Raise your hand if you feel really represented in our Colorado state legislature. Yeah, that's what I thought. Hey, it's Ross, and I have no confidence that the people under the Golden Dome are routinely doing what's best for me and you, for our families and neighbors and friends and colleagues, because our system for choosing and electing candidates isn't functioning to benefit us, it's functioning to benefit the system. But there's something we can do about it, and it's called Proposition 131. Prop 131 will let all voters choose among all candidates, regardless of party, for the state legislature, Congress, and most statewide races, except president, with the top four going on to the general election. It gives us more options as voters, and importantly, it keeps party bosses from sticking us with bad options. And as someone who wants to have true choices, I have to say that I'm even more confident in my support for Prop 131, knowing that the party bosses on both sides don't like it. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Welcome in, everyone, to another edition of the GSMC College Football Podcast brought to you by the GSMC Sports Network. I'm your host, as always, Tommy Brzee. It is Tuesday, October 29th around here, and we have a great show for you today. We're going to start talking about all of the conference races. We have about a million things to get into, because all of these conference races have a ton of log jams at the top. There have been some thinning out over the last couple of weeks, but not necessarily quite as much as we want it. And then we'll get into some winners and losers of this past week. A&M boosters have to be feeling pretty good about the investment they made to buy out Jumbo Fisher right about now. And then we'll get into a little bit of a week nine and whip around all of the games we didn't have a chance to get to before. A lot of group of five games that I want to get you guys updated on, including one of the craziest comebacks you will see in all of college football and football in general, really. And then you'll get into week nine superlatives, a ton of different things, the biggest win of the week, individual performance of the week, statement of the week, and so many more. And then we'll finish off with a top 15 Tuesday. Definitely going to expand this just a little bit down the stretch of the season because we got some big games coming up. And I want to make sure you guys know who I have on my bubble. There's one team that's missing from my top 15 that might be a little bit surprising to some people. But before we jump in, I do want to remind you all, we get tons of questions and comments throughout the show. And the best way for you all to get your question on the screen, we can have a fun back and forth here, is to use that super thanks feature on the bottom of the chat at the super chat feature. Excuse me, at the bottom of the chat on the sports network page, you can click on that dollar sign at any question, comment you'd like. It'll pop up on the screen and we can have fun back and forth here. Definitely want this to be interactive as we head into the home stretch of the season as it were. But let's go ahead and jump into this because these conference races are getting a little bit more understandable, a little bit more attainable, a little bit more digestible. But at a certain point, it's continuing to just get absolutely off the walls crazy and there's still plenty of teams that are very much in the fight and includes six or seven teams here, depending on the way that you cut it. There are a lot of different teams on this list that absolutely can make a little bit of a run in this conference this upcoming year. So the SEC in general, A&M's up at top, they're sitting 5-0 in conference play, playing really, really good football right about now. So they're fine, they're doing what they need to be doing, no doubt about that. And then you have a couple other teams. You got Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, LSU, and Alabama. All those teams are very much in it, Ole Miss is in it as well. I want to say that, are they really five and three? I feel like that record's wrong. Apologies if it is, they could be six and two. But at the end of the day, those feel like the seven teams that are actually in the hunt that have an ability to possibly go on to get to the CFP to possibly, you know, in some cases win the conference. I feel like that's kind of reserved for those top four teams right there because they have a couple of games coming up against each other. And if they take care of business and then whoever wins those games, that will be the team, those will be the teams in Atlanta at the end of the year. So it's kind of a hard thing to break down because it feels like we have about seven teams. I think it's three, maybe four spots in the CFP? Probably three, the way that everything's starting to shake out. So who could that be? You know, you have the Texas, Texas, A&M game likely going to knock one of those out. But let's just say Texas is 10 and two at the end of the year. It wouldn't be the most impressive resume, but let's be totally honest with each other. That Longhorn definitely gives them a little bit of boost in the conversations for the playoff. Alabama runs the table. They're 10 and two. That creates another problem. You have to figure out how good their schedule is comparative to other people because they 10 and two A&M, a 10 and two Alabama, 10 and two A&M would have the win over LSU. And Alabama would as well, and you'd have to figure out how you kind of go about that. A&M wanted at home, Alabama wanted on the road, the margin of victory. It would be a nightmare to figure out, but the reality is, it feels like we're heading for a log jam in this conference. It feels like we're heading for a ton of different tiebreakers to be kind of imposed here one way or the other. Now, we could avoid that altogether. Let's say Tennessee goes down to Athens in a couple of weeks, loses to Georgia, and then Texas goes to A&M in a couple of weeks, loses to A&M. It would be A&M in Georgia, no question about it. If Texas wins out, it would be Texas and Georgia, no doubt about it. If Tennessee beats Georgia, it would then be Texas and Tennessee. So you're pretty much looking at those four teams for the conference championship. LSU could get back into the hunt only being three in one in conference, so still have an ability to find their way back into this thing. But as of right now, it feels like those four teams at the top are going to be the ones that you're watching down the stretch of the season, at least for the SEC title. For the CFP, I believe there's about seven teams going all the way down to Ole Miss. I feel like everyone has a shot. Missouri I've talked about. I think they're out of it. Arkansas, no way. I can't imagine a three-loss Arkansas is going to ever find their way into this thing, even if they were to beat Ole Miss this upcoming weekend. But at the end of the day, if you want to break it down into real contenders and real pretenders, I think the best way to do it is probably just break it down by this list if I'm being totally honest. I do think those four top teams and really those three top teams, but let's say those four top teams for the time being are probably the ones that you're watching for the CFP, just because there's not that much room to go around. I think Alabama could win out and be a 10-2 team. I'm not even sure there would be room in that case, because then you might have 11-1 Texas, a 10-2 A&M with a win over LSU, a ton of different teams and possibly a close loss over a team that's in the playoff already in Notre Dame. There's a lot of things that are going to be coming into play over the next couple of weeks, but I do feel like Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and A&M are in the catbird seat right now. They have to win out if they win out they are in all of those teams. So Texas would have to beat A&M and vice versa, or Georgia would have to beat Tennessee and vice versa. Those would be the teams that hypothetically have the chance to get to the SEC title and then possibly win it, but at the end of the day, it feels like it's about seven teams. Those seven teams are right there competing for about four or three spots in the CFP. I don't know who gets them, but at the end of the day, with a lot of the other log jams we're about to look at, it wouldn't be surprising to me if there were a couple of 10-2 teams in the SEC that were on the outside looking in. Then we move over to the big 10, and this one probably the most digestible of all of the conferences, and it's not necessarily all that easy to break down, but it is one that you see the division. It's those four teams up top and it's pretty much everyone else. Now Illinois is a team that hypothetically could get to 10-2 possibly be in that fight. I think way too many things would have to happen for Illinois to get that done. So I'm not necessarily putting too much stock into Illinois down the stretch of the season with losses to Penn State and Oregon. They're essentially out of the big 10 title race and I don't think they're going to get back into the CFP race. But you look at the other teams there, Indiana rolling right along. There's a very good argument to be made that they're the second best team in this conference right now. I think Oregon, obviously the number one team in the country very well could be the number one team in the conference. But at the end of the day, I think there's so many different things that can happen the rest of the way Ohio State could beat two of the teams right on top of them in Penn State and Indiana move up to the top and then we get that rematch with Oregon. We could have Penn State win this upcoming weekend kind of bury Ohio State, but then they might not even go if Indiana is able to beat Ohio State as well. So we could find a world where Ohio State's just entirely left out of this conversation and in general, which would be absolutely crazy. I also think there's a, I don't want to say more likely, but definitely a scenario where you have four 11-1 teams at the very top of this conference. Let's say Ohio State wins out Indiana, Penn State only lose that game and none others and Oregon loses a game along the way. That's going to be three 11-1 teams as you head into that conference championship. I think it would be Ohio State, Oregon. I feel pretty good about that, but at the end of the day, it would still be all over the place in terms of who gets into the CFP. You probably have to let all four in, which would then probably take a little bit away from the team like Alabama, who's 10-2 or a team like Texas, possibly who's 10-2 at the end of the year. It would be absolute chaos, but if you get those four top teams being 11-1 at the end of the year, that's probably the biggest chaos scenario and that seems to be where we're heading in some respects. You still have those three teams up top that everyone has above everyone else and