A federal judge has rejected a bid by Donald Trump to throw out his classified documents criminal case and judge Eileen Cannon appeared skeptical of a separate effort to scuttle the prosecution ahead of trial. Cannon, who was nominated to the bench by Trump, made clear that she was reluctant to dismiss one of the four criminal cases against Trump. The judge said at one point that it would be quite an extraordinary step to strike down an espionage act statute that underpins the bulk of the felony counts against Trump. Prosecutors say the records taken were not personal but were clearly presidential and included top secret information. I'm Norman Hall. Prosecutors in New York say they're open to delaying the start of Trump's hush money trial by up to 30 days to give his lawyers time to review evidence only recently turned over. The lawyers are seeking a 90-day delay or dismissal of the charges. On Capitol Hill, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an obstacle to peace. Sagamogani has more. In an unusually direct appeal, Schumer called for new elections in Israel, saying Netanyahu has lost his way by allowing his political survival to take the precedence over the best interests of Israel, which are now being stifled by what Schumer says is a governing vision stuck in the past. Senate GOP counterpart Mitch McConnell immediately responded, "Israel is not a colony of America." and says the U.S. can either respect Israel's decisions or disrespect its democracy.
