Článek Simony Procházkové. Vrozená vada kyčelního kloubu se projeví nejčastěji již v kojeneckém věku, proto by všechna miminka měla projít sérií specializovaných vyšetření. Neléčená dysplazie kyčlí způsobuje v dospělosti omezenou pohyblivost i bolesti zad a kolen. V extrémních případech je dokonce nutný chirurgický zákrok – výměna kyčelního kloubu.
Dysplazie kyčelního kloubu (dysplasia coxae congenita) je vrozenou vývojovou vadou, kdy jamka kyčelního kloubu není ještě zcela vyvinutá a je příliš malá nebo nedostatečně hluboká. V nejzávažnějších případech může dokonce hlavice stehenní kosti částečně nebo úplně z jamky vyklouzávat a v důsledku toho se může rozvinout luxace kyčle neboli lidově vykloubení. Případně pokud hlavice kyčle vypadává z jamky jen částečně, jde o subluxaci.
