It's a gloomy day at about six o'clock, I think, or 5.30 whenever the game ended. It's continued on. Even it was a little bit nicer yesterday, continued on. Up until today, obviously, I think Matt Rule had his presser. We got a short segment here, but I will tell you what, that if I was a coach, I wouldn't be saying, I would be like Bill Belichick. I would be like Bill Belichick. I don't know where, I think it probably was, it all started when I asked Marcus Satterfield about the yards per play. I can tell you, I was essentially a coach when I played Stention of the Coach. I couldn't regurgitate to you, except for just the basics. I'm going to have under 3.5 yards to carry 17 points a game. We only, we want to give up like four or less explosive plays. And anything after that, I don't really give a dang. You know, now that caught fire. Now this where you're having some extra eyes come in. I'm going to just burst everybody's bubble happens all the time. Just to let you know, it happens all the time, all the time in the pros. When we were winning in Buffalo and going to the playoffs. And still the weight had some of his like coaching guys that are maybe trying to get back into it. What you need to understand also now, not mind you. With the way the offense has been playing, if there's people looking at the offense, then, you know, there might be a little bit more meat to the bones. And I think I didn't listen to it, but obviously Matt Roemus made reference to it to maybe look at and see, you know, get some tips. But ultimately, there's also coaches that go around and visit places so they can get back in the game, kind of be relevant, pick up some new ideas. If you don't really think so, Brett Bilema took the job at Arkansas, got let go at Arkansas, went around for a year, hooked up with the Patriots. Obviously then got the Illinois job. He felt like he had to go around and learn how to how to block and welcome the RPO game, which obviously, see, we saw it on display. So really, you know, right now, you know, you could look at, you know, of course, that everybody should be frustrated, right? The fans should be frustrated. Alumni should be frustrated. I don't know what do they call it? Are they sponsors a donor, whatever the sponsors, donors, NIL guys, they should be frustrated. Coaches need to be frustrated. The administrators need to be frustrated. Players need to be frustrated or disappointed in a plethora of. You know, no, Eric, I never got coach out of Brian cushion. I was before him, but, you know, like, so everybody should be afraid. The emotions should be there. It should be wrong because you disappointed yourself and, you know, disappointed other people, right? The only way like everybody can talk about the place and that's great. That in, you know, should you, I'm assuming that the coaches will tell you that they could call better plays and both offense, defense, specialty. Every coach will tell you that. And there is factual stuff that all with that, that call and that situation. Regardless of the execution, the theory, right? That can go around all the time, but I'm just letting everybody know this is the truth. I know plenty of people have been on here talking about you need to do this and you do that. Nobody's talking about the execution of any play. Your job as a player right now as it has nothing to do with coaching. Your job is to execute those plays so to a higher percent in efficiency right now to make it legit to question the play calling and the coaches. Right now you're not, you're not there. I'm just telling you, you're not competent enough. What's competent mean? It means that you can do something over and over and over to where it looks great. What is competent take? It takes a lot of time. You're going to get set back. What you can't do when you're trying to be confident is look at what somebody else is doing. So don't be dumb enough to look at what Indiana is doing because you ain't Indiana. You ain't just come here from from winning national championships, even instead of one at FCS. You ain't do that. You've been here. You built this thing. It's been burned down, trying to be built up, burned back down. He tried to build it back up. So you need to take some ownership of it. Now we can talk into the philosophies and all that stuff, but until the execution becomes your number one priority, how you or I so we can play better. You're going to be spending your wheels, man. And I hate to say it to burst people's bubble because if you ain't executing, I can also look at see what your effort. Do you? Are you really invested in trying to get it physical? I mean, that's all there is to it. There's plenty of plenty of blame to go around, but how much I mean, at one point in time, I would ask, I want, when are you going to get tired of like blaming coaches? Like coaches ain't controlling you out there. If you supposed to like it, coaches ain't controlling. You can run it up there, getting blocked purposely. I've watched the tape. You in it right now, what I would do, this is me. And obviously I'm not the coach for what I would do is I would crank up. The intensity to a whole new level that they've never seen before. I want to see who can operate being uncomfortable. I don't care where you're from. I don't care what your star ranking is. I were at this point, I really don't care how much money you make because the money's already there. Like you are like, okay, November, if you get paid to December, you're getting, you only got one more month to pay. I'm assuming it, right? So money's already there. Right now, I want to see who can handle this being uncomfortable. And it's not personal. Why Harrison, you shaking here? You want to know why? Some of some guys are the way too comfortable. So I'm just going to make it uncomfortable. I'm going to make it real uncomfortable, real uncomfortable. And I'm going to turn this down. I'm going to crank this intensity up in this heat up so high. Like my, one of my favorite candies is Jolly Rancher until I had to get a tooth and I had to