Hello, this is Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer. So we're into tower. We are ready for take-off. [MUSIC PLAYING] Hey, it's Amy from DVC Clubhouse. Hey, Clubbers, it's Scott from DVC Clubhouse. Hey, it's Kathleen from DVC Clubhouse. Welcome aboard, it's Phil from DVC Clubhouse. [MUSIC PLAYING] Hey, everyone, and welcome back to another episode of the debrief podcast brought to you by DVC Clubhouse. This is Amy. And I'm joined by Phil, Kathleen, and Scott. How's it going, guys? Hey, guys. Hi, guys. Welcome aboard, guys. So our listeners can probably tell that I'm a little bit of horse. I got a little laryngitis after Clubhouse weekend. It started after karaoke night, and it just got progressively worse after lots of laughter. Well, I mean, based on the photo I saw of you at karaoke night, you were reaching for the stars there where you get most high notes. [LAUGHTER] I don't know if you could say hitting the high notes. I was doing something to the high notes. And as you can tell, it's reflected in my voice. I don't think my technique was quite on point, but I left Clubhouse weekend sounding like this. So you know you had a good time when you can't talk afterwards. Phil, did you see the video of Amy and Scott? No, I don't think I did see that one. How did I miss that? I posted it. I'll have to go back and look. There were so many different photos being posted in videos and live feeds that I lost track there at some point. Yeah, there were a lot of people posting throughout the weekend, so I could imagine it was hard to keep up with everything. But yeah, Scott and I sang "Love Shack." We did a duet. It was a big hit. I think everyone loved it, so-- I think it went pretty good. I didn't know you posted it, though. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I did. I'll have to go back and look. Yeah, it was a big hit. Yeah, that was fun. It's funny. Let's just look them back to talk quickly about Clubhouse weekend. It was this past weekend. Everyone loves the karaoke. Karaoke is always a big hit. And you know, Tom McPherson wrote it in either the Clubhouse weekend chat that we had going or somewhere on the page. But there's a lot of talent in the group. A lot of people getting up and singing and sounding look really good. So it was fun, and everyone gets into it. And it's always fun when people get into it. So karaoke seems to be the most-- Yeah, it's a hit. It is a big hit. So that will be repeated well into the future is what you're telling me. This is going to become a staple of Clubhouse weekend. Yeah, well, we did it last year. And it was a big hit, which is why we did it again this year. And it was as big of a hit this year. So it's currently on the plan for next year. Well, two years in a row, now it's become a tradition like your picture in front of the castle, which didn't happen just once. Now it's happened twice. So technically, it's a tradition now. It's happened every year. It has happened every year, Phil. Just like karaoke has happened every year. But it was fun. I mean, it was a fun weekend. We had a lot of people come that were-- did not come to Clubhouse weekend last year. So we saw a lot of new faces. I mean, some were familiar faces from the group. But some were some people that aren't all that active on the group, whose name I see when they like something. But they don't really post. But we had a bunch of people come. And it was really nice meeting the people that we see in the group in person. And so we kicked off the weekend doing a monorail crawl. We had to go outside at the Polynesian first to the Tiki Terrace, because Tambu Lounge was pretty crowded. But Scott did a good job of going inside and finding us, getting us the two high top tables at Tambu so that we could go up there. I was going to say Tambu seats like 14 people on a really good day. So it doesn't take much for it to get crowded. We took them all. Yeah, we did. And so we got some drinks. Some people got some food. And then we headed over to the Enchanted Rose at Grand Floridian and Phil. The funniest part about this was we're sitting at Tambu Lounge. And I go into Facebook, or somebody went onto Facebook and saw that the Enchanted Rose, which was our schedule to next stop, had just been evacuated. So we were like, well, why don't we-- we left a couple of minutes early, me and Kathleen and Scott and Emily came with us because we wanted to go over there and scope it out and see, is it open? What are we going to do? And that place is always so crowded and can have a line down the hallway. Well, we must have caught them right after they opened up because they not only were able to see dust pretty quickly after we arrived, they essentially gave us the entire library room. That's like to the left of the room that the bar is in. And they basically told us, as people show up, if you want to pull chairs over, you can. It was amazing. So I mean, they were-- They were very nice. Yeah, they were so accommodating to us at Enchanted Rose. And that was so fun. Why did they get evacuated? Do you guys know why that was evacuated? I don't know. No idea. Must have been the phone call I made. Yeah, no, that's what I joked at Tambu. I was like, guys, don't tell anyone. But I actually called that in so that we couldn't get the entire bar to ourselves. Perfect. And so then we had it over to Stakehouse 71. And they have those side rooms off of the bar area. And by that time, we had grown to like 25, at least 25 people. Yeah, we have one. What was your final count? Because I know you were struggling with that before the weekend for how many we're going to show up. Did you end up getting a final count for how many different people ended up being there? Yeah, I think it was like 44 is what I counted if you included. Well, actually, I think 48 if you include kids. Have you had a good idea for next year, Scott, about when you walk in, about signing? Oh, like a-- You're like a guest book. Like