It is time for the weekly Q&A episode. We got a lot. Maybe the biggest, is it the biggest one, post game one we've had? At least in a while, lots of questions. They all came in really overnight. So many of them came through. I was like, all right, I need to shut it down. I need to shut it down. So I think there are like 29, 30 tweets, some of them with multiple questions. So we're gonna get into it. Decided to turn around and record this Tuesday late afternoon, not Tuesday late afternoon, Sunday late afternoon. Obviously it's still a little tired, but I wanted to get this in while I'm still kind of wrapped up in the emotions of the game. I did take a nap after I recorded the game review episode which you guys will have listened to yesterday. I watched more highlights and something I did wanna address before we get in here. So I watched the case down line full game highlights. I think Mason both had the video of head down the field. And I also watched Dion Sanders, Jr. So he's like the documentarian through all of this stuff. And seeing things from the Colorado point of view, they talked so much and it was very funny to kind of see the J.S. Brown play from their sideline. Absolutely amazing. Other thing I wanna touch on sounded like, and again, you could hear some of it on the radio broadcast and on the TV rewatch. And all that stuff, like, you know, totally good. But the on field highlights, you could hear the K-sit crowd come through so well. So shout out to all the cat fans who made the trip. Obviously now I wish I made that trip. It's easy to say when they win the game. But man, it sounded good. So props to all the KSA fans who are there making some noise. So we got a bunch of questions. We're gonna get into them. Before we do, we're gonna give a shout out to Charlie Hustle. Mainly because I did just take Chauncey on a walk, wearing my Charlie Hustle, K-State Wildcats with the Screamin' Wildcat logo. Crew Next sweatshirt, just around the neighborhood. Perfect, perfect, crew next sweatshirt with shorts weather. Got stopped twice by some of my neighbors saying, "Hey, where'd you get that sweatshirt?" I was like, "Charlie Hustle." Boom, go to CharlieHustle.com. Folks, I'm not kidding. You guys are gonna hear me say this 100, 150 times between now and when spring/summer rolls around in 2025. Dare fleece, whether it's their crew next sweatshirts or hoodies are the most comfortable things in the world. I legitimately, 90% of the days from now until probably May, June. I'm just choosing between which Charlie Hustle, crew neck or hoodie I wanna wear. They're that comfortable. They look that good. Of course, the officially licensed K-State stuff, the iconic Kansas City Hearts. They got all sorts of officially licensed gear if you're buying for friends and family who don't like K-State. They got Kansas City icon type stuff like folks. I promise you, I promise you, this is not me gassing it up. You will DM me and say, "Scott, you're right. This is the most comfortable sweatshirt I've ever put on." So head over to CharlieHustle.com today. All right, let's get into the questions. We have the first one, my guy, Ethan. Ethan and I send some unhinged stuff back and forth on Twitter and Instagram. So shout out to my guy, Ethan, the former and baster. He says, "Was the touchdown pass from Avery to Jase perfect timing?" I guess. I think if you wanna talk about in the play, perfect timing beating his guy, being able to sustain the pass interference and catch the ball, perfect timing on the throw, all that type of stuff. But if you wanna talk about perfect timing for the psyche of K-State fans, when it comes to the confidence in Avery Johnson as a quarterback who can throw the ball, confidence in one of our wide receivers, stepping up and making big plays, confidence. Just in this team, 'cause we all had the PTSD from the BYU game, obviously, you know, I wasn't in a good place after that interception. And just scrolling Twitter after it happened, nobody was. But if you wanna talk about it again, beyond just perfect timing of the play, perfect timing for the fan base could not have been better. All right, we got my guy Alex, shout out to Alex and his brother, he's watched some K-State basketball games with them last year. What, like three or four soccer games that just happened to sit around each other. A shout out to Alex, he is a real one, truly one of the best. So shout out to Alex. He goes, "What did I ask Avery for a selfie while he was on the bike? Couldn't you see he was busy?" Obviously it wasn't me, but it was funny. That was one of those viral moments, and I don't know if I talked about it in the game review, but that just kinda goes to Avery Swag, where he's like, "Yeah, I can handle this. Give me your phone, let me take this selfie." And again, between the celebrities on the field, between the skeptical that is the Deon show, the big plays, the big moments, the big players for K-State, Avery just casually taking a selfie while he's on the exercise bike during the game, just iconic. Again, it's just one of those moments that kind of, not kind of, it will go down kind of in the lore of Avery Johnson, the lore of this season, especially if we go on to have a special season. We got Justin Peterson, don't know anything about Justin, but he asked, "When does Deon's Sanders celebrity evaporate happy for his sideline celebs?" And he's exposed. Look, I don't think Deon Sanders is a good coach. I honestly don't think really their team is well coached. When you look at, again, I go back to the game day video blog, Vlog, that his son does. You can see how much is going on on their sidelines. You can see how much is happening that would be detrimental if you're trying to win a college football game. So, look, I think he is what he is. And I think Deon knows what he is. He is someone who garners attention. He's one of the most famous and influential athletes in the history of American culture. Again, he's no Jim Thorpe. He's not