Hi everyone, and welcome back to the show. My name is Matt, and today I'm talking with Jim O'Hagan, who's the owner of O'Hagan Career Coaching in Verona, New Jersey. How are you doing today, Jim? I'm doing well, Matt. Thank you so much for the opportunity. I'm so grateful. Oh, thanks for being here. No problem. So why don't you tell me a little bit more about yourself and what it is you do? Yeah, sure. Absolutely. Yeah, my name is Jim O'Hagan. I'm the owner of O'Hagan Career Coaching. I was in the staffing industry for about 35 years, and now the staffing industry is basically getting people to work. I was a salesperson, grew nicely into sales management, senior vice president, managing multiple teams, and multiple offices, where the key to our success completely depended upon people doing well on interviews. So basically, if they didn't do well on interviews, our team did not get paid. So that was really how we were compensated. So I have very, very extensive experience in knowing what the corporate world is looking for in terms of interviewing. So helping people sort of develop their best stories on their accomplishments, helping them through those really challenging, horrible questions that we all hate, you know, tell me about yourself, strengths, and weaknesses, but also helping them develop their stories to fade in a way that the clients really are going to hear it in the best possible way. And I've also been a coach for about 35 years also. So along the same amount of time, I've coached basketball, volleyball, things along those lines. So it's been a really nice natural sort of move for me, moving into doing the career coaching aspect in terms of my wiring and experience. So how long have you been doing this for? Yeah, well, officially in my business about three years, but I've been doing it for many, many years in helping people sort of help them prepare for interviews, but legitimately with my business about three years now. So why don't you tell me a bit more about some of the services that you provide? Sure, absolutely. So we have a few packages that I provide. And again, a lot of it's really cool about it. It's very personalized, right? So I work a lot with recent college graduates, kids coming right out of school. So what I'll usually do with those folks, which has really worked out well, it's my gold package, where it's basically three sessions together. The first session we would sit down together gets sort of a baseline of understanding of where they are in their skill set. You know, ask some of those really difficult questions. I go through a whole host of differing scenarios with them, helping them spell out their stories best, really vetting out their experiences. I give them some really positive tools for homework. So they do some homework. I give them an interview template. I give them really what questions to expect, really, really good questions to ask them, for them to ask the clients that are sort of differentiators. And then we'll have a second meeting that will be a really intensive mock interview. But with someone who cares about them, so I'm sitting across the table from them, kind of going through it in a real iterative manner, okay, all right, try that again. Let me ask you that question again. Let's give it another try, making them really feel comfortable so that you just start to see their confidence rise with all these, with helping them through that. And then the last part of that package is, I like to call it like sort of go in, like stretching before you go for a run, right, so the night before or the day of an interview that they have, just one more quick phone call or a Zoom call and just doing like a quick refresh with them, you know, helping them through that and sort of making sure that they're nice and tight all the way through and ready for the interview. So everything that I do, my friend, is basically kind of off of that sort of program. So some people may need more help, some, a more mature person might need just one quick hour session, right, where we just kind of go through things, help them through their resume, make sure they're ready, make sure they're loaded up and have, you know, just like a refresh of their stories and then sort of, you know, have one session with them. So for anyone who wants to learn some more about this, what's the best way to reach you? Sure, you can send me an email at jim.occs@gmail.com or you can check out my website at boegancareercoaching.com. All right, well, Jim, I want to thank you again for talking with us. You got it, bud. Thank you so much for the opportunity. I really appreciate it. You're welcome and take care. All right, take care. And for the rest of our listeners, we'll be right back after this short break.
