Just some guy called Damien Delaney. He's a pro rock act. He might sign it. You see the guy who was who slipped from left to right. Yeah. He's a big Eric Clapton fan. He's a... Yeah. Of course he is. Of course he's an Eric Clapton fan. You know, I think Eric Clapton is a pop. Oh, God, you mean? Oh, okay. God, people call Eric Clapton God. Do you not know that? What, no? Yeah, well they do. Okay. Very good, no, I don't. Good guitar, Creamer, a good group. Yeah, it was a drummer in Creamer, it was crazy. Ginger Baker? Yeah, he was crazy, wasn't he? Well, that's kind of Viking gold baker these days. Yeah, yeah. Okay, we started with a poor joke. That's good. How do you mean to go on? Anyway, let's... It's very good to be back, thanks. Yeah. I'm really sorry I missed that sleep, but work... It's okay. Work came in... Work happened. I realized that you had a good substitute in Damien Delaney. We did, yeah, we did. We did. We did. And thank you, first of all, to all the kind comments from a lot of our listeners who enjoyed that pod. And have let us know that they enjoyed it. I only enjoyed the levels were a bit off in this. The levels were a bit off, but part of that I thought it was very exciting. You didn't need to lean into the microphone very loudly to do that. Did I? No, you didn't. Okay, I won't. Okay, good. Right, let's talk then about what we've... There's been two games since Palace played... Sorry, since we got the public demo. We played Chaun at home in a cup. Yeah, good. And Watford away in the Premier League, and we won both games. It's pretty good. Two wins. Shall we start with the Chaun game? I mean, I personally don't really care that much about Chaun, but... And I didn't go to the game either. But it was really good. It was really good, great. So it starts at a level of professionals and it's indeed people to give a podcast about an impeccable sound engineering from you. Yeah. You guys went to the Chaun game. Yes, because we're a proper fans. Yeah. And we paid out £20. Good. I paid my money to go and watch Palace. I'd say thank you to the club for making it cheap for kids as well, because two of my children went for a fiver. Well, there you go. So that's good. And it was packed in the hole, wasn't it? Well, that's how it tripped in it. Yeah, it was great. Thank you to the club for making it cheap. I don't think I've seen as one side of the match that so I've done a long time. It was embarrassingly dominant from Palace. Got to half time and having Chaun and touched the ball when Palace was sort of creating chances at will. It did show the golf in class between both the clubs and also the two divisions. Mind the gap. As we can. Mind the gap. Yeah. I mean, for all their half and half, they really should have come along and tried to play like a P-list team. I thought just sat back, tried to stay compact and deep. Which is not true for you, isn't it, early on in the first game? Well, did a great job by doing so. Yeah. It obviously took us nearly all the way to penalty. It took us into extra time. Then just tied towards the end. But Chaun seemed to try and get up in our faces a little bit in the first sort of 15 minutes. It was just picking them off at will because of it. It was just fantastic to get to. It must have been about, what, 20 minutes in the end and the guy. Yeah, I know that we've already won this, but let's just really rub it in by bringing on Johann Kebok. I enjoyed that, man. I enjoyed it as well. I mean, it was great. It was great to see four goals. But, you know, it was one of those where he should have been, he should have been centre eight, really. I mean, there's a lot of chances of this. But, you know, it was good for confidence. It was great to beat a team locally as well. Yeah. You know, there was a bit of who are in the crowd. I don't know. There's a bit of who are afterwards as well, which I didn't really like. But, apart from that, it was a great game. It was a nice evening out. Show about the draw, getting Man City away. But, I'm sure we could do it. Or, could that be a good draw for Palace? I believe they've got the Champions League game just before that or just after. So, like, that's in a run of fairly, you know, congested fixtures. And they're not, this is this man's that your team is, I was going to say, take honorable. That's not a word. But, you know, Spurs beat them either way. And we ran them quite close. So, it's not a foregone completely. You can add good grammar to the sound engineering and the loyalty to Palace. Or it does make up words. But, just going back to the child game, it was good that, you know, we did rest a few players. And the team looked great. I mean, they look like they do play with each other on a regular basis, though they don't. You know, it was... Do you want go, Patrick? Yeah, well, there were two penalties, yeah. I mean, I'd rather he got a hat trick against Watford, which you should have done. Well, we'll come on to that later. Yeah, I mean, it was great to see him. Didn't seem to celebrate as much as I thought he would do. Maybe because it was the only against Charter. Yeah, well, his baby's on against Charter. But, no, it was really great to see Dwight E. Score. I thought MacArthur was excellent in that game. He seemed to run the mood field with, again, embarrassing ease. And just was all over the place, picking out passes, making challenges when he had to. I think Charter had the ball twice, maybe, in the entire match. So he had to get it back in the middle. Okay. And, yeah, just showing that, you know, very, very much the sort of... Should we end his touch? The Premier League midfielder. End is touched on it. Should we talk about the post-match stuff that happened? Because it was an issue, wasn't it? Well, I've got no idea still why they didn't just keep the Charter fans in for 15 minutes. Absolutely not. It just seemed absolutely ridiculous. I don't know whether that was at the club's behest because they didn't want the stadium to smash it up. And you can sort of understand it to a certain extent, but make sure there is adequate stewarding to stop people from doing so. So if that was the worry. But, yeah, I believe they sort of ferry people around and forgot that not every road in South London is an avenue that doesn't connect with somewhere else. And some of them are actually arranged on, like, a grid-iron-type pattern. So you can block a corner, but people might go around the other two corners and then come and find each other. So apparently that happened, and the Met in their usual, inimitable style managed to mess things up. Actually, there was a big police presence, wasn't there, before the game? There was a big police presence. I was told it was about Muslims, and then it still didn't really... I was quite shocked at the police presence before the game. I mean, I know it was a local derby for a once for a better phrase, you know. But the police presence was quite heavy-handed before the game. And then the season, a little bit of a few skirmishes during the game as well. I mean, I'm sure the Palace fans were goading the charter fans, you know. But since there were a few fights going on and the stewards were getting involved. But at the end, I mean, I'll say again why they didn't just keep them in for ten minutes, ten minutes. That's all they would have taken, and just get the police to get the Palace fans on the wheel and then get the charter fans off. It was just stupid. I mean, absolutely stupid. There's a big thing as well. It's apparently that they'd had a meeting prior to the match with the football supporters' federation and a representative of the club, someone from the Trust, a few others. And if that's their pre-planned method of policing, what the hell is it like when they don't bother to plan? Yeah. I mean, it's just unbelievably chaotic at the top of that. Yeah, frustrating for fans though, isn't it? For the 99% of normal fans who want to go and get home that time and night, I haven't got a problem with, you know, Chardon, I don't even care about Chardon. So frustrating that there will be some people, and some people will hit with stuff, I think, balls and stuff, that will take that away from the game and not the fact that Palace have won. Well, yeah, in kudos to those who managed to throw bottles at, like, families who sport the same clubs, and I believe it was only Chardon fans, but it takes a special type of sexual frustration and a night at one's life to do that. So, well done, you guys. Well done. Frustrating, you know, what, I mean, what can fans do really, apart from possibly right to the football supporters' federation, always quite good at sporting fans, aren't they? But do anything fans can do really? It's not really a great deal. I suppose, apart from, you know, trying to make sure that you make adequate plans to get away from, you know, the flash points will be, if it's a game itself, it's like, you always know it's going to be at the top of the home style, that stuff's going to be, you know, going on, or that there's going to be a bit of... You should, I mean, with... Oh, no, no, these days. They shouldn't be, but there's always going to be someone who wants to, you know, do city stuff like that, and I guess that's the only way that you can deal with it. I mean, I don't agree with some of the sort of heavy-handed policing you see at some matches. But it doesn't really help when you've got people throwing bottles at you. I guess the only silver lining is that all Palette's rivals are so bad these days, we rarely play them. So we should be all right, rest of the season, really. We should be all right. You're wearing an FA Cup draw, don't you? We'll be all right. Okay, well, let's moving on to another... They're not really London rival, but technically they are in London. Watford, Palette 1-1-0. They're not technically in London at all. They're not, they're not... Oh, they're not at all for sure. They are maybe on the end of the Metropolitan Line, but that doesn't mean they're in London. Oh, okay. So it's not... Oh, so they're not a London team. They're trying to play on that. The posos who own them and also Granada and Udenaz. I forget which ones which, because they're all a little bit interchangeable. But they're quite keen to play upon the Watford being a London club thing, despite not being a London club. It doesn't... The rugby team that