I see your connecting rooms are already confirmed. Hilton, for the stay. Lions fans. It's time for the podcast you've been waiting for. The Detroit Lions Podcast Post Game Show. Hey, hi, the whole Lions fans. Welcome to the Detroit Lions Podcast. This is episode 546. This is the official Detroit Lions Podcast for Reddit. I am your dashing host, Chris. And with me is my good friend, camera list. But as you can see, good friend, and co-host Andy Sandman. How are you doing, Mr. Solites? I'm good, man. I'm good. I'm almost as moist as the Lions. Oh, I erigled glasses. Just looked like those 80s Louvre glasses there for a while. What a shot that was. It was fantastic. It was fantastic. What a game. I love it, man. And like no matter what they put in front of this team, they will overcome. This is really, really something. The whole swim out to the depths and drown them. I feel that they've really taken it to heart that this is the personality of that team. You know, it's unbelievable to me as a lifetime Lions fan that we're actually seeing a Lions team that you can believe in. Like all the nerves aren't necessary anymore. You know, this team is going to do what it does and what it does is win. Oh, all the blood's rushing out of my brain. We got a lot to talk about. We're going to talk about today's game. We're going to cover coach Campbell's postgame presser and most likely Jared Goff as well. A little round table discussion and we'll take your calls like we love to do all that and hold that more. Mr. Sam and are you ready to go, my brother? Let's do it. Let's keep this off and break it down. All right. Kirby with the pick six. Lions fan with the cheese grater. Lions are getting too good. Started to get boring. Love that, Eric. Love being bored watching this team. Oh, man. Lucas Kimball. Hey, first place. Let's go on us. Yes. Yes, it does. Just a couple that did the chance. Go on Pazanko. Pazanko's here. Love it. Love it. Love it. No. Hutch. Davenport. Barnes. Branch. Of course it is a FTP. Michelle. And I've got to get this one in. No, Mr. Domus. So can we can all agree it's Chris's fault that we aren't undefeated right now, right? Undefeated with a post game podcast. Here we go. Oh, man. Brother, this one. I mean, I gotta admit, even in the fourth quarter with six minutes left, I had kind of a kind of a rock in my chest. And there was no reason for it to be there. I've said, I know to believe in this team. I know they can do it. But sometimes some of those old habits, man, they hit you. They still hit you. They're hard, man. They're hard to get rid of. But we have to just accept what the lines are. And that's a really good football team. Yes. Yes. Yes. All right. Andy, let's let me start with you. Let me get your breakdown. What did you like and what kind of gave you pause out there today? I mean, there's a lot to like today, to be honest. I thought overall Ben Johnson's play calling was perfect for this weather. You know, playing in this sort of scenario, especially when you don't get to practice in it a lot or ever in the Lions case. You know, it really can test a team's resilience. And the play calling was fantastic, the passes were at the right time, the runs were at the right time. Everything looked good. You know, as far as that goes, there were some, you know, drives towards the end that were a little whatever. But, you know, it feels like they were trying to run more clock than anything else, you know, not that they don't want first downs or whatever. But, and then, you know, the bad really is what we've been expecting the last couple of weeks, which is zero pass rush. We don't have one. It's, it's incredible that we held the Packers to what we did with zero pass rush. I think we had two quarterback hits on them. Is that your background or my background? I hear some, I hear female screaming and I don't know if it's yours or mine. Oh, no, it's not mine. Okay, something's happening pretty happy down there. Oh, man. Sorry. Sorry, I just, no, no, no, no. I thought we were here. We need to, we need to report female screams. I think that's the, that's the thing. But no, I mean, the pass rush just is what it is, man. And it, it, hopefully the rumors are true and we'll get somebody that can get to the quarterback that won't be gassed. You know, like James Houston, and we'll wait to see. It seemed like he played 80% of the snaps. We never want that. No. And the fact that we're winning in spite of zero pass rush in the way that we're winning, by the way, is insane. Aaron Glenn. I don't know if he's going to be here next year. I don't know how you can, you know, if you're, if you're a needy team. I think from last year fire him to this year, please don't go. Turns out Aaron Glenn just needs a secondary. You know, the same way that happy, go more or not happy, go more. Dang it. The football movie with Adam Sandler. He just needs water. Water boy just needs water. Yeah. Yeah. Aaron Glenn just needs a secondary. That's, that's, that's really weird. I will, I want to talk, we'll talk about branch a little bit for sure. We'll get to that. I want to, a little quick, the, the Zydarius Smith news that's breaking and it's, it's all but a done deal. I will, I can, there's, it should have been a done deal last week. He should have been playing against the Packers and I would have, I think that would have absolutely changed the face of this game. It would have been even more of a, a ball drag for the lions. But it got stopped. I'm not, I can't say anything. Why? I can't say it will, if it gets reported, I'll confirm it, but I just want it was, it should have happened a week ago. But it got paused for a specific reason. So we'll get there, but we're in a good spot. I think, I think the Smith news will come through here and we'll, we'll rock this, we'll rock this world. So good stuff. And that's a big help. I mean, how much, what does he have two years left in his contract? Andy? I think so. Yes. So we can have a year with him and hutch and with that. We can have them both in the Super Bowl. We should see. Oh my God. Oh, the block where? Oh my God. That's, that's, that's really good news to have the two of them out there and to be able to put that kind of pressure on. And then we shouldn't have that James Houston problem anymore. Because I think, you know, the, the, the jury's in on James Houston and the ability for him to, it's just too bad. It's too bad. He hasn't come back from that, that injury. And I think it's, that's probably it. Yep. Michelle, thank you. We're going to announce it early this show. We've got the hymns rock hard player of the week. We got Kirby Joseph taking home the award for that one again. Good, good, good work Kirby. Thank you, Michelle, for, for bringing that home for us. Okay. We're keeping watch for the, the, the post game presser to pop in here. I want to talk about something that's really interesting because we were chanting Jared Goff, you know, in Lambo is nice, nice, nice to, nice to hear. My guy only had the 145 yards passing today. I mean, it's two weeks in a row. I'm not saying he played poorly. That's not it at all. But how this team can continue to win on the ground like that is fantastic. It's absolutely fantastic to see. Sonic and Knuckles, those boys, they really, it's, I just, I'm stunned at how this team has come together and the level at which they're playing. I just, I didn't expect it to be this dominant, especially missing so many guys with so many guys out. Like who needs starters? You know, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know, Sam and I'm in a weird, happy kind of place with this team. They're outperforming even my expectations at this point. I think, you know, and we've talked about this for a long time with golf. You know, he needs to be in the system for him and this is 100% the system for him. And the coaching staff has done such a beautiful job. Just doing what they need to do to win. They're, they're not out here trying to, you know, had stats or to make Jared Goff look good or, and Jared Goff's not out there to look good. Jared Goff's out there to win. Yeah. And when that requires, you know, 11 for 11 in the first half, just, you know, for the most part, just moving the chains, you know, that's what, that's what he does. And that's, you know, winning games that are ugly like this that like stat wise, but aren't ugly in any other facet, you know, that's what good teams do. How many games have we seen the Chiefs win where my home is like, didn't play that great of a game and they still found a way to win or, you know, the Packers, you know, back in the day would Rogers would have a horrible game somehow didn't matter. They would make it happen. And now that's, that's us and having the running back to well that we have and being able to count on them for everything is just, it's kind of unbelievable, right? It's Brad Holmes has built a team in Dan Campbell, everybody that has a hand in what they want this team to look like. You know, they're the only team in the league that looks like this. The only team that constantly has a fresh running back because they can interchange them. You know, Montgomery can do what Gibbs does and Gibbs can do what Montgomery does for the most part. You know, and there's really, there's just no beats to miss. It's, it's incredible. It's, it's just really wild to, you know, look at this and imagine thinking that this was even possible two years ago. The family that vacations together stays together. At least that was the plan. Except now the dastardly desk clerk is saying he can't confirm your connecting rooms. Oh, wait, what? That's right, ma'am. You have rooms 201 and 709. No, we cannot be five floors away from our kids. You look at it quarter by quarter by quarter plus one at the end now because they've added a game on the schedule. But your eight games in and the team is seven in one. You completely won the second quarter. You were three and three and one in the first quarter. What a record for this team. And then as you look down the schedule and I look, I hate to look ahead and I hate to, you know, things happen, right? We talked about it after the loss. Good teams lose games sometimes. Sometimes they lose games against bad teams, right? It happens. But it's hard to look at that schedule and be able to really point and say that's that game there is a loss for this team. This is a really weird spot. Again, a very, very weird spot for Lions fans and the Detroit Lions to be. And on top of that kind of oddity, the confidence yet clarity that comes from the coaches, the players, even Brad Holmes, not overpaying, not freaking out about the Hutchinson injury, making sensible, smart, thoughtful choices along the way. Again, it's out of character for the Lions that most fans know. But this is just fantastic. And again, that lack of overconfidence, I think, is one of the key pieces that not only are helping them this year, but could really help the team over the long haul. If they can keep that kind of mindset, I don't see an end to this train. These tracks go on forever. And that's the thing, right? Is that they haven't leveraged any future for any of this. You know, thus far. Like, I guess we'll see what they traded for. You know, this is hilarious. But I think it's just an unbelievable job by Brad Holmes of getting the pieces that Brad needs to win or that Dan needs to win. And you're right. There's no real end in sight. You