Hey everybody welcome back to boozy bracketology you know we believe in strong drinks strong opinions and chronic champions and we have the entirety of the sweet 16 for the best Simpsons treehouse of horror bracket we got 16 picks left no take that back 15 picks left eight of them on this episode mike I did the math I'm right it's okay thank you for checking though Jay Jay is very proud yes she is but let's go out let's meet the contestants first up down at St. Petersburg Florida and putting on my friend how you doing what you drinking Oh boy I switched from my beautiful annual pass holder because I crushed that back to wine I'm going back to OG just you know finishing off that bottle from the first episode so I'm just torturing myself for work tomorrow yeah we've been recording for a while y'all y'all next up Reno Nevada Sarah Bales my friend how you doing what you drinking hi Chris so tonight's perfect it's like 50 degrees out and raining so I feel like it's perfect for this but I'm gonna cap it off I'm like half root beer half water I'm going hardcore I know but sticking with the water in the root beer still hey no shame in your game you know there is shame in Will's game will my friend how you doing what you drinking I'm doing good I'm inspired by Anne to do a Simpsons greeting so I'll say hi diddly hoe because I couldn't think of anything else doing great I'm gonna I have another beer open but I can't not crack a new beer open so I'm gonna double fist for a little bit first the I'm going back to my first beer from episode one of this recording the fest beer logger from revenge and I said I'll celebration of October fest go excellent fantastic as always and to the next episode where Will opens a Zima next pen next person here Chris my friend how you doing what are you drinking I'm doing well ready to discuss some Simpsons more here at length I am still drinking the American IPA doubles paint box from Tangle's roots brewery here in Ottawa Illinois hey we'll take it we'll take it it does sound delicious speaking of delicious no take go back take that rewind it back Mike my friend how you doing what are you drinking I'm sorry you'll have to speak up I'm wearing a towel I'm doing great happy to be here excited because we're really getting down into the nitty grittiest some of the best and most memorable treehouse of horror episodes and an honor of one of the most memorable Simpsons gags that has been ongoing pretty much since the beginning I brought a beer called the in-school suspension hazy India pale ale from straight to ale brewing Bart this one's for you remember you can't have it until you're 13 that's a sherry bobbins episode reference anybody didn't get that anyway this this is a really good hazy straight to ale great brewery right here in Huntsville down at this campus 805 area that is a middle school that was not abandoned but they no longer hold classes there so they turned it into a bunch of breweries and it's awesome I'm gonna come to Huntsville just to drink out on middle school campus the entire gymnasium is now straight to ale brewing and it's filled with big old brew kettles and everything that's great is there playgrounds for the kids there's a big old yeah there's a big old stretch of field right in the middle between straight to ale and yellow hammer so you can go sit they give you a little purple cup so you can walk outside and drink your beer watch your kids it's awesome happy page and penny you're gonna have a good time doing that yes sir so I made a mistake last episode the mistake wasn't the coke zero Oreo but that does not fall under my good decisions matrix the mistake was pairing it with jeffson's bourbon that was a bad thing but I did a good good thing because I have legitimately one of my favorite bottles here mid-winter's night's dram out of Utah this is act seven scene two this bottle is from pre-COVID it is almost gone I got about two pours left one of them is gonna be a night looks like one for Chris it's gonna be a half a pour a couple ounces in there it'll work it'll work and I'm gonna have some good and I'm gonna have some bad because I found out a couple days ago that they made an Oreo flavored a Coca Cola flavored Oreo flavored Coca Cola did not know they also made a Coca Cola flavored Oreo but I found that out when I went to Publix I have one half the side it looks like an Oreo cookie the other half does not I'm gonna try this life on the air because what the hell else do I got oh it tastes like toothpaste you said what else do I have and I'm like oh it doesn't your wife listen to this to simulate the carbonation they added pop rocks into the frosting oh my god no no good news is I also have some Publix on tweet and tea so cheers cheers cheers this is the present cheers after eating watching you know real cheers now oh that's so damn good all right if that if that cookie has offended drink but that and all is mended and that is the nerdiest thing that will be said tonight I hope we're moving we're moving right in it's a midsummer night's dream I'm sorry I had to do it anyway we know where the ass is alright I almost got you with the nerdy comment there Mike I almost did you did good job Nick bottom all right tree house of horror number five is the overall one seed the four seed tree house of horror number 28 number five by the way if you don't remember that is the shinning time and punishment in nightmare cafeteria taking on the sweet hereafter the exorcist Cora Lisa in Homer and we're starting with you I will bring up that 28's Cora Lisa is one of the memorable segments for me and the leprechaun