Thanks for joining us, and welcome to the Professional Podcast Network, where brilliance meets business, elevates your brand, and supercharge your revenue with inspiring insights and innovation. Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the show. My name is Matt, and today I'm talking with Miss Diana from Ron Concomon, New York, and she's the owner of Heart and Soul Music. How are you doing today, Diana? I'm great. Thank you, Matt. How are you? I'm doing well. So, why don't you tell me a little bit more about yourself and your business? Well, music is my life. I sing it, I dance it, I write it, I play it, I teach it. So it is my whole life. And as a child, we grew up with music all the time. My mother played music all the time. The business that I have is dedicated to enhancing people's interest in music. Whether they are going to do it professionally or just for fun, I want them to enjoy. So my whole direction is towards making them enjoy themselves. Never believe the piano upset frustrated. I always tell them that. You always find a way to leave the piano positive with a positive thought. I see. So, are you primarily a piano teacher, do you teach voice or other instruments as well? I teach piano, I teach guitar, and I work with voice as well because I write music and in writing music I sing my own songs. I have a children's album out, and I'm the singer/songwriter on the album, so I work with students that are interested in singing and playing the accompaniment. There are two ways to play piano. You either play the melody and the left hand plays the accompaniment, or you play the accompaniment with both hands and you sing to that accompaniment. So for children or adults that are interested or teenagers that are interested in playing well-singing, that's a different approach, and I work with them on that. So do you work with all age groups? All age groups. I have worked with as young as three years old, two in the eighties, and it's never too late to learn how to play an instrument, never ever. Not to mention the benefits of it, physically, mentally. They have done studies now that indicate that it can prevent dementia and Alzheimer's. It increases cognitive skills. Believe it or not, even mathematical and language skills as well. I see. So do you specialize in a certain style of music, or do you offer all types of genres? All types of genres, all types of genres. I always teach the important thing with teaching because I'm a teacher first. When I worked in the schools, I started out teaching at Fort Benning Army Base in Georgia. Fort Benning in Georgia is now called Fort More, but it was Fort Benning back then, and I taught Army children, but I didn't teach music back then. I taught regular elementary yet, and then eventually went into teaching music after I directed a nursery school, but when you're a teacher, you have to learn about your students. Every student is a different mold. There's not one mold. Everybody's different, and everybody learns differently, and they have different interests, so you really have to get to know your students and personalize the lessons, and that's what I do. But I always give them a holistic approach. I teach the series behind it to understand music. I teach sight reading. Definitely, you know, we have to do our skills, and then, of course, we learn through other music and other songs to increase their ability, their playing ability. We can't keep them on just sight reading, because if you keep them just on sight reading alone, they'll never increase their ability, because the sight reading will flow them down. Usually, the sight reading is the most difficult. When you teach, you should teach both. Sight reading and then do another song where you're increasing their musical ability, the dexterity, the finger control, the coordination, all of that. That's another realm. So every student is different. You have to really know your students to be a good teacher. Yes, that's true. And so, for anyone who wants to learn more, what's the best way to reach you? Well, basically, my number, my cell number is the best way to reach me. They can reach me through email, but really, I use the texting method now, because everybody and their brother uses texting. They don't even bother calling anymore, it's all texting, so they feel more comfortable texting. That's a great way to reach me. I always check my text and my calls, so my phone number is listed on the Google website and it is 631 617 9720, 631 617 9720. I'm always happy to increase my student enrollments, and I also offer every other week for those teenagers that are bogged down with homework and adults that have jobs. I offer one hour every other week, which gives them two weeks rather to practice, so it's a biweekly course. All right, well, I want to thank you again for talking with us today. You're quite welcome. I do want to add that I do have my children's album out. It is called "Oh, Sammy, Please." I would love to give you that album, it's already to go, it's been produced for years, and I'd love to share it with you. I'm going to get that on YouTube very soon, so "Oh, Sammy, Please, We'll Be On There." It's dedicated to my dog, Sammy, but it's a family fun album. It's very witty, and it's a family fun album that adults like it just as much as the children like it. Well, congrats on the record. I hope it does well. Thank you. Thank you. And take care. Thank you, Matt. It's a pleasure talking to you. All right. Have a good day. Thank you. Bye bye now. And to the rest of our listeners, stay tuned, because we'll be right back with more after the break.
