Me time Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is calling for new elections in Israel, saying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has lost his way over the war with Hamas. National Security spokesman John Kirby says the White House was not involved in this. We fully respect his right to make those remarks and to decide for himself what he's going to say on the Senate floor. He obviously feels strongly about this. We understand and respect that. Kirby says the White House focus is a ceasefire and humanitarian relief in Gaza. A former cabinet member wants to get a group together to buy TikTok. Here's the A.P.'s Jackie Quinn. Stephen Mnuchin was Treasury Secretary under former President Trump. Now he runs Liberty Strategic Capital. I think it should be solved. I understand the technology. The House has overwhelmingly passed legislation that if the ByteDance Company doesn't sell off the TikTok app, it would be banned in the United States. I'm Jackie Quinn. Donald Trump has been looking on in court in Florida as his lawyers urged a federal judge to dismiss the criminal case, accusing the former president of illegally retaining classified documents after he left the White House. A humanitarian group says survivors rescued from a deflating, rubber dinghy in the Central Mediterranean have reported some 60 people who left Libya with them more than a week ago perished during the journey. A new report shows inflation is ticking up and retail sales ticked up too. Stocks are lower in late trading. This is AP News. A proposal to install new leaders in Haiti appears to have crumbled. Some political parties rejected a plan to create a presidential council that would manage the transition. The panel would be responsible for choosing a new interim prime minister and council of ministers, Jean-Jacques Maurice, an ex-senator and presidential candidate who has teamed up with former rebel leader Guy Filipe, announced his rejection of the proposed council backed by the international community. It was hoped that the council would lead the way down a new path for the Caribbean country that has been overrun by gangs. The violence has closed schools and businesses and disrupted daily life across the country. City officials in eastern China apologized to local journalists after authorities were shown pushing them and trying to obstruct reporting from the site of a deadly explosion.