shares the ground, or used to, was London... Saracens. London Saracens. Whatever they were at work. That's not a London... I don't know anything about rugby. I don't know anything about rugby. I don't even really understand most of the rules. To be honest, so... Well, welcome to our rugby World Cup special. Okay, so Palace won one nil. Not the best of performances from Palace, but proof that this team can sort of grind out or assault when it's not really going that way. I mean, as you say, it wasn't pretty to watch. I think a few of the players played under par, but I think there were some great performances there, which we'll get onto. Handgland especially, I thought, was immense, and I'll take back everything I'd said from him to my family and friends over the last few months, because I thought he was... He was brilliant, wasn't he? Yeah, he was great, yeah, he was great. And I like his facial hair as well. Did not notice that, is he? Well, I've got high-definition TV. So, I wasn't at the game. I wasn't at the game. You can join the JD club. Anyone here with 100% record of game matches recently? He is high-density. I mean, in defense... He was the Muncie game. Let's not dwell on that. Sure, shall I? Obviously, my spiritual home of Olip's Calamata. Okay. Why didn't Palace play very well then? I think it was a combination of fights. I think that it's basically what seemed to take a very compact approach to playing football. When they're quite cynical, actually, they did... It was a match in which there were 39 fouls. I've written some stats down today. I couldn't see it. We've not got characters in here to come up with unsubstantiated facts. I would put in some actual facts. Okay, good. Yeah, 39 fouls in that match, which is... Do you know the breakdown of those fouls? Yeah, it seems about... It was about half an hour, wasn't it? We had two more than them. Oh, really? Okay. I mean, it did have a bit of a needle about the game. It did, didn't it? It was particularly towards the end as well. I thought they were becoming increasingly cynical, and there was some, you know, obvious yellow cards. Something ended up four yellow cards each. No, I'm just now telling you that. Well, I thought the yellow cards were an interesting one, because the rest of them didn't let things go early on. And then it did take a second half. They all came out, didn't they? It just got to the point where he couldn't let it go any further. Exactly. You know, I'll let it go. I'm going to have to. And he was like, I was watching it on TV, and even the creep on TV, who was slightly biased towards Watford, was saying he's got to pull out yellow cards, so this is ridiculous. Yeah. He was ridiculous. A lot of them were very cynical as well, which I didn't like. Well, I thought they had targeted Kebai early on. There was sort of three or four in a row on him, albeit by different players. But he seemed to be a little bit within his shell at times just at end. There were a couple of little slightly petulant action as well, where he sort of scrapes studs past someone as though Lionel. I think he was very good management by a party to take him off at that point, because I think he was just teaching on the level of just like he could have. He seems to get, you can rile him a bit, can't he? He's just a bit of an action. He's definitely got to fire his eyes, and he's definitely got a dark side to him, which I like. I like it too. I think at this level being that coy football and having a bit of a dark side, all the greats have got a dark side to that. Yeah, I agreed. And also what I like about Kebai is the fact that he will, we're seeing each week this other side of his game that no one really talks about when he joined. That actually he can play defensively and dig in and work hard, and he'll take it late on. It wasn't the foot scratching one, foot scratching. But he gave away yellow card on the halfway line, sort of cynical foul. But you've got to do that sometimes and he'll do that for the team. So there is that side of his game alongside the ball passing skill stuff. I thought Will played amazing when he came on for the last 30-35 minutes. I thought he sort of changed the game. It was really exciting. And again, good management shoot, good management by Pargy. Oh, I love it. I was saying he wasn't playing right, his mind's not on it, he needs a bit of a break. And obviously Will says that on the sidelines he's going, "Right, I'm going to prove it to you." And he came and he did. Well, that's the way to get the best out of Zahar is to keep giving him those targets, I guess. I think so, yeah. I think the thing that impressed me most about Will, yes, there wasn't obviously just the fact that he won the penalty. We know that he's got that in his locker. It was also the defensive discipline that he showed. There were three or four occasions where we lost the ball. And obviously they were going to be pressing in the latter stages a little bit. They didn't really offer a huge amount all after then, which I think was one of the things that contributed to a fairly poor match over all their lack of impetus in the final third at times. But there are a few opportunities late on where they were sort of bursting down the flank that he was on. And he was making sure that he was getting back with the men, sort of doubling up where he needed to put in a couple of really good challenges as well. And that's not always a side that we've always say said with Will Saha. So, maybe he's growing up. It is, well, I was actually just growing up. I was actually just about to say it was a very mature performance when he came on. You know, he wasn't putting the ball at risk when he didn't need to. But he was drawing the fallback Nyom who came from Trent Nada. Fantastic name. He was a very physical fallback and was actually done really quite well for Watford since he signed. And he managed to commit in sort of two or three times and then obviously committing for the penalty as well. It was a definite penalty, wasn't it? Absolutely. I don't know if he was in the area. It was a foul and it was in the area. Exactly. So, that usually means it's penalty. Yeah. Maybe. Well, I don't know. I'm not you two. I was actually on the match. So, I had a fit of five HD replays. And I thought it was about seven or three hours of load analysis. Loads of loads of analysis. It was really nice. I had to ask him to tea watching that. Me too. Me and I sandwich it out of time. My wife made for me. Lovely. There were quite a few changes for the game. We had a change in goal which was kind of unforeseen. I mean, we said, we've made mistakes and stuff. Did we think he'd be dropped? I was very surprised. I was surprised. I was surprised. Because everyone always talks about the fact that, you know, I was there can hit a goal, keep his confidence quite heavily if they're dropped after games in which they've made mistakes. And, you know, I think by most people's admission, apparently, even his own, he did make a bit of a mistake with that. It's first goal. But equally, I thought, Hennessy made a mistake. And we've already made a mistake. I thought he'd made the mistake for the chart on goal for the header, came straight home. It's one of those things that seems to be a fairly biased set of analysis on goalkeepers for Palace fans at home. People seem to have their favourites. And then, because of that, construct the arguments based upon who they want to be picked in the team rather than based on the match that's actually happened in front of them. There were people who'd criticised McCarthy for that goal that you can see at Spurs, who, by the same token, should have criticised Hennessy for the goal. You can see it's chart on but didn't. And on that basis, I was quite surprised, given that obviously tuning has not fit yet. But, given that Hennessy had made one mistake in that match against Charlton and it had been a lead cut match for him to then retain the spot for the Watford game. I wasn't entirely taken by him in the Watford game. I thought there were sort of two or three instances where his handling wasn't great. Does that moment in the second half towards the end of the second half? Yeah. Where he was supposed to catch the ball, he bounced off the Watford game. Well, he sort of went to get it and all the defenders turned away a lot. He's always got this. And then suddenly it was out of his hands again. And that was the moment when they were repressing to him. But thankfully, their players had also turned away thinking, "You can't keep us got this." If any of them gambled on it, that could have been nothing. Well, that's the thing, right? We had it obviously against Man City in there, you know, a top-class side who were going to gamble on a goalkeeper, making a mistake. Particularly, one who's not playing for a top-four side, albeit a top-six side, but not a top-four side. They'll make the gamble that the goalkeeper might have made the mistake, but no one seemed to do that from the Watford side. Equally, there was the cross that was hoisted into the box late in the second half as well, that he seemed to just drop at someone's feet in front of him. That was quite a long way away. It certainly wasn't a poor performance though, was it? It was. I wouldn't say it was a fantastic performance. I thought there were a couple of instances on the three kicks as well, where he seemed to get caught in his heels and his footwork wasn't quite there for me. And I know that's a tiny bit of microanalysis that I've criticized in previous weeks, but there were two instances. The first one, in the first half where it clips the top of the wall, I don't think he's getting across to it there. And the one where Gerardo, who's a whole petulant little shit. Get off him, Fred. Get off the nice three kicks though. It's a great free kick, but Hennessy's not getting anywhere near it. I mean, I could be no-keepers getting near that really, aren't they? Well, if anyone should be getting close to it, it's a goalkeeper who's six foot five. I mean, everyone's been going on about the fact Hennessy should be picked because he's marginally taller than McCarthy. So if you're going to pick him on that basis, then he should really be making sure that his footwork is a little bit better with free kicks. McCarthy's been unlucky. No, not lucky. He's made mistakes, but all his