It takes place against the backdrop of the harshest crackdown on political opposition and freedom of speech in Russia since Soviet times. The November election in the U.S. is generating controversy, including a remark from former President Trump at a rally in Ohio's Saturday. Smith is accused of shooting officer Justin Hare twice and then driving off in his patrol car with the officer's body inside.