comes back so I mean yeah but I am super sad to see him and Neil game and go in this one because I I absolutely love episode five I fully anticipate this to move on so I'm only going to reference the dad your hands in the toaster from time and punishment and he flails it around for about 30 seconds and then there's a fantastic beat before they go your hands in the toaster again and it is just such a fantastic start to that segment among many other things I hope we get to continue to talk about I am voting for episode five episode five has first vote Sarah I'm kind of with and on this one I would be very surprised to see episode five stop here I'm gonna move it forward there's just episode five just it's great all around ends with the fog that turns people inside out twenty eight I actually didn't even vote for it the first time so this is episode five for me to know for episode five will oh man okay I said in the in the previous time we discussed twenty eight I really liked to possess you baby it was such a long time coming to see like an exorcist bit done and wait is that the exorcist one either way yeah yeah pizzos is like legitimately creepy and weird I feel this is such a good battle of like the old and the new you've heard me talk about how much like not a lot but the twenties of the Simpsons seasons are really bad and twenty eight coming out right towards the end of the twenties you know comes out season twenty nine it's like hey things are turning around this is getting better a lot of people don't love the Homer eating himself bit I think it's pretty funny and weird maybe I'm just you know I'm I like that kind of stuff cannibalism fun kids give it a shot self cannibalism no less self yeah I mean I know what I eat I probably taste good no I'm gonna stick with five though I do love the shining bit there's a lot like the whole episode's good but this the start the episode off with them like oh we forgot to lock the door or whatever and they got to go back and and then they like they go back on the third time they're like we left there and put the gas station and they just keep driving poor Abe Simpson is constantly picked on I'm picking five to move on five has got another vote next pick here is going to Chris yeah so I mean it's it's five I mean that's that that's going through clearly I do think episode twenty eight between you know the exorcist the the Cora Lisa the moment I think that is probably the creepiest episode as far as like watching it and just not feeling great which I kind of like for my horror I like to think of this I shouldn't be watching this this is disgusting but yeah episode five episode five's got yet another vote Mike do we have a sweep I will agree with Chris episode 28 is one of the more unsettling of the treehouse of horror episodes and it is all the segments are I'm I'm on the I'm not a fan of the home or him eating himself thing but I think the first two segments are both really good there's a couple of great gags Bart soul being too dark for pazuzu is of course always fun but yes this is absolutely a sweep there's so many great gags in in five and each each segment within five is both has that strikes that perfect balance of creepy but also really funny that is exactly what you want from treehouse before and it does it all three times so and let's be honest especially these days this is indeed a disturbing universe so five is going to get my vote five does secure the sweep we are moving on Sarah you are going to kick us off with this one you're going to have the three seed treehouse of horror number 11 which features goo goo dad scary tales can come true in night of the dolphin taking on the two seed treehouse of horror number two with the monkeys paw the Bart zone and if I only had a brain I think I'm going to make some of you mad this time around and I'm I'm really sorry episode 11 it didn't it just didn't do anything for me I didn't really like the the dolphin one I kind I know you do we're snorky or snarky or one of the dolphins I'm sorry to be honest number two is probably not my favorite of the very early of the shows but Homer Frankenstein I'm I'm going to go with that when the monkeys paw that's like one of the very early ones that I do remember specifically and it's pretty good it still holds up so I'm going to vote number two and see what happens Sarah's going with a solid number two will oof I mean the rest of these episodes for this bracket and they're all going to be tough battles this is really close for me I love a lot of the bits with 11 with like I said I think I said it before like Homer pulling Rapunzel scalp off and I think Anne mentioned George Cauldron being real is this a low bearing candy cane is such a good quote but a two is just so damn good the monkey pop it is it's an I'm sure it was an instant classic I wasn't Mike I didn't watch it live I was too young to comprehend TV I think to have some really really great quotes and I'm hoping I can talk about the more but I will say hey everybody I'm a stupid more with an ugly face and a big light my butt smells and I like to kiss my own butt it's so good I think to deserves to go on two's got another vote Chris yeah I mean not I hate to kill the suspense here to start things off but I mean episode 2 is clearly it I didn't vote for 11 the first time I don't even really like 11 so I don't know if that upsets anybody but no episode 2 hands down episode 2 has another vote Mike yeah very similarly I don't actually remember if I voted for 11 or not last time but I know I do recall speaking because I remember the look on Anne's face when