a guest book. Yeah. Yeah, that is a good idea. That is a good idea. To keep that for years and years. And then all the pictures that we do, to eventually do like a scrapbooking thing, where we can look back and see clubbers over the years. And I think that would be a good idea. I think next year, we might-- we should probably do something like that. Just so we can keep track and look back on who came and whatnot. Weddings, Funeroles, and Clubhouse Weekend. That's when you get to sign the guest book. Yeah, yeah, exactly. But then we watched the fireworks from Tom and Pam's two bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower. And those are awesome because they've got the two balconies. I mean, that's-- I want to go. We were able to-- I'm sorry, but could we back up to Steakhouse 71? I just wanted to do a quick shout out to our server, John. I believe because we did have probably-- would you say how many people at Steakhouse 71, about 25? 25. And we-- I ended up-- I moved so much furniture. We were in just a huge circle. And he just eventually walked up, shaking his head. And he said, you guys couldn't get a reservation anywhere. [LAUGHTER] He's like, I'm only one person, guys, but only one person. He let us know, right from the very beginning. The service is probably going to suck. I'm only one person. But the expectation's reasonable, I like it. He did a great job, though, so I really wanted to give a little shout out to John at Steakhouse 71. He really did do a great job. Despite the fact that he kept telling us that it was a lot of work, and he was by himself, he actually was really efficient, and nobody waited for anything. It was pretty amazing. The nicest way anyone's ever said to you, this tip had better be worth it. Well, they included gratuity everywhere we went. So yeah, so then we watched the fireworks. And that was great, because, like I said, they have those two balconies. And so we were able to have the group-- we kind of split in half, and everyone was able to watch. It was the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party fireworks, which are fun. So that was a fun way to kick off the weekend. The next day was like a little bit of a bummer, because it poured rain on and off all throughout the day at Animal Kingdom. And so that day kind of fizzled out quickly. Like we started-- we met at the tree, took some photos. We went over to Restorantosaurus and sat down there. We got a drink from Christine, who's a member of the DVC Clubhouse now. She's a bartender. And then we went over to Nomad Lounge. But that is kind of where that day ended, because it was pouring, and people were hot. And I think people just wanted to go and rest before-- rest their vocal cords before karaoke. And I just have to give a shout out to Tom McPherson, who took the karaoke assignment very seriously. So when I was walking through Animal Kingdom after everyone kind of dispersed from Nomad Lounge, and I'm telling you, it must have felt like 105 degrees and 99% humidity. It was really unpleasant. And I see Tom, and he's walking with a hot beverage in his hand. And I said to him, Tom, are you drinking a hot beverage? That's a really bold choice for this weather. And he said, I'm drinking hot tea to get my voice ready for tonight. And it was a kidding. Yes. He was not kidding. And so he went and he sang a couple of Disney ballads. He sang a song from Dear Evan Hansen, the Broadway musical. He was really good. He did a great job. So karaoke was a hit. And then the next night, we had our party at the Grand Villa, which Kathleen and Scott so graciously rented and invited everyone to attend. And then we had Derek and Kerry from DVC resale market. They provided all of the food and drinks for everyone. So that was a really good time. And I just have to say, the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jumbo House, Grand Villa. Amazing. I was just going to say, how about that room? Amazing. It was perfect. I love the way that it was laid out. Everything. Phil, did you wish that you were in that tub with Scott? I may have commented something to that effect. I believe I saw that. There was a TV in there and everything. Oh, buddy, we wouldn't even have to leave. It was amazing. And then there was a telephone right by the toilet, which I'm not real sure why I'm so amazed by that. But-- Oh, there's a video. I'll be sending it to you, Phil. I can hardly wait. I actually texted Amy that night just looking at the huge crowd that was in the Grand Villa. She put up the live video, and I said that many people. It's just nightmare fuel for me. I would be huddled in a corner somewhere in the fetal position with that many people in that much noise. So my head's off to you guys. Well, Phil would be in the bathtub. Yeah, as you can say, you could have been in the bathtub, huddled in the fetal position. With the door locked. Well, I will tell you, people asked about you. You were missed by people, so they do wish you were there. A few people. I liked that there were 48 people that attended Club House weekend, and a few select individuals missed me. So thank you to whoever you are. [LAUGHTER] I don't know. I think a few is kind of pushing. It might have been a couple. I don't know. One of them was Scott. [LAUGHTER] Where's Phil? [LAUGHTER] Yeah, so that was a great time. And then we wrapped up the weekend by taking our picture in front of the castle, which was probably the hottest point of the entire weekend. It looked warm. I saw that photo. Yes, oh my gosh. There was sweat coming out of parts of my face that I didn't even know sweat could exit from. Way to paint a picture with words. You know, I'm good like that. [LAUGHTER] And then you know what I did that night? I stayed in the cabin at Fort Wilderness. I did sleep. Well, let me back up. I stayed at the Magic Kingdom once everyone kind of dispersed. Well, Kathleen, Scott, Jennifer, and Sean, and I had lunch at Tony's. And just