know, this isn't the Rams of a couple years ago. Really went all in. It brought in all these dudes and they knew that they weren't going to be able to pay half of them. You know, this isn't, this isn't that. There's like, this, this is a homegrown team. A hundred percent. Yeah. Which is just unbelievable. Yeah, it really is. Buzz, I'm pissed about the branch injection. That kind of play happens all the time. Some without penalties. That's, that's exactly right. I'm, I'm angry, angry, angry about that ejection penalty. Absolutely. Fair to call that penalty. That penalty was a, was a real penalty. You should have been called for that. It's just the way the game's rules are. It's whatever. But the ejection was an overstep. And the fact that it came from New York on top of it, that stinks. That really stinks to me. That's some kind of NFL cooking bullshit. I did not like that at all. No, man. It's, it's so wild to me that that's even a possibility. So, you know, New York calling in and saying like, Hey, he was clearly out of bounds. I don't mind that because that's helping the game move along. You know, that's, that's getting something right. The penalty was called the rest saw it. You know, it's not like they missed it. And New York had to call down. Yeah. That's, that's a bang, bang play. I, you know, the, what Dean Blandino said that New York said to him was that they thought he had time to back off of the hit. I don't know if that's true. This is the NFL. It's emotions. If you did. Yeah. If he had caught the ball in branch may or may not be able to see if he has the ball. In fact, then that hit, you, you want to make that hit. You want to try to jar it loose. You want to try to, you know, whatever. Was it a penalty? A hundred percent hit him right in the face. Yeah. But it was with the side of his own helmet. There wasn't malice. He didn't launch. You know, there seems to be. You know, like you said, I don't want to say home, home cooking, but he had a fellow or whatever. But honestly, you know, and I, I tweeted about it. To me, it's crazy that somebody, some nameless person in New York that we don't know who it is. And it's never going to be. It's to eject a player is never, yeah, they're never going to be accountable. We don't know who they are. We don't. How can we judge that person on anything? Right. You know, we, we don't know who they are. And it just seems incredible that they have the ability to do that when there's live referees that are paid well right there that saw it. And apparently didn't deem it to be ejection worthy. Yeah. And we hear that it happened just now in the Rams Seahawks game and they picked up the flag. Yeah. And then there's talk about like suspension. And if I swear, if they come through with a suspension, that's, that might, that might push me over the edge. I might buy a plane ticket to New York. That's bananas, that's bananas going all January 6 in New York. You know, yeah, I don't think so, but, you know, I think that's a little doom and gloom potentially. But yeah, because all the other objections that we've seen, you know, and I think some people posted other videos on, on Twitter about it, um, they were all launches. They were like clearly where the player was trying to knock the crap out of the other player. And that's, you know, he didn't leave his feet. He ran through them. There was no launching. There was no clear intent to me. If he gets suspended, yeah, I think there's going to be some, you know, major backlash, but I don't, I don't think that that's even going to be in play. They'll probably eat some nasty fine that's gnarly on his rookie contract. But the worst, yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's whatever it is, right? So I wanted to get to, we got to read super chat. Thank you for Loretto. What should I take away from the game when there's no Hutchinson branch, Pascal and Rodrigo? I think what I would take away, and I'll let a Sam and talk about this. I'd take away that we need starters, we need them. I would say that, you know, I don't want to draw parallels to the Patriots, because it's kind of two different styles of everything, but the backups just do their jobs. You know, they don't do them quite as well as the starters or even the second backups. You know, we have third guys and fourth guys in there, you know, and a couple of the bigger runs that we had today against us were because, you know, the defensive ends just couldn't disengage fast enough and, you know, that's, that is what it is, but it's, it's amazing how well everybody just is playing within the scheme and doing what they're supposed to do being where they're supposed to be. We don't have big mental breakdowns. We don't have guys running wide open or completely running to the wrong gap. You know, it's really just shows what Dan Campbell and crew really are doing here. You know, we've been talking about the whole time Dan Campbell's been here is that they're coaching these guys up and they're getting play out of people that theoretically people don't get play out of, you know, and it's, it's, you know, it's showing up right now. We've got, you know, who knows who at defensive end right now, we're missing everybody, you know, we've got, you know, linebackers out there that don't see a lot of playing time, but they're, they're doing what they're supposed to do and that's, that's 100% coaching and it's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Flounder. Thank you, sir, for the super chat trash ejection call. This was no Vontes perfect for sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. That's stupid. Hutchinson Hogg. Hutchinson Hogg. Thank you for being a member on the channel. If you didn't know any better, you'd have thought Green Bay played in a dome and was on the road in the elements. Yeah. I mean, that's how bad they looked. I mean, I say that, but if you look at the team, like Jordan Love had 273 yards, right? If you look at the team stats, totally yards for Green Bay 400 over 400 yards, 411 lions 261 total, they got us by about 150 passing yards. The rushing yards, they got us by about 10 yards per play. They were two holy yards of play greater than us. And we had about three minutes more time of possession. The stats don't tell the story on this game. It's pretty, it's pretty, pretty funny, pretty odd, pretty strange, pretty okay. I'm okay with it. Yeah, you know, stats like that are so cool. They're so awesome. It really, you know, the Packers just looked discombobulated, Jordan Love looked discombobulated. And it's amazing to me that the lion, you know, we had the Kirby Joseph interception, which was awesome. We didn't even need it. That was just kind of like bonus on top and it'd be almost outgained by double in yards is just a ludicrous stat to win the way we, it wasn't even necessarily in question. Yeah. You know, this, you know, when you see games with this sort of stat line, generally speaking, there's like four interceptions, three fumbles, you know, kind of like the Titans game, you know, like the Titans game, that makes sense that that happens. But no, no, it's just got out, you know, outplayed and out tuft. We got Campbell on the podium, we'll get him here in a second, I've got a pause, we'll bring him up and get everything that they've got available for us. Branch has probably ejected because of all the attention from the Elave hit earlier today. Thank you. DLR Van Halen for the super chat there. There may be, I don't know though, because nobody got ejected in this Rams game and this happened afterwards. So there's something going on, something really, really strange and inconsistent going on. And then we get Jamo back next week, no Jamo 2 and 0. What do you think will be our next loss? There'll probably be some time in the preseason next year or next loss. Okay. Okay. With that, let me, let me get Coach Campbell on with the presser here. Hiring for your small business. Now we didn't have the rain, but so those two days just watching him in the elements for what like he was, like we'll be fine. And so we trust the heck out of them, you know, and they worked out good for us. I hate it when you guys do that. You know, it's like somebody just finds something and then all of a sudden what happens when it's incomplete. And I'm like, "Oh, just that connection that goes." You just keep that to yourself. The connection between those two, it's special. Those two have been clicking now for four years. Maybe three and a half. You know, it started about halfway through that 21 season, and it's just, it's built from there. And, you know, if you're a quarterback, we got a damn good one, but it's easy to throw to a guy like St. Brown because he gets open and he's got body control balance. He can separate, he's got quickness, he's got play speed, strong hands, and his body demeanor tells you, "Man, if I'm a quarterback, you got a real good idea of what he's doing and they've done it long enough to where they can think without speaking. So, you know, they know each other's what they're getting ready to do and all that. So it's special and, you know, they make each other better. I think they have a great prize where they got inside your 35 big score at all. What was it like your defense to kind of be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to ask them that situation? Yeah, look, AG, it's one of the things we talk about, there's an emphasis to it, and certainly you've got to be able to take away the run game. And then once you get down there in tighter quarters, man, it's about helping each other out. You play a little bit of man, you've got to be able to cut and help and the next guy's got to replace, which takes away the window the quarterback may think he's getting. So, we've been pretty good about that. We've put a lot of work into that. And so we're doing a good job of limiting those points, you know, we're keeping people from getting seven back there. And look, that was one of the biggest differences in the game, man. You know, we didn't allow them to score down there because you're right. They got down there at three different times. So it's a great job by a number of guys across the board. Well, so the last one, the first time you guys have played a game in these types of championships, how do I avoid it to kind of keep winning under new circumstances? Any time you win, you learn something from it, and you get better at winning, you know? You learn. And you know, the hard thing is about winning, you learn those things, you've got to continue to learn, but you can't brush over the things that you're not doing well. Just because you've got to win, you've got to make sure that, you know, we're identifying those things we've got to get cleaned up because we'll get exposed, and there's things all over this tape. I mean, there's things that, you know, we've got to clean up in a hurry across the board, and we will. You know, we will, but I know this. I'm not shocked one bit that we came out of here and played pretty good football out in the elements. It's just that we're built for this, man. And it doesn't matter. And just because we play indoors, it doesn't matter, I mean, we can play anywhere. We can play in the snow and play in the rain, play in the mud, it's just us, and we're built to win, man. All right, we'll keep our eyes open for senior, senior golf, believe we'll be on for the next next bit on the podium. What do you think, anything