Raise your hand if you feel really represented in our Colorado state legislature. Yeah, that's what I thought. Hey, it's Ross, and I have no confidence that the people under the Golden Dome are routinely doing what's best for me and you, for our families and neighbors and friends and colleagues, because our system for choosing and electing candidates isn't functioning to benefit us, it's functioning to benefit the system. But there's something we can do about it, and it's called Proposition 131. Prop 131 will let all voters choose among all candidates, regardless of party, for the state legislature, Congress, and most statewide races, except president, with the top four going on to the general election. It gives us more options as voters, and importantly, it keeps party bosses from sticking us with bad options. And as someone who wants to have true choices, I have to say that I'm even more confident in my support for Prop 131, knowing that the party bosses on both sides don't like it. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Hello everyone, and welcome into another edition of the GSMC College Football Podcast, brought to you by the GSMC Sports Network. I'm your host, as always, Tommy Bruzy. It is Wednesday, October 30th around here, and we have a great show for you today. We have got to start jumping into week 10, because there's quite a few games that I want to pick for you guys, and we'll start with that pit SMU game, a huge game out there in the ACC. Definitely want to get you guys a pick for that one, because got some huge CFP implications there. Then we'll get into a couple of SEC breakdowns, Georgia, Florida, this upcoming weekend, the largest outdoor cocktail party, as well as A&M heading over to Columbia, South Carolina, for a very interesting match up against the game Cox. Then we'll get over to the CFP. We'll talk about where everyone sits, kind of break them down into tears. Feel like we have about 20 Power 4 teams, or 21, I guess, including Notre Dame. That absolutely have a shot to make a run to the playoffs, so we'll break those down for you guys today. Then we'll get into a couple of upset alerts around week 10, before we get into a couple of questions that I have as we head into week 10, including the under the radar game of the week, because there's quite a few that are under the radar that you should definitely be on the lookout for. But before we jump in, I do want to remind you all, we get tons of questions and comments throughout the show, and the best way for you all to get your question on the screen, we have a fun back and forth here. So use that super chat at the bottom of the chat on the sports network page. You can click the dollar sign at any question, comment you like, and we can have fun back and forth here. Definitely want this to be interactive, about to head into a really, really busy month around the sport of college football. So definitely want you guys to be able to say as much as you want on the show. So definitely utilize that. Also, gsmcpodcast.net is up and working does the exact same thing. So either one of those you'd like to use, please do. And we can have fun back and forth here. But let's jump into this one because it's a huge game out there in the ACC. It's one of those games that you very badly need to win. If either of these teams wants to go to the CFP, if they want to go to the ACC title, this is a must win, no doubt about it. Because I think we're finding more and more as we get closer and closer to the season or the end of the season, at least there's going to be a lot of SEC teams there. There's going to be a number of big 10 teams there as long as Indiana doesn't explode or anything crazy doesn't happen out there. So we have to figure out a way for a lot of these teams to get to 11 and one to possibly 12 and one if they're going to find their way into the playoffs. So pin SMU are firmly in that boat. They have to find a way to get to at least 11 and one. If they're going to want a place to be at the end of the season, at least in the CFP. And they both have pretty tough games ahead of them after this game. So let's get into this one. I think this one's a huge one four pit in a number of different ways because you're coming off a game where you played incredibly good football. You were all over Syracuse really from the jump of that game. The defense played incredibly well, got five picks, three pick sixes. That's not going to happen on Saturday. You have to assume that it's going to take a little bit of a step back in terms of the luck factor because one pick literally fell into a pit player's arms when he was laying on the ground. So you have to assume that's not going to happen on the other side. SMU gave the ball away six times last week. You probably have to assume that's not going to happen either. You have to assume it's going to meet somewhere in the middle. These two teams are going to find each other at some point in. It's kind of funny. It's going to be a fun kind of battle of styles here. You have a pit who throws the ball about 55% of the time. You have SMU who runs the ball about 58% of the time. Now, both these defenses are well equipped to stopping the run. They're both top 10 in the run defense. They're both below a hundredth in the country and past defense. So it sounds like the past is going to be the way that you're going to want to go about business here, but the big question for SMU is in the past game. You know, you don't have RJ Maryland anymore. He is out for the year. The question is who is going to step up into that void? Robert or Roger Daniels, excuse me, made a couple of huge plays last week, but didn't necessarily have consistency. He only had two catches. They just happened to be for about 80 yards and about 70 yards. So obviously a huge playmaker, but at the end of the day, who's going to step into that down by down type receiver that you very much need. If you're SMU for pit, they got after Kyle McCourt. They had 26 pressures last week. If they can do that against Kevin Jennings, which I think will be a little bit tougher, but they should be able to do it. The question is, can you get him on the ground? Cause he is going to be a nightmare. If you let him out of the pocket, even when you get pressure, he can make you hurt with his legs and you have to make sure that you're in the right position to make all of that go away, essentially, which is a big time task. And if pit can't get him on the ground, if they only get pressure, but don't get sex, it's going to be a really long game for him. And then on the other side, the pit pass game against the SMU back end is going to be huge to watch because the reality is pits going to pass the ball. They don't necessarily, they have a run game. I don't want to take anything away from Desmond Reed and all the guys they have. But at the end of the day, SMU has been very good at stopping the run. Pit's going to have to throw the ball to win this game. Now you're throwing into a back end that has 12 picks on the year. They're not necessarily great about not giving up yards, but they absolutely can take the ball away. So you're going to have to be careful about not necessarily giving up the ball. And Kevin Jennings and Eli Holstein are going to have to play just really good football. You know, can Kevin Jennings just take over this game with his legs? Could Eli Holstein just step up to the plate and play an incredible game passing the football? It'll be really, really interesting to watch. But for SMU, the chances of the ACC title and CFP birth are essentially gone. If you lose this game, no doubt about that. After this, they have Boston College, Virginia and Cal. They should be able to handle those games afterwards. So you should be able to go 11 and one if you're able to win this one. And then if you go 11 and one, the chips will follow what they may. There's absolutely an ability for you to get in. If you don't get into the ACC title, I think it's a little bit more sketchy, but at the end of the day, it's still very much in good position for pit. If you lose, you are staring down a game at Clemson with already a loss on your schedule. You are very likely, I don't want to say very likely, but you will not be favored in that game. Losing that game would totally knock you out of everything. And frankly, losing this one might just do that because you would be behind SMU. You'd be behind Miami and Clemson who are undefeated in conference. You could beat Clemson and still get into the dance. But at the end of the day, you beat Clemson. SMU runs the table the rest of the way as does Miami. Those are the two teams. That would go to the ACC title and you'd have to figure out where you stand after that. So it's going to be a nightmare to figure out, no doubt about it. But for pit, if they get a win here, they have some wiggle room. Even with Clemson coming up, they could possibly lose that game and continue on their way and have a very, very successful season. So this is going to be really interesting to watch. It's going to be one of those things that we have to watch really throughout this entire game, figure out where they stand in the ACC. And if they move forward with a win here, I think both these teams are very much in play for you, see it p-birth. But let's talk about players to watch and I'll start with Kanata Mumfield. He is a very talented player for a pit on the outside, leading receiver, an absolute matchup nightmare. And frankly, I think pit is going to need that a number of times in this game, because I think SMU is going to be more than content of letting their linebackers handle the run game and then saying our back end just needs to be the back end. You know, play five guys back there, make sure they can't get that big play. The problem is whenever you go into man coverage, Kanata Mumfield is going to be a problem. He's going to be able to start making plays on the outside and pit might not need a ton of big time plays in this game if they're able to stop the run on the other side. And the other side, you're going to have to have Kyle Lewis to stop that run. A big, a big talented linebacker, 60 tackles on the years, three INTs, four sacks. He's all over the field. He is going to be making a ton of big time plays for this pit defense throughout this game. No doubt about that. But he's going to have his hands full. There's a lot of really good running backs. There's a quarterback that can pull the ball and go for about six year olds for a touchdown. You're going to have to be on your on your P's and Q's and make sure that everyone else around you is on their P's and Q's because there's going to be a if you make mistakes or if you over commit in the run game, they can make