want to let you know, Phil, that Scott ordered the chicken Caesar salad. How was it? The salad was great. The chicken. And no, absolutely not. That was exactly my reaction. The salad was fine, but the chicken was like-- I've had gummy bears with better consistency than that chicken. It was so dry. It was terrible. I regretted it. But you kept the cheese out of your lap, so you're one ahead of me. I will say, I did think of you when I picked up that cheese sauce. Way's like four pounds, doesn't it? But it's so good. It's so good. Well, I had to joke that Amy slept that night because I sent her a text message, what? Around 9 o'clock or so when you were at the Grand Villa. And 3 a.m. out of the blue, my phone goes off. I could rock getting out of bed to figure out what's going on. And it's Amy finally replying to me. Are they sleeping this weekend? I so badly want to back this recap up. Because there's so many things that got missed. So many things that got missed. There we go. And it's just one of them is the fact that that night was Sunday night was the party at the Grand Villa. It didn't end until Monday morning at 3 o'clock. When you got your text? Yes. Aren't you glad everyone was in your room? Everybody was in what, for a while, there was people in the-- and I'm just sitting in the living room. And I'm like, it's 3 o'clock in the morning. And that's my bed. The next thing I know, I've got chicken cut. Let's be thrown at me from across the living room. And I'm like, that's it. Everybody out. So it was so-- yeah, and then the next day, I just-- it was a fun time. It was a great time. There was a lot of explaining here with that. But I'll let Amy explain that when she-- Let the record show that neither Kathleen nor Amy can speak right now. Good times. Oh my gosh. Well, yeah, you know that you're up late when at 9 a.m. Don't spit your tea all over the place. When at 9 a.m. you look at your Apple watch and you've already gotten 6 out of 12 on your stand call. Overachievers. When I woke up, I went into the kitchen. I don't even know what I was doing. And Amy was in the kitchen in a nightgown. In a nightgown. That's what woke me up that morning, because all I heard was, hello. [LAUGHING] Because we all woke up feeling like we had a trunk nugget stuck in our throat. [LAUGHING] It was such a good time. [LAUGHING] I was standing in the kitchen at the sink, with chugging water, because I felt like there was some-- because Derek brought these popcorn nuggets. And I ate a lot of them. And I felt like there was one lunch. And mine's off again. So I was trying to remove it. But yeah. Can't take you guys anywhere. No, you cannot. We'll tell you about the chicken cut. I think the chicken cut looks later, though. Yeah. I'm really sad about the grandfella that we only had it for one night. I wish it was like two nights. So we can enjoy it more. Yeah, definitely. With about 40 less people. I would-- It was perfect for that. It really was. I was like, can we just sit for five minutes in the living room? Please. After everyone left, I'm like, can we just sit for five minutes? I just enjoy the living room just in three of us. [LAUGHING] And then I stayed the next night in a cabin, which I also felt the same way. Like, I wish that I had had more time, because I didn't get my cabin until-- I mean, by the time I got over from Magic Kingdom, it was about four. And I sought to get my cart. And then I immediately showered and went over and met Jennifer and Shawn at California Grill, because they were having dinner, and they so graciously invited me. And I just need to report back to everyone that Shawn loved the goat cheese ravioli. So another convert on the goat cheese ravioli, folks. But then I went back, and I was, at that point, just-- I got back to the room a little after eight, I guess. And I was done. So I watched some TV, and I was asleep by 10.30. But I really loved the cabin. I mean, I know that we're not going to get into it. I know what everyone thinks the cons are. But I'll tell you, it is very spacious. It feels much more spacious than those old cabins did. It feels like it's triple wide. They're really pretty. They're really pretty. And the best part of my day, the next day, was when I woke up. And I saw eight dogs, eight different dogs. People walking their dogs, and everyone-- all of these dogs are in their Disney gear. And it was the best part of my day to see all these dogs walking around the loop. I would like to point out that your favorite part of the cabins and the whole experience was when you checked out. I hadn't checked out at that point. I was on my way to go get coffee. And I saw all the dogs. So it was a very nice way to wake up. Leaving. The best part was the dogs and the golf cart. It's always the golf cart. Always the golf cart. Yeah, and I just-- I didn't have enough time there. And I wished that I did. But anyway, I'd say it was the weekend was other-- some minor hiccups here and there. But it was a big success. It was-- I'm already looking forward to next year. We already announced the dates, where we have our plans, and if everything goes according to plan, then we've got an agenda lined up, so it was a good time. Well, I'm glad everyone had a good time. The agenda, if everything goes well, then the agenda will be posted what, end of next month? Yeah, because people can start booking their rooms. So it's basically the hard part about booking a club house weekend is that we have our ideas, but it all depends on what grand-- if the grand villa that we want to book it, at the resort that we want to book it at, is available when we go to book it. So that's the wild card. So keeping our fingers crossed. And once that is booked, we'll be able to announce the plans. What are you laughing at over there, Phil? Kathleen sent me the video. Oh. Which one? Of Scott on the phone. You on the phone. Oh. Hello. So interesting that you're speaking of next year. Turns out that one year is a big date tonight, isn't it? It is. Happy birthday, guys, or happy anniversary? I don't know. Happy birthday for the podcast anniversary for us. We are on episode 52. We made it a year. That's awesome. That's impressive. And we never missed a week. No, we had some. We scrambled. Some we had to double record. But we got every single week recorded. 