I sort of agree, Indiana is closing that gap more and more as we get deeper and deeper throughout the season, but Indiana is right there and then a steep drop off. There's no way that anyone else is going to be able to make a run at this conference and then probably not at the CFP, frankly. I can't imagine Wisconsin, Minnesota or Iowa finding their way into the CFP this year. It's those four teams up top and we'll see if any of them drop out or if it's just those four that find their way into the CFP. Over to the Big 12, this one, we finally got some answers in the Big 12 because I feel like we can cut this down to those top four teams. I don't think we need to worry about TCU, Texas, Texas, Cincinnati and so on the rest of the way. Now, you should watch them. They're very fun teams throughout that conference, but at the end of the day, there are so many different things that could have gone wrong in this conference, that could have gone haywire, that could have created this to be kind of a five, ten and two team just all over the place. It is thinning out just a little bit. You have BYU and Iowa State up there undefeated. They're taking care of business. They're my favorite teams in the conference. I've made that very clear. Kansas State is my pick or not, he would, that's confusing. He was my pick to win the conference at the beginning of the year, then in my mid-season redo's picked to Iowa State to win it. So I still have Kansas State in the championships, still think they're going to run the table, but they need a little bit of help. BYU's got to be able to win the rest of the way. They have to avoid pitfalls at Utah and Arizona State, Iowa State. Same thing with Texas, Texas, Cincinnati before that KSU game. So a lot of things moving in that direction for this thing to kind of be worked out. Now Colorado could take over this entire thing. They have one loss in conference, two losses overall. They could absolutely win out, find themselves in Arlington at the end of the day, and possibly make the playoff. Now, they could win out and not find their way in how Arlington. They don't necessarily play a lot of the teams above them, and a lot of the teams above them could just handle their business. And then you have a 10-2 Colorado team that missed out on the Big 12 title, and you have to figure out how to handle that. So that's a whole problem for the CFP Committee to handle. But at the end of the day, I think it is a conference that has thinned out quite a bit. You do have those four teams up top. Those are the ones that you're going to be watching as you move forward into the CFP. You've got BYU, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Colorado. Those are going to be the teams that possibly have a shot at the CFP. Anyone beyond that, their job now is just to throw wrenches into the work. And there are plenty of teams that can do that. We talked about that Texas Tech Iowa State game. Colorado, I believe, has Utah at some point. There's a number of different games that could get in the way of these four teams possibly taking a stranglehold, but as you can see, there's quite the gap. There's four teams, and then there's pretty much everyone else in this conference right about now. Now, everyone else has a ton of ability and can be pretty much anyone in the conference on any given day. So this thing could get a little bit haywire towards the end of the season. But as of right now, it's Iowa State BYU setting the pace. Everyone else right there, Kansas State, Colorado, right there, and then everyone else kind of just hanging out in the pack, really. And then you got the ACC. This is another one that is a little bit funny. It's a little bit all over the place. You have Clemson up top Miami's SMU and Pitt. All those teams are undefeated in conference, and at some point, you're going to have to figure out which way this goes, but Pitt is going to be a team to watch throughout the rest of the way because they got SMU this upcoming weekend. They have Clemson in a couple of weeks. They win both those games. This thing handles itself pretty quickly. Clemson has a loss in conference, so does SMU. Oh, excuse me. They both have two losses on the season, and Pitt and Miami likely go to the ACC championship. Now, if SMU were to beat Pitt this upcoming weekend, I don't know what that would do in terms of it. If Pitt were to lose those two games, they're definitely out of it. A 10-2 Pitt is probably not getting into the playoff field, although they've had an incredible season, wouldn't necessarily have the resume to get into the CFP if they were to lose these two games coming up, but they could go one-on-one. SMU could win out the rest of the way, be 11-1, and then you have a Clemson team that could possibly lose to Pitt, be a 10-2 team, but only have one loss in conference. One of the losses being to Georgia, there's a lot to figure out in this conference, and Miami is still a team that I'm very worried about from a week-to-week basis, just being able to handle their business, not have to worry about anything, not have to give their fans a heart attack, which we'll talk about in the next segment here, but overall, I think there's those four teams up top, and then there's the chaos team, which is Virginia Tech. They're going to win out, and I think a couple of things go their way, more than anything else, because I don't think they play Clemson in a couple of weeks, they do play Clemson in a couple of weeks as I've written down here, and then as long as Pitt falls a couple of times, they could be in this thing, and that would be the craziest turn of events and would probably confirm the ACC as a one-bit league if I had to imagine, but at the end of the day, there's going to be so many things going on in the next couple of weeks where Pitt SMU, if Pitt wins, they move on, they're definitely the team, SMU's probably out of the hunt for the CFP going forward. I think if SMU wins, a lot of things get a little bit crazy, but Pitt would have to be Clemson to stay alive in this conference, so I do think it's going to shake itself out, I tend to believe that SMU and Pitt at some point are going to stumble the rest of the way, but they haven't yet, so it's hard for me to say that with absolute confidence. Obviously, someone has to lose this upcoming weekend, if it's SMU, you can pretty much write them off in this conference race, having a loss to someone above you this deep in the season, not necessarily where you want to be if you're SMU, so overall, I think you look at all four of these conferences, and you try to break down which teams are actually in the hunt, which teams aren't. You could have four undefeated or 11-in-1 teams in the Big 10, you could have four in the ACC, you could have three in the Big 12, and you could have a lot of SEC teams that are right around that area, whether it's 10-in-2 or 11-in-1, I think there's going to be a lot of teams that are 10-in-2, that are maybe even 11-in-1 in certain respects, maybe 11-in-2 after a loss in your conference championship, and you look up and you're not getting into the playoff. I know that sounds crazy, but the deeper and deeper, these undefeated teams like BYU and Iowa State and Indiana and Pitt, I was blanking on the last one, and Pitt, the longer these teams go into the season being undefeated, the higher those chances become. So all of these games in the latter half of the season, Texas falls to Florida in a couple of weeks, they're probably out of it, and so it's crazy to think because they could go on beat A&M and be probably third or fourth in the conference, it wouldn't necessarily matter if you have four 11-in-1 teams up in the Big 10, if you have a million things to figure out in the Big 12, and then you got the G5 to figure out, and then you got Notre Day and they could come into the mix, so it could be those, I believe, 20 teams is what I counted earlier, competing for 10 spots in this thing, which would be absolutely insane and would be a crazy last month, and that's what we're going to get into. We're going to have to figure out how we navigate that, but at the end of the day, we'll take our break and we'll figure out all of that in a later date, but we'll take our break here and when we come back, we got some winners and losers from this past weekend. One of the biggest winners is all of the A&M boosters because that investment feels pretty good right about now, but I'll break it down right after this. Here's your hand if you feel really represented in our Colorado state legislature. Yeah, that's what I thought. Hey, it's Ross, and I have no confidence that the people under the Golden Dome are routinely doing what's best for me and you, for our families and neighbors and friends and colleagues, because our system for choosing and electing candidates isn't functioning to benefit us, it's functioning to benefit the system, but there's something we can do about it, and it's called Proposition 131. I want to be the greatest. I want to be the greatest. I want to be the greatest. I want to be the greatest. Welcome back everyone. We just got into some of the different conference races tried to break it down as best I could frankly there's gonna be a lot of stuff happening over the next month. We will keep you updated with it all But it's gonna be crazy. I feel like there's about 20 teens competing for about 10 spots right about now Notre Dame felling a falling out would help out quite a bit But as of right now, they're plugging right along and they're doing their thing. So going to be interesting to watch We will keep you updated as it unfolds, but let's get into the week nine winners and losers because there's quite a few to go around And there's one that I left off on here, and I feel terrible about it But I'll break it down at the end for you guys But winners and losers from this week nine that was a little quiet at times Not necessarily the most explosive week that we've had and makes me think about next week But I'll get into that tomorrow But a number of different things I want to break down and we'll start with the A&M boosters They got to be feeling great right now because man did they take a lot of crap for a fire and jimbo Fisher Giving him 78 million dollars pushing him out the door, and it was the right decision I'm not arguing that at all. There was no question that at the time It was the right decision to move on from jimbo Fisher. They had done that thing time and again They were in year five felt like the exact same team So I was not necessarily against that decision by any means But they did have to fork over quite a bit of money and they're gonna have to continue to do that until 2031 Those checks are gonna feel pretty good to write if Mike Oco is still in that building I can promise you that he has got to feel really really good We're going right now where all that money that you're going to be spending on jimbo Fisher over the next little bit You are more than happy to write that check now You are more than happy to keep him away from your program as long