[ Music ] >> Hello, and welcome to the Accountability Coach podcast. We will discuss topics, ideas, questions, and issues related to having a totally balanced and successful life. This is Ann Bakrak. Today, we're going to talk about three benefits of increasing success with authenticity. You're likely to be familiar with the most common ways to increase your success, such as setting goals, staying focused, and becoming more efficient and productive. However, you may not know that authenticity can also increase your success. You may believe that the best recipe for increasing success is to think and act like the rest. But in reality, blending in with the rest of the pack will only hinder your success. As an entrepreneur and small business owner, it's vital that you find your own unique voice and message so that you are anything but just another business owner lost in the pack. When you allow your true self to emerge and share that openly and share that openly with the world, you suddenly create a unique business angle. There is no one else like you, and you should be focused on your authenticity. When you allow your unique message to be heard by potential clients and prospects, your subtle touch of authenticity just may be that extra edge you need to incline clients to choose you over the competition. Acting authentistically will deliver a breath of fresh air to clients who have only dealt with robot-like professionals. Here are three advantages of being authentic in business practices and how it can increase your personal success. The first benefit of having authenticity in businesses, you don't have to act like someone else. Let your own voice be heard. You'll appear comfortable and confident when presenting your self to clients. And you can build a unique selling proposition or USP that will blow your competitors away. Let's talk about the first benefit of authenticity in business. When you don't have to pretend to be someone you're not, you never have to fake it. Many business owners feel as if they have to mold into a stereotypical image of a professional. When you're an entrepreneur, there is no stereotype. You have to fit into it, into whatever it is you want to be. Create your own image and let go of traditional images of what you think or what other people think a professional is or might be. When you're yourself, your authenticity will clearly show allowing clients to see the real you and want to do business with you. Here's benefit number two, build confidence by being yourself. Everyone has a unique personality and contrary to what society may have taught you, you can increase success with authenticity because you will naturally appear more confident when you stand in the confidence of your own uniqueness. No one wants to consult with a business professional that isn't comfortable and confident in his or her own skin. When you are confident, you present yourself in a very positive light, attracting clients to embrace you and your message. In addition, when you're comfortable in your own skin, you will come across as relaxed, allowing any sales type pitches to sound more like an enjoyable conversation with a friend. Remember, a confident professional is a wealthy professional. Benefit number three, building a unique selling point or USP, you don't have to operate like a cookie cutter business to be successful. In fact, learning how to practice authenticity can grow your business immensely. The important thing to remember is to build your business around your unique personality. Are you the type of person who feels most comfortable in a crowded room full of strangers or one that is best utilized behind the scenes, say in an internet business? When you can build a business that best suits your personality, developing a unique selling point becomes much easier. How do you develop your unique selling point? Well, start with a time from personal experience. When you wished there was a product or service to fill a specific need, use your personal experience and the solution you wished existed, but it didn't at the time to come up with ideas of how to provide this service to others. Success lies in distinguishing yourself from your competitors. What do you bring to the table that your competitors just don't have? This could be a bubbly personality or firsthand experience in a professional field. Everyone has an authentic USP that they can use to leverage new business opportunities. Find yours and start using it to your advantage. It's time. Long gone are the days where you had to act like a robot in order to be successful. These days, the most powerful thing you can do for your success is embrace your authenticity. Take these steps to integrate authenticity into your business for improved performance and revenue. I'm going to name three of them. First one is, and these are really action steps, write your personal mission statement if you don't already have one. This is the big picture, how or what you would like to be remembered for and write them down. Then take those thoughts and write a personal mission statement. Number two action step is your personal mission statement incorporated into your professional mission statement. If it isn't, is there a way for you to incorporate them? Perhaps there is an easy way to incorporate a passion into your business so it becomes more meaningful to you. The third action step. What do your friends and family say about you? What three words come first to their mind when they think about you? If you're not sure, send them an email and ask them to share with you what they think your top three strengths might be. Now are those strengths integrated into your business? If not, make adjustments to incorporate them even in the smallest way into your business. It might mean offering a new product or service, discontinuing a product or service or creating a professional mission statement that says more about who you really are. My hope for our time together is that you got value and an idea or two that will help you be even more successful, personally and professionally.
