This week Eoin speaks with Chris Ruden (@chrisruden). Chris is a Type 1 Diabetic and also describes himself as ‘limb different’ - he was born with only two fingers on his left hand and a shorter left arm, he now lives with a prosthetic arm. Despite this, Chris is a motivational speaker, entrepreneur, personal trainer, co-owner of NRG foods, he starred in NBC’s Titan Games with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, he is an elite powerlifter and everything in between! Chris epitomises ‘Redefining Diabetes’.


Similarly to Eoin, Chris was also diagnosed at the age of 19 and describes his diagnosis as the ‘catalyst’ to how he has led his life since then. He aims to defuse stereotypical misconceptions surrounding the condition by living a massively active, successful and meaningful life.


Eoin and Chris share a common fascination in the importance of a positive mindset - not just with Diabetes, but in every aspect of your life. In this episode they dive deep into how to stay positive, how to identify a negative situation and what small, yet practical steps you can make to ensure you’re always confident in your ability to overcome any struggle.
