got a lot of energy. I think I think also on Saturday was really playing For his final place as well. I mean, he was definitely playing for it and you know and and so you should be You know and as Kev said it's gonna be if Wilf is I do agree with Kevin if Wilf is fit Wilf will play over Yeah, I think it's a life of life. Yeah, I think the other thing is always I'm sure that that gale would argue that he should be in instead of Wicom Because I don't for all the talk of four for two so much of the ball that gale got wasn't from Wicom I can't recall one instance of Wicom winning a flick for Gail to run on so certainly there are times of Wicom And he's back to gold he was playing with playing gale in but for the most part It was punching and kabai who were looking to play Gail in so but you don't think there's any option is that I think there's any option that party will start with a Four four two, but you wouldn't want gale up top on his own. Would you were part for three? I think I think what I think you put if you played me play him as a striker. That's that's I think he needs Doesn't work in the way. No, I agree second off There's a really good analysis of his goal on match day. I think on Sunday night Sadly night when they showed how close he was to to the Lassie and then pulled off But if he'd been he wouldn't have come in from the wing. No, exactly. So he wouldn't have been in the box to score that goal It's sort of a defender doesn't he needs to be But I think in the middle not on the yeah, I totally agree on them in the middle But I think I know you're I think I agree with you about Wicom here and Wicom There wasn't wasn't quite that connection. Maybe we would have thought there We hope there be big man little man We'll kind of see that might work, but I do think that even just the presence of Wicom up front probably Unsettles defenders a bit or takes drags me away a bit and gives gales some space I think he needs a foil up top if that makes sense even if they're not directly Yeah, but it's looking there, but it probably five doesn't go into four. So it comes back to the argument We had to start the zone bless you fit. Hmm. Gail's not starting for stocks. He's not no He's not gonna start he's not dropping punching. No, no, I wouldn't I wouldn't I wouldn't I if get a To answer your own question gale won't be starting to win. But a good podcast. I just brings it back Okay, well, okay last question on gale then. Would you keep me this summer? Oh, yeah Yeah, cuz I think I Think it's really interesting that Pardee's been honest enough to admit that gale's been knocking on the door and that He was very close to go in the risk of city and I think Pardee was kind of hinting that it was parish You wanted gale to stay and that Pardee would have been all right of him going Um, yeah, I've absolutely I mean if we want to be a better team next season gale's a sort of player You want in your squad because he can score at Premier League level If you want to be a better team next season gale's not the sort of player you want to be starting every week I totally agree. Can it's we've talked about It being a squad game so many times with his pot and gale is somebody you want to need in your squad That but do we need we do we need another striker or different options because if gale's we need to go not a starter But he's still your top goalscorer than something. He's not right. Well, the pardee said and again I the only I saw he definitely said it. I know he said it I can't remember exactly where he said it but somebody else confirmed pardee said afterwards That next season they had four targets already And they were the four players they were going for it and they were four really good players And one of them's got to be a striker and I know every every team in the Premier League saying that from man You know it downwards basically one of them's got to be a striker, but we need somebody We need somebody who's going to be scoring over 15 goals. Yeah, I mean, you know, I mean that it's fact Yeah, and then That striker will then hopefully mean that wickerman gale Or score more goals because we'll get the sort of striker that you can play in three or four different systems Totally. Do we have anyone in the court at the moment that can score 15 goals? No Not at the moment. I don't think that's it. I mean, that's a difficult question because you you would imagine that not a lot of less defense I mean, certainly harry could two seasons go how he could top them fans wouldn't have said Cain could score that many goals or nester fans wouldn't have said it about pardee but I think it's it's possible with a bit of conference but another year's experience. You don't know but I my instinct is that No, he's my i'm trying to think of a nice way of saying but my instinct is now. I do think there are more goals to come from From and if he was sort of extrapolate game was record up with goals to games Yeah, he would argue that if he started every game he'd score more goals, but He hasn't always I think there's a lot of players in this quarter There's more to come from punch if he's scoring more goals, but lassie you should probably be scoring some more goals Quicker. She'll be scoring by wickham All who should be It's a hard one but the thing is with blassie The age thing with blassie wears me a little bit because I hold is it 27 27 which is not old of course no, but I I just think blassie's Out of all the players we've got and I don't want to lose blassie because I love him But he'd be the one I'd least worry about if we could get a lot of money for him Right because I don't think blassie's gonna be better than he is now Very very good now, but I think so I think it's a hard still got improvement to come so i was gay also as wickham They've all got a lot to learn. I think blassie So a brilliant palace career and I hope he continues to do so, but I think We know what you can do now and if we don't we can do them. Yeah, the opposition And I I think what's interesting about the goal of the first goal on Saturday Is that had that been a game that stoked me the points from I don't think he would have got that far Possibly. Yeah, I think he would have been taken out as he nearly was twice There's two of those lunges that were pretty poor, but I think if it hadn't point to go would that be the penalty? Yeah, the ref said afterwards he played advantage. So he was gonna give a penalty, so Okay, um I want to wrap up them part one then with what we wrap up. I just want to say one for not. Yeah, I've got more to talk about But I might forget you might forget we won't might forget What I wanted to say to I took my mate on Saturday He's a very good mate and he also runs a local off license, which is how it became a good man First night we moved in here two and a half years ago. I went down there. We've been mates ever since Okay, you have seen most of you. Yeah, I see him a lot. Yeah. Yeah two or three times a funny enough He's up if he doesn't see me. He wonders where I am. It's really nice. I don't need social services. He'll come knocking on the door I said get away. He's singing enough But he he came to this country when he was 16 He was sent away from war in his own country and he loves he loves England full stop He thinks the people of England and most generous people were It's a massive main I've had on Saturday. I would never be more proud of my club than I was on Saturday because we all think that we say every full fan of things. They sport the best club in the world. I'm not the best fans Sometimes it's only when you see it through a stranger's eyes that you realize what Good what a good club we are as well because it's all those days. I had to take I had to take him with me all over the place So he's in the paulson's arms Which he loved He was on the pitch. He was in the boardroom. He was all over the ground everywhere when And he wasn't always with me but everyone was just really friendly to him and I made sure I introduced him as a man You know I had fans I wanted him to know that people wouldn't it wouldn't bother him and he was just so Overwhelmed at the end of the game with everybody's Everybody's kindness and it's something when you see it through his eyes you think yeah fans are brilliant and also the other thing is why he just He grew up watching Premier League football in Eritreas at a classic almost a cliche Just like one telly at the tiny bar and he gets emotional