Chronic migraine is 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more. Botox, on a botulinum toxin A, prevents headaches and adults with chronic migraine. It's not for adults with migraine with 14 or fewer headache days a month. It prevents, on average, 8 to 9 headache days a month versus 6 to 7 for placebo. Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection causing serious symptoms. Alert your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems, or muscle weakness can be signs of a life-threatening condition. Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue, and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welts, asthma symptoms, and dizziness. Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions, including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert Eaton syndrome, and medications, including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects. Lion's Fans It's time for the podcast you've been waiting for, the show where Kool-Aid runs blue. Faces turn red, and rose-colored glasses never go out of style. This is the Detroit Lion's Podcast. Welcome, fellow Lion's fans. What a great weekend it was. It was a healthy game, and we shoved that trap game right up the titans' ass with another blow on victory. We haven't seen this much garbage time since Matt Patricia was wearing a garbage bag while throwing garbage on us fans. I'm Jimmy Leal, University of Michigan Medical School grad, and now they're a third-string quarterback. Today is October the 30th, Devil's Night. I'm going to talk about Rodrigo's ankle, Taylor's decker's struggles recently, Melafamu's ankle/akillies, Josh Pasco missing a game with a dull nest, and his history of melanoma. Jordan loves growing in his status for our game. My trip to Lambo last year in all my thoughts coming out of that. Jambo getting arrested for about 10 minutes for a gun charge, and reviewing the titans game, going over the initial Wednesday injury report, and a preview of the Packers game. Going to get things started first with Anthony Richardson who's getting some heat for sitting out one play, and after the game he admitted that it was because he was tired. I find this fascinating because if he would simply have said he got the wind knocked out of him, or got a Charlie horse to the thigh, both of which were possible on that play, if he would have just lay on the ground, he would have been praised for how tough he was for missing only one play. The entire narrative of what happened would have been completely flipped, and we wouldn't even know about it today. It wouldn't surprise me if other quarterbacks have done that exact same thing. We do see quarterbacks coming out for a player or two all the time. I love that Richardson was being honest, and I do think people probably should be laying off of him here. The cold reality is that we live in a society where it is sometimes better to lie. In this case, he should have lied both during the game and after the game. It's interesting also that the coach's coaches chose not to help him out here. They actively chose this. They easily could have done them a big favor and covered for him by saying he got the wind knocked out of them, got a Charlie horse. There would have been no story at all. Either the coaches don't understand basic PR, or they don't like Richardson for some reason and they don't care about protecting him publicly. With Joe Flacco now being named the start of this week, it supports the fact that there is some kind of dissatisfaction between the coaches and the player here. This affects the Lions because we play the Colts in three weeks. It's going to be interesting to see how the Colts quarterback situation plays out before our game. Shane's stiking their head coach today said that Flacco is the quarterback going forward, which means good chance the Lions see Flacco in three weeks. Flacco is a completely different style quarterback than Anthony Richardson. It's similar to what we're going to see this weekend in the Packers game. Jordan loves a pocket passer like Flacco while Malik Willis is more of a running guy. He's going to run a lot more like Anthony Richardson. Now, while I don't think Anthony Richardson deserves the heat he's getting, a guy who does deserve all the heat he's getting is Tyree Steven some of the bears. That was hilarious. I'm sure you've guys have all seen the Hail Mary video already where he was taunting the crowd and then screwed up the Hail Mary play. I blame the coaches though for terrible game management. They got our coaches for the most part understand late game strategy. Unlike the Bears who fucked up the last two plays of the last game, the player right before the Hail Mary, they gave up a free 13 yards on the sideline pass because all the defenders were standing in the end zone on the Hail Mary. They only rushed for and one of those guys wasn't even rushing. The Lions week before rushed five on the Vikings game for their Hail Mary and got a sack. You got a rush five or six. You got a blitz the Hail Mary. The quarterback has to hold the ball for like 10 seconds. So there's a very good chance you're going to get a sack even if you don't having a guy in his face means he can't step into the throw and launch it. Well, I generally think the coaches of the Lions do a good job. I did have a slight quibble with how they handled last week versus the Vikings at the end of the game when they took two knees and lost four yards right before Jake Bates's 44 yard kick. I think this is a little bit dangerous on their part. I think