the greatest athlete of all time. But he was a professional baseball player and football player. He played a playoff game for the Braves and played, what was it for the Cowboys or 49ers? I can't remember who or Falcons. I don't remember what he played. Major League Baseball and NFL game in the same day. Again, he is one of the best athletes of all time, probably a top 200 athlete, male athlete in the history of our country. And he is probably one of the best personalities. He can attract talent to him. I don't think that's ever going away. But they're not maximizing that talent by any means. They are not getting the best out of any of those players. There isn't a single player on Colorado's roster that for their own development that they are better off for being with Deon than not with Deon with the exception of Travis Hunter. Because I think Deon's one of those few guys in the game, in the sport, who allows him to play, 50 plays a game on each side of the ball. Now, if Travis Hunter's hurt seriously, you then have to call him to question that decision. Getting got hurt last year. So even then you can make an argument. But look, I don't think he can be exposed. I think everyone knows what Deon is. So that's my take on it. We got my guy Alex. Always good for some questions. I don't know if I've ever met Alex in person, but he's a great bonehead. He has three questions for us. First one, what does the secondary need to do to improve the past defense? (laughs) I don't know. Again, I'm trying not to, you know, I rewatch the game. Obviously watch and listen to it live, watch some highlights. I mean, I do think part of what was going on Saturday was they were trying to keep a lid on things. They were trying to keep some underneath stuff. And that always, you know, when you're trying to do Ben, but don't break, that always kind of makes you look a little worse than I think it really is. But I do think it just comes down to communication. I don't think we're good enough to play "Man on Man" the entire game. You gotta pick and choose your spots. But I think it's just communicate and staying locked in. I do think it is fair to say at this point that the secondary not as good as we all wanted it to be. Thought it could be. I still think Jacob Parrish is really good. I still think Marky Siegel's very good. I think Vijay Payne's capable of making plays. I think Kenan Garber's fine. I think Jordan Riley is fine. I think, you know, some of the depth pieces, Justice James, Nikindri Steiger, Cobb's Dunbar Rich, you know, they're fine depth pieces. But this idea that we had five NFL defensive backs, which I bought into the hype. I helped perpetuate that hand up or that we had the three best safeties, like the best safety room. I can call it football, which is another thing I was saying back in August, obviously I'm wrong. Obviously I got caught up in the hype, but that's part of being a fan. So I think the number one thing is just you need to continue to communicate and also don't get lost in the sauce, man. Like if the game plan is to keep everything in front of you, if it is Ben, but don't break, then it is what it is. That's a strategy, just keep going with it. Number two, where would I rank Jason Brown in the big wide receiver rankings? I think he meant big 12 wide receiver rankings. Look, I still need to see more. I still need to see more from Jason Brown before I'm going to put him anywhere in, you know, near the top. I mean, I mean, what even is like we talked about it. He's not even at 400 yards receiving yet. Right? Yeah, he's at 398 through six games. You know, that's, that's 66 yards a game. I don't think he's in the upper tier. I think he has a potential. I think he could be like a top eight wide receiver by the end of the year. But I don't think he's in the top 10 in the big 12 right now. He still needs to continue to prove it. You know, if he has another big game, if he's around 100 yards versus West Virginia, we might be able to start talking about like, is he in the top 10? I mean, look, like if we want to be real, how many wide receivers on Colorado would you take over him? Two, three. If you're calling Travis Hunter just a wide receiver, I mean, two or three guys, probably, maybe, maybe even four. I mean, you're taking T-Mac over him, obviously. You're taking Jalen Noel, obviously. You know, there are some big, big play wide receivers taking Presley, like he's probably not even top 15 right now. But I think he can get there. I think he just needs to continue to see it weekend, week out. But he has a potential. He really does have the potential to get there. Final one. If Deuce Vaughn played for a 10 in two Boise State team, but he had the same stats he had at K-State, would he be a Heisman finalist? Um, no, and that dude is putting up way bigger numbers than Deuce Vaughn did, right? Like, he, I mean, he's leading all of college football and rushing. Deuce Vaughn was never around that. I mean, Deuce Vaughn was a first team all-purpose type player, but I mean, Deuce Vaughn was never even first seen all big 12 running backs, so no. No, I might be selling Deuce Vaughn short. I guess I probably need to take time to go and compare the two guys, their stats, but no. I don't think so. All right, we got, well, we'll just get all of Alex Brown's questions. His fourth question, in terms of NIL, how much money would it take to get athletes needed to win a national championship in football? A hundred million dollars, I don't know, but a lot. Like, I don't want, God, I hate it. I hate when people ask me questions about national titles in football. It's not gonna happen. I'm sorry, but it is never going to happen. It would take more NIL money than even feasibly possible. It's just not gonna happen. So whatever, I'll keep moving on. I can't, I can't have this be a two hour long, so I need to put the speed on. He goes, who's more overrated, cameraizing or Jalen Daniels, cameraizing without a doubt? I know we got all of our jokes