about being Premier League football ground anyway But for him to be on the pitch and just he loved the pub out he loved everything and also the atmosphere because it sat in his atmosphere It wasn't brilliant I was feeling sad and he was just caught up in it So I just want to say thank you to all the palace friends involved. Is it easy a palace fan? It's it will always be a man you know I think and rightly so but he's like he's got a soft spot Massive soft spot for palace now. Yeah, they haven't said what's better. Wasn't it was it was it purely being in the effect up final or I think it's got a lot to do with it. James. I I wondered if it's in the suit, but I think it was I think it was I think it was that it was a nice day Sunny day. It's a funny day. It was the last home game. That's why he's a You know if I'd be on sale JD in the pub not selling them. Yeah, all those sort of things Stoked fans make a bit of noise as well. Yeah, yeah, that sort of feel good at any season factor Yeah, and it was made even more feel good by the party at the end with his yeah comments about Being a difficult your life is going Zara's right near the picture at the time. It's just wonderful the three second delay As I thought for a moment, I just got away with that and then suddenly 24,000 people Those bloke those millionaires lying in the sun there Okay, I didn't want an ass to get part of him but what I didn't want to ask about Berkeley quickly was James McArthur Who started and I thought I don't I thought to be honest was I'm out of the match You really push girl from out of the match would you guys start? I mean we said before you think he won't start on a cup final, but would you guys start him because he dreams so much, isn't it? I I'd all met well during the game because I I watched from the first time this season I've watched since very early on this season. I've watched from the Stanley Stevenson so quite low down and you really get a sense of how much What a shift he puts in and not just he just wins it and then gives it and it's again It's because so we talk you see in Vula It's much more noticeable because he's like cantile. He's just it's just up and down Between that between the boxes constant movement constant energy, and but with McArthur, it's just He covers more ground because he's all over but his tackling was obviously fully fit It looks a lot fitted. Yeah, and he looks like he's lost a bit of weight and he does He looks amazing. I really had to really quite hair. It's good. Yeah, the funniest thing in the pub after is I Kayla and I Really had to read maybe against I think it comes down to whether I still would do obviously Jedi started for like they started for them Yeah, but I think McArthur would be He'd be hard to drop. I think I'm very hard very hard on that performance, but I think you know Wembley Wembley especially for ladies. Hey, you need some need some bite. Yeah, I mean He has it and he's got I think he's got he's always got a little extra that Jedi hasn't got. Yeah, it's a tough one But it's I think he played for Wigan in the Cup final, didn't he? I think so. So which I think it's I mean so that again that experience Having somebody in the dressing room is one of the cup. I mean all that having said that they've all won the semifinal But yeah, I think I think what's brilliant is that we're going into the final. Hopefully fingers crossed Notwithstanding what happens to Southampton. I think We spent most of the season not having any choices And we might be going it's the most important game of the season for the first time we pied you having Decisions for the school decisions to make and every the decisions you want which will then mean of course that the substitutes are that much stronger because You're gonna cut funny. You've got McArthur and gale to come off the bench. I mean Yeah, I think the other thing as well is he's probably McArthur. I don't know. I think McArthur coming off the bench would be more effective than Then Jedi. Oh with that. Oh, yeah. Yeah, but also the other from as well as lead leads You know cibides not wasn't then we went through three major players on oh, yeah I'm sat there any up there on cabai fine. Our friends. Oh, they're further. God. They just make it, don't they? If you wasn't for them, where would we be? Yeah, which is true right now. But there's the rest of the ground. I'm sorry, we're far too busy working hard. Right, anyway, I mean the cheek I was thinking that the last night after coming off stage 20 minutes work a week. They really don't know how It's been hard work those records. It used to spin. I know those records that I play. Yeah, four or five gigs night. You go to for nothing That's hard work, isn't it? Three hard work. A podcast. One week for a hard day with personal trainer. That's hard work once a week. Right, it's been a hard work Six players have been nominated for Palace Player of the Year. I mean that is a 10. You know, it's hard to find six, is that what you're saying? No, I mean players that are working hard. To be honest, it was I admit that was that was a loose one. Do you want to know what the nominees are? Yes, please. Yeah, go on. Yeah, Scott Dan. Ooh, as I'm hosting it might be useful. Scott Dan, Wilf is a hoe. Yeah, no surprise of those kind of, kind of wick 'em. Yannick Balassie, your hanker boy, James MacArthur, who's played by a nanosecond or three. Wilf is a big chance of the season. There's been a few. Yeah, the only ones that really played all season. There's Wilf and Scott Dan, I think. Who do you guys? I'd be amazed if the winner didn't come from Scott Dan and Wilf's a hoe. Right. Let's be perfectly honest. Well, you've got your dependable defender there and you've got your exciting striker. Yeah, and I think, as well, I think, winger, the same thing in the mind book, right? I think the player of the year should be somebody who's played most of the season and been lucky enough to, you know, and it's not through any thought of their only others that missed a big chunk of the season. I mean, we jokingly said that Yannick Balassie was proving how good he was each week. He missed, but I'm sure that Yannick's done enough. I tell you what, I am surprised about it. I'm surprised about that we're not here, especially after the first couple of months of the season saying it was going to be Kebai winning it without a doubt, because I think we all thought he would after his initial burst of, I think, you know, his initial few games and we're also very excited he was here, and he played really well and then he's, you know, he has been, it's not been himself, I think. Well, I think some of us before, before even the ball was kicked, that we'd just assume Kebai was going to be playing with the year. No, it's interesting, we've talked about all sorts of reasons and excuses he may have for that, because we wondered whether France had told he wasn't going to the Euros or stock or just whether he hasn't looked, he just hasn't looked as fit as he looked at the start of the season, to be perfectly honest. Funny you guys mentioned Kebai, because we've had a lot of questions this week about Kebai, actually, and one of them is from... Is he going to say Kebai? Well, that's, actually, that's none of those questions related to that, but one of them from CPSC therapy, that's what I'm saying. I don't think it's a certain account we need to follow. Says, "Are we a better team without Kebai in it?" He did go off at half time, didn't he? You didn't go off at half time? I think judging it on the end of the season game against Stowe, it isn't the way to do it. Potentially, we've always got to be a better team with Kebai in it, surely, you're the person, even if it's not always the best. I think if he's not on the boil, he can bring the team down a little bit. Not bring them down, but you can't elevate them. Yes, I agree. I mean, so maybe the discussion we had about MacArthur in the first half, maybe McArthur in general, because McArthur and Kebai aren't quite similar players, in a way, arguably McArthur and maybe not quite as good a passer as Kebai, but he's certainly more proactive and more dynamic, and Kebai's not been as quite as good as you thought he might be this season. No, I think that's... We've had this discussion before. He hasn't been as good as I thought he would be, because he hasn't played where I thought he would be, and apparently I'm one of those naive people who I've been