doing that if a field goes 35 yards and under is fine but anything over 40 yards I think every yard manners you don't want to lose yards for sure and ideally you want to gain more yards as well. But fortunately Jake Bates came through for us. All right now let's get to Jamison Williams gun charge which just dropped this week even though it actually only happened early in October before this recent suspension. He was arrested briefly because he legally owned a gun but didn't have a CPL which is the concealed pistol license to have it in the car that he was riding it. No charges were filed. Can't imagine this would lead to a NFL suspension given how minor it was and no charges were filed. Overall I don't know how big of a deal this is. It's certainly something to keep an eye on because Jamison has already had two suspensions in his career. I own multiple guns. I don't concern myself from expert on gun laws though. I do have a concealed license in Washington and Oregon sort of ridiculous that every state requires its own version of a concealed carry license. Some states accept the concealed license from other states but not all super confusing. The states can't even agree on what to call the license in Washington that's called the CPL. In Oregon it's called the CHL the concealed hand gun license. It does take a little bit of an effort to get the CPL. You have to send in an application. You have to possibly take a class and you have to go in and get your fingerprints taken. So it does take a little bit of effort but it's something that Jamison easily could have gotten done. Gun laws are confusing though. In my state of Washington it's legal to open carry but for some reason it's not legal to concealed carry unless you have the CPL. Michigan gun laws appear to be the same. It doesn't make much logical sense. My main question here is do the Lions or the NFL hammer-foam these gun laws for the players? The Lions easily could have helped out Jamison by helping him get a CPL at any point in the past three years. Really just get every player a CPL even if they don't own a gun. Why not? The financial cost is minimal. It doesn't take much time either. It just seems like a proactive preventative measure for every NFL player to just get one. Alright now let's move to my Green Bay impressions for the game I attended last year. I still have my Packers flag they gave me for attending the game. It's a Packers versus cancer flag which I think we all can get behind. Especially with Josh Pascoe one of our dudes who survived melanoma cancer in the past and I'll get to that later in the podcast. The game I went to was a Thursday night football game. Fantastic. We dominated the game pretty much start to finish. What a great experience. Lots of Lions fans there. I still remember at the end of the game a pack or fan sitting next to me saying that's a lot of blue as Lions fans just rushed towards the bottom of the lower bowl at the end of the game. Great see. Your team requested a ride but this time not from you. It's through their uber team account. It's an uber account that allows your team to request a ride under your supervision with live trip tracking and highly rated drivers. Add your team to your uber account today. Green Bay. It's a nice small safe town. You definitely want to rent a car there. Easy to drive around. I don't think you want to be relying on any kind of uber or lift in that kind of a town. I stayed at the cooler hotel which is the hotel directly across the street from the stadium. Five minute walk to the stadium will love that. You do need to book that hotel instantly though. As soon as the schedule comes out about two seconds afterwards half the games are already totally booked out. The Lions game I was able to book a few days after the schedule release they still had rooms available. There are no refunds when you book though so you are booking that hotel with the understanding that it's in high demand. You're not getting a refund and you are locked in but it is worth it if you end up going into the game. In the hotel it's pretty interesting. It's a very nice hotel. In the rooms you get pictures of far on the wall and instead of the bible you get books there about Packers history. So pretty fun and totally packer oriented hotel there. Things you should do while you're in Green Bay definitely visit the Packer Museum. It's in the atria which is in the stadium itself. Very nicely done. Really impressed with what the Packers did there. Really cool museum good for kids and adults. I feel like all NFL teams should do something similar. Create a little mini museum for their team. I'm not sure if the Lions have that but definitely they should do it. You also might want to take the Lambo tour which I did. Not super interesting but not a whole lot else to do in Green Bay so worth taking the Lambo tour. The title Town area which is the area right next to the stadium and right at the Kohler Hotel. It's very nice. They have a practice full-size football field there. They have a kids playground, a bunch of outdoor games to play, some eating areas. It's a very nice area that they did at the Packers stadium. So really impressed with that as well and I'm sorry to report this but all the Packers fans I met there were very nice. We can still hate the Packers but it's hard to hate the fans. One thing I do like to do whenever I go to a road game is sample whatever culinary specialties they have there. In Kansas City that was barbecue. In Arizona a month ago I ate a bunch of fry bread. That's deep fried bread that's turned