as Mike Elko is in that program because the reality is If Mike Elko was five and three and having big issues across, you know Development and maybe the offensive line wasn't playing great and a lot of different things It would be a little bit tougher. It would probably put them on the loser list if I had to imagine But as of right now they're in the driver's seat of the SEC and I got to imagine those checks that they're writing to jimbo Fisher Feel a little bit lighter than they did about six months ago But incredible weekend for the A&M Aggies and they got to continue it going We'll talk about that game at South Carolina tomorrow because it's a sketchy one. No doubt about that Loser was the two lost teams We just talked about it. It is going to be a nightmare to find your way into the CFP if things hold the way They are obviously there's going to be a lot of chaos down the stretch But if you watch BYU if you watch Iowa State if you watch Indiana right now, I don't know who's beating them They're playing really really good football and I don't think there's a team in front of them That's really going to cause too many problems But at the end of the day definitely could thin out a little bit But there's gonna be a lot of to talk to lost teams that are just left out. Let's say Illinois goes 10 and 2 They got two losses at Penn State and at Oregon That's not gonna get them into the playoff And I know that sounds a little bit crazy And it's going to be one of the reasons that the big 10 goes in February and says we want 16 teams and we want more automatic bids That's part of this they want those teams those Illinois teams in the playoff because gives you more representation Gives a little bit more shine to a school that probably deserves it for a year that they've played really really good football Have fought every single week and have taken big-time steps forward. They deserve a little bit more love But at the end of the day, they're just gonna be on the pile heap of 10 and 2 teams that find their way into The Sun Bowl or something like that and it's going to be very very weird to navigate But at the end of the day in the SEC alone, you could have four or five teams that are 10 and 2 at the end of the day You could have Georgia, Alabama, Texas, even Texas A&M A lot of these teams could be 10 and 2 at the end of the day And there's probably only room for one maybe two of those teams Which is going to be an absolute nightmare and you're gonna make a lot of people in the South very very mad because you got two losses Let's say it's Alabama and LSU both those teams could end with two losses now in this scenario Obviously Alabama has won that game or they both have two losses right now Excuse me whoever wins that game is definitely going to be in a great position to make the CFP Let's just say that A&M loses to Texas and that's their only loss on the season outside of Notre Dame Who's in the playoff? And then you have a Georgia team that goes to the SEC to the SEC championship with a win over Tennessee Who beat Alabama who could be 10 and 2 and then he have Texas going to the SEC to the SEC championship? There's no way Alabama gets in that's four SEC teams that you can very easily make the argument that there are that It's better than them and that would be quite the thing to watch a 10 and 2 Alabama team Not making the CFP is not something I had on my bingo card But very well is something that could happen the way that things are shaking out right now This is the first time I feel like I've put a just a team on the winners and losers list But the organ ducks really won this weekend But not only because of what they did because I thought it was remarkably impressive We can talk about how incredible Illinois is we can talk about how impressive it was that they were six and one or not I don't necessarily care about that too much Illinois was able to keep the games close. That was what they did did really well They didn't make mistakes. They didn't turn the ball over They allowed you to play your game to a certain respect But they also were able to slow it down and make things confusing and make things hard It wasn't hard a little bit for Oregon on Saturday They ran through people literally no winnington ran through a man on Saturday And there were so many different things that Oregon did incredibly well and then around them You look around in Ohio State, do we really know how good they are going forward in Penn State? Do we really know where Drew Raller is going to be going forward and then outside of his conference He got Texas did not play great football this week or the past couple of weeks They have a bi-week to figure things out But if they come out flat against Florida, you gotta feel really good about you sitting above them Alabama's all over the place LSU's all over the place A&M There's still a question around that quarterback room So there's so many different things happening around the country that are questionable, that are worrisome, that are whatever The organ ducks are not handling any of those They're feeling really good about where they're at now As we know in the 2024 season, things can change in a hurry But as of right now, this organ ducks team is rolling right along through the number one team in the country And they very much deserve to be there Then we got the loser the Colorado haters are just having a tough year, man They're in a position where they're watching Dion in Colorado, not only win football games Because they're capable of winning football games in kind of gross ways Right, we've seen it before being able to just outshoot a team Shoulder Sanders, Travis Hunter just take over and that's the end of the day And you can still walk away from that game and say well, they got two great players But they're not that great of a team You can't walk away from these games saying that anymore Obviously Travis Hunter and Shadora Sanders are leading the way Frankly, the fact that Shadora Sanders isn't top five in most polls for the Heisman is outright insane But that's a different conversation for a different day But overall, I think it's one of those things that the Colorado program has changed Jurastically since Dion Sanders showed up And it's not something that really needs to be said because everyone understands But it's so hard to put into words what he has done for that community In that area of Boulder because the reality was they did not care about football They could care less what Colorado football was doing every single fall for a very, very long time Really since they left the big 12 There was not a lot of juice around that program There was not a lot of people that cared about that program too much Then Dion Sanders came in town and immediately the crowds got bigger Immediately the buy-in got more and in a world where you need money from the fans to succeed Buy-in is everything So there's going to be talk at the end of the year of him leaving I have no doubt about that I don't think he leaves He's been very, very steadfast in saying this is where I want to be He's recruiting high school at a much higher level And it's definitely something that I've talked about for a while I think it's something he needs to do as you move forward But at the end of the day, if you were to leave If you were to walk up out of the doors at the end of the year Maybe go to the NFL with a son like a lot of people have said Although I don't think that's all that likely Whether he goes to another school like Florida State, I don't know To me it doesn't necessarily matter What he's done in Boulder has totally changed that program forever We can talk about how it's going to be a little bit of a downturn after he leaves No doubt about that But he's done things that have totally changed the way that program is going to work going forward Because those fans regardless of it's Dion or not They've been shown their love for Colorado football again And that was something that needed to happen So I don't know what happens the rest of the way I don't know what happens with Dion after this season I do know that he has totally changed the culture around that program And he has totally changed the way that that program is seen around the country Which is really special In a couple of years it's something that I didn't think was going to be done I'll be totally honest I was one of those doubters at first But really like Dion cannot say enough about the job that he's done And hopefully they can keep it going and shock the world possibly And then the winner were the unforeseen undefeated teams Because this felt like a landmine week This felt like a week where a lot of things could go wrong You had BYU going on the road and being an underdog That I fell into the trap of a UCF pit had a game against Syracuse I picked Syracuse to win that game I thought it was going to be much closer than it was Indiana was playing a landmine spot against Washington Without their starting quarterback They all won They all just took care of business The way that they have all season And it's not that I want these teams to fall off I very much love seeing Indiana BYU pit And a lot of these other teams succeed It's just getting confusing We're getting in deep into the season And I'm having very hard time figuring out who is the best team Who is the worst team Who is the most deserving compared to the best And we'll get into that in the top 15 I've run into a bit of a dilemma in the top 15 That could create a lot of shifting around next week But we'll talk about that when we get there There's a lot of different things going on around these teams It's very weird, it's very confusing but man it's special Getting to see BYU, getting to see Indiana Get the love that they deserve In the season has been awesome I could argue that they're not getting enough love Including pit, especially pit But at the end of the day They're winning football games They're doing what they're supposed to do And they're very much in the fight for a CFP spot A loser is people looking for answers We talked about it in the segment before And obviously we have gotten some The big 12 helped us out just a little bit this past weekend LSU going down sets up a must-win game For both Alabama and LSU in a couple of weeks So we got some answers The reality is we're still sitting here With a lot of things to figure out Is Notre Dame going to be able to run the table And get into the fight? What a G5 team is going to do it Is Boise State going to stumble again And open the door for a team like Tulane Or maybe even team like Washington State All the way out there at 7-1 Or they're going to be total turmoil In the big 12 down the stretch Or is BYU and Iowa State going to handle business Kind of pull away from everyone Be undefeated at the end of the year So there's a lot of things going on I remember at the beginning of the season I made a prediction that there would be No undefeated power for teams I feel a little bit worse about that Right about now, I'll be totally honest But going back, I felt really good about