strike you about Coach Campbell? I will say, I think this is one of the few times where he didn't make have to make us feel better, Andy, when we're doing a show after after a loss. He always did. He always did. He had that knack. But this time a little bit different. What do you take away from that? Yeah, you know, he's just so damn honest, you know, and it's it's so refreshing to hear a coach, not just praise his guys in a win, but you know, bring up the fact that winning requires learning still. And you know, you hear it all the time when teams are bad, you have to learn to win. You have to learn to win. We have to bring in guys that know how to win to help teach the other guys how to win. And I think it's very important, you know, when he says stuff like that, because it shows that he's making the team aware that we haven't done crap yet, we haven't won nothing. You know, we're not we're not we didn't win the Super Bowl. We haven't accomplished our goal yet. Winning is nice, but we still have to take away from this, you know, not just the good stuff, but also stuff that can be approved upon and things that we need to do different. I'm sure, you know, a meak Robertson is going to hear about, you know, his antics this week. You know, and cornerbacks need to be chippy or whatever, but you can't take it too far. You just can't, you know, and so there's like small things that, you know, don't necessarily even show up on tape, maybe that branch on the way all the time branch on the way out and his frustration. It's not it's not generally who I think of him as like that reaction he had. He was he was genuinely for now. This is the guy that sat there for it and came back to to be on the stage at the draft. He's not a guy that gets angry, right? And loses control. He just he's he, you know, he has a certain respect for the game and and how it works and what goes on and how to play the game. And when he left to take that second penalty, that says something about how big a bunch of bullshit it was in his mind, at least, but I don't think he's wrong. Right? I mean, he just doesn't he doesn't act that way. He's he's always seems to be able to keep it together and it is a class dude. And that one that one that one sizzled his ass and I think it should have. Yeah, you know, and then once again, like, did it really impact the game? No, because they missed the field goal on that on that drive. Yeah. So it didn't really hurt us. You could say it always hurts us, but no, but yeah. So learning to learning thing, you know, we got to keep our emotions in check. Obviously that's hard to do and you just got kicked out of a game and they're probably going to see a gnarly find for something that you probably didn't deem that bad yourself. But I think I think about like you think about, come on, man, hold it together. But I think about me standing in the liver living room and the shit that was flowing out of my mouth when that happened there, right? I mean, these guys all right, they have so much self control and they they get knocks for when they have little breaks like that, like a meek did, you know, fine, but I can't say that I have the self control. I mean, there's all kinds of other reasons I'm not on the field, right, but just I don't think I have the self control to make it and stay on the field without just pulling laundry all over the place. The mouth just wouldn't stop. You know what I mean? It's these guys, it's a lot. It's a lot to play with that kind of intensity, that kind of dedication. And then also that kind of freaking mental discipline, man, there's something special about these players and there's a lot of things that they don't get credit for that they bring to this game. Yes. No, I 100% agree and, you know, I think sometimes there's something good that can come out of a response like that where it can fire up the other other guys, you know, like I was just talking about it the other day with some friends of mine, you know, talking about somebody that doesn't swear very often, right, like they're mild mannered. When they bust it out, they bust out at F bomb and something, it's like, whoa, everybody pays attention. Brian Branch loses it. People are paying attention, you know, it's, you don't even see him drawing on the field that often. Like he seems very mild mannered and he busts out the stone cold Steve Austin, gives it to everybody, you know, and then you got the Joseph brothers out there after that, right? The Joe bros, Joe bros, and holy, holy, I mean, was it perfect? No. Did we stop them? Indeed, we did. Indeed. We did. Oh God. Like down a hutch. It was such a big loss. Oh my God. I just, you got to take a look at this defense top to bottom and say if not the very best defense, it has to be the deepest. It has to be. I would love just to pass through a little more pass rush. I don't think you ever see a team that is the perfect kind of team because you can't build it in a salary cap league, right? It just doesn't work. Those kind of things and those kind of teams don't get built. There's always gaps and pass wishes is a tough gap to have, but I think we're, I think we're going to be okay. When your secondary plays like this though, man, you know, it kind of, there was so many times love had three, four seconds, five seconds. Yes. It didn't matter. Yeah. You know, and that's, that's, man, somebody who said about that. All right. Let me, I'm going to cut over to Mr. Jared Goff, who's at the podium right now. Hey, honey, I'm at the store ginger needs a new bag of dog food, right? Yeah, it's blue buffalo life protection formula, but Purina one is on sale. Isn't it the same? What are the ingredients? Chicken, rice flour, corn, gluten meal, whole grain corn, chicken byproduct meal. Blue has deboned chicken, chicken meal, brown rice, oatmeal, barley, never mind. Blue buffalo, it is. Switch to blue life protection formula and feed your dog like family. Pretty much what's different, football, the enemy, the kind of elements. Yeah. Yeah, we really have that we've done it all year, and this was another example of it, I think. And those elements, your offense is going to be a little bit different, a little bit limited in some of the down the field stuff. And we knew that coming in, and I thought we handled it great, you know, having no turnovers again is pretty remarkable in that weather, and we've been doing all year and got to keep doing it. Yeah, it's really next man up, and like you said, I mean, Hutch has been as big up below as any team's had, and we haven't flinched. Those guys step up, those guys play well, they have a defense played fantastic again today. They've been really playing well the last handful of weeks, and it's been fun to be on the other side of that and to get short fields and, you know, pick six, like in that weather I was talking about, like to get a defensive touchdown is huge, and yeah, they've been playing well. Yeah, I heard that, that's pretty crazy, huh? Yeah. He's a friendly starter I've ever thrown into, and I'm lucky to play with him, and you know, I hope to play with him for quite some time, and he's a hard worker, he does everything right. And I love him. He's great. How crazy was that rope when you were going to go to that touchdown? Yeah, we've worked on that in the past, and something we thought could be good this week, and I thought at the end of the day, it was just me and him making a play. Guy covered it actually pretty well, and he's put on his back shoulder, he made a great catch, and his celebration was pretty good too. Yeah, pretty cool. It doesn't, I don't miss that, you know, I don't miss hearing that, like it's pretty cool. I heard it all, and our fans are awesome, and they came out and showed out again today, and it's a lot of fun to play for a team that has a fan base that travels, and obviously at home what they do for us, but yeah, it was really cool, yeah. Yeah, I'm sure the next time we play outdoors, they'll say this is the second time they've played outdoors, and write a big old story about that again, and yeah, we're supposed to be the dome team who can't play outside, we're supposed to be the team that can only win one way, and I think we've shown a handful of times we can win multiple ways, we're chameleons and whatever it takes to win and whatever way, that's what we're going to do, and I thought our game plan this week on offense, defense, and sports teams was outstanding, and we executed it really well. I think it's just an emotional league, like state where you're at, and it's a game that you don't need it. Yeah, each game's its own battle and its own journey, and I think, you know, we've gotten really good at flushing it away, and even if it's a loss, flushing it away quickly and turning over to the next game, and so now it'll be this, you know, winning and having to flush this one tomorrow and move on to Houston, and again, like you said, Sunday night at their play, it's gonna be rowdy, you know, our fourth road game on the last five, and you know, we've kind of proven that we're built for it. Branch and, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, they're both really good, I mean Kirby, I've been with a year longer, but Kirby's range and his ability to find the ball is pretty special, and then Branch has got to be one of the best man cover safeties in the league, and he's as sticky as they come, and great tackler, obviously has great ball skills as well. They're a great pair of safeties, and we're lucky to have them. Yeah, we did a good job, we really did up front, that was the challenge, I think, to those guys up front was, hey, they're aggressive, they're penetrators at times in the last couple years, they've had some good jobs, they've done some good jobs up front on defense, and I think our guys took that challenge, and handled them pretty well today, I thought they did, that we really, you know, were able to move them off the ball and protect me pretty well in the past game, and I was able to sit back there and make the throws, and our align is the core of our team, the building block of our team, and they allowed us to do all the things we do on offense today. Probably, yeah, I think last year at times too, and I've just grown so much mentally and physically obviously, but just get older, you just start to learn when to take the chances, when not to, and I know I've said this before, but I'm just feeling like I'm playing pretty disciplined, and trying to take care of the ball, and getting our playmakers hands, there's a couple I'd like back today, where I think I may have had Kaleef open, and I didn't get back to him, I was number two in the progression, I may have had St. Brown open on a third down, I didn't get it to him, so yeah, those will still drive me to get better, but taking care of the ball pretty well right now, I'm going to try to keep doing it. Was I? No, no, I did not, no, I almost did what, the first half, yeah, I did not know that, I should have taken a sack, it probably would have helped. Alright, there we go, ah, God, it's that, this team just gets it man, they just get it. You do, why is it so hard to get though for other teams, this is what I understand. I think, you know, other teams, these players aren't used to losing, you know, like we saw Cam Jordan lose it today, maybe not everybody saw it, but he lost it today, he like started walking out of the stadium and it was around back in, yeah, you know, and