into a taco. Sort of like a Taco Bell Chalupa. Not sure if that's Native American or Mexican origin but pretty tasty way to eat a taco. In Green Bay last year I ate cheese curds everywhere. Raw cheese curds, deep fried cheese curds tried it all. If you like cheese it's tasty. Nothing really too special about it but it's good stuff. I also had some poutine which I've never had before. I ate at a place called the Booyahut which I would recommend. Never had poutine but now I know why canadians and Eskimos and people in cold weather eat it. Halfway through my meal I was sweating. I had a strip down naked. There's some kind of voodoo of that food that makes you very hot and very sweaty. Also very importantly I had Superman ice cream there. Haven't had it outside of Michigan except for one place in Denver who for some reason serves it. There was a lady in Denver who came from Michigan and she served Superman ice cream at her ice cream place. But other than that I wasn't sure I'd be able to get Superman ice cream in Wisconsin but they have it offered at the grocery stores. If you're gonna get Superman ice cream make sure you get the one with the blue moon flavor as there's a fake Superman ice cream out there with blue raspberry. You don't want that one. Got a huge quart of Superman ice cream. Me and my kids polished it off in the parking lot. The stadium itself is fine. It's all metal bleachers except for a couple sections that actually have real seats. You may want to rent one of the cushioned seats you can get at the stadium. It's like 10 bucks to rent or what do what I did which is I brought in some thin mouth inflatable seat cushions. Only about half an inch or one inch but that was enough to really cushion things and make it very comfortable for the game. That worked out really well. So you can get those on Amazon. I'd recommend bringing something just in case you decide you want to use it. If you're not needing it, no big deal either. You can just chuck it while you're at the game. So all you fans are going to Lambo. Have a great time. It's going to be a great experience. Really laid back and a fun experience all the way around. Now let's get to the Titans game. There was some pre-game news with Josh Haskell. He missed the game with an illness. Now there's a concern because he had a history of melanoma which is life-threatening back in 2018. Fortunately it doesn't sound like this was at all related to any kind of recurrence of the melanoma. Just something that came up in his annual checkups. The defensive end position was already a big question mark coming into the season behind Aiden Hutchinson. Now with the loss of Hutch, loss of Pascal, it's become a huge load of question marks. Dan Campbell, we're going to need to borrow that enormous wheelbarrow you use for your testicles to haul around all the question marks at the defensive end position. So Josh Pascal, what's going on with him? Annual checkup generally. Just dealing with fairly straightforward stuff, blood pressure, heart check, maybe EKG, get some labs. Definitely do a skin check given his history. Nothing really too much you do on a young person in their 20s. His history of melanoma was a life-threatening issue back in 2018. So let me talk about that briefly. A skin check is one of the things I do during a health screening for people of any age. At least I offer it. Pretty simple thing for a primary care doctor to do and they can easily do a simple excision to send to pathology just to make sure it's nothing concerned. You can do something called a punch biopsy which is a small circular knife. Very quick procedure. It takes a minute to do. Put in one stitch after and you're done. I have diagnosed a melanoma before in a young person so it does happen. These things are life-threatening because they metastasize which means they spread to other areas of the body. They can do that very aggressively. I still remember in med school school at University Michigan I was assisting in surgery with a young woman in her 30s who had a melanoma that had spread. They injected a dye into the location of the melanoma to see which lymph nodes are connected. And then they'll remove or biopsy those lymph nodes to see if it's spread and how much it's spread. When you see a young person in their 30s or the surgical bed getting treated from melanoma, it's very scary. It affects you. So if anybody out there has possible concerns or just wants to get screened for it, feel free to go to see your primary care doctor or dermatologist. Now the official screening recommendation by the US Preventive Task Force, which is generally what most doctors go by, is there's insufficient evidence to recommend it for or against screening. That just means that they don't recommend you get screened but they also don't recommend that you don't get screened either. There's just not enough evidence either way. I do like the US Preventive Task Force because they're generally pretty conservative and they wait for good data before actually making any recommendations for or against. Another guy who got an update prior to the game was Afatu Malafangu who Dan Campbell said that he's progressing well since being put on IR. He's been listed as an ankle officially but there are some rumors or some scattered reports that it's actually in Achilles. And the Achilles tendonitis definitely could cause him to be out way longer than normal. We've seen this go on with Christian McCaffrey with the 49ers but it's good news that the Achilles seems to be getting better but his return with an Achilles you