G'day friends, it's Blisterguy and for Thursday the 24th of October it's episode 1375. Maybe it's 1376 actually, I've walked to a global Hearthstone and could podcast. Spaceship, spaceship, spaceship, although it's actually a starship. I'm going to say spaceship, because I don't know if you've seen the Lego movie. Charlie Day's character, like little space man Lego piece. I just love spaceships and I love spaceships because I grew up loving Star Wars. I don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Star Trek 2 but I love Star Wars and so when I play with my Lego I would make spaceships because I love spaceships. Draw spaceships, I know a lot of people got into comics. I didn't get into comics in a big way but the comics I did read, I devoured the Transformers comic, I love spaceships. Also Judge Red, so clearly I like futuristic things. Spaceship, spaceship, also how can it be the 24th of October? That would mean October's almost finished which means it's almost November which means it's almost 2025 and 2045. Mungu starts kind of high school, I'm not ready for this. Also you might be like why does it start of 2025? Australian New Zealand by luck really has the best calendar system for school. Like our school year is the calendar year and I know a lot of you, that's not the case because of seasons and things. Like in a lot of countries you start school and finish school at odd times of year as far as I'm concerned. And I grew up thinking it was normal that your school year conformed to the calendar year but as I got older and became connected to the rest of the world, I realized that it's not consistent for everyone and it is basically tied to seasons, not the calendar. It's just by coincidence, Australian New Zealand aligns with the calendar. So there you go, so yeah she starts high school year next year and I'm not ready. I want to talk about Starships instead, that's it. That's it, escape from real life, talk about Starships. So anyway look, we have briefly talked about Starships already. And again, if I say spaceships instead of Starships you know what I mean. I'm sure it's not going to be as catastrophic as saying below instead of beyond for the great dark beyond November 5th coming out. Here that's a big day for a lot of people in the States. Ooh, that's not anxious, you're anxious. Actually that's not fair because you probably are. Anyway, Starships. So where should we start? I think we should probably as quickly as possible, given I've already been waffling about other stuff. And clearly there'll be no gameplay today because I think there's more than enough Starships talk sadly. And don't worry, there's going to be any play soon. Oh yes, sidetrack again. Contests. Discord dot me slash buster guy at the w2w contest channel. Go in there and post which archetype. It says you're most excited for me to talk about on w2w from the new expansion. And you can go on to win one of four standard pre-order bundles. Now those four are the only ones I've got to give away this expansion. You like that? That sounds like less than usual and it is. Now the backstory on that, nobody's at fault here. But you know, when Microsoft laid off however many staff it was in the last round of layoffs, unfortunately the community manager for Australia and New Zealand that I had been dealing with was caught in that. That's not her fault because she was amazing. I mean, I don't know maybe it was. For all I know she wasn't amazing to everyone else but she was amazing to me. And the way this works I think is like team 5 Blizzard, they hand out promotional codes to regions to give away to their content people, their media outlets to give away and things like that. And I think there just wasn't very much buy in the Australian New Zealand region. And so what she'd do is she'd be like, "Hey, here's some standard codes." And honestly no one else uses these. So here have some more codes. You can give away like 10 codes if you like. And that is very unusual for someone at my level as it were. So when I've been giving away codes recently in the past, when there's been like 5 codes or 10 codes, there's been codes on Twitter as well as in Discord or in a stream like all that stuff. The extra codes I've given away, it may seem like I'm flush with codes. It's because no one else was giving them away. Now while my community manager has unfortunately been laid off, I believe there's someone else there who I should be talking to now, but I haven't actually been introduced to them. I've wanted to be told they're incredibly busy, which not surprising when half your team is laid off or whatever. So that's fine. So I've had to liaise with hit office instead to get codes this time. And so they've given me the appropriate amount of codes as opposed to all of the codes for the region as it were. And so we only have four to give away this time, which it doesn't reflect on us. It doesn't reflect on the local office. And maybe we can go back to having more codes later once we get back into the swing of things. Or maybe this is just how it's supposed to be and that's fine. But we definitely thank Blizzard for the codes because three giveaway bundles are much better than not. Am I right? I think you're right. I'm not a discord discord.me so I suppose to go post which archetype you're most excited me to talk about. And you can go on the withdrawal to win. One of the reasons for this is this theory crafting, right? There's always the theory crafting streams now. I believe the windows for theory crafting streams actually align so that I could in theory play in the theory crafting Friday night my time between 8pm and 2am. Now obviously I'm not going to do that whole thing. But I'm going to play it. Now I'm not going to stream it, right? So I just want to set expectations now. But the thing is like if some people are streaming it in that time, they need to have people to play against. So it's totally okay that I play without streaming it. But if I get feisty maybe I'll turn a camera on and actually turn the stream on. But I wouldn't be able to talk because the kids are sleeping. You know you get there but I'm planning to actually participate in the theory crafting. And you might be like congratulations you've finally been asked to theory crafting. Let's just be clear. I've been invited to theory crafting constantly