Hey guys, welcome back to another week of living our crazy life. It's Olivia And we have some massive news. We are moving Yeah a different city well obviously for the different province to different city This is massive for us. We've wanted to move for a long time. This has been like weighing on us heavily for like a year now Yeah, for our years been in the works and we finally started Calling realtors looking at places and we kind of have a couple places we're choosing between right now But we have one preferred place. Yes The only issue is we see our two months out So we have to wait a half months out right now So we have to wait and just fingers cross fingers cross fingers cross. It does not Get rented out already. So yeah, that's stressful I guess we'll start though like why we're moving here and like why we fell in love with where we're moving and It all started actually last fall in October actually we were we were just kind of like in like a True, I guess like a transitional period in our like like lives and we're like, oh, let's just go To Montreal. Yeah, just go just for some fun like right like we are all out for road trips We love doing road trips. So we just like drove down to Montreal and we just It's so comforting. Yeah, I love it and so we just like drove there and we get out and You know the first trip was like wow, it's like really it's different here It's it really is different the cultures different the people are like much nicer It reminded me of like parts in Montreal reminded me of like Europe a little bit Yeah, and so the closer you to Europe That will be my final step And we have been going once a month ever since even sometimes like twice a month We just love it there. So we were talking we thought you know, we really need to get this podcast started We need to get things up and running meet a new chapter in our lives Let's move We decided yeah, we decided to move. I think it was January. We were like What if we like we kind of like joked about it? We're like oh like we should just move here You know, but we were both like laughing and we're like no like we wouldn't you know and then you know It was like February and we're like you know things are kind of like not really great at like home and we're like Let's just fully move here and so we've been planning it It's been in the works. I've been learning my French because you know, I need to know my French So hopefully, you know, it should go okay there. We'll be able to survive we get there. We need to have a job. So Since we've been going there once a month, we have made some connections and met some really great people. So we do have Hopefully a job opportunity there which we're very very Fingers crossed please It is a nightlife industry type of thing again Just because that's where we work now. It's where we have most experience and a lot of people that we met there are So that's exciting. That's where you make your money to yeah for like what we're doing If we need another job, you know Honestly, it's been a little bit stressful though I will say like the months are going by and it's like coming up to it like three like October Yeah, three months and you know like saving the money to move and like Contacting realtors and looking for places It's been like a little bit stressful and we actually didn't even go to Montreal this month And we're not even going until next month because just we've been working working working So yeah, I mean everybody knows like money is definitely a stressor But it's exciting. It's very exciting. We went we drove one day to Across the border to the state to look at furniture for our place You know, we thought we had nothing to do and we said let's just go look at furniture and let's design our dream apartment So we drove over again to the States across the border. We went to We tend different furniture stores look at couches look at lamps with that chairs look at dishes Everything I think it's mostly exciting because we get to design our own place Oh, I like have our own rooms and like our own space and like also for our podcast Like we always have to do our setups and it's so annoying and like when we finally get to have our own set up in our place It's really exciting And like the independence is gonna be amazing like where I can just like leave what I want like not that I can't do that but it's like I Share a house with four different people and it's like a lot, you know, and so I'm excited to just be in my own space Doing my own thing not being like looked out weird or like questioned every single time like walking and walk out of the house You know and like learn how to like cook more meal Yeah, cook more meals. I'm really excited for because when you when you move out and you have to cook for yourself, you know It's like either you cook or you starve, so it's a lot of responsibility And I feel like for the first bit we might not have anything in our fridge Just montakos I love montakos montakos is so ooey gooey mashi I talked about in an episode before but it's like so good Also, just so many signs all around every single like day There's like signs that like we should just like that's meant to be like, you know It's just like ways heavy