disobeyed the dentist. In my, in my, I had a, I had a post in there tooth came out. So I can't do it. You know, you made Jolly Ranchers, you crank that intensity up, up so high. Okay. And then you drop it in the cold water and then it becomes a Jolly Rancher. So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to crank this bad boy up because right now. Not being that intent that type of uncomfortable. We're five and four. We haven't reached anybody's expectation. Hey, man, we got three games left. Right. But this is where you're, this is what you'll talk about more than actually in the middle of the season because, you know, if you, if you play well down the stretch, they'll be like, oh, that was just a learning lesson. Right. It's a part of the process with a bi-week was good and all that, right? Okay. We're just going to crank this bad boy up. We're going to pucker those sprinkler muscles up real tight. And it's not just the players here. So this isn't just pointing. It's going both ways. Right. There ain't no vacation this week is bi-week that we talked about on Sunday. All right. What does, what does cranking up the pressure mean? What does it look like? You really want to know? Yeah. I mean, this is the conversation. Look, I mean, do you really want to know? No, I mean, yeah, I mean, you're, you're, you're the Hall of Famer. You listen, man, I'm here as we say, in this business, we are in an entertaining. We're either performing or informing. Well, what we can get to the informing part, because the reality is you have a, a vantage in perspective that 99.9% of the people in, in, in Lincoln don't have. Sure. All right. So you have the ability to speak in full honesty about what you see. Right. And then what about what you want to see? Yeah. I mean, I just watched the game and it's because I've made every mistake they've made. You know what I mean? I've been in those positions and as the players, whether you're a young player, just trying to find your footing. I've been an established player or a sending player. I've been a captain. I've played in the, obviously in the NFL where you had to essentially be a grunt. So I've been on the, you know, I wasn't ever on the practice squad. But, you know, I had to wait my turn. I had to take advantage of my opportunity. I had to compete for a job after I did well. I had to go into a whole new place that are necessary. Then I've been in every situation they've been in. There you have it, bet $5 to get $150 in bonus bets and see why. It's never ordinary at Bet365. Gambling problem, collar text 1-800-Gambler, 21+ only. Must be physically located in Colorado. Terms and conditions apply. And it's not going to change because it's football, it's football. But this is everything right here. We are straight, we are business right now. I always say playing football is fun when you win. I mean, that's honestly got true. We're not here to be buddies. You know what I'm saying? We're friends, but we're buddies when we're breaking bread at the training table. We're here. You play football. This is not a nice game. And number one, I'm changing the intensity level. There should be never, ever, ever a team come in here and try to push you around, dude. Like after the play and all that. They should never, it shouldn't even cross their mind. And this isn't even getting personal fouls and doing all the jibber jabber. And you put guys on the ground, he ain't thinking about that. He's not thinking about that. That was a purposeful act by them that they were chest in your manhood. Does Nebraska, does Nebraska's football team know what that is supposed to look like? Do they know? We always talk dominant position playing football from a dominant position. I think they know first, first strike football. Yeah. We talk about, and then Jay becomes the thing that Jay knows there's certain people that when he walks up on, he has to have beat chest out chin up ready from the moment on. Sure. There are people that can sneak and get him. He'll have an answer for that. But the reality is, Nebraska football, as it currently stands, is surrounded by people who enable. Yeah. Is that a fair statement? What does, I mean, what do you mean by that? If you're in a dogfight for your job, for your reputation, for the, for the, for the end on the hill, from day one, as your Uncle Blood would say, if I'm born ready, I still have to get ready. Yeah. I didn't know what you got. I think, I think it's multitude of things, and I don't, and I think it's a, I don't think it's a very hard fix. I really don't. And this is the honest. It got true. It's an easy, I would say this, it's, it's an easy fix because I, like, I think I, and I know Matt knows the answer. Right. And he's probably very calculated. And I understand, look, it's commendable. You don't want to put the players on the bus, but he kind of told you a lot. We got to start playing. Like you got everything you need. This is a relationship, dude. You got to love this game. You got to, you know, I guess I could say, I mean, I could, well, it's going to be two hours. I mean, I could say, listen, there's a, I can watch a game and I can point out the players that are playing football. And the other ones that are competing, like, and I don't pull, I don't ever pull this Hall of Fame card. I don't do it because I, I played with guys like that. We've had, I told you, we had guys on on our team like that. And there is a distinct difference. And I think like back to your point, how do you do it? Like everything is all business. Yes, we can laugh and joke, but listen, when we step on this field, dude, there is no stone on turn. When I, when I say I want you to run to the ball, okay, you get what I'm saying? I'm not joking. You get what I'm saying? If I want you to thud and I want you to run your feet, if I want you to, I mean, we got to finish every block. We got a within reason. We got to finish every, every, every like drill. We got to do everything to more intensity and that's got to be self driven. Don't just do it because you think I'm watching, right? Do