for years. But I've been to like I can't really make it work. I'd have to take time off work and I could do that. I have annual leave. But if I'm taking time off work on like Thursday or Friday, like I can't just stream from home during that time because there's a kid there. And if I'm home I should be looking up to him and not stream right. So in theory a year and a half from now, once good starts actually going to school on a Friday or Thursday, I might actually be able to stop participating in theory crafting stream by actually streaming and stuff. But this isn't a you're finally been invited thing. They've constantly been inviting me and I've been like sorry thank you but sorry. But this time I'm like you know what I actually could maybe actually play some games. So hat's going to hook me up and I'm going to play some games on Friday night. So one of the reasons I want people to tell me which archetypes you're excited to need to talk about in the podcast is I'm going to get to try and try some of that in theory crafting and then I'll get to talk about it afterwards. Makes sense? I hope that makes sense. A lot of people are voting for spaceship rogue. Anyway, let's talk about spaceship. Starships. Starships. I feel like Johnny Deppin started Pirates of Caribbean. Really great. I really love the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I saw it five times at the movies and I'm going to say this as clearly as I can. It's a shame they didn't make any more of those movies. Okay. I want to hear no more, no more, no other rebuttals on that one. It's a shame they only made one Pirates of the Caribbean movie because I really like that movie and it's great when he's like ship and boat. Anyway. Anyway, where are we? I've got a channel full on those. We should recap quickly on the Starshipy stuff that we have already talked about. Which is the neutrals. We talked about two neutrals. One of them is common, I think. One is rare. Yeah. So dimensional core, three mana, three two, divine shield, starship piece. And the rare one, which is Arcanite Defense Crystal, four mana, three four taunt, death rail gain, six armor, starship piece. Now, those are not incredibly statid. Like, a four mana three, four with two more just not great. Death rail gain, six armor is okay. But you probably wouldn't just play that out of the blue. A three mana, three two, divine shield is fine. You'd be quite happy to have that in arena. But you wouldn't necessarily be playing that on its own and constructed. When any starship piece dies, if you aren't currently building a starship, you start building a starship. It's like a portal thing that sits on the melee screen. And it currently has no stats because it's not really in play. And at any point you want to, you can launch your in progress starship by paying five mana. And that becomes a real minion. So if your dimensional core dies and then you pay five mana and launch it, you now have a three two starship with divine shield. That's okay, not really worth it. But if you have your dimensional core die, it starts building a starship. Then you play your arcanite defense crystal and it dies. It adds it to your existing starship. So now you have a six six with taunt divine shield and death rail gain six armor. And that's actually pretty good. And then you spend five mana to launch that and you get yourself a six six taunt, you know, like, pretty cool. And so you can keep building your starship until you're ready to launch it, right? You can keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. That's how star ships work, it's cool. You launch your starship, you start building another one. Great, you launch that one later. All good, you have a whole fleet. But you're only building one at a time. Anyway, also in neutral, there's another common card. Crystal Welder, it's a two mana two three taunt battle cry. If you're building a starship, gain plus two plus two. So you can't be building a starship on turn two because you need to have a one mana starship and have it die. And I don't think there are any one mana starship pieces. There are two mana starship pieces, as I'm sure we'll get to in a moment. So this is going to come down later. But like, honestly, on turn four, spending two mana on a four five taunt is a very good deal. Because you've still got two mana, you can spend on something else. In the late game, spending two mana on a four five taunt is an excellent deal, even though you're not getting it on turn two. A two mana four five taunt is obviously great, even outside of turn two. So pretty good. I don't know how much we're actually going to be playing this in our starship decks because, you know, you don't want to draw this when you're not currently building a starship or how a starship. Like, you have starship pieces and playing, they're not dead yet. And you're like, I don't want to play this yet. But maybe it is playable. The neutral pieces, not every class can build star ships from their class cards. But these are at least there to allow the non-starship classes to still build starships if they like. I don't know whether we're playing them. I assume if you're playing starships in any class, you're definitely playing the class cards. You're probably playing some of the neutral cards, maybe not all of them. But there's not, each class has like two starship pieces each. So you could have like four starship pieces in your deck. So you could play one of the neutral cards, you've got six starship pieces, is that enough? Or do you definitely want both of them to go out to seven or eight starship pieces? I'm not sure exactly what the numbers are going to look like. It's going to depend a lot on the meta game. But I think there is some wiggle room that we wouldn't necessarily be including all of them. If we think back to Galakrond, from Galakrond, Rise of Galakrond or whatever that many set was, where we had that mechanic and there were neutral cards, I think it turned out that it was worth, like the mechanic was powerful enough that it was worth just playing all of the neutrals to enable it. But sometimes people wouldn't, depending on how the deck looked. I think that's what we're going to sit with us. Now a neutral card that we haven't talked about is a legendary. I think I have to scroll all the way to my top of my list of my starship