told several times that I'm naive for expecting him to play further forward and not realising that we've bought a very good screen for the back four, which he was fantastic. So, no, I don't think he has been, personally, not as good as we thought he would be, he's been used differently, so I think that'd be unfair to judge... Can I do any street and throw you some stats? Because there are stats to back exactly that up, which is, and these have been tweeted by Samuel Jordan, who does the Twitter account, I'll tell you something, that he is at the club, he is top for number of interceptions, number of tackles, number of passes, also number of chances, and then sorry, second for number of chances created 50 and number of touches, so he's topping a lot of the rankings for not just defensive stuff, but also attacking as well. But we all know football's not about stats. But they play a part, they play a part. Not as big as people like you like, like just the past. I mean, the intersection and tackle was one was quite big news at the start of the season, we need to seem to have a lot more energy there, but the passing one's interesting because I'm not saying I'm surprised that he's the top passer, but his passes aren't visibly... What we haven't had through, I think we thought we might get even from deep is those killer through balls, the killer over the top pass, even the sort of 10, 12-yard pass through to punch and running on. He's been effective and efficient rather than game-changing, I think. He's very good at passing the ball, he'll pass it within the little areas, he'll pass it too, so he'll get it back, pass it there, pass it back, he'll be there, pass it around shortly, he'll pass it, I think what Kemp's saying, and I totally agree with him, we're missing that where it's complete splits defence open, where he goes over the top pass. Maybe we shouldn't have been expecting that. He's got that in his game, but I think where he is good, James is right. If there's a period of chaos in the game, he's one of the few players we've got who is happy with the ball, he will go and get the ball, he'll settle everything down, and he'll make sure we keep the ball from... But the odd thing about that is that I thought that we started to be less effective in the first half when we tried to play a bit of possession football, it's just not really us, and in the second half when we started to get the ball forward much more quickly, and things were happening, and it wasn't long ago, but things were happening three or four touches, you know, it's part of the really nice pass after Swari Cross comes in, that little move between Gail and Punch, like three or four sharp passes, when we slow it down, when we try and it just gives, we haven't got that pace up front, even with Gail there, it gives the other teams back four, back five, too much time to set themselves, we need to do things quicker and sometimes goodbye, I think, and I'm not saying in the future I wouldn't like to see it as being a brilliant possession football team, it would be a change, but at the moment, I think goodbye sometimes there's slow things down a little bit, it's interesting to look for the side pass or the back pass rather than the forward pass, but again, you don't know what is instructed to... I mean, I'm a little... I don't think he's going to be proud of the season anyway... No, yeah, to be honest, I don't think he'd be particularly shocked if he wasn't nominated to be perfectly honest, I imagine the management of the club had delighted, he has been, and I don't think there's any indication that he's going anywhere either, to be perfectly honest, because from what I can gather, he's happy, and he's certainly a player that he would want in your first team next season with better players around him, because, I mean, arguably, I think the squad that he played in Newcastle in the season that he was really good was probably a better squad than ours, with four better players, and I think if he's got proven, primarily, quality around him, I think we'll see a different, a different goodbye, and for what I can gather, it was his decision, he wanted to play deeper than we expected him to play. So, you guys wouldn't vote for goodbye forever, have you? No, I would... But as I say, if you'd have asked me in September, October, I would have said yes, but my choice would be down as a hardwood, and I'd probably lean towards OK, Dan, I think. I was going to try and go through the players and ask you questions related to them from Twitter, but you've just said Dan now, so I... Well, no, it's all my opinion, but... Oh, you know, I mean, I could be honest, I... I think if it's a public vote, you know, you're more likely to go towards the heart, because he's got the element of surprise, and he's excited, and he's what you want, when you pay your money to go and see football, yes, you want your team to win, but you want to see something exciting. It is a public vote. And it's a public vote. So, you know, I... Yes, I think Dan has been possibly had a most consistent player on season, one or two of us in Downs, but who we're all the team out of this season. I think he's an amazing... I don't think he's been given the recognition maybe that he should have done, outside of Crystal Palace, whereas... Yeah, within that at all. So, I guess if he does get the nod, that I think that's really good for him. I know if he'll make people realise outside of the game, that outside of Crystal Palace, within the game, that he's as good as he is, but Will is probably getting, because we're like, we make something in our lives. Well, it's because Will, it's more noticeable, isn't it? What Will does? He does get you off your seat, and he's had some really good games recently as well, certainly in the cup run, so. But he's also a player's player of the year this year. It'll be interesting to see who the player's vote for, because I would possibly suspect that a defender's more likely to win that. I'd probably say some like Delaney will probably win that. Yeah, maybe that don't be... Because I... And you get the impression, he gets the boys going, don't he? Yeah. So, who goes... You said who you think will win? So, who would you guys vote for? Who else on the line? I would vote for Scott, don't you? I don't think Wickham will get there, because he hasn't... Wickham, Yannick, and McArthur, I think. Yannick. Same as Will. Yeah, he was... I think Yannick's done what he's done every season, basically. I think Wickham, there was that little... If perhaps Wickham had stayed fit when he scored the goals at Sunderland, and West Brom and scored six or seven more, then he would probably walk away with it. And it made me that the semi-final goal factor will kick in, but I would probably vote for Scott down, I would say. Okay. But I'd... I'd vote for Will. I'd probably vote for Will, I think, Willford, wouldn't it? Yeah. I would vote for Will, but probably Scott, don't win it. So, can we just find a real large fence for me and give this to someone, please? What I'd really like to see happen, just to annoy Andy Street, if we could photo-shop a picture of Wayne Hennessy holding me, playing with the entire... Yeah. I think that can be done. Yes. I think that can definitely be done. Yes. I personally... What an idea. Yeah. Or, just to please Andy Street, we have a savoury year competition, and Julian wins it. He's won Game and Man, yeah. I think I'd go for Will for as well. I think it'd be close. I think it's a lovely, close team. Well, I think you've got an indication of the way the fans might vote, because the fanatics gave Will for the year on... Yeah. And there's been a lot of... I've seen a lot of people on Twitter. I think when you vote, I haven't actually voted yet, but I think when you vote, you can then put on Twitter who you voted for. Yeah. And I've seen a lot of people saying, "I'm voting for Will for as half of a year." Oh, okay. Well, it's not a scientific way of doing it. Well, especially could you do follow Will for his family, don't you? So maybe... Yeah. He would be a deserving winner. Look at them. You'll be a deserving winner. Absolutely. Sometimes they do get more attention than... Okay, we had a question about Yannick, which I was trying to squeeze in there, but I forgot. From Danny Sproul, I don't think... He says, "There's rumours of a Leicester swoop for Balassie. What price would you sell him for?" I've not heard