AP News. Good morning, I'm Ed Donohue. The Supreme Court is rejecting an appeal from Coy Griffin, a former New Mexico County commissioner who was kicked out of office for his role in the Capitol riot. The Supreme Court ruled this month states don't have the ability to bar Donald Trump and other candidates for federal office from the ballot, but the justices said rules are different for state and local candidates. The Supreme Court is hearing arguments in a lawsuit filed by Louisiana, Missouri and other parties accusing officials in the Biden administration of leaning on social media platforms to block conservative opinions. Brian Fletcher is deputy solicitor general. This is not a typical suit where a speaker challenges government actions affecting its own speech. Instead, two states and five individuals are trying to use the article three courts to audit all of the executive branches communications with and about social media platforms. Lower courts have sided with the states. The head of a major airline is telling flyers about the safety of its planes. The CEO of United Airlines is trying to reassure travelers that the airline is safe despite a series of recent incidents ranging from a paddle falling off a plane to an engine fire. CEO Scott Kirby says United will review safety training for all employees. Some of the recent incidents though might not normally attract much attention, but have gained more news coverage and clicks on social media because of the sheer number affecting one airline in a short period of time. An airline safety expert, John Cox, agrees there was a hydraulic failure that made the news. There were I think two or three other ones that same day around the world, all of which landed safely. United made the headline. I'm Shelley Adler. Following up on his landslide victory, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared he wants to advance deeper into Ukraine and is dangling new threats against the West, saying it's clear to everyone a clash with NATO will put us a step away from a full-scale World War three. The S&P 500 was up 1% early Monday. The benchmark index is coming off its first back-to-back weekly loss since October. The Dow rose 80 points. It's about 2-10%. The Nasdaq deposit was 1-6-10% higher. Hurts fell more than 8%. Steve Insure is stepping down as CEO of the car rental company. At the end of this month, Treasury yields held relatively steady in the bond market. The Federal Reserve makes its latest announcement on interest rate policy on Wednesday. The central banks of Japan and England also have policy meetings this week. Seth Zutel, New York. The elusive graffiti artist Banksy is confirming a mural that covers the wall of a four-story building in London is his work. It shows a small figure holding a pressure hose beside a real tree.
