A B News, I'm Ben Thomas. Primary results coming in, President Biden's now won enough delegates to clinch the Democratic nomination. Donald Trump hoping to secure the Republican nomination tonight too. He's won Georgia, results from Mississippi, Washington State, and Hawaii still to come. Meantime on Capitol Hill, Suggah McGonney reports a congressional hearing on President Biden's handling of classified documents, devolved into a proxy campaign fight. Special counsel Robert Herr had recommended no criminal charges against the president, but knew that alone was not enough. I needed to explain why. So he did, saying Joe Biden did keep classified information after leaving the vice presidency but did not intend to. Before the House Judiciary Panel, Herr defended his written report that questioned the president's age and mental competence but did not find enough evidence to bring a criminal case. Most importantly, what I wrote is what I believe the evidence shows and what I expect jurors would perceive and believe. I did not sanitize my explanation, nor did I disparage the president unfairly. Still Democrats like Adam Schiff accused Herr of political games, saying he gave Republicans campaign fodder by sliding the president, Suggah McGonney Washington. The U.S. is sending more than $300 million in weapons to Ukraine. It's coming from Pentagon stockpiles after finding cost savings in its contracts. White House National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan. This ammunition will keep Ukraine's guns firing for a period, but only a short period. It is nowhere near enough to meet Ukraine's battlefield needs and it will not prevent Ukraine from running out of ammunition in the weeks to come. A group of Ukraine-based Russian opponents of the Kremlin claims to have carried out an armed incursion, Moscow says it was thwarted, and more than 200 of the fighters killed. It all comes just days before Russia's presidential election. This is AP News. A challenge to the Corporate Transparency Act. May Anderson has the latest in the AP's Small Business Monitor. The National Small Business Association has successfully challenged a law designed to combat money laundering. A federal court in Alabama ruled the Corporate Transparency Act unconstitutional. The law requires businesses to report owners and beneficial owners to an agency called the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. The aim was to cut down on shell corporations and money laundering. But small business advocates say the reporting requirements are two onerous, and an example of congressional overreach. An estimated 32 million small businesses must register personal information with then-send, such as a photo ID and home address. It reminds to report the information have already been pushed back to January 1, 2025 of January 2024 for existing businesses, while businesses that were created after January 1 had 90 days to comply.
