In late June, Naomi and her co-host pal James P. White had a trip planned to teach kids light saber combat and see Paula Abdul & New Kids On The Block in California. WestJet abruptly canceled our flight due to the mechanics strike, so we got in the car and DROVE there.

We tell all about our adventure, joined by guest Rebecca, our host in her lovely home!

Casinos, bedbugs, Chick Fil-A, Cracker Barrel, Jimmy's Joe Mac encounter, bickering, meeting Paula Abdul, LucasFilm, The Golden Gate Bridge, role playing meet and greets, 4th of July, and Canada Day on the road.

Fuck You, WestJet.

All right, well, this is also an episode of Dopeness Stalja as well, and we knew when we were going to nice fart. Have we actually started the podcast? I could edit that, but no. We were going to go on this adventure before all the chaoticness ensued. We said, "We'll do a bunch of video and do fun stuff while we're down there. Probably do a recording." That was the original plan all along. The original plan was to fly to San Francisco. We were going to be explore the city a bit, rent a car, drive through a wine country, check out some Star Wars stuff, go over to our friend Rebecca and Tyrone's house. We were going to go to some new kids concerts. We were going to have a great Fourth of July party. We were going to spend Canada a day, of course, on the first originally in San Francisco. This was the plan. On the bridge. Yeah, we bought a big pile of Canada flags, and our goal was that you and I were going to go out onto the Golden Gate Bridge on Canada Day, just in our Canadian finest, handing out flags and wishing everybody a happy Canada Day. And yeah, that didn't work. Well, what happened was WestJet, the airline, there's a few airlines in Canada, but the two main ones are WestJet and Air Canada, and WestJet decided, their mechanics decided to go on strike. They were arbitrated by the government to not go on strike, but they did it anyway. I'm trying to let you talk. Fight me, WestJet. Fight me, WestJet. Sorry, my bet. But WestJet only ended up going on strike for two days, and those were the days that we were going on trip. They gave us less than 12 hours notice from the time we checked into our flights already. I got the notice around what 10 p.m., the day before we were supposed to fly. It was supposed to leave at 9 AM the next day. So we drove. Well, at first I was kind of joking. You drove. Yeah, you didn't drive shit. You drove me nuts. I'm just kidding. Yeah, just joking. But no, seriously, like they didn't offer any solutions. I was had the phone on hold with them eight hours straight from the time I left work. So the time we came to my place, started packing up my stuff. And I said, well, if we're driving, we might as well take big suitcase, store everything and whatever. It's a road trip. Then we accidentally hung up, remember that, and then we made it all away from Edmonton to Calgary. And then we kind of gave up. This past Calgary, probably, Nantan-ish, somewhere in there, the town of Nantan, somewhere around there. I said, fuck it, and I hung up. And you know what, though, I think no one was answering the phones because I've learned in the recent days here that they just had their call center turned off. They just turned it all off instead of actually dealing with the problem. So this podcast, I'm sorry, but I am going to put WestJet on blast for having shitty customer service. This used to be one of the best airlines ever and I swore by WestJet. Now it's just like, oh, I cannot believe they're not taking any accountability for what happened. So what you just said is news to me. I had no idea they did that. Yeah. I figured it because- I read someone else's story. I figured it because there was no way we would be sitting on hold for that long, like five hours. Mm-hmm. No, it was eight hours we were on hold. Yeah. No, but then- Yeah. All together. Yeah. No answer. Nothing. So yeah, then we'll get to the West, rest of the WestJet story later, I suppose. It just makes me mad. But I was like, okay, you know what? You don't get to go on trips like this. You've been really looking forward to it. I was excited for you to go on this trip, you know, and obviously we were excited to see the girls and go and hang out and go to these concerts. So said fuck it, got in the car, just after midnight, the day before we were supposed to leave and started driving on a- What? Go ahead. But so that people actually know, so the people that we went down to see are your friends that are new kids, their blockheads, you hung out with them for years. Over to COVID, we became friends online. Yeah. So I've met them online only, and I was so looking forward to meeting them all. We were a back guy and, you know, the whole gang, and for the WestJet to totally mess up our trip, kind of, it did mess up a lot of our stuff. Like we had a schedule, we were going to go to Lucasfilm when they were open, we were going to do all these things. But we made it work, there was a lot of work on your end having to drive from Edmonton to California being the only driver. And that I respect is, I was kind of annoying you, because I kept falling asleep every time you played a podcast. But the thing is, it was a fun trip, like we made the best of it. Like, we saw things that we wouldn't have seen if we would have flown. Yeah, that's true. It set aside some of my curiosities about what things looked like on that specific type of road trip, you know? And like dinosaurs with fake poop underneath them, if that was in Conott, is that what it was? Shoto. You keep on making up these towns that don't exist or aren't even -- Shoto, or Shoto -- Shoto, Montana. Shoto, okay, sorry. He keeps saying Conott, I'm like, what the fuck is Conott? Okay, I threw in a man. You basically changed the entire word, but yes, okay. But Shoto. Shoto, yes. And we stopped there, that was our first stop, and we learned things about traveling through Montana, don't in a car. But they do have gas stations that are kind of open if you have credit cards. Okay, let's tell people from -- let's go back to getting to Montana, because if you're leaving Alberta, Canada's a huge country, it takes forever to drive. It took about what, six hours to get -- seven hours to get to the U.S. border from Edmonton. And I'm a night owl, so starting at midnight going to seven wasn't too hard for me. Not too bad. I mean, it kind of sucks when you're driving at night and everything's dark and that's kind of hard. But I was all right. And the sun was starting to come up by the time we got to the U.S. border. We got to -- we followed the GPS, and it took us to a place called Babes, Montana as the border crossing, which was right next to Glacier National Park. Yeah. So I had no idea where the fuck we were. No, I had no idea either, because I was kind of figuring we were going to go through Milk River and into like my neck of the woods, but no, we were way west. We were way west. We were still trying to pick a path that avoided being like up in the mountains too crazy, like, because I just didn't know the power of my four-cylinder car. And the fires and all that kind of stuff too. That's true. Yeah. So we wanted to kind of just take a route that was fairly fast, but not right through the mountains at that time. And so it was a good route. It was a little abandoned. And that was the weird thing. It was like there was no civilization. Border crossing opened at 7 a.m. And we pulled up at 6.50. Yes. We were just lucky and we were like, okay, this is weird. And then I was like, well, maybe if, you know, we'd already been thinking about trying to find a hotel soon. Right? Actually, we tried all the way down, like from about Lethbridge-ish down, but it's just no one had any late night check-ins. It was all, if they were no vacancy- No vacancy is no late night check-ins. There was just nothing available. Yeah. Nothing, nothing available all the way down. So I was sorry to get tired, but I was still okay. I had you looking up Googling hotels on the side. See, I've put you to work doing something while I was driving. To keep me awake. Not to keep you awake, but just so like you were doing something helpful. Right? That too. So I wasn't keeping you awake. Besides giving me the wrong directions several times. That was one time. It was not one time. It happened like at least three times. Two. Yeah. And I'd be like, that's not where we fucking turned or some shit like that, but it's okay. This is why we were driving each other crazy. Okay. So you were looking for places to stop for the night. And I was pouring up and yeah, it didn't work until we finally showed up to Shoto. And they let us they were good. Their policy was normally not to let anyone check in that early, but I'm going to pull up a map on the side so we can give shout outs to these places that treated us really, really well. Because they were they were good and they were nice and and they were nice. If we nine a.m. we pulled up at nine a.m. wasn't it something like that? And they're like, yeah, we have room for you nine, nine 30 something like that. Yeah. Usually we don't have check in this early, but we have room for you. We care. We care is the feeling I got that we left the next day at four a.m. You're totally skipping like the part where we did stuff there. No, we did stuff there, but I'm just saying I'm sorry. My brain goes different directions than you. I know it's, which is pretty funny. It's pretty funny. That's why we were bicker at each other. It's hilarious. Okay. I'm trying to find Choto on the map because I want to give a shout out to this place. Choto had some really, I mean, it was a small, tiny, tiny town, right, but it had some cool spots in it. We went to that restaurant. Remember how the restaurant and we were eating and we wanted to get beer, but they were too close to a church that was Choto. That was in Choto. So the restaurant we went to had delicious food. You could tell a good restaurant by the fact that it was lined up with locals trying to get in and when you were sitting there waiting for your food, your food didn't just come out in 15 minutes, we were waiting a good half hour or more for our food after we ordered it. Yeah. And this place was called the log cabin cafe in Choto, Montana. So props to you guys for a decent meal. It was wicked. Right? Well, it was, it was, I actually don't remember because I remember or I ordered. It was a pasta or something. Was it like a chicken parmesan or something, some kind of a pasta dish? I think it was chicken par. Yeah. And I had the like roast beef and mashed potatoes, a gravy kind of open-faced sandwich. Yeah. It was so good. But you, like as you said, you could tell it's a good restaurant when locals are waiting half an hour in the lobby waiting to get a table. And they, and they, it was weird because it was like seeing actual American salt to the earth like these ranchers and stuff. I saw these people that looked like, like complete ranchers, just like stuff we see on TV, even though we live in Alberta, which is like Texas of Canada. It was really like, whoa, this is different. It kind of looked like Taborites, but I'm just saying, okay. I had a different Alberta experience than you have. Yes. I grew up in small rural Alberta, southern Alberta, Tabor. It's kind of red-nackish. But yeah, yeah, we couldn't order, it was a dry restaurant. Couldn't get booze there. That's fine. We just wanted to have a nice dinner. That's what we're officially an American house. You can officially go to a convenience store and get booze, which you had a hard time getting used to. Yes. Because you're like, okay, we need to go get booze and I'm just trying to find a liquor store and you'll just find a grocery store for crying out loud. You get looking for liquor stores and I'm like, you don't need to. Because you kept turning on me and I'm like, my brain doesn't go that way. I was looking for a liquor store and you go to a gas station and it has beer. You don't want to have that here in Canada. Yeah, and we chatted up the gas station attendance a little bit. Oh, it's nice. We got our beer from there. The moosterol. Moosterol from Big Sky. Yes, I got the moosterol. Big Sky Brewing Company in Montana. Yes. It sounds good, right? Pretty decent beer, hey? Yeah, it was good. Yeah. So, you know, we crashed pretty hard that night and we were like, good, we're going to be up and Adam at sunrise because we're going to drive 16 hour straight to Rebecca's house. Exactly. The name of the hotel, we stayed at. That was so gracious to us and got us a beautiful room was the stage stop in. Yes. So kudos to you guys. Thank you for taking care of us. Wasn't that the place that I ended up going to the casino and then paying for all our drinks that's the way home. Is that on the way? Okay. Sorry. That's okay. Don't worry. I got a timeline. I've got this figured out. Cheers, Jimmy. Cheers. It's my beer. It's my beer. Big enough. Oh, it should be bigger. Everything should always be bigger, but thanks, Jimmy. We bicker like siblings, it's hilarious. Yeah. All right, bright and early, Canada Day morning. Canada Day morning, we were supposed to wake up in San Francisco. Did not happen. Right. Right. Which is fine. So we, uh, fuck the timeline. I know what actually happened. We spent a day in Choto preparing for a big drive, right? We drove and then every place we stopped for food or whatever, you were giving out a Canadian flags to people. We're like, there's still a way to do this Canada Day thing. People are going to think we're fucking nuts and I do not give a shit. It's fine. We went to the burger place, uh, Culver's, Culver's Butterbirds. Culver's. Culver's. Culver's. Culver's. Culver's. Culver's. Culver's. And then, yeah, Dunkin' Donuts and you gave the guy a Canadian flag. A Canadian flag. It's where it was. He was the one who was the most excited about it. So cute. He's just this young kid. He was just like, Oh, wow. He was in Nevada. Yes. Yeah. He was in Nevada. So he's like pretty far away from Canada. So he was like, Wow. And then the first Canadian flag I gave away was to a road construction crew. There was a blocked highway and, uh, some, it was probably about eight in the morning. And they were pulling the pillars off of the lane so we could go through and open it for the morning. Cause I was like off. Fuck. Are you telling me this road's closed? Fuck. No, any other way to go. And then this is where GPS said to go then as we were going through there, clearing them off and you gave them the, uh, yeah, I was happy Canada had him in the flag. He's like, Oh, is it, is it Canada? Well, we have Fourth of July and just three days and like, yep, yep. That's how it works. It was sweet, it was pretty sweet. It was nice having those little interactions. Yes. And it kind of made our Canada day better because our Canada day was like not turning out the way we expected not at all. Mm hmm. So where was some of the other place, whatever, where all did we eat that day? I think we had breakfast at like, uh, it was like a Carl's junior. Oh, hardies. Hardies. Yes. Because it had the Carl's junior logo, but it was a hardies and we don't have hardies in Canada, but we have Carl's junior. It's exact same logo. Mm hmm. So we had a decent little breakfast on the road, you know, it was all drive through is because there was no way we had time to stop anywhere. No. I don't think we actually did a stop, dying in on the way down on the way back we did. We took our time coming back, but yeah, on the way down, it was a, it was basically like we need to get there before, before too late. So so that so that people know the next day, like we got there and then the next day, which was basically nine hours after we got there, you were on your way to your first concert. Mm hmm. Exactly. What are some of, what are some of the things you noticed about driving through Montana and Idaho and all that rural like country backwards type of, first of all, I want to say the scenery is beautiful. It's gorgeous. A lot of hills, but the thing is, is they didn't have a lot of gas stations, but one thing that we've learned on our way down that if a gas station is a gas station, you can still buy fuel use if you have the credit card to, because we stopped it. If it's, if the gas stations closed, you could still buy fuel. Yes. If they have the pump with the credit card access, yeah, which was something I didn't know. I thought this place was called closed because everything looked like a hicktown. Yeah. So you wouldn't think it was open. We almost ran out of gas. Yeah. Pretty close. After that, we stopped for gas at every opportune moment where I was, if I went past a half tank, I stopped for gas because we just didn't know. We saw a gas station that was open. Oh, how's our gas? Let's put some in there. Well, and especially when you realize you're in the middle of fucking nowhere and you don't really know how long it is to the next actual town that's got, so it's got something open. But Montana is very sparse in that in that way, like, yeah, there's not a lot there. So it's like Saskatchewan. Yeah. I mean, it's beautiful, but it's, it's beautiful, but there's just not that many places. Like I felt like we didn't even really end up in any kind of a city until we hit Twin Falls, Idaho. But one thing, one thing I liked about when we first