Yasmeen Altaji gives a round-up of today's trends

This is trending your daily rundown of news from the Middle East and around the world brought to you by The National. From Abu Dhabi, I'm Yasmin Altaji, here are today's headlines. Survivors of Israeli strikes on Lebanon's Bikah Valley have described bodies burned beyond recognition and scorched land all around. When The National visited a hospital in Schmastad, children were being treated for shrapnel wounds and burns after overnight strikes on Tuesday, Ali al-Alam, the hospital director, said Medics treated more than 630 wounded. Israel has claimed Hezbollah's new leader Na'am Qasim will not remain in place "for long" in an apparent threat to the cleric who was believed to be in Iran. The appointment was announced yesterday. He had served as Hezbollah's deputy leader before his promotion to replace the Israeli assassinated former head Hassan Nasrallah. Iranian President Masayud Pazaskyan said the new leadership would "strengthen" the resistance against Israel. And Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed started an official visit to Singapore on Tuesday. He held talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, making several agreements in AI, education and renewable energy to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. That's all for this morning's headlines. You can get these stories at our site and visit thenationalnews.com/podcasts for more like this. Yes, me and Al-Taji, The National. (upbeat music)