you hurt in a hurry. That is for sure. Jake Bailey on the other side is someone I'm watching only had two catches and 15 yards against Duke. He's got to be more important for this offense to be able to run without RJ Maryland. They need guys to step up in that wide receiver room. And we've talked about it on here before, but you're probably not going to outright replace him. You're probably not going to outright be able to say we're going to put this guy in for RJ Maryland. He is going to replace all of the things he did. What you can do is kind of recreate him as the money ball saying goes. But in the end of the day, I do think Jake Bailey has to be a big part of that. I think he could be a huge player for them down the stretch of the season, really. And then you guys say a woke Bia because this is a hugely important player in this game to I and T's in the leader in the back end, which is very important for this one. They have really talented back end players for SMU. Thing is they're a little bit boomer bus. They're a little bit. I'm going to make this play on this ball. I'm going to get a pick or I'm going to let him get 70 yards downfield for a big time play. You have to find a way to keep everything in front of you, make sure they don't make that big time play. And if they do, you got to be able to respond and then maybe make a big time play yourself with a little bit of a pick or something. But at the end of the day, huge players that are going to be very important. Moving over to pit, we got to figure out what the keys to the game are. And I think for the biggest one is play your game. You have no reason to go off what you do, which is throw the football. You go after people 55% of the time you're throwing the ball, averaging 271 yards per game. That is a very good path to victory. No doubt about that. SMU allows 255 per game. You should be able to find openings in this back end. Eli Holstein and these wide receivers should be able to take advantage of those openings and if they can, could just be a very long day for SMU where they're just trying to play catch up the entire time. And then the other part of this, I would sell out against the run. I don't think this SMU team, I think they're capable through a year. I think they have the ability to pass the ball, but without RJ Maryland, the run game is the way they're going to want to go about business. They don't necessarily have the ability to say, you know, we're going to be able to throw the ball 45 times and still be able to win this game. They average 177 yards per game and they're going to have to be able to get that on Saturday. So it's going to be really interesting to watch their approach on offense, how much do they lean into the run for SMU? How much do you lean away from it? I tend to believe that they're going to try to run the ball. And I think Pitt's going to have to just sell out to stop it and live with what happens on the back end. And then you got to find takeaways. SMU is very good with their turnover margin, but they have fumbled the balls and 19 times losing it 10 times. You have the ability to get some big plays. Some of that is bounce of ball craziness, but at the end of the day, you do have the ability to make some big plays in this game. And if you can get an extra possession for Eli Holstein, that might just be all he needs to win this one. Then on the other side, I think the biggest thing and the thing that they've probably been talking about in Dallas for the last four or five days, you got to find a replacement for RJ Maryland. You have to find a way to get this offense in a place where it can be potent in both directions, because like we just talked about, if they can just sell out eight, seven, eight man boxes to stop the run, there's no way you're going to have success. So they only completed 13 passes against Duke, 153 of the, I believe, right around 200 yards came from one guy on two plays. Roger Daniels, who made some big time plays, but they got to find a couple of guys to step up to fill that RJ Maryland void. And then trust your run game. This is obviously a very talented run defense and one that is tops in the country. When you look at the actual numbers, I believe their 10th or 8th in the country thing is they gave up 100 yards, over 100 yards to Omerian Hampton. They gave up 72 yards to JV on Thomas, 188 on the ground to WVU. You have the ability to stretch this defense out. You have the ability, especially with Kevin Jennings as a running threat to kind of make them confused, even in a game where they're very good at it. I think you can find the openings that you're going to need in this game. So I think you trust your run game. I think you attack them the way that you normally attack teams. You're going to need to make place through the air. But at the end of the day, I think this pit team, although they seem to, statistically, they're number 10 in the country when it comes to stopping the run. I don't think they're going to be able to do it against this SMU front. And then you got to keep Eli Holstein at home. He is someone that can hurt you with his legs as much as Kevin Jennings is going to be the guy that's talked about as the guy that's going to extend plays and make special plays with his legs. Eli Holstein can do that as well. And if you let him get those couple of third down conversions when it's third Nate and everyone clears out to stop the pass, he can make you hurt with his legs. He can make that one play that makes all the difference in this game. So you got to keep him at home. He is a great passer. He can make plenty of plays from there, but the very least he can't hurt you for those couple of huge plays that either are going to need in this game. And it's a game I've got back and forth with. I thought SMU early, I thought pit later, but I'm going to go back to my gut. I do think SMU wins this game 31-27. It's going to be a really fun one. I think he gets up and down just a little bit. I just think there's a couple of mistakes there. I think pits coming off a game where everything went almost too perfectly for them and there's going to be some type of coming back down to earth. I think SMU just about everything went wrong and they found a way to get through it. But I have to assume it's going to get a little bit nicer to them. And I think SMU gets a huge win, continues their CFP run and possibly gets themselves into the ACC title game if pick can go on and be Clemson. But obviously we will continue to talk about this throughout the season, but a huge win for SMU here. If they're able to get it, I do think they will. It's going to be a really, really fun one out there in Dallas and we absolutely will break it down on Monday. But let's take our first break here. And when we come back, we got to get into a couple of SEC games. The large outdoor cocktail parties, this upcoming weekend, Georgia, Florida, as well as A&M heading over to Columbia, South Carolina for just a very interesting game, but we'll break it down right after this. Raise your hand if you feel really represented in our Colorado state legislature. Yeah, that's what I thought. Please, Lord, give me a sigh, a sigh. I feel like I'm losing my mind, 'cause everybody in the world died. Alrighty, welcome back, everyone. We just talked about a huge game out there in Dallas, SMU, going up against Pitt, one that will definitely decide a lot in the over there in the ACC, and definitely one that you're going to want to be tuned in to a huge, huge one, and definitely could set up one of these teams for a little bit of a CFP run. But let's get into a couple of SEC games. We have a huge game down there in Jacksonville, as well as one over there in Columbia, South Carolina, that could be just a little bit of a spoiler. But let's get into that first one over there in Jacksonville, the largest outdoor cocktail party is this upcoming weekend, a game that I've had the pleasure of going to, incredible atmosphere. It is all over the place. There are fans really going at each other. It's so much fun to be in that atmosphere. I was at the game where Brock Bowers made just the most ridiculous tip play that I've ever seen in my life, but very, very fun atmosphere. I absolutely loved it, and it's one that Georgia has played really well in. For the past little bit, I believe Kirby Smart is six and two in these games. He has definitely dominated since he has taken over. And the big question, as you head into this, if you're Florida, they played really good football the last little bit. They're three in one of their last four games, the one loss being the overtime game to Tennessee. DJ Lagway has played really good football. He's been able to push the ball down field. Could he possibly become a Gators legend this upcoming weekend? Knock off Georgia in year one and possibly just set them off on a very interesting end of their season. But on the other side, you have the Georgia team that is coming off a buy as well, coming off a game in Austin, Texas, where they looked like Georgia. They looked like the team that I think a lot of us expected going into this season. And a lot of us have seen in the first, in the last couple of seasons. So a very dominant team, I think we all understand that. If that's the defensive line you're getting coming forward, it's going to be a nightmare to deal with for just about everyone. The thing is, after this game, this game is going to be plenty tough in and of itself. But then you got Ole Miss and Tennessee over the next two weeks. It's going to get tougher for Georgia, and they got a really, really tough run coming up. So this is a huge prerequisite where you just got to get this win, make sure that you have a little bit of wiggle room down the stretch. But at the end of the day, you obviously want to get this win. This game is always interesting. This game is always intense, and it could get interesting in a hurry. Florida is able to run the ball against pretty much any team in the country, and they can make those big plays through the air. So if UGA offensive woes kind of continue, this one could get interesting in a hurry. But a couple of players to watch, you got to talk about Trevor Etienne here. He is going back to the team that he played for last year. They do not like him very much. They have made that very, very clear through a couple of Instagram and Twitter posts. So it's going to be aggressive. He's going to get hit a little bit harder than just about everyone else on that field, and we'll see how it responds. It felt like he kind of found something in Austin a couple of weeks ago. Can he continue that on Saturday? And then you got the man that scares just about everyone. You have a freshman quarterback on the other side