then he tweets about this is there, you know, they lost to the Carolina Panthers and it should never happen, which is true, none of that, what he said is wrong, but it doesn't help anything. No. Doesn't make anything better and, you know, being accountable for yourself in that moment is so much more valuable than what he did, even if you didn't throw anybody in particular under the bus, you know, you have to be self accountable, you know, like I should have worked harder if I had gotten a sack on this play, things would have been different, whatever, whatever, whatever. You know, I mean, Jared Goff just did it. I missed Khalif Raymond on a couple of throws, so I could have made something happen, I missed Tom Ross, Hank Brown, you know, there's, there's things to be said about players holding themselves accountable that helps other players not feel bad when they make missteps, and that's part of what, you know, makes this line team so special is that goldfish memory, which is my mistakes don't define me. It's, you know, what happens at the end of the game, that defines me. Yeah. And it allows them to, you know, come back when they don't look like things are going that well, or, you know, whatever, it's just a great team thing to have, and it is weird that other teams don't do it, but I'm sure I'm glad the lines are, you know, members of that club. Yes. Yes. All right, we'll tell you what, let's open up the calls. And call us up at 24-8-7-8-2-8-3-8-4, 24-8-7-8-2-8-3-8-4, or if you're using the Skype, you can Skype to the account. Detroit Lions Podcast, it's all one word, and let's, let's get started. Hey, caller, what's your name, where are you calling from? Hello? Caller. Hey, it's Doug Zay from the Slack. Doug Zay. How you doing? Hey, I am living the dream. Another great win. How could I not enjoy this? Fantastic, man. This is, this is, this is what Lions do. They win. It's what these Lions do, here's a, here's a fun reminder, between 1998 and 2010, we did not win a single game at Green Bay or at Minnesota, and we've won against both teams the last two years. It's even worse when you look at the Packers, right? We lost from 92 to 2014, 24 straight games at Lambo, and we've won three in a row there. These Lions are built different. Yeah, yeah, and, and that's, that's absolutely the truth, there's, there's the, the losses and losses, and this is something I think that just in the, in the kind of mindset of this season, the two most difficult teams in the division, we beat them away. We still have to see them at home, but the most difficult games against the two most difficult teams, we've won, we've won in their house. That's, that's a hell of a feather in your cap, and it's a heck of a way to set up the rest of your season. Because you, I mean, you, you generally think I'm going to split with the, the division teams, right? I'm going to lose away, win at home. If I could steal one, then I'm, I'm kind of in good shape. We already got two, you know, we already got two. Yeah, exactly, exactly, and we'll see what happens when Minnesota loses to the Colts tonight. Yeah. They're going to lose. Did they already lose it? They already lost. Am I wrong? No, no, no, no. You just were watching your crystal ball. You know, thank you. Thank you. Yeah. No, these, these things always give me crazy anxiety, but today, I don't know, it was just smooth telling. You'd love to see it. Yeah. These are, those are points. Oh, go ahead, Stephen. Oh, I was just going to say, isn't it weird looking at the better team, just handling business? You know, it's, it's, it's weird that we are the best team in the division. Yeah, I mean, we're, we're the best team in the NFL and at this point, for us to lose, we know it's going to take a letdown game. Um, and that's an incredible thing to say, you know, we got Buffalo at home. We have at San Fran. Those are probably our two toughest ones left, but even those, I think we should walk in as favorites. Um, and, uh, I mean, it's crazy to think the lines are going to go 16 and one or I'm sorry, 19 and one. Um, but it's very possible. It is looking at the schedule. It's weird, right? You know, division games are always wonky and it's hard to say that things just happen. Teams are built to beat each other or whatever, but outside of that, I, I have no major fears. This was really the last game on the schedule that I thought, and maybe be just because of the weather and who knows how that goes. These can be crazy games, but after this one, yeah, the Texans don't look good. Um, you know, the 49ers don't look good, even if we're playing them away, they just don't seem like the same team. Now they may have McCaffrey back by that point and that might change things for them, but uh, yeah, it's hard to, I don't think we're underdogs during any other game the rest of the year. We will lose a game or two against KC, um, and maybe we'd be underdogs against the ravens, but other than that, I, I don't see it. We will lose a game or two this year, and, and this is the part where some people are going to absolutely flip their, their lids, but just it, it happens very, very good teams lose to bad teams. It happens every year. It happens along the way. And that's just part of the journey. And sometimes a little shake away can bake, uh, or the shake away helps you bake. That's it. Um, then that's what they're going to need. I mean, they may need it. They may need it. I hope not. Like I'd love to see them win it out, right? But I just don't want to see the panic if they do get a loss along the way. Uh, Stephen Hawks, thank you for joining the DLP winner circle by being a member on our YouTube channel. Thank you. All right. Here's my question for you. All right. When we lose that inevitable game, if it time to fire Aaron Glenn or Ben Johnson, which one? I'll fire them all. I get rid of every fire. Nobody's worth keeping. I can get rid of the janitors. Come it in. You think that's, that's the big movie. I hear, uh, some people saying they want Dan to make another move or not Dan Brad to make another move. What do you think? I think people want Brad to make all the moves and, and I think some people would give away the next 50 years for a Super Bowl this year or, and, and it's a chance to Super Bowl, right? But I get it. But I don't, that's not how blads, but it's not how Brad's going to play. Um, everything I've got is that Smith is the guy and it's going to be tonight or tomorrow that we're going to hear that he's here, uh, could have been a week earlier. And again, that'll, it may or may not come out. Um, if it does, I'll confirm that the person got it right. But, uh, that reports it, but they, um, that's the situation. That's the situation. I think it looks like we're getting Smith and, uh, somebody else for sure. Because I really don't, and I, this is not a shot at the man, it's, it's kind of with the player. I just don't want to see, um, James Houston on the field because he's just not what he was. Yeah. Yeah. He's just not the player he was. And he's not, he's, it's like block, stop over, block, stop over. And then of course the one that he gets through, he's held like crazy and then don't call it. And it's just like, Oh, for God's sake, it's so stupid. The problem is, you know, the issue was Pascal, you know, and I, I didn't catch Leo's last last show. I don't know if he touched on it, but he, he got a marker back that wasn't very, was a very pleasant. And so that's why he's, he's been out, right? It's not like the chancellor's back sort of things, but like, Hey, let's, let's keep our eye on this. And you should, you should stay off the field until this is taken care of. So, um, that's a little scary. Yeah. Yeah. And sometimes I have to do a shake to wake and bake. It's like, no, when you wake with the shakes, you got to wake and bake. That's how that goes. Come on. Come on, Shane. Get rid of this. Wake and bake, baby. That's how we roll. And that's Doc Zay, talk about your prescription master. All right, brother. Have a good one. We're going to keep rolling. Thank you. Zach for calling in. Y'all as well. Also, Chris, we will never forgive you for our one loss because there was no post game show. We'll be at the Buffalo game too, so I'm sorry, look, I might try to, I might try to set something up from the back of a car on the way out. I don't know. We'll figure something out. We're relying on you, Chris. Don't let us down. All right, Doc. I'll talk to you, brother. All right. Y'all be well. You too. We'll see you. All right. We'll go back to it here. See who we got here. Hey, Collar. What's your name? And how you feeling about that big V? And it's Jamie from Montana. Hey, Jamie. How you doing, brother? Pretty good about yourselves, guys. Haven't talked to you in a while. Yeah, yeah. Good to have you back. This is beautiful. It's a beautiful day. It's a beautiful year, man. It's wonderful. You know, when I first found you guys, I don't know, five, six years ago, and we were going through the whole bad times, we'll just leave it at that. During my lion's gear out here, you know, you always kind of put the sweatshirt on and then you put the winter coat on and you put, you know, you just kind of hit it. But now I'm not the only one that's wearing it. My kids are coming down to the closet and they're grabbing it. No. Did we lose yet? I think we lost him. Ah, Jamie. All right. We'll catch you again. We'll catch you on the other side. See if we can get you through. Sorry. We lost you, man. It's got to keep rolling here. So we'll get the next dollar. Hey, color. What's your name? How are you feeling after the big victory in Green Bay? Whoops. We lost that one. It's another one. Okay. Hey, color. What's your name? How are you feeling? After that big victory against Green Bay? I'm still in fan fucking test again. Ooh. I love, love, love, love that. We got some vocal fry. Tommy, what was your favorite part of the game? I just joined the -- I'm a gunslinger. I think I messaged you the -- for some reason the Patreon is kind of not. Anyway, I said that Campbell, his nickname should be the Exorcist, because he is dispelling all the demons that have played this team for decades. He's just dispelling -- you know what I mean? 100%. 