52 episodes. How did we come up with 52 different things to talk about? That's what I'm trying to figure out. I mean, I don't know if we should be proud of ourselves or embarrassed. Yes. There's a lot to talk about. A little bit of both. There's a lot. Yeah. Yeah. It might not be interesting to some people, but it's interesting to us. But by God, we have fun. That's right. Some of the episodes I'm proud of and some I'm embarrassed of. But the ones I'm embarrassed of, those are the best damn ones that we did. Undoubtedly, I still say to this date some of the best episodes we did with the absolute train wrecks because I am in this to have fun with my friends and God, those were fun. We have a serious topic to discuss, and somehow we end up talking about scratch and sniff brussel sprout shorts. Boxer briefs. Boxer briefs, that's right. Well, I do want to just give a shout out to Phil, because I mean, it's easy for us to show up and talk. But Phil has to do the unsavory job of listening to it back again and again and again to edit it. One of these days I was thinking on the last one, I'm going to put together an entire separate recording of just our outtakes and send it only to you guys, because what we pull out of these episodes is in some ways far more entertaining than what actually reaches the masses. We probably could have a whole episode of just Parker and some of her noises that she has. Yeah, probably. Where's Parker out there she is. She's here with us. I don't know if you can hear it yet. So we referenced it. I'm going to ask you guys, and I'd be very curious to have the clubhouse respond as well. What were your favorite points? What were your favorite episodes? What were your favorite times? Because I have a few for different reasons, and I'd love to hear what you guys have to say. Well, why don't you start with one so I can think? I'm just going to say that the one that was the absolute worst to edit. I mean, by far, I had 20 hours into editing the episode. That was my favorite. So much fun, and it was so awesome was the kids taking over the clubhouse for Christmas. Having to edit 19 different kids on various devices, some signed in for three minutes, some signed in late, some signed in early. There was shrieking, there was background noise. It was a nightmare, but it was so much fun, and it was so awesome to have the kids jump in, because in the end, I mean, it's really all about the community, and I think the kids really make that community. We can get off color sometimes, and we can get a little foul, especially maybe Scott and I. But to give the kids their own episode where they could chime in on their thoughts was awesome. I don't know that I'll do it again, because it was brutal, but that was probably the high point for me as far as episodes and kind of what it meant to the clubhouse community. And they loved it. The kids really loved it, you could tell. Definitely. That was one of my favorites, definitely. It was just nice to see them, how they interacted and how they got excited when someone said something that they loved, you know? So it was great. It was kind of like they had their own little mini community, which was kind of cool. So we've got the adults that are always interacting on Facebook and in our various social media posts, and then here on the podcast. But to see the kids actually start to form into little groups and support each other and push each other along and even start kind of throwing crap at each other from time to time, if they didn't like what each other had to say, was a lot of fun to witness. - And everybody hated Small World. If I remember correctly, I believe everybody just hated Small World. - It was universal, everybody, but Kathleen just panned it. - Mm. - Imagine that. - Memories. - You know what's kind of crazy is like, I'm scrolling back to look at them, and like I see here, we did the episode, the Crescent Lake v Seven Seas Lagoon, which was our second episode, which I really enjoyed because that was a fun conversation. But like that does not feel like that was almost a year ago. - It is kind of crazy. - You know, like the time has just completely flown by. But you know, I've really enjoyed the conversations where we kind of pit things against each other and compare things and, you know, like the resorts or doing Crescent Lake v Seven Seas Lagoon, because it's fun. I think we all, it's funny because I actually do think that we, the four of us, share pretty much like very similar perspectives on most things, except for the cabins. - But where we veer apart, boy do we veer apart. - Yeah. (both laughing) - That is true. - Cabins and Brussels sprouts will forever be points of contention on this podcast. (both laughing) - Yeah, well, and also I think Old Key West is one that we don't all agree on. But wait, hold on, hold on. Something that I forgot to mention about Clubhouse Weekend was when we had a little bit of free time. Scott, who was actually driving the car, voluntarily pulled into Old Key West. - After I was made to. - No, I mean, I don't remember anybody forcing you. You were like, I think actually you suggested it. Now that I think about it. - You made it sound like I did like a hard U-turn in traffic and it was like, there's Old Key West. - You did. - Well, let's go. - You did, you did make a U-turn though, because you said anyone wanted to go to the Gurgling suitcase and I was like, I'd go. Kathleen was like, I'd go. So you made a U-turn and we went into the general store and we walked around and you said, they actually have some really nice merch here. - And then. - So