for Florida walking into an environment that he has never been in. If you put Jalen Walker on the other side, he is going to get a little scared. I'm just being totally honest. I think that's human nature when you see someone like Jalen Walker on the other side of the line of scrimmage. But at the end of the day, he is a hugely impactful player. He's someone that you're probably going to unload a lot of these very talented edge ruptures on this young quarterback and then just make him respond. And this is going to be one of those guys. Him and Mike L. Williams could just end this game very, very early if they're able to get after the young kid very early because that could just mean he totally unravels. But on the floor to side, Jaden Ball has got to continue being huge because Montreux Johnson, I believe is going to be back in this game. It still feels like it's a little bit up in the air. But at the end of the day, Jaden Ball is going to have to be able to carry a load in this game. He had five touchdowns against Kentucky, very, very talented player. But regardless of Montreux Johnson is back or not, he's going to be carrying a load, a freshman in a very, very tough game against a very tough team. Is he up for the challenge and he's got pretty much got to be up for the challenge frankly if they're going to be able to win this game. And then he got Triquoise Bridges, a very talented player in that Florida defense has 11 or had 11 tackles and a pick against Kentucky. He's one of those guys that really puts a lot of things together for that defense, especially on that back end. He's someone that could possibly get a couple of mistakes from Carson Beck could possibly put them in some tough situations and give the young kid a couple of short fields, which frankly they just outright need in this game if they're going to be able to get it done and a couple of keys to this game. I think the run game battle is going to be fascinating to watch, whether Montreux Johnson is on the field or not. And I think he probably will be. I think there's going to be a game that's really hard to keep him off the field for, but Jaden Ball and Montreux Johnson against the top 20 run defense going to be really fun to watch. And then Georgia, it felt like they kind of found something against Texas. It wasn't necessarily pretty. The numbers weren't great and Texas run defense is very good. But you've had an 87 yards for Trevor ETN, I believe on only 9 or 10 carries. You have the ability to kind of up that low just a little bit more in this game, possibly get a little bit more push with Jared Wilson being a little bit more healthy, maybe Tate Ratlage is back. I would be a little bit surprised, but he seemed like he was gearing up in that Texas game. So maybe he's back and then you're really off running with the run game if you're Georgia. And then you got to get DJ Lagway comfortable. This is going to be different for him. He's played in a lot of really tough atmospheres. I mean, even playing in front of the swamp is plenty intimidating in and of itself. This is going to be totally different because everything changes in a second in that building. You could have one second where you're getting tons of cheers from your fans and tons of booze from the other side, and then it flips in a second if you make one mistake. He has to be able to keep his head about him. He has to be able to stay within himself because he starts making a couple of mistakes. This Georgia team will take over and not look back. That's just the reality of the way they play. So DJ's got to get comfortable early, got to make a couple of passes and if he doesn't, it could get ugly, no doubt. And then can Florida force turnovers because it's been a problem for Carson back in this year. He's had multiple three interception games against Alabama and Texas. Florida has the ability to get a couple of extra possessions for this young quarterback in. They're going to need to do it. At some point in this game, if they're going to be able to get this one done, I think that line of 17 is just a little bit too long, but not too long and not aggressively too long. I think Georgia has the ability to win this game. I do think they're going to win and buy about two scores. I think Florida is a good team. I also think there are still some flaws there and I think Georgia is looking like a well oil machine right now. So I'm not going to pick against them right now. I think they're rolling and I think they're going to be an absolute nightmare to deal with the rest of the way. This is just one of the stepping stones on that way. So Georgia gets a big time win again in Gainesville and sets themselves up for a very interesting two week run against Ole Miss and Tennessee. And then we got to move over to this one because we're about to do upset alerts in a couple of segments here. This would be on it. I wasn't doing a full breakdown because this one is going to get interesting. And A&M just came off a remarkable game that launched him to the very top of the college football world. There's so many people talking about him. They're sitting alone at the top of the biggest conference in the country. There's so many things going right for A&M. The funny thing is their quarterback situation is still very questionable. You have Marcel Reed. I do think he's going to be the starter in this game. I feel pretty confident that he will be the first one trotting out there. Will he be the second one? Will he trot out there on the fourth drive or the fifth drive? Because that's the big time question for me. How do they approach this going forward? Is it just Marcel Reed's team now and they go fully in that direction? Is it if Marcel Reed starts to make a couple of mistakes? They go back to Connor Wegman. Is it fully just matchup based? There's so many different ways that they can go about this. And frankly, there is a number of different ways that they can go about this and still win games up until that Texas game at the end of the year. You're going to have to figure out at some point who your quarterback is and how you want to move forward with that guy because you can't go into a game against the top 10 team like Texas and expect to win it with a weird quarterback situation. So this will go a long way to kind of figuring that out. Is it going to be Marcel Reed the whole way? Is Connor Wegman going to be right there in the wings waiting just to take that job right back? It's going to be really interesting to watch, but this is definitely a very interesting spot for them. A&M, if they were able to get this win, I think it fully sets themselves up for a showdown against Texas in college station at the end of the year being a 10-2 team. So a lot of things could go right in this game for A&M. Obviously, a lot of things could go wrong. Williams Bryce is a very special atmosphere. The defense for South Carolina can really get after you and the coming off a buy last week. This one could get really interesting and bring all of this hype train for A&M to a screeching halt, which obviously the Aggies don't want. It would be very interesting to watch this one, but Cyrus Allen is a guy that I want you guys to keep your eyes on because he's not necessarily the most prolific receiver for this A&M room. Noah Thomas is going to be a problem. Jade Walker is a very good player. I think you're going to need speed in this game. I think there's so many different things that A&M can do offensively and they can hurt you in so many different ways. If you're going to find a past game, especially with Marcel Reed at quarterback, it has to, I don't want to say it has to be spoon fed. He can make those big plays down the field, but he does need to have a couple of plays where he's just get the ball out on the perimeter, let that guy make a play. I think he's more than capable of doing that, but you're going to have to have a couple of guys to do that. I think Cyrus Allen is one that you get the ball in his hands five yards or closer to the line of scrimmage. He can turn it into 25 yards, 30 yards down field. So not necessarily a player that's gotten too much involved early on, but I do think he's going to be very important down the stretch and I also think Jabri Barber is another guy to watch in that position. Very much need that speed on the outside and then another guy to watch Tori in New York is huge in this game. He is the leader of this defense. He is the green dot guy. He is the guy that gets everyone in line and you're playing a quarterback and Lenore Sellers that can make you can make pretty much any defense in the country confused because he is so good at running that mesh concept. He's so good at getting out on the edge once they've had it and frankly, he's very physical. He can really hurt a guy if he's out in space and just one on one with the DB that DB is probably not having a really great time on that day. So Tori in New York is going to have to make some big time plays in this game and if he can, then South Carolina very well could get this offense going pretty well. On the other side, I think Josh Simon is huge in this game. This A&M defensive line is going to get after you. There is no two ways about that. There is going to be so many things that they're going to have to deal with on the front as an offensive line. Best way to deal with that is get a tight end at an extra block or possibly or he chips and then goes out for a route, you hit him and then he makes plays. This is a uber athletic guy. This is one of the more athletic tight ends in the entire country. He is someone that can make them hurt after the catch in. They're going to have to get the ball doing pretty quickly because this A&M defensive line is no joke. And then we got to talk about Kyle Canard. If you're talking about a South Carolina game, you got to talk about this guy and frankly, I think even more so. When you have Marcel read as a real option in this game, Kyle Canard getting upfield and not necessarily over committing to the past game or over committing to the past rush, making sure that he stays at least in phase with the offensive line and make sure that he doesn't give up any type of contain for this quarterback. And then when they run that mesh concept, when they run those read options and all those different things, he's got to be very disciplined. He's going to be the guy that's going to have to make a lot of these tackles where Marcel read has a chance to get out on the edge and then it's Kyle Canard taking him down. But if it's not, then it might be Marcel read going 80 yards for a touchdown. So a hugely important player, not only in the past rush game, but in the run defense, going to be massive along with Dylan Stewart on the other