I said I didn't particularly care for the night at the night of the dolphin segment but I do want to say that I'm also not the biggest fan of the the last segment of to the Frankenstein parody I think I just think it's overshadowed so much by the first two segments is really more that reason than anything else and I do want to say that the dolphin segment does have the one great line about we've wiped out our entire an entire species before and we can do it again when they're coming at the top it's like that's dark but it's actually really funny but I think we got this one right I think this is to I will say I do think two is probably the weakest of maybe even like the first eight or so tree house of four episodes which is I mean that's I mean that's the golden age so it's not super surprising but still I will I will say that I don't know how much further it's gonna go but I do think we got it right here. Who's got another vote let's end this one and so yeah I get that I'm the lone dolphin fan but however learning his name is snorky and not snarky I mean he's pretty much dead to me at this point and I can't even take that episode series I'll never be able to watch it again. The monk on the other hand episode two the monkey's paw was the OG I don't know disdain in my household of my parents finding out that I learned things from the stem systems is knowing knowing the plot of an is been short story my dad was like so proud and only for me to be like well they did it on tree house of horror really like crushed him so like I genuinely remember this episode very very strongly if not for the turkeys a little dry being the like key the turkeys a little dry I mean and and I'm like I will piggyback on the fact that I am worried about this one going much further because in my personal opinion frankenstein's one of the few stories that simsons has done twice yes and so I kind of I throw away that segment honestly so the barred zone and monkeys paw are carrying this for me which doesn't mean it's a perfect episode but I'm going to also vote for episode two to give it this week two sweeps in a row I'm waiting for the strong opinions guys let's see if we share strong opinions it's fine fucking snarky I mean crazy wow you have a bunch of simsons fans in the room we all tend to kind of be like a hive mind when it gets I get to show you what this is I wish y'all would leave my house get the fuck out we we are moving on it is going to be the one seed tree house of horror number 33 which features the pukadook death tome and simsons world taking on tree house of horror number 24 oh the places you'll don't dead and shoulders and freaks no geeks and let's start with our resident geek will shit alright and I have definitely said enough that we don't love when the things being parodied are not horror things but that being said I love 33 for a newer Simpsons episode it's so it's like I already feel so special to me even though like I haven't watched it a billion times like I have a lot of these other things the the Babadook thing was so good the death note the death note was just so well done it was done by a real anime studio it's just so special to me I really enjoyed it that being said I do love 24 I think there are some really great bits I don't know if I mentioned before I loved like Bart like tying the kite to his neck and then aren't like we don't get enough arnie pie in the sky I think in the Simpsons it's definitely one of the like the lesser brought-up characters and the fact that he gets the the the cavitate Bart it was a lot of fun um the circus freaks are great I love I always love when mr. Burns is like they show off how weak he is and smithers puts a top hat on his head and then he just like collapses because he's so damn frail um but again I gotta go back to 33 everything about it is fantastic to me the ending with Bob's burgers is great I'm a big Bob's fan so yeah I'm pushing 33 forward 33's got its first vote Chris uh yeah I mean I remember talking about 24 and Mike I I have to actually thank you for this because thinking back on 24 I commented on the freaks that it really I didn't do much for me I didn't hold back I went back and re-watched that and that was actually a very good segment like a throwback to that that movie um I mean it's not enough to make it better than episode 33 though um I'm hoping we're gonna talk more about it but um I mean it did win an Emmy too it's only the second time so you know um for me and for a lot of what we'll kind of touch down there 33 gets my vote 33 it's got the vote next pick here goes to Mike yeah again uh hate to kill the suspense but this is 33 24 we we we talked a lot about the uh the great cold open in 24 last time uh we you know I think we we had split opinions on the on the fat in the hat uh parody there with with some of it but I enjoyed it well enough uh and as Chris mentioned that the freaks parody was on point especially when they do the one of us one of us thing it's it's got some good stuff in it but 33 is three very good segments which is not something that typically has happened in treehouse of horrors especially in recent years even some of the older uh ones that we consider absolute classics now are two very good segments and one kind of forget of one this one has all three as to end it that that death tome one in the middle especially with the cool animation like like we'll mention that actually actually animated by an anime studio so many fun stuff in there I love it when she's like trying to come up with all the different ways to kill people uh and so she has like the gator come out