pieces now, because for some reason I put the neutrals at the end, even though I want to talk about them first. Clearly I'm very poorly organized. Now here we go, the Exidar. It's a legendary 8-6-8 stat, it's like yeah, 8 mana for a thing. It's just battle cry, if you're building a starship, launch it and choose a protocol. So first of all, launching your starship costs 5 mana. So we're now getting a 6-10 for 3 mana, because we're paying the launch cost. It's stuck in there, I mean I guess you probably want to anyway. So what are the protocols? Crew transport. Get copies of all the starship pieces set their cost to 1. That's very strong. Depends how many pieces are in the starship under progress, but getting extra copies of them, you start again building another one, great. And they cost 1, so you're going to be, I mean they don't immediately start building the starship piece. Like the starship, they all just come into play as actual minions, right? That's a bunch of 1 cost minions you get to play. They'll then start contributing to another starship. Anyway, emergency repairs, this is the sunlight on my screen, I can't really read it. But this one basically says gain armour, here we go, zoom in. Gain armour equal to the starship's health twice. So when you're using the Exidar to launch the starship, and then you gain a bunch of armour. Pretty nice. And the last one is offensive formation is deal damage equal to the starship's attack randomly split that makes all enemies. So you're launching the starship and dealing a bunch of damage. Now it can go face, I know a lot of people see that as an upside. But if it couldn't go face, it would probably almost definitely clear your opponent's board or do a lot of damage to it. And that's obviously very strong. And the fact that it can go face it won't necessarily clear the opponent's board. But also the fact that you've just launched the starship, whatever else the starship can do now matters and is at play. So we've talked about these, this is setting the scene, these are the neutral cards that set the scene around the starship's. If you're playing the starship's idea, say you're going to be playing the Exidar. Which is the starship that the Draenei arrived on Azerothan, by the way. So, nice, nice reference there. You're going to be playing some, I'd say you'll definitely be playing the Exidar unless the format is incredibly fast. And you'll probably be playing some or all of the neutrals as well. Now, let's get to class cards. Oh first there's another neutral card. Star Vault Pier, a 5-4-5 tradable battle cry destroyed enemy starship or starship piece. That's not in progress. So it's only after you've launched it. And a 5-4-5 is not a great deal. I mean it's pretty good if it's destroying something tradable means you can play it. But I don't think this is going to be ruining everyone's cup of tea. If this thing becomes meta, then just launch your starship, small. And then start building another one. Don't get too attached to building the biggest starship you ever did. Anyway, moving on. Let's talk about Druid first because I was revealing Druid cards. Their spaceship is called Celestial Archives. So basically, if you're a Druid, you get this spaceship. This is what it looks like. If you're, each of the spaceship classes, they have their own spaceship. Starship, sorry. There is a neutral starship which kind of is one of the better looking starships which kind of makes me sad. Because like most of the time if I'm, well I don't know. Maybe if it's a neutral piece that dies first, you start building the neutral looking one. And maybe if it's a Druid one, then you get the celestial archive. Anyway, the celestial archive looks like a purplish pinkish love heart melting. With banners hanging off it. So Hat provided this image to me while I was setting up the reveal. Because I wanted to make a spaceship. And I looked at this and I'm like, well it's not this one. I need to come up with my own, hence the Geneweglian ship. Which I did come up with, which I'm very happy with. I'm glad it wasn't this one because celestial archive is... Anyway, the first card to talk about, which we've, I guess, already touched on as well, is the legendary Druid Exarch Otha. The five mana three three stats are lower than you'd want. Battlecry, if you're building a starship, get three arcane spells and reduce their cost by two. So clearly, you don't want to play this if you're not building a starship. You don't want to spend four mana on a three three. If you're a Druid, just spend one on anything else until such times you're building a starship. Then play this because getting three different arcane spells randomly and reducing their cost by two is very powerful. Let's not forget that sleep under the stars is an arcane spell. So there's a lot of great hits for arcane spells out there. I mean, it's from any class, so you're not really likely to get it. But still, that's strong, right? Okay. The first starship piece for Druid is Chitari Cloak Field. This is a two mana one three elusive. Your first spell eats two and cost one less. Runs out two. If you have one cost spell, you can play it. It's cool. Your starship is now going to be allowing you to... The first spell you play is going to be one less. The fact that when building a starship, you've hopefully got Exarch Otha to give you... Okay, I've got a sneeze coming. Spring middle. Here we go. Oh, it's a big one. Sorry. It's always a big one with me, hay fever and all that. We're looking to get extra arcane spells. We're looking to play them for free. Stuff like Astral Phaser, that's a good card. You should see the reveal, the guy did that. Really talented, cough cough, sneeze sneeze, I guess. You know, that's an arcane spell. That's pretty strong when you're getting to play them for free and things. And when they're one less. Anyway, the next Druid starship piece is Starlight Reactor 30033 Rare. After you've cast an arcane spell, recast it, target's chosen randomly. So, you know, casting arcane spells that are on target. Cool, let's do it again. Like, the Astral Phaser, the two damage to two random enemies, getting to do that twice, that's going to start clearing out their board pretty quick. So, strong stuff. So, it looks like the Druid starship is going to be helping get arcane spells, repeating playing them