off about Jalen Daniels early in the season, but he's had two back-to-back pretty damn good games. And I think he's gonna absolutely tear up Houston. And he's gonna be feeling himself when he comes into Manhattan at the end of October. So I'm definitely not saying anything about Jalen Daniels right now. And then who's more of a glass boy, cameraizing or Jalen Daniels, cameraizing? Look, again, as much as we like to make fun of Jalen Daniels, like cameraizing missed an entire year from an injury that he had the previous December. That's glass boy behavior. At least Jalen Daniels has always come back. And again, I think he's really starting to find it. So again, I'm definitely, you're not gonna find me on a KU hype video talking down Jalen Daniels. And then final question. Kasey had colored turf like Boise State. What color would you prefer? Can't be green. I'm going lavender without a doubt lavender. So shout out some great questions. Thank you for all those. Before we get going, before we keep going, we'll give a shout out to our friends, Manhattan Brewing Company. Look, I had a pumpkin batch at halftime. I had a delicious Wabash ale right as the game kicked off. And then, so I was enjoying awesome post-game ratings. I was sipping on a lemon Saison. Obviously, three different type of beers for three different tastes. And I guarantee your favorite beer is waiting for you at Manhattan Brewing Company. Whether you're getting down two points avenue at the flagship brewery location or down to Wichita at the MBC lounge. I promise you whether you like something hoppy, whether you like something sweet, sour, crisp and refreshing, malt-forward or something seasonal, like my favorite pumpkin batch. They have your next favorite beer. It's just waiting for you. Get out there today. Talk to your local liquor stores here on the Great State of Kansas as well. All right, we got Sky Mart. How do I feel about the secondary with the remaining teams left on the schedule? What do we need to clean up? Again, a lot of questions about the secondary. I've already addressed it, but look, if you look at West Virginia, green is a boomer bus type of guy. He is someone who is gonna give you opportunities to pick him off and you have to. You have to be, you have to do it. You have to pick off green when the opportunity arises. He's also a runner. First I would say he had 87 yards on 10 carries. And I think that included, nope, zero sacks. But still, that's a great thing. So you're gonna need the secondary to take advantage through two interceptions. How many interceptions does he have on the year? He has eight touchdowns, six interceptions. And the guy is averaging eight yards per attempt, which isn't bad. He's had some pretty good games. Like, look, he's a guy who's gonna give you opportunities to make plays and go the other way. But he can be a boomer bus type of guy. He is usually having at least one play over 40 yards, completing around 57% of his passes. Each game, he's having a rush of 11, 40, 23, 24, 39, 28. So specifically for that West Virginia game, you're gonna have to make the plays when it comes, but you're also gonna have to keep an eye in the backfield to help stop him from turning what should just be like an eight, nine yard run into a 50 yard run. So that's what the secondary really needs to worry about for the West Virginia game. For the KU game, look, again, every single game they've had has been a one possession game. They're down on their luck. I fully anticipate them absolutely smoking, absolutely smoking Houston. But again, if Jalen Daniels is gonna give you an opportunity, you have to get an interception. I think Luke Grimm is a good wide receiver. You're gonna have to really stay on top of him. I think Skinner and Arnold are other than capable. All three of those guys. And then what Jared Casey has a 26 yarder, Devin Neal has a 33 yarder. So they have like five or six guys who all have had big explosive plays. So they have more than enough guys to make you sweat. So that's another one that I'm going to, you know, you have to worry about it. You have to make sure that your second area's up to the task. Houston, not worry about Arizona State, it really is about, you know, scab-a-doo, skib-a-doo. You know, that will be a match up of running backs. So I'm not overly worried about anything that Levitt's gonna do again. You know, I say that, but you know, he has, you know, 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns, four interceptions, similar stat lines to Avery. So you gotta watch out there. I don't know, I'll be honest with you, have not watched a single snap of Cincinnati Swords be. I mean, look, he looks like he likes to check the ball around. Again, and then Rocco, or Rocco Beck, whatever his name is, Beck, Rocco Beck, yeah. Like, he's chucking the ball around too. Look, if the secondary doesn't figure it out, they 100% can be in a situation where we can lose just about any game left on the schedule. So I am concerned about it. But if you can survive this West Virginia game, you gotta be feeling good about the next four leading up to Iowa State. All right, we got long Ruger. How big are, is Avery's testicles after launching that ball to Chase? I mean, it was a play that you're going to remember, like assuming Avery sticks around at K-State. He has a special year rest of this year, has a big year next year. And then who knows what happens after that? That's gonna be one of those plays you remember, you know, forever from those guys. Walmart, subscribe to your weekly list. Still have about 20 tweets here. So I'm gonna try not to overly ramble. I'm gonna try to keep this around 45 to 50 minutes. We'll see how good I am about that. We got Kyle McD and a bunch of numbers. Secondary, secondary, secondary. They have to try something different. Man-to-man isn't working, zone isn't working. God. I've already talked about it. Again, I'm not, it's frustrating. Like I get it. I'm not trying to dismiss that it was