entered was going into the US and the same with them coming here, they have snacks and treats and candy and stuff that we don't have and we have stuff that they don't have and that is cool. Like I got to try some, by the way, I bought that pickled sausage. Yeah. Not good. You never. Oh, do you did end up eating it? I did. So what? Okay. It was in a bag. It was, it was in the bag. Yeah. No, it did. No, it did. Did you eat it? It was soggy. No, I had a cup of bites and I'm like, I can't do this. Like it was, it was kind of soggy. It it very vinegary. It was. Like, you know how you buy those canned sausages? Oh, you've never done it. You've never shopped a dollar. I don't, I don't buy my meat at dollar stores. So now, um, but it was like a soggy sausage. Yeah. It was a soggy sausage with vinegar and yeah, I, it not good. But I had, but I had to try it. It was one of those things. You can't get it here. You have to try it. There's nothing wrong with trying new things. That's this important part of life. I'm glad that you tried it. Wasn't a fan, but never do it again. Well, Twin Falls is the first place, Twin Falls, Idaho, where we pulled over for long enough to hit up the Walmart. Right? Yeah. What do we buy at the Walmart? We knew we were heading to the desert. That's actually where I got the pickled sausage. Right. We knew, and we got, we knew we were heading into the desert. So the fact that we went on this trip without actually checking the car and having a tune up and making sure everything was fine was kind of concerning, right? Yeah. So it was your great idea, by the way, I'm going to give you all credit for this to pick up water as we're about to enter, like, first of all, the temperatures were fucking crazy hot and oh, yeah, it was insane. And what if something happened in the radiator overheated or whatever? So we bought a huge, like, 40 pack of water bottles and that way we had water to drink and water if we needed it for the car. Smart. Yeah. Yes. You're welcome. And by the way, Twin Falls, Idaho, the Snake River runs through it and it's got a really gorgeous canyon. Over that bridge we drove them over. Oh, yeah. It was so cool. But they also, like, remember, because that was the one that we drove by and they, but they also had that huge mine, um, off to the side as well, which we want to add, yeah. Was that cute? It is the mine. The mine. Yeah. And it's so crazy. Cool-looking. Yeah. Mm-hmm. But, but yeah, it was, you know, one thing that I have to take from this trip is we got to see things that we wouldn't have seen flying. Mm-hmm. And, and we tested our friendship a few times. Hey, that's fine. That's fine. You know what? I knew no matter what, even if we argued, we never argued that bad. No. Because we would just drive each other insane. There was moments where I'm like, I need a fucking break for a minute. Just give me a fucking shit. Yes. And, so, so we made it, we made it through, we drove through, it was Reno, and then we, we were driving to, uh, to Santa California and then we got there and the, the emotions hit you a little bit. Yeah. Because you finally got there. It was, it was very taxing. Hey, hold on. Are you forgetting, are you rushing ahead again? Uh, maybe. Yeah, you are. You're so rushing ahead. Hey, sorry. Oh. I don't, I don't have an outline in front of you. You're, you're already in California. You're already at Rebecca's house. Because you, you just finished saying that we went through Nevada. No, I didn't say we went through Nevada. Yeah, we were about to enter Nevada. We're about to enter Nevada. I have things to say about Nevada. It's Nevada. Not Nevada. I said Nevada after I said Nirvana. I caught myself on that tree. I know. Okay. So, sorry. There's going to be a lot of editing on this podcast. Are you sure? I should just leave it all in. Why not? I have a six liter beer here. Damn right, T.D.U. We entered Nevada and I didn't know, no, here, what I pictured Nevada to be in my brain and what it actually is quite different. Like, all I pictured is was desert and like tumbleweeds blowing by and, and whore houses everywhere. But I think that's a lot more further south than we were. We were a lot. Mm hmm. We were north, right? Yeah. I was very directionally challenged because you kept calling me out because I'm like, yeah, we got to go. Yeah, no, because knowing north and south didn't go well for me back there. No, and that's okay. The weird thing to me is like when we crossed the border instantly into Nevada, the time changed to Pacific and that doesn't make sense to me because we're headed south. But anyway, that's what happened and we entered a town called jackpot. Great name, right? Jackpot. Perfect. Remember jackpot? Mm hmm. Because as soon as you get to jackpot, all of a sudden, there's casinos everywhere. There's a little bit, it's not a huge place, it's tiny, but first thing you see is casinos. Yeah. Mm hmm. But there's a lot more because like even not just in Nevada, there was casinos at some of the truck stops and stuff throughout our route that wasn't in Nevada that had the VLTs, but not in Nevada. They had all the card games and all that kind of stuff too. Yeah. No, it was pretty sweet. I mean, I wish we'd gone seeing a brothel, but we didn't have time for brothels. No, we had a mission. We had to get down to see new kids. Driving to Nevada was pretty cool. I mean, it's pretty as well. It has way more mountains than I expected. It was a little, I mean, it was dry as fuck, but it also seemed to have a little more trees and all that than I expected. Remember when you came across that fire on the side of the road? Was that in Nevada? Yep. It was before we got to Reno. I think it was like halfway between like jackpot and Reno, there was, there was a grass fire. Yeah, there was a grass fire on the side of the road and it was kind of in the middle that like there was still a lot of sunlight, but it was, it was nuts. Yeah. Lucky, like you could see the smoke for miles. It was, it was so close to the car too, it was a little scary, right? It was basically in the ditch right next to the highway. Okay. So then, and then we, after we passed that, we finally get to Reno, a place I've always wanted to see what that looked like. Hey, you know. They should do a trip to actual Reno to go take a look, like, like actually go into the town because I can think of so many other things I'd rather do, but okay. No, but because the thing is, is you're on the highway and there's, there's these like walls, like not quite walls, but you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, where you can actually see into the town where it, like you're on the highway and there's these meridians up really high where you're not really driving through Nevada, you're, or sorry through Reno, you're like, yeah, it's, you're, you're just going through like a freeway. It's a freeway highway through Reno, the interstate, right? You're going through the interstate eighty through Reno and that's all right. The interstate eighty is a cool highway actually. Once we get to Reno, you are entering California. And this is like that part of the highway is so scary because it was getting dark out. I didn't know where I was and it was very windy and twisty and going downhill hard. And you were right, but right behind semi trucks, you had a semi truck in front, semi truck in back and you, and, and it was freaky construction and it was like we literally went down hill the entire way. My brakes really, really got a good workout. And then I was like this person, but this time I was shaking. My nerves were shot. All the cafe, I copy I drink and was killed like fucking making me insane. And I literally wanted to cry because I've been driving for 15 hours and every time, every time I said something that didn't make sense. What do you, what are you talking about? Yeah, but then can we, can we jump to Roseville now? Absolutely we can because at this point, we ended up finally arriving in Roseville with the home of our good friend, Rebecca, our good friend Rebecca's home. We finally pulled up in front of her home and Tyrone and her, were there waiting for us with open arms? Hi, Jimmy. Hi, Jimmy. Hi, Jimmy. Hi, Rebecca. So Jimmy, do you like, do you like that? Right at the right part of the conversation, because we, we just got to the point where we showed up at your house. Oh, I was so excited when you guys finally got here. Yeah. Yes. And, and then Naomi kind of lost her shit a little bit, uh, I was like shaking, crying. I'm like, I believe we did this. You guys had gone through a lot to get here. Yeah. It was a long time. So long time being close together in a car is, yes, thousands and thousands of dead bugs on my car. All the, all of America's finest bugs dead on my car. Oh, you know, the best thing is, is we were able to find your house because you were the only house in California that had a Canadian flag on, on, on the garage. So you knew exactly which house it was. Oh, well, it's the host of the Canadian flag. Well, as soon as I run, heard you guys are coming, he bought the flag. So most people in Canada, in California have no idea where Canada is. Well, they know it's north north. Mm hmm. Congrats. Yeah, I have never experienced such incredible hospitality as you in Tyrone and how you made everyone feel so welcome in your home. And we had an amazing time and it made everything completely worth all the craziness getting there. So thank you to both you and Tyrone for that. You're so welcome. And, and I'm a huge fan of your kids, by the way, I, I just out, so we just make you sleep outside. No, no, no, no, I was just saying how great your kids were. Oh, my kids are great. Yes. Thank you. They take after their mother. Okay. See up here in Canada, we don't sleep outside much and then, and with the fact that I got a sleep outside and I didn't have to need a blanket or nothing and I just, I mean, a pillow and, and you wake, and you wake up in the, you wake up in the morning and you're like getting sunburned because like you don't have that up here in Canada. But then not heat. Yes. Fun. We, we do have fun. Yeah. Just, you know, on certain special events, we have some fun. No. I did. Fun. Oh, son. I thought I said fun. No, no, I know you can have fun. Wherever you go. I know. Yeah. Yeah. That is not a question. No, son, coming down sunburns. Oh, because I felt I was getting a bit of a sunburn when I started waking up in the morning. Yeah. That's because the sun was right on you. Yes. But then we, and then hanging out with your kids and let's say we're fighting with Elliot and, and then wanting over Star Wars, Star Wars with Carter and like, yeah, it was, it was fun. He really thought you were cool and that's pretty awesome because Carter doesn't like anybody. So the fact that he did like you means a lot. Yeah. You should feel really good about yourself. But there was a couple of times I don't nerd at him and he goes, really? And then he looked it up and he goes, you're right, you know, cause usually he's the one with all the knowledge as far as Star Wars goes and to have somebody that knew more than him was like, whoa, really without without having my phone in my hand going. Yeah. Oh, this reminds me of something I have to bring up from the road trip. Jimmy. Oh, I was trying to pick podcasts that you would like to listen to. Oh, not just me. Yeah. So I picked this one from, I'm not going to say which one it was because I don't want them to feel bad, but it was about the Phantom Menace. Oh, very episode one. Oh, and she was saying how it was the worst Star Wars movie ever. Nope. Nope. That is not what she was saying. That is what I heard. He was describing with facts, how it performed and some facts about the production of the movie and you were losing your shit, you yelling at the fucking podcast being like, that's not true. You like freaking out and I'm like, do you want me to turn this off? Because all he's doing is making you mad and I wanted you to enjoy it and you're like, no, no, no, let it play. Let it play. Let it play. And I'm like, okay, fine. I let play. And then you're like, oh, you get no angry again. She was saying stuff that wasn't true, but what was it? I don't, I can't even remember it now, but it's just, and I'm like, oh, I'm like, you know what, Jimmy, I'm just going to turn this off because you're annoyed. No, we don't know. We're going to listen to it. And then I just bitched about it after. So did you actually listen to the whole thing? Yes. Are you? Because it was only a half an hour of our 22 hour drive. Yes. You know, different feelings happening in that half hour, I guess, than other times. You know, at least, and least I wasn't falling asleep and snoring, like the other podcast that you were playing. But were the other ones about Oh, no, no, she was just doing podcasts about everything. And then your podcast, my type of podcast, maybe Jimmy might like this one and then he's like sleeping. And then I'll be like, if I play music, if I play music, then he was awake and was interesting. It was just interesting. Nice. But then, okay, so we just wanted to also, you know, make it clear that Jimmy chose to sleep outside. Yes. Yes. No. Yeah. A hundred percent. You did not make him sleep outside. No. But I found it comfortable outside, actually, really nice out there, it just gets really, really hot. Yeah. But it's just, I, but the thing, the thing is though, is I don't sleep long. Like I, like I usually four or five most six hours. And then so the sun's up. And then Naomi loses her ring in the swimming pool and then, yeah, because like, I was trying to wind down, my nerves were shot. You'd think I'd just fall asleep, but no, my nerves were shot. I had to have some drinks and I'm like, you were like, yeah, let's swim. Okay. Cool. Luckily you came to a house where we stay up late or not mourning people. It was very enjoyable staying up, having some beers and chats at the pool. Was that the night you stayed up for like six with Tyrone in the pool or is that the second night? No. That was the first night. That was the first night. That was the first night. I think it was like four or five. Okay. Some of those are coming up. Yeah. Four or five. Okay. Then I lost my ring because then the next day is when I saw the ring shining at the bottom of the pool. No. July 4th. So the ring shining at the bottom of the pool and that's when it went through like three days on the bottom of the pool or four days. Wait, when did you actually get there? Two days. I don't know. We actually got the ring back when we were done doing the concert. So it was later. You're right. It was later. So it was like two days later. Yeah. But it just sat there in the bottom pool and it just stayed there the whole time because you know Tyrone went swimming, I'm sure. He tried to go down and get it. But the problem was, is that we didn't have the pool goggles at that time. So I wouldn't be able to see it without the goggles. Yeah. Later when we got the glass out of the pool a few days later. Oh my gosh. We still found glass in the pool. Like after? Yeah. Days later. Like within a week later, we were swimming around like a brown bottle. Yeah. Because beer bottle, I think it was that he dropped, right? Was it that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was a beer bottle. It was me. Right. I had nothing to do with it. That was all my brother. We can't wait to see this. In his drunk business. He ain't drunk. He's my brother. Yeah. He was drunk and my brother. No. He will change the lyrics a little. I'd have to see it a little. It's he ain't heavy. He's my brother. Yeah. But. He was drunk and he's your brother. Wait. So yeah. You ready? So you came to my house. You went swimming. You went swimming. The next day. Finally went to bed. Yes. Lots are day number one. And that was in Wheatland. That's right. Hey, Jimmy and Tyrone's hanging out with like the dude's day. And then. Yes. And then doing Jedi training after that. You guys went to Total Wine, right? Yeah. We went to the liquor store where he spent more on booze than I have last year. But yeah. That's what we do here. That's for for that. And that was for for the July and you almost ran out. Did you not see how much we drink? I mean, we have a bar and then we have backups and backups of backups. No. No, I know. I was I was there. I remember a moment in modens. Yeah. But yeah, the cooler. Definitely like the alcohol here. So. Yeah. I'm going to have a shot. I'm having a shot of Rump Chada to enjoy this moment. We actually were just at Total Wine and we saw that there and Tyrone goes, Oh, look. It's what Naomi was shooting. This is still the same bottle. And because it's a pretty big bottle, right? So I just have a shot here and there when we do zooms. Oh, wait. So I should have a shot too. I'll be like that. You should. Yeah. So Jimmy, part of your main mission on this trip was to teach Elliot how to battle you with a lightsaber Jedi, Jedi fight tactics, you know, all that good stuff, right? So tell me about when you initially, you know, met Elliot and it was time to learn how to train him to be the Jedi that he is. So I keep forgetting like it's it's funny. I've been a little person my entire life. And sometimes I kind of forget that, you know, it's it's fun for a young a young kid to a young one or whatever they're called. No, no, but to to totally destroy an adult. So like I was teaching him all these techniques, but then he was using his speed, the like, like Elliot had more energy than I could even think about. And so I'm teaching I'm teaching Elliot how to use a lightsaber. I'm teaching him all these techniques and he's running in and then swing it and then running out and I'm like. So I understand I get that like and I'm sitting there and I'm like, I'm 50 this year and I'm sitting there and I'm half his size and I'm sitting there going, I'm using proper technique. He's just running in going well, that's what kids do. I know. Also you're there to train him. I know, but he just wanted to defeat me. You know what he was using Jedi mind tricks on you. And so he was like doing that so you couldn't follow. No, it hadn't, but that wasn't the purpose of the training and the training was to teach him the techniques, not for him to beat the shit out of mention, sort of little person. