I am rolling solo here tonight to bring you another off season outlook episode. This is going to be a rapid fire off season outlook because there's a lot of other house cleaning stuff that we got to take care of. We have to cover everything that happened a day. This was a massive day in the NFL. It was the first day of the legal tampering period. It began noon Eastern 11 o'clock central and teams were not hesitant to throw the cash to throw the Brinks truck at certain players. And we're going to go ahead and get into some of those signings. I'm not going to go through every single one because obviously there were a couple signings today that really don't move the needle at all. But I'm also not going to mention the terms of all these contracts because there's a lot of them guys and I would just get completely tongue tied and so many different numbers going through my head. A lot of these numbers really are certain deals disguised as other deals like it could be a two year deal disguised as a four year deal because of the way that they structured the guaranteed money and the teams have an out at the end of maybe like year two. So there is certain ways to I guess read between the lines whenever you're looking at these contracts, but we're not going to really get into the numbers today. We're just going to focus on which player signed with which team which player was traded which players were cut. There is quite a long list because I haven't talked to you guys since March the 7th. So we got to talk about you know what happened on March 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th. So bear with me because there is quite a bit of things to cover here. Before we get into it, I did want to say SmackDown was a success this past Friday in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center. Absolutely had a blast phenomenal experience got to see the rock Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton you know Logan Paul was even there. There was a massive announcement for like a center ring sponsorship that WWE is going to use going forward starting at WrestleMania. They're going to have a logo in the middle of the ring like of some type of brand. They're starting with prime at WrestleMania. So that's pretty big news. But like I said, that's kind of off topic. I just wanted to talk about some of the highlights from that episode of SmackDown that I was at other than that the weekend itself was phenomenal. Did not want to come home. As you guys know, whenever you go on vacation, it's so easy to just get lost in the vacation lifestyle. You know, you're eating whatever you're pretty much sleeping in. You're just throwing random things into the maps all the popular or possibilities that you could possibly do. Just you know, it's pretty much at your disposal, especially out of city like Dallas. So I had a phenomenal time and you know, how do you adjust to that time change, which is definitely a negative. You know, I'm one that really loves his sleep and I woke up this morning tired. So I'm still kind of sort of catching up to it. And it's pretty late right now. It's 1009. And I'm barely starting this bad boy. So bear with me. It's not going to be an extremely in depth off season outlook. I'm going to cover all of the points, all of the key statistics that I didn't or that I mentioned on all the other ones. But I'm not going to spend five minutes on each team just talking about it. We're going to kind of just roll through it. And I do apologize, you know, to the NFC North for having it be a rapid fire episode. But we'll get back to it. You know, we're going to get back to talking about these divisions, especially after the draft. We're going to really dive in and look at these teams as we get into the real off season, which is, you know, post draft whenever OTAs are going on. Players are putting in the work to get in shape and get their bodies ready for this next training camp in the next season. So there's going to be a time and a place to really take a step back and look at the big picture of these rosters. So right now we are more so focused on all of the things that happened. You know, the transactions are really what's important here. So let's start off with. All right, so we're going to start off on the eighth. The players that were signed, Hunter Henry, the New England Patriots, L.J. Collier with the Arizona Cardinals and adjusted metabukay for the Baltimore Ravens. He got a four year deal. I know I said I wasn't going to mention the terms with that was actually a pretty important one because he was a franchise tag player. Similar to Jalen Johnson, he got franchise tagged and then got a long term extension. The Ravens did the same thing with metabukay. The players that were cut on March the eighth for Patrick Peterson and Alan Robinson, both on the Pittsburgh Steelers, both veteran players. Who knows if they're going to continue in the league. I assume Robinson can still find work teams are always needing wide receivers, although it's a very deep wide receiver class. So he may have to wait until later on in the offseason, a team that just misses on their wide receiver goals in the