an underwhelming game from the secondary. But again, you gotta remember who you're going up against. And look, I thought we did very well in the second half versus Oklahoma State. The BYU game didn't exist. It didn't happen. Outside of a handful of plays with T-Maca, again, I think the secondary was pretty good versus Arizona. I'm not, I'm not like melting down. I'm not spazzing out. It is hard. Again, it's not living up to the expectations 110%. I get it. But I don't think, I don't think it is as quite as bad as what some folks are trying to make it out to be. But that's all right. We got E_S for KSU, absolute great human. I bet you wish that we were at the Colorado game instead of the BYU game. He goes, I believe once Avery figures out, touch on these short passes, the offense will really become unstoppable. Does he take that part of his game to the next level of this season? Still got six games plus at least one postseason game, hopefully two, at least two postseason games. So in theory, he got six, seven or eight games. I guess no, it's seven or eight games left. Hypothetically nine? Yeah, I wouldn't go any farther than nine, but probably not even that much. But you got six or seven, maybe eight games left this season. Yeah, I think he can continue to prove, and I think we have seen him improve. Again, I think the numbers and some of the distribution and the QBR and quarterback rating, I think it probably was better versus Oklahoma State than Colorado. But you saw him make some big plays, you saw him work under different types of pressure versus Oklahoma State, it was on the road versus at home. So I think we've seen improvement from every single week outside of the Arizona to BYU week. So yeah, I think we can see it. Are we gonna see the finished product this year? No, I think probably by like week three or four next year, that will be the finished product of Avery Johnson, and that could be electric. That could truly be unstoppable, like you said, but hopefully we keep things going. We got Steve Zee. If the season ended right now, which K-State players make first or second team all big 12, okay. DJ Giddens, first team, running back. Honestly, I think Kilti has been pretty good. I think he's maybe second team. Maybe Panzer, maybe Panzer, second team. Haven't looked up the wide receiver. I haven't looked up the tight end stats and compared them. Honestly, probably none of the tight end. I mean, Oakley or Lofton can probably get in there. Lofton would have to come back, but if either one of those guys ends up with like four or five touchdowns, I think they probably end up as the second team tight end. Brendan Mott right now is probably trending towards possibly second team. You know, first team, all big 12, and defensive lineman of the year. So I think Brendan Mott, I think Jacob Parrish, second team cornerback, maybe Marquis Siegel, second team cornerback. Austin Roaming should be a first team linebacker. So it's kind of funny. You have what I think maybe for all conference guys on defense and maybe, maybe Siegel's not there, but I think you have three guys who should be there on defense and we're kind of bitching about the defense so much. But yeah, I think that's where it's at. I don't think Avery's going to end up with the stats needed to be first or second team quarterback. I think Shader's going to be there. Rhett's laugh. I mean, again, if he was having this type of season, Brocko Beck's probably going to be around there if they keep winning. So I don't think Avery's going to get there this year. I think he might. I think he'll probably be honorable mention, but you only asked first or second team. So we'll go DJ, Kilti, maybe outside shot at Panzer, maybe outside shot, Lofton or Oakley, if one of those guys has a big second half of the season. No, he said if it ended right now. So maybe Lofton, maybe Lofton, there we go, done. All right, second one. Do you think this team makes it more or less likely to win a Morgan town? Does it affect at all? I think it's more likely. I think that they had to get some confidence playing on the road. So I'm going to choose to believe it makes it more lucky, or likely. You're going to need some luck though. I think West Virginia has a little bit more spice than I thought they did, but I think we're going to be able to run on. I think we're going to, I think we're going to be able to come away with the win. But we'll see. Vegas only has a three point game. That surprised me. We opened up at three when we opened up at Colorado at six and a half. I don't think West Virginia is as good, but I don't know. They really shot themselves in the foot verse. I would say a couple of times. So we'll see. We got Mark. Why didn't DJ get to 200? No, 300 yards rushing. Look, I think it sounds like based on some stuff heard in post game that he might have been banged up a little bit. He had 25 carries. He was targeted for a handful of passes. So it would have been around 30 touches if things would have gone that way. If it would have caught all his passes. I mean, he was what? He was 187 rushing, 38 receiving. So he was 210 all purpose, not all purpose, 210 from scrimmage. No, 220 from scrimmage. I mean, the guy was nuts. It was nuts. He could have probably had more, but the more I think about it. And again, I think that drive after the VJ pain interception probably sticks with you a little bit, 'cause they tried to go inside of Dylan twice and it wasn't successful. So I think like if you're trying to do revisionist history, maybe you want to get him those carries. But I mean, all in all, I'm not gonna try to give him the Daniel Thomas workload, but man, he is good. He is good. Next one, how concerning are the injuries in the secondary? Early guesses were without parish, maybe seagull next week. Highly concerning. Again, I'm waiting to hear stuff on Monday. So look, we'll know more based on the time you guys are listening to this. I'm obviously recording this on Sunday evening. And