side. And then keys to this game, we talked about it a second ago, the past rush is going to be huge. Both these defensive lines are some of the best in the entire country. They have, A&M has 19 sacks on the year South Carolina 28. They can get after the quarterback. Now the thing about it is you have two quarterbacks that are very mobile and if they get out of the pocket, they're going to be problems for you. So can you get them on the ground? It's not only about causing pressure, that obviously does help with two quarterbacks that aren't necessarily elite throwers of the football, that obviously is going to help, but you got to get these guys on the ground. If you can't do that, then it's going to be a very long day for your defense. And then A&M's quarterback situation. How does this work? Is it Marcel Reed and Marcel Reed until you die? Is it Marcel Reed until he has a little bit of a mistake and then it's Connor Wegman? Is it Connor Wegman? Do they just go right back to the other guys, the starter in this game? I do think it'll be Marcel Reed starting. I don't think the leash is going to be super long. So it's going to be really interesting to watch that. If they're able to get after him a couple of times, that run game doesn't get going the way that you thought and you think, maybe we need a little bit more downfield passing game. Maybe they go right back to Connor Wegman. It's going to be fascinating to watch and could very well be the difference in this game. And then it's William Bryce at night. We have to talk about it. They've only had one true night game this entire year. It was against Akron. I promise you, this fan base is itching to get in that building on Saturday. They are waiting for this moment and they can absolutely step up to the plate. This is such a special atmosphere. There are so many different fans that are incredibly passionate about this team. And I think they think they can get this one done. They have been talking plenty of trash on Twitter. And I think they're a team that absolutely has the ability to do it. And I think they're going to do it. I'm going to take the trap. I know there's a lot of people out there picking South Carolina. I know that that's being a popular pick around the college football world. I will fall into that trap. I will be the guy that comes on here on Monday and says, I probably should have picked A&M. But at the end of the day, I do think South Carolina gets this done. I think the pass rush is just too much. I think Marcel Reed, Wally, a very good player, got the benefit of the doubt with the LSU defense not being nearly as prepared as they needed to be. I think this South Carolina game is an absolute nightmare for A&M. And I think they move forward in their season with quite a few questions about where they are going, especially in the CFP and particularly in the SEC going forward. It will be really interesting to watch that one unfold. And really both of those are a little bit of an upset alert. But let's take our second break here. And when we come back, we got to get into the playoff. We got to talk about where everyone sits. We'll break them down into four different tiers. One tier just has one team in it. And I'll break that down right after this. So stick with us. Raise your hand if you feel really represented in our Colorado state legislature. Yeah, that's what I thought. Hey, it's Ross. And I have no confidence that the people under the Golden Dome are routinely doing what's best for me and you, for our families and neighbors and friends and colleagues, because our system for choosing and electing candidates isn't functioning to benefit us. It's functioning to benefit the system, but there's something we can do about it. And it's called Proposition 131. Prop 131 will let all voters choose among all candidates regardless of party for the state legislature, Congress, and most statewide races except president with the top four going on to the general election. It gives us more options as voters and importantly, it keeps party bosses from sticking us with bad options. And as someone who wants to have true choices, I have to say that I'm even more confident in my support for Prop 131, knowing that the party bosses on both sides don't like it. It takes power away from them gives it to you and me where it belongs for a better government vote. Yes, on Prop 131. We just talked about a couple of big time SEC games, the largest outdoor cocktail party as well as A&M South Carolina, a couple of games that could go sideways and totally change up the SEC race. But at the end of the day, let's get into a couple of CFP races because this thing is getting very interesting. We've had a little bit of thinning out, we've had a couple of teams kind of bow out of this race, but we still got plenty of things to figure out. So let's break down these tiers and let's get into all of the craziness that could happen coming forward because there's quite a few hypotheticals. Frankly, I'll probably get into a couple of hypotheticals on Friday, so be on the lookout for that. But this one's going to be really interesting to break down and we'll start with the certified title contenders. I only got two. As of October 30th, these are the only two teams that I can confidently say can compete for a title right this second. I know that sounds crazy because obviously more teams will find their way into this group. There's no doubt in my mind that we could see a Miami or a Texas or a Texas A&M or a Ohio State obviously could find their Penn State, could find their way into this group. As of right this second, these are the only two teams that I'm looking at and saying those are championship caliber teams. They are playing championship football and they seem to have the makeup of a championship team. Now, a lot of things to change this upcoming weekend, particularly for Ohio State and Penn State. But as of right now, I think there's a couple of holes on a number of different teams. I think these teams do the best job of covering those holes, which is the end goal here. But at the end of the day, I think for Georgia, it feels like they turned a corner in that Texas game. It feels like they found a way to get that one done, put themselves on a path forward and I think that offense still hasn't really found itself. I think if that run game gets going a little bit more, this team could look as terrifying as really any from the past couple of years for Georgia. And then for Oregon, this team just looks like a well-oiled machine right now. If you get that play from Dylan Gabriel, if you get that D line, if you get that O line, in that run game, you are going to be a problem for pretty much everyone you play. And frankly, I'd be a little bit surprised if they didn't get at least get to the semifinals of the CFP with the way that they're playing right now. So those are the two teams right now. It's going to get bigger, obviously, as we get deeper in the season. More teams will find their way up there as they start to fix some of the issues. I think Texas, with a couple of fixes, could very well be in this group. I think Ohio State the same, Penn State the same, and then Miami and Clemson, I think are right there as well, but moving on to the teams that are CFP bound, I feel pretty good about them moving forward, but obviously still have some pitfalls ahead. The CFP bound group, it's bigger than just these five. These are just an example five, and I'll fill you in on the rest as we go down it. But for Texas, this team has taken a step back in my mind. The O line just needs to play better. The recognition of blitzes and coin-users being able to put themselves in positions to win is not quite where it needs to be. Now, I have full faith in coin-users to turn it around. I still think, I think he played really good football against Vanderbilt for the most part. That being said, this offense is facing a lot of people playing very deep in the field with all of that speed. You're not necessarily getting the downfield passing game that you very much want. You're going to have to find a way to move the ball, one way or the other. The run game has to get going, this O line has to start getting push again, or it's going to be a really, really tough down stretch of the season where you lose a couple of games you're not supposed to and you're on the outside looking in. So, they still have plenty of work to do, but as of right now, they're in very good position to win out the rest of the way, find the way to the SEC title, and be firmly in the CFP mix at the end of the year. Then you have A&M, obviously another team in this conversation. They found their way kind of up to this group this past weekend with a win against LSU. I think they could lose to Texas at the end of the year and still be in. Obviously, if they won that game, win to the SEC title, they'd very much be in. In fact, there's a very interesting SEC title hypothetical that we can obviously break down on Friday that involves four 11 and one teams and would be very confusing. But at the end of the day, this is going to be a very fascinating game between those two teams at the end of the year. We could get to a place where A&M doesn't have to worry about that one. We could get to a place where they don't have to worry about it because they're fully out of the thing. So, it's going to be really interesting to watch that one on full, but as of right now, those two teams in Texas are firmly in the driver's seat to find their way to the CFP. For Ohio State, I think they're kind of in the Texas boat in my mind. I don't think they're necessarily bad, but the O-line and the injuries there are a real issue. I'm not necessarily sure. They're going to be able to keep up against some of the very elite teams. I mean, even this weekend, it's going to get a little sketchy. Another team in this group would be Penn State and Indiana, another team from the Big Ten. So, a couple of those teams that they're going to have to play coming up, it's going to be tough to deal with. If you have that O-line, if you have that approach. So, they're going to have to get a little creative out there and we'll actually talk about that Penn State Ohio State game and a couple of the things that I think Ohio State can do to kind of fix that. We'll talk about that tomorrow. But moving forward to Iowa State, this is a big time team. I think they've put themselves in such a good place, them along with BYU, kind of in the same boat here, finding a way to be undefeated this deep into the Big 12 schedule is huge. Because now you've set yourself up in a position where they're in a really good position where all you have to do is hold serve. All you have to do is hold your water, possibly go