draft. They don't get a chance to pick one or they pick one but a lot later. So they want to bring in, you know, just veteran competition. Robinson seems to fit that mold and Patrick Peterson. I'm not really sure what he brings at this point in his career. He was a phenomenal corner when he came out. Obviously, but he is no spring chicken. He is in year 14 15 something like that. I'm actually surprised that he's still kicking. I could see him actually walking into the sunset this offseason. You know, a lot of players from 2011 seem to be doing that. So I wouldn't be surprised if Patrick Peterson did the exact same thing on the eighth. However, Jerry Judy was traded to the Cleveland Browns or actually I apologize. That wasn't on the eight. That was on the ninth. So there was no trades that took place on the eighth on the ninth. Jerry Judy was traded to the Cleveland Browns from the Denver Broncos for a fifth and six round pick. And people feel certain ways about this move, obviously, because Jerry Judy's been a little bit of a disappointing player since he was drafted in the first round in 2020. But he's going to a new place. He's going to a new city. We've seen players specifically wide receivers go to Cleveland and thrive. I know that the quarterback situation in Cleveland is a little bit of a question mark. Although I will say it was brought to my attention. The Sean Watson did go five and one like the Sean Watson did win games as a member of the Cleveland Browns. It's just you know, it wasn't the prettiest well oiled machine like we saw it reach with guys like Joe Flacco. So obviously that's a little bit of a talking point. But I still think that whenever it comes to Jerry Judy, sending him to a place that already has a Mario Cooper, I think this is going to really, you know, work out well for this guy. They him and a Mario Cooper are probably going to be tied at the hip together and they're going to try to develop Jerry Judy. If they can get him signed long term, he could be the eventual replacement for a Mario Cooper. So this is a little bit of like a succession plan. And I'm always a fan of you know, teams making these types of moves and preparing for life after superstar players, even if that player still in their prime or still has positive years left. Sometimes it makes sense just to get out ahead and get that next player, you know, who's up at his specific position. Let's move on to the ninth officially here. Players that were cut. No one that I can see here at least nobody noteworthy, but there were three players signed that I wrote down Cody Ford for the Cincinnati Bengals, Chris Jones for the Kansas City Chiefs and Brandon Graham for the Philadelphia Eagles. We did have one trade on the 10th. Mac Jones was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a six round pick. Devondre Campbell was released by the Green Bay Packers and also the players that were signed Isaiah Oliver signed with the New York Jets as well as Chuck Clark. He signed an extension with the Jets. Kevin Byard signed with the Chicago Bears. Foley Fatikasi signed with the Houston Texans Baker Mayfield with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kendrick Bourne with the New England Patriots. So a few players there sticking with their, you know, old teams on a couple going to division rivals and or a team that has a lot of money like Kevin Byard going to the Chicago Bears. You expect him to be probably one of their, you know, key pieces on defense. They're going to feature him and have him be a big part of what they're going to do for sure this season and probably at least the next couple. I do believe he got like a three year deal. So hopefully he stays there for a little bit. Now today March 11th is, you know, today was the first day. All this stuff was official. All this stuff can actually, you know, be put in concrete. Now for ages, he doesn't start till Wednesday. So pain can't be put to paper until Wednesday, but deals can be agreed upon. You know, those verbal agreements and players can be, you know, take their name off of the market in negotiations with all other teams and agree to terms with the specific team. And we saw that happen with quite a bit of players. And I'm not going to count one by one, but I am going to do go down the list here and I'm going to name off everybody that I wrote down. And, you know, like I said, it's quite a bit before that. Let's look at some of the cuts and the trades that happen trades. Carlton Davis got traded to the Detroit Lions for a third round pick and two six round picks and then Brian Burns. Carolina Panthers outside linebacker gets traded to the New York Giants for a second and a fifth round pick and just a little quick sidebar here. I'm sure a lot of you already know this, but the Panthers turned down two first round picks and a second round pick for Brian Burns last year. That was an offer made by the Los Angeles Rams. They turned it down. They get burns for one more year. They go two and 15 and now they trade them for a second and fifth round pick. So sometimes you just take a great offer. Even if you love that player, man, if someone's offering you two