again, probably should have waited to record it, but you know, I try to do it when I can, when we're doing five episodes a week. If we're without both of those guys, all of a sudden at West Virginia and then especially the next week, verse KU is gonna get spicy. I mean, I think folks need to buckle up. I'm so pumped. I'm so pumped after that win. Like don't, like I'm through the roof. I still feel the electricity. I'm just hoping I'm gonna be able to fall asleep at a normal time tonight. But I don't think that we're going to get a nice, easy win verse bus or Virginia or Kansas. I think both of those are going to be stressful games. And which means that there's gonna be a segment of the fan base that it's gonna be complaining and crying and bitching and moaning about the games. And it is what it is. Fans are gonna do what fans do. But especially if you don't have parish and if you don't have seagull, like, I mean buckle up, buckle up. Because again, I think those are our two best secondary players in a unit that has had a rough first half of the season. So I am very concerned. We're gonna keep it going with Mark. We're gonna kind of cherry pick out of order. His questions, keep them all together. Mark is one of the greatest boneheads of all time. He's not the number one bonehead, but he is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Steve, Steve Z, we already answered his question. He's the number one bonehead for reasons why I still can't believe happened. Ask him if you want to know, but shout out to Steve Z. All right, we're gonna keep going with Mark. He goes, does it feel like the offense tries to outsmart himself sometimes? Felt like the three and out after the interception was using DJ and Dylan in the opposite roles of what it should be. First off, I mean, we've seen how good DJ is in the passing game. So trying that swing pass to him while it wasn't successful, I'm okay with that. And I'm okay with running Dylan in between the tackles. I do think in that moment, I would have switched them. But like I said, previous question, he had 25 carries. He had four or five, probably four targets in the passing game. He probably was supposed to be around 30 touches that game. That's a lot, that is a lot. So yes, I do think they tried to get a little too cute, but at the same time, you do need to save them a little bit. So I don't know what the perfect balance is. I don't know if you went back and asked Connor Riley, Brian Anderson, if they feel like they made the right call there, they very well might have been like, hey, look, DJ, it was at altitude, he'd already taken like 20 hits at that point. You know, I could understand why. I don't know the reasoning why they made the decision. But yeah, it feels like that from an outsider's perspective. So I do agree with you, Mark. Next one from Mark. With the way Roberson led that TD drive wall, Avery was hurt, do I feel as concerned as before if he had to take more meaningful snaps? It did call me down a little bit. What's funny is I'm not like, do we know for a fact? If Jacob Knuth didn't get hurt during the bi-week that Roberson got in front of him, like I'm not a hundred percent sure. Probably I lean towards that. He's had a good last couple of weeks and he has really insert himself as QB2. But no, I feel good. I thought he looked good out there in the snaps that he got. I feel like if I don't want to have to win a full game with him. But again, in those situations, you know, where Avery has to leave the game, he has to get checked out. I think he's more than capable of making enough plays and leading a drive. So yeah, I do feel more confident. We got what, four more from my guy, Mark. Literally the best when it comes to asking the questions. His next one. How are we feeling about rest of the season? Look, I feel good. I still think that if you were to put me in a vacuum and made me predict every single game, I would predict us to win every single game, except for maybe the game in Ames. Like, and I hate that, I hate that so much. I already have dread thinking about that Iowa State game. I mean, there is a scenario in which K State could play Iowa State in week 14, the final regular season week this year. And then in Arlington, and then to open up college football season next year. That, I don't want anything to do with that. But I feel good again, again, I understand it. I promise you guys, I understand why there's angst around the defense. But I would ask you guys to take a deep breath and go look at Jimmy's Twitter account. And he does the advanced stats. And when you look at things with the defense, when you look at defense of points per drive, K States in fifth, find Iowa State BYU, Utah, and Houston, giving up 1.88 points per drive. If you're looking at touchdown rate, we're also at fifth, giving up a touchdown 21.4%, find Iowa State BYU, Utah, and Cincinnati. Field goal rate or eighth, I actually think that's pretty good. You're forcing a lot of field goal attempts. Score rate or sixth, so teams are scoring on 33.9%. But again, that's above the bell curve on defense. Hunt rate, we're forcing a punt on 44.6%. That's good for fourth in all of the big 12. Turnover rate, this is probably where we need to improve or right in the middle, forcing a turnover on 12.5% of possessions. Turning teams over on downs, 7.1% of percent. We're only giving up 30.7 yards. It's good for fifth in the conference in yards per drive. Guarded rate, we're a little bit lower, 44.3%. Just fractionally behind Arizona. So again, if you look at those things, we are number five, number five, number eight, number six, number four, number eight, number eight, number five, number six, and all the defensive metrics. Again, yeah, you wanna be better, and you wanna be like in the top four and all of those. Like I get it, I 100% understand. But I mean, I think the defense is a lot better than what fans are giving it credit for right now. So that's what I think. But again, I understand why the