100%. It's amazing. It's what it is, yeah. It's like that meme where the Grim Reaper is going from door to door down the hall, right? And just laying -- Go out there in this horrible weather, no fumbles, no -- the balls bouncing around from, you know, in the -- what happened with the Packers, you know, bouncing around on the ground. None of that. It was like they're playing in Arizona today. It was. And what was even funnier is the home team who plays in the elements all the time couldn't even get a snap off, what, four, five times there was snaps that were just terrible, right? On the ground. Right. Right. It's coaching and the culture, and it's just -- it's amazing. It's a thing of beauty. I say Dan Campbell, you know, a football team is like a symphony orchestra, and he is a conductor, and they are all playing in tune, man. They are all together, and it's just, you know, I play college football, and it's a thing of beauty to watch this thing. It's a joy to watch. I've been like, I'm cracked since they -- since they panced Dallas the other week. I've been like, hi. I think all I am fans are. I'd be really interested to see what the crime statistics in the city of Detroit have plummeted. It was just in a great mood watching this thing. At least on Sundays, right? The spousal abuse, the drunk driving, and the violent crime is all dropped on Sunday. I know. Everyone's like, like, I'm fucking accessing it. Hugging. Touching it. Learn. I swear to God. And I live -- I live in the city. I live in East St. Louis Village. But anyway, you guys do a great job. You're definitely the most intelligent, funny, incisive doctor -- I love Dr. Liao. He's such a fanboy. And although he gives a great medical advice, he's always sticking to the other team. I'm telling you, anyway, I'll let other people get on the line. Hi, brother. It's fantastic. Message me again and hit me with your e-mail. Message me again and hit me with your e-mail for the Patreon thing, right? And I'll check it out. It's either tonight or tomorrow I'm going to dig in because there's like two or three proud people that I have problems with. Yeah, I've got some problems. I'm saying all my other Patreon things, like, you guys, if I can't -- you know, I'm doing on the slack. Anyway, a lot of other people go. We can work this out later. Anyway, huge win -- if they're not the most enjoyable team to watch in the NFL, tell me another team anyway, anyway, guys. All right. Thank you so much. Thank you, brother. Have a good one. All right. I loved the orchestra comparison. Yeah. It's very true. Yeah. It's very true. Everybody has to be in sync for it to work. And the lions are. But who is the first string fiddler? I'll have to get to that after this call. Hey, caller. What's your name? And are you feeling after that big win? I am very good. My name is Brian. Brian? I'm from South Florida. Oh, wow. South Florida. How far south? All the way down South Florida? Like Miami area. All that? Actually, Northport, Florida. Okay. Yep. Yep. Yep. That's nice. No. Anyway, Vegan Green Bay's ass today was such an epic victory to me. When all the experts were saying that Jared Golf could not play outdoors, we can't play in the rain. We can't play in the sleet. All that bullshit. And we went out there and we shook it down their fucking throat. Yeah. That's exactly it. I love it. That is exactly it. And I'll tell you, one of the things that I loved about this game was the first drive the lions had. They just were bullying. They were absolutely bullying the Packers. And the Packers said, let's try to bully people. We're not going to let them. And we went it forward on the fourth down and we got the points. And I saw Sam. I saw your tweet. Same spot. I don't like going for a fourth down. We score. I'm like, I kind of like going for a fourth down. That was all right. And then they wind up, they get the ball, they start driving down the field. They go for a fourth down. And I guarantee that was in response to us doing that and succeeding. They were like, we're not going to get bullied. We're not going to let these guys push us around. And they couldn't get it. And I want that. I think was one of the key kind of first nails in the coffin of the Packers that just so that doubt that maybe they are bigger bullies than we are. And then Kirby snatching that ball and going back, that was, I think that the game was, I think, effectively over at that point. I don't think they had anything less because the doubts were greater than their talent at that point. Yeah. I work with a couple of people at my job that are Green Bay Packers fans. And as soon as Kirby picked that off and took it back, I texted them right away. I said, you know what, F you guys, we are in control of this division. We are in charge outdoors indoors. Look, I've been a lion fan my entire life. I'm 43 years old. I've been a lion fan since I've been 10 years old and I've lived in Florida my entire life. Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, all them boys have been my idols. I have not jumped ships and I'm not going to jump ships. These are my team till I die. And I love it. It's something that it is really, and now like to be able to have this team, like you've been through it, right? You've been down the hard road to be able to have this team and stand around and be really, really proud that you're a lion's fan. I remember, I mean, in 2008 was my first year or my second year in California. And I was surrounded by Packers fans and Sasha's Choken Bears fans and I mean, there was no team in LA at the time. And I was like, they were the Cowboys fans and they were like laughing at me as a lion sound like, not, not. We got this. Don't worry. And to go 0 and 16 that year, it was fricking hardest year of my life as far as football goes. And I mean, it was, it was hard anyway. You move everything across the country. You don't know anybody, right? And you just, then the one thing you have to catch home is the lions and it's this. And it's just like, oh my God, from that to this, man, it's almost, I don't want to say it's worth the wait, but I'll say it feels really freaking good. If you want the good, bro, that 0116 year, I watched every single game and it was very tough and it sucked. And now I'm actually excited that we're starting to blow teams out and we blow teams out and they're starting to like talk shit about us and saying we're disrespectful. Go after yourself, man. Yeah. You guys did to us so many times. So it's like, you know what? F you stop us. I love it, man. I started listening to you guys about like two years ago and you guys are awesome, man. Appreciate you, man. So this is like the first time I've actually gotten through and my girl's recording me right now. But he's really good at you, too. Some of the video in, yeah, I'll send the video in, man, but you guys are awesome, man. I really appreciate all you do for us and, you know, fuck the Packers and go live. Awesome. Thank you, brother. We'll talk to you. Oh, man. Yeah, you too. That's freaking awesome, man. But so feel good. So feel good. All right. I'm going to take another call here. There's one I'm looking for Jack. I'm looking for you, Jack. You're not here on the stack. We'll get another one here. Hey, color. What's your name? How's the field to be the big victor in a Lambo field? It's Jonathan Texas again. How you doing, John? Hey, and my baby mama must be given lessons of sucking in the ball. Good Lord. You've missed the skull the last couple of weeks. Say, man. Bring it on. John. Bring it home. Come on. Undefeated when Kirby Joseph has an interception, the game was over before the half. Yeah. Yeah. I think the Packers were broken. They may have got like bolstered up and pushed up a little bit by the floor in the locker room. But the lines just came out and put another spike through the coffin when they returned after the half. That was fantastic. You talked about it before we came on, Chris, about day in Campbell's speech, about dragging him to the deep end and making them play us where we live. And honestly, that's what they did today. That's what they've been doing. This is a physical team. There's a reason why the Honolulu flu exists, because we beat teams up. They're just not ready to play the kind of football that we're going to force them to play. I will beat your ass. You brought up during the last call, right? When we go for it on fourth down and score in your face, it changes the tempo of the game and forces teams to do things they don't want to do against a team that lives in that space. It's special. Yeah. And I mean, Dan Campbell, he said it and it stands absolutely true to get today. As if he said it before the game, I will beat your ass and he will. It's just a statement. There's a period at the end. It's not an exclamation point. It's not a question. It's just I will beat your ass and every game we continue to go out there and bully and beat on these teams. I love I'm seeing fans and other teams start to say, Oh, you're the dirtiest team in football. You guys are so dirty. No, it's not dirty. It's tough. It's tough. It's beating people's ass. It is beating them up and it is bullying them around the field. And I love it. I will I will absorb and love you want to call us the dirtiest team in football? Great. Sack up. Get ready. Because we're taking you for a ride anytime you see this team in your in your house at our house. It doesn't matter. They're going to come out and they're going to beat your ass until you come up with an answer for it. And right now there isn't an answer out there. They can call us dirty if they want. They can everyone talk about Xavier McKinney's number one and interceptions. Who was number two and number three before this week? Who was number two and number three? Yeah. Well, your baby mom was in there, right? And Brian. Your baby mom was in there somewhere too, right? Wow. I mean, she's she's number zero, you know, see, Hall of Fame. She had to get the goldjack. That's it. I haven't got the ball. That's inception, Chris. And it's an inception. Not interception. Got it. Got it. Got it. I feel like my boss joke just slid right by there, but okay, we'll go with it. I want to wait one last point before I go. What team in the NFL can you look at and say, that's a line of loss because I can't find one? No, there's there's a couple of games that are going to be fights. Absolutely. But I just don't see it. I don't see it. This team is so well put together and so balanced. And I think, look, if Sarah Smith is is able to generate pressure, it's over for whoever we're playing. It's over. Yep. No, I in the NFC, nobody. The answer is nobody. And the AFC, maybe the Ravens, the Ravens are just a tough out for everybody, I think. Yeah. Yeah. Can't think of anybody off top of my head. Luckily, we want to feed them to a super role. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. That's right. All right. We're going to go. We're going to grab another caller. John, thank you for bringing your baby mama back this week and we'll look for her next week, too. I love y'all. I'm going to. All right. See you in a picture of that bust in the Hall of Fame, Jack, you're out of sync, brother. All right. I see you coming in and then not here. Okay. We're on the one. Oh, I lost that one. Sure. This one. Hey, caller. What's your name? What are you feeling today? Hey, thanks, Chris. Hey, guys. Good. How are you, Chris? Chris. I'm doing all right. I'm quite crazy here, but I mean, hopefully you guys are doing well, staying safe and especially for you, Chris, with Milton, everything going up over there. Hopefully you guys have been doing all right. Yeah. Got a new roof coming in the next couple of weeks and we'll be back back to Hummin' again. So. Oh, I love it. But yeah, just wanted to say, like, I mean, I hope people are checking on people out there in Hawaii, too, man, because I mean, I don't know if this is a tsunami or what, but this high-lulu-blue wave that we've got rolling, I mean, that's coming out from people out over there. It's, uh, it's fantastic. I, like, I mean, you've been here, Chris, for the, for the tough times in those, the years and I mean, salmon has, has the ultimate quote of being touched in the fandom. I think there's never been another phrase that has summed up the reality of, um, what the Patricia years were. But from there to here, holy cow, what, what an absolute 180. And the one thing that I love about this team, too, is I've been very, very fortunate with my position that I've been in over the last couple of years to get to meet some people that I never would have my otherwise. And the people that