Welcome to the Inside Texas football YouTube channel powered by InsideTexas.com. I'm Joe Cook. If you're seeing this pop up in your feed at a random time, you know that's good news. And that good news today is Dailin McCutchen has committed to the Longhorns previously a Florida state commit. He chose the Seminoles back in July, but he took a visit Justin to see the Longhorns for the Mississippi state game. And with the Seminoles season going down the drain, he decided that Austin instead of Tallahassee was the place he wanted to be. Yeah, you know, Dailin McCutchen's a kid that, you know, he was one of those that I think a lot of Texas fans didn't factor him in to that wide receiver conversation early in the class because you were talking about decor in more and a kalik lock and and to no cons and a kelshan johnson and even, you know, Jamie French. But buddy, Texas is always loved this kid. Like this is a Chris Jackson and Steve Sarkeesian are big fans of the five foot 11 hundred about 180 pound four star receiver. His head coach former former Texas Longhorn quarterback Todd Dodge. And so he's gotten a nice dose of how to run routes in his one season of love joy. He's been tremendous. Look, you know, source inside the program told me he is the perfect compliment inside to a Jamie French in a kalik locket. And I think that's how Texas is kind of using. He went to Texas A&M two weeks ago just because he's kind of keeping those options open. Like the visit didn't love it. Came to Austin and there's a good chance when he left Austin, he may have given the staff a silent, but he's in the class now and then he's the third receiver in the cycle. I think you're going to take one more and that could be Michael Terry the third or it could be another guy. But they're right now Texas is recruiting at a very high level and they're kind of picking and choosing. And I think today's get of daily McCutchen shows that you just stay with these guys. Listen, Texas recruits guys through the whistle. Rather, if they commit early, they commit in the summer, it doesn't matter. And it gives them an opportunity to evaluate longer and longer. And after, you know, they've continually built that relationship with McCutchen and today it came together. You know, you're seeing a very genuine and organic reaction here because this is the first time I've watched his film. And that was just right there. That was the third one-handed catch that I've seen on his film. And this is someone who's five foot eleven, like you mentioned, 180 pounds. So someone who obviously has ball skills is able to go up, get the football, make a play, even without the size. And something you brought up. If you're playing for Todd Dodge, you're playing in a offense that has some complexity to it. It has some things that you've got to learn and have down. And that really translates to the next level, I think. It's a ability to know where to go, know where to be based off where defenders are. And I'm curious, do you see him probably, you mentioned Locket and French outside. You mentioned, you think he could probably be a slot, maybe, in the Jordan Whittington, Deongre Moore type of next level. And still, look, he keeps going downfield for explosive plays. He can do a lot of different things. Right. You nailed it. The source told me that they could see him as an X or an H. They could see him as an outside guy or an inside guy. I think they prefer him inside. But you know how Texas is. They're going to mix and match a lot of those guys. You're seeing that in the wide receiver room in 2024, where he's gone down that bench, a deeper bench now. And you're seeing a lot of mix and match. And so I think Daylin starts off inside, but he's got the ability to move around. And also, you know, with McCutchen, he's a kid that, you know, he's, he's not going to wow you with anything. He just makes all the plays. Charlie Williams and I were talking about this the other day and Deongre Moore came to both of us at the same time. It's like this guy, if you go back and watch more stuff from California high school, it's very similar. Moore was probably a little bit bigger, stronger, whereas McCutchen is a better route runner and possibly a little bit faster. And so I think it's a they're seeing the carbon copy in a sense of more. And you're seeing what Deongre Moore can do. What's he have three touchdowns in the last couple of games? He's been tremendous. I think they view McCutchen kind of in the same light. He can play some inside and out, but I think he'll begin its life. Just looking at some of his track times doesn't look like he ran the hundred that much during the most recent season, had a season record of 2273. And that's with no win. So he had a 2304. Can't tell if that's a tail win, but still he's breaking 23 in the 200. And even if the tracks, if the track stats don't wow you, the stats stats do. I mean, like you mentioned, he's had a few huge games, 94 catches, 1430 yards, 20 receiving touchdowns, two kickoff returns for a touchdown, like he is producing. And if he's able to produce again in that offense. And here's another thing, you got to have some trust in not only what Steve Sarkeesian and Chris Jackson are doing, Mike Morville knows about offense. It may not be apparent this year, may not know everything about offense, but we saw the Seminoles finished 13 and 0 last year with some great pieces. And if he likes what McCutchen was able to do, then Steve Sarkeesian and Chris Jackson obviously do as well. A lot of people like him. He's