first round picks for a player that you're not a hundred percent certain you were getting signed to an extension. I just feel like no matter what, you have to take that, you know, that trade. But we mentioned the Packers cut to Von Dre Campbell. They also cut David box Yari and Aaron Jones and, you know, Aaron Jones. One might seem like a little bit of a surprise, but we'll get into just why they made that move whenever we talk about some of the signings that happened today on March 11th with the lucky land slides. You can get lucky just about anywhere. This is your captain speaking. We've got clear runway and the weather is fine, but we're just going to circle up here a while and get lucky. Michael Pittman signed a three year deal with the Indianapolis Colts. That's another player that had the franchise tag lifted. And he came to an agreement with the organization on a long term deal. That's always the goal. DeAndre Swift signed with the Chicago Bears. Deon Dawkins re-signed with the Buffalo Bills. Tony Pollard signed with the Titans. Jonathan Grinard with the Minnesota Vikings. Lloyd Cushinberry with the Tennessee Titans. Deron Armstrong with the Washington commanders. A nice familiar piece for Dan Quinn. Gabe Davis with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Christian Wilkins with the Las Vegas Raiders. Tyler Biotis with the Washington commanders. Jonah Jackson with the Los Angeles Rams. Darnell Savage to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kobe Parkinson. Colby Parkinson with the Los Angeles Rams. Bryce Huff with Philadelphia Eagles. Josh Jacobs to the Green Bay Packers. Kirk Cousins signs with the Atlanta Falcons. Sequon Barkley signed with the Division rival Philadelphia Eagles. Antonio Gibson with the New England Patriots. John Runyon with the New York Giants. Andrew Van Geenkel with the Minnesota Vikings. They get another pass rusher Xavier McKinney with the Green Bay Packers. Blake Cashman with the Minnesota Vikings. Jeff Okuda Houston Texans. Daniko Autry signed with the Houston Texans as well. Devin Singletary with the New York Giants. Grover Stewart in the Indianapolis Colts. Gus Edwards with the Los Angeles Chargers. Gardner Minshew with the Las Vegas Raiders. Devin Duvernay with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Leonard Floyd with the San Francisco 49ers. Zadarius Smith with the Cleveland Browns. Frankie Louvoo with the Washington commanders. Marcus Davenport signed with the Detroit Lions. Austin Echler signed with the Washington commanders. Ronald Darby signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jordan Brooks with the Miami Dolphins. Noah Fan with the Seattle Seahawks. Jacoby Brissette with the New England Patriots. Let's see here Aziz Al-Shire with the Houston Texans. Leonard Williams came to a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. E-Torgros Modus. He signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers. Jordan Hicks signed with the Cleveland Browns to replace Anthony Walker. Sione Taki-Taki signed with the New England Patriots. Or maybe Jordan Hicks was to replace Sione Taki-Taki with the Cleveland Browns. But Noah Brown signed with the Houston Texans as well as Tommy Townsend, the former punter of the Super Bowl champion. Kansas City Chiefs. Chase Edmund signed with Tampa Buccaneers. Malik Harrison. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Jalen Rager signed with the New England Patriots. Zach Moss signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. And they immediately released Joe Mixon, which a lot of people are saying a little bit of a fucked up move for them to do that. Just because obviously the running back market was depleted by the time he got there. But I do believe that is I'm gonna refresh one more time because moves are happening right now. Literally as we speak, that's why this is such a rapid fire type of situation. It's because it's all coming in like these signings and all these moves are happening literally as we speak. So I can't I can't wait too much longer. Otherwise this list it's like a a load of laundry that you just continue to wait and put off the load ends up growing and becoming a massive load of laundry. So you have to just do it which is what I'm trying to do and maybe do another load tomorrow because the divisions you know these have to be knocked out. I don't want to continue to have the stack up as we get into obviously you know more free agency like free agencies officially going to start on Wednesday. I would love to have all of these divisions wrapped up by Wednesday but who knows if that's a realistic possibility. At the very least it's going to be this week I promise we will be done with the offseason outlook series this week. And in order to do that we have to get to our next division which like I mentioned is the NFC North and we're going to break this one down a little bit of a rapid-fire version. And let's start with the team who is currently on the clock for the 2024 NFL Draft to Chicago Bears who finished the 2023 season with a 7-10 record last place in the NFC North. 