angst is there. I promise, I do understand. I'm the next one for Mark. How crazy is college football? Upsets everywhere last week, other than Utah, no real upsets this week. I mean, was it really no real upsets? I mean, maybe, I mean, look, in the top 25, Alabama went down to the wire. So again, yeah, not an upset. Texas pounds, Oklahoma. But like Penn State goes to overtime, going to the wire with USC. Pick going down to the wire with Cal. Illinois having to go to overtime, having to score 50 points to be the bad Purdue team. Tennessee, yeah. So yeah, I get what you're saying. Ohio State was a favorite. I think Ole Miss was a favorite. So there were some smaller ones. But it was a wild week. It's not like it was blowout city. I mean, college football truly is the best. Any more from Mark? We got two more from Mark. What's the mid-season coaching hot seat picture like for the big 12? It's wild. I was ready to fire Kalani Satake. And now, you know, he might get the field named after him at BYU. Let's just look at the standings. So obviously Kalani Satake's fine. As much as I hate it, Matt Campbell has things rolling. Joey Maguire, I mean, with a shit show of a non-conference three and that was so Joey Maguire's fine. Chris Kalim and obviously fine. Kenny Dillingham, you know, he's fine at Arizona State. Sattersfield at Cincinnati, you know, he is definitely safe. They could be going to a bowl game, which, I mean, holy shit. I never would have predicted good for them. Dion Sanders, I mean, let's see what happens when Travis Hunter and Shiloh and Shider leave. Like, is he gonna try to go to the NFL? Is he gonna go to Florida State? But he's not gonna get fired. Neil Brown could be in trouble. We'll have to see what happens. We're gonna have to see what happens the rest of the season. It could go south. If Kasei puts the beat down on him and then they got Arizona, Cincinnati, Baylor, or UCF, Texas Tech, enough winnable games to get to a bowl game. And honestly, I don't think they can afford to fire him after they gave him the extension, but would not wanna be him. Brent Brennan at Arizona, feel bad for him. Like, first off, they're a favorite over Colorado next week. That's shocking to me. We'll see what happens. He's not gonna get fired, but things aren't going great right now for them. They had a very similar experience that we did up in Provo. Gus Malzant, look, I'm a Gus guy, but things are looking bad for them. I think he could be in trouble with as much as they invest. So you might see him on the hot seat. Houston, you got Willie Fritz. They're not firing him anytime soon. Utah, one in two in the conference. I think they pound TCU. We'll see how rest of their season goes. He's not getting fired, winning at him. He might just retire. I actually think this season going poorly makes it less likely he retires. Sunny Dykes, if they can afford to fire him, they should. They are floundering. Mike Gundy, I don't think they can fire him, but man, I bet they wish they could. I bet they wish they could. It's gonna take some sort of voodoo magic. Well, I don't know. They could beat Baylor. We'll see if Arizona State can keep it going. TCU's frauds, Oklahoma State color. Like, look, they could beat Baylor, Arizona State, TCU and get to a bowl game. But if you drop any of those games, like, I don't see a world where they'd be BYU. We'll see what happens with Texas Tech. We'll see what happens with Colorado. He's not getting fired, but man, I bet they wish they could. Dave Iran at Baylor, he's gone. He is a goner. And then, look, Lance Leibold's not getting fired, but he probably wishes he had taken a different job. So really, I think Dave Iran is gone. I think he got to watch out for Gus Malzahn. And again, I think if West Virginia, if they have some mega donor, I think maybe Neil Brown can be gone, but I don't see it happening. This episode is brought to you by State Farm. You might say all kinds of stuff when things go wrong, but these are the words you really need to remember. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. They've got options to fit your unique insurance needs, meaning you can talk to your agent to choose the coverage you need, have coverage options to protect the things you value most. File a claim right on the State Farm mobile app and even reach a real person when you need to talk to someone. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. - Listen in. Starbucks, it's a great day for coffee. - All right, we'll keep going. Obviously, this is not going to be 45 minutes. I'm gonna try to keep it under an hour though. All right, the final one from Mark. So how do we feel about these 9 p.m. central kickoff times? I can't keep staying up until 2 a.m. anymore like I'm in college. Look, I'm right there with you. We're done this year. At Arizona could possibly be that next year in the noncon. Actually, I'd bet a lot of money that it is. Then you're at Utah. So there's a possibility for two next year. The following year, there's only one on the schedule that it could possibly be at Arizona State. And then the following year of this four year cycle back at Arizona, that could possibly be it. So I think there's a chance you could have two. You're gonna have a, I guarantee that Arizona game will be late at night next year. But hopefully it's only one. Hopefully we get a night game or afternoon game in Utah, but I hate it. But we're gonna have some of them for basketball. Okay, we got 10 more or nine more. Let's see if we can do them in 10-ish minutes. We got Brett. How did we almost lose a game that we dominated for 90% of it? I don't think we dominated for 90% of it. I think that we did really well ironically enough in the middle eight. I think we ended the first half very well and even beyond the first four minutes, the first eight minutes of the third quarter. We're good, got up 14. From that moment on, I think that from what, the halfway point of the third quarter to the final two minute, or