wait a minute. So Scott was advocating for what is arguably one of the best DVC gift shops on property and the turtle crawl. - Yes. - Let's say had them. - So not Old Key West, just those two things specifically, which are understandable. - Well, you just said that you just, it kind of ties right into what I was gonna say, what my favorite episode was, is when we had to advocate for our least favorite resorts. - Oh, that was beautiful. - And that just completely ties right in because I think that was one of the best times I ever had and the hardest. But damn, it just flowed right out of me. I just was like, once I started talking about it. - Nostalgia a little tear glistening down your cheek. - I had to stop myself after a while, but we did, we went to Gurgling suitcase. I had a really nice turtle crawl. They made me put on every piece of merchandise that was in the gift shop and they took my picture. (laughing) But yeah, we did do that as a kind of like a little time killer during clubhouse weekend and we had a good time. But that was probably my top episode other than the kids one, is when I got to mention all the good points about Okey West. - I advocated for Saratoga Springs. Is that what I advocate for? - You were back and forth between like three of them. You somehow went from Polly to Saratoga Springs. I think at some point in that episode, I actually had to say, Amy, which one are you actually advocating for because you keep wavering? - Well, I think I was advocating for Saratoga Springs and I just, now that we're talking about it, I also need to advocate for it a little bit more because something else that we did was, we went over to Saratoga Springs to check out the model units for the new Polly Island Tower, which were great. We can talk about that in a minute, but-- - Which I will be trying to book in 13 days. - Well, while we were waiting, the preview center didn't open or at least the tours for the Island Tower didn't open until 1230 and we were there a little on the early side. So we decided to go over to an artist's pallet to have lunch and oh my gosh, like my food, and I know Kathleen and Scott felt the same way about their salad. I got this like warm chicken and rice bowl with chickpeas and feta cheese and this like lemon, tarragon, vinaigrette or something. It was outstanding. So I just need to like advocate a little bit more for Saratoga because I don't think that I spoke highly of artist's pallet when I advocated for it and I stand corrected because this is now the second thing that I've had there that I've really liked and they loved their salads, so. - Now I want it again. I wanna go up there. - I'm trying to, oh, it was the Saratoga salad. I just looked it up. Saratoga salad with chicken. - Yes. - So mixed field greens, feta, dried cranberries, apple, spiced walnuts, crispy Chabata croutons and a lemon poppy seed vinaigrette that was absolutely to die for. - So good. - I was eating it non-stop without taking a breath for an hour and 38 minutes and it looked like it never, ever went down. - We could have shared one. It was just. - But it was fantastic. - It was so good. - Really good. - It sounded good except I'd have to skip it because of the poppy seed dressing because of wild drug testing and security clearances. - We work in healthcare and get drug tested. I didn't even think about that. (laughing) - That was on vacation. (laughing) - So we went to Saratoga Springs. We all agreed to that. We all unanimously agreed to Old Key West and then we all just jokingly said, "We wanna go to Riviera too." And then we all unanimously said, "No." (laughing) (laughing) - Right, but I also said they probably, they wouldn't let us park there even if we wanted to. So we wouldn't, we would not have been able to go, but it was a, we had a good laugh about that joke. (laughing) - But we, after our salads, we did go back to the preview center and we toured the island tower, the studio and the two, one bedroom or two bedroom? - One bedroom. - One bedroom. - And a studio. - That's what I'm gonna be trying to book on the 15th. - I loved everything about it. - I didn't want to. I even said a little prayer. We were walking in and Kathleen over heard me praying, "Oh Lord, baby Jesus, please don't let my wife love this as we walked in." (laughing) Needless to say, my prayers were not answered. - Well, considering I own poly points and you own grand Floridian and you liked that and my wife has fallen in love with the Floridian, there could be some points swapping later on. - I'm all for that. - I loved those one bedrooms. The studios were okay. I like the way the studios were laid out, but the one bedroom was like in another level. It was just completely, like I was, my mouth was open the whole time. I couldn't get over how nice it was. - And they sleep four in the one bedroom? - Five. - Five, it's gotta pull down. Yeah, I'm actually a little nervous because everyone is raving about the one bedroom. And if you look at the room count, there's only like 36 or 38 one bedrooms in that building. And that's the room category we really, really, really want. So I'm a little nervous about what availability is gonna be. - I wish they would have just skipped studios all together. They could have done duo studios and then more one bedrooms and then two bedrooms, but because the studios only sleep four, we talked about that before where the the Long House studios sleep five. - With a lot of room. - Eat with a lot of room. But I will say I like the design of the studios, but the one bedroom is the way to go. - The bathroom in the one bedroom, amazing. - Yeah, I'm just hoping the point costs kind of keep some people away because I would really like to kind of make that our go-to. - Very nice. - I'm curious to see, I feel as though the original studios are gonna become much harder to get than they already are because I think with the more people buying points, if you wanna sleep five and you