18th ranked offense, 20th ranked defense they did earn the ninth overall pick with their own record but because of a blockbuster trade that sent Bryce Young to the Carolina Panthers and the Carolina Panthers had a 2 and 15 record they ended up getting the number one overall pick. But whenever you don't own the rights to that pick it ends up going to the Chicago Bears. So now they have two top nine picks in there in a prime position to restart the quarterback contract on their roster. They get a chance to pretty much start from square one with a prospect that I think is really phenomenal. A lot of people like to nitpick when it comes to Caleb Williams and look beyond the football field and think well there's there's these things. You know his USC team didn't perform well against Colorado as USC team didn't do this. He didn't react the way that I want him to after a loss or something like that but it's never concrete evidence as to why this dude won't be a talented football player. And I'm not going to get in too far into Caleb Williams on this episode because it's it's like what's the point. He's not a member of the Chicago Bears. We're talking about the Chicago Bears. If they trade Justin will or Justin Fields almost call them Justin Wilson. If they trade Justin Fields before the draft then okay we can pretty much book it. They're taking Caleb Williams which I still think they're going to regardless. But in terms of us talk like talking about it I feel like it's kind of a waste of time until we know a little bit more of what they're going to do. But it does make sense to restart that quarterback contract get a rookie in there continue to build this team especially around a prospect like Caleb Williams you can snag a wide receiver at 9 overall to pair with DJ Moore. You already have Cole Comette. They continue to make moves with 63.8 million dollars to spend in cap space. So the Bears are a team that have a lot of improving to do this offseason. I think we're really going to see them improve. They also signed the Andre Swift just today. So as free agency continues to roll the Bears are a team to really pay attention to because I think that they're going to be making additions that seem like they could maybe tip their hand. Like if they're just making a hell of a lot of you know big time signings they're preparing to have a rookie contract on their books and they know they can really bolster the roster around that rookie quarterback. And I think that you know other fan bases in this division regardless of how they feel about the Bears they're probably not ecstatic that Caleb Williams is going to be going to this division. He does seem like the kind of quarterback that could absolutely change the state of that franchise in a way like C.J. Stroud did and that's that's high praise. C.J. Stroud is very much an anomaly whenever you're talking about quarterbacks that are able to just shift the luck of an organization and make you take them serious that you haven't taken serious in like five or six years. The Chicago Bears fit the mold of an organization that needs an injection like what Caleb Williams can bring to that team but he can bring to that fan base in that city they're dying to you know pack soldier field and make it a winning environment again. They haven't seen winning football really consistently since J. Cutler was there and if we're talking about J. Cutler as the glory days then there's a problem you know like J. Cutler was he didn't even win the he I don't really know if he won the division except for maybe the one year that oh yeah the Packers went to the NSC Championship game two soldier field knocked them out and went on the win the Super Bowl so J. Cutler's best season was overshadowed by his division rival getting the Lombardi Trophy so I think that the Bears have had enough their fans have had enough Justin Fields if you don't know that he's the guy right now by now he is not like he is not your quarterback so you can move on you can feel good about it trade him to a content you can't really try to do a contender at this point because I mean his market is shit I think that Mac Jones being traded for a six round pick pretty much deflated the Justin Fields market a little bit like damn if Mac Jones went for a sixth compare their stats like compare what Mac Jones has done because he had a pretty decent rookie year and it kind of fell through the floor after that but Justin Fields is kind of I mean he's missed time he's you know missed games with shoulder injuries ankle injuries so he's a little bit of got that injury question mark around him as well so I think that Justin Fields is not going to get the Bell the Bears a big return like he's not going to give them a haul and I think that's what they were counting on but at the end of the day it really doesn't matter I think the offensive line needs improved the defense needs to make probably like four or five more additions for before this team can really be taken serious you like the Montez sweat pickup that made mid season last year you like the addition of Kevin Byer signing Jalen Johnson to a long-term extension and obviously getting weapons but I truly think that what they do in the first round is really