The Earlier the Better
Finding labourers one morning, a landowner agreed to pay them a standard rate and put them to work in his vineyard. Later in the day, he told others he would pay them whatever was right. He did the same again at what we'd understand to be 5pm. Shortly after getting to work, those last men were paid and they received a silver coin. That was good for an hour's work. The other workers thought that they'd receive more and when they didn't get it, but were also paid one silver coin, they were not thrilled and they complained. The landowner said, "Is your eye evil because I am good?" Matthew 20, 15. Jesus began the parable by saying that this is what the kingdom of God is like. Whether you get there early or late, the gift for coming to faith in Christ is salvation. Now, of course, the earlier you get there, the better, but get there. God wants you to have eternal life.