don't wanna pay studio points, I'm sorry, one bedroom points, you're gonna have to stay in a original studio. So it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. - You know, you referenced Saratoga, I'm not gonna lie, we're booked there for one night in November, our arrival night, and I'm actually really excited. We're coming in early enough with the preferred room category that I think Emily and I are gonna be able to really just relax at Saratoga, go across to Disney Springs and I never thought I would say this, but I'm really looking forward to that. I think being adults only in having that access in those new rooms, I think it's gonna be a really cool part of that trip. - Yeah, I'm Team Saratoga too. I think I was, you know, there was a lot going on this weekend. So I think when we went to Saratoga and you kind of felt like you were a little bit more relaxed and everything was a little bit more laid back, I finally understood what maybe everybody's been trying to tell me all along because I like to be on that monorail loop. I like to be where the action is at. I feel like, you know, it's more value for your points, I guess you could say, but I have a real appreciation for how laid back that was and just how nice and calm and quiet it was. - Yeah, I think going with the kids, I'm sorry, get Kathleen. - I said I'm just definitely looking forward to staying there again in the treehouses. - Yeah, we're looking forward to that as well. That's gonna be a good time. I think going with the kids, we're still gonna wanna be at Crescent Lake or Seven Seas Lagoon. I just like that immersion. I like the ask tests. It's easy for the kids, but for just Emily and I, I'm really looking forward to having that little one-step remove, but still immediate access to the springs and then moving over to the treehouses with you guys, I think is just gonna be awesome. - Yeah, as soon as we drove on to the property, Kathleen said, "It's just so relaxing here." And we all kind of just went, "Oh, yeah, it is." - And you needed that deep breath in the middle of the clubhouse weekend. - Yeah, we did. And this is not about the past year, but I also just wanted to bring up real quick something that was like a highlight of my weekend, which was at Gasparilla Island Grill at Grand Floridian, this create your own salad bar that they had at lunchtime, which I loved. And then when I went back for breakfast and saw it was a create your own parfait bar, that was also incredible because, you know, I always joke how it's hard to like get a vegetable at Disney. So to be able to get a, you know, make your own parfait, load it up with whatever fruits you want to, same thing with the salad, be able to, you know, pick your base, pick your meat, whatever vegetables you want to throw in there, that was so great. And I was so happy to see that and I love it. And I wish every quick service restaurant at a resort would offer that. - I was just going to say that if every quick service offered that, it would be a game changer. - I would eat quick service so much more. And you know, that's actually one of the things I was going to bring up about our interaction over the last year, especially our comparisons. We talked about Seven Seas Lagoon and Crescent Lake. I've learned so much, just listening to everybody and it's opened up new things that I want to do. And you posted that, how many times have I said that all I want is a decent salad or fresh fruit. We eat so much more on vacation. We have such heavy meals for dinner and everything else. I don't want burgers and fried food and give me a yogurt parfait for breakfast. Give me a really good salad with a little bit of protein for lunch. And I am on board and I will pay you every bit as much, if not more, for that fresh good food than I would for the crappy chicken fingers and everything else. Make that an option. I've set it before. That's one place Disneyland kills Walt Disney World. Their food options, especially their fresh food and fruit, are so much better than what we have in Florida. - Yeah, that salad was great. - I got steak on mine. So I added steak to it and then, you know, I think I put like croutons and some Parmesan cheese and just the basics on there. But you build it up the way that you want it and then they had the most amazing sesame Asian dressing. And for 14 bucks, I was completely in love. Two salads this weekend. - Is that steak cold? - What's that? - Was it cold? - It was cold, yeah, but it was still. I mean, it was just the perfect, like lighter meal to get a little bit of protein, but to have in that dressing. I mean, I absolutely love that dressing, but we talk about the salad at Gasparilla and the salad at Artis Pallet. I don't know which one I like better. - Yeah, we're great. - Any other high points for you guys over the course of the year because I mean, I've referenced, I guess, three of them. I love our head-to-head episodes. I love our open conversations. I love the kids episode. And I'll throw it out there. Episode 50, I think I titled it the one where it all went sideways. That is beyond any measure of a doubt. I think the most fun we have had in any episode, I listened to it six times when I was editing it and I actually went back and listened to it twice after it went live. I think I sent that one to you guys early. I was so excited about it. We laughed more in that episode than I think we did in anything previous to that. - I had that one written down as one of my favorite ones. And was that the one where we lost power? - Yes. - Yes, it was. But before that, it was just completely off the rails and it was just nothing but a good time. - I mentioned it. I was to you guys that I was listening to it in my car and I was driving around just hysterically laughing. - Amy? - I'm sorry. What'd you say? - I think you referenced that this weekend. Amy? - Well, I did. I don't remember what it was. - It's just gonna be the new go-to. Anytime