what, three minutes of the fourth quarter, I think Colorado got the best of us. So no, I don't think we dominated for 90% of it. I think we did pretty well, but we didn't dominate for 90 minutes of it, or 90% of it. We got Paracat Ryan and he knows 'cause I was texting with him. Paracat Ryan is another Hall of Fame bone head. How many times did I melt down before we pulled it out? I was okay. I was okay. Look, I was a nervous wreck before it. You guys heard me, I was not confident in the pregame. I was winning by one point. So I wasn't overly confident. I hated, you know, punching the ball anytime we'd get a stop and we'd punch the ball early, hated that, but the only true legitimate meltdown I had was after the interception, and when Colorado took the lead again. So that was my biggest meltdown. So really only one true meltdown. We'll go to map next. We're gonna end with Callie Mike, another Hall of Famer. Maps also Hall of Famer. I give out Hall of Fame, you know, to bone head Hall of Fame, like it's, you know, the Naismith Hall of Fame. Everyone's a Hall of Famer. All right, map. What are my thoughts on Avery's Dion dance? Absolutely loved it. Part of the reason why Avery got the Swagger sticker. Can you rate the receivers as a unit? Thought they came up when they needed it big. If you're talking about wide receivers as a whole, I mean, I don't think you can give them anything better than a C. I mean, none of them really did a ton except for Jay Sproun again. Dante Sief's had a nice grab early in the game. Jay and Jackson had a nice pickup, you know, to get a first down. But I mean, you didn't really get much of them outside of Jay. So as a unit, I'd probably give them CC+. Do I think we pressured Sanders enough or would I have liked to see more? Look, I would have blitzed every single time and gone man coverage. I would have done the opposite of, you know, Ben, but don't break. I would have been like, all right, break it. Let's raise some hell, you know. So I would have pressured more. But again, there's a reason why I'm behind a microphone and I didn't even bother to buy NCAA football in 2025. So I don't really know if my opinion matters that much. But I thought they did a good job. I mean, they got, what, five sacks, six sacks, five or six sacks, a six sacks. And then you hit them like another five times. You forced one called intentional grounding. Probably could have been a couple of other. So they got to them pretty well. So I'm not gonna complain too much about it. And then where do I rank this amongst past Coloradoans? Pull. Look, I think it really depends on where this, where this game goes. Like, so I just pulled it up. Again, Snyder finally got over the hump in '97. So like, look, '97 probably has to be number one, '98 probably has to be number two. 2003 probably up there. I mean, it's a top five, but again, it's not a lot. I mean, there really is not a lot, there's not a lot. I mean, it's ugly. When you pull up Wednesday, there's a lot of gold on that. There is a lot of gold on that one. So top five. Yeah, that's where I'm at. So shout out to map. All right, we got Brett Morrie. Can I use some sponsor money to fund him to go to more road games? His current record is now 13 and one. Brett, I want to know how many of those are KU games and how many of those are like, I was state before Matt Campbell. I want to know like the specific games before I consider funding you because I have a great record. Like, look, I think, God, I've lost track of how many times I've seen K-State win Memorial Stadium. I've only seen them lose once. I've seen K-State win three times in Jack Tries, three or four times in Jack Tries. So again, you can stack up a lot of wins just go into those two games. So I need to know which games before I consider paying for you to go to away games. We got Morgan H. What are my thoughts on going for it on fourth and sixth instead of trying a long field goal? So first of all, I was fine. I was fine there. Obviously the interception happens. That was not ideal, but I was okay with it. Again, Chris Kleinman talked about how he thought back to like the Arkansas State game where they kicked a field goal and then Arkansas State marched down and scored a touchdown and all that stuff. I'm fine with Chris Kleinman being more aggressive, especially in a situation where a field goal only puts you up six. Now, if a field goal could have put you up seven or eight or definitely if it puts you up by two possessions, that would have been, all right, let's kick the field goal 'cause I'm confident in tenant. But under that circumstance, I was 100% okay with it. Honestly, would have maybe punted before it kicked a field goal in that situation, but I think it all worked out. Can we now say Avery can handle pressure on big road trips or does he still any time? Look, he definitely can. He handled a nice atmosphere in Lubbock. He handled a good atmosphere last year, although it wasn't the start. He played the majority of the game. Handled the Colorado atmosphere. Again, made a big mistake in a big moment, but he turned around and redeemed himself almost immediately. Let's see how he handles a night game on Fox at West Virginia. But I think you can definitely say, we know he can. When you start feeling confident, that might be a different conversation. When you decide, hey, I'm confident he can handle these games, that might take a little bit longer. I hope you guys have enjoyed listening. I've had fun recording this one and there were some good questions. Well, I got tired. I got a little snappy with the secondary question, so I apologize. We got Drayton Rickenberg. Shout out to Drayton, man. Shout out to Drayton. Question one, other than the conservative drives in the fourth quarter, I felt pretty damn good about how we played. Was the play calling on those drives more about Avery's limitation due to the injury than I'm trying to melt the clock away? I think there's a little bit of both of them and then you even