that. There's going to be room... Leicester are going to be linked with every club, every player in the world, basically, ever. And it's really interesting. I was talking to a Celtic player last week who just said he'd be really interested to see how good someone has to play as our other teams, because these theories, they won't be. Yannick, he would be ideal for that. I mean, he would fit right into the work ethic, straight ahead, put your head down, get forward time. Tottenham is the one that's always linked with Yannick. I don't seem to know, though. It doesn't seem to me that there's the same buzz about Yannick as it was this time last season. I think this time last season, we were talking about getting 20-25 million for him. I think if we could get 15 million, Yannick... Do you think a difference will be if... Depends who we buy, obviously, as well. When we win the World Cup, or even the FA Cup, or when we win the FA Cup, I'm going to be in Europe. I think that might let people... He might decide to stay, if all you have to answer. It's the fact that the European football had had to bring it up at this point. The thing is, what you'd not want to happen is you wouldn't blame any player for going to Leicester. Romantic little Leicester owned by the billionaires, which people seem to forget. I'm really pleased that if I got a nice few crowbar, I was determined that somebody acknowledged the fact that it's such a romantic story and something to think it wouldn't have happened if the previous managerial left, because his son was sacked for filming himself in two prostitutes in a... It's like £4 million. It's such a romantic story. But you couldn't blame any player for going to Leicester at the moment. What I wouldn't want to see is how good players are leaving for clubs in a similar situation, going to Newcastle with their stay up or Sunday with their stay up. Because the fact is that we... Not only must we be able to compete for other players, we've got to be able to compete to keep our own players. And if we can't go back to the days when, for one of the next to five grand a week, we lose someone like Bellassie or Will for punching or whatever. That's what happened after the last decade. Yeah, we had that season with third in the league and then all those great players just left. Because we need... I'd be perfectly happy if Bellassie and his heart started next year, despite what I said earlier on about Bellassie, maybe being at his bestie. But his bestie is more than good enough for the Premier League. What you want is to keep those... Keep goodbye, keep punching, keep Bellassie, keeps the heart, keep down, one or two others and get better players in the round of them. So I'd be disappointed if Bellassie did go. I'd probably be disappointed if he went to Leicester, to be perfectly honest, in a strange sort of... I mean, Champions League football is... I think there's going to be a lot of money on Leicester going down next season. Yeah, because people will do it. Yes, I've got many... I've got a lot of friends who have already put money on Leicester going down. If anyone can explain to me how four people having a five or on Leicester at 5,000, one who's bankrupted the book is... It's just astonishing. The amount of publicity they've got, any other rates, if the 5,000 won outside of one of the Grand National, they'd be having sex in public. And now there's apparently words led to believe that all those millions of people who put money on magnified and live a poor man. Yeah, it's millions of people. But how the Leicester thing plays out is going to be... That's going to be a brandy areas toughest job, I think. Yeah, I agree. But I would think Leicester fans would be expecting better players in Bellassie to come in. Yeah, I think you're right, I think you're right. OK. No, that is not a good player. No, I think you're winning the Premier League Champions League. You're going to be kind of friends. Yeah, but where in the World Cup's World Cup have we won with World Cup and the Community Shield? Yeah. Right, next question is from Tony Dobson. Hi, Tony. Hi, Tony. Are you all going to wear suits to the Cup final? No, no. Good, no, OK. I might wear something, I might wear something, can't you? I might wear a big birthday suit there. I'm only exactly the same outfit I'll wear to the semis. As far as you've got, that's your outfit. I can't remember what I will, but I'm... Yeah, I'm just going to be wearing a smile. I might go situation appropriate. Really? With something... What, shin pads and shorts? Yeah, in case I get called in. Yeah, you never know. Yeah, less romantic things have happened. I'm not wearing a suit, no. And I'm not going off at half-time to any awards ceremony, either. Oh, yeah. Oh. Do you not think maybe you have to, to kind of keep us in contact? Yeah, just to keep the finger, yeah, yeah. You're a man of superstition. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. In that case, I'd better start drinking at the... The weather's closing in Victoria at nine o'clock again. That's not happening this year. No. Okay, Mark Carlton... Hi, Mark. Says, "When or lose the cup final, do you think we should stick with parts?" If we lose the cup final, yes, is the answer to that. Yeah, I think so. I can't believe it. I mean, obviously, it's joking with the question. Yeah, I don't know. The only consolation that we'll have from losing the cup final is that I can see the press and the publicity. No, everyone's going to save for the first time ever. No one's left. That we'll still be. That's what I'm really hoping that if we lose, 25,000 Palace fans will drown out the sound of, you know, a lift in the FA Cup. Oh, yeah. Whereas if it's the other way around, their end will be empty within a minute. Part of you, it's... Whether we would stick with part of the material, we signed his contract now. He was waiting for the... But we all know what contract means to me, he's nothing. Well, I would have passed it. I go to the other day, there's a Twitter account called Pard You Out. Yeah. Have you seen that? I don't know. If it's real, I don't know. There are people who sit around me at the match, and they'll know who they are and who moan about Pard You on a weekly basis, saying he's tactically inept, and it doesn't know what he's doing. And they've been doing this all season. They just don't. People just do not like the guy. Yeah. They don't like him. They just don't like him. And it's, you know, it doesn't matter whether we're going to lose, they'll still want him out. It's like a reverse Steve Kemble where, no matter how bad Kemble was, people still didn't want him to that, because he's such a nice bloke. I think James has hit on a good point, and there is... Because he can come across as Bruce, because he can come across as arrogant and alpha male, and I think there are a certain group of fans who don't like that. But you can only... I don't give a toss out what sort of personality in my manners is not, to be perfectly honest. And we're not losing the FA Cup Final. He's got us to the FA Cup Final against Premier League opposition. Except in one game. You can only judge by the league table at the end of the season. And the fact is that at the start of the season, for all that we would go, anything above 10th would be great. 12th would be brilliant. 