things go a little weird, Amy? (laughing) - Yeah. I mean, I'm just scrolling through the list of all of our, I mean, of all 52 or 51 of our episodes, which is crazy. - Now we're gonna come up with another 52 if we want a second year. - I mean, what are we gonna talk about for the next year? - I'm happy to talk more about the cabins at Fort Wilderness and how much I love them. So we can, we can hear Mark that for another episode. - Yay. - Maybe we should ask some people what they would like to hear. - Well, not only that, but I enjoy too having people on the podcast and hearing. You know, we did the gluten one and had the emollies on and I enjoyed hearing their take on that. And I know that I think there was one where you and I weren't there, but Sean. - Yep, Sean Hanson came on and we talked about moderate DVC. That was a lot of fun. - Definitely, yeah. - Yeah, that was a, those were great episodes. Yeah, I mean, I think, I actually really enjoyed the Disney adult episode too. I know that was more recent, but that was fun. - Disney transportation was fun too. The one that came after it. - Yeah, I mean, I think, you know, what was fun this weekend is, I mean, clearly, like we do, like we've said it a million times. We're doing this because it's fun, but it's fun when we see the people from Clubhouse and they reference the episodes. Like, I almost get surprised. Like, oh my God, like you listened. - Like people actually listen to this nonsense. - They're like, oh my gosh, I'm flattered. And, you know, I ran into somebody who recently joined Clubhouse, but she just coincidentally had plans. She came down for one night with two of her friends who go to Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. And she was checking into the Grand Floridian on the day that we were leaving Grand Floridian to go over to Animal Kingdom Lodge. So I met up with her for, you know, chatted with her for about 20 minutes. And she was, she was raving about it. And she loved, she was, she loves our intro and outro. She was like, oh, I love the, I love the beginning. It's so great. I was like, that was all Phil. Phil asking, what's your favorite thing? - We worked hard on that one, didn't we? - Is tapestry of nations, anything from the year 2000? (laughing) - I think it's very indicative of Clubhouse in general. You know, we've talked about it before. None of us really want to be influencers. The last thing I want is to be recognized when I walk into a park with my family. Like that's just, no, I'm all set with that. We're not monetizing this. We're not trying to sell anything. This podcast, even when we go in with a plan, okay, this is what we're going to talk about. It never really sticks with that or goes there. This is just four people having a conversation. And I think that resonates with some people. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. It's not a trip planning podcast. It's not a straight DVC What Resort podcast. It's just four people who love Disney that are just here having an open conversation. And I think that draws people in. They feel like they're part of the community, which is exactly what we want. And it's actually what many people said to me this weekend about why they came. People who came for the first time this weekend who said, you know, it's just, it's hard to find people who get it and to be able to come and spend time here with people who love it as much as we do. And like, you know, there was a couple. This was a fun story. Shortly after Clubhouse started, I met a couple sitting at the speaking of the Gurgling suitcase, sitting at the Gurgling suitcase. I was waiting for my room. They were waiting for their room. And we got to talking and they were, you know, they were talking about, you know, their DVC members and I'm DVC members. And we ended up talking for, you know, a couple hours. And I invited them to join the group. And they ended up coming. They live in Wisconsin. And they were also great at karaoke. So big shout out to Patrice and Dewey. They were great. And she just said, you know what? Like I needed to come and hang out with people who like feel like my people. And like they're all in now. They're coming for Clubhouse holiday reunion in December. She's gonna bring some cheese curds from Wisconsin. And I think that's the power of this group. If you do not use those cheese curds to make a poutine, this French Canadian is going to be heartbroken. - Well, I think in Wisconsin, they fry them. So they're like kind of like mozzarella sticks, but they're just like fried cheese curds. - I just died a little inside. - Mm, those are good. Sorry. - They are good. And so, and I was like ranting about them because, you know, once when I was in Wisconsin, I went to a place and I had them and they were like the most delicious things. And she was like, oh my gosh. She's like, they're basically served at every restaurant. She's like, you know what, for Clubhouse holiday reunion, I'm gonna bring some. So, I'm looking forward to some cheese curds. - No, I want poutine. - So, I mean, I think that's like the power of this group is just people feeling happy to be able to spend time at Disney World with people who love it as much as they do. And we talked about it with a number of different people where everyone has different backgrounds, kind of, you know, maybe a different beliefs about certain things, different things that they like to do. But when we get to Disney, we're just there for fun. And everything else kind of just falls away. And you were able to be there and not feel like, kind of like the chaos of the world kind of just goes away. And it's so fun to find other adults and have like really good fun adult time. And not just like fun adult time with your spouse, but fun adult time with your friends and then people that become, like you become even, that you become friends with because of the group. And I'm telling you again, like the hoarseness in my voice