going to shift the direction of the Chicago Bears another team in this division that had their direction shifted by a pretty much getting a culture shock and that is Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions who went 12 and 5 first in the NFC North top 5 offense number 5 overall and 23rd ranked defense they have 47.4 million dollars to spin 29th picking the draft which is a very high pick or a low pick I guess depends on how you look at it Fargo the in the NFC Championship game to the San Francisco 49ers however that top five offense usually whenever you have a deep playoff run and a head coach candidate as your offensive coordinator he usually leaves like this is a dream situation for the Detroit Lions that they kept him not only after the 2022 season but the fact that they kept him after the 2023 season as well is just they need to absolutely strike right now while the iron is hot because I don't think it's going to get any easier for them as the rest of the division continues to I guess you know catch up to them and close gaps yourself the Detroit or with the Green Bay Packers as they were able to do last year they almost beat the team that was on another level than the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game but that's pretty much what it comes down to with the Detroit Lions is a rolling keeping things the way that they were last year with Ben Johnson the offense needs to take another step forward we need to see Jameson Williams take a big step they say that that jump from year one to year two is really whenever you see improvement from players so you could expect Sam Laporta to be one of the most sought-after fantasy tight ends of all of them this offseason as well as someone like Jameer Gibbs having a lot of attention because what you could expect them to do taking a step forward going into 2024 and I just think that the receiving options are there the offensive line is there there's no reason to think that this offense won't be top five again like you're not going to want to play the Lions in 2024 I promise you look at the draft class that they had last year with Brian Branch I already mentioned Gibbs and Laporta they got some beefy players on the defensive line as well you think they're going to fumble the bag this year in the draft they've done nothing but have good draft classes since this regime has been here and I think they're gonna have another one this year another pickin late but that means the rosters even better than what it's been so they don't need to hit on those key contributors they just need to get better they need to get slight upgrades at positions where they can and they're in a prime spot to do just that moving on to the Green Bay Packers finish the season with a 9 and 8 record which was good for second in the NFC North 12th ranked offense 10th ranked defense 10.9 million dollars to spin 25th pick in the draft because they also had a deep playoff run they lost in the division around to the San Francisco 49er so the Niners pretty much you could call it what it is they really they killed this division last year the two teams that went to the playoffs from this division both had their season ended by the same team but you look at the moves that the Packers made today I feel like going out and getting a guy like Xavier McKinney that's an upgrade over Darnell Savage and then you look at Josh Jacobs you know what it is I feel like you could call it a lateral move from Andrew or Aaron Jones I apologize Andrew Jones former outfielder for the Atlanta Braves but Aaron Jones releasing him today was a little bit of a of a gut punch to the Packers fan base they've loved him for what he's been you know the Packers have gone on run since they drafted Aaron Jones you know you look at Aaron Rodgers MVP seasons both of them or at least his two last MVP seasons they were you know catapulted by the performance of Aaron Jones that was requiring a lot of attention it was a well-oiled machine they worked so well together and now Aaron Jones has the open market now I mean we saw the Jets maybe take a swing with Dalvin Cook and it really didn't work for him you know he ended up getting cut the end of the season signing with the Ravens to try to ring chase could Aaron Jones and Bach Tiari make their way to New York we'll see how much leverage Aaron Rodgers I should say has this offseason for sure but I think that without a doubt Aaron Jones should find a home too talented of a player he's a difference maker man you get this dude and you add him to even if you already have a running back if you're making him a tandem which is what I thought was going to happen with him and Josh Jacobs was going to be very scary but luckily you know for all every other an FC team the Packers say and we're not going to do that they release Aaron Jones and now he's going to have to find a new home and probably take a lot less money than what he was anticipating because I mean he didn't get a chance to get a fresh wide open running back market he was cut after they already found the replacement similar to what the Bengals did to Joe Mixon obviously whenever they brought in Zach Moss so the