The Gospel can sound "too good to be true". Instead of US needing to make our way to God, GOD has come to us in Jesus. Instead of US having to keep a set of rules to be declared righteous, GOD declares us righteous through our faith in Jesus. And instead of US trying to make peace with God, GOD reconciles us to himself when we believe in Jesus!

Since the birth of the church, people have tried to add things to the Gospel. Their message is "We need Jesus PLUS ..." - we must also perform rituals, follow traditions, obey rules, gain knowledge, etc.

But the Bible declares the death and resurrection of Jesus to be a complete work of redemption - we need Jesus plus NOTHING! So instead of engaging all manner of religious pursuits, let's rather pursue Jesus himself, growing in relationship with him and in obedience to him. HE is what we really need!