undefeated, even maybe take one loss as long as it's not to that Kansas State team at the end of the year, you have the ability to go to the Big 12 title. And even if you lose that Kansas State game, if they've lost one before, you're more than fine. So, it's kind of a confusing situation for Iowa State and BYU, but being undefeated in the Big 12 right now is not something I expected to see and definitely puts them in the driver's seat to possibly make the Big 12 a two-bit leak into the CFP. But then you move forward to Miami. This one, they're just kind of sitting pretty right about there. I don't necessarily think they're moving up and down right about now. Obviously, they have the ability to move up over the next couple of weeks because if they can find that run game, if they can get that going, I think this offense becomes that much more scary. I think they have the ability to play more games the way that they need to because you look at championship teams. They're all capable of winning those shootout crazy games that Miami's been capable of winning. They're also capable of slowing it down and winning slugfest and that's something that Miami just hasn't quite proven to me. I definitely think they're capable of it, but gonna have to see it a couple more times. Clemson, obviously, is in this group as well. They handle business the rest of the way. They are firmly on their way to the CFP and then you got a little bit of a bubble and it's a pretty big group. Now, you have these five to kind of choose from, but it's plenty of others on here. But we'll start with that Colorado team. This team stays on the bubble just plainly because one slip in the next four games they are out. They're out of the big 12 championship. They're out of the CFP race without a doubt, especially with the loss to Kansas State already who's also in this group actually. They are firmly out of the race if they lose one more game. That being said, they're really dangerous team. They're going to need a little bit of help to find their way to the big 12 title if they were to win the rest of their games. But at the end of the day, they're a very dangerous team and I can see them somehow finding their way into that four seed. But we'll see what happens there. For Alabama, I think over in the SEC, you got Alabama LSU Tennessee or the three teams that I've kind of pegged in this group. And I think for Alabama, they're in a position where you take down LSU, you're pretty likely to roll the rest of the way. Obviously, you have that Auburn game at the end of the year going to be very tough, but a 10 and two Bama is getting in. There's a log jam at the top. I understand that and there's going to be plenty of 11 and 1 or 10 and 2 or 11 and two teams that are left out because of Bama. It doesn't matter. Bama's getting in. If they're 10 and 2, I can absolutely promise you that LSU the exact same thing. So the winner of that game, if they run the table the rest of the way, you can expect to see them in that 12 team playoff for Tennessee. It's really just about that Georgia game. You win it, you're almost definitely in. You lose it, then you're probably in the same boat as Alabama and you beat Alabama. So maybe you get the nod over them. It's going to be a nightmare in the SEC is basically what I'm trying to say. Hearing that out is going to be a nightmare and we'll see how they do it. But it could be a lot of SEC teams in there at the end of the day, but we'll deal with that later. Pitt is another team to watch here. They're really only on the bubble. They're undefeated. They're playing incredibly good football. The only reason they're on the bubble is they're underdogs by more than a touchdown this upcoming weekend against SMU and then they got Clemson still in the schedule. They have every ability to go 10 and 2 this year, have a very talent, have a very good year, but be firmly on the outside of the CFP looking in. So there's going to be something interesting to watch. I think SMU is right in this place as well. You know, you win that pick game this upcoming weekend, 11 and 1. You can still be on the outside of the ACC title looking in and then you're asking a lot of questions about where SMU fits into the CFP conversation as an 11 and 1 team with maybe not that huge marquee win that a lot of other teams have. But at the end of the day, a very talented team that very well could be in the playoff at the end of the day. And then you also have Ole Miss from the SEC forgot to bring them up a little bit earlier. They have a team that has the ability. They just got to make a run. They cannot, they have no margin for error. They got to win the rest of the way and then they're likely in, especially with the win over Georgia. But at the end of the day, for Notre Dame, they just got to continue what they're doing. They're in this for the same reason that Colorado is. They make one misstep in the next little bit. They're out. Now they should be favored in every one of those games by a pretty comfortable margin. They got USC at the end of the year. They got army in a couple of weeks. So they have some tough games, no doubt about that. But it's one of those things that the NIU loss feels like it's kind of been shaken from everyone's mind. That'll go right back into everyone's mind if they lose again. I can promise you that. So this Notre Dame team, although they seem to be firmly on their way to the CFP, they're on the bubble until really the last day of the season. If they win that last game or 11-1, then they're firmly CFP bound. Unless, until then, they're firmly on the bubble and for that last one, it's not just Boise State, it's just the group of five. Because frankly, that's where everyone sits in the group of five until after Championship weekend. They have to figure out where they stand. They got to win that game on the last weekend of the season to possibly get into the field. So if army goes undefeated, wins their conference, they're getting in, no doubt about it. If they lose, I think it could be Boise State if they're able to run the rest of the way. If Boise State were to lose in the Mountain West Championship or something like that, I think Tulane could be a team that finds their way in. If they're able to run the table in the American, apologies there, but I think it's a really interesting group. It's a group that it feels like Boise State is setting the pace, it feels like if army loses that Notre Dame game, that is the team you're going to be watching down the stretch. I still think Tulane has a shot here. They only have two losses to Oklahoma and Kansas State. I think they have the ability to possibly win out the rest of the way, win the American, if Boise State stumbles again, then they're firmly in. So a lot of teams from the group of five are still on that bubble. A lot of teams need to handle business the rest of the way in army. You could argue is in the catbird seat, they just got the toughest game on the schedule of the group going forward. So it's going to be really interesting to watch this group. It's definitely going to thin out over the next couple of weeks, but then there's this team. There's actually a chance that Virginia Tech finds their way into the CFP and I was looking at it initially and thought it has to be a million different things happening. It's got to be a couple of different things, but not necessarily all that crazy. So there's a number of different things that I guess have to happen here. First of all, they got to be Clemson. They got to handle business the rest of the way. No doubt about that. They got to get two, nine and three on the season. They have to get to, I believe, seven and one in their conference. I believe they only play eight games. So seven and one in that conference, they have to do that first and foremost. Then SMU could lose to pit this upcoming weekend. As long as pit loses to Clemson, you would have the tiebreaker there. You would have the ability to say we beat Clemson. They lost to Clemson. It would be Virginia Tech against Miami in Charlotte for the ACC title. Virginia Tech won that game. They be your four seed, which got sounds crazy. Frankly, they might not even be the four seed. They might be that other team that just gets slot in there because of the automatic qualifier, but maybe that G5 team is the fourth team in there. So a lot of things to take into account here, but yes, Virginia Tech is still alive, any misstep even in the slightest and some stuff that is out of their control, you know, they could beat Clemson, but then Clemson goes on to beat pit and SMU goes on to beat pit and then you have SMU in front of you. So a million different things can happen here, but technically, technically Virginia Tech is still alive for the CFP, but it's going to be awesome to watch this unfold. I believe there's about 21, 22 teams in the power four that still have the ability to make it. That's got to be whittled down to about 10 or 11 over the next little bit. So it's going to be fascinating to watch that unfold, but let's take our third break here. When we come back, we got to talk about upset alerts. I got six games for you guys here that I think are very, very interesting this upcoming weekend and we'll break them down right after this. Raise your hand if you feel really represented in our Colorado state legislature. Yeah, that's what I thought. Hey, it's Ross and I have no confidence that the people under the Golden Dome are routinely doing what's best for me and you for our families and neighbors and friends and colleagues because our system for choosing and electing candidates isn't functioning to benefit us. It's functioning to benefit the system, but there's something we can do about it and it's called Proposition 131. Prop 131 will let all voters choose among all candidates regardless of party for the state legislature, Congress and most statewide races except president with the top four going on to the general election. It gives us more options as voters and importantly, it keeps party bosses from sticking us with bad options. And as someone who wants to have true choices, I have to say that I'm even more confident in my support for Prop 131 knowing that the party bosses on both sides don't like it. It takes power away from them gives it to you and me where it belongs for a better government vote. Yes on Prop 131. Pay for by yes on 131 on cloth registered agent breaking news coming in from bet three six five where every nail biting overtime win breakaway pick six three point shot underdog win buzzer beater shoot out lock off and absolutely every play in between is amazing from football the basketball and hockey to baseball whatever the moment it's never ordinary at bet three six five gambling