the number 104 prospect, number 14 wide receiver, number 21 player in Texas in the on three industry ranking, which kind of groups everything together. On three really loves them, number 68 overall prospect, number 12 wide receiver, number 17 player in Texas. And so Justin, we'll talk about this in a second, but here's something to chew on right before we go to our ad break. Texas has one, two, three wide receivers who are in the top 70 in the on three rankings and they could have a chance at another. But first, before we get to that, got to give some love to our sponsor and to that, we will go to our friend LC. This video is brought to you by Andre the lawyer. So like we were mentioning, Jamie French, and I'm going to go by on three rankings, number 62, make of that what you will, top 25 everywhere else. But Jamie French, number 62, overall prospect in the country, Coleek Lockett, number 24, overall prospect in the country, also a consensus top 50 guy. And now Texas has Damon McCutchen, number 68 prospect in on three rankings. Again, that's a strong wide receiver class. And at this point, I may be looking for one more. Yeah. I mean, when your sales pitch is turned on the TV and watch us on Saturdays and also includes going to play with some really good wide receivers, you're going to catch a few passes from a kid named Arch Manning. Like those sales pitches work and they can only work for a window of time. And Texas is completely taking advantage of that. Like they should be. Like I said, one of Manning's favorite target might be DeAndre Moore. That was kind of a thing. They've been in sync a while. And so it makes a lot of sense that Texas would go after this guy. Look, it's an easy sale. You want to play in this offense? Like one of the things he noticed about the wide receiver play was the amount of guys playing the balance that that was there. He said he counted at least six or seven different guys catching passes. He loved that because he knows if he comes in early, which he'll be in early and early, if he comes in early, he can work hard this spring, potentially, you know, fight for a spot, you know, get a little bit of reps or whatever in his freshman year. And I think that matters. But ultimately, look, when Texas is number one, number two in the country, when they're undefeated, when they're scoring at will, recruiting is very hard. And Steve Sarkeesian knows that. He's not making this difficult. That's why when he sees guys commit early in a cycle or in the summer, he just says, okay, we'll just get him later. And buddy, he flips him later usually. This is a trend we're seeing. We talked about the early in Roliza a few days ago. I mean, it seems like the entire class comes in early. Daylin's going to be one of those guys as well. He's just a really complimentary piece. And again, they want one more receiver that could be Michael Terry. That could be Kellogg Johnson. There's another of guys that they're still talking to. Dallas Wilson, the Oregon commit from Florida, they're still talking to him as well. Don't ever sleep on Texas. And the recruiting staff, when things are going this well in Austin, because like Matt Brown showed us, you can be a machine in the recruiting game when you're doing everything you need to on the field. One other thing, and I think the point you bring up about Steve Sarkeesian is spot on, and especially him, his effort, the offense, the production, draft picks, all that. But Chris Jackson is able to reap the benefits of all that as well as we've seen somebody do at the wide receiver coach position at Texas in a long time. No, you nailed it. It took Jackson a little while to get his footing. Beginning of last cycle, he was having to do the same thing. Kenny Baker was having to do right now, and that's kind of get your feet wet, figure out who the top targets are, and then start building relationships fast. And he always identifies that one guy out of state that he loves. Last cycle was Ryan Wingo. This cycle is Jamie French. And now, it's one of those things where Chris Jackson, if you talked to sources close to the program, he coaches up those guys pretty hard. You know, he's, he gets on to Wingo. He gets on a John Tae Cook. He gets on to Matthew Golden for little things, because they understand this guy did it at the NFL. He did it at the highest level. They see Jordan Whittington on Sundays. They see, I had not Mitchell. They see Xavier Worthy. All those pieces to that puzzle make it a beautiful picture. And Chris Jackson's a part of painting that. And actually, he's also, you can, you need to start giving him a little credit for his development, because I'm not sure how many guys I know Ryan Wingo was a stud. It still took time to get him ready to be able to play as a true freshman in this new conference on this team in 2024. He's done that. So when it's not Jackson's not just going from being a pretty good recruiter. He's also adding pretty good developer on his, on his resume. And again, when you have three guys drafted the year before, that helps. They're going to have a few more drafted over the next few years. You know, you got to tip your cap to Chris Jackson. He saw him commit to Florida State in mid-July. It kept talking to him, did not care, wanted to build that relationship, wanted to get to know Dylan a lot better. And I think they really like him as a kid, not just a prospect, like a culture fit. And right now, that's what Sark and Jackson are looking for. Perfect way to put it all together. Justin, thank you.