on you like because I was in between like I'm from the States and I was in between like Should I move back home with my grandma for a while, you know and like get a change of scenery because I knew I'm not gonna make it here like I need I just need peace in my life and like to work on myself fully But then I know I was like thinking between the both of them and like moving back home would be almost a little bit too easy and also like it's not the best if I want to become independent and like You know, it would just be like a cycle of living it would be like I would be probably at peace and like it would be fun But I feel like almost like there's no challenge in that and like I would just get too comfortable And I wouldn't be working on like myself and like growing as a person But like I love visiting home like it's super peaceful for me and like necessary to do like once a month I will be there Let's just talk about our place a little bit like it's like the place is Almost like in the family room and kitchens like studio vibe like the ceilings are beautiful Non-negotiables are non-negotiables for a place was we need Windows we need light Like we do like plants we will have plant star place and also it's very depressing when you live in a place that has no light no windows no The dark and no Sun is so dark is depressing, especially in the winter time. So for us Yes, we need very big windows and a lot of light. I want a nice kitchen because a very nice kitchen I have a chef I do care how the kid I don't like a dirty dingy kitchen because it just feels dirty and not clean to me and I Just want it to be pretty, you know, like I'm growing up. It's my own place I want it to look nice same for her we want a nice kitchen to bedroom with a closet preferably Oh, why is every Beautiful better than the other one is like the smallest window in the corner and it's the size of a shoe box That's not gonna cut it for us. We need equal also. I kind of want a bathtub I'm not the one to take baths, but like that's because like I share a bathroom with so many people Maybe if I had a bath like I don't know I kind of want a bathtub. Yeah, I mean, it's not highless. Oh washer and dryers definitely Yeah, wash your guard because I'm not carrying my laundry down the street in the middle of winter time We are moving in the dead winter But us with the U-Haul truck, I'm so excited. Oh, I cannot wait It's gonna be so exciting. I can't pack up that truck. I'm so excited I actually have to like go into my room and like declutter and get rid of a bunch of stuff It's I'm not bringing more than half the stuff I have with me now There's just memories attached to everything and I just want a fresh start I want everything to be clean because I don't want to get a dirty cluttery room So we have to clean out, you know we're selling some of our stuff right now and then we're gonna just Go and get new stuff, which is exciting We've been going to winners and home sense and looking at you know dishes that we want cutlery. We want Little decoration stuff like that which I think is really fun. Like that's such a a little thing to do It's really exciting We because we both have like the same Kind of style that we like for our dishes and like it's like really exciting also we we We got a blender and then it was a terrible blender. So we had to return it Blender is non-negotiable like that's like my breakfast is Everyday so having a blender that doesn't even blend your food You have to keep shaking it and it smells like burning plastic is not the move But I also think investing into Good quality products that are going to last you especially when you're moving out once your own stuff That's very important because There's no point in buying something that's going to break in three months But because it's cheaper, you know, I don't think that's the best idea, but We also for our apartment need a central location. So we need to be kind of Close to our job where we both do have cars So that's not a problem getting around anywhere, but we want a central location So because I do want to be able to walk exactly. I'm gonna be able to walk places I don't want to feel like I'm you know Half hour drive in a city or something just because we are moving into the city. We're moving out for a reason, you know I don't move into another Also, it's best to just keep my car parked in the winter and just walk to be honest I'm but here's the thing about Montreal is that what I've seen living in like Toronto areas that Not that like I'm saying people in Toronto can drive any better, but Montreal It's either they're driving so slow or like they're just not driving properly and I don't know like for me I like to drive at my speed. I like to be Doing what I want to do when I drive and if you're in my way, it's kind of just like move over to the side They'll just stay there They'll just stay there And then you honk and they just stay there still it's And the parking situation is terrible downtown. So honestly, I would prefer to just keep it in my apartment and walk Yeah, yeah, Montreal parking is is crazy. They have to have permits for everything Which we have permits here, but they're doing the absolute most You'll be