are behind all this stuff, like, this, I mean, I'm just, I'm not going to say any names, but there are some lines, coaches and stuff that have gotten to know in your families and people like that through my coaching experience. And like, they are just incredible people who do so much for our kids, our community, our area, and like, they give so much back to everybody in, like, you can tell these people are genuine, they are respectful, they're honest, they're, they, those people who are, who are a part of the lines organization right now, these are everything that they are getting. What this, what these wins this team. Yep. Yeah. I don't disagree. Class from top to the bottom of this organization, it's, it's, it's how they're built and it's it's none of it. Like, I mean, we talk about how authentic Campbell is. None of what we're seeing out there is an authentic from, from any of these, these people. It's, it's really, it's really great to see that they are that the character that they, uh, they put out there that they're looking for. I mean, it's, it's not just like the honest field either. I mean, it's, it's the time that these people take, like, I mean, for example, with us, right? Like, I, I, I, for those of you guys who don't know, I'm high school football coach. Not far from the Lions facility area. So we get, like, to see some of these, like, Lions coaches and having a couple of college coaches with kids and things like that too. And it's like these people are like the, the real authentic people behind them. Like everyone sees what they are, like, with what they're working with with players, what how they're like with, with like the media, everything like that. You know, it's like these people are actual, like genuine, real people that are like, these are people that I like, I'm glad that they are here and start with Sheila and it goes all the way down Brad, Dan, what the assistant coaches, the scouts, everybody, like it's just incredible to see the community and everything that this organization has built. Um, just from top to bottom, it's, it's, it's people truly deserve it and you can see from all the hard work that they put in, all that they do, to take care of people, to take care of each other, to their golf and other guide, like, in terms of players, like that, to do so much for this community, for this area, that people don't really understand just incredible and incredible. And that's what makes me so happy about this. It's not, I mean, obviously I'd love to see the Lions do great, but it makes it so much better when you see people who deserve things like that, you got to experience that too. Yeah, 100%. All right, Chris, we're going to bounce. Thank you. I think you bring up a great point though, that kind of quality and character is, is what the team's built on and what they're all about. And it's, it's true for the entirety of their families and, and it's, it's not just a face they put on. And that's, I think part of what makes it so great. All right, brother, we will talk to you. Exactly. Have a good one, man. Thank you. Thanks. All right. All right, Chris, he's been around since the, the start of the time. Early days. All right. Jack, I think we got you. Yeah. Jack. Yes, I'm king. How you doing brother? How's life in Lambo? Chris, are you right? Yeah. Yeah. All right. Live on the grounds and on the way home, drunk as shit. Here we go, baby. How was everybody else doing? I need to hear that before I before I saw. So good. So good. They were down because you were so long and trying to get on the call, Jack. What they were wondering, what's happening is, is how are the Packers fans taking this? Are they eating the turd sandwiches that they've been prescribed? Can I, can I cut in Chris so many times where they're like, I would dance and be like, Hey, you ever won these Super Bowls and they pushed me off, literally physically pushed me off. And then they'd be like, Oh, well, boy, you didn't do this to you. Do that. They are sore, baby. It was a demolish. Do you want to talk to them? You want me? I'm growing that. Okay. Sure. I have a wife, just gone now, but it's like, God damn it, I mean, we should be fucking proud. I was in the bathroom with a minute left in the first half. I walked out and everybody was like, Oh, you guys won. I was like, Holy shit. No, we didn't. And they were like, Oh, no, you guys had a big thing. I couldn't believe it. It was unbelievable. Jack, we're going to stuff you in the bathroom for the rest of the game. Anytime we're on a defense, had a pick six while you had a pick number two. If I have one thing to say, if I have a lifeline, one of those lines that they talk about, it's going to be a stand is what it feels like to be great. This is it. That's right. And for the stage where you're on a bus, a packer stand, and they're like, oh, shock. And for us, it's like, Holy shit, we fucking are going to win the division. That's through some of the ground. I'll answer any questions you have. I'm trying to pull myself out there here. There you go. How many Jared Gough chance did you start? Jared Gough chance were unbelievable. I mean, it's one of those things where it's like, man, this is the hard part. There was never any Matthew Stafford said there was Jared Gough and man, you're up to three of the goddamn Green Bay Packers and their fucking house. And my best friend sitting here next to me, he speaks, he's very, I don't know if you hear me anymore. I can hear you. Yeah. I don't know what's going on anymore, but why? I want to find out about this happening in our lives, and we secure every goddamn back in that. Absolutely right. I can't. I can't believe it. All the way up at the Green Bay, we were, we wanted half time. It was over. It was over. It was over. Jack. I got to ask you, are you like, are you like Brad Pitt tier, like, how did, tell me about this, this random Packers fan girl that you picked up along the way? How did this happen? I can't hear you very well. Are you saying, am I good? How did you pick up? Fucking good. I can, I can fight a fucking goal right now. We just need the Green Bay Packers in the lab though. Hold on. Do you want to hear my best friend? Yeah. Hello. Hello. I love you. I love you. I love you guys. I love you guys. I know. I know. I love you too. I love you guys. I love you guys. I love you guys. I know. I know. I love you too. God damn it. You guys are the best. Appreciate you, Jack. Thank you for staying with it and call it in, brother. Fucking global. I am. Let's go. Let's fucking go all the way. What a time to not ask how many have you had, Chris? No. So in the chat, they're saying not sure Jack left any alcohol in Green Bay update. Milwaukee is now dry. I don't know what Jack's last name is, but it might be dangerous. Really good. How many of you had, Jack? How many drinks have you had? How many have I had? I mean, it's got to be over 25. I mean, I've been drinking since nine in the morning. I mean, are we, are we here? Listen, this is what I would say, Chris. Are we here? Are we here to just tickle the balls? Are we here to fucking win? That's what I would ask everybody who's working. We are here to win. It is not. It is not a game. We're here to win. Let's go. Jack, we need you at the Super Bowl party, brother. We need you there. So let's stay connected because this is freaking awesome. All right. I'm here. Everybody on this package. But so sad. It is. That's fine. I can't even imagine. I should just ask them. They're going to be short. That's good. Hey, how about I go? No, no, no, no, they're all very, very sad, but you know, we're so great about how good we are. It's a came with a great halftime. I was literally congratulating people at halftime for showing up. It was a game. And I was losing to graduated, happy to see you. I was actually to have my faith function by halftime. I need you to do one thing. I need you to do one thing before we let you go. I want you to start a Jared Goff chant on that bus. Can you go? Can you do that? Can I do it? You want to hear it? Yeah, let's get going. Everybody. Let's go. Get them going. What kind of bus is this? We need to know what kind of bus this is. Is this a tour bus or is this a public transport bus? Well, I think I think the best couple of it you could have hatred and my best buddy who invited me to the city and said I hate the lions. Man, I want everybody to hate the lions. All right, Jack, we want to let you go. Take care of yourself. Don't get yourself hurt over there, because we don't want it next week, so we know you're alive, please. Yeah. Yeah. Call in and give us a proof of life next week. Okay. All right. Next week. All right, brother. All right. Move to the ground, baby. Move to the ground. That's right. Love it. Thank you. We'll talk to you, Jack. Thank you brother, Jack, Jack, Jack, got to get Jack, his own, his own chant going. Oh my God. That was fantastic. I can't. He was talking to that girl. She was interested. She wanted to talk to us, unless she found out he was married, she had to bounce. She had to bounce. I met this girl and I'm married and now she's gone. I lived a whole lifetime in three seconds, all my time in two sentences. Hey, caller, what's your name? Go ahead. Damn it. Sorry. No, no, no. Go for it. Hey, caller. What's your name? How much have you had to drink? Hey, man, this is Alex. I have had so many fucking drink. Hold on. Let's just count that. Seven or eight deep about four margaritas, three little bapolutas in. Nice. I was, I was putting away some, well, they're, they're from Frankie's Tiki bar in Las Vegas. It was, it's a drink called the bearded clam. That's absolutely fantastic. I put about three of those down during the game. But anyway, yeah, have you been, have you been to the flowing tide club in Vegas? No. Oh my gosh. What is the lions bar you have to go to if you're in Vegas? Oh man. Okay. I'm right down. What do you do? What do you do? It's where I was. I had a bet for them to win in the NFC Championship last year. I take my fantasy winning money and at least sort of got me one of two tickets because God fuck Vegas expensive. Yeah. It's bananas. No, but what do you got for us brother? We got a big win today. We're feeling juicy. We're feeling a little bit wet, a little bit happy. How about you? Oh dude, I'm about to take that wetness and put it on the face, neck and chest of cleat Blakeman. You were a bitch. Oh my God. I'm sure you guys have talked about it. They can take away our best safety. We still beat their fucking ass in Lambo. Oh God. I hope Matt LaFlore realized he's got to stop looking at the mirror and look in the fucking playbook. That was such a bad decision to bring in love. I'm surprised you to turn that spring into a tear. What? What do you think? This is what happens when you have backwoods fucking like packer fans be your owners like even the bears are like that's shitty ownership. Wow. It was such a bad decision making in their own house and your quarterback who's supposed to be the frozen tundra. Oh, he can handle all the weather in his house. Couldn't throw a fucking ball. His center couldn't even tie him a fucking ball. What an embarrassment and it feels so good. So good to watch. The fudge packers fall the fuck apart. Yeah. All that was so satisfying. Yeah. I was shocked when Malik Willis didn't come in in the second half. That was too. It just seemed like the right move because love wasn't passing the ball particularly