(upbeat music) - Hello, and welcome to the Accountability Coach podcast. Well, we will discuss topics, ideas, questions, and issues related to having a totally balanced and successful life. This is Ann Bakrak. Today, we're going to talk about three steps to leveraging your business for easy growth. If your business cannot run without you, you're headed for trouble. A business that cannot operate without the presence of its owner isn't being managed in the most efficient manner. In addition, a business that is solely dependent on you cannot grow. Fortunately learning to leverage your business will allow you to grow your business and streamline overall efficiency. Here are three steps to leveraging your business for easy growth. Number one, build a team. The first step to leveraging your business for easy growth is building a team. Taking the time to build a reliable team will allow you to focus your energy on the high payoff tasks. Delegate normal to low priority tasks to your team of employees or independent contractors. Administrative tasks, customer service, bookkeeping, and other similar tasks should be delegated to anyone but you. If your business is operating on a limited budget, hire virtual assistants on an as needed basis. Create a service agreement that guarantees a certain amount of hours per week, perhaps five, 10, or 15 hours, and be sure you and your virtual assistant are clear on the terms. Once you have a steady revenue to hire someone on a permanent or more consistent basis, considering hiring an employee or dedicated virtual assistant, it may seem counterintuitive, but hiring someone before you have the revenue may actually help you grow your revenue more quickly. It's all about leveraging your time. The sooner you can delegate, the sooner you can focus your energy on only high payoff tasks. That also means the sooner you can grow your sales. Action step. Explore employee and virtual assistant resources. Good starting points are elance.com or assistyou.com. Virtual assistants are ideal because they have, they can be hired on an as needed basis. In addition, you may set up a trial period for let's say 30, 60, or even 90 days to ensure they're the right person to add to your team. Number two, charge a fee. If you have a website, you're likely passing up highly profitable revenue opportunities. You can create a stream of passive income by adding a paid membership option to your website. Granted, if you have a website that's abandoned or lacking content, this won't work. You have to give your readers the perception of value in order for them to be willing to pay for any level of membership. If you're providing valuable information that will help readers make money or solve a problem in their lives, they'll have no problem paying a reasonable fee to access your website. If you have ideas for website content but don't have the time to write it, hire a writer. A library of valuable articles and resources is one of the best ways to increase the perceived value of your site and justify membership fees to clients. For as little as $200 a month, 10 or even at the most $40 per article, you can add fresh content to your membership website each day, an investment well spent, and even more value to your website by adding niche web tools. For example, if your website is about real estate, add an online rent versus buy calculator. Establish incentives for annual membership fees paid in full and upfront. Let's say the annual membership access fee to your website is $195. Offer a 20% discount for full upfront payment giving the member a chance to save almost $40. On the flip side, if a client opts to pay on a monthly basis that provides your business with consistent monthly revenue, imagine $16.25 per month multiplied by 100 clients. That's an additional $1,625 a month, every month. Here's another action step. This is one of the most difficult things for small business owners to embrace. Most entrepreneurs fail to see the value in their information or think they must offer their information for free to attract new clients. Websites can be huge monetizers if you employ two simple rules. Provide information your clients are looking for and employ an element of scarcity. Hire a reputable website optimizer or marketing expert from elance.com to do the following. Number one, research the market and find a demand point. Number two, create content or information products to offer for free and for sale on your website. And number three, track the results. Here's the last tip. Create an information product. Yes, we are in the information product age, but it does work. Creating information products is one of the easiest ways of making money for your business on autopilot. When you open this stream of products to your business, it serves as a complement to your services and expands your client base. You can create e-books or CDs, DVDs, workbooks, and so much more. Once your product is created, be sure to highlight it prominently on your website. Believe it or not, the landing page is just as important. If not more important than the contents of the product. Be clear about why someone should purchase your product by outlining the content in bullet points, as well as listing the benefits the client will receive as a result of purchasing your product. Understanding how to leverage can be used to your advantage and will help you build a highly efficient and more profitable business. Leverage is all about creating a business that is not solely dependent on you. When you're leveraging your business, you can allow for easy growth and expanded revenue. Putting these steps into action in your business will allow you to make more money on autopilot. Here's the last action step. Turn your knowledge into information. Keeping these points in mind, start writing down what you know and the strategies you employ to make it work to your advantage. If you don't want to write it, then buy an affordable recorder. A decent, decent digital voice recorder can run about $60 and record your thoughts. You can then hire someone to transcribe it and put it into a document that can be turned into a product. If you're not sure about what to create, start asking some of your clients. What do they need? What are their biggest obstacles? Where do they find that they drop the ball? When you know what your clients need, you can provide it, and then they'll buy it. Well, my hope for our time together is that you got value and an idea or two that will help you be even more successful, personally and professionally.