circling the block for two hours And I'm that's on like a Sunday or a Monday or two so imagine imagine like on work days On work days, which are you know late night weekends when everyone goes out Imagine trying to find part to spot in your late to work Not gonna happen So yeah, central areas definitely also wood flooring for me. I don't want carpet They just feel dirty I could just get a rug if I want yeah, yeah, I also like kind of either like Not dark dark wood, but darker wood than like lighter or like I don't like yellowy tone No, I hate yellow. I like cool tone. I like a cool tone and I'm just so excited I'm so excited. Another huge thing. I'm just thinking off the top of my head is a bathroom For me a bathroom makes a huge difference We found this beautiful beautiful place and what I tell you every single thing about this place was perfect kitchen bedrooms family room Location price everything was perfect and we looked and we scroll to the next picture And it's a picture of the bathroom. We look at each other. We went No scraps that off. Nope dingy. It looked like like six people died in there Looks like it reeks. It looks like there's just shit in the toilet at all hours. Like I don't it was terrible So that unfortunately took that entire place off our list just because that bathroom So a bathroom does does the I like a clean looking bathroom. That's like a big thing for me. I don't know bathroom is important We have a agreement that I will do the dishes and she will be cleaning the toilets. Yeah, look I I'm all like I will clean the toilet, but it's like I just I the bathroom just like grossed me out. It's like I will clean the toilet. Okay, like if I have to but Like I prefer just not to touch it And I will do the dishes if I have to but she won't like take the drainage out of the thing So like therefore I'm gonna have to just do it. No, I'm not doing the dishes. I for me hmm I have like a A germ thing. It's not it's not for every aspect of like it's literally just the dishes I don't like to touch plates after people have eaten off them. I don't like to watch other people eat It it like yeah, of course is me. Oh, so she's gonna do the dishes. I'm totally going to do the toilet. I don't know why When I'm at her Father's house and we make something he'll come home and he'll be like, you know You're not going anywhere until you clean the drainage out and she's not going to do it So I have to do it and then she pretends that's her that did it Yeah, no, I give you credit sometimes Not recently Yeah, so that's the agreement Yeah Yeah, it's true But I'm I'm very excited to have people over at her houses and have friends over cook for them have game nights We want to be Involved like we pay run at our place. We're gonna spend time at our place But we don't want it to be a lonely place. So we don't want to have people over make friends You know, but we do have one rule that is funny and it's regarding men. Okay, so We had a conversation are are you allowed to bring a man over to come and like Stay in the apartment. Like do you have to let do you have to let the other person know? Like if I wanted to have a guy over what I have to let her know that I was having a guy over Not necessarily you don't need to let me know every time you have a guy I don't really care but like be respectful of like the shared areas You know, like let's not be having you know what on the counters and the couch You're not also you're just like not not the couch, please like this couch is probably really expensive and don't like come on like Yeah, that's it. That's a no cross detailed. So like your room for sure do whatever you want in your room That's your space, right? We both pay rent do what you want have who you want I actually do think that I would tell you if I had someone coming over I think it's just a respect thing of of space, you know If I'm just chilling chilling walking around the house naked or something for example, obviously like Probably not gonna happen, but say for example, I'm just doing something right and This guy I just see this guy walk out of her room like oh, hey, what's up? I just got done in there and I'm like, okay That to me is like, okay. I just want to know if it's Yeah, yeah, we're still each other. No, but like But no, I don't care. I don't care. It's not like a care like half who you want over I'm just so excited to go to the lookout point and just sit there and listen to music and journal like I can't wait to just Have so much freedom to do what I want and like it's so beautiful there like I went in the on a walk there once and it's so pretty and I'm so excited and like I love fall and I love winter time. So like I'm excited that I'm moving in that time Yeah, I think that's going to be Beautiful because I do love winter even though it's cold and it's colder there than it is here. I There at least they have snow here. It's just cold, miserable, gray, slash, it's depressing There there's snow at least so it's beautiful and I think walking at all you know, I think The trees and the past and the look I was it is beautiful and I think we'll be there a lot Just because I'll be there with my mom talk on one hand I have my books in my other