AP News, I'm Ed Donahue, Special Counsel Robert Purr is on Capitol Hill explaining why he did not recommend charges against President Biden over classified documents he retained from his time as Vice President. "My assessment in the report about the relevance of the President's memory was necessary and accurate and fair. Most importantly, what I wrote is what I believe the evidence shows and what I expect jurors would perceive and believe." Purr says he did not sanitize his explanation or disparage the President. Jim Jordan is Judiciary Committee Chair. "What comes through is Joe Biden felt he was entitled. You can almost hear it. You can feel the arrogance in this statement. Their mind." Purr is said to be the rare witness likely to be vilified all around by Republicans angry over his decision not to charge the President and by Democrats for his unflattering commentary about President Biden. The pilot program called direct file will allow taxpayers in a dozen states to file returns directly to the IRS online. Partners who have simple W2s and claim a standard deduction can be eligible this season as of 1 p.m. eastern time on Tuesday. It'll be available to taxpayers in Florida, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, Arizona, Massachusetts, California, and New York. The Treasury Department says that they estimate that a third of all federal tax returns could be filed using the new direct file system, and that 19 million taxpayers could be eligible to use the tool this season.