14th would be brilliant. We could still finish 12th. We could still finish 12th. 12th is the FA Cup Final. And yes, it's not bad, is it? It's pretty good, in my book. I really could understand, you know, 10-12 matches into the bad run. Of course, I think you can understand. Absolutely. Because there's not another club in the land, who wouldn't start saying, "Hang on, why is the manager still so?" Of course, I can understand that. But now, no, the answer's got to be no, because he's a Proven Premier League manager. Give him the chance to bring some players. And let's see what you can do with better players and a better squad. And with the money that we've got coming in. So I think what we need to do is put that... We kind of... I always need to get out of the system, because it's not going to happen. The conversation with Travis earlier today, who's been on the public. The famous one, for the first. The one everyone likes. Yeah, the one everyone likes. The one who talks, sends and knows about football. It's your total life ahead of me. I hate him for that. He's a teenager still. How shocking is that? Anyway, he was saying to me this morning, we're talking about this Pard You Out Twitter thing, and people moaning about it. And he said to me, "Dad, if we lose the FA Cup Final and we haven't won a game by Christmas, then they can start moaning." Even if we lose the FA Cup, we're in the final. And I know people are going to call me a hypocrite now. I understand that. This is the same year in which I refer to it as a Mickey Mouse tournament. I'm aware of that. People are aware of my views on the BBC and the FA Cup. But we're in the final of the greatest, most prestigious Cup tournament in the world. Mickey said that. Yeah. We're playing. Oh, is it Minnie? I don't remember. I know it's a lot more about football than she's... She doesn't know the outside role than she. Oh, come on. I was joking. I was joking Minnie Mouse. She's the Jackie Oatley of the Carter World. Jackie Oatley knows more about football than anybody. Just to even up. Yeah, thank you. Mr Seven, his comments there. Okay, let's move on. No, wait, great Cup competition. Yeah. Playing, whatever you think of that man, you know, we're playing one of the biggest names in world football. If not the biggest. If not the biggest. If we lose that, one nil. How would you... What would cause you to then want the manager to be sad? I'm saying the lead. Yeah, I mean, you know, if God forbid, I don't think it's going to happen, if we froze like the villain did a little bit and then we lose four nil, he'd be disappointed. But you still wouldn't. He still said we got to the Cup final. We've got all this publicity from all over the world. You know, it's not... It's in the nature of all football. Every club's got fans that want a bit more. It comes from the right place. It comes from wanting success. Yeah. And it comes a little bit from Pardu, not particularly playing the media game very well. And it comes with experience and knowledge of the game as well. Yeah. And also, you know, Steve Koppel wouldn't have said on the pitch that players, it's a really hard life. Yeah, it's stunning. It's because he doesn't always play the fan game Pardu. So I don't understand why, but... We also have to fill up an hour and a half of a pot as well. Yeah. So let's, in fact, take all this, edit this last bit. No, it's good. No. No. So, um, I've been asking this a lot a few weeks, and now that Pardu's actually confirmed safe, obviously, mathematically safe from only cases. Yeah, it's even I agree with that. Yeah, okay. Yeah. Do you want to just say the words? Do you want to say? Yeah, we are safe. Yeah. Even at half time, people around me, you know, look, look, some of them are losing. It's nearly all new culture. Look, new culture's easy to get five and so forth. If we ship four more in this one, then we lose three units out. So... But we are safe. And I was more, I was as delighted as anybody, when the final whistle went over. Yeah. Although, it's one of those rare games when I just knew in my heart that two ones not happily for me normally. I thought we would score more on win, but when the final whistle went, I was... I think it was shared by fans as well. I think there was a sense of relief. I think so, yeah, yeah. Well, there's always... Any panelist fans can have a back of their mind that it's mathematical. It always happened. We've been there before. We've all been there. We know. We won't just say the name of that team, but it's happened and we will talk about it. But Palace now 14th could finish 12th with a win against Southampton and got to Cup final. Does that mean this season is now a success? No, because you can't. We talked... Didn't we, in January, February, say, "Oh, yeah, maybe when the sun's out, we'll look back on these dark days and laugh." And there is an element of it being comical. Let's face it. I'm trying to find a way of saying it, the player of the year, do the thing that made me proudest to be the Palace fan issue, is that our goalkeeper not picked himself up. That's the villain. I'm trying to find a way of catching that. I'm trying to find a way of ignoring any street. I said, "Well, you've made a lot of good saves, but, yeah." But... Do you think it would... No, again, I'm searching. Because I understand why people would say, "Yes, that is a success." And of course, if we won the FA Cup, it's the best season we've ever had ever. But I do think there's so much more we can do. Yeah. That's the thing. What I think about it is that, yes, I always thought... I loved about Palace for the last sort of 30 odd years. It's like, "Well, they're trying to go up, or we don't want to go down." We've been up and down, up and down. So that's two or three years. We've got this thing now. We're almost mid-table. We're one of these mid-table premises teams. I always thought, "How boring that must be." "How boring that must be to be home." "I don't know, Wes Bromor at work." Yeah, it's not boring. But you know what? It's not boring. Because what you want to do, you just want to get better. And we can see it week after week after week and talk for two hours about the minute of our team. We're never going to win the league. Well, hopefully we're not going to go down. We may do. And that's what keeps us going. I think that's what keeps us going. I think that's what it is. And it's just, you can always do better. No season will ever be a total success. You can always do better the next season. Very, very... Very, very long term. The fact is, apart from Manchester City, Chelsea Arsenal, Liverpool, maybe 14 teams in the Premier League will be in the championship again in 20 years, 10, 20. We know that. And what you have to do is enjoy it while you can enjoy it. My worry is that if we were to finish 12th, you wouldn't want any level of complacency setting. You wouldn't want people to go, "Well, actually, even the Americans going, "Well, actually, yeah, that's not bad. Actually, 12th, 5th we could do. We could be 8th maybe." Because at the moment, wherever we finish, I think we're going to be... We'll be third or four favourites to go down next year. Because of that, since you're back running. And you wouldn't blame the book, it's for doing that. And I would rather be in that situation as a Palace fan, because I think we react better. Always react better. I know it sounds a strange negative psychology thing, but I would rather see it at the end of the table. I don't want us to see, you know, you know, 14 to 1, 100 to win the title, because it's not impossible. And people go, "Well, it won't go down." I would rather us start next season by saying, "Well, we've got to finish above the three teams that came up and then see what happens." And I say that in the full expectation that things will happen next season. But I think what we shouldn't overlook in all the arguments about Pardu and about the bad run and about the FA Cup is that we're about to start our fourth consecutive season. When we thought it was a miracle that we got two, to actually have four, it's fantastic. Especially for those of us who are older, who never dreamt that would happen. No, never. Who suffered not humiliation, but embarrassment every time I've been in the Premier League before. And every time I've been in the Premier League before, we never really make it a fist of it. We could have done with miraculous last day sets of results and they never happen. But these are brilliant times for us older fans. And in a way, as a mate of mine, he's worried about his 70-year-old kid, because he's all he knows is a Premier League and Wembley. It's character building, but we shouldn't forget that even if it's not been a successful season, the fact that we are still a club on the earth. The curve is still upwards, with all the new Premier League money, with the Americans money, and with the facts, you only have to look at our owners compared to Villa, compared to Newcastle, compared to Sunderland. Yeah. Whatever happens to Sunderland, they've got to make massive changes, because Sunderland will go there. Sunderland don't make huge changes to their infrastructure and their playing staff. They'll go down there. They'll be in the same situation next season. And we have to make sure that we're not. We're not, basically. Yeah. Well, I've come back to what James is saying, though, fourth season in the Premier League. That is, I totally agree, you want to aim to better each season, but a fourth season, it's very nature, is doing better, surely. Of course, it's