of the toilet and it's like oh what the hell let's have a lion come out of the toilet dude it's a lot of great fun gags in that one so uh 33 is getting my vote as well and uh let's move it on 33 does have the vote and I don't think I voted for 24 the first time I'm not really sure um I know I'm not I don't love the cat in the hat one and uh but you all almost if I voted for it you probably won me over because of that Guillermo del Toro opening which is stunning however comparatively to death tome which is I mean just gorgeous and beautiful and I thought they did a really good job on I mean the the Westworld parody was a bit of like fun Easter eggs for Simpsons fans it was just chock full of references to I mean the canyon narrow came back right it's just they knew what they were it's like they finally kind of recognized all right we'll give you we'll give you some legit horror tropes we'll give you some good parodies and we'll give you some of these Easter eggs because we know that's what you want it was the first one in a couple of years that was just like this is really really good so I I'm very happy with 33 to be moving forward and Sarah finishes off here what are your thoughts don't forget all of the Ralphs in the Simpsons world too yes exactly I love the Ralphs come on this one honestly when I first watched it kind of surprised me how much I like it but 33 33 is moving on to the elite eight it'll be on the next episode we are moving on Chris you're gonna kick us off on this one you're going to have the three seed treehouse of horror number nine which features hell to pay the terror of tiny tune and starship poopers ticking on the two seed treehouse of horror number three featuring clown without pity king Homer and dial Z for zombies oh boy starship poopers I this is a tough one and I I don't know if there's a right or wrong and any of these held hell to pay I mean I love that segment I love the itchy and scratchy just as the concept and then the kids getting stuck in there with it is amazing starship poopers is great even though it's got those aliens involved in it I love the intro on nine with Freddie and Jason I think I talked about it before and that and Robert England actually guest our device Freddie on that so that's pretty cool number three a king Homer is fine I mean it's it's good it's a nice parody same with dial Z for zombies I mean not you know but clown without pity again is in my top five favorite segments of all of them so for that I'm gonna vote for episode three episode three it's got its first vote next picker goes to Mike yeah I'm gonna disagree with Chris this is not a difficult decision at all for me it's not that I have anything against nine but I didn't vote for last time but I have nothing against nine it's I just kind of middle of the road for me I do think it's got some good stuff that the health you pay segment is great I love at the end of starship poopers how Marge tricks the aliens into going and killing all the politicians that's kind of fun but this is this is very clearly episode three to me there there's so much fun in there Chris mentioned clown without pity it that's got again that great mix of kind of creepy but it's also really really funny and then of course the the great gag about the clown being set to evil king Homer I admit as far as this as far as second segments go it's not the best but it's still got a couple of great memorable moments it's got um it's got smithers going well you know what I think mr burns women and c men don't mix we know what you think it's such a great line and then dial z for zombie I honestly that might be my favorite segment even over clown without pity it's got the great it's got dad you killed the zombie Flanders he was a zombie so many great moments in three it is getting my vote easily over nine on this one three he's got another vote and up to you I think I did vote for nine in the beginning but it kind of limped in mainly because of the hell to pay I wanted to give snake a little bit of a shout out but even though even with poochy getting hit by a car and caffeine read this uh-huh getting their shout out um I don't oh yeah like is there anything you can prescribe doctor for Maggie fire like she turns into an alien I mean I know Sarah you were you were team Jerry Springer in this one for sure I I give some props to this episode I think it deserved to make it past a couple of other ones however I agree with everybody else that clown without pity is your problem you got him set to evil um and that that is just there's so Homer does the bologna bit that's where the by bologna has a first name it's a show me my heart comes from that is like that's right I will say I'm that's going on my tombstone so for that reason episode three has got another vote let's go over to Sarah so in will's eyes I'm old and I am old because if you didn't stay homesick from school and watch Jerry Springer and Price is right did you even have a childhood I am still I'm voting for episode nine to go through hands down um that is one that I remember very vividly as a kid even the snake with snake and then the kids inside were itchy and scratchy inside the movie I mean they they show an itchy and scratchy episode every single one like there has to be one where they're part of it so yeah I mean episode nine Jerry Springer Maggie's baby king I love everything about it that's all we're in for now Sarah always the contrarian episode nine has got its first vote will what do you think this is tough um I love I love the snake bit as Ann said in nine it's great to see him show up and I uh at your