that one I didn't think there was this big gap between people And there really isn't This big gap between people But you look at the football that BYU's playing You look at the football that Iowa is playing in Indiana And even Oregon up there It's going to be really hard to knock off these teams Now, we'll get one hand We might get one handled With Penn State this upcoming weekend But there's a lot of things That we're going to have to figure out the rest of the way And there could be a couple of undefeated teams right now That in two weeks, we've totally written off Maybe that pit team just stumbles in the next couple of weeks And we totally forget about them But at the end of the day, if you're looking for answers You're going to have to wait just a little bit longer In this college football season Miami's fans' blood pressure Has to feel great right about now Because this past weekend was the first one You didn't have to suffer a mild heart attack Watching your game Because you were able to handle business against a Vasily inferior team Which is just insane to say Around this game Just a total side point The fact that I'm saying Florida State Is the Vasily inferior team to Miami Is ridiculous And something that Florida State fans understand It's ridiculous I don't need to, you know, pour salt into the wound But at the end of the day, for Miami They got the thing that they've needed the entire year And the thing that is going to set themselves up For long-term success Possibly give them a shot To win a national title Run the football That is what you need to be able to do You're not going to be able to beat the Georges The Alabama's the Texas of the world Or the Ohio State's the organs of the world If you cannot run the football That's just a prerequisite To being able to beat these teams We saw it against Georgia and Texas That was the reason that Texas got totally torn to pieces Their offensive line did not play very well They couldn't get the run game going And when you have a quarterback That's not necessarily the most mobile in the world You need the run game going Um, so they put coin uers into really bad positions You didn't handle it well And that game got away from them And it's something that could happen to Cam Ward Probably deeper on in the season Once they face a team that's really a big time worry But at the end of the day They were able to handle things And that's kind of the biggest thing for this Miami team The last couple of weeks is just Handle your business Get up by a little bit Don't have to worry about any comeback Or anything crazy Run the ball to victory And that's exactly what they did I think I said yesterday That they had 130 yards rushing They had 230 yards rushing So it was a much better day on the ground Than I gave them credit for But finally Losers are the people that were bearing Alabama I'm not saying that Alabama is all the way back In fact, we'll talk about that a little bit later in the show But at the end of the day This was a tough week for a lot of those people Because I think they were hoping That Missouri would come in there Get a gritty win Totally bury this Alabama team And we wouldn't have to hear about them the rest of the way Now we get probably the marquee game of the week In a couple of weeks against LSU Because it is an elimination game in Death Valley at night So it's going to be really, really interesting to watch Again, like Miami They found the run game And they're going to have to continue to find it Throughout the rest of the way LSU, you should be able to run on Uh, other teams on that schedule Auburn's going to be a little bit tougher to run on So we'll figure out a lot more About this team as we head forward I'm so very skeptical of what they are going forward But as of right now You get that win in Baton Rouge You're off running And a lot of people are very upset Because Alabama still has a shot at the CFP But we are starting to go a little bit long on some of these segments So I'll try to speed it up just a little bit going forward But let's take our second break here And when we come back We're going to talk about all the games We just didn't have a chance to get to Throughout the first part of the week Uh, Arkansas gets a dominating win over Mississippi State Too Lane gets a win over North Texas That got the slightest bit sketchy Towards the end of the game Bowling Green continues to roll with Harold Finn And everyone around there And then we have a huge comeback That I just cannot fathom If I'm being totally honest But I'll break it down right after this Raise your hand if you feel really Represented in our Colorado State Legislature Yeah, that's what I thought Hey, it's Ross And I have no confidence that the people Under the Golden Dome Are routinely doing What's best for me and you For our families and neighbors And friends and colleagues Because our system For choosing and electing candidates Isn't functioning to benefit us It's functioning to benefit the system But there's something we can do about it And it's called Proposition 131 Prop 131 will let all voters Choose among all candidates Regardless of party For the state legislature Congress and most statewide races Except president With the top four Going on to the general election It gives us more options as voters And importantly It keeps party bosses From sticking us with bad options And as someone who wants to have true choices I have to say That I'm even more confident in my support For Prop 131 knowing That the party bosses on both sides Don't like it It takes power away from them Gives it to you and me Where it belongs For a better government vote yes On Prop 131 Paid for by yes on talked about the winners and the losers From this past weekend And they were quite a bit But I think the biggest winner Has to be the pocketbooks of all of the A&M boosters Cause even if they're paying Jim O'Fisher a little bit of money I think they feel more than fine Writing those checks right about now But let's get into a little bit of a week 9 whip around We had some big time G5 games That you guys are just gonna have to get updated on Because there's some big time implications Around those games going forward And we'll start with that Tulane North Texas game This is a very very funny game Because you turn them on Probably in the first quarter first half Tulane's dominating They were rolling all over them They were running the ball at will And frankly they almost top 300 yards rushing in this game On 47 carries Macai Hughes almost got to 200 yards This team was absolutely dominant on the ground And if you Listen to my breakdown to going into this game That was probably going to be the opening That they had North Texas defense was Is one of the very worst in the entire country And they took full advantage Dairy immense I just continued to step up And it Played really really good football He did not need to be special If you're going to be able to run the ball that way With Macai Hughes becoming One of the best running backs in the entire country 10 and 13 173 yards Three touchdowns and a pick Is going to do you plenty You're going to be more than fine If that's your uh If that's your stat line moving forward But this one was a little bit closer It ended a little bit closer And hurt one of my best bets from past weekend But that's okay This one was 14 points scored by uh North Texas in the final four minutes of the game Made this a little bit closer than it was But at the end of the day Two lane gets the way and they continue moving on And still a team to watch And that G5 power uh race If BYU loses or not Not BYU If Boise State loses one more time This might just be the team Lurking right there to take that spot And then Arkansas Just dominated Mississippi State And it was a game that I pegged As a kind of an upset alert I thought Mississippi State might be able to get it done It wasn't even close It was absolutely ugly And Taylor Greene is so much fun to watch He's not the perfect quarterback He does make his fair share of mistakes But he does have a game like this one 23 for 29 3 14 5 touchdowns passing 79 yards rushing in One of the most ridiculous scores On the ground that I've seen Because I don't know how the defensive lineman didn't get him But he found a way not to It was a Lamar Jackson type move And man, Taylor Greene is an absolute beast He's one of those guys that This Arkansas team Is really really dangerous going forward And it's because of the quarterback They've had injuries at running back They've had injuries at a number of different places Across this team But at the end of the day If that guy's on the field If number 10 is doing number 10 things You're gonna have a problem with Arkansas They got Ole Miss this upcoming weekend They got Texas later in the year They could easily be a CFP spoiler The rest of the way And that would be quite something to watch For Sam Pittman and the boys But this is a huge bounce back for Arkansas They needed this one very very badly Especially if they wanted to go bowling They needed this one And they played really solid football They're one of those teams That probably will be forgotten In the grand scheme of the season But this is a really impressive coaching job From Sam Pittman and his guys Over there Bobby Petrino coming in Getting this offense going It's been really really awesome to watch And definitely a team that Won't get necessarily the incredible amount Of respect at the end of the year That they probably should But definitely want to give them Some love right now Because this is a very very tough team In a year where I thought they could be one of the worst In the conference honestly And then Minnesota just took Maryland To the woodshed This was my best best bet of the week By far Because this one I felt very confident And Minnesota came through for me Because this one got ugly in a hurry Max Brosmer had his game That Minnesota fans have kind of Been waiting for in a certain respect For quite some time To be totally honest with you I don't know when the last time A Minnesota quarterback had Over 300 yards Pat Probably Tanner Morgan, actually Now that I think about it But beside the point He went 26 for 33, 324 touchdowns in this game It was a defense that could be attacked On the back end And boy were they They had Daniel Jackson and Elijah Spencer Both scored two touchdowns One had 99 yards receiving So I'll go ahead and bump him up to 100 Just to make him feel good But both nearing 100 on that day Remarkable performance From both those guys But the Big Ten is just one of those minefields There's so many different team Things that could go wrong For those top four teams Because Minnesota They have the ability to ruin Some schedules going forward I believe they have Penn State Still on the schedule I believe they still have I don't think they have a heart I can't remember Exactly off the top of my head Point is both these teams Especially Minnesota Could cause some problems The rest of the way And possibly thin out the top Of the Big Ten Just a little