absolutely, absolutely. Of course, but I think, I think... See, yes, it has been a success. Yeah. But it's not the success where I'm going to be, and then the season's going, "Yes!" Yeah, yeah, yeah. 2015, 2016, what a season. Success! Will if he win the car. Well, yes, he will be, yeah. [LAUGHTER] Conversely, you probably wouldn't be saying that if we finished ninth, if we'd finished one place above last season, you probably wouldn't be going, "Yes, what a season." Yeah. You know, I don't know what it would take in future for us to go. I don't know. Yes, what I'd maybe... But what I'd be really asked if you'd go, "Right, okay, well, let's get into Europe." Yeah. What, so you thought about this progress? Yeah. Yeah. And you see, you feel... But other things have to improve as well. The home, and the part of you, I'm pleased the part of you mentioned it, but the home floor's got to change. Yeah. The home floor's got to change. That's that third season in a row, isn't it? But it is. I don't want people to think that we'd be negative, because I'm sorry not being negative. I know that you two are. It's a positive thing. Yeah. It's just putting a certain... Just being a bit... Yeah, being a bit... A realist, being ambitious. Let's face it. No. You know, most teams... Man City fans would rather be where we are. Arsenal fans would want to be at Wembley. And the fact is, as well, it's so much better for us. I was really disappointed. When did it happen to Man City fans? There's suddenly not getting in the Champions League. I've got some mates who really have Man City fans since the 70s, 60s, and they are just appalled by the way some of their fans are behaving. Yeah, it was empty. One pellet greening went out. The man who won the title... Three trophies in three years. Three trophies in three years. There's about a thousand of them left for his... Thank you. And it's just... And I love Man City fans. Let's point out that's not the All-Man City fans. No, no, it's not. I love Man City fans. I love Man City fans. You know, we know in Main Road, what place Main Road used to be to go and play football? And it's the same with a lot of Arsenal fans. It's just... When did that happen? It wasn't enough. They've got Pep Guardiola coming to manage their team this year. He's going to bring some of the best players in the world. And they're still not out of it. They could still get in the Champions League. But they've disappeared. But it's like, I was astonished and that's... And again, it's like... If Man United wouldn't win the FA Cup, it won't win anywhere near as much to the fans as it will be in 12th. It simply won't. And that's why just rejoicing the fact that we support Palace. And rejoicing the fact that our season isn't finished yet. Not because we're in the playoffs. Yeah. Because we're in the FA Cup final. It's fantastic. We've got whatever happens between now and Wembley. We've just got to go... Oh, it's not a nuisance going, Wembley. It's the best thing that could possibly happen. It's fantastic. We've been to Wembley three times in three years. It's still an honor to go back for the Community Shield. I never want to get filled up with it. But we just have to go... I don't think Palace fans are going to fans. They will always make it an occasion. We have to appreciate it. I think what I'm saying is we have to remember that now that we said that. And we have to remind Palace fans that we're like that. And I don't think these days will come often enough for us to get complacent. But I think Man City fans will have said that five, six years ago. I really feel sorry for the real Man City fans. A lot of them. I know they've just got the head of their hands. Our club is turned into what it shouldn't be. They were always a team that was never up to that team. They were always seeing that quite a connect from Palace at times. They waited early 90s. Before they got finally 90s, the last home game was against them. And there's always that thing with... I've got a lot of mates with City fans. There was always that connection because when clubs chose the wrong team in the city, for years, we could have chosen to ask them too. We didn't make the chosen man. Manager? Manager? No, I'll come out and see them come out. Okay, Steve, couple for... Final question then is... I'll tell you about the playoffs. No, it's about come on. That's one thing I had to explain to my mate Ash on Saturday because there were a couple of TV's on the pub. He was happy as Larry wandering around watching it. I had to explain why the whole place went absolutely crackers at the end of the middle of the brain. It's a draw, what's going on there? Right, sit down. Just sit down here for a minute. It's from... you'll make Chris Chapman? Oh, Cheer up, Cheer up, Chris. He says, "Adamski was number one on the 12th of May 1990." Yes, he was. With? Well, no, I know this because I was with the crystals, the rehearsing, the special... ...crikey. So, no, what was it? My car was moldy. Oh. He begins okay? Killer. Killer. Killer. Correct. What up, Chris? Chris says... Chris, he's an ordinary romantic, normally. Oh, is this a Chris? I'm out. This is Chris. You met on the chair. Yeah, he's very funny, man. Very funny, man. Music connection. He says the world's leading expert on mid-year and ultra-lot. Major. Major. To be honest, that means nothing to me. If you've ever... Oh, it's something to me. You see what he did? Very good. Very good. You know why? You should be a comedian. Maybe not. Anybody? Yeah, that's what a lot of his audience said. If you've ever... Anybody listening is on pointless or anything that he's found a friend on ultra-vox. Oh, good. Chris would be... Good. I did not know that by Chris. He says, "Adamski obviously will not be in the charts this time. Obviously, is that a good omen for the heavy cap?" (Laughter) Great question. It doesn't even need an answer, Chris. Very good. Okay, good. Has there been any further news on our FA Cup song because it was definitely going to be one a week ago? No, it seems to be. I've not had anything. No? I've no idea. There was one... There was a Palace song released by Yannick's brother or Yannick's cousin. A rap theme song last week. I don't think it was official or anything. Maybe that's it. Who knows? Right. Moving on to part three, where we're going to do a quick in this week. There's more. Yeah, yeah. We're going to go back in time in this week in part three, which is after this break. (MUSIC) Yes, this is it, Steve. Hang on. Welcome back. (Laughter) Welcome back to this week's five-year-pan podcast. Three! Hey! Come on, buddy. We're still here. It's hard to tell when you've really started or not because the people at home won't have heard the... It will sound seamless to them because you've only heard the two bits you've had to cut. Yeah, and the little full starts, but that's radio. It's not radio. That's podcast. Similar. Classic Partridge. That's podcast. Oh, it was a bit, wasn't it? We are sponsored by vector printing. We print in whatever we need. Go to www.effector.co.uk. Yes, Victor. Okay. J.S.A.S., the global reset and brand consultancy. I will. From south London. With it, J.C., hyphen.is.com. I did already. Yeah, good. You should do that more often. That's good. It's in this week. Guys, there's so many big games. So many big games to Palace down the years in this week. Oh, it'd be in the last week of season. Yes, well, yeah. I know. I know. Big game in the end of the season. It's a shame. We should almost do, I don't know, separate pods and these. But obviously, 12th of May, 1990. I think I've got a final. We drew through. Yeah. Big game. Big game. Big deal. Move on. Next one. That was 12th of May. Okay. 12th of never May. Donnie Osmond. Donnie Osmond. 12th of never. Do you know what I'm talking about? No. Google it. I don't want to. Do you? Yeah. Nice fella. Yeah? Not much sense of humour about crazy, crazy horses. Crazy horses, popular, Romanism, popular. Oh, and there's also, there's something to do with these cystical paper roses. Paper roses? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like the sinister song they did together. Paper roses. Paper roses. No, they were only paper roses. That was it. Yeah, true. Oh, okay. This is good. This is good. I'm going to go back to 1970. Because he drifted off. Yeah. Exactly. We fell in the silence. And we tried to keep people listening. I'm going to go back to 1979. Oh. Oh. Which would you know? 1973. We'll keep it in the 70s. Yeah. They're bright in August. Oh. On the 10th of May. So it's Thursday 10th. Yeah, yeah. Optimistically reported. What? Can you remember? They're going up. Yeah. 