house of horror I love that like Lisa like finally is the one who like gets proven wrong like not wrong like she got there after everyone else when she's like of course the transplant somehow snakes hair must be and then mard is like Lisa everyone's already figured it out that is good that is good so it's funny to see that uh rubbed interface I if I know this is a audio medium but I think if you could see me I've been throwing my hands up every five seconds because definitely Ann and my keep taking all the bits I want to talk about um but because I pure like I'm gonna vote for three and one of the reasons is pure nostalgia like that like the the scene before the segments like with the Halloween party and Homer's not that this happened to my family but his toga falling off and Martin just up his callio open but like them feeling all the food and like you know them passing around like oh this is brains and guts and Homer's eating it like it's just so nostalgic to like Halloween parties when I was a kid like it's so much fun and that's that's not all the bits I want to talk about but three is going for it for me Will we can talk about more of your bits later three is moving on Yeah baby From Warren Will's bitch check out our patreon all right please don't patreon it's only bits pieces all right next up Mike you're gonna kick us off here the one scene from this portion of the bracket is tree house of horror number four featuring wrap-around the devil and Homer Simpson terror at five and a half feet and Bart Simpson's Dracula taking on the four-seat tree house of horror number 23 the greatest story ever hold on normal activity in Bart and Homer's excellent adventure oh the way my brain works it took me a second to realize you said wrap-around and not something else anyway so yeah 23 yeah exactly 23 I spoke fondly about it before it's it's a it's a pretty good middle of the road episode especially for that era of the Simpsons where you weren't getting the tree house of horror quality overall was starting to decline a little bit again I said I said last time I thought that the unnormal activity segment has a certain creepiness factor to it and the ending is actually is really fun they have some fun with the time travel in the Bart and Homer's excellent adventure thing too but come on four there are so many for whatever reason I've been sitting here trying to say okay which bit am I gonna do to talk about four because there's so many great bits and for whatever reason all of a sudden my brain landed on Lionel huts going a contract is unbreakable unbreakable and everybody pauses for saying goes excuse me I have to use the rest of me because people to the bathroom it climbs out the window and I had them march with the picture and then Homer gave her his soul so it belonged to her and not the devil and that's just that's just one of the great bits in Dracula too when Homer's trying to drive the state through the through his heartening miss as it hits his crotch like so much fun with that episode they were this is just that time when they were firing on all cylinders there's so much so many memorable stuff even the quote unquote weak middle segment terror at five and a half feet is still hilarious so I'm gonna get for my vote four has got its first vote and I'm probably the outlier here in that terror at five and a half feet is not the weak segment of where I fit I freaking love again my nerdiness that's kind of what launched me into looking into Twilight Zone episodes and seeing the influence for this and one of the greatest Twilight episodes ever and they do a fantastic job with it um I personally the zoom was what limped in 23 for my vote like last round so I I don't think it can compete with four all three are very very good quality Dracula is another one that has a horror reference material that it it kind of does shot for shot at some points and just burns his hair alone can give extra points to that segment so perfect to the the best of the Dracula movies if you will sorry knows for a two but I will be voting for episode four as well episode four has got a second vote Sarah and you're not alone I really loved her at five and a half feet sorry Mike I'm I'm with her on this one I didn't say I did it I think it's amazing it's just the weakest of the three it's 95 anyway um got off track there but yeah I I didn't have much around I did talk I did vote for 23 in the last round um I do love the fact that the demon's name is cinnamon um I don't know why but I love that the demon's name is cinnamon but the yeah this this one is four for me too four has got another vote will all right so my vote doesn't matter right um I this is so hard for me like I think four is such a great like again all three segments like really hit but I honestly probably would have voted for I mean I'll vote for 23 no matter what like it's not going to win so I might as well give it a pity vote I still I do think all the bits are so I think it's all really good um I I owned a zoom originally um so I definitely love the zoom bit like and does um I love the devil's three-way comment I love Jewish Jewish Barney Ziff um it's a lot of and then the black hole I did really enjoy that I love the the soccer the Mayan intro and uh is it Mo whose whose head gets chopped off and he's like man the soccer's boring even for the ball um as an American I think that's hilarious um yeah I vote for 23 it means absolutely nothing uh so I feel proud in giving it a vote 23 does have one vote Chris going to you um yeah I mean again vote doesn't really matter on this one um I I do think Tara at