it because that's what you want to do. And that's what you've been coaching and supposed to do. And don't just do it once when I'm watching. You know what I mean? Don't, don't let, like, if I'm a coach and I'm talking to you or whatever. And then I got to turn on a tape and then you back to like, you know, glide mode. And right now every day, like I would do it like, listen, I remember we were going to play the festival. Tio said, I mean, pretty much, I know he was trying to talk to me or whatever, every position is open. I started them 12 games. He was my language. Turn on the team and tackles and they want to put your mail in there. Okay. Well, then let's go. You know, that's got to be the mentality. You see, you hear his voice change, like he went, he went, Jay went all the way back. Like it got personal. Listen, listen, right now I'm, I got to challenge you though. So that's the answer. I'm challenged. That's where I am. I am. I am challenging you right now. And if you can't handle it, that's not a J problem. You get what I'm saying? That's where I wanted it to go because we are, you're, you're in week 11, right? You've played nine games, but you're in week 11. You've got a buy. Oh, sure. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Two five weeks. None of us. Yeah. And the state, as the tech said, everything's either taught or allowed. And yeah, I don't think that if we set the tone, I guarantee this, any lie back in the plate under Jay Foreman was going to be ready in week one. Sure, but I will tell you this, if I'm the coach, the players have to have to take what I'm teaching them and they got to own it. That's why, like, that's why the guys that are leaders, both if you're, if it's, if all the leaders are on defense, well, then let guess what I'm pouring over there, then I'm watching you practice. You know what I'm saying? If the leaders are on offense, you know what I'm saying? Then we watching the defense and then we're both watching the special team and we're both leading that way. That's why we, we've asked for at least eight consecutive weeks. I've asked you, who's leading this team? Well, I think like, I mean, I know they got leaders like Ty and Jamari and all them, but you know what? I think, you know, they got to just, you got to be more demanded. Everybody, you got to demand more of yourself. You got to demand the more of your, of your teammates, of your backup players, of the practice squad players, demand more of the coach. Players just got to demand, and then it's got to be what we can do. It's actually a call to action. All the talking's done, right? And we, yes, we haven't lived up to our, to our expectations. We let some games slip, and that's what happens when you have a lot of parity in college football. The UCLA team that came in here is not the team that played the first four or five games. That's, that's the honest that got truth. You're playing a completely different version of them. They've been in highly competitive games, always to the third and fourth quarter. They just finished. They just learned how to finish. They've walked the ball down, and you know, you got an NFL head coach as your, as your offensive coordinator, you know, their first two series are going to be good. So you got to deal with that. So they, and they did, they've done that to everybody. This is not just Nebraska. Okay. They did it to everybody. So, and then, and then also you got to get a credit, the defense made adjustments, and then continue to essentially batten down the hatches, right? So there is some positive there, but when you want to get past this threshold, right? That's when the friction has to crank up. It just has to. It's got to be because it, because I got to challenge you, and I, and I expect pushback, right? Because it's not just one way. This is a relationship, relationship player to coach, coach to player, and player, coach to the game of football, it's always back and forth, and it's always friction. I live by the mantra that friction is required for growth to happen. And it's not personal. But we also have to understand when that friction is created and why. And you, and sometimes you have to recreate it. Right. So the refriction that we've got right now is essentially got us right where at five and four. So now we got to, now we got to like reinvent the friction, but now we need, now we need to get deeper friction because now we got to be a little bit more detailed. Now we got to be a little bit better, you know, especially going, we're going on the road and we got to figure out what we're, what, like who we want to be and how we're going to do it. I'm going to, I'm going to ask you this thing before we go to break, that when we come back, you break down the accountability scale for this thing, that Jay Foreman as a linebacker and a leader of the 97, 98 Huskers has a voice because of work put in. Sure. Yeah. What does Jay say to this team? Because this team, here's, and it's the real talk, right? That we got to go to string. Right. That's probably what needs to happen. But the reality is the greatest adage in sports is that there's nothing wrong that a win will cure because the win means that you adjusted, adapted and accepted responsibility. And this team has equal likelihood of going 3 and 0 as 0 and 3 for sure. Now we get to find out. Yeah. And that's why I'm cranking. That's what, and I need to know what Jay Foreman is going to say to these folks to get them, you got 10 days to get ready for USC and a chance to become bowl eligible. We can't forget the mission and the next thing. Yeah. Couple of things. We'll do that. I need to thank some folks when we come back. And then we had folks come down to the middle Saturday, the pregame and put their name in the box for a drawing for assigned Corey Schlesinger jersey. We will have Harrison Arnes spin the wheel. Jay Foreman's oven-sized mitt will go in there and pick a winner for the Corey Schlesinger jersey when we come back to old school at Kroger pharmacy. Care is making it easy to get vaccinated.