and making them cheaper, so pretty strong. All right, moving on to the Hunter one, it's called the Astral Compass. I kind of like the art in this one. It's like a green starship with spiky gold things on it. It's kind of neat. The first piece they have is Biopod. It's a starship piece, 2-2-2, death rattle, deal damage, equal to this minion's attack to a random enemy. So, a 2-2-2 that deals 2 damage to random enemies. It's just a single enemy, right? So, this one's doing 2 damage to a single random enemy. That's reasonable, reasonable for the cast. Could go face, could take a minion. Once this is part of a starship, when the starship dies, it's probably bigger than the 2-2. And so, when it deals damage to something, when it dies, that's pretty good. It's a 6 attack starship, does 6 damage to something nasty. The next starship piece for Hunter is specimen claw, 3 mana 2-6. After your opponent plays a minion, attack it, a starship piece. So, I mean, it's going to die pretty quickly. It's going to start adding to your starship pretty quickly, right? 3 mana 2-6. So, you're playing this on 3. When your opponent plays a minion, or summons a minion, it detects into this, or this attacks that. Like, it's only dealing 2 to it, which is not huge. It's fine. It'll start showing up other smaller minions, or it just does damage to the others. But again, it doesn't matter. Like, the damage is nice. You want this thing to die, so you can start building into a starship. Once you make this into a starship that's combined with other things, then, say, you have a 4-8, if it's combined with the, whatever, it's called the biopod. Or even bigger when you get other minions. Like, now you have a big starship that you've launched, and whenever anyone summons a minion, your big starship eats it. And then once it dies, it doesn't want to damage to something. A lot of damage flying around from Hunter's there. Now, on top of this, Hunter also has an additional spell that looks at a starship stuff. It's called laser barrage, 2 mana rare, no type, which is fine. Deal 3 damage, sunlight in the screen can't read anymore. Deal 3 damage to a minion. If you're building a starship, also damages its neighbours. Now, sometimes you'd expect that wording to be, "If you're building a starship, also deal it to the enemy hero." And, you know, a lot of Hunter mains, like, quite excited to deal some damage to the enemy hero. It's what I signed up for with Hunter. But I think dealing damage to the neighbouring minions is way more powerful. A 2 mana spell that does 3 damage to a minion and its neighbours. That's huge. That's going to clear stuff out. Like, Hunter is very much removing opposing minions a lot here. I like that. And I'm moving on to the Warlock one, which I've already talked about. The nether's eye. This is like your Borg alien simulant ship. It's ugly. It looks like my favourite art. It looks menacing. It looks like dark greens and light green highlighting on the ship with, like, an orangey purple background. Really, the art just works so well with this. This is definitely one of those ones where, looking at the signature, I'm like, "I think I prefer the non-signature version." Anyway, Warlock's ability is the first one we have, "Heart of the Legion" for 2 mana... 3/2 common Starship piece with a life steal. 2 mana 3/2 of life steal, that's okay. It's not spectacular. Obviously, Starship pieces start building it. When you launch a big Starship, it's going to have a lot of life steal. I mean, Warlock's going to want some of that, right? They damage themselves to want to heal. The second Starship piece for Warlock is a 3 mana 2/3 spell burst that deal this minion's attack damage to two random enemy minions. It's okay. 3 mana 2/3, play a spell, deal two damage to two different minions. That's not spectacular. But again, you build a Starship, you launch this, let's just shoot them again. It's got 6 attack. Now, when you play a spell, it does 6 damage to two random enemy minions. Ooh, that's a lot. And also, if you've given it life steal somehow with the previous Starship piece, it's going to heal you for a lot. So, let's say you're on turn 8, you launch your Starship to play a spell. Boom, boom. Roasting their board, healing up to full. Gross. Gross, I like that. I like that. Most of all, but also, I'm totally on board with this kind of mechanic. On top of this, of course, Warlock has a spell that goes with it. Bad Omen, 6 mana rare. In two turns, summon two 6/6 demons with taunt. If you build a Starship, summon them now. 6 mana for two 6/6, with taunt, that's a good deal. Especially if it's now. So, if you build a Starship, good deal. I think it's not a great deal if you're not. But also, it's not the end of the world. 6 mana now to put nothing in play technically, other than dormant minions. Feels pretty bad. But Warlock is the kind of class that can sometimes do that and get away with it. If you were to play Bad Omen now, put a couple of dormant 6/6's with taunt and play. And then, like, go twisting nearly your opponent destroying all this stuff and then your stuff. And then, next turn, they play some stuff. Then your turn, without spending any money, suddenly you've got 2/6 taunts and play. Like, there you is. This is the thing you can do. It's not as bad as it sounds. But obviously, you want to be building a Starship. You just want to spend 6 mana to get 2/6 taunts now. Because that's a lot. And that's impactful. And that's like, whoa, for your opponent. Moving on to Death Knight. The Spirit's Passage. This thing kind of looks like a robot from Wal-E a little bit with ghostly eyes or see-through eyes carrying a large crystal on its back. Which is weird. I don't know if it's supposed to look like that. But once you see that, you might be like, "I can't unsee that now." That's just weird. Okay, the Spirit's Passage looks like that. Apparently it's representing all the Draenei souls. Which, okay, that's actually a nice touch that you wouldn't expect from Death Knight. But the signature version is much nicer than this. The regular version I'm like, "Why does it look like a robot carrying a crystal?" Anyway, the first Starship piece for Death Knight is an epic 2 mana 3/2. The guiding figure. It's just like on the feminine figure on the prow of a boat. Kind of cool. Spellburst trigger a random friendly