five and a half feet's actually pretty good I I think it's actually stronger than the Dracula one um but with that being said number four going through number four is going through it'll be in the next episode let's see what else is gonna get there we got three picks left and you're gonna kick us off on this one you have got the six seed tree house of horror number 25 which features school as hell a clockwork yellow and the others taking on the three seed tree house of horror number six featuring a tack of the 50 foot eyesores nightmare and evergreen terrace and Homer three this one's actually I mean they're getting harder they're gonna get really really hard that's what you said aha yoyi shaz but uh they're gonna get it worse um as as it goes on of my nostalgia and just the ones that as like Will has mentioned the 20s are tough and the fact that 25 I actually think is quite good gives it a little bit more leverage um when my original rating system I have 25 rated higher than six and I I don't think I can follow that rating system because on Elm Street is just by itself I personally think that segment is better than school as hell a clockwork yellow and the others all individually I and it that's a tough thing and it Homer at the time that Homer cubed one we we that blew our minds I remember watching this live being like oh my god they did 3d animation this is crazy and that end scene of him walking down the street it's like when he makes the comment of this is the most expensive like this is incredibly this feels incredibly expensive it's like it absolutely had to have been and it was the first episode they nominated for an Emmy and they regret it but I don't think they should I think like I'm gonna have to change my mind and vote for six because I do as much as that Kubrick segment is so good oh yeah six I'm voting for six going on six has its first vote Sarah here's where I'm struggling with is my nostalgia just because it's a nostalgic or is it really good but the the one with Willie the nightmare when I I still think about that a lot when falling asleep no I'm just resting right oh damn this one wasn't too close for me my votes for is for six six got another vote let's go to will uh yeah this is stuff I've actually never seen clockwork orange but I they I know enough about it and they did such a good bit mo being the the lead I guess the narrator was such like it seemed so perfect such a good role for mo um any narrator great uh there was another frosty chocolate milkshakes callback in that one um I loved Ralph being stuck in the in the sandbox and concrete in the beginning uh Ralph's one of my favorite characters um but I'm gonna go six it's just it's two it's such a classic for me I think a lot of boozy bracketology uh we're kind of slaves in nostalgia and I'm I'm one of those people uh it's so hard not to to go with it and we talked about it before I mean the the advertising mascots I think is just so iconic to me so I'm gonna go with six six has picked up another vote Chris oh man so we talk about nostalgia 25 the others that's where they feature the family from the Tracy Allman show right you don't get any more nostalgia than that people now I don't know maybe maybe me and Mike are the only ones that were watching it live I remember having to sit through that shit Tracy Allman show just to get to the Simpson bits like that was it that was oh my god I was torn I'm actually glad that that I didn't have to pick between those but I made for nostalgia see seeing them show up on the others uh yeah I think we made the wrong call I'm voting for 25 25 has one vote Mike take us home well Chris I'm sorry I'm not quite that old the first I was even aware that the Simpsons was a Tracy Allman bit was the 138th episode spectacular I never I never did watch I never did catch those old bits but uh but nonetheless I do understand where you're coming from because I do know the experience of sitting through like a bunch of stuff that you don't care about to get to that that few minutes of the stuff that you're really there for I I was very torn on this one as well because I have a lot of nostalgia for six and I think it's got some really really good stuff but 25 is just such a great episode in the middle of a lot of stuff that they that wasn't all that good in terms of the treehouse of horror segments and I the the Kubrick parody in particular with the clockwork yellow and where they where they do the speed run when they're in his apartment is is a hilarious parody if you've seen the movie and then I I genuinely was not expecting this sudden pivot to oh now we're in eyes wide shut oh and now we're referencing literally like every Stanley Kubrick movie made oh he just opened the door and there's you know private pile with his gun and everything like that it's it is a genuinely very good treehouse of horror episode if it had come down to me I would have voted for six I think but I'll be talking about six more I'm gonna throw 25 another vote just because I think it deserves it 25 get the pity vote for Mike we are moving on though Sarah two picks left this episode you're leading us off here the one seed from this portion of the bracket treehouse of horror number seven that features the thing and I the genesis tub in Citizen Kang taking on the four seed treehouse of horror number 20 which features dial M for murder or press pound to return to the main menu don't have a cow mankind and there's no business like Mo business this one was a little bit tough for me so like my biggest fear with Halloween like why I don't go to hallow scream or Halloween horror