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Get that. I just, again, I haven't been a children in a long, long time and I children. Yes. Exactly. And so, so we finally on the 4th of July, like sort, we're jumping ahead because that's okay. We'll go back into, we're jumping into the lights, everything. So it's like 127,000 degrees outside, I'm standing on the concrete with bare feet. And I feel like I could smell bacon. Yeah. So now I put on shoes and the goal of this match was for him or me to put one of us in the pool. Either he was going in the pool or I was. And I ended up going in the pool, but yes, and at one point, you're like, you kicked your ass hard. Oh, yeah. But again, more energy and earlier in the day with our old balls couldn't handle it. But earlier, earlier in the day when I was sober, he didn't want to fight me, but then I was five beers in and he's like, okay, let's do this. And I'm like, he knows, dude, he knows he's got drunk parents. So. Yeah. You know, he would just strike. Keeps mild. So him and I are fighting and you're like, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, yeah, I promise. I'll hear we kill your kid. And then then you're like, no, no, no, and then, yeah, I probably was not. I don't remember what I was calling you for, but I don't even know what you were calling me. Probably not worried about the good news is I put my shoes on, jumped in the pool and my shoes just pulled me under. But I'm sure that smells really good after that. They smell better. Oh, really? It must have been the chlorine. It's a salt water pool, but it wasn't so wonderful. Yeah. Oh, but, but the shoes I was wearing were Crocs, which are mostly rubber anyway. Okay. Okay. That's good. I probably dried out quickly outside because it was so hot. Yes. I mean, that was when we were having record temperatures for like so many days in a row. I swear it was like, Canada and Minnesota is all coming in. I'm going to give them heat. We got it. We got it. We go in spades, man. Hold my beer. I've never thought back home, they're all like, it's 30 degrees. Wait. Oh, no. You don't fucking know people. Oh, it was 44 degrees Celsius on 4th of July when when we went to go get the oil change in your car and we had to we had to turn off the air conditioning. It was like, I need to windshield washers on my face. Like it was just going like it was just and like, we were using napkins. We were, we were using napkins. We were like drip drip, but also, cause I was getting extra service done. I was getting full service because I had prepared the car in anyway for this trip. So to get home safe, they're like, I'm like, guys, what do you recommend without ripping me off and it was kind of like they were, this was actually, we're going to get to that part. Actually, we're already there. I got to give a shout out to that fucking place, man. We were in Rockland. Was it? Were we in Rockland? That's right. Yeah. And the name of the, you know what, I'm going to add it in later because I don't remember the name of the place. Was it? We've been giving shout outs to everywhere. We got good service from and we want to tag all these places because we want to make it a positive experience. So I'm going to look at that. But this was the best service I've ever had by any mechanics, like unreal, unreal. They took good care of us. Everything that they hit, they're like, okay, you're, you're here. Do you want this done? Do you need this done? Like, like this is what you're at. You can make it back just fine without it. Yeah. Yeah. They're like, we recommend this, but you will make it home without it. Oh, that was nice. That kind of thing. Which I appreciate it. We're being nice to the Canadians. Okay. Well, I think they listened to our story and they're like, okay, we got you. So if we're doing shout outs to, you know, people that need shout outs, I think we should do the Rebecca bed and breakfast because like, if you're a new kids fan and like every new kids fan that was part of the group was living in one part of that house or the other. Yeah. I know there was so many good sleeping spaces. I love it. It was, it was really full. And now we even have another space in the playroom because Elliot got a recliner chair from my parents house. My mom's all recliners. So he spent in sitting in that all the time. So now there's even another place for people to sleep all those. I mean, if they can sleep in a recliner, I was, I was sleeping in a garden chair, like it was. Yeah. The lounge chair. Yeah. But that was not really comfortable actually. I mean, I'm on them. I haven't slept through the night in one or on one, but I have taken naps. It is really comfortable. Let's remind period of animals, but I didn't think animals could get in your yard because you're fenced all the way around, aren't you? We are fenced, but that doesn't mean there's not ones that climb up the fence. Okay. Now you tell me why there's open areas around us, like field area, what kind of animals are we talking about here? What have you seen? I just saw a skunk on my camera run across my front yard, a big ass skunk. They're just cute and, but they're obviously stinky, but they're so cute. You know what? They are cute, but you don't want to see one running around your yard. Are they considered pests? Do they dig? I have no clue, I have no clue. But it's just I wouldn't want to be sprayed by one. No, no, but I don't think that would be get my yard, my backyard, I don't know. So, I don't know how that works. After these messages, we'll be right back. How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll Center of a Tootsie Pops? I don't know. I always end up biting. Ask Mr. Fox for he's much clever than I. Mr. Fox, how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll Center of a Tootsie Pops? Why don't you ask Mr. Turtle for he's been around a lot longer than I. Me? I bite. Mr. Turtle. How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll Center of a Tootsie Pops? I never made it without biting. Ask Mr. Rowell for he is the wisest of us all. Mr. Rowell, how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll Center of a Tootsie Pops? A good question. Let's find out. One. A two. A three. A three. If there's anything I can't stand, it's a smart owl. How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll Center of a Tootsie Pops? The world may never know. Let's go back to, so we covered the training of the young Padawan. Yes. While you were training him, we were going to our first new kids concert of that time in Wheatland, California. What was the name of the amphitheater again? Toyota? Yeah. The amphitheater. I like that place. That was great. Yeah. And we got to see my niece there, and she helped us find things at the end, and she works. She gave us that big block of ice at the end. We had a big block of ice. What's in on you? Is that a drunkie? Maybe. There was a lot of drinking involved this week. Oh, yes. There was extra drinking, just because the Fourth of July, we tend to drink a lot anyway, and Tyrone's on vacation always that week, so I would have been drinking a lot anyway. My highlights of that day were obviously, I had a meeting greet with Paula Abdul that day. That was so cool. It really loved you, right? So how it went down, it was very well organized. There was probably about 15 of us to meet her, and they explain to us how things are going to go ahead of time, so nobody's surprised. Oh, that's another shout out. Shit, what's this pumpkin name? He took such good care of us, and he made the experience so amazing, so I hope he stays with Paula through all of her meet and greets on her towards this year, but I'll edit that in later. But yeah, he took his backstage, and the backstage there were her meet and greet tent was set up, had the cool background and his camera and stuff, but it was literally backstage so they said, "Listen, you might see a new kid, you might see all kinds of things happening back there, and that's okay, because sometimes she'll jump in on their meet and greets and vice versa. We don't know." We didn't see a new kid, and that's fine, because it was so cool meeting Paula. Hini is the person I have, well, besides Jimmy, that I've met. No, she is very... She's tiny. She's tiny. She's five feet tall. Definitely the definition of petite. Jimmy, he's the photographer than you. And I'm not petite. And I'm like Tyrone, where people go like this. Her waist is the size of my wrist. She is beautiful. Like, 62 years old, you would not know it. There's no way you would know it. She is so pretty. She looks almost like she did back then, right? I mean, not much different at all. But also, the thing is, though, is, okay, I'm jumping ahead a touch, but I saw her show. So much energy and so much humility. She's like, "Okay, I'm older. I need oxygen," and then bring the oxygen tank out. And that shows her huge humility, and, you know, "Okay, I'm old. I'm still with it." And her ability to make fun of herself, too. Although, I think we all need an oxygen at that point because it was so hot in all these places that you just felt like sometimes you were suffocating. So, remember, she was like, "I wish I could give some of this to all of you." Yes. Some of this oxygen. Such a nice giving woman. But yeah, so... But like she's older than all of us, obviously, and like no offense. And she's out there performing in front of us, which is fantastic. Like full-on performing. It wasn't just... Like the full-on dancing and jumping around and talking, and like I would have passed out three times halfway through that routine. No way we didn't even have been able to go through like two minutes. No. Me neither. No way. No way. Yeah, I wouldn't have needed a beer at least four times. She's a professional. So... There was water in her drink. Okay? There was water. Yeah. Sure. There was water. 'Cause back in the day, remember on American Idol when they used to say she's not drinking water. She's drunk when she was judging. Oh, I don't remember that, but I remember loving it. And I would be like, "Oh, fuck off, you guys. Just leave her alone. She's great." So she... I would have liked it more annoying if she was drunk. When it was my turn to meet her, so she signed my CD of Forever Your Girl, The Jacket. And then I said, I think the first thing I said to her was, "We just drove 24 hours to be here at the magic summer tour." And her face was just like, her mouth just jaw-dropped. And she's like, "Really?" I'm like, "Yeah." She's like, "Did you know I'm coming to Canada in the fall?" "Yes, I'm going to be there too." And then she was so sweet. Where is she here? Is she at the Riverfront? The Expo Center with Tiffany, with Tiffany and Taylor Dane on October 4th. How... Awesome. It's going to be great. I have a meet and greet with her and I have a meet and greet with Tiffany that day too. Oh, yay. Oh. So it's not as big a Taylor Dane fan, huh? I mean... I didn't have the connection to Taylor Dane growing up that I did to Paula and Tiffany. That's all it is. Yeah. But no, I understand. I definitely like... Tiffany was my very first female pop idol. She was my first cassette that I chose for myself. And Paula was like, I was obsessed with her and her music and her dancing and just, yeah. So I had those childhood connections where it's like, I love Taylor Dane. I think she's fucking amazing, but it's not the same. Where with her it's just cool to see her, but the other ones it's cool to meet them. And I'm excited to see Taylor Dane live, actually. I'd love to hear how she's going to sound and the song she's going to do. I'm excited. I am very curious, too, because it does not sound like her on... Although she was on the mass singer and it sounded like her, but the song she did on the New Kids album, the new one, does not sound like her. She sounds sweet and pretty, but it was weird. Because she had more of a husky voice. Mm-hmm. That's funny. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That other song. I'm keeping sound too, like she's saying like deep like that. Yeah. Which I love about her because she did that so well. But yeah. So it is different. It was much... It was very unexpected. So you brought up mass singer. Did you know that Donnie was the mass singer, like that when he revealed himself to Jenny? Did you know that was him? He was the chicken. Yes. You knew that? Yeah. We were pretty, pretty sure it was Donnie because of his voice. Dude, do you want to know how I wrote? So he also did, I guess, voiceover for like, it would say producer. And there was a voice talking and Tyrone goes, because I was just reading it and paying attention to what they were saying. I wasn't really listening. He goes, "Wasn't that Donnie?" I go, "What?" "I'm shaking." And we rewound it. I'm all, "Oh my God. You're rickety. What's Donnie? Don't take my block head card. How didn't you know?" And I didn't even see her that. So in other words, what you're saying is your husband out new kids to you. Mm-hmm. It's a verb. It's a verb. He did. You may not realize it, but every minute of every day, you're enjoying your First Amendment freedoms. You can wear what you want, give out your opinion for free. Even if it's unpopular, listen to your playlist. You can put a sign out on your front lawn that says, "Vote for Bigfoot, someone you can believe in." Create to the God of your choice. Or don't. You have the right to hang with a posse that thinks like you do. Tell the government what you think about its policies. They're the freedoms that let you be you. And they're all brought to you by the First Amendment. Learn more at freedomforum.org. Yep. [laughter] You got out new kids. I changed him well. That's impressive. I remember that season we were, it was still COVID times, right? So we were still watching, we were doing a lot of shit on Zoom together, and watching Massinger was the thing we did, there was at least like eight of us watching it, six to eight of us. Yeah. And there was the odd time I passed out like this on my couch. [laughter] Right here. But I remember that was a fun, exciting season for Candida too, because that was the season that those Russian dolls was Hanson. Oh, she was a Hanson fan? She grew up as a Hanson fan hard. Oh. Loves Hanson. Yep. So it was cool because she knew it. The first episode, she knew, she knew as soon as they were singing, "The Hanson." And then all the clues made sense because she knew it was Hanson. Which, they really don't make as much sense unless you know who it is. And then the clues just kind of help prove it. Yeah. That's true. Yes, and it all makes sense later. And then-- So your trip though, where would you leave off? I'm talking about Paula's meet and greet. Oh, that's right. So that's my first show. Yep. Yeah. So I just told her that we'd driven whatever and she was like, "Oh, you know, I'm coming together. Yeah." And then she was so sweet and she gave me this big hug. And then we did our first picture together, which was a Polaroid. And you could do whatever. And I saw these other people did it. So I was like, "Can we do a heart with our fingers?" And she says, "Yes." And I'm like, "I'm sorry, my hand's shaking so badly." Oh, my God. I got heart with my fingers. And she's like, "No, you're fine." And then we take the picture and then we get a picture where we're like, "So then she hugged me tightly, so I figured it was okay to hug her back too." And then after we took the picture, she kissed me on the cheek. And then I'm like, "Oh, I don't know about if I can kiss her on the cheek because that might be weird." I think I kind of like air kissed her, you know, where you're like kind of on the side of her cheek. Like, and it was like the cheek that she has her famous mole on. Also, it's like you kissed them all. Yeah. Like kind of. It was more like the air kissing type. And then she said, "I love you." And I don't remember what else we saw. Oh, I told her about the shoes. Because when I grew up, Paula Abdul had a deal with LA gear. And she had these shoes called Sun Blossoms, and they were beautiful high-top shoes. Does this ring a bell for anybody? Yeah. I remember Paula's shoes. You do? I do. I remember. Jimmy probably wouldn't. Were they LA gear? They were LA gear, Sun Blossoms. That was what they were called. And their faces were like... But then I thought the cheapest shoes possible because I walk on the outside of