bit more Then we had Baylor get another win They found their way back to 500 on this year And they're playing really solid football And Sawyer Robertson Is a real reason for that Had 200 yards Three touchdowns Only one INT on the day Against the Oklahoma State team That is just not there One of the biggest disappointments At least in my mind In the entire country Frankly It's Florida State And then not too far behind Is Oklahoma State This is a team that Returned Oligord Returned everyone on the offensive line Returned their quarterback Had about three wide receivers Returning And did a lot on the defensive side To return those guys Nick Martin and Colin Oliver And it should have been a better team Just plain and simple I don't know how this happened I don't know how it unfolded Obviously Oligord has not been a big factor This year But man They really missed the mark this year In Baylor You find yourself back into the hunt You had a 343 on the ground In this game on 38 carries Four players over 50 yards rushing Pendergrat at Pendergrat Got over 142 A lot of things going right for this team And maybe they're the one That can play some spoiler Down the stretch of this season In the big 12 Because Run the football very efficiently You can win a lot of games You're not supposed to win And then we had a huge one Over in the mac And Bowling Green got a huge win Over here And Bowling Green was led By the guy that I think Should be winning the mac You award right about now Harold Van in junior Six reception 74 yards And a touchdown in this one I understand Tyler Warren Had the incredible game at USC You look down the stretch of the season Or the stretch of the games That Harold Van has had this season He's the best tight end in the country He has been absolutely remarkable And deserves so much more respect When we talk about best tight ends In the country But at the end of the day There's a big win that Keeps Bowling Green's hopes alive To win that mac conference There's still plenty in front of them With a Western Michigan game coming up That's going to be really tough I believe they also play Miami of Ohio So definitely a lot to walk With this Bowling Green team going forward But you got a lot of teams in front of them Miami of Ohio Bowling Green Or in front of Toledo Excuse me You have Miami of Ohio Ohio, Bowling Green and Western Michigan Going to be really tough For Toledo to find their way back into this fight And I think it's going to be Really really fun to do this Honest question I understand You're going to do predictions this week But let's just say My hypothetically My hurricanes don't get accepted To the big 10 So yeah, I think that's kind of an Interesting question Before the All the realignment stuff And all of the craziness That is going on around that The way that I'm reading it At least as of right now A lot of this stuff changes Very very quickly As you've probably found out Anthony throughout this time But I think they're looking For the big 10 in the SEC And I think the big 12 Is not enough of a draw For those two teams To jump ship and go there Now a lot of that could change Depending on the relationship Between the ACC And Miami in Clemson And possibly Miami Laid down the road But at the end of the day A lot of those teams That could see the ACC imploding I think the big 12 Is that break glass In case of emergency It is If the ACC is actively going down If we are watching it Kind of sink into the ocean That's when they'll get to the big 12 They're going to do everything They're going to push Every single button Overturn every single stone To find a way into those Two big conferences And frankly I think at some point It's going to break through Especially for a team like Miami I think they're going to be Actually in front of Work Florida State and Clemson Are right now So a team like Miami I feel pretty confident Could find their way Into those top two conferences I think everyone else in the ACC It'll be interesting To see how they kind of fan out Because it's common at some point Obviously we will talk about That plenty in the off season But as of right now That realignment stuff is a I don't want to say Frustered in to talk about Because obviously Always happy to talk about it But definitely one of those things That in the middle of the season Very hard to kind of wrap my head Around right now But I do think the big 12 Excuse me I do think the big 12 is an option For those teams I think it's the last ditch option If I had to imagine But we'll see how that develops Obviously a lot of things To happen around there And probably we'll start to happen Around December If I had to imagine But moving forward here West Virginia Got a big time win And the big story From here is Nico Mirachel is a dude This dude is awesome If you watch any of this game You saw That lefty gunslinger Just absolutely rip the ball I've talked There's a lot of guys That can throw a really really good ball There's a lot of guys That can throw with a lot of zip There's a lot of guys with energy This guy throws missiles He has a rocket launcher Connected to the left side of his torso Because the dude Is a lefty gunslinger And he absolutely rips the ball He's so much fun to watch When 18 for 22 One hundred and 98 yards Two touchdowns in this game This guy was really fun to watch And I think West Virginia Has found their quarterback Going forward Into 2025 Which has to feel Really really good On the Arizona side You got some thinking to do You made a higher You got rid of Or Jetfish left In very very bad circumstances Jetfish left And then you're putting a weird spot You have a T-Mac Leaving this upcoming year You hire Brent Brennan Who I think is a good coach I'm not necessarily Tearing Brent Brennan down After one year I am saying that Team Max walking out the door Nova feed is getting A ton of calls in the portal Including from his former head coach He nixed it this last off season But I'm not necessarily sure If he's going to be able to do it This year So it's something to watch around there Those they've teamed That I was worried about going into the year And man they've looked even worse Than I thought they would But for West Virginia Neither of these teams Are really going to get into the fight Into the big 12 Again they are the teams That could mess up the fight For a lot of the other teams In the big 12 But Confusing because you don't know How to trust Truly I totally agree I'm all types of loss Because there's so many different rumors There's so many different people Saying different things About you know Where other teams are going to go And some are rumors Some are reality Some are sources that are not named Some are sources that are named It's impossible To keep track of I will say One person to keep track of During this entire You know Craziness throughout everything Is Ross Delinger does a great job Over at Yahoo Sports He has Pretty much everything That you need to know About realignment And he is very very well sourced So If you are looking for a place to go To kind of get away From all the craziness on twitter That's probably a good guy to find Because he does a great job Brandon Marcelo Another one does a great job So There are people out there That will have actual sources But There are quite a few rumors going around And I promise you It'll ramp up As the rest of the season Kind of gets underway But Utah and Houston It was a very very weird game And it puts Utah in a very tough spot Because We're just talking about Arizona In the future of that program It's very likely That this is the last time Kyle Woodingham will be Utah's head coach And It's very likely And frankly I would be Very surprised if it wasn't That came rising leaves At the end of the year Brant Coothy is out the door Who had 100 yards Of the 173 yards That you had in this game This team is in a really weird spot This program is in a really weird spot And it's a program that Frankly Feels like they were standing on the Two best feet you possibly could Going into this year in the big 12 Now everything's just kind of up in the year I don't know where they go from After this year But This year's a disappointment One of the more disappointing years In the entire country And Obviously You know Losing Cam Ward has a big Big part in that But at the end of the day This is a tough team And I think I don't know if it's getting better in 2025 I'll be honest And then For Houston It's a game you needed to win It was a huge win for this program Because Although Utah's not the dominating team That we thought they were going to be It is Utah It is something that a lot of recruits Will look at and say Man they beat Utah on their home floor Especially from kids from Houston They might start looking at you Just a little bit more aggressively Down the stretch Which is absolutely huge for this program And then you got this one San Jose State Had a really good opportunity here If they were able to win this game They still have Boise State and UNLV On the schedule They could make some noise But at the end of the day They lose this one They put themselves In a really really tough spot Going forward But in this game Fresno State scored 33 unanswered points After a first minute touchdown From Nick Nash Who If you're not watching Nick Nash Over at San Jose State Do yourself a favor and go find him But And then It was just domination From Fresno State They got a field goal A very sad field goal From San Jose State to finish this game But overall A huge win for Fresno State San Jose State Still has Boise State and UNLV On the schedule So Possibly could create a little bit of a mess In the Mountain West going forward Two of these teams They feel like they're Behind Boise State and UNLV I feel pretty good That those are going to be the teams That are sitting at the top At the end of the day That being said Colorado State SDSU Still right in there as well So We'll talk about those teams Down the stretch A little bit more But Gonna be a weird finish In the Mountain West That could have a lot to do With the CFP And then we finally Gotta just touch on this game very quickly Totally trade a trail By 28 points at halftime in this game I don't know how you lose that game I don't know how you even remotely Come close to losing that game But UTSA They did it Defying all odds They found a way to do it They got out scored 39 to 10 In the second half They let up two touchdowns In the final 230 in this game It was ugly It was a terrible, terrible, terrible performance And told so on their final drive That they had to go 92 yards In a minute and one seconds Cooper Lagus got sacked And fumbled on his very first play of that drive They just went on to And I guess I believe it was eight plays So seven plays Essentially They went 92 yards in one minute It was absolutely insane This team just found a way to get it done It was one of the craziest results Of the entire college football season And I just had to touch on it there for a second Huge shout out to Tulsa UTSA Hopefully you can bounce back Because you got a