mistakes he's made have been punished. He hasn't made that many, but he has made a couple in high profile games being punished, whereas Hennessy made a few on Sunday, and they didn't, possibly because it was against Watford and not against Mattard. The thing is that both pretty decent goalkeepers don't actually think there's a lot in it, to be honest between the two of them. And I think you're all drilled. I mean, we've got... Well, this is a great time. You need, as a goalkeeper, you need, as with any position, any football team, you need confidence. But I think the goalkeeper, you definitely need it. And you need to be able to marsh those four guys in front of you. And you need to have that sort of be very verbal with them. And I don't really see any situation in a lot of that. There'll be a couple of instances of indecision as well, where he's not really come to claim it, which would be, again, one of the things you'd expect him to do most. And there are a couple of moments where he didn't seem to be, as Enda says, communicating with his back for all that well, and then coming and being the sort of assertive goalkeeper that you'd expect, which notwithstanding the fact that... People criticise me for saying that on the pod, but screw you. I don't care. Notwithstanding the fact that McCarthy's made a few mistakes so far, he's handling in the box and from high balls. It's been pretty damn good actually. And he does clearly have a connection with his back four, but bear in mind, Hennessy hasn't played with that. And he comes in now and then cup game. So surely it's harder to get a connection or relationship with your defenders. No, that's fair. And I wouldn't want to see Hennessy dropped on the basis of a couple of minor mistakes, which I'm picking up on a little bit, just to sort of even things up after people have been doing the same for some McCarthy's mistakes. But you'd expect him to retain the jersey for next week. I mean, you can understand squad rotation in the Premier League, but when it comes to goalkeepers, you'd like to keep it the same wand on you. When was the last time that Palace had three good, decent goalkeepers to choose from? I mean, normally. Yes, three. No, that was only two, because it's probably the end. But when it's very bad, that's three very good goalkeepers that you'd sort of feel right with any of them in goal, really. I mean, I personally would rather have McCarthy, but normally we've got one clinko and then, you know, Matt Craig has back up. So, you know, it's a decent, decent option. Well, as again, we've talked about on a regular basis, strength and depth. Exactly. We've got a spawning of which, Joe Lindley, obviously. Lindley played very well, I thought. So, we had a few weeks ago, then, where I was criticized and I was not playing, holding the fielder. And you would expect, after we kept a clean sheet, yes, then, one, we've led the playing pretty well, that I would go, "Oh, look, I was right. I'm not that facetious." I actually thought it was a bit harsh on McCarthy. Apparently, he was injured. I didn't think he was very harsh on McCarthy. I was surprised, because I would always choose McCarthy. Yeah, I think we all would, wouldn't we? And it looks like that's what party wants to play this season, but apparently it bit up an injury in training. But then came on for the last 20 minutes, I didn't think it was that bad. So, again, it goes up to your point, and we have the options off the bench. People would do that, like they'd lean, and Jedi. I thought we looked less creative, though, with him not being there. Obviously, we've kept the clean sheet and let them put in a very good defensive performance. But I thought arguably, we looked less mobile in the field. And we did create, I think, fewer chances than we have done in previous weeks. I've got the chance stats there. I have got a good good stat here. Before you do this, I've gone in to do the stat. Abdi of Watford created as many chances as Kibai, Punch, and Sacco, and Balassie put together. Okay, there you go. Well, silent. Good. Probably made what we've done. Maybe you should buy him. Him in the midfield. And then we're done. Why did I midfield not create as many chances as you? I just think it was just one of those games where the opposition don't really come there to... They're not going to see the goals so far at home this season, but equally. They've not played in such a way as to have any goals scored themselves. I think they've only scored one and conceded not. So, it's not like you expecting a... No, no, no, no. They're very tight in the middle. Which maybe just goes to show that Padu picked the right team and put in, you know, a fairly physical guard, like Ledley in there, rather than risking. MacArthur obviously came on late and was fitting off to be on the pitch at some point. But obviously it's something that, you know, Padu probably got right there. Well, the way Watford played though, doesn't it? It can't remind you of Palis by kind of the punis, isn't it? Like a team who got one ambition this season to stay up. So they're being solid. They're being compact. And it's actually working for us so far. They'll do all right. I don't think they'll go down. I don't think they'll go down. I thought it's the season I thought they would. But to be honest, from watching Sunday, there are worse teams. There's teams that play way more open than they do. I mean, they passed more than we did. They passed more than the attacking final further than we did. It just looks like they're lacking a goal score at the moment. Well, it's weird though because they had two guys last season who scored over 20 goals. Dini did a goal though. I think so. Speaking of... We just looked at those as that extra bit of quality. You know, it was... I wouldn't say it was that much better than what we just... That little bit where we had that bit of quality. We got that quality which we've been building up over the last two or three seasons. Now, it's games like the Watford game where it shows how far we've progressed in the Premier League. People experience. It's experience. It's experience. The nuances and stuff of the game. Speaking of goals though, do I go and start it up front? Which a lot of us have been calling for for some time, scored a hat against Charlton in the cup? What did you make of his performance? Because it didn't quite work for him, did it? Although going back to Treat's Point, not many chances created. So maybe it wasn't the quite right game for him. Like what did you make of him? We've still had enough. I like a bit. It was a low chance game. I love my little statistical models. There was one that I'd look at that said that both teams, if you're putting it on the right basis, were averaging a level that was under a goal each. So it wasn't a particularly high chance creating game. But still, even in spite of that, Dwight did have two or three really good opportunities. Particularly the one that he dinked over. Going back to the post. You kind of wonder if he should have maybe done better there. The replay suggested that the defender got the smallest of touches onto it onto his foot. So if that's the case, perhaps a bit unlucky. I was fine enough. I didn't spot that. I haven't been at the match. Well, you could have watched the highlights. You could have watched the highlights on match of the day too. But... Do you have a TV? No. It was a lovely ball in from Sacco, I believe. But got in the right position for it. Gail gets in the right positions for these chances, but isn't quite finishing the half chances that maybe when he was getting runs in the game... But there's only a handful of strikers in the Premier League that are that amazing, that are going to get every half chance. You know, these are the strikers you're talking. It costs you 35, 40 million quid. They will take those half chances that the girl didn't get. The fact that he's in there, he's getting those chances. He's getting them and he was causing a few problems. Do you think he's... For the way we play is the right goal. I thought you were going to talk about isolating at times yesterday, particularly in the first half. It got to about 40 minutes. Some of his link-up play at times is, you sometimes wonder about his ability to read the game around him and to drop into the right spaces to receive the ball, or to sort of spot where the play is going and to see where the pass is going to be laid off to. Well, I think when the ball does come into him, he's not a massive slouch with it, but he does just end up looking a little bit marginalized in games at times. I thought he did that at times yesterday. It was better late on when we were starting to break a bit more, and he created that chance himself on his left at the ever so slightly drag wide, but it started to come back into the game a little bit more that stage. Obviously, at the moment, we've not really got any better options. You know, Wickham's out, Murray is in Bournemouth. Bamford is probably doing his hair or something, and Shamak is doing his hair or something, and Gail is one of the few options we've got left there at the moment. It is a bit ironic that Murray's gone, isn't it? And instantly, literally, the week later, we need a big man up top. That's frustrating. It's not necessarily a big man. You just need somebody up there who's got the experience. Which we had in Murray. Which we had with Murray, yeah, we had with Murray. But, hey, you know, let's not dwell on Murray. He's gone to the old person's home in the game. He might now that colour wasn't as injured. I think he came on as a sub. Well, he's come on and subbed in the last three games for Bournemouth. He's playing there. Yeah, but he hasn't started. And that's why he left Palace. Anyway, that's-- Can we talk about the two centre-backs? Yeah, oh, yes. Because I think, very interesting, the fact that, you know, we've always gone down-delaining, down-delaining, down-delaining. And then, Inca was angling, played a blinder. I mean, played a blinder. Man of the match without a doubt, worked with that. No, I think he was. I'd generally buy somewhere. And that's-- I mean, it's a great situation to be in. But again, you know, as with the keeper, and you centre-backs, it's about having that spine, isn't it, to keeping that spine solid all the way through. And we can chop and change on