nice because I feel like there can be a murderer there just murdering people and it'll take a really long time for somebody to figure it out and with the monsters coming alive at the beginning and like that's my biggest fear but seven I will be honest is just one don't don't laugh me it's just one of my favorites um I love the thing and I the genesis tub and Citizen Kang when they're walking down the streets holding hands and then when Lisa creates the civilization I don't know that that one gets as much love but I love that segment um so while 20 is is great I love the crisscross thing but uh I'm going seven on this one Sarah Paul and Monica Geller and going seven seven next pick goes to Will um definitely echoing uh I'm gonna echo a lot of what uh Sarah said uh I but I do think 20 was it got it got to the sweet 16 for a reason uh I think it has some really great bits uh but ultimately I think seven like is so much more memorable to me I talked about Hugo before I love the exchange between uh Dr. Hibber and Lisa and Dr. Hibber calls them uh Siamese twins and Lisa's like I think they prefer to be called conjoined twins Lisa so it says that um that uh Hail Billies prefer to be called sons of the soil but it ain't gonna happen um there's some just really great quotes and when I'm talking about echoing Sarah it's not super Halloweeny but Lisa creating the micro civilization is I think a really really fun bit and that she gets trapped there is even better part part turns it in for the science fair and and uh skin is like Willie throw the other projects that we have a winner you know like I can just imagine like being a kid in the science fair and your shit's getting thrown in the trash what the fuck like uh yeah it's too good to me seven's gotta take it seven's got another vote Chris going to you hmm yeah so the Genesis tub yeah not not very Halloweeny uh Simpson's even make this joke I don't remember what episode it is but what does aliens have to do with Halloween right it might the Simpsons throw that gag in there I think they do they do yeah uh episode seven is probably my least favorite of the top 10 um so I'm gonna vote for 20 20 has its first vote Mike going to you uh shit yeah I um yeah I was kind of hoping this would be decided before it came to me because I do think this is a difficult matchup there's a lot of things to recommend 20 uh talked about the universal monsters opening and that's really funny especially when their wives show up I'm using a lot of it I mean especially like you'll be sucking your own blood tonight is like oh wow that's like okay we're going there all right uh some really fun stuff in there we talked about the crisscross just Lisa misunderstanding Bart's double speak was just hilarious and and I'm sorry I know I mentioned it last time but Julie caverners line reading of uh when when up who goes you can apologize in hell and she goes I guess I will I guess I could like Julie caverners line reading all that is just so perfectly delivered it cracks me up but there's so much there's so much about seven like we usually when the Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors go hyper topical or hyper current events it ages and it ages quickly and it does it you can't go back to it and Citizen Kang is not that even though it's about the Clinton versus Dole election which is like maybe like other than for us older farts Regan Mondale the biggest landslide election of our lifetimes like but it just it's so it's so good like I I got my I'll tell you a story this is funny I went to vote in the primary uh earlier this year and I got my I voted sticker I went to work I stuck my I voted sticker on my whiteboard and around it I wrote don't blame me on one side and four codos on the other side and it is still there like that is how that is how like much I still reference I have a shirt that I that I insist on wearing to uh elections when I go to uh to the voting booth when I go to vote in elections and it actually has a picture of uh codos on it and it says don't blame me I voted for codos it's just that that the other two parts of seven are also really good but I feel like Citizen Kang is just continually referenced I feel like it's something that we all it's it's what we're all there for for seven uh so I am going to vote for seven as well although I do think 20 is actually a really good three hours before episode it deserved to be here but I'm gonna move seven along he wore that shirt to my wedding by the way all right did you and I got instagram like nobody's business did you get married in a polling place you don't know all right we're I was gonna say 2016 was a rough year but it was 2014 it was all right we are moving on our last pick is going to Anne thank you mike for making the choice for me because I don't know I don't know I would have struggled a little bit and it makes it a little easier now um 20 again I crisscross as strangers on okay if you have not seen strangers on a train oh yeah oh yeah you absolutely need to watch it for how there is an end scene where they are on a carousel with like horses that is shot for shot perfect the playground carousel of Bart and Lisa and I mean it's just really really really good cinema I don't know and television but the Arsenio hall being the last book in the world in the caliphan city halls book is uh where she's like no dad that's the last book and he's like good and she looks at it and goes oh never mind they just throw it away um and then when Mo writes a letter to Marge from the Homer that is in Mo speak and she starts reading it he's and she's like he's