is not just because of the karaoke, but also because of how hard we laughed so many times throughout this weekend. And I can't wait to do it again because it just, it felt like just a really good time at a place that we love. And that's what this podcast is. That's what the group is in general. That's what the meetups are for. I'm just, I'm grateful. And I said this, I must have said this a million times over the weekend too. I'm just so grateful to the people who show up, just like I'm grateful to the people who listen to the podcast. Like we're doing this for fun. And so it feels like I'm just so grateful that people want to be a part of it. And it makes me feel like honored that people will spend their time and their DVC points to come and spend a couple of nights just being ridiculous, singing karaoke, like adults singing karaoke and staying up until three o'clock in the morning just out of Grand Villa. Like I think it's a fun group and we've all grown to really enjoy seeing each other time and time again. - And he's talking about gratitude and Scott and I are talking about scratch and sniff boxer briefs. If that doesn't encapsulate who we are, I don't know what does. - Yeah, well, I mean, on Sunday night at the Grand Villa, I was like having a soapbox moment late at night and Sean is texting Scott being like, "Oh, there goes my bus." (laughing) - Oh, it went a lot further than that. That's it. - No, I can't. I can't repeat what everything that was said, but it was, I was trying to be sincere and listen and have a serious look on my face. And at the same time, I'm literally my pants because of Sean and his texts. - You were doing a terrible job at trying to keep a serious face. I looked at you at one point and I was like, and I was like, what is that? 'Cause at first, I'm like, what is that face that he's making? I was like, oh, he's stifling laughter right now. - Yes, very much so. - I'm looking at both of you. I'm like, really, Amy's having a moment and you guys are acting like fourth graders. - We were the five-year-olds in the room. No doubt about it. - That's why you and Sean are my people. - Well, and that's-- - Somebody had to do it. - And honestly, that's just like this group. You know what I mean? That's this podcast, it's irreverent, but it's also full of love and full of fun. - Well, Scott, you did give a nice speech in the Granville. I thought that was very nice. - Well, I told everybody that it's, you know, my personal background is I have a very small family and I've always been one. I wish I would have had a bigger family and, you know, I'm moving down here and meeting people, the podcast, the Facebook group. I never would have imagined that it would have evolved into personally for me, not just connections as far as friendship, but it's people that I truly consider my family. I mean, I got drunk enough this weekend that I called Amy my sister. I mean, (laughs) but it all seems, (laughs) I grew up with a huge family and I just wanna hang out with Scott. - Yes, it fills my brother, Amy is my sister and everybody that was at the clubhouse weekend, I mean, I just enjoy spending so much time with you guys. I'm so glad that everybody got to be there. I wish we could do it more often. - I really do, I just wish we could all get together more often because, like Amy said, I don't really get to laugh that often. You know, we all deal with work, just the normal, terrible things that we have to deal with every day in life. But to get together with a bunch of people that all have pretty similar interests and love Disney, just to laugh the way that we laughed, it was good for the soul and I enjoyed every single minute of it. - I don't know a better way to end it than - Oh, wait, what, clean, you get any last thoughts? - Oh, wait, what he got? Amy? (both laughing) - I mean, he pretty much summed that up. I was just currently looking for a picture to send you that I wanted you to see, but it was great. I agree with Scott, I wish we can do it more often. I mean, I guess Holiday Reunion is another way of doing it. A little let, you know, that's a little, not as big as clubhouse weekend, but it's good enough. And I'm sad it's over. - I'm just, we're grateful. Anytime anybody ever gets to come down and if we can make it up there, just to see anybody for five minutes, I would gladly do it. Just to be able to say hi, get a quick hug, see how everybody's doing, it's-- - Walk around up, Scott. - Something, yeah, but it's amazing. Like I said, I have one brother, I have a very small family, but I feel like now I have hundreds of people that are in my family, and it's quite an amazing feeling. So thank you guys out there. - Well, I wasn't there this weekend, but to Scott and the two people who missed me, thank you for your support. - I mean, I just do-- - I mean, I just reached onto your text at 3 a.m. It only took me six hours to reply. - Okay, so Scott Kathleen and the one person who missed me, thank you for your support. All right, guys, does that wrap up 52? Does that wrap up our years? - It does, and do you see how long we've been recording for? 52 minutes. - 52 minutes. - Don't worry, after all the edits, that'll be down to 45. All right, well, thank you guys. Truly a heartfelt thanks for sticking with us for a year. For those of you that actually tolerated us for that long, I have no idea why, but truly we appreciate your support. Thank you to everyone who showed up at Clubhouse Weekend. Thank you to everybody who interacts on the group. We really do appreciate it, Amy. - And if you don't already belong to the group, please do. As you can see, it's filled with ridiculousness, but also a lot of, you know, just positivity. We've gotten, we got so many comments this weekend about how they love this group, because it's just so positive, so. - Well, Scott and I are in charge of the ridiculousness, and you and Kathleen are in charge of the positivity, so it's an equitable share.
