(upbeat music) - Hello, and welcome to the Accountability Coach podcast, where we will discuss topics, ideas, questions, and issues related to having a totally balanced and successful life. This is Ann Bakrak. Today, we're going to talk about how wasted time really adds up, how you can make more money by focusing on your high payoff activities, or have more time to do with things that you want to do. How much time do you think you waste every day? Do you get sucked into doing emails, or surfing the internet, or watching YouTube videos someone sent you, or reading some kind of special thing that a friend sent you that they thought was funny, and they thought you'd enjoy? Do you get interrupted by your team members, your staff? Do you get interrupted by clients, or friends, and associates? Think about this for a minute. How much time do you think you waste each day? Remember, it all adds up. You might have responded, well, five minutes here, 10 minutes there, maybe it's 30 minutes on something fun, but not really very productive. When we asked, how much time do you think you waste to a number of people? Many of them said approximately two hours a day. They felt that they wasted on doing things that just weren't really productive, or moving them in the direction that they wanted to go. So, we're gonna use this as our example for today. You can easily do the math for yourself, depending on the number that you came up with, for how much time you feel you waste every day. So, here's the example of someone who said they wasted two hours a day. Two hours a day equals 10 hours a week, which is one week per month, or 12 weeks per year. 12 weeks per year. Divide by four, and you get a whopping three months per year that is spent in non-productive time, or doing things that aren't moving you in the direction towards achieving your goals. Now, let's not dwell on the non-productive time that we waste, even though it is three months. Let's see what that time is actually worth to us in a revenue per year. If we utilize that two hours per day on high payoff activities, so if we put our focus two more hours every day, or whatever your number is, on high payoff activities that puts you in the highest probability position to achieve your goals, what does that look like? So, what do you make per month, on average? So, you might wanna write that number down, and then here again, you're just gonna wanna do the math. So, if it's 5,000 or 7,000, 10,000, 15,000, whatever it is, however much money you make per month, and it could be on an average if it's not a consistent number. Multiply that number by three. So, there's three months we're wasted if you said it was two hours a day, and that's how much more money you could make a year if you focused your time more on the high payoff activities. So, for example, if you said, well, I make five months a year, I mean, I'm sorry, $5,000 on average every month, and if we multiply that out, that 5,000 actually becomes $15,000 more per year that you could earn. So, 7,000 is 21,000. 10,000, obviously it's 30,000 and 15,000 is 45,000 more dollars. Now, you could also say, well, gee, I don't put two hours a day towards productive time, but even if I put an hour a day in higher payoff activities, and I spent that other hour maybe doing something you really did enjoy doing that moved you towards goal achievements, spending even more quality time with your family, doing something that you really truly enjoy, maybe it's working out or exercising, doing something that's helping you move you towards your goal achievement. So, even if you start out by being more productive, by not letting time washers and distractions get in your way for just 30 minutes per day, you will make even more money and have the option to take more time off to do the things that you wanna do. How can you apply this concept in your life so you can achieve more of your goals, personal and professional? Well, my hope for our time together today is that you got some value and an idea or two that will help you be even more successful.
