AP News. I'm Ed Donny here. A judge is giving Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis a choice. She can step aside from the Georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump or she can remove the special prosecutor in the case. Willis had a romantic relationship with Nathan Wade. The AP's Kate Brumback is in Atlanta. Fulton County's peer your court judge Scott Matthew found there was not enough evidence to prove a conflict of interest but he said there did exist an appearance of impropriety. An attorney for Donald Trump says the judge did not afford appropriate significance to the prosecutorial misconduct of Willis and Wade. President Biden is backing the Senate's top Democrat after Chuck Schumer called for new elections in Israel. The AP Sager McGonnie has the story. Schumer yesterday blistered Israel's leader. Prime Minister Netanyahu has lost his way saying Israel has lost global support as Palestinian casualties grow during its offensive in Gaza. He made a good speech and I think he expressed a serious concern shared not only by him but by many Americans. The president's backing is the latest sign. The US relationship with Israel is heading toward a fracture amid the Gaza war. The latest challenge is Israel's plan to go after Hamas in Rafa where Palestinians have clustered to avoid fighting elsewhere. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and the US insist Israel must have a clear plan to minimize civilian harm. And we've not yet seen such a plan. Sager McGonnie Washington. Data from the CDC shows marriages have rebounded to pre-pandemic levels with nearly 2.1 million in 2022. A unanimous Supreme Court ruled public officials can sometimes be sued for blocking their critics on social media. An issue that first arose for the High Court in a case involving then-President Donald Trump. McDonald's is apologizing for a global technology outage that shut down some restaurants for hours. This is AP news. Nissan and Honda are looking into possible collaboration on electric vehicles and artificial intelligence. Here's the AP's Donna Warder. Their products will remain different. Nissan says speed is essential in developing technological solutions and that Nissan and Honda face common challenges. The world's automakers are quickly shifting toward electric vehicles, focusing on batteries and motors instead of gas engines. But Japanese automakers have fallen behind rivals such as Tesla in the US and BYD of China in developing EVs. Partially because Japanese automakers have historically been so successful with combustion engine vehicles. Toyota, the world's largest automaker, has often said that the world is not ready for a complete shift to EVs and instead has pushed hybrids, which have a gas engine and an electric motor.