mentioned it, not that we weren't having success running the ball, but it felt like it was a time to step on the throat. I get that. Look, I think we all, all at that point are like, "Man, you gotta keep feeding DJ." And again, we were handing off to Dylan, not DJ, but the offensive line really was having a good game there, having their way. I understand that play calling. Hindsight's always 20-20. Look, if we would have picked up that first first day, I'm really got rolling and we just iced the game out after the V.J. Payne pick. Like, I mean, we'd all be just like chest bumping on Riley. But that didn't happen. That's all right. So I would have liked, you know, maybe have a big play, especially on that first down, try like a play action type thing and throw it deep. But didn't. That's all right. Obviously the quarterback run was gone in this one after Avery got hurt. So there was some limitations there. So that did come out of it. He had his second question. Big wins from BYU and Iowa State yesterday. Looking pretty nice if we take care of business and farming and get in, are we feeling confident we'll get BYU versus K-State rematch in Arlington? No, I mean, so much can still happen. 'Cause what we're, I mean, what are we? Three, three and one, two and one in conference play. I mean, so much can still happen. We're what? 33% of the way through with conference play. I think my math's right on that one. Yeah, we're 33. So the entire conference, everyone's played three games. We're only 33% the way through. Yeah, I think if you probably look at the odds on favorites and K-State's up there, I think Iowa State's up there, we're gonna see what happens with BYU again. Things are looking pretty good because look, they're hosting Oklahoma State, they're broken. Then they're going to UCF, they're broken. Utah, broken, KU broken. At Arizona State, are they any good? Or, I mean, what's their best win? A broken Arizona, or broken Utah team or a broken KU team? You know, they dropped their game versus Texas Tech. They had to go down to the wire with Texas State. Like, I mean, the BYU schedule's looking really nice right now. Iowa State, I mean, again, also looking really nice. Obviously, if we went out, I like our chances. I mean, to block us, if K-State was the win out that takes care of Iowa State, takes care of Arizona State, takes care of Cincinnati. In theory, if Texas Tech and BYU went out, we're not in Arlington. So to answer your question, I'm not confident it's gonna be a BYU K-State rematch, but I would love that. I would absolutely love it. And then his final question, all whites for the road game in Morgantown. Get rid of the road alternate, curse altogether, and take care of the bad on the road noise altogether. That would be ballsy. Look, I've turned into what I hate. I don't wanna do it. I hate that I don't wanna do it. I can't believe I'm in this camp. No, I don't wanna do it. I don't wanna do it. Just go traditional road uniforms. Just go traditional. All right, we got the final three from Cali Mike. Where does DJ the Bluejade get-ins currently rank in the list of all time K-State running backs? Vibe rankings, not stats. So if we're going Vibe rankings, not stats. So I don't think you're saying, hey, what's their vibe? But like, okay, just me off the dome. Like Darren Sproul's number one. Duce Vaughn number two, Daniel Thomas number three. DJ get-ins number four. I would put him number four. I think he can get in front of Daniel Thomas if he keeps up this pace. And I hate, I hate that I almost feel like I'm disrespecting Daniel Thomas 'cause I'm a big Daniel Thomas guy. But what he's able to do, and the fact that he's also a pass catching threat, like I think outside of Duce, I think he's gonna have the most receiving guards is a K-State running back, at least in the modern era. And again, I know that there were some great running backs before Darren Sproul's. I know that there were some really good ones way back in the day, but like, look, that's my top four right now. I think DJ's 100% there, and I think he can be top three. I don't know if he can get in front of Duce. And that's a two time all American big 12 championship. If we go to a big 12 championship and DJ has like a highlight play that goes for six, maybe we could start talking about that. But I think there's a real chance he gets in front of Daniel Thomas for my money. And he's a top three running back of all time before it's all said and done. But currently right now I'd have him at four. He goes Avery in game selfie with the Colorado Brosef, yay or nay. I'm yay, but just barely, just barely. Again, since we won, yay, if we would have lost nay, viral moment in a game you win, almost always good. So I'm going with yay. Final one, the drive after the interception was the most predictable since God says the sun rises in the East. What can we do to fix that? Already touched on it a little bit. Look, I would have tried to go a play action pass. If Avery had an in him, I would have liked to see a quarterback read or a quarterback sweep and get him out running. But I mean, look, we were running the ball so well. I just have a hard time completely hammering it. And everyone's like, all right, time to run the ball, time to win the game, all this stuff. So I don't know. It wasn't great, but again, I'm not overly worried. Again, I would have done a play action bomb on first down. Second down, maybe a screenplay, pick up a chunk, get the clock rolling. But I'm not, the way the offensive line was dominating. And I just can't find it in myself to get too worked up over it. So all right, that's all we have probably over an hour after we throw the music in and the ads dropping. So sorry about that. I don't like going over an hour on the Q and A's, but it was a good time. Shout to Charlie Hustle, Amen, Hat Brewing Company, absolutely keeping us rolling. Shout out to Bonehead, Alice. She is the absolute best. Keep on fighting. Number one, Bonehead right there.
