2838: Future in the Skies: WFP Supports South Sudanese Young Women’s Aviation Skills Development
Thank you so much and yes, welcome back to the University of Juba where of course the celebration of the United Nations Day is taking place and today we would like to highlight quite a lot of the work that is being done by the United Nations agencies in the country and now we see here is from unhouse if you know the United Nations humanitarian aviation services or air services but from world food program we have pallet pallet will introduce herself and tell us what actually does actually that there is a program which is the one from volunteers program that world food have been involved in and that has also brought quite a lot of impact to the people of South Sudan let's talk to pallet thank you so much for joining us the noise a little loud so you can place your voice a little please tell us you'll pull them and what you do for the world food program thank you very much thank you for having me my name is pallet and this one is i'm a human resource officer in that way and in charge of talent acquisition so tell us about this world food program volunteer program what is it about the program is about promoting a female young female graduate in South Sudan it started in 2023 the main aim was to promote gender equality and as mentioned specifically female graduates in South Sudan not only that the other reason is also to give opportunities to young graduates to have that on job skills through practical experience and also explore opportunity for their career in different fields within the united nation and particularly in aviation thank you so just briefly tell us uh since you started this program had there been some really positive results of positive outcome that you like to highlight that you are proud of what uh came out of this program oh yes there are very huge positive results as i mentioned we started this program in 2023 and we have so far have three cohorts each cohort having four students for graduates and we expect to have the fourth cohort in the last quarter of the year so 12 students have gained the experience and so far among the 12th students we have returned two who are currently employed and working for owners so the positive part is really tremendous and also through that as wp we also create a pipeline of future talent female that we keep in our talents pipeline thank you thank you so very much for talking to us and we wish you all the best happy united nations thank you very much yes and now uh that is uh a human resource pro officer working for world food program particularly on their volunteers program that uh see tell us about what they do