the francs and around that. And your spine's got to be solid. And for me, those-- your two centre-backs are so integral to the team. And is it OK that-- I mean, I'm throwing this open because I'm comparing the pod. Do we, you know, no, but I was saying, do we go back to down-delaining, or do we keep angling it? I don't know, it's a tricky one, isn't it? Well, I think neither-delaining nor angling getting any younger. So at one point or another, one or, you know, both end up getting injured. And I think it's great to have the sort of cover where angling's that sort of play. I don't think it'll let you down very much. And every time he's coming for Palace, other than-- yeah, that sort of slightly shaky start for Palace. But every time, I think, over the last 12 months or so that he's coming to the side. And someone will now write in and say, he only signed 11 months ago, and then I'll go back to him. Why have you not got rid of his stats? Well, I didn't think to look at his transfer history. Next time, I'll bring a slightly more compendious sheet of paper. But every time he's coming for Palace after having bedded in, he's not let the team down. And again, yesterday, just absolutely sorry. But again, it was an experienced performance from him on the back, wasn't it? And I was saying, his frustration had not gained that header, which was a great save. What could it say if that was-- It was an amazing save. His frustration, even at the end of the game when he was being interviewed, which we saw because we're watching on TV Street, he got interviewed, and he was still going on about it. He's so angry that he hadn't scored. It was a brilliant thing. And that's-- I like that level of commitment. I mean, I know you're going to get that from a footballer. But, you know, just to see that, you could feel as he's-- he felt good about his game. You could sense it, he's sort of grew in the game. He's like, yeah, I'm having a good game here. I'm improving. Well, it was super. A few doubters, you know, me included. Yeah, I mean, he also seems quite happy to play that, the sporting role, as in, I'd say, coming in and doing a job role. Absolutely. I don't know, wanting to play it's weak, but then he's getting on a bit, so maybe that's not his role. I was a bit worried about Kelly. I thought he was quite exposed at times and was being sort of turned into out by Anya. Yeah. So, the Watford left back, I believe. It was a bit. And it did kind of raise question marks about whether or not he was getting enough cover or whether he's able to deal with particularly tricky wingers, whether he's got the sort of mobility. I don't always rate Joe Ward quite as high as some Palace fans do. But the one thing you can say is that Ward's probably got more ability to recover once he's been beaten than Kelly perhaps has, I think he's got a bit more acceleration. Kelly's got a bit more acceleration. I sent it back, playing it right back. Yeah, I think so. I think so. We've sort of said that we'd like to see him. We've said that a few times. Well, I haven't said that. The way Hainland's playing, he won't get a chance to send it back, will he? No. Okay. Good. That's for that kind of wrap up the role of a performance, isn't it? But you know what, it was, we got three points. Not a very pretty game. There's a few great performances. And then there's sort of games that a year or two ago, we wouldn't have got a point now. Well, exactly, yeah. It doesn't really matter, does it? No. If you get the result, that's... No, I thought it had Neil and Neil written all over it before the match, and then during the match, so obviously to then sneak something, you know, it was absolutely fantastic. It was a good penalty from Kabbai, wasn't it? Yes. Well, well dispatched. And a lot of similarity to Katie's penalty. Yeah. Yeah. The last time we played Watford. When was that? 2013. And we were all there together, weren't we? I think we tried. You don't know damn well when it was. No, where it was. On the street. It was just Wembley. Similarly, 2015. That one. Of course, K.P. was in the TV. It was in the TV. Yeah. We watched it on TV. And even the penalty that Wilf won was very similar to the one he won from Casseti in the Champions League final. How'd you been there? You might have heard them in China and it's just like Wembley again. I know we were here on the TV. Yeah. And Jaz at the time. Oh, Sydney. Could it actually, yeah. Actually, yeah. It wasn't Brazilian. It was Colombian. Yeah. It's great. Actually. It's just come out. Is that your reason for it? Yeah. Okay. Good. Okay. Let's wrap up the pod. Not the pod. Part one there in part two. We've got questions from our lovely listeners. Hello listeners. Welcome back to the five year plan podcast. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Pod 151. Wow. Sponsored by JC Innovation and Strategy. The global research and brand consultancy from South London. Visit JC-IS.com. Do you want to do the things straight? What thing? The thing we were doing for JCIS before. More popular with Kevin Day than James Corden. Oh. Very good. Okay. That's nice. Say it no more. What? I'm not implying that Kevin's having an affair with James Corden. That's not what I was saying there. Me neither. No. I thought that was what that was. No, it wasn't. Okay. We're also sponsored, of course, by vector printing for all your print and embroidery needs. Go to vector.co.uk and that's vector with her. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Good. Okay. So crescendo of emotion you start off really nonchalant and then get really... Crescendo with okay. Yeah. Crescendo with okay. Yeah. Crescendo with okay. Good. Okay. Questions then from our listeners. The first question is from Tank Matt. Oh, hi Tank. Hi, Tank. Oh, Matt says, "Do you think Gail will be part of his first choice striker?" What's your only one else at the moment? We touched on this as the first part, didn't we? Probably not. I don't know but who is. We haven't got anybody else at the moment, have we? Well, not until you get Wiccan back, I suppose. I mean, I'm just coming onto that point. He said, "I have the match with Denny Paju that having Wiccan and Schmak out is the equivalent of Liverpool having been Tech A and Storage injured which obviously shows that the sort of high regard that he holds Wiccan and Schmak in firstly but also really sort of solidified that perception of those two very much would be in his sort of first choice plans, were they to be available? How do you fit those two in? Would you play them both or? He'd probably end up playing Schmak as the number 10, yeah. And then Wiccan's number, similar to how we played at Liverpool last season and then rotating between, you know, punching maybe out wide at times but also maybe rotating between him and Schmak occasionally at 10 but you know, you've then got a pool of wingers who would be sort of flitting in and about the box. It'd be nice, wouldn't it? Unfortunately, it sounds like Schmak has more house-wing injuries and stuff. Do you think we'll see him play for Palace again? Honestly, don't. We said to sort of put to me. I'm not sure. You know, you've got to think we'll see him ever again in the parallel shirt. It seems to have really recurring injuries. It's not good. It's not good. I really hope we do sit here because I think he's a class expert. It's now been, what, the best part of the year that he's been on and off really badly injured for? So, Wiccan, you came back and you said, when you said he was back for good, you were lying, weren't you? No, I said I want him back for good. Oh, you want him back for good. Yeah. Okay, so you were lying. I saw you on tour then, isn't that? Well, of course it's JD's fault. Yeah. Okay. We've got another question about our strikers from John Dodds. Hi, John Dodds. He says, "We are far from convincing up front time to play two up top perhaps." No. No, no. No, no. Let me just do the caveat and finish. He says, "I'd like to see Gail and Bamford or Gail and Wiccan." What do you guys think about that? 442 is dead. I've been trying to tell people this for about four years. Now, it was quite fun to watch Palace play an old-fashioned 442 against Charlton, which I effectively did to a certain extent. It was kind of like a nice throwback to 15 years ago, but no other teams do it now. Who's up top? Is that Gail with Campbell and Gail, wasn't it? Yeah, effectively for a match to match, and it looked great at times at times. It was kind of like a team that didn't really remember how to play 442 anymore. I mean, you would just end up giving up too much in midfield, and that's why no teams do it now. Like, you know, Premier League level, no one other than teams that end up massively under performing or going down end up playing two up top. It would be fun to watch for a few weeks. And then, once we started getting done 3 and 4, Neil, we'd probably get bored of it quite quickly, I think. So, not for me. It's not going to happen. It's not going to happen. I agree with everything Street said. Good. OK. Well, that's going to make me feel short. He's really clever. He's going to make for a short podcast. You know, he'll just do that. That's some... Oh, you've written up. No, he knows about formations. When somebody tells me a formation, I have to count the numbers of my hands, seriously. And now it's going to be a bit of a fourth hour, I'll go down to four. Well, you can't be worse than Garth Crook's, have you seen his team of the weeks recently? No, I'd like to. They've been back, yeah, one of the best. Two maybe, then six up front and stuff. They're both like, mate, you can't. The team of the week isn't just 11 great players. That's why he's never really going to management, though, guys. Well, maybe. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. Next question is from Jerry Clark. Oh, hi, Jerry. Hi, Jerry Clark. He says, "The one thing we've learnt, I'm guessing from the what for game, but maybe all season." He says, "We him or we us generally?" I think in general, like the general we, was the need for a striker with a physical presence who can play out front of his own. Well, I've got one of my. He's just injured. Wicom. Yeah, I think so. I think, yeah, I think we all agree with that as well. We've just been a bit, I mean, he's young, so it wouldn't have been one of the things that when you sign him, you'd be like, "Oh, he's had recurring injury problems of a certain type that will end up basically reoccurring again and again." He's having your recurring injury that's going to carry again and again. That's weird. So recurring injury that recurs? Yeah. Brilliant. Should we not have... That's the sortology that one. No, I can't. Should we not have... I'll told you, mate. She's got anology. That's the one for the end of this list. I know. I know. I've got anology. I've got that one. I've got that one. I've got that. Yeah, yeah. I'm... I wish Kevin was here. I wish Kevin was here. He understands me. Should we not have a backup physical striker? Oh, he did, but we decided to sell it. Well, exactly. That's my point. Was it sure I started to do that? We actually talk about this every 10 minutes and every time. I know. We know what we do. Because the more we talk about it, the more it comes out from listeners' questions, the more kind of drill at home, the fact that maybe it was really short-sighted to let Glen go. Because the way we play, we do need some not top. I mean, guys injured. We know. We know. And it was a mistake. But it's a mistake that was out of our hands before, shall we? Well, yeah. I'm sure he would have been not... I'm going to start that one again. I'm sure that he had some hand in deciding to go or not to go. I'm sure that he would have probably given him the option to go to Bournemouth or to stay if you really wanted to. Maybe he thought he was going to get regular, firstly football, which he's not. He will now that Wilson's been injured. That's true. I'm sure of that. Should we have been looking for... I'm drilling this Murray point. I apologize. Should we get... Should it be when Murray went? No, it was deadline day. Was it a day for the deadline day? Yeah. Should we... Yeah, okay. It was deadline day. Try to get to the end of December. We'll see how your Bamford's and your Wickham's and your Gail's play. And if they aren't performing the way that we want them to, then I guarantee you will get somebody in the Chancellor's window. I mean, I thought that Bamford was a little bit of a risk from the start because you never know how forming the championship is going to translate to playing up front as one in the Premier League. And he's obviously only played in sort of fits and spurts so far anyway. He's only come on a couple of times as a sub. But even then I don't think he's been overly convincing. I mean, there's flashes from him and clearly don't score in the championship like he did last season if you're terrible footballer. But I mean, there's still going to be a huge betting period for him in the Premier League. And I'm still not taken by the rationale behind that signing in general. It's got nice hair though. Which is the main thing? It's got lovely hair. There we go. There you go. That's the level of insight you get on this part. Amazing. The next question is from Lewis Wilmot. Hi, Lewis. Hi, Lewis Wilmot. He says, "Is Kebai even better than we thought? Quality player, creative and defensive all at once. Plus, he has a nice beard." He's definitely better than I thought he was. But then again, I didn't really see him week in week out at Newcastle. You just see flashes on match the day or whatever TV show you're watching. And about the defence, we spoke about a little bit in the first half of the pod. His defensive play has been excellent. And especially as what I thought he was coming back. Do we think Streetless is the right position for him in the defensive? It's where he's always played and it seems to play like his biggest strength is an ability to play simple passes really, really effectively into fine little pockets of space. But also reading of the game. Yesterday was the exception actually because it's the first time that in a match this season, he's not made a single interception. Oh, wow. I didn't hear the most of it at some point. I think he's got the most tackle. He's all Europe. He's got the most tackle in the world. Tackles an intercept. I think enders might be making that up. He's got the most tackles and interceptions combined I think at the Premier League at the moment. So clearly the defensive side of his game has always been really excelling. Yesterday was a bit on the path for whatever reason. Maybe just because he was being targeted early on. But nothing had been fantastic so far. Other than yesterday I thought he was. Money well spent. Bearing in mind it was 12. I think so. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's nice. Daniel Schilling. Hi Daniel. Says, "Should Kibai be taken off set pieces though as they've been pretty poor? Why wasn't punch and let him take him?" Well, we had bread coming on the corner in the first half that I think... Oh, there's free Kibai. Yeah, Kibai. Yeah, so it's a difficult one, isn't it? Because if teams are as well organised as Watford are defensively then they're staying with them and they're supposed to be marking out set pieces. It's going to be very rare that you get the opportunity that even Brady got yesterday. I don't think his delivery was particularly awful. The problem is that when you're hoisting balls in from set pieces, you're effectively depending on a ridiculously brilliant ball or a mistake from the defence. There weren't really many defensive mistakes, sorry, yesterday from Watford. So I've been taking off now. We've got good options, don't we, for free kicks? We've got options. Yeah. In on the right, punch and left foot. Punch. Do I take a good free kick as well? Yeah. Do I take a good kick as well? Yeah. Do I take a good kick as well? Yeah. Do I take a good kick as well? Yeah. Do I take a good kick as well? We've got options. No, I don't think it's in. Punch did score a few last, isn't it? Yeah. He did score quite a few. Wasn't his ratio at 1.75% taken that he scored or something, wasn't it? Okay. Next question is from Team Slack 4. Hi. Team Slack 4. He says, "I eat all day." Says, "Did Pard you get out handsomeed by KK Flores?" Ooh. Is this the string of questions that we had last week about Damon Delaney's jawline? Yeah. So as we sit in there editing, I'm like, "No, we're not reading that." No, we're not reading that. No, we're not reading that. Well, we've got some weird fans, no, we're not reading that. We did ask Dave Moh who he thought the best I can play it was, though. What did he say? Well, everyone on the Pard agreed it was goodbye. We all agreed it was goodbye. Right. But he said that Dan, Scott, Dan fancy themselves a looker. So he gave him a nice look. He's a good looking guy though. That's fine. Anyway. And I was giving you the same incredulous look, then, then. I am there. Okay. Whatever. Pard's versus KK Flores then? Absolutely no idea. I don't really care, to be honest. But great question. Thank you. Good. Pard you, because he's a palace. Good answer. Next question comes from Joe Pard Seattlei. Oh, good. Good answer. Good answer. Good answer. Pard, yeah. I'll try. I asked you to send this question last week, and I forgot to read it out. It sent it in from Bali last week, but this week he's sending it in from New Zealand. Wow. So he gets a try. He's showing us this one. Joe says, "Is our success in the Premier League compromising our ability and heritage to bring in young players to the first team squad?" That's a good question. For the first time, there hasn't anyone been looking in outside of use in the cup. Interesting timing, actually, in that question, because we had two new players on the bench against Watford. Yeah, which was Luke Crow and Jake Gray, Defender and a right midfielder. We said before on the podium, it's difficult, isn't it? Actually, at this level to be given that many challenges to the others. Well, of course, because we've, you know, we've not had the investment historically in that sort of thing, that you'd perhaps need to produce Premier League-level academy graduates. Like you look at the teams that produce huge male players that come through the likes of Southampton. They've poured millions and millions and millions into the infrastructure and into the development of players and really sort of focusing on outside of things. And we've not really done that. And to do that, we'll take a slight shift in emphasis and also quite a big cash reserve. And, you know, Southampton had a billion areas prepared to put that money in. But everything that we now take in as a Premier League club goes out to Premier League footballers, who end up paying with it because wages too, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. It's all quite short-termist in the approach, which then isn't really conducive to investing in the academy and bringing through the sort of players could take some really sort of long-term, holistic here things. So I don't really see things changing massively in the short-term, particularly given the issues there are with getting a single training ground site, because obviously, I think the youth are currently training away from the main training ground, goals and beckon or something. And it would just take millions and millions of pounds to be poured into that sort of thing when we also want to see the stadium develop. So there's a lot to be done, isn't there? Or a lot of plans? There are. Yeah. And, you know, it's going to be difficult because I'm sure that the four in charge don't probably want to commit all of their money and sort of the future of their families and everything into sort of developing just the stadium and, you know, or sort of making sure the academy is up to a ridiculous level. They probably want it all to be sustainable, which I suppose you can understand to a certain extent. But I don't know, like, we saw yesterday, didn't we? That the penalty won by Wolfsarha. And it's nice as a panelist fan that's got this sort of, you know, real community feel to it and that we all grew up with because of how sort of ingrained it was in sort of South London culture, et cetera. It's nice to see those types of players come in and do well. So it would be nice to think that that level of investment might return that we could start to develop those sort of players again, even at a Premier League level, which is more difficult and is going to take more sort of intensive levels of investment. I mean, cut games then become a good opportunity, didn't they? Yeah. I mean, you know, it's