my feet. Hmm. Yeah. No, that makes sense. So I bought... So I was like... I begged my mom to have these shoes, so I had these shoes, and I told her that I had them. Is that Elliot? He is. Is that my buddy Elliot? He moved. He's... Oh, you just got the little corner of him, and then he left. Elliot should... That's my buddy. I did. I kicked his ass in lightsaber fighting. He came and got us, and then he was off into the other room. I was wanting to hear his perspective on how he beat Jimmy. No, I beat him. I just... Elliot! Did you beat Jimmy, or did Jimmy beat you? No, I kicked his ass. Did... Did you win, or did Jimmy win? What did he say? I won, but he beaten me into the pool. Yeah. Can you just come over here and tell us because I don't understand what you're saying. Oh, he said nah. Oh, wow. Oh, he... He full-o kicked my butt, but... I was trying to... I was trying to start a fight, but it didn't work. He's holding his cat, he's happy. Like we had so much fun at your house. It was... I'm so glad. It was good. Tyrone and the kids, and then with Carter watching the acolyte, and there was one point when we were watching the movie and we both nerd it at the exact same time when it came and showed this island, and we're like, "Oh, my God, it's out, too!" Like we went full nerd, we both went equal, full nerd, and it wasn't even off to, but it was close. But I look over and I see your husband looking at us going, "Oh, there's two of them, though." Like he didn't say it, but he could read it on his face, going, "Oh, okay, we... We've found an equal nerd, because we both sit off, too, at the exact same time." It's Dario. Yes. Round sound. Yeah. I like your husband's awesome, you're awesome. Oh, thank you. And how... Yeah, it was just such a great time. We were so welcome there, like right from day one. Yes, I slept near the pool, but it was actually cool sleeping near the pool, because I've never slept near a pool before. And then, yeah, everything was just so much fun. Oh, well, I'm glad you both enjoyed yourselves. We hope nobody ever leaves our house going, "Man, I wish I never went there." No, I've never... that was really crazy, awesome, fun, and so relaxed. You're also really good at introducing folks to each other who don't know each other. You tried... Like, all the 4th of July, you guys would be like, "Hey, this is this person, and this is how they know us." And so, we all understood each other's connections, but it was really cool how you guys facilitated like introducing everybody. I even was proud of myself, because they did it drunk too, and got everybody's names and where they were from, correct? And when only mentioning Naomi and myself, they drove 24 hours to be here. I had a big drove from Canada. Yeah, like up near the North Pole. They're not that far from... actually, if we'd driven in the other direction, Jimmy, it probably would have taken us less time to get to the North Pole. Oh, my God. But actually, it would have... If so? If there was roads... Yeah, look what's up now. If there was roads, there's no roads that go all the way up to... you'd have to fly for some of it, especially in the summer. Let's pretend there's... we could drive. I'm just going to Google it, because I'm weird, and I want to know. Because when I was with the basketball team, if you went to places like Cycochek, which is in Northwest Territories, or Anubic, if you went in the winter, you could drive. If you went in the summer, you'd have to fly, because the roads are all ice. You said basketball, but I thought you were... I thought it was going to come up backstreet. That's what that is. No, basketball. Alright. That is on that. Backstreet. Got it. I was with a little person basketball. I'm not even a big boy-bander person. I like new kids, and that's it. But I heard that I was hearing backstreet. No, I used to work with a little person basketball, basketball team, not Backstreet Boy team. I think you should do a new kid's team. Yeah, but it's just... Have your experience. But there's not that many midgets that are like new kids. Oh, I bet you're wrong. I bet you're not. I'm probably wrong. I was just trying to... And I'm totally wrong about the North Pole, too, but anyways, I was leaving at that. We were way closer to you. Well, that's okay. But yeah, we had a great time at that concert on that first night, came back to your place. Then the next day, we had another concert, and this was Jimmy's first new kid's concert. Yes. Very fortunate. It's when we painted the cars, or the market. Yes. Yeah, we put the markers on the cars. That was fun. That was parking lot. Shout out to Deb about that idea, right? Because she was the one who did it back in before. We did it in Cleveland, Cleveland, but you drove Adrian's car back to Chicago with the beautiful writing. Yeah, so we went to... It started in Cleveland, it went to Chicago, and then it went to the Michigan show. Yeah. Sure. That was... And it's nice because it stayed on there pretty good. Yeah. And then she made us wash our windows off because she didn't want to have it parked outside. No, you didn't... I get that. You don't want to like draw attention to it. I run washed our windows off the next day, too, because he's like, I didn't think Carter wanted me to drive him around in the new kid's car. That would have been funny just to get the reaction. Donnie Guy in the window and... I know. The other window. Well, now they'd be driving around because we already put Joe, girl, Jordan, girl, Danny girl, like in the window. And I was a Donnie Guy at the beginning, and then I became a Joey Guy. And why did you become a Joey Guy? What's that? Why did you become a Joey Guy? He shook my hand. Okay. Tell your story. It was a great story. So we're at the show. We're going through. We're having so much fun. And then they come running up, like Joey came running, you know, up the aisle. And everybody was like sticking their hand out. I stuck my hand out. Like he went to fist bump. I stuck my, like, like the shake. He full of shook my hand. And I turned to Naomi where she was filming outer space. I don't know what she was doing. And she's, she's like, I'm like, what's that Joey? And she goes, yeah, that was Joey. And I'm like, holy, that was Joey. And she, and I'm like, where were you? And she goes out her space and Jordan was elsewhere. You need to be with a Joey girl. Have you been looking for Jordan? If you were with me, I would have gotten on tape because this is true, because I'm a Joe girl. So everywhere. I thought you were a Danny girl. No, Adrian. Adrian is a Danny girl. Okay. I am full on Joe. I understand that Joe power that comes across when he's Joe is like, he hypnotizes you with his beautiful blue eyes and you didn't see his eyes. I shook his hand and it was like, it was like, oh, because there was other girls. You realize I'm a midget, right? Like, his eyes are still powerful. I bet they still took over and you didn't even know it because they are so powerful. Yeah. Did I mind tricks? It was, and then I'm like, I fan point for a second. I'm like, oh, if, if I was, if this was 10 years ago, I'd be making fun of myself right now. It's so easy to do. I remember like after the concert, you were telling us all in the room, what happened? And we're like, yeah, now you get it. Now you understand. But the thing is though, is the energy in the room from all, all the girls, the band, everybody, it's, it's mesmerizing, like just how like the, the aura in the room, like it's. There's a lot of love there, but it, but it's, yeah, it's, it's so cool. Oh, those stairs were so wet. Remember? They had to mop them up. They had to mop and use a squeegee and where are seats were wet. I don't know where our seats were. There was a person who worked out that just kept mopping them up and I'm like, Jimmy. There was a lot of, this is what the new kids does to us, Jimmy. There was a lot of women there is basically where she was going with this. Um, I wasn't, I wasn't, I wasn't, I wasn't that wet. I wasn't dripping. You weren't wet? Oh, okay. I was, I mean, I was also sweaty because it was hot, but I mean, you put a new kid in front of me and I was like, I've, I've been, I've been to a lot of concerts in, in my life. And like, and the thing is, is I, is I started to look at the beginning. I was crowd watching, just watching everybody reacting to them. And then when I felt me reacting to them, I don't like, Oh my God, there's bus, like, there's something weird here. Like it was. It's magic. It is magic. It is magic, but it was, it was, Kate, if we want to go there, let's go there. So, uh, cause you, you, cause you said, is it magic? And like the thing is, I knew more about, like, I knew more of their old newer songs that I did, they're old. Oh, yeah. Cause I mean, yes, and zoom and all that kind of stuff. But I used to make fun of my sister who was a blockhead. And now she makes fun of me because I went, I went, I went to California and now I'm a joy, a joy boy, but she just, I love it. I almost said, girl. Yeah. But that's okay, but Joe does that to us. We can't think straight. It just, uh, yes, you're doing what I need another beer after this conversation. Okay. Okay. So we're, so, um, I'm a joy, I'm a joy boy now. So, so you've, is there anything else you want to see about favorite moments at your first new kids concert? Well, Joe chicken, his hand is pretty fucking awesome. Mm hmm. That, that was cool and, and then, but also also that a, and I'm sorry, I, I'm sorry, I missed your moment. I'm going to sneeze one more time. Okay. We also, we went to Google and, uh, and, and, and, and, and the only cool thing is, when we called out Gen Z's as, as being losers, um, no, well, you didn't say the words, but he's, yeah, no, uh, no, we were, so we were in Google and there's lots of Gen Z's. They're doing tours because they want to, you know, they're, they're probably kids who have been going to school to learn about, you know, working in tech and they're all touring the place, right? No, they were sitting in benches and you turn around went, this is Gen Z and they're, and that they were all sitting there texting each other instead of speaking to each other. They're all sitting there texting each other in their phones. And I just made the video and I was like, this is Gen Z in the wild. And then I was getting a while at Google. Yeah. Yeah. And then I was getting dirty looks because I was filming them. Did you guys Google anything when you were at Google? Did, on your phone, like, I totally would have pulled out my phone at Google and Google something. No, cause he had, cause, cause you tried that big ass and the big ass, a computer screen that didn't work. Um, yeah, no, um, there was a lot to see and do there. Google is a huge complex. What are they going to say about that place is it's very friendly. It makes you feel welcome there. Um, maybe a little call dish, maybe a little call dish. I don't know. But you walk, you walk in and there was this girl. She's kind of like a Walmart greeter ish where she's a Google greeter Google greeter where she's like, okay, if you go to this building, it's open from this time to this time, this is what you can do. Oh, yeah. If you want something to eat, you go here. If you want like a coffee, go here and. And it was happy to do a job and it was, it was, but melting a lot there and she had this, like it, like, I don't know how you live in California. Cause I'm used to it. Dude, right now, how are you, how are you, how are you not a pile of mush? We were hotter than you today. Wow. We were 28 today. Yeah. Yeah. I wore leggings because I'm like, I need to wear pants. It's cold. I was, I was taking clothes off. I wanted to work around in my underwear. We're having a 28. Yes. Like, like, cause it was hot for us. Did you wear shorts? I always wear shorts. They're my pants. Yeah, but don't you back today? We were 85. If I worse, if I actually wore shorts that look like shorts on you people, I'd be walking around my underwear. It's sprinkled today. Like there was water coming from the sky a little bit weird. You have water in California? Yeah. Like they came down for like two minutes. I looked outside and I saw it in the pool and I was like, Oh, I don't mean it's raining. He's like, Oh my gosh. Okay. You know what you need to do? You need to come here. We went there in the hottest times of, of, I don't like where you're going with this. Yeah. You know where I'm going with this. Yeah. I don't do cold. No. Oh, you'll never come see me then. It's only cold here when we were in Michigan and dying because of the, like you could see the air in front of you. That's just gross. The heat felt worse in Michigan than it felt. No, we were way better. So your husband and I were sitting there and Naomi knows this. And with the, can I say it? You were twitching. You were twitching? No. Who me? Yes. No, go ahead. It's not you. It's me. Okay. So I'm like, what the hell is happening here? Do I need more drink? No, no. Yes. The, the, the rehearsals of the meet and grade. Oh, I don't do that stuff. It was so fun. Yes. I love those. Yes. Oh, it's because, because I turned, I turned the timer on ago. Are they just practicing meeting the, yeah, that's what the, and I'm like, really? Why? Right. So him and I, we were, had a full old conversation and, and then I don't practice by the way. I'm not one of the practices. I just. It may have had something to do with Adrienne practicing and she was trying to, it may, may have, like, I'm not, I'm not, let's see, let's, let's get the full picture here because she has a stand in as the new kids. So she can go down, that was, that was H K. H K was this no, no, no, because they were practicing their Jordan picture because neither of them, like Jordan, as much. No, no, but they, but they were, she was practicing the intro. It was a full old conversation. Oh, yeah. No, because she goes down the line and she practices everything. I have gone through this many times with her. It was meditated. If you don't answer like a new kid, if you start making shit up, she doesn't like it. See, Adrian is very professional about how she does meet and greet because she has huge plans for it. And I fucking love it because her meet and greets turnout perfectly amazing. Look at those pictures. Okay. The pictures, like the V picture, that was, that was an amazing pack. Awesome. Yeah. That was, that was so cool. Like. You know what we didn't talk about? I'm not, I'm not making fun of the results. I'm making fun of the fact that, but me being on the outside, looking in, going, what the fuck are they going on right now? Yeah. And then I turned, I turned to your husband and goes, welcome to my life, like it was. I was in the same place before too, like the first time I was with her for a meet and greet. And she was like, Hey, do you guys want to practice this practice? And I'm like, no, I don't want to practice. I kind of wish I could have practiced at some points. I don't know. I think I might have made it a lot smoother for me. But the thing is, is I've been, I've been in live media, most of my, like, a large point. Let's talk about your interview with cheap check. No, let's not. Okay. No, that was a radio interview with a deck. Um, he. You f*cked up. Oh, I did f*ck it up, but it's just, but you didn't hear that before I turned on the mics. Okay. That's another story. We should send, we should send Rebecca that, that interview. That's, I am interested. Hilarious. Jimmy, it's, I'm guessing you didn't reverse it before. It's, it's radio, I don't reverse it. Okay. Cool. So what's your name? No, that is, but the, but the thing is, the thing is, okay, Naomi, okay, listen, listen, I, Linda, Linda, Linda, listen, Linda, listen, okay, I had to call transferred to me and I'm like, okay, who is this? I, because I've weaved, I've dealt, I've dealt with other calls where you talk to the manager or like, like the manager of the, the, the, uh, celebrity. Okay. So what's your name? Okay. Oh. Oh. Okay. Perfect. You're who I need to talk to. Okay. That's where it was. Yeah. Like, I do, like, let's, let's go with this name thing because you're talking about names and I noticed she changed yours on the zoom thing here. Uh, I've changed my and I saw you always do, I also changed, I changed for him. She changed mine. Oh. Oh, okay. I. She wants this thing. She, she's the god of this group. I am the host of the Joey's bro, dude girl. Yeah. It's like they're bros and dudes, but you're still Joey's girl. Mm hmm. Wow. Yeah. You like it? I do. I love all of our names. Mm. Wow. And I don't, I, who was it that said your name when we all heard anal beats? This was a thing, I think with Paige and HK, maybe the, you know, it might have been Paige saying it, or maybe it was HK saying it and Paige heard it too and like, I wasn't there. They just told me about it later. Oh, I heard it. It was in my car and I, somebody said Naomi and I, I'm like, I heard anal beads and then somebody else was all, did you say anal beads and they, oh no. I'm all cool with the anal beads. Um, that's fine. Sorry. Child walks through the room as I'm discussing anal beads. So just tell them you were saying Naomi. It's fine. Oh, you know what? He doesn't know what they want. It's probably in their Googling. Uh, Naomi. I said Naomi. Yeah. I didn't say anal beads. I said Naomi. Google