Packers are just making upgrades where they can and trying to get a little bit younger I think that they do realize how close they are with Jordan Love with this offense and these young wide receivers so I think a running back like Josh Jacobs they feel like is more of a bell cow it's more of someone that can you know close out games hoping that you know Jordan Love and the rest of the offense can make these games maybe not out of reach but certainly play with the lead and they wouldn't be able to get the ball back up three with 4.59 left and milk that clock which is something that Josh Jacobs is certainly going to help them do the last team we're going to touch on here the Minnesota Vikings 7 and 10 in 2023 third place in the NFC North 22nd ranked offense tied for 13th ranked defense 40.3 million dollars to spend 11 overall pick in the draft could probably see them going up for a quarterback if nothing else staying put at 11 is just taking what everyone falls to them because they lost Kirk Cousins which I do hate that I'm not going to be able to get into on this episode just yet we'll save that for another day whenever things are a little bit more you know kind of slow down and I could actually you know wrap my mind around it process it and then you know give you guys my full thoughts on Kirk Cousins being the next quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons but as far as the Minnesota Vikings go I mean signing Jonathan Grinard probably indicates that you are going to lose Danielle Hunter because who is the other Ed Druscher that they signed today I know that they signed another one that I mentioned Andrew Van Geekle an outside linebacker so Brian Flores clearly bringing in some familiar faces to this defense but he's implementing his own identity and Danielle Hunter I mean we talked about a Kirk Cousins already came to Atlanta why not bring one more like I would love for Danielle Hunter to be another free agent addition that the Falcons make but they are you know pretty much they're not sitting on their hands the Vikings are trying to get better they're trying to prove that they can contain what they do at quarterback is likely or what their plan is is likely going to determine whether or not Justin Jefferson gives this organization a legitimate consideration about coming back and staying with this team because right now he's at a crossroads he knows all right I am at a point in my career where I am playing historical football like I am playing some of the best football at this position since guys like Randy Moss and I think that he can capitalize on that he knows what it's like playing with a franchise quarterback like Kirk Cousins now that he's gone now he's out the door where does that leave Justin Jefferson where is he going to end up part of me thinks there's no way the Vikings let him go like they're going to do everything in their power to get a young guy for him to grow with kind of like I mean Roddy White think of it like this Roddy White was drafted in 2005 he came in maybe played like one two seasons with Michael Vick and then Michael Vick went to prison so we're thinking holy shit we have this number one wide receiver he hasn't really blossomed into what we think he can be so at the different circumstance with Justin Jefferson where do you know Justin Jefferson is a superstar but with Roddy White we drafted a young quarterback in 2008 named Matt Ryan and those two absolutely killed it for three full seasons I think Roddy White earned two all pros Matt Ryan went to the Pro Bowl they were balling out we ended up going to get Julio Jones but I think that what the receivers that are there because not only is it Justin Jefferson but you also have a very good tied-in and TJ Hawkinson and you also have a very good wide receiver to Jordan Addison that's a very young player so if you can keep the players that you have pretty much just locked up on offense and just go get a quarterback one way or the other you know I feel like they may have to settle for somebody I don't know if Justin Fields would go to a team in the same division it wouldn't be the first time the Vikings have gotten a quarterback from a team in their division obviously Brett Favre but this is a little bit tricky I think that the longer it goes on with these teams you think that eventually Justin Fields is gonna have to go somewhere is it gonna be the Raiders is it gonna be the Vikings like he has to eventually land somewhere and I'm just curious where that landing spot is going to be but the Vikings without a doubt are going to have to fill that position and it would suck if they end up having a settle for like the fourth best quarterback being the fifth best quarterback in the draft but sometimes you really can't control that and if you know whenever you pick 11 there's so many things that are out of your control you just have to let the board fall and trust your organization and your scouting department to put you in a good position to add talent to your roster no matter who gets picked like there should be countless players on your board that you feel comfortable taking at that spot and if not then explore the