a great question. But, you know, as we said at the beginning of the answer, we did have two youth players on the bench yesterday. It's not like we're not looking at the youth. I think a few more travelled as well with the squad. Yeah, you know, some that they are there. It's just a lot harder to get into the first team now than it ever was. And because of all the reasons that Andy mentioned. Yeah. It's, you know, it's those, that gap. That gap is getting bigger and bigger and bigger, you know. The party was, he has referenced it at times. So he isn't thinking about it, but like Andy said, it's not as easy as just clonking them in. Like it was back in the day for us. Of course. Yeah, when we were as bad as charmer the other night, when we were at mid-table championship side, you know, there were any number of academy graduates who just by virtue of being talented would have improved certain positions. Now when you're looking to displace, you know, James McArthur or Johanken Barr or Baku Isanya, what have you signed? Wow, man, it's not on the line. It's not on the line, it's not on the line, it's not on the line. Baku Sacco, I'm not saying that. Okay. It's making such a good point after that point, it's not. It's going to be more difficult, yeah. Okay. Especially at this place of man's city place from the palace town. Absolutely. Okay. The next question then is from Jesse Boyce. Hi, Jesse. Hey, Jesse. Hey, Jesse. Would you say congrats to him for, well, he didn't give birth. Did he? Nice. Wow. There's water, old miles of men are giving birth. What's going on? Oh, he signed you as well. You know what? Next thing we tell we're in the top six of the Premier League. Oh, that one. That one. Yeah, congratulations to Jesse. Yeah. On the birth is second son, Sonny. Sonny. Sonny Boyce. Congratulations. Congratulations. So his question is, what is the bigger news story? Palace win nine out of 12 Premier League away games on the part two. Oh man, giving birth. Oh man, giving birth. Or, Hanieland getting the train home from Palace. Yeah, that was a great picture. Oh, for the total game in the cup. Very good. Fantastic. I've got a new song from him as well. He's big, he's hard. He's got a nicely card. Hanieland. That's very good. That's very good. That's very good. That's great. I love how nonchalantly he was just sitting there. Well, he sort of had a good grin on this face, didn't he? He just answered the sort of court hero status of Hanieland, doesn't he? Yeah. And of course he played very well. And in fact, that leads us into our next question, which was from Graham Mackay. He says, was that the best performance by Hanieland in a Palace shirt? It's the best I've seen. Definitely. Definitely. That swam to go on the end of last season, sort of springs to mind as well. He's, as I say, he's coming quite a few times and not letting anyone down. Against Spurs, I thought he was very good the other week. I'd say, yeah, probably his best one did come in the Watford Kingdom. Hmm. We had a couple of questions on this and they're from Lee John Hughes. Hi Lee. And James at Follow the Palace. Hi James. And they both sort of say, what now for the defence? If Delaney is fit for West Brom, is he back in or is it Hanieland? What do we do? Have you seen the first part? We haven't. Sorry. I got up with the first part. So you know what do we do? You know what? You guys are part of you now. So what would you do? I'll go straight on the West then. I ask Keith. I ask Keith. That's what I do. Okay. Keith, what shall I do? Keith, what shall I do? Don't ask me. I don't know. I've got three great centre backs. I would probably go with Dan and Delaney. Okay. And I'd leave Hanieland to come in and rescue us. Just because of Daymo and Dan's partnership. I think so. I think that's what I do. I might be wrong, but that's what I do. I believe me. That's fine. Straight. I'll go with Mary Appar and Kelly just to check her out. Or Luke Crow. Yeah. Okay. He's young, he's good, he plays for Crystal Palace. Something like that. Yeah. Moving on. Moving on. Moving on. The next question is from Will Hamilton. I will, I will. He says, "What was worse? Yala's first minute shot against Watford that went on for a throw-on." Yeah, I remember that. Or the policing on Wednesday night against Yalton. Yala, definitely. Both his direction. This is hyphen. It's tasty to see each other. It wasn't the best from Yala, but... He had no idea, didn't he? Yeah, we talked about him in the first part. He's such an asset, because he just scares people. He just scares defenders. That's what he does. It's a good scene back on the wing, rather than up front. It's not his position, is it? No. Not at all, so I'll just go hiccups. I don't like hiccups. That's okay. No one does. Who does? But you know, when you have hiccups, you never remember when they stop. Can you? Only when they stop. Or when they stop. Only when they stop. Yeah. Weird, isn't it? Anyway. Another wing for the first time in two games already looked, like, had more involvement, didn't he? The end product wasn't brilliant, but whenever is it with Yannick? Yeah, Frank could be a great thing with him is that... What about for his corn hat tricks, isn't it? He does pin back the fallback, either. The one of the main assets that he will occasionally have is, you know, discourage that fallback from going and trying to overlap with his winger, because all these things to himself is, you know, I can't let Yala in. Not Yala. Yala. Yala. Sorry. Yala in behind. So, even when he's not having a particularly great game, and I thought it was okay, yes. I don't think he was brilliant, but I thought it was okay. They all understood too. They also highlighted Yala. Balasses. Yeah. Defensive. We're talking about Wilf and the first one. Balasses. Balasses. Yannick. Balasses. Defensive work, and he was getting back to cover the... It was Neil right back. So, clearly, again, like, he's... We're talking about Wilf's defensive work. We know we'll get that from Balasses, but we'll talk about the wingers at Palace. They have to be able to do that. They are now. Well, they have to, because you have right and left backs through a fence, essentially, also wingers as well. So, all those four players, two on either side, have got to be able to do both things, you know. Fourbacks, these days aren't really... Fourbacks anymore. They're all wingbacks, aren't they? They're all wingbacks. It's like going back to the 50s. Yeah. They're like wingbacks. But then again, but you're two wingers. Then, they're also got to have that ability to... Which is why... Which... Zahar, Balasses have learned over the last sort of 12, 20 months that they need to do that. And we've mentioned about both of them in this pod, that they are getting better and better. And, you know, as the game is moving on, I think, you know, those... Those four positions are all very interchangeable, very interchangeable. And, for instance, last pod, Balasses signed a new three and a half year deal. Which we all know means absolutely nothing in this day and age, because of what it's just worth. It's not worth it. Well, they mean... Because it's great, yeah, but... It means that... But then, when Tottenham come in and got off the 30 million from him in January, it'll go. What does it mean? That's 30 million... No, it means that clubs will have to offer more. It doesn't mean... I won't be cynical then about people signing contracts. Because they always keep them, don't they? No, obviously... No, it's not about that. It's about... It raises their price in the market for clubs. And you'd be having a 30 million from Balasses, wouldn't you? Well, yeah, I'll be happy with 25 million. Okay. Well, they're not giving it to us, though, are they? No. But you know what I mean, though. I know. I imagine not being put in charge of that much, my friend. Just milk that away he's guaranteed. Over down the record shot, mate. It's about to be a jam. Okay. Because there's a lot of it I haven't got yet. John Dodd. So I think... The question earlier, didn't he? John... Donate in the questions. Says, "When is Yala going to score from outside the box?" Ooh. Never? A week on Thursday. In training. Ah, prove me wrong. How do you score from outside the box, Balasses? I don't believe so. No. I'll put someone I'll probably now write in and tell us. He must have done at some point. I don't. His first goal was a lob against Ipswich. Do you remember? Good question. No. We've got no thoughts on that. No thoughts on this right now. Okay. Okay. Carl Mortimer. Hi, Carl. Hi, Carl. Says, "Does anyone feel the same as me?" Yes. Yeah. That's exactly how I feel. Really? Yeah. Definitely. So, actually, we were right to be quite so. No, we are. No, we are. Get to 40 points in there. To 40 points. In fact, we're a third of our way there. We're at 36 points as well. Really? Yeah. So, we're not far off safety. No. We're a third of our way there. Yeah. We're at 36 points as well. Really? Yeah. So, we're a third of our way in reality. So, we're not far off safety. No, absolutely. I think any safe football fan, any same Palace fan, you're looking at that 40 points. We're currently 50 to 1 with a lot of bookies to be relegated. So, I am piling on. Just as an insurance policy. When we beat Chelsea, I got a little bit carried away and dipped into my betting account. I think that come the 1st of October, Palace would be top of the Premier League. So, yeah, a couple of liquid on that. It's not going to be carried away. It's not going to happen, is it? No, it's going to happen. It's a 28. It's a two days time, but we haven't got any games. So, all you need is the top top five. You need the top five. Yeah, you need the top five. One of whom is owned by an oligarch. Any other of whom is owned by Qatar to all go into administration. And then you're quitting? In the next 40 hours. Oh, I love people a bit. Okay. That may have been a waste. Big, wide, big news story, though. I made a bit of money. I think it was bigger than water in Mars. Okay. Graham Mackay, again, we should send people to ask questions. It's a good question. It's a good question. It says, "What was up with the B thing playing the drum? What did you say to that?" That was a bit weird. I don't know if you saw that on TV because, obviously, you two weren't out of the match. I might mention it once or twice. No, you