Naomi, but don't Google Naomi backwards. So this was such a fun night doing this chat with Rebecca. Thank you Rebecca for coming in and surprising Jimmy. He had no idea. She was going to be there right when we started talking about arriving in Roseville. Now we got so drunk that we couldn't continue until another time. So part two of our trip to California starts now. So the day of the concert, we end up getting in an Uber, right? Yeah, we checked into our hotel, we got in an Uber because we were like, Oh, let's go spend the afternoon at Google. We're going to go to the hardest to look on Valley right before we go to the concert because the concert was at the Shoreline amphitheater literally across the street from Google. Yeah. Yeah. So we get there and well, the Uber driver drops us off in some weird part of Google. It was like the bottom end of it like nowhere near. It was like at the beginning of the campus and we walked and we were staring at each other's phones and none of us had to Google phone. So it didn't know how to find its way home. Yeah. So we were wandering through and then we're walking up and we see bikes and then the Google bikes. The Google bikes. These are Google bikes are for the campus. And then the crosswalks that talk to you. Yep. Yep. So it felt like it's all little, felt like its own little community. It's own world, but it was welcoming. It was a welcoming place. You felt good being there. You know, people were nice that poor girl who was having to explain all the directions of where to find all the things in the visitor center. I felt so bad for her because it was like 35 degrees out and she's probably bored out of her mind. But she was so sweet. And the thing is though, she was telling us every detail because she had a script. She had to follow. That's the funny thing. So we go to this building and it has this, this, this and this and it's it closes at this time and then you go here and it's the store where you can check out the stuff. There's the cafe and then we saw this like Android droids all over the place. Hey. Yeah. There was little bucket things. Yeah. They were like statues. Yeah. Of. Yeah. Yeah. It was, it was cool. Like it was, it was fun being there. It was totally different than what I thought it was. Like yeah. The strangest thing for me is that one of the best meals I had on the entire trip was the sandwich I had at Google Cafe. Oh, that sandwich was so good. It had avocado, uh, turkey, um, kasha or she bought a bread or something like that. Yeah. Yeah. The iced tea was, was awesome, like the lemon iced tea. It wasn't iced tea. It was strawberry lemonade. Okay. Close enough. No. I see in the States is something very different. I know. And I like the iced tea in the States. I actually make my iced tea that way. So you just brew straight up tea and then and then show it. Cool. Yeah. No way. So you don't like sugar in your iced tea? No. I put lemon in, but like the actual lemon juice, but no, I don't. I don't know that sweet tea business. Okay. No. Okay. Um, and well, yeah. So we were at Google, the gift shop was pretty cool. We saw all the Gen Z kids hanging out, staring at their phones. We both got water bottles. You got the metal one. I got the plastic one in the souvenir shop. Yes. Yeah. They had some cool things in the souvenir shop from YouTube and that little dinosaurs when you know, when you get hit a link that's incorrect and there's that little dinosaur on Google Chrome. Yeah. They had some stuff with that. Um, but yeah, really cool place to check out. And then, uh, went over across the street and we met up with our friends at the shoreline app at the either getting ready to go to the concert. They were in the perfect little spot in this, in this bar area with a big huge fan right there blowing on them. Yeah. It is. I think they hijacked the fan actually, but yeah, it was, it was so awesome. The walking in there and like a lot of these people that were there, some of them I met for the first time. It was so much fun. I felt so welcomed. Like it was like, I was part of the group by all of them and I'm happy to hear that. And it was just, I was, I felt like, I felt like it's going to sound weird me saying this. And I felt like one of the girls. And like, yeah. Like it was just one guy with us. Chris. Yeah. I was looking forward to meeting Chris because I thought you guys would get along really well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He was fun. He had a lot of energy and yeah, it's just was so cool hanging out and just we were getting a little rowdy and getting all pumped up for the concert. And then then we went into the concert. That's right. And so when you saw Paula Abdul for the first time, yeah, and that woman has energy. Like we, I've mentioned it before. She has so much energy for, for a, you know, a woman of her age, like she's 62, 62. I don't have that much energy and I'm not even 50 yet. Yeah. But I mean, like they have access to so many things that take money like trainers and health nutritionists and, you know, all kinds of like cool skincare and shit. So like celebrities got that going for them, right? And then the other half of its genetics, of course. But, but then also keeping active as well, like there, she's still always cut it. It really sucks that she kind of had to cancel her tour in Canada. I know we just found out like two days ago that she got an injury of some kind and they have to do a procedure that's going to keep her off her feet for eight weeks, which means the Canadian tour is canceled. Yeah, that's, that totally sucks. But she was awesome. And I was at like in awe, like watching a live show like that, how choreographed it is with all the guys zipping around and pushing her around, like doing all the things that they do and they never pushing her around because she was on a chair at one point. Wasn't she? Yeah. They were pushing her like to the other end. Rolling it. Yeah. Rolling the chair and, and they're in perfect sync. And I'm like, you know, one day I'm going to be at a show and I'm going to watch something like this and there's going to be a collision and that will go viral. Like it was like, I wasn't hoping for, you know, something like that there, but it would have been, it would have been cool to witness it sort of like a, I mean, here's the thing too. We know that there was some lip syncing going on. I keep hearing about it. People get upset about it on YouTube videos of the shows and stuff. It's like, we get it. But let me tell you, there's a lot of people lip syncing right now, they're lip syncing to their own voice, luckily, you know, this is not a milli vanilla type of situation. But, but the thing is though, is what most people don't realize and you would attest to this as well as myself is when you're, you are on a mic, mic placement is key. Like you have to make sure that you're right on the mic. If you're focused, if, if you're moving around and dancing around the mic moves, so you're not going to have as clear of a sound, it's not going to be as clean. That's if you're using a handheld mic or, or even with hers, like with the, with the wrap around thing that she had on her head, that too, it moves, like the, like it moves. She had to move it back a couple of times. If you watched, if you remember during the show where it brushed against something and the wire moved and she had to move it back, like, and then people would complain about the sound quality. So either way, people are going to complain. People just love to bitch. Yeah. And they need to get over themselves. It's a show. Like, regardless, you know, like, her mic was on, her mic was on, but yes, but yes, there was a backing track, 100%. Yes. Yeah. It was there to facilitate and support her because she's dancing. Yes. You can barely breathe. It's fucking 40 degrees outside. You can barely breathe. Like, people were sweating. The stairs were flooding. Like it was. That was from something else maybe, but it's from all the new kids fans, all the girls. But in, in a different note, though, it was so awesome seeing her live and just it was, it was, it was great. And I'm a bit of a crowd watcher, like I watch and just see how excited everybody in the stadium got watching her, it's, that was energizing to that school. We talked to some cool people in front of us in the seats in front of us there, hey? Yeah. That they were a fun chat. I think they were locals, weren't they? I can't even remember what we talked about, but mainly friendly. Because, because we were kind of drinking and we were also on full adrenaline at this point, because it was, we were having, we were so energized and I know after the shows, after like the whole show, I was drained. I had like no energy left in my body and I wasn't even drunk. Because you're old. Because you're old. Also because we walked 50s old men, I'm just kidding, I'm 45 because we also walked around Google all day, all afternoon in the heat, it was, you know, lots going on that day. Yeah. But then the main headliners come on, the new kids. Yeah. And I know that you had wanted to get a shirt, but by the time we had gotten to where all the merch lineups were, they were really long, right? And we didn't want to miss Paula's, Paula set. So since I'd already seen the show three times, I went and while you were watching the first few numbers there, I went and grabbed a shirt for you. Yeah. I know I'm actually wearing it right now. Sweet. Yeah. And I wanted to get you the event shirt, like, because each city had an event shirt of like, where like a totally different shirt in every city that put the city's name and the date and all of that. So I wanted to get you one from the date and the show that you went to. Yeah. It was like, I have so much fun. It was, then when the show started, oh, no, we didn't talk about, I couldn't find Paula. But remember, remember when the show started with Paula, and she came out of the top of the stage. So to break down how the stage looked is it had stairs and she came out of the top of the stairs. And I'm sitting there watching the top. I can't see Paula. Where is Paula? All the way down. I was looking way up and she wasn't there. And then I'm like, I can't see where Paula is. And then you finally told me where she was. And like that had nothing to do with the people standing in front of us. It had to do with the fact that I was looking in a totally different area. But but yeah, it is. So when new kids started, they started top of the stage and then I knew where to follow them down when they went down to the lower levels and stuff like that. Yeah. But they were awesome. You're like, I can't see her and I'm like, oh, no, dude, I felt so bad. I was worried that you were too short to see them because if you didn't know, Jimmy is a little person. And I'm like, but how can you see her? Not see her. She's right there. And then you're like, there was nobody standing in front of you in this moment. No. And then then you then you looked where I was looking and you and you're like looked down. And yeah. And then I figured it out, but but yeah, getting onto the new kids coming to the stage, I actually knew more of their newer stuff than their old stuff. Like, of course, write stuff. I knew that one, but like kids and like all that. We can't name any of the other songs. No, I can't, but it's just I can't say I can't name them all, but I can sing to them. Like I actually know. He knows kids because he tried to learn the choreo because we were going, we did the submission for the kids video, but, but it's just I also the other ones I can sing along. I just don't know the name of the song like it. It's like when the music kicks on all of a sudden the brain goes, Hey, I know the words, but it's more so to the news, the newer stuff than the older. We think he knows who each guy is. You know all the names. I know all the names. Yeah. So you want me to actually see if I could do it. No, no, I don't think so. No, okay. I think you don't. Well, there's a reason you know who Joe is. I know Joe, then there's Danny, Donnie, Jordan. No, no, no, who's Jordan's brother? He has a show on HGTV where he fixes old homes, farmhouses, son of a motherless goat. It's actually Jay, John, Jonathan. I said, John, what, at least this is recorded. I heard Danny, Donnie, Joey, Jordan and Johnny, Johnny, not Johnny. There's no John, John, are you trying to say, Donnie, you're saying that's when you said Johnny? No. Okay. Maybe I didn't say John. Oh, no, no, but I was blanking. I could see his face too though. Okay. So I'm not a total blockhead, I'm just a blockhead intern. I'm an intern, yeah, intern me. So you can't, yeah. You came and he had fun. What was the best part of the new kids show besides Joey shaking your hand, which we've talked about? There was so much good. I don't know exactly how, like it was just what's that? You don't remember the show, do you? I totally remember the show. It's like I was watching the crowd in the energy in the building and like I'm a very tactile person. So like I feel everything and it was just the energy and just how, I'm a crowd watcher and I've said this many times and just how they got the crowd just fired up and just so excited and then the Joey, like where I shook his hand, like I felt that energy, like it came from everywhere. It was like, I was on a high after the show for a while and then as soon as the adrenaline word wore off, I was like dead, but yeah, it was just the energy and being around and also being there with my best friend, which meant a lot to me to because- I was happy you were having fun. What's that? I was happy you were having fun. You look like you were having fun. But the thing is though is, is originally I went because we talked about this and you and I have been friends for 18,000 years. Yeah, it feels like at least 10, at least 10 years. And this is something that you're very passionate about. You're very passionate about the new kids and I used to make one of my little sister for listening to, she still makes fun of me now that I went to a concert. But that meant a lot to me too, spending the time and hanging out with you, being one of my best friends in the world, and you're my family and yeah, that was pretty cool. Being in an environment that you're comfortable in, like you're a blockhead and I do make fun of you for it, but you, you, I was in your world for a day and that was actually pretty cool. Well yeah, you got to see how all of us girls that are friends, how we prepare for the show and all the silliness that we do and how much fun we have. So that was cool that you got to experience that with us. And that, and that is, was pretty cool just by itself. Yep, just like relieving our, our youth every day. Yeah. But so after that, then the next day was an important day because it was our very first 4th of July celebration, the first time you and I have been in the US for Independence Day. Yeah, because I very rarely go to the US, so I've never been there during Independence Day. Um, and it was hot, you, you argue with me on how hot it was, like, it felt like we were standing on the sun. How hot was it? 40 something. It was 44 degrees Celsius that day. Yeah, for the July, it was really cool because we had already talked about how we were staying with, you know, Rebecca and Tyrone. And they put up Canadian flag outside, outside their house in their neighborhood there. And I think that their neighbors are probably like, why? I wonder if it's still there. That would be funny. I think that she's probably put up their Sacramento Kings flag again, which is what they usually, I think, have hanging up. Okay. Yeah. But it, like, you know, we talked about it earlier. They were so awesome, they were great hosts on Canada Day. Tyrone was running the bar pouring drinks. You, you poured Caesars. Yeah. That was Canada Day, right? Yeah. No, sorry. It was 4th of July, but because we had missed our, our Canada Day, everybody, they're such good friends. They all like just like celebrated our Canada Day with us too on the same day kind of thing, you know? You know? I don't want to miss any names, but like, you know, Pam was there, H.K., Adrienne, Chrissy, and their families and stuff like, Oh, Tracy was there and her husband, I met some husbands for the first time too. I met some of the husbands I hadn't met yet. Yeah. And I met a lot of these people in, in the blockhead world that, that were just so much fun. Like, they have so much energy and it's like, it's, and so well. And, like, we played around in the pool in the, in the back and like, there was a lot of fun stuff we were doing back there, you know, on, on the 4th of July is when I did the lightsaber fight with Elliot and he, he, he forced me into the pool. Yeah. Or, or I may have jumped out of, you know, spender. Well, yeah, I mean, we could have done some, we did two different camera, camera angles on that. And I see a jump. I see a surrender. Oh, it was a, it was a full out jump. Yeah. And, and, and, and tidbit of advice if you're, if you're going to jump into a pool and you're wearing crops, don't, because they were pulling me under. Well, here, we got to let the friends know here too, they're listening, the people out there that you can see the video of this fantastic lightsaber fight on. You can see on my YouTube at dope nostalgia podcast, oh, we had so