Heavy lift cranes, including one that could handle 1,000 tons, are being deployed at the site of the Baltimore Key Bridge that was brought down earlier this week by a container ship. AP correspondent Norman Hall has more. A flotilla of cranes, tugs, barges, and salvage vessels will be used to break the bridge into chucks that can be lifted to reopen the port. The bodies of four workers have yet to be recovered. Eleanor Westmore says the loss of the Francis Scott Key Bridge has a wide impact. I'm Norman Hall. A new study says climate change is making heat waves more dangerous. AP's Lisa Dwyer reports. Giant heat waves have started to crawl slower across the globe. Not only are heat waves moving slower, they are baking more people for a longer period of time with higher temperatures over larger areas. The study calculates that since 1979, global heat waves are moving 20% more slowly, meaning more people stay hot longer, and they are happening 67% more often. Heat waves used to last about eight days. Now on average, they've stretched to 12 days. I'm Lisa Dwyer. A Texas appeals court overturned a voter fraud conviction for a woman on probation. In an interview, Crystal Mason says the conviction was causing her suffering. I lost jobs, lost good jobs, lost insurance, just every night crying, praying, asking God when it's the end. Lewis Gossett Jr., the first black man to win a supporting actor Oscar in an Emmy winner for his role in the seminal TV series Roots, has died. A statement from his family said Gossett died Friday morning. He was 87. This is AP News. American Airlines is easing its rules and allowing pets in addition to carry-on luggage. AP correspondent Jackie Quinn reports. Under the old rules, air passengers who brought a pet into the cabin would have to pay $150 and could only bring one small bag that could fit under the seat. Luggage would have to be checked for an additional fee. Now American Airlines is allowing more. Passengers can bring their pet into the cabin and their carry-on luggage. The airline didn't explain the reason for the change, but travel blogger Gary Lef said it had been frustrating that his small dog was counted as carry-on luggage since he was already paying a hefty pet fee.