problem caller text one eight hundred gambler twenty one plus only must be physically located in Colorado. Alrighty welcome back everyone we just talked about some of the college football playoff tears very very hard to get a beat on where everyone sits right about now but I only have two real title contenders and Oregon and Georgia right the second obviously that will change over the next couple of weeks but definitely something to watch and we will break it down probably in about two weeks now we'll see how much it's thinned out see how many teams are on the bubble and see how many teams are firmly in the CFP going forward after about two weeks but let's get into a couple of upset alerts because this week ten is a little bit quiet it's one of those weeks where you don't necessarily have all the teams playing you have quite a few teams on a buy I know LSU and Texas being the main among them but plenty of other teams that are in action this upcoming weekend including Boise State and I wanted to talk about this game for the upset alert I know that line is 23 and a half I know that sounds a little bit crazy that I'm putting this out there but this is a good SESU team this is a team that has not necessarily gotten a ton of respect around the country because they really struggled out of conference they did not play very good football they also played a very tough schedule out of conference so I'm not necessarily going to take anything away from them I think they have the ability to come into this game with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder coming off a team coming off on the other side a huge win a very emotional win one where they got beat up just a little bit by UNLV could it be a little bit of a sluggish start and maybe SESU gets this one done now the SESU defense has been able to slow this a very potent running attack in Washington State they were able to slow it down last week 40 carries 114 yards 2.9 yards per carry and only a long of 22 if that's what you're getting against Boise State that's about as good as you can possibly stop I possibly do frankly it's incredibly hard to stop Ash and J&T it'll be incredibly much harder than it was to stop that Washington State attack but that being said we have seen that San Diego State can get this done we have seen that they have the ability to sell out and stop the run and then live with what happens on the back end that's probably the way that they're going to approach this game for this to happen they also need to find the run game they have not been able to really do that this year so they have to be able to kind of manufacture that one way or the other if they're going to be able to get this one done because giving the ball to Ash and J&T as many times as he wants it is never going to be a way that you're going to win a game and then you got to get some turnovers you got to get a slow start from Boise State this is one that it's more about you know could Boise State hand SDSU this game by not necessarily running the ball all that well by giving the ball away a couple of times by allowing the San Diego State running attack to get going I don't necessarily think it's about can SDSU just go out there and straight up win the game so I'm going to lean towards this is not necessarily going to happen probably a one out of five maybe a two out of five on the upset scale I think it's one worth watching on that Friday night obviously worth watching whenever J&T is on the field but at the end of the day against a team that is a little bit more stout up front it's definitely worth your time on a Friday night but then we'll get into Duke Miami because Miami finds themselves right back on the upset alert segment and this is a very interesting one because this is a Duke team that is in no way cool in no way sexy in no way awesome they do not necessarily score a ton of points they are win some very very ugly games early on in the season and have started to skid so it's not necessarily like I'm sitting here saying Duke has the ability to go punch for punch with Miami they're going to need a couple of things to happen but this Miami team is coming off a game where they were able to run the ball where they were able to get that comfortable win that they would have been looking for for quite some time thing is this Duke run defense is very very good they have every ability to kind of slow down that part of what Miami is and then in the back end they have the ability to slow down the passing attack obviously it's going to be a lot harder than some of the passing attacks they face coming forward but they're giving up a little under 200 yards per game through the air nine picks and they've got they're coming off a game where they force six turnovers against SMU obviously you got to turn those turnovers into points but at the end of the day if you're able to get a couple of mistakes from cam ward this thing could get really interesting and also for Miami just because you got that big win last week doesn't mean some of the issues are fixed does it mean you're not going to have to rely on cam ward to be a superhero against some of these more stout defensive teams it'll be interesting to watch I think this game could get ugly I think this game could get a little bit kind of just the way Duke Duke wants it which is ugly nasty and kind of down to the wire and in terms of they run the football they find a way to keep the ball out of cam wards hands thing is Miami's got way too much talent they're going to be able to run deep they're going to be able to make a couple of plays and this Duke team I think is just going to be reeling from that weird five no start that we saw so maybe a two out of five I think Duke has a toughness to stay in this game but I don't think Miami's really in too much danger to lose this one this upcoming weekend but moving forward to Kansas State Houston this one's going to be fascinating it's going to be really really interesting to watch this one unfold I apologize the line is wrong there I didn't adjust that one but it's Kansas State minus 13 and a half not 23 and a half obviously but this is a very interesting game Kansas State was barely got out of a game against Kansas this past weekend it was very very ugly and then you look at Houston they're going to have to be able to defend the run they're kind of middle of the road right now sitting at 52nd in the country giving up about 140 yards per game and that's one of those things where you haven't faced the Kansas State running attack so you're probably going to give up more than 140 yards in this game but at the end of the day I think Kansas State playing on the road is a little bit tough here I think if they were able to kind of stay at home be able to get their minds right get ready for this game they'd be in a much better position but this is a Houston team coming off a huge win over Utah could it be that they're just a little bit more hyped up they're at home they have the ability to lean on that just a little bit and maybe they make some plays here I it's a team that I don't necessarily love all that much but it's going to be really really interesting the thing about this is as much as I think Houston has the ability to sneak in as much as I think Willy Fritz has the ability to confuse this defense just enough and this offense could get bogged down just a little bit by Houston I also think Kansas State has their back up against the wall I think they understand they have to get to that Iowa State matchup with only one loss on their schedule I think the energy dynamics are interesting with Kansas State just barely getting out of a Kansas game Houston coming off a huge win but I don't necessarily think this one's a huge one I think probably a 2-8-5 definitely one worth watching but if Kansas State doesn't make a ton of mistakes they should be able to win this game this is one that I'm watching very closely for a number of different reasons but Navy's coming off a very very tough loss to Notre Dame obviously and they gave the way the ball away a ton they essentially gave that game to Notre Dame in a number of different ways but they're in a really weird spot because you very well could have given away your CFP spot if you don't get any more help the rest of the way there's no way you're getting into the CFP that being said is there a little bit juice lost in that locker room or are they fully ready going into this big-time game in Houston do they have the ability to bounce back against rice and get right back on track and still possibly be in this race if they win the American and get a little bit of help around the way but I think on the right side it's a really interesting dynamic they just fired their head coach Mike Bloomberg earlier this week and a lot of the times it's something kind of weird happens in college football and really all sports around when a coach firing happens it tends to kind of fire up the team they get this feeling that they let the coach down that they did something to put the coach in this position and they want to go out there and prove that they are capable they want to prove that they can you know rise to the challenge that they hadn't been for the first part of that coach's tenure so maybe that's what happens here maybe rice has the ability to kind of get after them and kind of create problems just from an energy perspective because navy's coming off a game that likely knocked them out of the CFP race rice is coming off a game where they got their coach fired maybe there's a little bit of juice in that locker room to prove everyone wrong now the issue with this is rice cannot stop the run they're 95th in the country they give up 177 yards per game and it's almost definitely going to be more than 177 yards per game in this one I think this one's really fun to think about I do think there could be a little bit of a bounce back from rice and this one could be tied or even there in the lead at halftime possibly but I think navy gets this one done I'm gonna say a three out of five on the upset meter I think it's a very interesting one to watch but I don't necessarily think unless rice finds just incredible plays the same way Notre Dame did that they're going to be able to get this one done and then we got this one Texas Tech Iowa State is a very very interesting one frankly that Kansas State game they're going to be watching this one fairly closely because this is a funny game Texas Tech has pretty much been knocked out of the big 12 contention with the last two losses and now they're in a kind of weird spot moving forward for Iowa State full steam ahead to the big 12 title and it does look like Texas Tech is going to go back to Baron Morton as the starter so definitely