much fun in the pool that day too. And the food, like they went, I'll hear, I just want to take a moment to thank Rebecca and Tyrone again for their hospitality because they made sure that we were all taken care of for the week. Like they opened their home to us and they fed us, they gave us drinks, like, I was like mind blown at all the things that they provided for us that week. And I'm like brought to tears when I think about how much, how generous they were. The food was incredible. There was a huge, they put on a huge fireworks show, you know, Rebecca's brother brought, I think he brought the fireworks, didn't he? I think he did. And then we had a guy bring in a bunch of, one of the, brought in a bunch of meat and like they did, like, oh, we had like, ribs and chicken and everything, and hot dogs and it was just insane, the amount of food that they had. And they, and before we even had that party, they said to us, you haven't had a party till you've had a Fourth of July party and that day was perfect. I would go there specifically for the Fourth of July again. I literally, if I can pull it off, I will go next year to hang out at their house for a few days. I would too. Yeah. Start saving, buddy. We can go back and forth in July. Yes. I just, after my birthday cruise and then, yeah, we'll go from there. Yeah, we got a few months. So, but yeah, anything else we want to add about that day? I know by the end of the night, I, you know, when you're doing that slow day drinking thing and it's in the heat in the sun and you're in the pool, you kind of maintain like a certain level of drunk all day where you're not wasted, but you just, you're just right. You're on the level of wasted that you should be. And, but then the fireworks, like you, you mentioned how much they spent on fireworks and how much they had. It was like, it went on forever. Over an hour, for sure. It blew my mind on the fact that all they did was they took a ladder across the street, set up the fireworks, outside their house, outside their house. And they were just light enough in the middle of the street, like it was just, and it wasn't just them. Like you looked down the block and there was people on either side that were doing it, you would be arrested and cured Canada for that. Like a very different way of doing things, because you're right, I don't think you can launch fireworks here like that, can you? No, but they were launching the shorter ones, not the ones that go all the way up and explode. They explained it for the Canadians, right? Yeah, they had the shorter, like the ones, like the spin wheel ones. I don't even know like the terms for these, but they would go up eight or ten feet and Yeah, it's not, it's not crazy high, but they're cool and they all have really neat designs and they're all, some of them last for like two minutes, some of them last for five minutes. It's just like whoever builds these fireworks is fucking brilliant. It's so cool. So for our Canadian listeners, how it basically works is when we, in Canada, when it's Canada day and we go watch the fireworks, they're usually in a major city or town, you go down to where they're lighting them, setting them off and you can see them shoot up high into the sky. And it lasts, what, fifteen, twenty minutes, something like that? Something like that, yeah. And then everyone goes home, what, but what they do down there is everybody buys these fireworks that are the smaller kinds. And like you said, you described what they do, you know, eight to ten feet up, they spin around, they're like, yeah, and they had buckets of water to make sure that all the hot stuff goes immediately back into the water when it's done, yeah. So they keep it, you know, safe. There was a couple of times when the fireworks shot off the ladder and started shooting in different directions and we're like, oh, shit, we're ducking covered, ducking cover. Yeah. I love those. That was funny. But you, okay, so in the States, what's considered shooting off illegal fireworks are shooting off the ones that we see in Canada that the government puts on, right? That go all the way up and explode like all over the sky and that's illegal in the U.S. to do that on your own, right? So we saw a few of those in the neighborhood. They were going off, yes, but because it's it's just totally done differently. And you can see fireworks down the street. People doing it in front of their houses because I was like, are we going to get trouble for this? And then, then people were doing it on all the sides and I'm like, this is so cool. Oh, yeah. Totally different. Very cool. Um, but yeah, by the end of the night, we were all pretty drunk. Us girls were doing synchronized swimming in the pool and then then I continued, then I ended the night by sleeping on the deck again. Mm hmm. Your favorite place. I was, I'd do that again. Like, so they have these lounge chairs and I just spread out on the lounge chair out by the pool and just sleep. And it was so comfortable. It was like cooler outside. I'd always woke up with my sun burning because I don't know my sun burning skin burning. But yeah, it was it was so fun and like, I enjoyed our time there for the 4th of July for sure. Yeah. It's kind of addicting. I kind of want to do that again. That's the plan. So the next day, so our friends that we were with were headed to L.A. Some of them were going home and some of them were headed to L.A. to see the next new kids concert. That was happening in L.A. Yes. But our plans were different. We were ready to go head to San Francisco where we had a hotel room booked. And so since we we drove my car, of course, all the San Francisco got to the city. That was a cool drive to the city actually. We could see a lot of stuff coming in. Yeah. But it was kind of interesting to like the bay is beautiful, hey? Oh, yeah. Because we crossed going into the city, we crossed the Bay Bridge, which is that really long and it's so cool. Yeah. We talked about how busy the traffic is here. It's nothing compared to down there. It's insane. Again, there's like semi trucks cutting off people and like it's insane, like the amounts that goes on down there. But it's so awesome like seeing the ocean, you're driving basically across the ocean into the city and it's pretty awesome. Oh my goodness. I love it there. It's a great city. We were staying at the Hilton by the airport. And the cool thing about our room is that our view is directly of the runways of San Francisco International Airport. So we could see planes taking off and landing constantly and you were enjoying that more than you were TV, because you were watching that and and I'm not a height. Oh, I'm obsessed with watching planes. I love it. I'm I'm I'm not like with how highly were I'm not was never a fan of looking at windows. I was such an asshole to you because I was trying to because where our hotel was situated was kind of off on like on Island, but like a peninsula kind of it was a tiny peninsula into the bay. And I kept telling you, Oh boy, man, if the big one hits right now, we are going down into the ocean. Yeah, you did you were obsessed with that. That was and you said every day that we stayed there and every time we go back to the room and yeah, you you were loving it. Mm hmm. Oh, I was just like the the odds were small, but you know, who knows that the big ones overdue. It could have happened, but it didn't we didn't even feel any earthquakes. So that's all right. That's a good thing. I kind of want to feel a little earthquake once in my life. You know, we live in Alberta where we don't have earthquakes and we don't have I just want to feel a little earthquake, not not not a dangerous one, just a little one. But the people that live there that feel the earthquakes, yeah, probably don't enjoy it as much as you might think you might just say I'm here to ride it out. I'm just like, yeah, no, so we got our hotel room and then we're like, well, now that we're all settled in here, what do we do now? So that need you you break into Facebook. Okay, so I'm like, well, we went to Wallburgers for the afternoon. Did we not? Yes. So yeah, in the Berlin game, which is close to our hotel, your first Walburger's experience. Yes, it was it was cool like seeing seeing the all the signs everywhere and the pictures and like the what's his name? Marky. Marky. Yes. All the movies that he's been part of listed on the move on the roof. Yeah, it was so cool. And and the food was great. It was it was very slow. I was kind of hoping that there would be more people there. But you know, it was a slow. We were there we were there in the middle of the afternoon. It was a slow afternoon and that location is a little different because there's the the diamond restaurant locations that are actually like restaurants where you have full service and some full service service and someone comes and serves your table and whatnot. And so that's the Walburger's experience I had before. And that's the one you get in St. Charles at the block. It's called like the Blockhead's Clubhouse one, the one where it's close to Donnie's home. So that's like a real restaurant. This one is more like a takeout like a cafeteria kind of diner. You go and you order at the like a McDonald's go in order at the till and then you get your food and you sit down at a table kind of thing a little different, but they had a bar set up over there. They might have a bit of nightlife going on there because they had that bar. Yeah, I was kind of curious about why there was a full bar set up, but but it seemed like a takeout restaurant. That's okay. And they had a little bit of merch there too. So it all in all it was a nice experience. The food was good. Yeah, I looked up on my GPS because I was curious about how close we were to Silicon Valley. And so I put in meta Facebook and I looked it up and we were a 20 minute drive away. And I'm like, well, we got nothing else going on this evening. It's the night still, it was starting to become close to sunset. Yeah. Because we got there and the sun was just setting and then it got really dark. When we got to Facebook, yeah, you have to be more specific at Facebook, meta, yeah. Yeah, yeah, so we pull up there and it wasn't nothing like Google, Google's friendly and open and exciting and everyone welcome, there's fences all around everywhere. And so we parked near an entrance of a fence, which looks like it's usually manned by an armed guard, but and then a friend of mine just decided, hey, let's go check out the buildings and walk inside. Are you coming in? Nope. They're going to arrest a midget sort of little person. And then you walked through the campus. Well, apparently I didn't see it at the time, but there was a droid watching us, not a droid. Sorry. A drone. A droid. A droid. That's for you, Star Wars fans out there. There was a drone in the sky watching us. I didn't see you. I thought you were the one who told me. Yeah, there was something fling over. Yeah. Yeah. But they did they went from watching me, but there was also a guy parked in a car facing there that and I'm like, he's watching us like, there's all these no entry signs and whatnot. So we parked the car on the side and I'm like, I'm just going to walk in like, I didn't think I did. I was feeling fearless. I didn't think I was going to get in any trouble. If anything, I figured they might say, Hey, this, this isn't a public place you need to like leave. So that was my mindset is I was just going to walk in here, walk around, see if I could see anything cool. I didn't attempt to walk into any of the buildings. I thought about it and I went on Instagram live to document the entire time I had been walking around. Just in case you got arrested while you were on Instagram live, um, I'm literally doing an Instagram live at Instagram doesn't get any better. No. So, so you're yelling at me. Are you coming in? No, you're worse and no, Jimmy doesn't want to go to jail. So yeah, I walked around a bit, nothing too eventful happened. The coolest, weirdest thing I saw, they have the bikes like, like Google does. So there are the meta bikes there, but the thing you'll notice about the campus is that there's not a lot of obvious signs to where you are. The only map I saw of the campus doesn't even say meta on it or Facebook or anything. It just says MPK and then it shows each building and each building had a number on it. And that was it. That was their map. But the signs out front of the place do say meta. Yes, we do have the pictures of that and you can tell that the one that we were standing in front of, um, it used to say Facebook and they just stuck meta over that. You can tell it wasn't even remade. I just, they just covered up the Facebook part and put meta. Yeah. So I thought that's kind of silly that the whole thing was kind of funny. We went there, we could officially say we were at Facebook, but you did walk up to that one person that said, is this open to the public and she goes, no, it's private campus. And she was friendly. And then I'm like, okay, I'll leave. No problem. Yes. We think people were driving around looking at us who worked there, but whatever, then we were, when we went back to the hotel, had some dinner. I think we, we might have been online on zoom with some friends. I don't know. But we got set for the next day, which was our real big day in San Francisco. Yes, San Francisco was so much fun. How did we start the day? So we, we took the shuttle to the airport, so, so the, the hotel shuttled to the airport. And then we took the BART and we went downtown in San Francisco. The BART is the Bay Area, real transit kind of thing, like it's that's probably actually what the BART stands for. That's why I said that. Who knew? You think I made that shit up? Yeah. Whoo. Just kidding. Yeah, so it was, it was quick. It was like, you know, one thing about comparing that to the transit that I normally take. It was clean. You felt safe on it. It was very, very quick. It was on and off and it was modern technological clean, like you said, yeah, I did feel scared there at all. No, I felt very secure there. And then you get off, you go upstairs, we found where the hop on hop off what bus was. What was the first thing you saw when you first saw the city, though, when we're actually in the heart of San Francisco, we and we get off the BART. First thing I remember seeing is getting off and seeing a rail car, like one of the one of the street car street car. Yeah. Yeah, we were right in the heart of downtown there where the street cars are when there is like a live band playing, it was a beautiful day. Yeah. And it was, like again, like so much energy on the streets, like everybody was just walking and it was such a cool area and then we get on the bus and if you haven't been on one of these buses, the hop on hop off bus, they give you headphones, you plug them in and they give you a tour. And so as you're going by these buildings, they say what they are and so the hop on and hop off locations are they drive past the stuff that you're, that they're telling you about. So they stop so you can get out and go look at it. So we went by Jimi Hendrix place, Janice Joplin's place. There was a bunch of really cool things that we got to see and learn. The people said ladies, oh, you know, we never got to actually see the painted ladies because we didn't hop off, but the painted ladies were Victorian houses. The row houses. You've seen tons of Victorian houses just while we were there. Yeah. But those are the famous ones that were, you remember an in full house? Yeah. At the end of the theme when they're in a park. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Those houses. Yeah. Those are the painted ladies in the background. Yeah. Yeah. There was so much cool stuff and then we got off and we tried to find Lucasfilm, which was a bit of a walk. I got a lot of steps in that week. Yeah. Because we had to because we're eating so much good food and drinking so much, we'd better get some some exercise, eh? Yeah. So we did. We found Lucas Arts. We found Lucasfilm. And so we, one of the biggest things that we wanted to do on the trip. I was so excited to be there. It was, it was actually kind of cool. And we, we go down there and you have the big fountain with a stone yoda on the top. And it was so cool. I, it, yeah, then, then we went and we saw Lucasfilm building where they had the windows. Because we were there on a weekend, they weren't actually open for tours or pre to go in and see, but we, we got to see, um, we're just seeing those windows. Yeah. R2D2 and a couple of, a couple of the other droids. What droids were they? I remember that was one you told me right away what it was. K2SO. K2SO? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. K2SO. Those look pretty, that looked pretty cool. Yeah. K2SO. You explained to me what these things were. Yeah. And the pose and the pose that you posed for outside of the yoda statue. Yes. And we got a lot of giggles from the other people that were there with meat in the, in the full yoda pose in, because he actually did the pose that I did in, uh, episode two when he was fighting Count Dooku. Yeah. Won't fall out. Mm. So that was a cool place to check out. It's in a beautiful park, Lucas Arts is, uh, Lucas Films, I could say. Yeah. Yeah. And it's so beautiful. Like it's green grass and well man's, like a non-manscape, but landscaped. Um, but it was, it was a lot of fun and, and it was really cool seeing the statue. And being there, where they come up with those ideas and the greats, one of the cool things that you told me and that I realized after researching the places, I just thought this was like a tiny little subsidiary of Lucas Film, but this is, this is the main building. That was the, the origin, that was the origin of Lucas Film. That's where they, he plants Star Wars right from day one. And then it just grew, it grew from, cause, but you also got to remember Lucas Film wasn't only, or Lucas wasn't only Star Wars. It was like Indiana Jones and, and all that other stuff too, because it wasn't just Star Wars that made him big. It was all the other stuff that he did as well, but, but Star Wars is the one that I love the most. Labyrinth, Labyrinth was in there, right? Is that part of Lucas films or is that Jim Henson? That's Jim Henson. My bad, are you sure? I know it's Jim Henson's Muppets, but I thought that Lucas films had something to do with Labyrinth. Am I wrong? I don't know. I don't have my phone to Google it. Let me Google it. Hold on. Well, you're complete. No, no, I got this. Do you think I'm going to lie to you or something? Hold on. Just to make myself right. Yep, it's true. It was a 1986 musical fantasy film directed by Jim Henson with George Lucas as executive producer. So Booyah, it was made by Henson Associates and Lucas Film. Suck it. Suck it, Jimmy. Okay. That's right. You got me there. And then what did we do? You know what? I think you might have missed. What did we do on the hop on the hop off bus? The biggest thing we did. Oh my God. Hey, what did we do? Like the Golden Gate Bridge. Yeah, I was going to go with. That was even before that, I think. Was it? I think so. Yeah. Was it before? Was that on the way back? Ah. We got off at the Lucas Film or was it on the- I thought it was on the back of the Lucas Film. Actually, no. Yeah. It was after the bridge. Okay. So missed the Golden Gate Bridge, but we were on the hop on hop off bus on Golden Gate Bridge. But we didn't see much of the Golden Gate Bridge because of all the fog. Now, what I want to ask you is before going to see this bridge, we've all heard about it because it's kind of like one of those historic, most coolest bridge in the world kind of things, right? Yeah. So you heard about it. What did you imagine the bridge to be and what did it live up to your expectations? I can't say it disappointed me, but the fog was like we didn't get to see the, as they say, the majesty of the bridge, like how great that bridge looks in film and in everything because of the fog. So because it was very foggy that day and we couldn't see off the bridge like you see in movies where you can see off the bridge and you can see Alcatraz. You couldn't from the, from our vantage point there. It was so foggy like we'd have to get right up to the pillars and be able to see the pillar. Like it was like the, whatever you call it, the parts of the bridge that hold it up. Half the bridge was like that. Yes. And then we got to the other side and came back. We got to see a little bit, but it was a lot, it was clear on the other side of the bridge. Yeah, but then we started coming back towards the side we started on. And then again, super fog and you couldn't see three inches in front of you. True. But from what you could see, like honestly, when you're on the bus, you look straight up at those pillars like, wow, yes, it triggered it, it actually triggered my, my height fear, but did it? Oh, yeah. Is that why you were so quiet when I'm like, so Jimmy, what do you think? And you're just like, quiet, then a couple of points when you were asking me that on the bridge. Yes. I have an extreme fear of heights, nothing, you're short. It might have something to do with that, but, but the, the thing is, is even watching movies where they're looking down or looking up at something, I have to look away. I have to look away. This is something you never told me until now. Really? Nope. You never told me, even when we were going to do that, that you had a fear of heights. But I didn't think. Or that. Or that bother you. I didn't think. I didn't think it would because it's usually looking down that bothers me, but it's just that we were on, we were going to literally walk across it. That was the original plan. But when we saw how windy and foggy it was that day, and it was so cold, we decided not to walk the bridge. I wouldn't have looked down. I would have, I would have, you would have been miserable. So we didn't do it. No, but I did. I wanted to do it, but I, I didn't think that it would bother me as much as it did. I'm just learning this for the first time. There were times that drove me nuts on the day in San Francisco because I would be like, so Jimmy, what do you think of this? And I'd be like filming it because I was trying to make cool videos of you and looking at new shit. And he would just be like, yep, it's great. Mm hmm. Yep. It's good. And I'm like, and I need a reaction of it. No, but, but the bridge, if that was the reaction I gave you, that could have been because of it. But it's, I was. Oh, you, you, we all off the bridge and you said, how's my hair? It was really windy. Yeah. Like it was so windy. Like it, like my hair was actually slicked back by the wind, early hairspray. But, but yeah, like, like, I don't like to talk about my fears. It's something that, but, but that's, but that one, and like it, I didn't think being on the bridge would trigger me, to be honest, but it, at points, it did. Don't feel bad talking about your fears, though. That's how you get through your fears and face them. Yeah. No, but it did, it did trigger me at points. And I didn't want, I didn't want you to think that you made me do something that I didn't want to do. I actually legit wanted to do it, but it, it did trigger me. Oh, wow. I had a couple points. We're learning things right now. Ooh. Shit. Okay. Well, we survived that. So that's good. No, it was, it was good. And then we, like as, as we said, I skipped ahead and we went to Lucasfilm and then we, we got on the bus again and like the whole city is cool and we didn't get it on the bus again. What we ended up actually doing is we got on the bus later, but we left for Lucasfilm and we went for a walk past the, um, I want to call it the Palace of Fine Arts. What is that thing called? It's in the movie The Rock. It's beautiful. It's like this big park with a pond and shit. Yeah. It's like something of, of, of fine arts, I'll go with Palace. It looks like Palace. So, so we went past there and then you're like, Hey, let's walk to the, the wharf. Yeah. I figured we could walk to the pier from there without realizing how fucking far it was from there. And you're like, Oh, it's, it's only this foreign on the map, which is about 27 miles. I literally saw the ocean at the end of the street and thought, Oh, there it is. So, so we were walking, we were walking and I'm like, then I googled it and I'm like, it's only like, you know, 10 miles from here. So then we took it. That car. It was, it was like a $10 or it was like a $15 Uber. And then we go there and then we saw about the fisherman's wharf, the classic fisherman's wharf, the pier, Pier 39, all of that, tourist central. And it's the long weekend, it's the Independence Day, long weekend. So lots of people were out. Yes. And it was, it was a lot of fun. And now you sometimes get annoyed by this, but I find it kind of, kind of amusing. But the fact that I am a little person, the reaction that kids get to me is, is just, it makes me laugh. It, it really, this is a podcast, Jamie, you're pointing people can't hear that. There's a little guy. There's a little guy. Look, look at him. And I'm like, and I'm sitting there giggling in. And at one point you go, why are you laughing? And I'm like, look around. All these little kids are pointing and standing and going, look at him. I didn't notice people staring at you. And no, it's not just little kids, little kids, and they react to me. And, and I laugh every, because I wait for the hearing the words, look at him or look at the little guy. I don't get offended by it because, you know, it's who I've been for my entire life. And, and the, and the cool thing is, is sometimes, and there was one really good reaction from a lady. She goes, no, he's just little guy. He said, there's nothing wrong with him. Like he's not weird. Like, this was in San Francisco, this was in San Francisco. Yeah. Like, I noticed things that when I'm walking behind you, when you're walking faster than me. Yeah, it's really hard to slow down sometimes. I'm sorry. Yes. I'm, I'm five, nine, and I'm all, I'm all legs. Yes. You're, you're. So I'm trying. I try. You try. But you just usually just stop and wait for me to catch up, but, but yeah, it's, it was a great experience. There was a lot of people there, and then we went to that restaurant. What was that? That seafood restaurant before we got to the restaurant, there was a few little things on the way. Sorry. I'm sorry. That's okay. That's okay. Uh, there's the guy selling the fucking and make America great again, hats for 10 bucks that everybody was ignoring. Yeah. Oh, dude, that, that is not the place to sell your shit. Yeah. Then, then there was the guy with the big chain, the gold chain dude, man. Like, like it was, like it was huge. It was like, it was like chain that you would use to tie down on submarine. Like it was like thick, thick chain. And yeah, he had it wrapped around his neck and it was, he was, he was a gem. I was feeling loose that afternoon. I was feeling the vibes around, everybody being friendly, being touristy. So I just walked up to the guy and I'm like, I like your chain, man. He's like, thank you. And then his buddy's like, he has a very big, big celebrity in Africa and I'm like, oh, cool. We should all take a picture together. Yeah. We got the best picture of us with this guy and the chain and his friends. And like this guy, he looks like a bodyguard in the background. This picture looks like our rap album cover. It looks like we are angry and we were releasing an album of our anger. Yeah. Actually, no, no. It looks like, it definitely looks like our album cover, but we are quite an interesting group and the guy in the chain is the centerpiece. Oh, 100%. He's he is the center guy. He's he's our, I don't know any rappers, DJ Tabor, Flav, yeah, DJ Tabor, Flav. Flav, okay, sure, sure, yeah, but they were very nice friendly dudes when we said hello to them. So we did meet a rap artist that actually gave us his CD and I gave him a donation. This is the thing that happens a lot in touristy areas. There's always somebody trying to sell you their mixtape or their CD. And most people don't have actually CD players, so depends. Some cars still have them, so I think I've put a CD in my car player like three times in 10 years. Anyway, yes, we went to an awesome restaurant, a little bit of a wait. What the member I said was going to give a shout out to all the awesome places and let me look it up real quick here, okay? We went to dinner at Pier 39. We went to the Fog Harbor fish house for some seafood, I really, really wanted to have some good seafood while we were there. Yes, and I'm a fish and chips guy, like I'm not really big on seafood. I like shrimp or fish and chips and like my mom is into like the lobster and the crab and I think she likes scallops. Yeah. Yeah, it's, but you're heavy into the seafood. You like it. I do. I really do. Most of it. You know, I'm not super picky about it, but I like a lot of it. So yeah, we had a little wait to get in there and it was worth it. It was a great restaurant, had a nice local cider there while we were, ah, I don't know, it was called golden state cider. There we go. For dinner. Yeah, we had, ah, you had some fish and chips. I had like a mixed fish, plate kind of thing with some shrimp and stuff. And we had, we enjoyed golden state cider, local cider there at other San Francisco. And yeah, I enjoyed the dinner. Yeah, it was, it was really good and the fish and chips were good because sometimes when you have fish and chips, okay, is they're really greasy. These weren't like it like that. That's good. It was crisp, it was, it tasted good. They had a homemade tartar sauce, could have used a little more, but, but yeah, it was really good. We are landlocked people, you know, like we're in our world. Most of the world's population lives by the ocean. So you get fresh seafood all the time, whatever here, everything we get is pretty much frozen in Alberta, for seafood, except for maybe crabs or lobsters because like the, or like, I don't know, some of the shellfish and stuff, you know, because you can go into a grocery store and buy yourself a live lobster or go to a red lobster and have one, right? But that's, that's about it. So when we get these opportunities to go to somewhere that's by a coast, I am all over going to a nice seafood place. And I'll just order fish and chips. My dad was a fish and chips guy and my mom, you really do need to meet her. It will happen in November, but yeah, she loves lobster, she loves crab, she shrimp, yeah. We, after what we went for dinner, before we went back to our hotel, we went up the pier a bit, looked at the water and the bay and we saw some sea lions, yes, you know, the sea lions, they were, they were underneath, like the, the kep bridge or whatever that was. And they were just, they were on these floaty things, yeah, these floating wooden things. And they were just hanging out there and then we saw Alcatraz. It's just something you would have liked to do to go there. We just couldn't make it happen because of all of our other turmoil during the trip. We might have made it happen if we flew, if with the fact that we drove, which took two days there, two days back. Fuck you. Yeah. Fuck you. Wish. So we saw some sea lions. We saw some really cool pelicans flying around, too. Yeah. Nice video with that. Yeah, there was, it was really cool on the pier, like I've, like I've been to the Pacific Ocean before, but only in BC, but down there, it's different. It's, it's a different feel because it's warmer, like, it's a lot warmer down there. And like, we saw things like seals and, ooh, Jimmy, wait till you see the Pacific Ocean, if you go to Mexico or somewhere like that, I'm actually going there on my cruise. Exactly. My mom. So you're going to get a little new, we're, we're, we're leaving from San Francisco. Oh, good. You get to go back and we're leaving from San Francisco and we're going down and coming back. That's cool. Because you'll be able to tell your mom, no, no, no, Los Angeles, she said Los Angeles, can't say it again, we're, say it, say the whole sentence again, we're leaving from Los Angeles. Okay. We're leaving from Los Angeles and coming back. So I'm going to be back in California again, and then, and then coming back. Southside. Southside. No. So Cal. So Cal, you'll get to see that. That's cool. All right. So then the next day was the day that we were like, okay, coming here. We split it into eight hours and 16 hours, not the best way to do things. We said, okay, we're going to take three days to come home. Yes. Eight hours each day driving that way I wasn't losing my fucking mind. Okay. So people know it like it, like again, we're going to touch on this again. I am a little person and I don't drive. So Naomi did the driving for the entire trip, which, wow, we're like, yeah, you're awesome. It kind of feels like looking back at it now kind of feels like like a personal accomplishment. Like you've kind of feel like, wow, I actually did something like that. That's kind of neat. When it was happening, I was like, not so much on the way home. I was more relaxed because it was broken up better. You know, when we weren't in a rush and we weren't worried about missing anything, but going down was hard. Yeah, going down because we were kind of in a rush. Yeah. And because we needed to make sure that we got there in time that you, for your show, which was the next day, because we arrived on July 1st, we don't, we don't need to describe all that. No, no. People don't need all that. But your, your show was the next like the, your first concert was the next day. Yeah. So we were in a little bit of a hurry, but this time it was like, okay, now we've, okay. So we've got it all planned out. We're going to stop in this city, the first city on the way home where so we drove straight from San Francisco to Elco, Nevada. That was the thing. A couple stops along the way, like you had your first time having the country fried steak at Cracker Barrel, which yes, that was awesome. Like I'm huge fan of the first time I had it was actually in Butte, Montana, and that would have been in 2005. And it is so good. I want people to tell me what the kind of kind of meat that is because what I got out of it, it was delicious, but I felt like it was like ground beef. Like I don't think it was an actual steak steak. I felt like we were eating like a ground beef patty that was deep fried. No, am I wrong? I did feel that from it, no, but, but I was in luck. Like I, I loved the, the gravy, um, oh yeah, the white gravy. It was good. The side. I didn't do it. It is a chicken