Hello, and welcome to the five-year plan podcast. Extra. Extra. Extra. It's one, seven, five extra. So that just creeped me out a little bit. I didn't really like how eerie that was. Well, you started it. Dog puns. Oh, dog puns, yeah. Well, if people haven't listened to one, seven, five, that's now going to make no sense. What is it? I was still enjoying it, aren't they? They should listen to one, seven, five. Yeah, if anybody here is listening to this, and not one, seven, five, stop listening now. Yeah, you're going to miss out on the context. It's pointless. Is this going to be similar to when J.D. gives recommendations how people can listen to the podcast and have technical issues? You can't treat us like this. Well, no, you can't just pick us up and put us down. People who want to dot about can dot about. No, you can't. And talking of a dotting, dog in a redbridge, dog in a redbridge, it's damn worth. We're sponsored by Vecta, a Britain embroidery company, expector.co.uk and that's Vecta with that. Okay. Yeah. Thank you very much. Okay, it's my idea. Oh, we've got someone whining like a dog next to me as well, which is brilliant. I'm also sponsored by JC Innovation and Strategy, the Innovation and Support, Brandon Innovation and Consultants from South London, that's JC-IS.com, visit their website. There we go. I'll mess that up a little bit, but never mind. We're talking about Norwich. I mean, we had a question in 175, maybe about whether or not it's a must, winner, a must. Do it. That's right. [laughter] Mine on the game, Mike, mine on the game. We've got Norwich. Let's just pause. Wow. How does field town? Wow. How does field town? Does field town? Okay. How? That was out of that one. Sorry. Carry on. No. We're not covered by that. Absolutely staying in there. Norwich. We're going to talk about Norwich. Now, we have quite a question about them in 175, main part about whether or not for Palace, it's be quiet and stop thinking of dog punters. Stand correct. [laughter] Very good. Whether it's a must win or a must not lose game, that happened. This is not the mirror podcast. This is like JD right now. This is great. Yeah. Right. What do we make of Norwich's recent form? Are we a bit scared of playing them, given how in form they've been? Yeah, a little bit, because they're... That's what they... I'm sorry. You didn't think you had dog punters. I can't concentrate. You've ruined it now. Yeah, of course we're worried, but as Kev mentioned, I don't want to ruin pod one time and five for anyone, but spoiler alert, Kev mentions that Norwich won a really bad run before they started winning. Something does change from does turn. We've got Norwich at home, followed by Everton at home. We could be on 40 points just over a week from now, to very feasibly win all games. I'm looking forward to it. Well, that's an astonishing degree of optimism, given we're just equal to a record run of home defeats. Everton's away form is much better than their home form, which is a word, but under normal circumstances, any team in a situation will be looking at those two home games again. This is a chance to pick up points. Norwich is arguing Norwich's best performance in their seven points. It was against Man City, Neil Neil draw there, because West Brom, you'd probably pick West Brom to play. I know they were very lucky to get a point against Sunderland. You'd pick West Brom or a team who've got nothing to play for at this stage of the season. You would pick Norwich to be Newcastle under any circumstances. I think it's a bad thing, Norwich will probably come into that game with a degree of optimism. They probably shouldn't have, really, which I think is useful for us. I hope they do. I hope Norwich approached the game. I hope they come and turn up and think that they're suddenly about to take over, because Norwich fans will be sitting there again. It will be Palace. It will be level on points with them. I think that's actually not a bad thing for us, and I think if they hadn't, you know what, they wouldn't have won any of those games, and we'd be putting them outside. But there won't be any level of complacency for us, and Alex, Neil, I think, probably wound, pied you up a little bit a couple of weeks ago, and he said that they were looking to hunt Palace down, hopefully, pied you, can use that. And certainly, if Wickham's available, you know, that would be a better team with the sunshine in there at the clock, so you never know, but I think there will be a little bit more of a spring in the step from Palace players than there was before the West End game. Certainly, I think it's taken a bit of the pressure off as I think that is a bonus point, and I just, what I hope we don't do is do what we did against Leicester, which is just lit, just to be on the back foot from the start. I think without going going home, we need to do what we did in the second half against West End and play on the front foot, because Norwich conceived goals in most situations. And if you look at their squad, yeah, they got good players, they brought a nice myth in, but we should be able to beat them. But having said