pretty Interesting one this upcoming weekend But A lot of those games You know Not necessarily the biggest games of the weekend By any means But there's a couple of those teams there That will have factors In the CFP going forward San Jose State Could be kind of the spoiler Out there in the Mountain West And kind of ruined their fun To try to get a CFP bid But a lot of different things Happening around these different conferences And we'll obviously keep you updated With it on all fronts But let's take our third break here When we come back We gotta talk about the superlatives From this past weekend Biggest win of the week Individual performance of the week Statement of the week And so much more Right after this So stick with us Raise your hand if you feel really Represented in our Colorado state legislature Yeah, that's what I thought Hey, it's Ross And I have no confidence That the people Under the Golden Dome Are routinely doing What's best for me and you For our families And neighbors and friends and colleagues Because our system For choosing and electing candidates Isn't functioning to benefit us It's functioning to benefit The system But there's something we can do about it And it's called Proposition 131 Prop 131 will let all voters Choose among all candidates Regardless of party For the state legislature Congress and most statewide races Except president With the top four Going on to the general election It gives us more options as voters And importantly It keeps party bosses From sticking us with bad options And as someone who wants to have true choices I have to say That I'm even more confident In my support for Prop 131 Knowing that the party bosses On both sides don't like it It takes power away from them Gives it to you and me Where it belongs For a better government vote yes On Prop 131 Paid for by yes on 131 Own cloth registered to on yesterday's show Wanted to make sure you guys are fully up to date on those Because a lot of them would have a ton to do with the CFP playoff going forward But let's get into the Superlators for this past weekend Because there's quite a few of really really interesting ones I don't think this weekend was quite as A&M centric As a lot of people wanted to be I kind of wanted to spread the wealth just a little bit here Because they could dominate a lot of this And frankly They did get quite a bit of shine here But at the end of the day Wanted to highlight a lot of the other big time wins around the country And we'll start with the biggest win of the week Not necessarily the game of the week Not necessarily the blowout of the week Or anything like that Just the team that sent the biggest message Things The team that you know It's hard to describe A team that kind of did what they needed to do Earned respect Got a closer to the CFP However you interpret that There's a number of different ways to go about it But I think Oregon This one sounds a little bit crazy But the way that they went about business Against Illinois was really impressive to me And I'll talk about it here in a second But it was really really incredible Huge confidence booster for that team moving forward And I think it puts them in a position Where I don't know if anyone's really going to touch them The rest of the way in the Big Ten race Because The schedule they have coming forward No one should be able to touch them Obviously this thing could get crazy But at the end of the day They're playing elite football And they really planted their fag this past weekend Then you had an Indiana team That played really really good football In very bad circumstances Curtis Work not playing in this game Is one of those things that you feel like An undefeated team playing really good football But the offense has been kind of carrying the weight Wait for a lot of the season Losing your starting quarterback Could things go awry It didn't at all They were able to handle business Really go about it really efficiently D'Angelo Ponce and the absolute star in the making They're doing incredible things out there And I think It's one of those teams that Just continues to become a little bit more like reality Of them being in the CFP But the winner to me Is bought as Boise State This is a win that is Maybe bigger than any other one this past weekend Because they put themselves Not only in the driver's seat But very firmly in the driver's seat For the CFP G5 spot Because I'll be totally honest I don't want to say that I think an undefeated army would get in But at the end of the day Let's say Notre Dame does beat army There's no chance It's not going to be Boise State If they go out When the rest of their games Go 12 in 1 Have Ash and Jeannie leading the way They will be the team I can promise you that But at the end of the day Still plenty to figure out here But I do think Boise State Got the win that they very badly needed And they knew They very badly needed at the beginning of the season And then we got individual performance of the week And if I'm talking about individual performances You're talking about Travis Hunter This guy was remarkable He had a career high 153 yards receiving Two scores And then he had four pass breakups on the other side He only played I believe Three snaps off It's insane It's one of those things that every single week I think I'm going to be a little bit more Tamed to it I think I'm going to be a little bit more understanding of it Or at least let it roll off my back And every time my mouth drops open I don't get it I don't get how he does it I don't even understand how he practices Throughout the week And then does that But at the end of the day He is a different human He is a different person He is an alien So he's going to do him He's incredible And I cannot wait to see what he can do the rest of the way And then we got to give some love to Bo Pribla Because man that was a tough spot to be put into You're coming into a place where Camp Randall at night is a atmosphere It is one of those places that Will eat some of these guys for dinner and spit them out But he was able to handle it 11 for 13, 98 yards One touchdown and then full control of this offense It was really incredible to watch Him and Andy Kotalnicki Feel like a very very good fit, honestly But I'm not saying they're going to change quarterbacks by any means But it felt like a very very good fit And man did he execute a really really high level Marcell reads the winner I don't think this has to be talked about too much There are plenty of guys that put up crazy stats And there are plenty of guys that did incredible things No doubt about that When you walk into that energy When you walk into that atmosphere And totally change that building In a play Essentially because he walked onto the field Scored on his very first play This entire thing changed The entire game changed The entire season changed for AM When he walked onto the field He went 2 for 2 in passing game 70 yards passing Including that big one over the top to Noah Thomas 9 carries 62 yards, 3 touchdowns The dupe was in full control It's not going to be you know The gaudy stats that everyone loves to see But at the end of the day He was remarkable And he was one of those guys That was put in a really tough spot And responded As well as you could possibly could have imagined He would respond But moving forward to statement of the week We're going to stay right in college station Because that was a very big statement No doubt about that Because There's been so many years Where AM's played good football to start the season We have seen this time and again It's always October It's always October is the one Where you lose 2 or 3 games Things start to go awry And you end 8 and 4 And things go really really terrible This was not that You want a game going into November Over a top 10 team at home And you put yourself in a position To very well make the CFP Make the SEC title game And be a team that Is going to be a problem for the rest of the way And really for quite some time to come So this wasn't a dead cap balance Where you beat Alabama A couple of years ago In that stadium Great, great moment You were also 0 and 2 Walking into that game in conference play You finished 8 and 4 This is an arrival This is totally different Than that game against Bama The Bama game was cool The Bama game was an awesome moment This was the moment For AM And then for Notre Dame I think this was a huge statement for them I think it was one of those teams That a lot of people were poking holes in And frankly, I still have holes to poke And Navy did a Rather good job of handing them that game In a lot of ways But at the end of the day They are very firmly where they need to be And continue on that quest For a CFP spot Because it was a really dominating performance That defense flies around And Riley Leonard throwing the ball with confidence Is a very interesting thing For this program going forward BYU is my winner I think this was one of those games That even I picked UCF Like NIDI it But at the end of the day The magic would be Oh excuse me I thought the magic of the BYU Cougars Just had to come to an end at some point It's no longer magic I will argue It was magic early on in the year There were a lot of turnovers There were a lot of things That were just bouncing their direction And finding a way to get them wins It's no longer that They're playing really really good football This team is awesome in They do the thing that Not a lot of people around the country Are doing consistently winning football games And then we got the loser of the week And yes that is Ohio State They did win the game But man they lost this week I don't know where they are I don't know what this team is going forward I don't know how much they can do I don't know if they can win a national title I don't know if they can win this weekend against Penn State There is so much confusion Around this program going forward I don't want to Yeah I will say program actually Because you lose this week in a Penn State Ryan Day is getting kicked out the door And you're having to restart So this program is in a weird spot going forward But as of right now Obviously you still have everything in your hands You still got that win So not the biggest loser of the week But a lot of things to figure out in Columbus That I don't think they were Thinking that they would have to figure out this year LSU has to be included on here Obviously the chance was there To take over the SEC To give yourself some wiggle room down the stretch And essentially punch your ticket to the CFP And the second half was just terrible And frankly I think there could be a lot of talk about Brian Kelly And making a half-time adjustments And all of that type of stuff Reality was There wasn't too many adjustments to make You make those two field goals You're up 16 points You're feeling really good About the way you're going about business I think it was just A&M Making all the adjustments in the world And really executing at a very high level So I'm not at all in LSU by any means But I do think