well and he was clearly not, you know, 100% and you know, you put Malik Willis out there running. Yes. It's different. That's for sure. That's a bad choice. I think to be to be kind of 100% straight, I think Jared Love is actually a little bit nervous of Malik after he got the two wins and I think he wouldn't let go with the ball. And that's why he was out there. I generally think that he would they would if the floor would have pulled Malik out. It would have pulled love out. I think it would have he knew it would have caused a significant problem and in the controversy would have been unleashed. I really, really believe that Jordan Love is the reason that not only if they lost but that they didn't have a chance to win. It's, I mean, I can't, but of what argument did he make today that he's still the wrong decision? I mean, my goodness. I just can't believe that he fought the thing. I know he's trying to keep his spot, but like, hey, I mean, I can't believe that Malafour let him play. That was such a bad idea. Like, you need to be the adult in the room. You've got a 25 year old kid who does not know better, who does not think about the future like the fact that the ownership or the coaching team didn't step in. Like, I know he's scared. Wow. Just like it makes me so grateful for the coaching staff we have because they never would have done that to Jared God. They would have let that man rise. Well, in Lefler, let's be honest, he's been pushed around now by two quarterbacks, right? Yep. Yeah. Oh, did I say Jared love that I did those words that came out of my mouth? I did. I'm sorry. I did not need to spare shares. We love Jared, baby. You're all good, man. That's a beautiful Freudian flip. You have to be loved. Jared. Oh, but he's a film quarterback. You can't throw up all in the rain. I mean, oh my goodness. What do you do? 11 to 11? You're like the first half? Come on. Oh, man. Fantastic. It's a great time to be a Detroit Lions fan. Whoo hoo. And honestly, like you guys have been talking about this on the podcast and Sam and I cannot would see your slow lights in the rain, my man, but like how nice is it to watch a quarterback throw after throw completion, march down the field? Like you have talked about like we've always watched other teams later on Sunday. You're like, why can't our team like that? We have that now nonstop completion runs after, you know, more than just, you know, five yards or more making it manageable in the second next few downs like, oh, it feels so fucking good. Yeah. I mean, Tom Brady talked about it. Oh, sorry, Chris. Tom Brady talked about it during the broadcast that, you know, one of the major things that Jared Goff has going for him is that he's smart. He anticipates, you know, and that that's kind of a dying breed in the NFL right now is that he's making the right choice. He's finding the right guy to move the chains. He's not, you know, forcing things. He's not taking things that aren't necessarily there and taking risks. And when Jared Goff plays like this, I don't want to say we're unbeatable, but almost like you don't know what's going to happen other than that the lines are going to march on you and you have to act accordingly. The other thing that he brought up and I think, I think this is really, really smart. The development of quarterbacks in the college ranks isn't happening at all, like it used to. The players are just going jumping through the portal and playing for teams and they aren't getting developed over time, so they're coming in to the league a lot more raw. And the league is expecting young quarterbacks to perform right off the get nowadays. And so if you look at the young quarterbacks, they're like Anthony Richardson and like so many of these guys out there, they just aren't ready. They just haven't had the development and they hit the NFL. And there's like, I saw a great tweet and I wish I had a saved it. Once you're like six or seven, 24 year old and younger quarterbacks that just are, I don't want to say busts, but just haven't panned out that we're all high picks. And it's just quarterbacks these days just are not coming out NFL ready. And the teams aren't able to develop them appropriately, which is it's going to be interesting to see what happens with Hendon Hooker over time or somebody else, the Lions pick up because we're going to wind up with some of that very, very, you know, unmolded clay as well in our hands. And what can the staff do with those kind of players to help them be the kind of quality quarterback that a Jared Goff is when eventually Jared Goff decides to hang up those cleats. Yeah. I love that. Where that's what we're thinking about is just like what's after Jared Gopkins we're doing. So I mean, I'm going to get off the phone because I want to let you guys let the next person off my goodness. What a grit. What grit. We lose Brian Branch. We're down in Hutchinson. We're not making sacks and he had so much time, but we're still finding ways to win. And it's the only other team I'm seeing do that. It's not pretty, but they're winning is the fucking Chiefs. We are finding ways to win. It may not be pretty every time we were finding different strategies to win. And that's that winning idea that's that's that speech and hard knocks. We've been knocked down so many times that we keep coming up and taking a hunk off or we're taking you into the deep and shoving you down there. That is the mentality that is instilled in this team and is what you've warned us about. It's not selling our future for some defense over your past Russia who's not going to fit that mentality. I love that we're waiting and choosing the mentality that's going to fit this team because clearly it's not next man up. It's the next men up. What men need to step up to fix that one man gap. And they're finding ways every time. Love this podcast. Love you guys. Sandman the slow lights. Oh, I'm going to my my keys are going to stick together this next week. So I appreciate you so much. I will see you guys all next week. And thank you for having another podcast because the great street you're having. I keep happening. We have to win. So I appreciate you all. I have a great evening. I'll talk to you all later. You too. Thank you brother. And that's one thing we got to talk about is the YouTube channel Sandman 7 7 7 7 3. If you haven't seen slow lights, you haven't seen football. There is nothing better than watching Sandman slow light to these games. You're going to see so many things you haven't noticed in the game at full speed before that it's you're going to be astounded. Definitely check out Sandman slow lights. It's one of the the best things that any kind of creators putting out there right now. So fantastic. Thanks girls. Yeah, for sure. Wow. Hey caller. What's your name and how great is Sandman slow lights? Do you agree? I agree. I watch it every week. I share it on Twitter. I share it all the time. Slow lights are the best. But what I want to talk about is like remember back a couple of years ago when we were watching hard knocks and this team was horrible and Campbell gave his speech about the deep end and the deep water and all that. It's all come true. Like my god, this team is incredible. We drag teams out to the deep water and we fucking drown them. Yep. We attach these nuts and let them sink to the bottom, right? That's right. Literally, nobody wants to play us. Who wants to play the line? Exactly. Regardless of how good we are, you know, like we're good right now. But even when we weren't good, you didn't want to play us because you were going to get beat up. Even if you come out with the win, half your team has been off the field and we're incredibly tough out. And now that we're winning, that's scary. Yeah. Yeah. Because it's not just you come in and you get beat up and I knew I was in a fight, but at least I won. Now you're beat up. Andy lost it. Honolulu flu is for real. You walk out and like a lot of fans, like low IQ fans are dirty team find calls dirty team. I don't care. They're just beating the hell out of the other team. They are bullies and they are bullies in a physical game. And if you can't take it, your team's built wrong, sorry, or build your team so that you won't get bullied. That's your choices. It's fantastic. It's fantastic to watch a team that just dominates the other team in this way. This is this is real freaking nice. This is alpha energy man. I don't know what else to say. It's just like the Dan Campbell in a wheelchair with his balls in a wheelbarrow meme is absolutely the reality of what this team is. Yeah. The other teams. The 100% like the blue flu is real. There's a reason why teams haven't beaten us after the week after they play us is because they're beat the fuck up. That's face it. I mean, they don't want to play us. Teams don't want to play us. We're going to drag them down into the fucking deep end. Absolutely. I agree. 100%. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And you know, if you remember, I mean, it was true in the Patricia era, and I know you remember this one. Same. And it was true in the the Jim Caldwell era, we would have these big victories in these big wins, but beating teams that were over 500 was always just an unattainable goal. Our division victories so far are against a total of two teams that were 11 and two when added up. That's pretty fair. And there are way wins. Those are real victories. Those are real victories by a tough ass team. I just so impressed with what they've put together. You know, and then you can look at like the Miami Dolphins, they're built to offensive heavy the same way that we kind of are and but they just do it differently and you can see what happens to them. You know, they struggle against teams that are tough that can push back on them and, you know, they are what we used to be. Yeah. You know, the Miami Dolphins are the 2011 Lions, like, yeah, they throw out points and whatever but as soon as adversity hits, it's over. Do the sound again. Can't wait for that to be a, I won't do that. A new button. It won't be. I just wanted to hear it again. It was good. You know, I learned that noise from my, my cat on the end of the bed at 3 a.m. You just got to start kicking your feet and get the cat off the mattress. Head to the tile. Head to the tile. No soft surface, please. What the hell is that noise? Anyway, that's the Miami Dolphins when they play a 5 and 0 or better team throw up on the end of the bed at 3 a.m. All right. Hey, color. We're going to let you go. We're going to do one more call and then call it a show. Okay, brother. I make one more suggestion. Sure. Hand man. This week on the soul lights, I want you to place it more. Stick to the heavy metal theme, but make it rush goes on from Canada. I want to hear rush on the flow lights. All right. I'll see if I can fit some Tom Sawyer or something in there. All right. All right. I call. All right. We'll talk to you. I'm just going to random select here. See what we get. Hey, what's your name and how are you feeling after this big victory in Lambo field? Chris, what's going on, brother? How are you doing? We're doing real good. Got got me and my wife here, my Dominique Sonora sitting on the couch feeling real nice among my 10th Miller highlights. Nice. I'm doing this nice big lines when what was your favorite part of the game? What was the thing that you were used to you sat there and said, yep, this is this is