that, I would still would take it, if you offered me a point now, I'd still take it. The home form is a worry, and I think the fans are a factor as well, because certainly against Leicester, the atmosphere wasn't great from the start, to be perfectly honest, and I think we need to sort of get behind them and give them as much of a lift as possible. How would we look to set the Palace team up then, in life, the Norwich form, in light of the slightly nervy home crowd? I think Norwich liked to play quite an expansive style, which you could say is one of the reasons why they are, where they are, with the players that they have. But I think that if we, it has to be a mix of things, it has to be, if we have Kebai and Punch and Wickenback, then we have as good a chance of being a good bet going forward as we do defensively, because Kebai, I think, brings a little bit more calmness to our midfield play as well. So I don't see there being any reason why we shouldn't try and compete with them, like for like, rather than trying to go completely, rather than try and go ultra-defensive. And I think that's something that you really need to do away from home. We had a few questions this week about going with the two up top thing. I mean, we spoke a lot about Dwight Gallin, Pod 175. Would any of you go with the option of putting two men up top against Norwich? I'd go with Kebai, sorry, I'd go with Kebai and Punch and in midfield and then maybe Gail and Wicken up front, why not? I might be tempted to do the same, because with those two in midfield, you've got a bit more temperament in terms of actually doing something with the ball and possession, which I think that ledly and ledly led to a lesser extent, but Gebenback certainly is not a ball playing midfielder. And then in Wicken, you have someone who's able to hold the ball up and in Gail, you've got someone who's able to buzz around him. Well, I think we're only assuming that Wicken's going to be shit. We'll start. And I think as much as we talked in Pod 175, for those of you who listened to it... If so, sorry. Yeah. But I do think based on what Pargy said about Gail after the answer, I do think he'll start again. I just think it would be against everything Pargy's done so far to make such a drastic change, if to suddenly start 4-4-2, I think it's an option if we need it. I can't see him doing that, I can't see him bringing Wicken back and playing him next to Gail, because then who do you lose out of punch and Zahar and Balasci, he really liked Saka, so I think if Wicken's fit, he'll start, I don't know. I think if Wicken's fit, he'll probably start with it, but it's difficult for us to talk about it. I mean, it's a good problem, if Wicken's fit, it's the first time in a long time that we've actually had more players than we need if you see it, I mean, because the team has picked itself in because of injuries, unfortunately, but I think Gail's an option. I just can't see him suddenly going 4-4-2, and I just don't see what he would do. I can't see him not starting with Balasci as Harle, I mean, Harle's brilliant first half. If Wicken won't be fit enough to go straight into the team, I just can't get over the fact that the way he talks, you can't imagine that Gail won't start the game. He did a similar thing with Sparini, though. He did, that's true, that is true, that is true, I mean, he talked up his chances, and then he does seem to like Saka, and Saka did put himself about a bit of his fun of us. Well, Saka, to be fair, Saka's crossing is not a problem, and it's just all the other stuff. Well, it is, but you know, you talk about being a championship player, arguably, we're playing a championship team in a way, isn't it? Well, it's just not the best primitive lead to him, either the Balas in the table. I just know they're going to be in that, not as dressing, isn't it? Well, he's a big listener, he's doing that by the stock, he's doing that by the stock. You do know he listens only to the extra bit, not the main bit. The fact is as well, I've just actually found, caught myself listening, so I'll take a point. It's coming to something, when you're playing a team that are below us at home, when you say, actually, I'll take a point in the service of that, it's because, I do, I think it's interesting that we've got that game so quickly on Wednesday, because I've always thought that as soon as we get a win, we'll probably get another one, and, you know, a pallet of light, the chances are at this time, next, or two weeks time, we can be going, well, why are we worried again? Suddenly, we've got 40 points, and we're going into the semi-final, 43, when they could go, yeah, he wouldn't put that past pallet's to make a point in it, but, yeah, it's mainly an aren't well beat as an old traffic. We've got five games, though, coming up, I think, in 15 days, is this something like that? Yeah. It's going to be really, it's a tough, tough couple of weeks. It is, but it is, it's a tough couple of weeks for Sunderland, and for Swansea, and for, yeah, because that's the other thing, psychologically, if we go above Swansea, which would really help, so