never know. The doctor or the player do not want the Achilles tendonitis to turn into a full Achilles rupture which is possible. So they're going to be very conservative about one he returns. Now let's get to what I saw during the game. Kaleef Ramen had a monster game. Great to see that. Remember three years ago he was our second leading receiver. Good to see that he's still got it. He's still got all his speed and quickness. Remember last year he didn't finish the season because of a knee injury possible PCL spray. It's great to see that he's still involved in the offense and looks good. After the game I rubbed the gloves that he gave my kid all over my body totally non-sexual I swear. Okay maybe a little bit sexual. All right fine very very sexual. All right next let's talk about James Houston. He had a very good outside dip rush which we haven't seen since 2022. He lost almost all last year due to injury. He's the only guy on our team who can do something like that which makes me wonder why the coaches hate him so much and don't give him that much playing time. He's the only guy with this kind of speed and burst off the edge with our needs for a pass rush which I've been having in the past couple games. It'd be nice if we see the coaches give him a little bit more of a chance even if he has some deficiency in other areas like maybe rush defense or covering guys out of the backfield. We need guys who can get to the pass rush. All right let's talk about Taylor Decker's performance the past couple games. He's had some notable plays where he's just giving up very quick rushes really quick pressures to the quarterback. Hard to say what's going on here if it's just a couple bad flooky plays or if there's some kind of injury going on either acute or maybe even chronic. He did have off-season surgery, a sesamoidectomy, a deltoid ligament repair, and a bone spur removal. Check out my off-season podcast about Taylor Decker on May the 11th of this year for full details about what went on with those surgeries. Two of those issues are chronic. The sesamoidectomy means he had a sesamoid removed in his big toe. There's only one sesamoid left. It can potentially be a chronic issue. If he's having further injuries to that remaining sesamoid, there's not much you can do about it. You can't take out the remaining sesamoid so it could become a chronic toe issue sore like Frank Ragnow and the anatomy of that toe has slightly changed which potentially could have some kind of health effects. The bone spur removal, bone spur's signal chronic inflammation of some kind in that foot. Removing the bone spur's is not going to remove whatever is the underlying issue causing the bone spur's. There could be some kind of chronic issue there going on in the foot. Now he played through all these issues last year. He's a total warrior, tough guy, played through all this. That deltoid ligament here might have occurred in that very first game last year against the Chiefs. Going forward, don't be surprised to see regular rest days for him the rest of his career. He got a rest day last week early in the week. We may see this for the rest of his career similar to what we give Frank Ragnow. Not necessarily a big issue. Taylor Decker's a tough guy but giving him rest days on a regular basis throughout the year is probably a good idea given these chronic issues with his foot. Now let's get to the Wednesday injury report. A lot of lions got rest days. I was hoping all of them would get rest days so that they could all go fill out applications for CPLs but that's not the case unfortunately. Fortunately, we had a pretty healthy game against the Titans which is desperately needed after Hutch's injury. We need to hopefully string a bunch of healthy games together in a row. Starting with Jared Goth, ankle, no practice on Wednesday. You suffered this in the first quarter, a right ankle inversion injury which is a low ankle spring. Didn't miss any snaps until garbage time. Rest day was expected, not a concern at all. He might get some extra tape but no limitations for the Packers game. Malcolm Rodriguez was the big concern coming out of the game. Very early in the first quarter on pun coverage, a Titans player did almost a blind side block low into his left ankle. That can cause a high ankle spring, a medial ankle spring, even a fracture. Fortunately, reports are that the injury is minor and not a high ankle spring, not a fracture. While he likely won't play this week, he might be back next week so we dodged a pretty serious issue there. Josh Pascal was notable last week. No practice all last week due to an illness. Remember, he's coming back from a life-threatening Melanoma in 2018. Check out my Lionswire article for full details about his history and melanoma in general. Still with an MP Wednesday with the illness, it's a little bit unusual for an illness to last this long. But earlier reports last week were that it was minor so no serious concern at this point. Last week, he did have a quote where he was saying he needed to get some range of motion back which suggests it's some kind of physical issue but really no clarity about what's going on with this illness. Good news with Roger Martin, right knee hyperextension August 24th. Haven't seen him since then. This has been over two months now. Started his 21-day practice window today with a full practice. We could see him move to the active roster at any point. Probably depends on the injury, how soon we bring him back. But more likely, he'll use on most of his practice window, sort of like