AP News. Good morning, I'm Ed Donohue. Israel must make some significant course corrections. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is calling for new elections in Israel, saying he believes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lost his way. Schumer says the attack by Hamas was heartbreaking. My heart also breaks at the loss of so many civilian lives in Gaza. I'm anguished that the Israeli War campaign has killed so many innocent Palestinians. I know that my fellow Jewish Americans feel the same anguish when they see the images of dead and starving children and destroyed homes. Schumer is the first Jewish Majority Leader in the Senate. President Biden has stepped up public pressure on Netanyahu's government, warning he needs to pay more attention to the civilian death toll in Gaza. Former President Donald Trump is at a federal courthouse in Florida. A judge will hear arguments on whether to dismiss the criminal case, accusing him of hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate after he left the White House. It's another sign inflation is sticking around. Wholesale price is accelerated again in February. It could present a challenge for the Fed, which meets next week at his counting on cooling inflation as it considers whether to cut its benchmark interest rate. Retail sales were higher after pulling back the previous month. SpaceX's mega rocket Starship blasted off on another test flight. Thirty seconds into flight, we are feeling the rumble. We are seeing 33 out of 33 Raptor engines ignited on the super heavy booster. Starship soared off the southern tip of Texas near the Mexican border and headed out over the Gulf of Mexico. No people or satellites were on board. Minutes later, the booster separated seamlessly from the spacecraft and splashed down into the Gulf. Former Trump Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin says he wants to put together an investor group to buy TikTok, a day after the House passed a bill that would ban the video app in the U.S. if the China-based owners don't sell at stake. This is AP News. I'm Seth Zutel, and this is Markets in a Minute. Stocks are edging below the record highs following a mixed batch of economic reports. The S&P 500 was 3/10 of a percent lower early Thursday after giving up an early gain. The Dow fell 97 points. That's about 3/10 percent. The NASDAQ composite was down 1/10 of a percent. Treasury yields rose in the bond market following the latest in a string of data showing that inflation has been worse than expected. That kept the door closed on earlier hopes that the Federal Reserve could begin cutting interest rates this month. Traders still expect interest rate cuts to start in June. Other reports on the economy Thursday morning showed some softening in pressure on inflation. Dick's sporting goods jumped more than 13 percent after reporting much better results than Wall Street was expecting. Seth Zutel, New York. A new AP-Nork poll says more than half of Americans say they're against college athletes unionizing, though younger respondents were more supportive than the older. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News.