the lines that I love. I think I got two things. My wife sitting here next to me, she's a huge Montgomery fan, and I just feel like every time he got the ball, he just grounded and pounded them. It was like two, three, four hits. We still run in, still pushing for more yards like the Monty that we love. One other thing I actually want to say about that now that I'm going on the tangent is don't you love that they said the whole time, all the lions, it's their first outside game. Oh, the weather. Oh, no one's talking about this yet. Where the team catching the ball, where the team with a clean game, the Packers in their home arena, wet field, can't drop in balls, drop in snaps. I don't get a backup center in, but can you talk about that for a sec about how we just came in with a clean game and these guys on their home stadium couldn't clean it up for all four quarters. I'm going to touch a Monty first, but OK, go ahead and say, man, you grab that and I'm going to talk about Monty afterwards. OK, yeah, yeah, yeah. This whole game I was thinking about, I don't even remember what year was 2013, maybe when Jim Schwartz talked about being a mutter, when we had the snow game and McCoy was a mutter and he really came through. The whole time I was reading everything about other people thinking that we're a dome team and we're not going to go, it's like we have one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL. I don't know why anybody would think that that wouldn't translate to an outdoor crap weather game, that we have the guys that are mutters, that Montgomery is going to come in and he doles out punishment. He doesn't take punishment from linebackers or anybody. He doles it out. There's a reason why he's so good at breaking tackles. I think part of the reason of that is that people don't want to tackle him full on. They don't want to hit him dead straight, because they're going to take the brunt of it. And those people were nuts. People that thought that we couldn't play in the weather, we don't need to pass the ball to win. This is now what the second game that we've won this year where Jared Goff has passed less than 150 yards, that's insanity. They were both decisive victories. They weren't like close ones, that's the way we're built. I love your mutter. I love your mutter comment, but I'm going to say something that may say sound converse to it, but this is what makes Monty so special, beyond just his ability to do that, grind through the thick, crappy fields. There was a couple where he had just little skips to the right, the two runs I remember in my head right now. Skips to the right, where he just stopped, hopped over and moved and went to the hole and hit it. He's got some elusiveness that he's not just a bowling ball down through the pins, right? He can find his hole and pop over and slide through and go. He's like, he's not very like cut kind of guy, but he can absolutely cut and hop to the side and find that hole and make people miss. It's a fantastic skill that he has. It's a very unique skill set to be able to just blast people the way he does, to be able to cut through the field the way he does, but also to move. He's got some side to side movement that you just wouldn't expect out of a guy like that. Chris, can I say something quick? Sure. I could not agree more and I just want to throw it back to when we brought him in and we kind of know this is old ties now, but I remember when we lost Jamal Williams and it was kind of like he was our ground in pound guy and it was almost like, man, he had a little bit of heart and soul for this team and he got picked up the tough yards and I always loved Matthew when you were in Chicago. But man, talk about how exactly what you said is like, A, I would say more ground and pound than Jamal Williams, but B, the shiftingness and the cutting to be able to take it next level is just amazing. I mean, as a lion fan, I just can, I mean, speaking to Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell and what these guys have done. I just, I'm so ecstatic and I just love watching this team and feeling confident, talking to some of my friends who are still got a little bit of SOL in them and just feeling confident going into every game. I mean, how great of a feeling is that guys? Fantastic. It's the best it is a good, I got one of the things I want to ask you guys quick and I'm going to hop off. Well, first off, first off, this is the third one other thing brother. I know I got a hundred of those Jack Casey is like one of my best friends boots on the ground in Green Bay to the end of calling you guys or no, I haven't talked to him. He did. Oh, did he call us? Oh, did he call us? All right. Or what? He freaked on me. Well, we're not sure how he's doing because he was on a bus doing Jared golf chance, the bus full of Packers fans. So we need him to call in the next week so we know he's okay. We will get a help check on him, but he's going to be a okay. Even though he's with Packers fans, he's with good people. I stood up at a wedding in his wedding with a lot of those guys. But I do want to know what did you guys, I don't know if you guys touched on this guy didn't tune in at all. What did you guys think of the Brian branch, the ejection I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a rate about it because it's just, look, there should have been like four objections this week for that play if there's going to be an ejection and there wasn't, right? And this is what I've always said about officiating. As long as it's consistent, I'm fine, whatever if it's consistent or that's what it is. It should have been a flag. It was, it was, it was a, it was a foul. It was not a legal hit or whole thing. I'm, I'm down with that. But the ejection was so out of bounds and so not lined up with everything else that we saw even this week in the games and the fact, you know, people are giving Blakeman a hard time over. I don't think Blakeman actually had a bad game. I'd actually give him credit for calling a pretty good game this time. That call came from New York. That call came from New York and for New York to come in and single out, it just makes it look so bad and stinky and dirty and slimy and fuck the NFL. It's, it's just that the lack of training and then it's always now post facto. They've got time to put their, their script together and come up with a reasoning why, but it's just not consistent with anything else that's happened on the field, even just this week. Within six hours of that hit, there's three other opportunities. Why did he on the field get ejected for that game? That's bullshit. That's targeting by the NFL. It's the only other, it's the only thing that I can, I can come up with because there's nothing to suggest that that ejection should have been made. Am I, and, and Andy, you can, you can give, you know, a balance on that because I, I mean, no, I think you nailed it. I honestly, that my biggest concern is that New York is now sticking their nose in places that maybe it shouldn't be. We've wanted New York for so long, just get it right. That's all we've wanted, that's all we needed. And then, but this seems out of step. It doesn't seem like this is what New York is for. The referees were there, the referee saw it, they called the flag. If they thought it was an ejectable thing, they, they have to call it, not some random dude that we don't know who they are or whatever, what they do in New York, affecting a game. You know, that's, that's, that's just wild to me that, that's allowable, that, that's even a thing that New York can do and why are we just now finding out about it? Like that they can decide who's ejected and who's not. It is like, I mean, yeah, I don't know, like, like, Chris, you were just saying that targeting. I mean, yeah, in the college level, but I didn't, I was not aware that that was the thing they do. And yes, we love New York kind of stepping in, cleaning up some of the quick stuff, but why are they just ejecting guys from games? And of course, I'm a homer, but anyway, guys, I don't want to, I don't want to hold up any of the other callers. We're having a great time over here. I'm going to crack one more highlights as a, as a nightcap, but love listening to all you guys and just want to call in and celebrate this win. One more thing brother. What's up? I'm just, I'm just giving you a call. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Now I see what you're doing. You're buying my wife's glasses and everyone's glasses now. Hey, I got one more thing for you guys. Fuck the packers. 100% brother. 100%. Left TP. We'll touch you later, man. I'll be able to afford looking at it. All right, man. Yeah. We'll see you. Ciao. Later. All right. Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers: Post Game Show Recap
In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, we dive into everything from the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers game in our game 8 post game show. This matchup was crucial as the Lions looked to maintain their lead in the division and keep their momentum going strong in the NFL season. Whether Detroit managed to hold off the Packers or had to battle through adversity, we cover all the major talking points and invite you to share your reactions as well. Listener calls are a huge part of the show, so join us to break down the game together!
Lions Defense vs. Jordan Love: The Blitz Game Plan
A key discussion in this episode revolves around the Lions’ defensive strategy against Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love. The Packers’ offense has been inconsistent this season, and Love’s performance under pressure has been a major factor. Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has been dialing up aggressive blitz packages, and we analyze how that approach fared in this game. Did the Lions successfully keep Love uncomfortable, or did he find ways to exploit the defense when they sent extra rushers?
Our breakdown also covers how the Lions’ secondary responded to Love’s big-play potential. With players like Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph leading the back end, Detroit’s defense was poised to capitalize on Love’s struggles against the blitz. We discuss whether the unit created enough turnovers or if Love managed to connect with his receivers for game-changing plays. We’ll hear from fans about what they thought of the defensive performance and how the Lions can continue to improve.
Offensive Execution: Jared Goff and Play Action Success
On the offensive side, Jared Goff has been one of the league’s best quarterbacks against the blitz, and the Lions’ game plan likely included plenty of play action to keep the Packers’ defense guessing. We discuss how well the offense executed this strategy, whether Goff’s connection with key targets like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta flourished, and how the running game set up those opportunities.
The Lions’ offensive line has been crucial in protecting Goff and establishing a dominant run game. We analyze how they matched up against the Packers’ defensive front, especially with Kevin Zeitler’s return to the lineup. Did Detroit’s offensive line create running lanes and give Goff the time he needed, or did Green Bay’s defense find ways to apply pressure? Listeners can call in to share their thoughts on the offensive performance and what adjustments they’d like to see moving forward.
