The commanders who were then called the Redskins still irrelevant on this radio program on that day. Danny, we were spending four plus hours in midday in 2019 talking about the Washington Nationals punching their ticket to the World Series. Dude, the World Series. I looked at not even apropos of anything. I looked at that video, though, then I'd just go into my old Instagram. It's up in the press box. There's actually the auxiliary on the spillover because it was so packed, you know, with with reporters and people. I was going to say we were. So the press box is level five. It's really level 89. It's the highest. 205. That's ever been. Like if you were at the top of the Empire State Building next to Nationals Park, you'd be even with the press box. But right above the press box is where they call the games from. That's the Charlie and Dave Booth and the, you know, the Bob Carpenter booth. We had a little auxiliary booth where we were staged and set up to do a lot of our broadcasting that day that we watched the game for. Yeah. So it turned sideways and like my neck hurt afterwards. I didn't care that first inning, when they're up three nothing, three games done against St. Louis, Patrick Corbin, throwing as hard as he ever has, just dealing struck out. Like I think double digits through five innings kind of, you know, maybe burned a little bit too bright and ran out of gas at one point, but they scored a million runs. And it was just this party was this coronation. And I videoed that last out that fly out to center field and the pandemonium watching Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon meet right at the pitcher's mound that embrace and sort of scanning around and watching these guys that had gone through the worst start you can imagine for a World Series contender who had ripped off every win that you had to win and including comebacks down seven runs against the Mets in the ninth inning and everything under the sun had just won the National League Championship Series. They didn't exist. I wanted them to exist when I was a kid. That's all I wanted. A team that I could go to games in my home city and they're going to the World Series, dude. I'll never forget it. Game four of the 2019 LCS as they pulled off the sweep at home was actually on the 14th. So this would have been five years ago last night. Today was the day that we celebrated all over town that there would be a World Series game played in Washington DC. And in fact, the way the schedule worked out, there were three of them in a row, games three, four and five played here in DC. We won't talk about the result of any of those games. That's not important because Washington was four and oh and Houston and they won the World Series and that's what matters. But this was the clinching moment with Victor Robles in centerfield making the catch, garnering the out to send the Nets to the World Series. In the air centerfield, this should do it. Robles will squeeze it. And there it is. The Washington Nationals are nationally champions. There will be a World Series in DC. What a time to be alive. It feels simultaneously like a week and 38 years ago. I don't know how both can be true. I'm going to lean towards 38 years ago right now though. That feels like a long, long time ago as a baseball fan. Yeah, I'll go through it. That first inning where they scored, what was it? Seven runs, I think ultimately. Trey Turner, Phillies, Adam Eaton, retired, Anthony Rendon, worst contract in sports possibly for the Angels. Juan Soto, Yankee, Howie Kendrick, retired Ryan Zimmerman, does some occasional broadcasting for the team. Victor Robles in centerfield plays for Seattle. By the way, stunk here for years and years and years. And then they got rid of him and he immediately became an all star with the Mariners. Jan Gomes gets a base hit in that inning. Patrick Gomes is here. Jan Gomes is here. Patrick Corbin, sack blunt. They don't have pictures anymore. Trey Turner, Philadelphia, Adam Eaton, hitting ends with a bullet line out to shortstop. That was that first inning. Like everything is so different than the best. Brian Anderson on the call Turner sports. Danny sleeps on Brian Anderson. Ryan sleeps on Brian Anderson. And especially you, especially you. Don't you dare do that. How dare you? How good is Brian Anderson? As far as I'm concerned, he's the greatest. He's really I love that. I love those sounds. Yeah. A world series is happening in Washington, dude. Bring those back. But that was five years ago last night. I posted a video. If you want to go check it out at Grand H. Paulson of that moment. And that was like almost every other memory from the end of any of those games, clinchers. Dan Hudson on the hill was speaking of how much the world has changed. He's still pitching still pitching crazy. My buddy played with him at Old Dominion. They were both freshmen together. He's just an old guy like me. He's older than me. I'm boy Joe. And so Joe texted me like two nights ago watching Dan Hudson slam the door in game one. He's like, honey, like exclamation still around, man. Can you believe three Tommy Johns or whatever it is later, just gassing it up at 97 Dan Hudson still doing work so much about that. Just real quick pitching wise. How about animal Sanchez? Like a perfect game deep into the volume. He's diving so deep into this box. Corey just can't help him. I can't stop, dude. And remember what happened in the two one count on the fourth. Well, I'll tell you speaking of speaking of Dan Hudson, by the way, memory wasn't at the first game, birth of his child. So Sean do a little closes. No problem. You sleep on about that, huh, was Jeff Passen, who's the greatest baseball writer in America. And probably if I'm being honest, the best sports writer in America with ESPN, do you know why I'm bringing him up? The jet that Jeff Pasan guy? No, Jeff Passen went to the hospital with Huddy and his wife. So I keep, I don't know how he got wind of it or how how good writers do stuff like this. But he found out that Dan Hudson was going to miss the beginning of the series because he was having a baby. And it became, I don't want to say a controversy of like, really dude? Yeah, no, CS, you're like, you're going to miss these games for the okay. I guess you only have a baby a couple times, but whatever. But anyway, then Passen has this story about the flights to and from and driving to the hospital. And he was like in the hospital with the couple. You remember that? I do now that you mentioned it. Yeah. He's like, you know, okay, squeeze this. Here's some ice chips. He's like helping out, you know, wild, then Scherzer in the twilight in the in the shadows against Adam Wayne, right? He was ridiculous. And then here's a break for St. Louis, Strasbourg shoving. Like they had no chance as soon as they got out of that, got out of that division series, man, they turned into that buzz saw. Got awesome. So great.