haven't. You came up like a lot of Palace fans who got into the ground early on Sunday to late. A little bit of an atmosphere. And he was just standing there like trying to sort of go the Palace fans. And at one point, he just sits on the turf with his arm folded, just going, "Come with it. Let's have it." And then Palace fans carried on singing. There's a hornet. There's a hornet. There's a hornet. And he then went off and obviously the football match started because we weren't there just to go animal hornet things, character hornet even. And then he came back as the match had started just banging a drum. Brilliant. Which made no sense itself. That sounds great. It sounds great. So it was kind of divided between Palace fans who decided that they wanted to chat about how embarrassing it was. And then the rest of us here would just go, "What is going on?" Well, Graham has a second part of the game. Well, you have an eagle dressed in a skirt. You've not got a drum, though. Has he? Speaking of what, did you hear that a chart on fan tried to punch Kayla? Really? Yeah. Did not hear that. Did he hear that? Oh, my word. That's terrible. It's not very nice, is it? No, it's not very nice. The most recent Kayla. Yeah, the most recent. There's only ever been one. Stop it. So I came and stopped here. The children were listening. At least concludes this week's episode of Morning Ignatius. Graham's got a second part of the question which is about the hornet with the drum. Which says, "Can we all agree Pete the eagle would take him easily?" Absolutely. He definitely tended to sting out of this situation. Oh. Well, he's done that. Oh, yes, I am. I've been waiting for the last 45 minutes to get that in. OK. So he's like, "I came today." There's another mascot or bass question from Sam Whiting. Hi, Sam. Interesting one. It says, "Is there any other team in English football that has an animal on their badge that isn't their nickname? Because Watford have got a moose on their badge." Do you see that? I see. Yeah. I just thought it was a really confused hornet. It's a moose. It's definitely looks like a moose with the big... I mean, antlery things. Antlery things. Antlery things. Oh, I've actually got a black cat on their badge. Oh, they've got a lion? They might have a lion or something like that. You know, we should... It may be next week for that one of the questions before and then we'll get it all... Well, actually, why don't we throw that one open to listeners. If any listeners can let us know. Yeah, of course. We'll throw it open. Let's just put it out there. That's an interesting one, no. It's very, very interesting. I mean, of course, I could just go on Google the next week and do it myself. Well, they've got two different animals. Well, no, so like an animal on their badge, but then that's not their name. The black cats. Yeah, the black cats are the girls. The black cats are the recent ones. The villa are like the villains, but like the thing on there is a little lion. It's a lion, but they are called the lions sometimes. They... By whom ever? I don't remember that one. No one has ever called us the villa the lion. I feel like it's one of their unknowns. Now someone's going to look at the Wikipedia. They're going to look at the Wikipedia. Well, they did it in 1851 when they first were on the football league. Interesting question, isn't it? Yeah. Very, very good question. One of the best of the day, actually. Chelsea. Here we go. The blues. Yeah. Also have a lion. They've definitely been called the lions at some point, Chelsea. Chelsea Lions. Chelsea Lions, yeah. Yeah. Okay. A good question, though, and listen, let us know. Yeah, if there are any random ones. If they called it, there's a nickname like Eagles or whatever, but there's not, but we have a dock on there. What? Like a greyhound. What is really interesting because they've always been the hornets, to my knowledge. Well, they've got a hornet. Bangs are drummed. But yet, they've got a moose. It's very random thing to have on their badge. A moose is really random, because you don't find any moose in Buckingham, should you? Moose is me. I'm going to say it's me. I'm going to say it's me. I'm going to say moose. Right. There's a moose in the moose. Where's that moose? And that hits? Oh, God. Okay. All I'm saying is, don't even be cheating for the first time today in a delay in a drop. It's going to be like this every week. It's now, right now, I'm wondering what they've done with their lives. This is what he should be like. This is what he's usually like. Okay. Last couple of questions then for this part. First one's from Tony Stewart. I'm Tony. I'm Tony. He says... He says... Tony. Tony says, that was a pretty ugly win from Palace on Sunday, which we agreed in part one. What's the ugliest Palace win you've ever seen? Ooh. Damn. We mentioned it last week, didn't we? Or not last week, but in between last week and this week? It is week. Is it under the floodlights? It was under the floodlights. I bet it was. When we beat Barnsley, won the high end. Do you remember that match? Oh, yeah. Where we all did the cheer. We all did the crystal. We joined in the crystal. But it was also one of the worst matches I've ever seen. There's a lot of pictures of that in the day. I was looking through some photographs of a computer and saw it. It was... I wish somebody just told me how bad I looked. It was for charity. It was for charity. I don't care. It was for charity. Bloody charity. And I do. I'm care a lot. I give money to all sorts of charges. You look great. Yeah. I know, I know, I do. You look fantastic. We all did. We all looked fantastic. No, we looked great. And we all had moves. But that was a bad match. That was a bad match. That was a bad match. We did. We were scanners, Gordon, the last minute. He did, yeah. Also, the Peter Taylor years, generally. Yeah. Every time we won a match on the beat, I say, I think that happened twice. All of them were bad. Pretty bad, I don't know. Yeah. I can't. They were so bad that I can't actually remember anything. I don't mean either. No. No. Okay. I'm sorry. There were some quite hard thought ones under Pugliss as well. I suppose they were a little bit ugly at times. West Ham. If you look at Premier League one recently, the West Ham game where they battered us at times in that match. And we won one nil, don't we? We won one nil. Yeah. And then Ravel Morrison lost his head at kickoff and tried to punch Joel Ward. He did, yeah. Yeah, he did. We don't... I haven't said that. We don't really... We're not going to see many ugly wins. But... Or are we under Pargy with the way we play? We're apart from one Sunday. Apart from one Sunday. Yeah. But my point is maybe it was a bit of an anomaly in that... No, no. Because the way we play... Yeah. Either we're either going to have open games where we're going to get smashed or smash someone. We are going to get smashed at some point. We all know that, don't we? We are going to get absolutely thumped by somebody. I think we are. Yeah. But that's... I'm happy about that. Because I also know we're going to thump somebody else. Yeah, exactly. And it's not going to drag us down into the... No. No. I think that kind of wraps up our question. And we did have one question from Rich Green. All right. Which is on your point a minute, Guy Street. It's just the day my pod was brilliant last week, which is lovely. And thank you to everyone for their kind comments about the pod with Damien. I think we're cool with me. He was an excellent guest. He was brilliant. Which current player would you invite on next? We don't want to make sure... Get out there. We're not going to have players on every week. It's not going to become a regular thing. So I'm going to say that. And then I just thought... Think of the logistics. I love that. So we'd run out by week 25. Yeah. We'd run out by week 25. Yeah. Week 25 would be on to like the person who holds the water bottles for the under-elevens. And... It's actually me. (Laughter) But anyway, thank you to everyone for their kind comments on that pod. Well, if we were going to get another player on that. So, yeah. I think it'd be great at Hangarland. Yeah. That's good. Yeah, definitely. Public transport links around here are exceptional. So you don't have no trouble getting there. Yeah. I think it'd actually check if I can. He's big. Literally five minutes ago. I've forgotten it already, okay? He's big. He's hard. He has nice to go on. Yeah. He's so great. He's a bit of a character. He seems like he would be quite good actually. You see, I don't use the ice card at the moment because you can use contactless. Me too. I don't have a nice to card. Me neither. He does. Maybe you should tell him maybe he doesn't need to get a nice to go on. Yeah. Well, mine got stolen a few months ago. Did it really? Someone took all the money off it. So I'd be a bird. So I don't want to use it anymore. This will end up in a really long time if we incorporate these bits into the game. Yeah. Good. Let's wrap up part two there. Thank you listeners for your great questions as usual. In part three, we're going to look forward to Palace's next game, which is against West Brom and Tony Poulis. Boo. So join us in part three. Hello listeners and welcome back to part three of the five-year plan podcast. Great. Part three. Part one, fifty-one. What? Five-one. That's not more than a hundred and fifty. It is. The one less than a hundred and fifty-two. Correct. Very informative. We are sponsored by Vector Printing. I'm going to go with them first for this one. For all your printing and embroidery needs, go to Vector.co.uk and that's Vector with us. Okay. And we're also sponsored by JC Innovation and Strategy, the global research and brand consultancy from South London. Visit JC-IS.com. Andy. More iconic than Johan Cruyff. Okay. Very good. That's good. And this might more factor than I would say. Okay. Good. Okay. So Palace's next game is Home to West Brom. I saw someone put on Twitter or Facebook recently. This is the real test or the next couple of weeks. We've got West Brom at home, West Ham at home. We've come through that tough run against Chelsea, City and Spurs. Done okay. Got three points. One at Watford in ugly win. This is now traditionally where Palace would throw it away and lose two home games and must be in. But is it now really the