minion's death rattle. Yeah, cool. I mean, you don't want to drop this on turn 2, because you probably can't play a spell, and you probably don't have a random friendly minion with a death rattle. But like, it's a powerful thing to do to be able to go minion, or have a minion with death rattle and play this and immediately trigger it. Like, that's, that's not nothing. But anyway, let's move on to the next Starship piece. Solve down Spire, 3 mana 2/2. Of course, it has a death rattle. Death rattle, serving a minion with cost equal to this minion's attack up to 10. So, this is a 3 mana 2/2. That dies and becomes a 2/2. Druids had that before, and also summon another 2/2, and it's okay in the right kind of deck. It's not terrible, but obviously once you build this into a Starship, now you have, again, let's say, a 6 attack Starship that dies that summons another 6 attack minion. Alright. Especially if you've put both those Death Knight Starship pieces in the list again, say it's a 6... It can't be 6. If it has both Death Knight pieces in it, it's got 5 attack, or it's got more than 5. More than 6. But let's just say 6. Let's say, somehow it's a 6/6 Starship piece. Starship in progress, you launch it. Now you have a death rattle that summons a big minion, and also an ability that says Spellburst, some trigger death rattle. If you don't have other death rattle in play, this thing's immediately just going to summon another one. Or just a big minion. Like, that's strong. Now, Death Knight also has a spell called Softicate, Shadow Spell, 4 mana, Common. Destroy a minion if you're building a Starship. Also, destroy a random neighbor. 4 mana to destroy a minion is okay, but not spectacular. Classes have that as an ability, and they don't tend to play it up front. Unless something's very long with a meta game. As far as we're aware, there's nothing wrong with a meta game, so you don't want to play that. But, 4 mana to destroy an enemy minion and one of its random neighbors, that's pretty competitive. We're kind of like that. Now, that probably means if you're facing a Death Knight Starship, you want to be spreading your minions out, not clumping up big ones together. But still, strong. Onto Demon Hunter. Not necessarily the class I would have thought would have been a Starship class, but it is. Their Starship looks kind of cool. It's like a purple looking thing with green stuff. It looks like lasers flying around. I like it. The Legion's Bane. Because that makes sense, right? Illidan, you know, the main Demon Hunter started them all. Was supposed to be this bad guy, but it turned out that he was actually a good guy, preparing to fight against the Legion. The Legion being all the demons, the Ereda demons that the Draenei were once part of, or escaping, right? So the Draenei arrived in the Burning Crusade expansion. We get the new class. Illidan's the big bad. There's a bunch of demons at Illidan's side. He's a Demon Hunter. But it turns out that what Illidan was doing was trying to prepare for the invasion of Sigeris and Archimonde and all that stuff. Which came much later in the Legion expansion. It turned out Illidan was a good guy, that kind of thing. Anyway, the Legion's Bane makes sense for a Demon Hunter spaceship. I like the art. The first one is Felfused Battery. A little bit windy this morning. I use your 2-2-3 rear after this attacks. And give your other minions +1 attack, Starship of Ease. So when this attacks, it busses the other means like, okay. So token Demon Huntery stuff seems kind of cool, like this. Being a Starship is fine. Interestingly, if you were just playing aggro token Demon Hunter and you put this in there, you'd be happy to have it. Because at some point, you know, once it feels like you're running out of gas. You can just launch the Starship again 5 mana. Start summoning parachuting pirates from Perils and Paradise. And this thing attacks and the others get like, +1 attack. Luckily, this thing doesn't have Rush or anything, but still. Still. Anyway, the next Starship piece for Demon Hunter. Oh, I should say the second Starship piece for Demon Hunter. Shattershade Tarte, 3 mana 2/4. Rush Winfury Starship piece. So your average Demon Hunter token aggro build, right? Doesn't care about this. But the fact that you can then give your Felfused battery Starship piece Rush and Winfury. Like, you launch a Starship now that's got both those pieces in it. It can attack immediately with Rush twice because it's got Winfury. And that gives all the other minions +2 attack. You may not be excited to play Shattershade Tarte in your aggro token Demon Hunter. But it might work really well when paired with the Felfused battery. I don't know. There's also a spell to go with this for Demon Hunter Warp Drive. 3 mana, draw 2 cards if you're building a Starship. They cost 2 less. That's a tight spell as well. It's rare. That's the hand of Gildal. Skull of Gildan. Why can't I remember what it's called? I think that's what it's, Skull of Gildan. It was a Demon Hunter spell that originally cost 5 through 3 cards. And if you were outcast, reduce their cost by 3. Very powerful, got nerfed to 6 mana. I don't think it ever got nerfed from 6 mana. Now they think about it. Anyway, this is like a smaller version of that. Being smaller, not needing to be outcast to get the discount. You don't need to be building a Starship. So obviously, you don't want to lead into the Starships. But I'd say you got a lot of tokens to go with it at this point because that's clearly how it's going to work. It's a very strong card. 3 mana, draw 2 cards and reduce their cost by 2 is really good. Ugh, nice. The last class with spaceships. Starships, I'm sorry. It's Rogue. The Scavenger's Will. A fine-looking picture. A bluish, purpleish background, mostly blue. Like it's almost like it's underwater. A gold, filigree-looking Starship. It's fine. The first thing we want to look at with Rogue is the spell that associates with Starships. If you're building a Starship, it's cost 1. It's barrel roll. 3 mana, deal 5 damage to an undamaged character. Cost 1 if you build a Starship. So 1 mana to deal 5 damage to an undamaged character. It's pretty good. 5 damage is a lot. It has to be undamaged. Honestly, I don't know whether they added that because of Sonya. But it's probably a good idea because of this cost 1 and you play it with Sonya. Sonya gives you a copy that costs 0, right? But if you're still building a Starship, that sets it to 1. So you would be able to play this endlessly. And if it was a damage character you could target it with, you could target a lot of characters with that under Sonya. And that, you know, that might make people sad. So it has to be an undamaged character. So there's a limit to how much you can do with that. But still, that's your barrel roll. That's a reasonable piece of removal if you're building a Starship. And what do the rogue Starship pieces look like? They don't. They don't have any Starship pieces. Which is a bit sad. But why is this the class that most people are excited to play with for Starships? Because the first spell is Starship Schematic. 