AP News. I'm Ed Donoghue. On Capitol Hill, Special Counsel Robert Hear stood by his report on President Biden's memory in his investigation of classified documents retained by Joe Biden during his time as Vice President. "My task was to determine whether the President retained or disclosed national defense information willfully. That means, knowingly and with the intent to do something, the law forbids. I could not make that determination without assessing the President's state of mind. For that reason, I had to consider the President's memory, an overall mental state, and how a jury likely would perceive his memory and mental state in a criminal trial." That drew criticism from Democrats. Hear in his report concluded the President should not face criminal charges over his mishandling of documents. Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan says it boils down to a few key facts. "Joe Biden kept classified information. Joe Biden failed to properly secure classified information. And Joe Biden shared classified information with people he wasn't supposed to." The transcript showed the President was at times fuzzy about dates and details. As President Biden waits for Congress to approve more aid for Ukraine, after finding some cost savings and contracts, the Pentagon will send about $300 million in weapons to Ukraine. This is national security adviser Jake Sullivan. "This ammunition will keep Ukraine's guns firing for a period, but only a short period. It is nowhere near enough to meet Ukraine's battlefield needs, and it will not prevent Ukraine from running out of ammunition in the weeks to come." President Biden is meeting today with leaders from Poland at the White House about Ukraine. Consumer prices rose last month. That means inflation. Gus Boche is at PNC Financial. "They rose 0.4 percent for the month, and then the core number, which excludes food and energy prices, was also at 0.4 percent." Gas prices and airfares are higher. Stocks are higher at the close. This is AP News. Singer Eric Carmen has died. He was 74. Carmen got his start fronting the PowerPop 70s ban the raspberries. "A year after the raspberries broke up, Carmen went solo. His biggest hit was about the transition." In a 2000 AP interview, Carmen said he loved hearing different versions of that song. "I've been in clubs where, without them knowing that I was there, you know, a band would play all by myself, and they'd do it with an organ, and all by myself don't want to be." There were many Eric Carmen hits including one on the dirty dancing soundtrack. Eric Carmen's wife did not release a cause of death, but said he died in his sleep over the weekend.
