Why won't he bring that same kind of gusto in an effort to bring journalist Evan Gershkovich home from a Moscow prison? The Wall Street Journal reporter was detained in Russia a year ago. His trial date has yet to be set. His next destination could be a labor camp with stents and voluntary confinement. Evan's parents, Ella and McHale, have spoken out with updates regarding their son. Well, he's doing the best he can under the circumstances. And the circumstances are very hard. He's at the fort of a prison, which is Stalin's era prison. It's the only prison on the FSB. And it's basically designed to isolate you and to break you down. You know, doesn't see daylight. It's hard. But he's fighting. He's answering letters. We get a letter from him every week. His Russian lawyers see him on a regular basis. Ambassador Lynn Tracy tells us that he's keeping good spirits. He's strong. He's smiling. He's throwing jokes. He's trying to stay together.