1 mana to discover a Starship piece from another class. Ooh, that's kind of cool. And the next one is Scrounging Shipwright. 2 mana, 3, 2, Draenei, common. Death Red will get a random Starship piece from another class. So Rogue plays with everyone else's Starship pieces. All the neat combos that we talked about inside each class in their Starship do compliment each other. Rogue gets to do all of them and mix and match. And I think a lot of people, myself included, are excited to do Starship Rogue. Just because this is the first deck you play, you get to play all kinds of different Starships. That's exciting. Now, you just don't get to play that many different Starship pieces. You probably want to find ways to make extra copies of these kinds so you can get extra Starship pieces. I don't know what the next is. Look, like a good version of the deck. Maybe he's not trying to duplicate these Starship pieces. They may not even be a good version of Starship Rogue, but that doesn't matter. It sounds like the most fun way to build spaceships. Because Rogue doesn't have its own Starship pieces, like everyone else, it does have a single Starship piece. It has a legendary, which Leo is like, 'cause they don't have their own Starship pieces. We thought we'd give them one. A legendary, the gravitational displacer. Now, that's a long name. When you see it on the card, you're like, "Wow, that's small text. I need to get my glasses out. Maybe I need bifocals." I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. The last time I went to an optometrist, they were like, "You could get bifocals that might help, the distance as well as reading." I'm like, "Nope, nope, nope, nope. I'm getting old, but I'm not that old. I'm not having bifocals." My wife said the last time she went to optometrist, they said the same thing. I'm like, "No, thank you. I don't care how much it might help with what I can and can't see. I'm not so old that I want bifocals yet. I'm not ready for that." Look, notice credit to any of you out there, 'cause I know that some of you out there are even older than I am. If you have bifocals, that just means you've accepted that you're getting older more than I have. I'm totally okay with getting older. I thought bifocals were things that happened to people who were 70. Anyway, the gravitational displacer is a 5-4-3, so it's not great for the cost, right? Starship piece. Okay, yeah. When this is launched, I'm gonna copy of the Starship. So this doesn't do anything on its own. This is just a 5-4-3, which you're not thrilled about playing. But you will, because launching a Starship and getting two copies of that Starship is big. It's too big. It's not really big. It's nice to them. It's too. The 2-W-O big. Ooh, that's exciting. And let's not forget that what a 5-4-3 is not, a lot of launch stats for the cost. Adding 4-3 to a Starship is pretty good. The thing that's really interesting here, of course, is that it's cost 5. So if you were looking to launch a Starship as early as turn 5, but you wanted to have a gravitational displacement in there, it doesn't fit. It can't do them both at the same time. But what kind of cheating manner Rogue finds a way, am I right? Anyway, so exciting. I'm really excited by Starships, and part of it, I think, is my childhood love of Star Wars. But also the Rogue Starship stuff looks cool, but also all of the Starships look cool. I would be driftfully disappointed if Starships are not good enough in standard. But the thing is, the last expansion in the year, it's entirely possible Starships won't be good enough. And that would be sad, but look, it's okay. I think it's an exciting thing. It'll be probably a lot better in theory crafting than it will be in standard. So if it's good in standard, it'll be great in theory crafting. Looking forward to trying it there. I don't know how good it'll be in the pre-release brawl. Some of the pieces are epic, right? Like any epic piece is going to be hard to play that class in Starship unless you're getting your pre-order bundles. Discord.me/spoistag, you want to try and win WZW contest channel? Good idea. But I'm looking forward to playing some of them, and maybe playing some of them in the pre-release brawl. It's awesome. Now, I don't have the name in front of me, but someone very cleverly discussed the idea of ranking the Starship Arts for the different classes. Now, I haven't figured out a ranking, but I know which ones I like, but I have them all here that I look at. So let's look at now the Exile's Hope, which is the neutral one. And I don't know whether it's if you're just a non-Saship class that you get this, or whether if the first Starship piece dies as a neutral you get that. And I kind of hope it's there. It's a nice-looking ship. It is the Exile's Hope. Like it's that classic Draenei ship look. It's nice. The signature version is quite nice. It has that look of a gilded spaceship. You can see the planet behind it. It has like a sparkle on the planet that looks like the sun may be coming around the horizon, but it's green. Really nice looking out. I do like the Exile's Hope. And part of the reason I hope that a neutral starts your Starship, you get that one, is because I like the art, right? Anyway. Oh, how this works is there are signatures for a lot of the Starship pieces, I believe. Some of these are commons or rares and things. So I'm not exactly sure how we get these. Maybe they're a rewards track or something. I don't know. But like, you get to choose whether you're playing the signature versions of the Starship