that was a moment Where you had a chance to really take that next step You left it on the table But the loser of the weekend is the Florida State Seminoles As it has been for You could argue pretty much every week this season But let's be honest You went from a 13 in the team A team that frankly I said And I probably will continue to say Deserve to be in the CFP Doesn't matter You went one and seven the following year And now It doesn't matter how many times you get to say That we deserve to be there We Alabama shouldn't got in Whatever you want to say Does not matter You lost And this is a very very Indicative performance of why They probably were right to keep you out Now I wouldn't necessarily say that I think there's a lot more at play here But at the end of the day One and seven out of the Bull eligibility before even November Is not remotely Where Florida State thought they would be this year Moving on to surprise of the week I think the Ohio State struggles Were very surprising to me They're a very weird team They're one of those guys that Just feels like they're kind of stuck in the mud right now Whether it's the run game Or the past game not getting going enough Or the defense Maybe having a couple more holes against Oregon Than we thought they would Just feels like they haven't brought it all together It feels like they have All of these remarkably talented units And all of these remarkably talented players And they're not playing as 22 guys together They're not playing as 11 guys together On the field at the same time There's so many different things That they're going to have to figure out And it's one of those things That I'm going to give them the better For the doubt for the right at the time being But a lot of things can change In the next couple of weeks Around Ohio State 4 The next 5 years 10 years for Ohio State A&M's turnaround was another big surprise to me And it's not necessarily taking anything away From A&M or what they're capable of It was more just LSU Looked like they were just flowing in the first half It looked like a lot of things could have gone wrong And they still were going to be able to win that game Because they were in full control They weren't necessarily running the ball All that effectively Which came back to bite them But Garrett Nussmeyer was absolutely Ripping the ball all around the field He was doing everything you possibly could have wanted And then it was just like a coin flip In the second half It was everything was totally different for that team And A&M had a lot to do with that I think LSU made their fair share of mistakes Don't get me wrong But at the end of the day I think A&M's adjustments Were really the reason they won that Not necessarily LSU just Not making adjustments Or not doing the things they needed to do And then you had Oregon's dominance That was my surprise of the week Not necessarily because I think Oregon's bad or anything like that But the reality was The way that they went about business In this game Is totally indicative of what this team is going forward It's indicative of who Dan Lanning is It's indicative of what they've been trying to build For quite some time A tough, hard-nosed team That's coached by a really tough coach And Bert Belemma Came into your stadium And you bullied them You absolutely punked them And as you can see from Noah Whittington He's just getting through Running through a guy's face So they did a lot of punishing In this game And I think it was one of those games Where I felt good That they were going to be able to win this one I didn't think they were going to win it that way And that's the biggest thing to me Just the outright dominance At the point of attack is incredible For me From Oregon right about now And then finally game of the week I'm going to add Texas Vandy in here This was a weird bazaar But kind of really fun game You know Texas Led Vandy back into the game A couple of times Vandy took full advantage of the mistakes As they do I think this is a game where It wasn't necessarily Top to bottom, incredible And like all over the place Play making all over the place But it was one of those that came down to the wire Against all odds It had a lot of that college football feel Where somehow The team finds their way back into the hunt After being Essentially should have been Dead in a number of different ways So Texas has quite a few things to figure out As we've talked about But we'll see what happens over this by week And then for BYU UNLV This was a really fun Friday night game It felt like two teams that Knew what this moment was They were playing really really aggressively Especially on the defensive side of the ball Was incredibly impressed With all of those guys On both sides of the ball Elite talent all over the place Ash and Jainty leading the way in Obviously with him finishing it off It just a little bit of cherry On the on top of the Sunday there But The game of the week was SMU Duke And it was the weirdest game That you possibly could have imagined When SMU turns over the ball Six times in a game You don't expect them to win But somehow Duke made it happen But it was one of those games That it's just college football Someone turns the ball over six times And wins a game They block a field goal to force over time They have a number of different things go wrong And they find a way to get it done That's college football in a nutshell So that is the game of the week for me There's a number of other games That were incredible But at the end of the day That's the one that I like the most It was so many incredible things From this past week And another superlative is just All of the special teams coaches out there Cause y'all were in your bag this past weekend I don't know how many fake field goals that I saw But a lot of them were beautifully executed So really incredible to watch that unfold But at the end of the day Let's take our last break here And when we come back We gotta talk about my top 15 teams in the country We are expanding from 12 to 15 Give you guys an idea of where my bubble sits right about now But let's get into this Cause it's a dilemma for me going forward And I'll break it down right after this Raise your hand if you feel really Represented in our Colorado state legislature Yeah that's what I thought Hey it's Ross And I have no confidence that the people Under the Golden Dome Are routinely doing What's best for me and you For our families And neighbors and friends and colleagues Because our system For choosing and electing candidates Isn't functioning to this past weekend game of the week for me was SMU Duke It was just weird enough just college football enough for me to be into it But at the end of the day let's get into my top 15 Tuesday It is one that I kind of wanted to expand just a little bit to kind of those bubble teams If you will there's obviously a lot of you know Auto bids and things that will get involved in this through the stretch But wanted to give you guys an idea of where A couple of the teams that are just right on the outside looking in Sit right about now And I think there's one team on here or one team not on here That is going to be really interesting and I'll break that one down throughout it But let's get into the 15 and I think Boise State deserves to be here I think there's a number of reasons to say you know maybe Alabama is a better team Maybe a couple other teams are quote-unquote a better team This is the team that's in the driver's seat for the CFP This is the team that went up to Eugene only lost by three This is the team that just beat a UNLV team that very well could have beaten them So I have very little problem with this I think they absolutely deserve to be in the top 15 And they're a team that if Ash and Jainty is going to be doing the thing That he's going to be doing the rest of the way It's going to be a really hard team to beat and they firmly will find themselves in the CFP This is my top ranked power five team right now Or a group of five team right now So they would be the bid into the CFP as of right now And they're playing just really really good football So I don't want to necessarily I didn't want to make a top 15 without any group of five teams in it Because first of all I think Boise State deserves to be here But more than anything Wanted to give you guys an idea of what that team would be In the in the 12 team playoff if I were to make it today I have LSU at 14 And I think this is one that could get a couple of people up in arms A couple of people have dropped them a little bit deeper I believe the AP has them at 16 I think they're a better team than we're giving them credit for I think they got blitzed on Saturday And obviously not a great thing to happen Not no doubt about that But let's just be totally honest You have a quarterback change at halftime And a lot of things go wrong And you got to be better than that No doubt But it's one game You're able to bounce back If you win that Bami game You get into a 10 into position Obviously we've talked about That can be a little bit sketchy of a position right about now But this is still a very capable team I still think they're making strides on defense Although they got caught off guard this past weekend I still think they deserve to be a top 15 team This is one of those teams that took the Alabama spot I thought about putting Alabama here I dropped them out of this top 15 And I did it just plainly because I saw what I saw on Saturday I don't know if that's replicable I think Missouri is one of those teams That you can take advantage of on the ground I don't think a lot of the teams coming forward They're going to be able to do it to the same degree So I still am very worried about Alabama That would be the team that would be here But I think LSU is just that touch better So I'm going to go with LSU here And Alabama is probably sitting at that 16 spot, if you will But BYU, I have a 13 And it's one that I want to rank them higher I'm getting into a point of the season Where I'm getting worried That I'm putting a little bit too much stock Into what I think these teams should be And not what they have done And I try my best to avoid that as best I can There could be a massive switch Next week where I just go fully off What you did this year I'm not focusing anything On what I think the team is Or how talented I think the team is That could be a flip that happens next week So be on the lookout for that But as of right now I think BYU being 13 is relatively fair They've been playing really good football I still think some of the things Some of the ways that they're winning these football games Are a little bit unsustainable But they've sustained it for eight weeks So who am I to say that they're not sustainable They're playing really good football And definitely deserve to be At least in the conversation for that CFP spot Then you got Notre Dame Very much a team that has played Really good football the last couple of weeks I think this is a big performance for me this last weekend I understand Navy kind