hand in my jack guys. Something about me is I Love jackets. I love coats. I don't know what it is like if you look at my closet. I have like I have a comfort thing with coats and like My winter jacket is like my comfort zone and like also my fall jacket Like I don't know how to explain it to you guys like I love jackets I don't know like I just love to put a jacket on and like be warm In my jacket. So she's gonna thrive. I think moving to a new city in your 20s is a very important thing to do It teaches you a lot about Yourself and I think it can be lonely sometimes, you know, you don't have Friends there you don't know anybody you don't have a job yet. You don't have anything it can be scary and I think a lot of people don't do it because they're afraid of all the what ifs what if I can't pay my rent what if I can't get a job what if I don't make friends what if It doesn't work out when I have to go back home and the thing is Is that it will work out for us? I don't know how to explain it We work very hard to be exactly where we are and You know it could get lonely and things might be very difficult for us But it's a risk that we're willing to say yeah, and when my heart doesn't want to be there anymore then I'll move Exactly. I'm not I can't guarantee I'm not moving back to this area. No, I'll never move back home after I leave home That's the thing. No, but we know that Montreal is not And destination for us. It's a stepping stone. We have a lot of places like we said travel is a huge Thing for us and we have a lot of places that we want to go and want to live so for us This is just the first step to something new a new beginning new beginning Like I told you guys I will be on a farm in tuscany, Italy by the time i'm 28 for sure, so What's so funny to me is that when we tell people removing they go. Oh, are you moving together? No, we're just saying that we're moving and then one's going this way i'm going the other Yes, we're moving together. The reason why her and I like go like this together And like we are so close as like friends is because We know when we need to give each other space or like if she's not talking to me. I don't take it personal It's like, okay, she's going through something or something about it She doesn't even have to speak about it and I don't know or like, you know, like We don't need to be like together all the time. We're also very independent people So if she's just like, you know, we don't need to be like, oh where you're going and let me come with you It's it's very much like we can be super independent and like not see each other for like two days and then be like, oh, hey But also like we can we will also like look out for each other like, oh, did you eat today? Like do you want some of the food i'm making? Do you want a smoothie? And that's why I think it's going to work out for us And it's crossed my mind that a lot of people that move in together best friends and stuff Either it makes or breaks the friendship either they stay friends or you know, they fight all the time It doesn't work and i'm not concerned about that for us because exactly we've also lived together for a while For a while before and the thing is we don't fight. Yeah, sometimes we have the most minor Annoyance of each other or we get on each other's nerves or something, but it's not that's like really rarely It's very rare It's very rare because we are calm people and we we communicate communicate and there's nothing to really be upset about You don't take things personally and and we just compliment off of each other So, you know, i'm not really concerned about us getting to a fight and it being a problem We also have our own bedroom. So it's like, okay Exactly and at the end of the day every single Once a week we have to meet up and film a podcast so if there's an issue it's it's You know tuck that in the back pocket because we have work to be done. So exactly exactly We're also planning on potentially working at the same place in Montreal. So Just to start just to start and then you know, we'll see where we end up Everything's going to work out Take this as a sign to Go and move out somewhere by yourself with somebody Leave home. I think it's important to leave your hometown and move out into the world Go out and just explore because if it doesn't work out, you can always just go back to where you started Exactly, but you might as well try it's never a waste. It's never a waste to try and exactly It's like stressful and exciting and everything all at once and But i'm like so excited even if i'm sleeping on just my little tiny mattress on the part before like We're starting from scratch. We're starting from scratch. We don't we don't have our own furniture Really, I mean we do have some furniture, but we don't i don't even have a bed I don't have a bed because I share with my 11-year-old sister And yeah, they throw my bed so it's just literally a mattress top around top of another mattress We're excited to continue this journey with you guys and Like when you see the title we're moved in like that will be really exciting Anyways, we hope you guys enjoyed this episode this week. We'll see you next wednesday. Have a great day or morning Bye