something to watch there will him and played some good football but is a young player going up against this defense would be a lot for him definitely will be something to watch but for me the quarterbacks have very little to do with this if they're going to be able to get this one if Texas Tech is able to be able to get this win it's going to be Taj Brooks leading the way it's going to be him dominating on the ground Iowa State not being able to have an answer because they gave up over 300 yards to UCF a couple of weeks ago on the ground obviously Texas Tech doesn't have that jacore brown type that can make you hurt with his legs but absolutely has the ability to run the football absolutely can get after you so maybe that's what happens if Iowa State is not elite at stopping the run if they are they're very good at stopping the pass so you know what Texas Tech's going to do or is Iowa State able to just put more guys in the box stop the run that way and be able to slow this one down I think this one's going to get interesting we saw what UCF was capable of doing to Iowa State when they were able to run the ball keep the ball out of the hands of the Iowa State offense I think that's exactly what Texas Tech can do here I think this one's a little bit sketchy I like Iowa State but I like them very very close in this one and we'll probably break down a couple of these games tomorrow so be on the lookout for that do that and it's just a little bit more depth but let's get into Ole Miss Arkansas because this is a fascinating game Arkansas is one of the most dangerous teams in the country I feel like I've said that a million times at this point but Taylor and Green is a very very special athlete especially at quarterback there's very few in the country that are more special in him at that position and then you have Ole Miss coming off a win they need a win they need to win the rest of the way they have to be able to go on the road get this win then go back home and play a really tough UGA team if they're able to get those two then they're off to the races and things get really interesting again but Arkansas is a very tough team we saw them against Tennessee Ole Miss has struggled with very physical very tough teams at the point of attack are they going to be able to handle this one I think Arkansas could make this one sketchy it's very very bad I think this one is very a much a dangerous spot for Ole Miss I think it is a five out of five on the upset meter because I think Arkansas could very well get this one done we will break it down tomorrow I'm still kind of making my pick for that one but we'll break it down in a little bit more detail tomorrow but this one's going to get interesting I can almost promise you that so upset alerts are going to be around no doubt about that and we'll talk about that actually in the next segment here is this weekend just a little bit too quiet we have a lot of teams on buys and not those huge marquee games all over the place could this be one of those weeks where we see a ton of those big time teams go down and everything is mixed up once again we'll break it down right after this raise your hand if you feel really represented in our Colorado state legislature yeah that's what I thought hey it's Ross and I have no confidence that the people under the Golden Dome are routinely doing what's best for me and you for our families and neighbors and friends and colleagues because our system for choosing and electing candidates isn't functioning to benefit us it's functioning to benefit the system but there's b-a-r-t-e-s-i-a-n.com/coctail [Music] [Music] [Music] all righty welcome back everyone we just talked about some of the upset alerts all around the country definitely some big-time teams that saw some CFP hopes that could go down this upcoming weekend and put their season in a very very weird place going forward but let's get into a couple of questions as we head into week 10 because there's definitely going to be a very interesting week ahead of us there's a lot of different games and the biggest question I have is is this weekend just a little bit too quiet you have that big-time game over there in college station you have the game down in Dallas that I think is going to be really awesome outside of that you don't necessarily have these big marquee games around the schedule you have quite a few teams on a buy LSU Texas among a number of noted aims on a buy as well a lot of teams that aren't necessarily strapping them up this upcoming weekend so what happens is there an ability for a lot of people to be you know going out on a on a date night with their girlfriend on Saturday and be missing a huge game is there an ability for a family to go out to a pumpkin patch or go out to apple picking on a Saturday and miss one of the big-time games in the noon window there is this is a land mine Saturday if there ever was one there's it's one of those weekends where you just got to be smart you got to make sure that you were locked in as much as you can be obviously don't blow off any plans I'm not saying that but I am saying there's quite a few games out there that could totally change the way that we're looking at the college football world that South Carolina a&m game we talked about it it could get interesting out there in columbia and possibly knock a team off their pedestal and make that SEC race a little bit more confusing and then you do have Georgia Florida as well another game that I think is going to get really interesting we've seen a lot of these crazy matchups and then there's always that NIU team out there there's always that game out there UMass is playing uh Mississippi State this upcoming weekend Mississippi State already lost to Toledo so just wanted to watch out there but at the end of the day there's a lot of different things to watch I think that Michigan game against Oregon maybe they can cause some problems and muck it up and get things interesting in that Oregon game there's so many different games all around the country that at the very least could cause issues at the very least can make things interesting Kentucky could beat Tennessee move them to two losses already on the season as they head into a Georgia game things we get interesting in a hurry over there there are so many different things that could happen this upcoming weekend to just make things a little bit sketchy in this college football world maybe it'll help us out a little bit maybe it'll give us some answers but at the end of the day I think we know anything about 2024 they're not necessarily interested in giving us many answers this year they're interested in making things a lot more complicated it's very possible that this happened this upcoming weekend so definitely be vigilant I'm not saying blow off plans I'm not saying you know leave your girlfriend in the lurch I am saying make sure that you're locked in on this weekend because it could get very very interesting in a hurry and then we got to get to the under rate under the radar game of the week because that's obviously a huge part of this week with a lot of teams off with a lot of teams not playing those marquee games you got to be on the lookout for some smaller games out there and I think Virginia Tech Syracuse is huge we talked about Virginia Tech just a second ago they're a team that can still make the CFP they somehow have the ability to go to the ACC title win it and possibly be one of those teams in there so this is a game they got to win they're going on the road to a team that just got absolutely body bagged by pit and definitely a really really tough game for them can Virginia Tech get that same uh same juice from this game it's going to be really really fun to watch and I think it's a battle uh from start to finish really and kind of a battle of styles and we'll get into that one a little bit more deeply tomorrow Vanderbilt Auburn is another game that I'm watching in I'm watching it for that one guy Diego Pavia is returning to Auburn Alabama he is 2 and 0 against Hugh Freeze he is one of yeah he is one excuse me he is one of the against Auburn he came over last year as in New Mexico State Rebel was able to win that game now you got to go in and win another really gritty matchup he is not the favorite in this game I thought they would be there or not but at the end of the day he's coming right back in I believe he has over 500 yards passing and nine touchdowns against Hugh Freeze teams maybe he just hates that guy maybe he's able to do it again this upcoming weekend a hand Auburn another loss and continue at least a little bit of the magic that Vanderbilt has had this year and then USC Washington I think he's a really fascinating one this upcoming weekend because these are two teams that they're out of the big twin race they're out of the CFP race they have really pride to play for the rest of the way and with Oregon doing what they're doing up there in the Pacific Northwest both these teams want as many wins as they can possibly get they know that Oregon is going to be the standard going forward they know that they're going to be compared to Oregon going forward they just want to be the second one on that wrong and these are the two teams probably fighting over that spot this is going to be a huge game it's going to be one of those games that doesn't necessarily mean a ton when it comes to the CFP or anything like that it's going to mean a ton to those players in those jerseys it's going to be fascinating to watch this one unfold and then we got to get into who needs to make a statement who needs to be that team that really comes forward and really plants their flag this upcoming weekend it might sound weird but I do think Georgia has to do it I need to see Georgia do it again I saw what I saw at Texas and frankly if that's the team you're getting the rest of the way I don't know if there's a team in the country that is going to be able to stop that that being said you got to be able to come out against Florida and do it again the problem with this team this year has not necessarily been they don't have that top-end level is that that top-end level isn't consistent it's not there consistently enough and they're gonna have to change that this upcoming weekend if they're able to go down there to Jacksonville getting dominating win over Florida then I'm sitting there saying okay no doubt about it this is one of the top 10 or top two teams in the country and they're firmly in the driver's seat possibly in the SEC and possibly for a title but as of right now they're still maybe 1% of me that might be a little bit worried about this team in terms of consistency this weekend kind of put that to bed and then take XA&M no doubt about it you're