chance for Palace to kick on and prove actually? This is a good team and can really solidify a top whatever finish. Well, I think West Brom have been over performing. And I think that because someone far better than former who wrote it on the internet. I've read a book that said they are scoring an uncharacteristically high number of goals from their first shot on target. And also their second shot on target. There's loads of people who are saying it's unsustainable. And also it's West Ham. So of course they're going to decide it's cheap eventually. But we'll come on to them next week. Pius is the one I'm a bit worried about because he's going to set up his team in the exact way that we know they'll be set up. And I just foresee us struggling to break them down a little bit in the same way that we did that time. We did that time against Watford. And he's very clever Pius. We've got to give him that. But we got burned so badly last season in that game of Pius. And Pardu admitted after that. Oh, I got it totally wrong. Well, you know what? But the thing, the difference with this season is that last season Pius was playing pretty much, he was playing against the Pius side. He was pretty much the Pius team. He was now a Pius V. Pius. Pius V. Pius. Pius V. Pius. But this is more. This was very crazy. It was a sad film. I was kind of saying this while at this time. Oh, you should see it. It was really great anyway. I was talking about the French toast. But yeah, no, the Pius V. Pius bit. Now it's Pius against Pardu. And there's very little of the old Pius left in the palace at the moment. So it'll be an interesting game. Do you think Pius will be knowing what we know about West Brom? And knowing what we know from last season when there'd be us two new sellers? And Pardu admitted that he got it wrong. How do we expect Pius to go for it? If they do go open early doors, will they find it frustrating? Will they get caught on the break? Or will we see pallets maybe like did against Watford? There's been a bit more compact. I think they'll be quite nervous because we've not got a great home record. Exactly. Everyone's talking about how great we are away from always, you know, one nine, the last 12 away from home. And there's an article in the evening to stand up today, which I didn't actually, I was looking over suddenly shoulder. Just talking about palace need to get their home form. It's all about the home form. So there's that pressure on the team. Plus it's pureless. It's going to be really hard. I don't know. I don't know what's going to happen. Because I don't know anything about football. But I'm sure Street will tell us what's going to happen. You're only statistic? No, no West Brom. Well, I mean, they've started the season reasonably well, haven't they? I mean, they're currently leading against Davidson. Obviously, we don't know whether or not that's going to be the final result. But they're close to the end now. And they've started in a fairly decent manner. It's interesting we talk about the home form. There've been various people who've been saying that we've even Watford haven't been scoring or doing quite as brilliantly at home at Vicard's Road. It's because they play on a smaller pitch there than they do when they occasionally go to the likes of your Sunderland or your teams with the wide open spaces. And you do sometimes wonder whether a team that's set up like Palisade to play on the break and to really use the flanks and to use pace in a really direct manner are better suited to the slightly wider pitches in the Premier League. Which you do occasionally get some of the newer grounds like some Mary's like the stadium of light and so forth. Rather than so as part, which is a little bit more competitive. But you have to adapt to that at some point. And you can't just keep using that as an excuse. Surely you've got to... Well then what am I going to be able to play on? My superficial analysis will go out the window. Yeah, they lost your pod as well. But that's basketball analysis anyway. So this is really matter what you say because it's not going to come true. Well there we go. Well that's a fair point. But how do you balance deal with it? We can only switch on and set a piece. I mean the really frustrating thing about that match last season was the fact that Dawson wasn't that he scored. I think earlier it was Morrison James Morrison. The header. Yeah. Yes. As I say definitely Dawson. So they scored pretty early on in the night from a set piece. And they're always going to be well drilled at set pieces. And that's kind of how a Pulitzer team is generally set up. So if we're not switched on from those sort of opportunities it could be one of those where it becomes a very frustrating afternoon. Like they will be compact. They won't allow a lot of space in front of the back four. We're going to have to try and make sure that the wing has really switched on because that's about the only way we're going to get a lot of mileage out of them. It might be another ugly win. I'm sure it could be another one for your type of form. Yeah. Unless we get an early goal in which case, you know, obviously then invites them to have to come on to us a little bit more and hopefully leave a bit of space to exploit. I can see it being an incredibly terse and tight game. Oh nice. Who would we play up front? Do you think Gail should we get it? Intense and tight game, sorry. What do you say? It's worse. It's worse to be Gail, isn't it? I assume assuming Wickham is not fit. Assuming Wickham is not fit. Because your only other options are Gail, Campbell or Bamford. I don't know if you have Campbell or Bamford. I don't think Blassy should be your friend. I think we definitely need his pace on the wings. I think that was proven. Yeah. That's proven. I don't like Blassy in front. Bamford hasn't been proven yet. I mean, we don't know. I mean, we don't really know Bamford yet. Not what you're seeing. He doesn't look like you're... It's quite a tall head, but it doesn't look like you're sort of physical man on top to play against that West Brom. No, we've not got one now, have we? We don't have one. If your choice is Gail or Bamford, then you'd probably go with Gail because he's got a little bit more. When he sort of knows the palace way, a little bit better. I guess he's more in tune with the rest of the team than maybe Bamford is. I don't know. Tough one. It is a tough one. Maybe we need somebody. We need somebody. We can't pay up no strikes at all. Do you remember when we were back in the under heart, we played someone at home, Swansea home, and Calvin Andrew was up front, and then someone got sent off, and Andrew went to left mid, and we played 4-5-0. Sorry, I just count that. It was brilliant. They kept knocking the ball at the top, and they were like, what the heck? Why are you ducking it long? We were coming on way. We've come on on way since that was the poll, aren't we? It was fine enough. We're still improving on Calvin Andrew being out front. Oh, Calvin. Here we have, coming on way. Well, I mean, do all these colors change their way? We said before we don't go 4-4-2, we don't. Well, no, absolutely. You don't go 4-4-2 against a periodist team. I just think it would be a bit of a silly thing to do. Maybe you know, maybe you do persist in such a physical game as you know it's going to be. Maybe you do persist with one of Saka or Balassia front. I know we say we don't like it, but they will offer more of a physical threat through the meal than a Bamford or a Gail will. It's an option which I think will probably be considered. And they're thrown out. Saka is interesting. He's very physical, very, very strong. Sorry, I'd forgotten about Saka stupidly, but yeah, maybe you go with him over Gail. That would be interesting. Yeah, no, no, no. Because certainly hold the ball up. And he's got elbow signal. He's got any use of them. He's got, he's an interesting one, Saka, isn't he? I mean, he's probably not a championship player like the first player in the first quarter. And he's not looking a bit silly within minutes. I quite like him. You know, he's still getting used to, I think the pace at this level, particularly the sort of little amount of time that he'll get when he receives them all. Like even now, I think he's a bit surprised by quite how quickly men are on him. I think he's probably not a championship player like the first player in the first quarter. And he's not looking a bit silly within minutes. I quite like him. He's still getting used to, I think the pace at this level, particularly the sort of little amount of time that he'll get when he receives them all. But yeah, you know, I think he's done quite well whenever he's played for us. I think it'd be the half of these notch, actually, through the middle of the game. It's a very interesting show. It's a very interesting show. And are we going to go with Delaney in the back, if fit over Hangaland? I think Delaney's new friend Hangaland. I think Delaney's got more of a physical... I think he's more of a fighter, I think, than Hangaland. Interesting, interesting. I wouldn't say it's going to be a fighting game, but you know, I don't know. I think I feel more comfortable with Delaney than Anglan. As much as Anglan was immense against Watford. It's going to be a tough game in it. It's going to be... Especially because, you know, if their engineer works with Hangaland, you'd be fucked. It's a national time. Very true. And it's an early kick-off, as well, isn't it? So say it'd be in double trouble. Why have they chosen Palace West problems? It's going to be... It's going to be sad, isn't it, on BT Sport. I don't think it's going to be one... It's not going to be a game prime for TV, I don't think. I don't think so. I don't think so. Maybe I'm surprised they're showing it, but what? It'd be the one time, though, that the match is worse than Michael Allen's commentary on BT Sport. Yeah, really. I haven't heard Michael Allen's commentary. Apparently it's appalling. It's pretty bad. Is it really bad? Yeah. Anyway, let's wrap up the board there. Cheups, thanks for joining. Enders thanks for being back. Welcome back. Thanks for inviting me back. Thanks for inviting me back. And listeners, thank you for your questions in part two. Join us next week. After the West Brom game. And we will see you again soon. Bye. Bye. Bye.