it is a tough couple of weeks, but it's a tough couple of weeks for the Sunderland Newcastle, and Norwich, as I'll see what I said before, I'm quite pleased that Norwich will be going into this, hopefully, a little bit, a little bit cocky, a little bit expecting to beat us. Well, they'll remember that match at Caro Road, obviously, where, for a lot of that game, they'll probably be a little bit bent, I swear, they might get a bit of that game. No, no, well, not much of that game, do you say? We were better in the first half, we were in control until about 60 minutes, then they scored, and Jerome had that goal to allowed, so yeah, you wouldn't progress on the point, but I'd say the best team won that game. The series, the Co-hero series that Palace is doing, I watched the Michael Hughes one that was brilliant, as I'm sure we all did, and I sent the link to my dad, and he just texted back saying, interesting, he mentioned that the Norwich game was a, Norwich at home was a turning point, I thought, what a pessimistic outlook to a lovely feature, but now I'm worried. Because of that, well, if there's one thing that we know that Palace fans are a very optimistic bunch, aren't we? Well, the fees, you have to bear in mind as well, it's hard to see something be a Leicester, it's hard to see Newcastle getting something at Southampton, so if we do lose, it's one game closer to the end of the season, but I don't, I don't, I generally can't see it as well, I generally can't see it as losing this game, and I suspect that when we do win our first game, we'll win it quite well. I think it's purely because of the fact that Norwich then plays Sunderland in the game immediately after Rars, it really, by own sake, is important, I think, to not lose that game. I think we've got the quality, it's silly, it's ridiculous that we're saying that we're worried about this, but we do have the quality to win that match, I think the problem that we've probably had, that we have had for the last 16 games is that some of that quality has been let down by just idiotic individual errors, in most cases, the team performances, as I said before, haven't actually been that bad, but there have been individual errors, whether it's Swire with Marrez or, you know, the Wayne Hennessy error, Aston Villa, these kind of games, there's always one individual error, and that's the thing that has to be cut out, so if every player is on their game, we should be able to beat Norwich, and that's all time. Time to put your cards on the table, predictions, Mike, three, nil, to any particular team or just either way, not sure, Palace, okay, there we go, I think there would be a lot of happy people in the pool's arms, if that ends up it in the case, Kevin, I'm not quite, three, one, Palace, oh, blimey, I could even see how it's going to go down, yeah, I just think, I generally, I don't know who's said this before, but I generally feel there's a slight change in the second half on Saturday, and I just, I think it's just important that we take the game to them, and you know, not, and then Rob's is a sort of football, they play, they do tend to try to get forward, which should play into our team, but, yeah, I can see it's winning it pretty well. - That sounds like a very positive note. Well, no, because I get predictions wrong every time. I tell you what, I've got a habit of losing bets, I'm particularly bad at gambling, every time I put a bet on a lose, and bearing that in mind, I put a bet on my hand to win on Saturday, and obviously that didn't come off, so I'm going to, again, try to use my net to chew the betting by betting on Norwich in that particularly game. I think, I think it's going to be one of those slightly nervy, so I just don't see us ever being particularly calm, or it being one of those instances in which Palace ended up getting an early goal, we don't worry about anything. I think there'll be a few nervy moments, so I think we're good enough to get a point against Norwich, and it's really important that every fan gets behind the team, like, in a way that we didn't against Leicester, and it was really obvious against Leicester, where, right from the start, there just was this kind of tepid atmosphere where none really, to be fair to the fact, you could argue that that kind of came from the pitch where... I don't blame us for three minutes, that's what I don't blame our fans, but I think that part of it has to come from the players, isn't it? Sure, sure. That's okay for that again. Well, there we go, on that note, I think we can all hope that, you know, we get the positive result and that Palace fans also get behind the team, and also that all people who've listened to this podcast listening next week, when hopefully we'll have six points on the ball perhaps. Special. Extra. Well, no, it'll be, it'll be one, seven, six, but that's actually not the last one. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, no, no, no, no. I'm unbelievable. Right. Thank you very much for listening. Kevin, Mike, and Rob, thank you very much for joining me, and we'll see you all again next week, and thanks. Bye. Bye. Bye.