'Cause we, I believe they were in an aeroplane when they found out, wasn't it? Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. Which we'd be, we'd be a memory man here. We'd be quite well on the Friday night. Yeah. Front of 52,000 people. Burnley. Burnley. Burnley. Burnley. Front of 52,000 people. Which meant that Brighton hadn't gone up. Well, hadn't gone up as champions. Well, that's the thing. Yeah. They went champions. It's in the August. It said champagne will be flowing at 30,000 feet above America tomorrow as the seagulls celebrate being South Division champions. It turned out that the pilot of the plane was a Palace fan and was only too happy to tell them the news. Really? Yeah, yeah. They announced it. It was obviously in those days, just before, you know, playing... Yeah. Yeah. I phoned you. Yeah. So, yeah. So, the pilot came over here to say they've got some news for the bright players and they're all getting ready to the show. Really? But Christopher Palace won two, no. Oh. Amazing. And he started singing. He was at Peter Wall. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. I wonder who that pilot was. Well done to that man. He was the manager who was out. I could manage it two years later. Correct. So, obviously, yeah. Friday, the next day, Friday the 11th, Palace won two and it all gets burned. 51,482 feet. That's the official thing. Yeah. I think it would be probably much more than that. Another, I mean, yeah. Okay. Another game where there was a capacity crowd, 28,000, was the 8th of May 1994. What was that game famous for? Well, I'm remembered for it, Palace. '94. Sunday the 8th of May '94. Oh, was that our first win? No. No. It would have been Premier League. When was the last game of season? We weren't Premier League. Oh. We played a Watford. Oh, it's the end of the house though. End of the house though. Oh, really? The last stand. Yeah. How was that? I was stood on it. Yeah, me too. Yeah. I got a photograph of top monster. I should remember that. Cool. Was it '94? '94, yeah. Right. Twenty-two years ago. Geez. In classic Palace tradition, you know what it's called? Yeah, we lost it. Two in a Watford, yeah. Yeah, of course. Classic. Classic Palace. But, yeah, 28,000 people on that one. What are the holds down? Yeah. I mean, it felt like it, didn't it? There was a lot of people on there. Well, you would have been much smaller than so it would have fippled. It would have been a lot bigger to you. I remember, I must have been about... How old was that? I was 20. I was 10. I remember being down the front, all the kids got pushed down the front and we all had balloons and all sorts of stuff. So, I remember all the kids because it was difficult to see if you were that small. I was a small kid at the time. I remember it was the only time I ever stood on the homestown terrace. I agree. It was only my second or third game, I think. I decided you didn't like standing. I was a few little or four in the room. I like standing. So, we bring back standing. Having been to a football game in Germany last week, I'm all for a safe standing. I know it's a sensitive issue, especially with the results of the hill's green quarry recently, but I think if it's properly managed, I think just from an economic and financial point of view, clubs should have much cheaper ways for people to get into football grounds and standing is one way to do it. I think most clubs would tell you they would welcome a standing area in terms of atmosphere. If Germany can prove it can be done, then what can be done? It can be done. I think it's for reasons that are entirely understandable. It will probably be a couple of years before the debate can be had fully here, and that's fair enough, but yes, I would be in favour of it. Okay, good. Well, I am in favour of us wrapping up part three and going into part four. It's the only reason you ask the question in whether you're in favour of us. No, no. So, you could say I'm in favour of us and shame on you. No, shame on you. Would I do that? You would do that. It's too posh to stand up for football. I like standing at football. I like standing at football. You're blocking somebody else's view, so don't. Do you remember what I asked? No, he's not because he's not that many people in his box. Oh, fair point. How dare you? How dare you? I've never been to that. Oh, I want 21 in the box today. Sellers. When they were terrible. Do you remember back in the day that you'd be basically... No. No, no, no. No, no, no. Anyway... A few times. That's great. Brilliant. Brilliant. Well, that's completely ruined in the outro of that part, but that's fine. I'm going to cut it off right. 180! Just because you don't want people to know about the FYP box. I mean, if imagine, if there was an FYP vote... Imagine. Just imagine. There isn't just a good phone. Right, that's going to part three. Ending now. Welcome back to this week's Five Year Plan podcast. Hey! Poda. 180. Wow. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Yep. You do it? Go on, boys. Get out of your system. Whoa. Whoa. Come on. 180. Whoa. I got like a late-night jazz version. We are sponsored by Vector Printing for your printing body we need. Go to vector.co.uk/vector-weather. Okay. Okay. And JCIS, the global research and brand consultancy from South London. Visit JC-IS.com. I will. You can do the whole with this part, like that. Yeah. Okay. So, then, turn away. Last game of the season. Well, last league game of the season. Yeah. Great. It was a microphone if you can actually. You're going to do it? Okay. Okay. Well, I might do it as well then. Fine. You always do it. So, we're doing the whole house. Yeah. We just want to be with you. We just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with me. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with you. Just want to be with me. Yeah, legal. Well, I got a question from... Do we know that? I've heard you said today. Do I get it? I'm going to start him against Southampton. If he scores two goals again, I've got a real problem. Well, fair enough. And that is a problem that he would have gone to. That's a problem that he would want. Yeah. I'm trying to get my voice out. But I've had a question from David Manley. Hi, David. Hi, David Manley. I could do late night radio. No, you couldn't. First time you've got to use word Manley without smiling. Very good. Manley can you say... Special comedian. Yeah, OK. Right, David. Maybe she's right for people, Kevin. No. Don't. She always goes wrong for you being a podcast guest. Everybody, if I've got these for you when I'm back to last night, they get invited to that one. Yeah. Yeah. What's all that about, isn't it? It's bang out of order. Right, it's don't normally. They invite one right. Okay, well, it should be you. No, Mr. Manley says, "Should we be using the Saints game to play the likes of Kekai by Tang's Peroni, or really try to ensure that we get 14th or even 12th?" That's a really interesting question, actually. I'll be very interested to see what the line is going to be. The line up is going to be. I suspect Zahar won't start. But I don't know. Your term is not even going to start. Well, I'm saying I'm worried about that, and I'm worried that's why gay has been talked about. I think there are a lot of managers, maybe more old school managers, who say you should, yeah, you can have an accident bending down into the fridge at home. You should play players, keep them match fit, keep them sharp. I suspect that won't happen. I think, as it's nothing on the game, I don't think- Apart from a few million quid. Well, let's be honest. You know, if you end up 12th round and 14th, it's probably worth about four or five. Yeah, but if we were playing Newcastle, for example, and both Newcastle has a win, then it's morally beholden on us to play in 14. Of course, yeah. I suspect Zahar won't use it as an opportunity to blurt some young players. I don't know. I think it's interesting that he said he's definitely playing gay at all, and considering we've spoken about nothing but gay at all, he's clearly happy to risk gay at all. I think the back five will start. I don't think there'd be any- No, I don't. Which, again, begs the question, if they're happy to start with the same back