gay and he's like don't worry it gets gay 20 has some pretty fantastic yeah hey midge it's sorry I'm I left yeah I love men he's gay yeah it gets gay her keep reading it's pretty fantastic but I will agree with what everybody else said um on the thing and I the genesis of sent us and it's really citizen king continuing to carry this for me and I hope we continue to twirl twirl twirl towards always twirling towards freedom as we keep moving on here so it's gonna be seven for me seven is going to be moving on to the last episode we got one pick left will you are the person we have decided it's going to start this one off the three seed the OG tree house of horror number one featuring bad dream house hungrier the damned and the raven taking on the two seed tree house of horror number eight that features the hoe mega man fly versus fly and easy bake coven whoa boy uh this might be one of the hardest ones for me that I've come across um I mean the first episode is such a classic uh obviously but it just I always loved like the intros with like Marge or Homer or anyone like talking about like you know steering kids away from watching because it's gonna be so gruesome and horrible and uh it's just so fun to me because I mean obviously it's on it's a cartoon on tv it's not gonna be that bad um but it's a lot of fun um I love the first episode with uh you know the Simpsons getting um abducted by kang and kudos and Lisa and like they're gonna treat them actually pretty nicely and then Lisa like goes like like she finds the book about uh how to cook 40 humans and then they get so mad that like Lisa was snooping and they distrust her uh so she ruined she ruined the family's chance of paradise uh bar as the raven I think is such a good bit um I didn't know what I was gonna pick I've talked a lot about a like just a fox sensor uh in the beginning is very funny but I'm gonna go with the original I'm well with number one it seems wrong not to so yeah number one's got its first vote Chris uh yeah this one's not that hard for me um it's number one and mainly the raven I I think that's really all that I mean they're all good segments um the raven's just great so take two good one great versus three good yeah episode one episode one's got a second vote let's bring this over to Mike so I'm looking ahead at the elite eight and so far throwing out 33 we have two three four five six and seven you can't be shocked and I'm I didn't say I was shocked but the reason I bring that up is because it feels wrong if that's our selection and we don't also have one in the mix and that's nothing against eight I do think it's got some good segments I spoke uh as especially about the home mega man segment I think is fantastic but this is the best Simpsons tree house of horror bracket and the reason is because the very first one they were telling scary stories in Bart's tree house they they obviously not away from that motif but that was the that was the reason it that it started uh and I all three of these segments are really really good uh we haven't even talked a lot about bad dream house but the house that chooses to self-destruct rather than spend an eternity with the Simpsons or even one more minute with the Simpsons is really a great gag and especially in those early Simpsons when they were just like the uh they were just like this family that that was just that just seemed so awful like nowadays I feel like they almost seem downright wholesome in many ways but that was the way they were perceived at the time you know we needed somebody more like the family's more like the Waltons and less like the Simpsons right so uh yeah tree house of horror one I think deserves to move on here and it's going to get my vote Mike in an effort to ensure that the uh the elite day is as you know well represented as possible one ahead and ruined it because up until now it would be one two one two one two one two one two but now it'll be a one two a one two a one two and a one three touche as tree house of horror number one gets its third vote it is moving on but I do want to hear from Anne I mean I'm not going to disagree uh because I do think the first one is is absolutely what launched the whole franchise for a reason um I love when Homer calls the realtor and said you didn't tell us it was built on an Indian burial ground and the realtor tells him like I mentioned it's six or seven I am kind of amazed we haven't talked about Homer going through his family and omega man and they're all in the same exact pose holding a baseball bat for some reason like that kills me every time however I would have also voted for episode one on this on this matchup Sarah would we do we have a sweep I think so I feel like that's the way it should go um I just wanted to point out and I don't know if it's just me whenever you're shopping from vivr spy when they're getting the transporter he's like two dollars and it only transports matter that's right I actually probably quote eight more than I quote one uh but I I think we did make the right call it's where else can you go with it so it's a sweep it is a sweep to end the episode which means going into our championship episode we are going to have the one seed treehouse of horror five taking on the two seed treehouse of horror two the one seed treehouse of horror 33 taking on the two seed treehouse of horror three the one seed treehouse of horror four taking on the two seed treehouse of horror six and the one seed treehouse of horror seven taking on the three seed treehouse of horror one whoo if any of you followed what I just said god bless you it's great