pieces, so you get to choose whether you're going to be having a signature Starship or just like a regular Starship, which I appreciate. Anyway, the Druid one already talked about that weird celestial archive is like the love heart with banners hanging off it. The signature version doesn't look the same. It kind of looks like an Eldrazi from Magic Gathering, to be honest. But the art is nice. It's got clouds for scale. Like suddenly we used to see a magic a lot. Probably still do. There's birds for scale and artwork. We see tiny birds to really show how big the monster is. This says clouds, which really makes this Starship look huge. I think the signature Druid one looks much nicer than a regular one. The Astral Compass for Hunter. It's the green sort of glass with orange trim sort of stuff. The signature version is more of the same from a different point of view. It has more clouds, which is nice. But honestly, I think I like the regular version better. They are similar. But I think I like the regular version better. The Nether's Eye. This is the evil looking one for Warlock. That looks like you're alien. Simulant Borg ship. It doesn't look like the Borg ship, because the Borg ship was the giant cube, right? This thing definitely just like, it has that bad guys from Star Wars look. Oh, bad guys from Firefly look. And I really like the colors as I sit on this one. The dark green with the light green tinges. The purple and orange chaotic space background. Really nice. The signature version, the ship looks more blue and green with green highlights, which is nice. But the background is mostly blue and purple. And so it doesn't pop the same way color-wise for me. So I think if I'm playing Warlocks, I'm very much trying to avoid using the signature versions. The art is fine on the signature ship, but it's just that the regular version is much nicer. Anyway, this is various passage, how very joke to about how this looks like a woolly robot carrying a big crystal, which is... It's fine, but I can't unsee what I've seen. The signature version, it looks like it's coming straight at you. It looks like a pirate ship, it's got like a skull looking thing on the front. Lots of black with gold trim, lots of blue glowing light coming up and steam. It looks amazing. This is one that definitely would be, even though I generally don't like playing a signature card, if I'm playing Death Knight's Starship, I'm putting signatures in there because this Starship is so much nicer than the woolly carrying a crystal. The last one for rogues, Scavenger's Will. As I said, gold filigree look, it kind of looks like an old depiction of a spaceship submarine kind of thing, which is cool. It looks like it's underwater because of the bluish background. The signature version is more of the same, still also looks like it's underwater but from a different view. I'm not worried either way, I think the original Scavenger's Will looks fine. I think I'd probably just lean regular on this. But overall, even though I'm excited to be playing Rogue Starship, and if you discover, let's say a druid Starship piece, and it's the first one to die, I bet you're building a druid Starship as rogues. You're going to get them all, which is neat. Go to be careful, I just realized that for my Rogue card, let's say it's a golden spell that discovers a Starship piece. It's going to discover, will it discover a golden version of the Starship piece, or will it discover a signature version? I might not have as much control of it, it's a big me problem, I know. Still, like, I bet Rogue gets all kinds of different starships based on whatever pieces die, which is cool. Which one do I like the most? I think I really like that Warlock one. Just because it looks so much like what I didn't expect, but also what I've had nightmares about when I was young, it's amazing. The Hunter one's nice, like, a lot of them are nice, and for each one where there's a version which I'm like, I'm not a soul on that version, the signature version is really nice. So there's at least one version of each, which I don't really like, which, you know, being a bit of a cosmetics whale myself, I should be able to pick and choose whichever class I'm playing with my Starships, which kind of Starship I want to build, which is nice. Also with the Exile's Hope, thankfully I like both the signature and normal version of that, so it's not like I have to pick and choose with the normal pieces I'm playing. But again, I'm not exactly sure how we get these signature Starship pieces, we shall see. As we get started, maybe I won't get a lot of choice if I'm having to unlock them on the reward track, which I don't mind. I don't mind unlocking things on the reward track, but it's just that, you know, you don't get them straight away. I've just realized that I think last episode, I didn't think any Patrons, and I haven't thanked any of this episode. And as I was getting to the Train Platform just now, I trained in Wisconsin a little bit of time. But, you know, look, I'm really excited to play with Starships. I don't know if they're going to be good. I hope they're good, it would be a shame for such a marquee mechanic of the expansion not to be good. I feel like they're going to be good, but mostly I feel like I'm going to enjoy playing with them. I feel like it's going to be fun building Starships and launching them. That's my childhood all over, and I'm super hyped for that. There are other things about this expansion that are cool, and I'm going to enjoy them, but I think when I sit down and interrogate what I'm so excited about, it's flipping Starships, mate. I'm just, oh, I want to launch a Starship. I do. Okay, now, thanking a couple of Patrons this time, because I'm pretty sure I forgot, because I remember reading this earlier this weekend, "Ah, yes, it's Ephesus next." Or Ephesus, if you're feeling adventurous, do remember that's what the note they gave them. So, Ephesus, thank you to Ephesus, and, of course, today, thank you to Swarmtides for both their Patrons and anyone who supports the work we do here at patreon.com/plstilide because it goes a long way to help me keep doing the work I'm doing. Because, clearly, I spend a lot of time on this, and, you know, that isn't without emotional cost in the family. The kids do kind of enjoy it, I admit. My wife did kind of