walking into a very very tough spot this upcoming weekend there are moments where this could go bad very quickly and I think for A&M last week was an arrival I talked about it yesterday it's not a normal win it's not like the Alabama win a couple of years ago where they were already 0 and 4 in conference they finished 8 and 4 on the year this is an ability to totally change your program going forward thing is you lose this game this upcoming weekend a lot of those guys that you have interested in committing a lot of those guys that watch that game and said man this is the program that I really want to play for is then going to look this upcoming weekend and say this is a program that is not consistent all this is a program that's a little bit all over the place and I don't know if I'm as confident in them going forward so you're gonna have to plant your flag this upcoming weekend it doesn't have to be a beautiful win it doesn't have to be by a million points it's got to be a win no doubt about that this weekend is Ohio states to me they need to win that game and say college they need to win it I don't want to say in dominating fashion they need to look a lot better it can't be one of those where you just clunk your way to the finish everyone that both those teams are just making mistake after mistake and then Ohio State eakes out with a three-point win they very badly need to find a way to win this game they very badly need to look good at the very least while doing it and I do think it's going to be a really really tough battle I think it's going to be back and forth Ohio State I have a lot of issues I have a lot of questions right now I could have zero by 4 p.m. on Saturday if they're able to handle business and handle it at least go about their business all right if you know Penn State goes crazy and goes has four touchdowns over 50 yards and does incredible stuff maybe that's a little bit out of your control although your defense shouldn't be giving up 50 yard passes but at the end of the day I do think it's going to be one of those games where Ohio State's got to get a win they got to get a win where they look good doing it and if they don't then I have a lot of questions about what this team can do this year and what Ryan Day's future is in Columbus Ohio moving forward to the group of five game of the week there's quite a few now they group of five as a whole not necessarily playing those marquee games this upcoming weekend but USF FAU is a very interesting one obviously those two south Florida teams they're going to get after each other just a little bit and I think this is one of those matchups that is not necessarily going to affect the American race it's not necessarily going to be a huge one when we talk about the CFP it is going to be a really fun one two teams that really want to get after each other two teams that want to win this matchup about as bad as really any other one on their schedule so it's going to be really fun to watch that one in I think there's a couple of playmakers on both sides that make that really really fun then we got Hawaii Fresno State this is a very interesting game in the Mountain West because Fresno State just got themselves back into the fight I think they still need a couple of things to go their way down the stretch to find their way into that Mountain West championship but at the end of the day Hawaii is a really interesting team they're a team that is coming off a game Brayden Strieger their starting quarterback had four rushing touchdowns in this game I think he had four coming into the game in his entire career so I don't know what happened there but at the end of the day they were able to get the win over Utah State and now they move forward to a very interesting game this upcoming weekend whoever wins this one especially Fresno State but Hawaii absolutely can get back into the conversation I think is going to be a huge one in the Mountain West down the stretch and then Memphis UTSA takes the cake for me and it's really just one word you're going to get points in this game those are going to be points all over the place I cannot wait for this game the defense or have really struggled this year especially UTSA and the second half of that game last week against Tulsa it was downright ugly but this could be a game that's decided in the 40s like like last game against Tulsa so it'll be really interesting to watch this one I think at the very least this one will get fun in the hurry and then we got to talk about the Heisman race it feels like we have whittled this thing down it feels like we got four guys right it feels like we got Cam Ward Dillon Gabriel Ashton J&T and Travis Hunter Travis Hunter is not playing this upcoming weekend so let's break down the other three and Cam Ward is one that you got to just dominate another inferior team there's a team that can stop the pass that has that ability they have not faced Cam Ward yet that is the big time difference in their past defense compared to others that have faced Cam Ward because this guy can do some different things and I'm not suggesting that they stat pad in any way I can say pretty comfortably he's got some ground to make up with Travis Hunter if Travis Hunter keeps this thing up then all these quarterbacks all these running backs are badly going to need to make a couple of big time plays down the stretch and then we'll see what happens you also have Dillon Gabriel who actually sits at the top of the odds in a number of different places around the country I would not have him there but that's totally beside the point this is a huge huge game for him he's going up against a defense with Michigan that is going to have probably at least three guys drafted in the first round of the NFL draft so if he can get rolling if he can go for 300 yards four touchdowns have a crazy day he's going to be pretty firmly at the top of that conversation and then you're gonna have to figure out where you stand but this guy's gonna have plenty to say about it Ash and J&T is one of my favorite players in the country I've made that abundantly clear at this point but him and Hunter are in a very very heated battle at least in my mind I think Hunter might have the very slight edge right now but let's just say you got a Friday night game you got it stand alone against a team that has the ability to stop the run is a very solid team but you should be able to beat them you should be able to pretty comfortably beat them and you're playing at 8 p.m. you're not playing at 10 15 you're not playing at 11 p.m. at night where a lot of these voters have gone to sleep and they'll just wake up the next day and see your yards per carry you have the ability to make a statement here you have the ability to go for 200 yards three touchdowns and show everyone that you are the very best running back possibly the very best player in the entire country but you got to take full advantage this upcoming weekend you got to take full advantage on Friday night and if you can then this Heisman race becomes very very close in a hurry and then we got to get the individual matchup of the week because this is something that I've had a really good time doing I think it's kind of a confused it's an interesting way to look a little bit more deep into these matchups because there's quite a few that I'm very interested in the biggest one is the South Carolina defense and really their defense of coordinator against A&M quarterback situation how do you approach this game if your South Carolina's coordinator because I don't know which quarterback's going to be out there to start the game I don't know which quarterback's going to be out there to start the first quarter or the second or the third or the fourth I don't know where these guys are going to play I don't know how they're going to use them I don't know if it's going to be two quarterback approach there's a million different things to worry about if you're South Carolina how they approach this game how they attack these this team and how different it looks comparative to the quarterback that's in is going to be really interesting to walk and it's going to be a load for these guys to deal with over the next couple of days and then you got SMU against the pit run defense or SMU's run game or SMU's offense really in general against the pit defense because you have a really really elite running backs on the side of SMU you have a quarterback that absolutely can make you hurt with his legs and then the pit front seven has some dudes especially at linebacker they got plenty of guys that can make some big big time plays including Brandon George who made a huge play in that a serie-cused game where the ball just kind of fell into his hands but at the end of the day I do think it's going to be a huge matchup if they're able to stop that running attack in particular things get interesting in a hurry in that game then you got chip Kelly against this Penn State defense he's going to have his hands full and he doesn't necessarily have the offensive line to sit back there and say you guys go handle your business go be able to push him around will run the ball to a win I don't think that's the way that Ohio State's going to be able to win this game he they're going to have to get creative in the run game they're going to have to be able to find openings in different ways and they're going to have to be able to help out that offensive line because they're not holding up for four quarters against that Penn State D line I can promise you that so he's got to take full advantage of these slight openings that he's going to have in this game and it's going to be fascinating to see what game plan he has for them but it's one of those weeks man it's one of those weeks where you have Penn State Ohio State you have pit SMU and then you're kind of looking around you're trying to find that one game to watch you're trying to find that a couple of things to tune into I promise there's going to be something to tune into there's going to be some upset going on there's going to be some team that's playing better than you thought there's going to be some team that's just totally uh giving up on their season totally losing their season in front of our eyes so definitely something to watch out for this upcoming weekend we will be back tomorrow to break down the big the general election it gives us more options as voters and importantly it keeps party bosses from sticking us with bad options and as someone who wants to have true choices I have to say that I'm even more confident in my support for prop 131 knowing that the party bosses on both sides don't like it it takes power away from them gives it to you and me where it belongs for a better government