five. Why not the rest of the team? I mean, I guess it depends on if you were saying, you know, "Kaby, I'd be up a night, and they'd be double-oxed." Well, it might be. So, kind of guys might be. So, that's an actually sixth. So, they- It goes down to the seventh. So, it goes down to the seventh of it. It goes down to the seventh of it. Yeah, yeah. Whatever they call it these days. Europa League. West Ham are a point behind them in seventh, and they're two points ahead of Liverpool in eighth, so- So, that means they have something to play for? I guess they might. Yeah, no, they do. They do. You're guessing, they do. No, I mean, I guess they might then go for a stronger. Oh, yeah, so I'll let you finish your sentence. Well, yeah, so, but I think we should go out there and play them. No, but, you know, I should be resting a lot of players, and I don't think we will. We saw Abba the whole truffle when we did, and we're really lucky to get away with two, Neil. And that was at a time. I suppose you might, I suppose, if he's going to do it then, where we still need the points, he'd be happy to do it now, but I'd be really interested to see a lot of them. The other thing is, as well, if you're going to play Gail, and say, right, you've got to have a chance to impress me, then that's not fair if he's starting with Kai Kai and somebody else and not, you know, if you're not- Because Gail's got less chance to imagine to score if he's got two or three other friends' players around him. Yeah, that's true. I think only at City Kai Kai, no disrespect to either of those players. You're really going to be playing, you, Chungman. I don't think we're going to see him again, are we? He wasn't the pitcher half-time at the end of the game. It was the end of the game, it was the end of the game on Saturday. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, they played in a playing capacity, I think. It was what I thought he was on. No one was talking to him. Gail is one of those players that if we want to improve next season, it's a high list of people that- Yeah, yeah. Kai's got an injury shot because he has been recalled. They both did say last week. Oh, he might be involved. He had hinted. I think Boateng would have been called back as well. Plymouth not been in playoffs. Okay. Well, it can go. Yeah. So, I mean, he wouldn't be upset at seeing. It's all like how I could get a chance to see what they could do. He's earned it. He's certainly earned it. Oh, without a doubt, scoring, it doesn't necessarily prove to me that you're going to score goals because you scored goals for sure as me. But, I would find it, I think Gail would find it on as well. If he's suddenly put into the reserve team and said, "Is your chance to get your Wembley spot score to your goals?" Yeah, yeah. Yeah. But I'd be surprised, even if he's a harsh fit, I'd be surprised if he starts next week, to be perfectly honest. I think he'll go. I think part of it will go for a stronger team as he's able to pick person. Yeah, I think so. I think so. Depending on injuries and stuff. I have some. I think- I should have said on earlier, Pods, I think, you know, we need to go into these games with a bit of momentum. Yeah. But saying that, saying that, and now I'm going to go back on that a little bit. We've got one game to go. Yeah. And are you telling me that if, let's say, will for a couple of others don't play, are they not going to be up for the final? Of course they are. No. I think if they're injured, then you don't play them. But I think otherwise, I agree with the momentum thing. The other thing is you just don't want to pick up injuries before the final. Well, I think sometimes though, there's a self-fulfilling prophecy with that injury thing. Because you put players in, and because they're worried about getting injured, they don't go into tackles properly and they get injured. Yeah. Well, you go the whole whole game. They put your first team in and say, just play a normal game as much as you can. Yeah. Or play as many as you can get. I mean, bearing in mind that the Premier League will be slightly crossable to ask questions if you drop six or seven. Yeah. Which he's not going to do that. No, he's not. Well, I mean, I don't think the back five will change at all. No. He's not going to suddenly get sentimental or put sparoni in for the head of this stage as a game. The self-amps are a really good team. Well, he did say, didn't he? He did wait a few weeks ago. I want to, Jules has only got one behind Nigel Martin now. And he said, I want to help him make that, you know, cross that line. Yeah, he said that two or three weeks ago after he played him gets united. Well, in which case, Sparoni might come on with five minutes for the end of that. Yeah. It's a weird thing to say, wasn't it? When you haven't played him, you'll see him. Yeah. When you could have played him in a League Cup game or something. I think the back five is people you wouldn't play. Yeah. You didn't wait before the cut for it. There's a data people you want. You definitely want them playing. Yeah. Yeah. That's fascinating to see what. I don't think he would, I don't think he would risk a buy unless he's anything other than... No, I think MacArthur will probably start jetnet. I think MacArthur needs to start just for much fitness because he's still even though he looked perfectly filled. He's still, what do they say, he has to get it into your legs or whatever it is? No. Well, because he's only something he's third or fourth-game back. Yeah. Yeah. He's not his first four-game back. He's subverted. He needs to get it into his leg. Yeah. That's why one of those expressions, they usually get it into your leg. He's getting him. He's not the first 10 yards being up in your head. Yeah, just getting your legs right. Getting your legs right. Getting your legs. Get it in your legs. He's just slowing it. Yeah. That's what I brought, he'd say. We're first 10 yards being hit. We'll try and catch up with you right there. He's first 10 yards on the pitch. That's why he's scoring more goals than you. Prediction. Yeah. For all. Good. Well, do you know, I don't think that's as ludicrous as it sounds, really. I would go three, two, set first. Okay. Three, two to Southampton. Yeah. Wow. He's dangerous. Yeah. We've got a good record down there. Obviously got scored a little over it for all. We've got a good record down there, remember? Yeah, we have. Beat me if I can't, didn't we? Yeah. Two years running. Yeah. Okay, that's it. Brilliant. That's it. That came out of the blue. What happened to, on a, what? Talking to Southampton. Yeah. What was it? Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? No. Are we having another pod before the final? Well, I almost wish I hadn't mentioned it, but there's been so much interest in this drink for overseas fans and alleys fans coming down from other parts of the country. And so many of them said we're not getting into a Friday morning. Yeah. So I think we're going to announce certain people are looking for the various venues. I think it's going to be on the Friday night. Okay. It's definitely going to happen. Right. On the Friday nights. It'll be on the Friday night. There are so many people who aren't getting into the Friday mornings. Well, I was actually going to suggest that to you. Yeah. Well, I'd like to ask you as boys come from Virginia, they're not around until about 11 o'clock on Friday nights. Well, it's a straight to pop. Well, we can't do it. I want to invite them. I just want to invite them. Well, we're not. Well, they're not invited. It's just that. Well, we might still be there. But at 11 o'clock at night, it will be Andy Street and Neil the Fish. Yeah. Telling each other they love each other. So if you want to join in there, that's fine. We'll go on. We'll make it right. We'll make it right. Because it has been. Should we do it early doors? Like five or something? Well, yeah, early enough that people can, if they want to come early. Yeah. We'll be around, don't we? Yeah, yeah. Where are we doing this, changing? It was. Well, it had previously been at the old Thameside Inn. Yeah, by the gold mines. By the gold mines. By the gold mines. But we'll find somewhere. We'll announce it. Yeah, we'll announce it. We'll announce it on Twitter. It's really nice that 70 people have said they want to. Yeah. Which is neither people are making the effort to come home for the final. And people are really...