of handed the ball away A couple of times did not play clean football And let Notre Dame in a lot of ways Get that big time margin But at the end of the day They're finding their way on offense And that's the biggest thing for me I needed to see Not only Riley Leonard hit 200 yards passing Not only Riley Leonard complete 70% of his passes I needed to see him just step into a throw And absolutely rip it I needed to see him step into a throw And not second guess for a second Just absolutely tear the ball down field He did that a ton in this game It was very very fun to watch And I think it's one of those things That for pretty much all of last year Sam Hartman was not necessarily as willing to do If you unlock that part of the game If you get a very confident throwing in the football Riley Leonard Things get a little bit more interesting For this Notre Dame team So that's probably why they bump up a little bit I think you could argue be why you should be above them And I had a really hard time I'll just play it at that But I do think Notre Dame's my number 12 team Right about now And then Iowa State They stay Pat at number 11 And they're quietly a very undefeated team Out there in the big 12 I think they're a really really good team I think their offense Hasn't necessarily even found himself yet I think they're going to be an absolute force Down the stretch of the season And it's going to be just impossible to deal with For a vast majority of everyone around the country So it's going to be incredible to watch that one unfold And this is a team that I really really like Down the stretch Tennessee is a team that I fought myself on I thought about dropping them a little bit more But when I look at that defense I just can't They're a team that if you're going to have that defense If you're going to have the ability Hypothetically to run the ball The way with Dylan Sampson They have been You're going to be really successful You're going to be able to win a lot of games They have to play better football When they go down to Athens, Georgia But at the time being They're playing really good football They're definitely a top 10 team They're definitely in a position to Make a run at the CFP I worry that they're not quite on the level That they need to be To beat that Georgia team And to get to the SEC Championship And the CFP But as of right now It's hard to necessarily poke too many holes In this team Got to get loved to the Indiana Hoosiers This was a huge, huge win It was one of those wins because We've seen this before We've seen undefeated teams That have been a little bit out of left field They've played really good football For six, seven, eight weeks And then something happens You know, whether it's an injury To a star wide receiver Or a quarterback Or a, you know I'd coach wouldn't get fired But something happens In that program Where things go a little bit awry This was a huge one Curtis work walking out of that game Totally changed that offense And they were able to handle business They were able to go about their business Pretty comfortably And the defense stepped up in a huge way And they did incredible, incredible things This past weekend And really proved to me that This is not necessarily just An Indiana team That's having a good time right now This is an Indiana team That very much As a CFP contender going forward And then we got Clemson to date This continues to be the team That I'm a little bit higher on the most It feels like But they're as talented As a lot of the teams Up at the top That we're talking about As national title contenders And they were firmly In the driver's seat For the ACC title Barring a slip at pit They'll be able to get there And be firmly In a position to make the CFP So I really like what this team's doing I think that defense Is one of the more underrated units In the country And then we have another defense That I think is one of the more Underrated units in the country A&M That defense is just ridiculous They're one of the very best In the entire country And it feels like they're treated as I don't want to say gimmicky But just not necessarily the elite level That I think they've been playing They're absolutely all over the field They got after Garrett Nussmeyer When absolutely no one else on earth Could have And they got a couple of picks In them big time moments So this A&M team continues to rise The worry that I do have Is that quarterback position What happens this upcoming weekend When you know that Marcel Reed Is going to be the quarterback Will be something to watch But at the end of the day When you have that defense And all those athletes that they have It's a hard unit to beat There's no doubt about that Texas is one that I thought about Dropping a little bit further I'll be totally honest There is some online issues on that team That I don't really know where they came from There was a lot of dominance Early on in the year And it wasn't like They didn't play the elite offenses No doubt about that And they didn't necessarily play elite defenses Across the board What they did play is a really good unit Up there at Michigan What they did play Was a unit at Oklahoma That can cause problems They were able to handle both of those groups And the O line has not been good The rest of the way Queen Eure is one of those guys That a lot of people are tearing Them down for the performance this past weekend If you watch that tape And come away with the It's Queen Eure's fault I don't know what to tell you I don't want to say you don't know football But just don't talk to me about football Respectfully Because that's not remotely what happened Both balls got tipped There was not a lot of good play From the offensive line And the moments that he needed it It was one of those things That I think when Eure's is fine And I think a lot of the issues That they have Can be fixed in the bi-week But as of right now If that's the O line you're moving forward with No chance You're making the CFP No chance you're going into the college station And not getting torn to pieces And then we got Miami At number five This is a team that gets a little bit of a bump Because they did the thing That I've just been begging them to do First the entirety of the seat Well not the entirety of the season But for the last little bit I've just been begging them To get a boring win To run the ball To play defense To do your thing Not have came Ward be a superhero And that's exactly what they did I absolutely love to see it A team that very much deserves some love And I was a little hesitant To bump them over Texas The last couple of weeks Just because Of some of the issues And some of the you know Close calls that they've had I still think they're very very closely tight But I do think Miami did just enough This past weekend To bump above the Longhorns Ohio State is a team That I'm giving the benefit of the doubt For now And that would change very very quickly This upcoming see This upcoming weekend If they were to lose But at the end of the day This is a team that is very very talented This is a team that handled business This is a team that has played Really good football I think at Oregon They could take that game from Oregon And beat 95-99% of the teams in the country But at the end of the day You're playing a Penn State team This upcoming weekend Where you got to get the win If you don't get the win Then a lot of things go awry And I can promise you That this number four position Will not be where Ohio State is Frankly I kind of had to talk myself into this one I didn't want to move them down too far I didn't want to bury them by any means But I got some worries And definitely They could even move down with a win at Penn State As crazy as that sounds I think if they don't necessarily Win in dominating fashion If Penn State hands them a couple opportunities Especially if Drew Aller's not playing It's a team that I'm very worried about I'll put it that way And I think I'm just I'm putting him at number four right now I'm giving the benefit of the doubt right now But a lot of things could change This upcoming weekend Penn State kind of a weird team Right about now I think this last weekend Really to me Was probably the most impressive win Of Penn State's year It was one of those wins Where you're down at halftime You're in a tough environment And then you just get punched in the face One more time with Drew Aller going down They were able to handle it That's absolutely huge for this team And I think the biggest thing is It's a huge difference Between last year and this year When it comes to coaching staff They made all the changes They needed to make And did a really really good job in this game Georgia at two They were stagnant this past weekend So they were just kind of hanging out But the reality is We saw what happened in Austin A couple of weeks ago If that's the D line you have going forward Certified title contender And frankly I think they're going to find the offense At some point And that's downright terrifying For everyone involved in Georgia But they have huge games against Ole Miss And Tennessee coming up After that Florida game this weekend But at the end of the day This team's playing really elite football Still plenty of hurdles to get over But definitely one of the top two teams in the country And then he got number one I don't think much has to be said here They definitely proved this past weekend That they were deserving Of that top team in the country Monicker and were awesome On both sides of the football They are the standard right about now I think a lot of things Should change in a hurry If Ohio State gets a dominating win This upcoming weekend They're right back up there with you So it's a lot of confusion going on right now A lot of teams that I just can't get a beat on I'm trying my best to figure out Who's better than who And trying to reward Indiana As much as I can Trying to reward Teams like Pitt And teams like BYU As much as I can But there's only so far I can go There's only so far I can go Until I get to the Oregon So I get to the Ohio States And Texas and Texas A&M And Tennessee's And I have to say Are they really beating that team But at the end of the day There could be a huge calibration for me Because I'm getting to that point of the season Where I feel like I'm putting A little bit too much projection on it Not quite enough What happened in the past on it So you could see an entirely different top 15 I can almost promise Oregon's going to be number one But you could see an entirely different top 15 Next week I'm starting to get a little bit impatient With some of these teams That aren't playing elite football week over week But we'll get there We'll definitely break that down next week But that'll do it For this edition This long edition I'm really going long The last couple of days Appreciate everyone listening For as long as this is But that'll do it For this edition of the GSMC College football podcast Brought to you by the GSMC sports network Your support means a lot to us So please