codlet, but I, so it's usually, you call it a chicken codlet. It's beef, it's steak. Okay. Sorry. I'm thinking if something totally different, I just, I think it wasn't like gravy though. No, it was like gravy. No, but I feel like the texture of it felt like a ground beef. It didn't. And how it came apart, like instead of like having to cut through a steak, like with the green, like you normally do, it did feel like there's something different there. So if you people know anything about country fried steak, we want to know messages. Tell us about it. It was delicious. It was delicious. I liked it. Cracker Barrel. I've been there twice now. Good food. I enjoyed it. Yes, like, great food. And then yes, so the very first night after the eight hour drive, we stayed in a place called Elko in Nevada, which is fairly small, but had numerous casinos and such there, right? Just like, it's Nevada. There's casinos everywhere. So, so we went to the one casino and we, I may have gambled and we both did. Yeah, we both did. But then I never gambled ever. No. So this was kind of one of those things. It was like, I had five bucks in my pocket. You had five bucks. I said, let's each gamble five bucks and see what happens. Yeah. So you did yours. I did mine on a different machine. Same. That's not true. Listen. It was the same. We played the same machine. Okay. I literally put, I have a video of it, Jimmy. It's the same machine. I thought I did the machine next year. Nope. Sorry. I bet. So I put it in my five bucks, lost it immediately gone. Then you put in yours and you were up and then you were up again. You just stayed up. I like to the tune of like 30 bucks. Yeah. So basically you profited a little bit and then I'm like, cash out, do it. Cash out and then you're buying the drinks. You're buying the drinks. That's what I said. Yeah. Exactly. I said, I'll have a double Ryan cook on this guy, which actually ended up being more than what I got paid. That's okay. I did all the driving. That's why I took those liberties. This guy is buying me a double Ryan cook. Yeah. Yeah. We get checked into our motel, which was the Thunderbird Motel in Elko, Nevada. I got to give them a shout out because it was a motel, but it was nice and clean. It was clean, bug free, fucking great. Nice people there. I liked it. Hotel in Elko, Nevada. Big props. Yeah, that was great. Yeah. They were awesome. Mm-hmm. Now we were at Stockman's Casino. That's where we went. Stockman's Casino in Elko and the girl who served us at the bar was super sweet and awesome. Just, you know, all the lovely people we met along the way. Just really, really cool people. Yeah, it was, it was, it was great, but they could tell we were Canadians. I don't know how they can tell that we... Maybe because we asked for a washer. Well, that was, that was at a gas station. Remember that, like, I think that was, that could have been on that part of the trip where you were asking for a washer. I think it was on the way home. Yeah. And, and, and they're like, what's so, what are you asking for? The girl? It was like we were speaking French, like it was... We were at a gas station and the girl I said to her without thinking. I said, "Where are your washerms?" And she, she looked at me funny and she says, "Where are you from?" I'm like, "Uh, Canada." And she's like, "Okay, well, what do you, what do you mean?" I'm like, "The bathroom? Oh, okay, it's over here." Yeah. Like, it's weird to say bathroom. I think like, for me, bathroom is like something is in a house. When I think about bathroom, I think of it being in a house where you take a bath. And then I think of restroom. I don't really use the word restroom. It's weird to me. I don't know. So, I just think of washroom because I'm going in there and I'm going to do my business. I'm going to wash up, but they don't get it in the States. They don't use that word. It's so fun. And, and, and the funny thing is, as I talked about this on my radio show, which is on 95, 7 crews FM and in Edmonton. If we should have said Shitter, we should have said Shitter. Where's your Shitter? I didn't want to say that to this girl. She looked like she wasn't even 18 yet. I'm like, anyway. It would have been better than washroom. She just looked at me like I was insane. So, who were we saying before that? So we, we had a couple drinks at the casino, went back to our hotel, chilled, get ready for the next leg of the drive. This time we had booked another hotel while we were, excuse me, while I burp, we booked a hotel for Helena, Montana for the next night. Yes. And it was going to be a motel again because we had a good experience at the Thunderbird and I'm like, okay, because technically I'm kind of afraid of motels. I don't know. You know me when I walk into a hotel room, motel room, whatever, what's the first thing I do? Check the beds. Check the beds for bed bugs. Right? I check for any signs of bed bugs because you don't want to bring that shit home. So, okay, cool. Didn't we go to Chick-fil-A on this trip on the way to Helena for your first Chick-fil-A experience? Pretty sure we did. Chick-fil-A, yeah, it was on the second leg, yeah, so on the way to Helena, yes. We went to Chick-fil-A for the first time. Yeah. And then, what do you know, like two weeks ago, Chick-fil-A opens right here in Edmonton at the West Edmonton Mall. And have you ever been to West Edmonton Mall since it's been there? Nope. They have these barriers for the lineup, which goes all the way to the boat. Like, it goes all the way to the boat. That's a good city block for the lineup, yeah. Easy. And like, I was there last week and it was all the way to the boat. And you're like, it's good chicken. It's like the chicken strips that I got, they were awesome. But I'm not going to stand in line for an hour for chicken nuggets. I'll do it for Chick-fil-A. It's coming. It's coming any day now. I'm going to Google it right now if it's open, but yeah, we're building Chick-fil-A and you know how much I love that shit. Yeah. Okay. So we get to Helena. Uh, get in our hotel room, we watch some TV, have a couple beers, whatever, get ready for your arc to go to the back of the night. You've checked the beds. You've checked the bed already. So you're ready to go to bed. You're already just like sleeping, like you're pretty much snoring already. I get up to go to the washroom, get ready for bed, both of the brush, my teeth. And there's a niche on my leg and I look at the back of my leg and there's a fucking bed bug stuck to it, drinking my blood and I freak out, I smack it and I squish it. It flies across the room and I'm like, fuck my life. This is my nightmare come true. There are bed bugs here. So I'm like, Jimmy, you have to wake up, wake up, get your clothes on, get ready, get yourself packed. We're fucking leaving. We are not staying here. And before that, I mean, I'm like, both of us have to go through our suitcases and shake everything out and look through and make sure we don't see any other bed bugs, right? I left like, like almost a third of my fucking luggage in that room. Because I couldn't be. I'm like, do I need to keep this or not? No, then I'd leave it there. Really? I did. I left some, I left some cute things that I liked, but I didn't, I knew I didn't need them, because I was so forget about the bed bugs and yeah, so we'll go. I went to the hope, we put our suitcases in the car. I went to the front desk and I showed her the squish bed bug on the Kleenex. Should I call this place out or should I not? Maybe I should. Yes. Okay. It was in Helena, Montana, it was called budget, something on the budget budget in budget in express downtown Helena. That's where it was. I'm pretty sure. Let's take a look at the yeah, it was called budget in express downtown Helena, Montana. Now I'm not going to disrespect the lady who checked us in because she was incredible. She checked us and gave, we had a late check in. She came down, got us in, got us hooked up. She was wonderful and she did not argue me or fight me when I showed her the squish bed bug and said, I'm sorry, but I would like a refund. We are not staying here. She's like, Oh my goodness, like I never seen that here before. Oh, no problem. And then she refunded me immediately. I don't quite believe that she'd never seen that before, but you know, we read reviews later and yeah, there's evidence to prove otherwise. That's right. As soon as we were in the car and then we were immediately googling another place to stay that would be open and it was went in the morning or something like that. Maybe midnight. Oh yeah. Trying to find something else. But I feel like we got really lucky because then we got into the best Western there, the best Western plus and had a beautiful room, bed bug free, everything clean, gorgeous place. Loved it. And when we got to that hotel room, we went through all of our stuff again just to make sure. I couldn't even go lay down and bed until I'd gone through all my stuff again. My nerves were shot after being bit by a bed bug, but you were lucky. You didn't get bit by big bud, did you? No, cause they'd probably aim at the end of the bed. I don't reach that far. What the fuck do you mean they aim at something? They don't aim at anything. They aim at humans, if they could. I have a but I have a very resistant blood. Actually that my mosquitoes mosquitoes don't actually like to bite me either. That might be true. Bed bugs are known for crawling up a wall onto the ceiling and dropping into your bed to get to you. They detect you by the the exhalation of carbon monoxide, and that's how they find you. Cool. Sorry, bro, but you're a lizard. Yes. Lizard blood like he'll heal within three hours if he gets a fucking cut. That's five. Okay, so yeah, you're like super human. Jimmy's getting a little tipsy. He doesn't know what to say anymore to my bullshit. Yeah, pretty much because I was just going to call you to walk in, but that's not very nice. I literally just once I finally got that rest in, I was able to be calm and we were finally ready for the final leg of the trip going home, Montana. So hello, Montana to Edmonton. Yeah. Do you remember from that final leg? A lot of bugs because, because remember at the end when you showed up in my place, all the bugs in front of me, like on the front end of your car. That reminds me Nevada. Do you remember that time in Nevada where there was all that construction and there was wasps, like swarms and swarms of wasps? Oh, yeah. Like I'd never seen before, like this thick in the air of wasps. And we had our windows up and everything like so we were fine, but it was just brutal. It was insane. Yeah. There's one stretch in the highway, yeah, but yeah, the whole front end of the car was totally covered in every bug of America. Um, we came back through the Coots border crossing, yes, went up through Lethbridge. Lethbridge is a place I haven't been to in years, if I actually grew up close to there, which is in Tabor, which is 50 kilometers to the east. But yeah, like Lethbridge is where I went to university for the one year I went. One year. I thought you went for like six. Oh, okay. You went for one year? I got kicked out because of low GPA. Aww. What were you taking? I was taking biology. Yeah. And I wasn't good at math. I was good at science. I was good at it, but where my strengths were, were in politics and history, but because I could argue any, you've met me, I can debate anything. Um, and I was really good at that, but I was focusing on the reason why I went into biology, okay, this is a totally off the topic thing, but I went into biology because I wanted to learn more about the type of dwarfism I have. Like, like we've said it a couple of times on, on this program is I had, I'm a dwarf. I have a condroplasia, which is actually the most common form of dwarfism. And I wanted to learn more about it and see if there's a look, like a way of, at the time I wanted to see if there's a way that you can fix it genetically, but I would not change who I am now. But at the time, I was struggling with like, uh, confidence issues and stuff like that. And so I wanted to figure out if there was a way of fixing it, like, or like, I guess a cure, like, like it sounds, it sounds horrible to say, but that for your mindset was that that was where my mindset was at at that time. And it's not there anymore because I love who I am. I'm like, I'm, I wouldn't have actually met you if I didn't, if I wasn't who I am, because I would have stayed in Tabor, like, like, there's a lot of things that would have changed. If maybe you had a more, more exciting life path because you're a little person. A hundred percent I did, but, but at the time I was like, is there a way of preventing it? Like, which looking back I wouldn't want to do, but, but that's where my mindset was at at that time. Yeah. So you went to the Lethbridge College and realized I wasn't good at math and I'm not going to get kicked out and, but then met a little person basketball team and then moved to Edmonton, started in radio and I'm Jimmy, here he is. She me on cruise. Be proud, Jimmy. You've accomplished so much. Hey, so we get to Lethbridge, then we're Calgary and then I couldn't believe it. Like being home again after a drive like that, it kind of makes you just like, holy crap, you can't believe we did that. WestJet suck it, you know? Yeah, WestJet sucks, like, like, come on, like, they totally screwed us on this trip. Like you, we would have seen a lot more, we would have actually been to Lucasfilm when they were open because we would have been in San Francisco on, like, when they're open on. We would have, we would have done our original Canada day plans and all of that. That's, that's the thing. There's hotels, here's, here's what I, I know on your radio show, you can't talk about WestJet and what happened, but here on my platform, I have no problem saying I used to think WestJet was one of the best airlines in the world. I now think they're the worst or one of the worst because of how they handled all their situations where things have gone wrong in the last year. They haven't been about taking care of their customers. When we were trying to call them on our way down, they weren't answering phones. They were ignoring us. We made it all the way to fricking last bridge on hold. So that's like five hours? Yep, where they just didn't, they just weren't answering phones at all. So what I'd like to say about WestJet is your employees are amazing, your principles are wrong. Here's the thing, Jimmy and I spent an extra $1,500 out of both of our pockets to make this trip happen and a lot of time and sweat and tears and all of that to make it happen. And we had the greatest time and I don't regret it for a second what we did. I am so glad we had that experience, but WestJet, when I tried to apply for any kinds of reimbursements for the expenses we did with gasoline and accommodations, they completely ignored us. They won't even pay us back for the hotel that we had booked the night we were supposed to fly in and I had to pay that. We both had to pay that hotel and that hotel wouldn't do anything to help us. And they weren't expected to because that's not what my booking was, but WestJet should have covered that and they refused to. Yes. So I'm calling out WestJet publicly that they need to take some responsibility for what happened and how much extra money, not only us, imagine how many other people have this kind of a story of the things they had to go through to get to where they were going. And were things were booked where you had concert tickets or you had plans like we all take vacation and sorry we're on strike so you have to change your Vicky. Some people had work things they had to be traveling to or maybe even some kind of personal family things that were even way more important than vacations. And they just left us all in the lurch. So WestJet needs to stand up and be accountable for what happened and fix it. So we're still waiting for that reimbursement. You and I, I'm putting it out there. But let's end it on a good note to say, hey, you and I may have been like at each other's throat sometimes because we're like siblings and that's great and that's okay. I am so glad we still made that trip happen because it's a story we're going to be able to tell for the rest of our lives. There's memories on that trip that I never like forget like it. Yeah. And and a big shout out to our friends in Roseville. Yep. Like they looked after us, they fed us, they boozed us and I got, I got to lightsaber, fight some kids. And yeah, it was such a good time. It really was. We are hopefully maybe we'll see them again on the 4th of July 2025. Hopefully. That's the goal. Well thanks, Jimmy. I hope you had fun. Yes, I had fun in in just hanging out with you and I've learned a lot about you on this trip like with all the podcasts and stuff. No, the podcast like it, you're very blockhead podcast kind of person, but you've had some other stuff. Oh, I was I like all kinds of things. So yeah, yeah, dude, I've been a rocker forever. Well, I know we're going to extreme soon. Yeah, we're going to extreme in like five days. Yeah, it's like Thursday and I have to go to boil on Friday for a wrestling show. Cool. Should I stop recording now? Yeah, you should. There's some media. Yeah, we've got it. Send us an email.
