Finishing Strong

Life is more like a marathon than a sprint. It is possible to start really well, but then end badly.

King Solomon started really well. He was the son of the great King David and devoted to God. God blessed him with great wisdom, favour and wealth and gave him the privilege of building the first temple.

But Solomon began to compromise. He married women from other nations and embraced their gods. He ended badly.

Ironically, Solomon wrote the proverb "catch the little foxes that can ruin the vineyard". His "little foxes" certainly ruined his - and we would be wise to learn from his tragic example. We would be wise to keep God's rule and righteousness as our priority and to keep on pressing on - because God has a glorious future for us!
