AP News, I'm Hyappen Jwani. A new study says climate change is making heat waves more dangerous. AP's Lisa Dwyer reports. Giant heat waves have started to crawl slower across the globe. Not only are heat waves moving slower, they are baking more people for a longer period of time with higher temperatures over larger areas. The study calculates that since 1979, global heat waves are moving 20 percent more slowly meaning more people stay hot longer and they are happening 67 percent more often. Heat waves used to last about eight days. Now on average, they've stretched to 12 days. I'm Lisa Dwyer. A Texas appeals court has overturned a Fort Worth women's voter fraud case and five-year prison sentence for casting an illegal provisional ballot. AP correspondent Norman Hall has more. The court ruled that Crystal Mason did not know that bang on probation for previous felony conviction left her ineligible to vote in 2016. Mason says the seven years of litigation have been an ordeal. When I got the news yesterday, I was just overwhelmed with joy. It's been a long journey. Mason's lawyers called the prosecution malicious and politically motivated attorney Alison Grinter. This law has to be simplified, but I fear that it might be confusing on purpose. An advocacy group says Texas leads the nation by disenfranchising 450,000 citizens. At a news conference, Maryland, Governor Wes Moore says the collapse of the Baltimore Key Bridge is a, quote, economic catastrophe, unquote, affecting one of the nation's busiest ports. Maryland's economy and Maryland's workers rely on us to move quickly. But that's not just Maryland. The nation's economy and the nation's workers are requiring us to move quickly. Six crew members died while working on the span of the bridge. This is AP News. The government reported today that consumer prices rose 0.3% from January to February, decelerating from a 0.4% increase the previous month. Thousands of marshmallows rain down at a suburban Detroit park for the annual Great Marshmallow drop. Oakland County Recreation Program Supervisor Melissa Niroki says the kids scamper around to pick up the almost 15,000 marshmallows, but they don't eat them. So the kids will be able to collect a marshmallow and go and turn it in for a prize bag. The event has several different age groups, but also includes a heat for those with disabilities. Mom, Robin Kinney says it's a great event. Being a special needs mom, I love seeing events like these that are catered towards him, so he doesn't feel excluded. The prize bag contains candy, a coloring book, and a one day pass to a water park. Who has a marshmallow for me? You're a marshmallow. You're a marshmallow. I'm Hyappen Joani, AP News.