Christian Mahogany. So we'll probably see him back hopefully towards the end of November. Taylor Decker, this was a little bit of a surprise. NP with a chest. Last week he had a NP with a rest day. I was expecting a rest day today but instead he's listed with a chest. Not sure what to make of this at this point. I reviewed all his plays in the third quarter. Didn't notice anything significant. He didn't play in garbage time in the fourth quarter. A chest injury. The main concern would be a lung issue. NFL players are sometimes listed with a chest designation when they've had some kind of lung bruising. We saw those with Justin Jefferson last year. There were no signs of serious injury during the game though. No reports of him having to go to the hospital or anything serious like that after the game. Also in the chest area you have pecs and ribs but usually those are listed specifically as such. Just have to keep eye on this during the course of this week and hope for the best. I'm not too concerned of this time though and I would expect him to play. Cioni Vahki with a knee. This was a little bit of a surprise. I reviewed the video. It showed that he came up limping on pun coverage in the fourth quarter. He wasn't in frame for most of the play so I didn't see any injury. The limps suggested a right leg issue so a right knee issue is suspicion of what's going on. He didn't go down after the play. Didn't need help coming off the field. No trainers on the field. Hopefully that suggests something minor. Frank Ragnow with a rest day, chronic toe issue for years, gets regular rest days, no issue. Kevin Zylar with a rest day. Zylar missed the Cowboys game three weeks ago but he's played the last two. The Cowboys game was missed due to a growing or hip issue. He also had a shoulder issue in training camp. Levi Anzer Rieke also with a rest day. He's coming back from October 2022, a L5S1 lumbar fusion. That's a chronic issue. That's something that's permanently healed and he's good for the rest of his life. That fusion is there for the rest of his life. It can cause issues and can cause increased strength on adjacent vertebrae. So getting him rest days is probably a good idea. Something to monitor over the course of his career. DJ Rita got a rest day. He's coming back from a right quad tendon tear in December, 2023. He first appeared in game two this year. It has been really rock solid reliable so far. I like seeing him get rest days because reliability after a quad tendon tear is a question mark. A lot of these guys after a quad tendon tear are now reliable that next year. Good news that he has been reliable so far. Graham Glasgow with a rest day. No issues with him this season yet a minor knee issue back in week two hasn't missed any games. Notably, Cleef Raymond is not on the report after getting his head slammed hard against the turf. He passed the concussion evaluation. No delayed concussion symptoms are reported. So that's good news. Let's move on to the Green Bay Packers. The big one Jordan love NP with a growing MRI this week did not show anything severe. So suggest he could play against the lions. Whether he plays really comes down to severity and risk tolerance. Being an important game in the division with a buy afterwards for extra recovery time that would lean towards him possibly playing. But the growing area is not a place that can be effectively protected with bracing or tape like an ink or a knee. So he could aggravate this injury which is likely a muscle string hip flexor or hip adductor muscle string are most likely. He's still also recovering from his week one MCL spraying wearing a knee brace still. It's also still early in the season so risk in aggravation to the growing or MCL might not be worth it. And Malik Willis has won two games as a starter this year. So all those reasons suggest he might not play. So we'll just see how things go over the course of this week. Jair Alexander cornerback starting cornerback who played 100% of steps last game NP with a knee. He had a MRI this week that was negative. That suggests he has a good chance of playing versus the lions. Josh Jacobs running back NP with an ankle. This guy has been a stud for the Packers since they got him this year. He has 667 rushing yards on the year. He heard his ankle and left the last game this past Sunday. But earlier reports are he's expected to be riding for the Lions game. Wei Walker linebacker who notably shoved a Lions medical staffer a couple years ago and at FP with a concussion. He missed last game with the concussion but he's on track to play. Some offensive lineman are up in the air right now. Josh Myers center NP with a wrist starting center. He played all the snaps last game. Rashid Walker offensive tackle the NP with a knee. He is the starting left tackle. He played all snaps last game. Elton Jenkins offensive guard NP with a glute. He had the glute injury before last game and still played in the game. So he should be fine against the Lions. Corey Ballon tying cornerback LP with an ankle. He's played minimal defensive snaps this year. He missed last game but he might be on track to play this Sunday. Not a huge deal either way. Also on the Packers report Kenny Clark nose tackle LP with a toe. Evan Williams a safety NP with a hamstring. Devont a wide defensive tackle LP with an ankle. All right. That's the report for this week. Looking forward to the game Sunday. Everybody who's going to the game. Enjoy it. Should be fun. Talk to you guys next time. Let's bring it here together. You've had enough of that.