chuckle, but also would not admit that it was funny or good. I did hear her laughing at it, but she won't say it's because she doesn't want to encourage me too much, because, you know, if I'm honest, my head does get into the reveal game when I'm making them, and it's probably not in the family game as much as it could be. So, patreon support goes a long way to help defray that damage that I'm doing to my family by doing these things. So, thank you to Swarmtides and Ephesus and everyone else who supports the work we do. It really does go a long way. If you can't afford a sport, I completely understand, and I wouldn't want anyone who couldn't afford a sport to do so. Tell a friend, leave a review, that all helps as well. Everything helps further the reach of this podcast, which has been going a long time and still keeps going and still has listeners, so... I'm guessing some of you enjoy being here, and I really appreciate that. Anyway, there should be a train here soon, so let's start signing off. I'm really excited, A, about this expansion. I'm not sure when I'm going to get to do a full set review, if I can. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. It's a busy time of year for us. It always is, interview performances and rehearsals and things like that, mongers. I will be doing theory crafting this tomorrow night. It probably won't be streamed, likelihood it won't be streamed. If it is streamed, the camera might be on. I might be streaming, but I won't be able to talk, and maybe the mic won't be on, that kind of thing. But I promise to try and mug for the camera, but my wife will probably get confused by what I'm doing, and probably feel slightly aggrieved that I'm not paying attention to her, you know, how it is. So it's likely I'll just be playing, but of course, the first episode of next week, I'll be recapping my experience with the theory crafting and how it went. Usually when it comes to how did the theory crafting go, I'm like, this is what I saw. Other people talking about, this time it's going to be, this is what I did while playing. And of course next week, so Tuesday, we'll talk about the theory crafting. Wednesday, my time, we can start the pre-release brawl. So Thursday, I'll no doubt be playing some of it on the podcast and talking about the day and then of course, Friday, I'll probably do more of the same. I guess more of the same than Tuesday after that. The Wednesday after that, we open our packs. I don't usually record expansion these days, but I might because I have to take Friday off work that week on the 8th, which means I probably can't record as easily that day. So I might end up doing like a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in that week of the expansion launch. We'll see, right? I mean, time will tell. But look, we've got plenty to talk about in the coming weeks. I'm not sure where I can do a full set review on that. And if I can't, I guess I can't, right? I can't do everything. And honestly, sometimes I think full set reviews are over blowing and actually kind of dry. You don't actually want to, it's okay to hear one person talk about every card in the expansion, but the minute you hear two people doing it, I'm going to level with you. Anytime a podcast, any podcast does a full set review of anything, I kind of don't listen. I don't have time for that. I've already seen the cards. I don't hear everyone's opinion or all of them. I don't think about the fact that I might do that. And I even talked a week or so ago about the idea. I might even release it on the channel as content, but the more I think about it, the more I think I don't know that everyone wants to hear when we talk about every card in the set, just maybe the ones that excite me. And we're definitely going to be doing that over the next episode or two, right? The cards that excite me, I'm going to talk about. You don't hear me talk about every single card. But sometimes they're going to be like, "I don't know. I'm not excited about that." But anyway, look, if you listen to this now, go into Discord. Because by the time I post this, it'll be less than 24 hours before I actually start doing theory crafting. So if you've got any great ideas of what I should do with theory crafting, get in there and post the mace app and also go in the door to win. That's cool, too. I just realized now that I've been talking, which I'm happy to do. Don't worry, I'm not vamping out of discomfort. I'm vamping because I enjoy talking. I've just realized that there's still no train coming. That's kind of weird, right? Kind of odd. Why not how long the recording's been going? 41 minutes. I'm going to be late for work. I'm often late for work on Thursday. It's not great to be late for work on a Thursday because I often, like every fortnight, I have a one-on-one with my boss and it's very straightforward. How are you doing? Yeah, it has life gear. Good. Yeah, you, yeah, great. Anything you want to bring up with work? Ah, not really. I'm working on this one at the moment. Oh, yeah, cool. And there's not much. It's really low. I mean, it almost feels like a waste of time. But also if he never gave me the opportunity to have a one-on-one with a peckam's train, I'm going to give him this. So I wouldn't necessarily feel like I had the opportunity to bring things up with him. I sit near him. I can turn and go, "Hey, mate, do you want to have a quick word about something?" And we can, right? He knows to do, but I think he has to offer everyone on the team the opportunity to have a one-on-one away from everyone else in case I do want to raise any issues, talk about anything, that kind of stuff. So, you know, that's fine. It's feels a bit awkward if I may be late on the day that we have that. I'm not going to be late for it, but I need to get the idea. Anyway, look, follow me on Twitch, Twitter, @Youtubadplistagai. Follow the podcast. We'll talk to you on Twitter and come hang out. Just go to discord.me/plistagai. I'm always supposed to go to that and train here. It's always a pleasure to have you join me for my work to work. Good luck, everyone. And everything you do because you're all absolutely bloody legends. I love you all. Well, this train looks cool, isn't it? Ew. Still, I'm going to get off. I'm going to be late. [Music] Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. [Music]
