All right, y'all welcome. Happy Wednesday to everybody you may notice the absence of cookie I'll be I'll be sitting in for him today. So we're all very very lucky to frankly have me here I'm joined by our boys drew and Justin here welcome gentlemen. Thank you for having me on the the Wednesday I really appreciate you you welcoming in so thank you for that Of course, how uh, how are you guys doing? We've got a big big game coming up this week I think that's pretty obvious. I think we can go ahead and start there, but with that With that Justin, is there anything? I mean what is is there any news in the recruiting world that we need to note at this point? Well, there's always news that Texas fans need to know about when it comes to recruiting because nobody recruits one class they recruit three classes ahead and So there's always something good to know Grace and Littleton corner back to just be committed from Clemson a couple weeks ago took an official visit to Michigan last weekend He's gonna be at Texas this weekend for his official the horns need another corner and this 2025 cycle to join Kaleb Chester Four star out of Fort Bend Marshall. I think that's pretty relevant. He is a good-looking kid He's long but six one and a half almost six - kind of that stereotypical NFL corner size got some wingspan to him I like him a lot He'll be on campus Kellen will Wiley a linebacker out of Tampa, Florida That's been kind of gaining some momentum here in the last few weeks Texas wants another linebacker in this class and they're gonna continue to try to flip Riley Pettigee on But until then they're gonna work on a couple other guys like Matt and fair emo Who's also looking at scheduling a trip But while he coming in this weekend I think is big because he's got a handful of schools Miami and Georgia are also coming at him as well And so it just to really there's always something to talk about in recruiting rather It's class of 2025 or some of these freakish sophomores I saw in the state of Georgia last week in the class of 2027 Either way inside Texas always has something and that's the good stuff about recruiting Yeah, it is it is one of those One of those periods of time. How much do you think we were talking about this the other day? with the playoff games Texas makes a longer run into this they're gonna be sitting in that first round of the playoffs around signing time I mean, have you have even any insight on how much that's affecting us if you think that'll affect us at all I mean obviously it's gonna be a good thing for us to be in that position That's a nice thing to sell to recruits, but I'm just thinking logistics. These guys are These coaches are all over the joint. No, that's actually a legitimate concern that I don't think any fan actually thinks about or contemplates, but and no one sparked the way we do and his staff They are very ultra focused on game weeks And during the season like you have to host recruits for Saturdays That's just part of the part of the gig and and now with him taking an unlimited official visits That just really makes it even more taxing on this right on what they have to do today today Honestly, we don't know the effects yet lc. This is the first year for the 12 team playoff We don't know what's gonna happen there. We do know early national signing days the first week in December And so I I think once Texas beats a and m they'll go straight into the mindset of closing up the class of 2025 as soon as possible Because it'll be in that first week and hopefully getting all those signatures in so that they can really focus on the remainder of the season Which is a playoff run and potentially a national championship? And so I I think this is all new to everybody and I think everybody's trying to find they're gonna try to find that happy balance that happy medium I think you're just gonna see more staffers put to work. I think you're gonna see Chris Gilbert and Brandon Harris taking on more roles Uh, just because I'm telling you sark is a great recruiter and we have learned that and there's different aspects He's really fantastic about But when it comes to a game week, don't jack with him He really likes to kind of focus in on what what's in at hand because if they don't solve what they're doing on that saturday That recruiting doesn't mean a whole lot two years later. And so uh, it's gonna be interesting see how sark and those guys Find that balance true. What was your experience with mac in that regard because obviously this is he's legendary recruiter and was able to seemingly Kind of balance everything at least for a while there as the you know, air quotes ceo of the program Did you did you notice anything different around game weeks? No, because he was a ceo because that's involved in the in the preparation of it But I do know at the end of the day, it is about winning when you win and makes recruiting much easier So sark knows that he knows that's his formula Um, yeah, he just needs to win Uh, and these these guys want to see wins. I remember I mean we were there were several of us who committed early. I mean I was committed bringing before In the spring of my junior year Um, and really didn't think much after that. I kind of knew I wanted to go to Texas So it really wasn't a question of if I was going or not uh, but one of the schools that was Kind of still recruited me a bit Was was LSU But plenty thing texas ended up playing and it wasn't even closed but texas ended up playing lsu And that's what actually that's been the experience there. Yeah, yes But texas ended up playing lsu And uh mountain ball in 2002. I was there and it was freezing cold I was there too. And my boy lj lee jackson with that scoop and score and his follow game bubba It was fun that so is it funny like when you get to see the teams that you're Being recruited by a play against each other, but then the team you are being recruited by wins Yeah, or you're going to win. It does feel that much better, but yeah, I was I was all in on texas at the time with this Help me out here a little bit just in it now Did they abolish completely the letter of intent? Is that gone? So when you say there's a signing period? What does that actually mean? Yeah, yeah, so Technically, yes the the the the nli not the nil Because lord knows no one's going to get confused by that Uh, the nli is no longer going to be a part of the process. Right. So, um I'm actually curious to see how they're going to handle these ceremonies because there's always this fake Thing that you're signing something and sure and you're really not doing any of that There's no faxes people still think they use fax machines. They actually they take screenshots You actually can do a signature off of a screenshot now Uh, it's fascinating with all the the new technology how they handle it But we still feel like they're going to have some sort of ceremony because I mean It's kind of a lot of what it is for the kids that that have accomplished this to be able to go to the next level That's such a high level. Um, again, that's something else. We're kind of starting to figure out like with these new nil rules that are coming in Uh, they don't really Don't go into play until july 1st 2025 got it. So I think we're going to have a good six or seven months eight months to kind of figure Out how that's going to go because essentially they're going to have to sign something It's a contract worldwide And you're going to need to put pen to paper if you want to get paid and go to school and have a good time in Austin, Texas And so I really don't know how that's going to work what they're going to sign if they're going to I still feel like they're going to go through some sort of trivial kind of signature deal Oh sure. Yeah, it's the theater of it If that means you don't show up, you know, if nobody signs anything, it's it's more or less Well, did so and so show up for the first day of class Yeah We want to get to that point because then my job becomes pure hell Oh, sure. Absolutely. So we do have a question here from our friend allen So stark being the ultimate five star flipper last minute. Do you do you see that happening with this year? We have I'm presumably we're in the race for a couple. I know that we're still recruiting a few Yeah, um Sark is good at the last minute flip and he is because he doesn't pressure kids He really he oh he he's really good at getting gauging the temperature of not only the player but the parents And the more I do this the more I realize how much that actually helps the kids make decisions because they can't do this by themselves And I think a lot of times they feel like they do but when you have a mom and a dad there that are there I think that's a big factor. Um Devin Sanchez is the biggest name. That's the kid if you're a Texas fan. That's the kid you want He is an ultimate Come in play immediately Cornerback at a galena park down in north shore. Um But you know he's still working on a few other guys if they're not five stars that may be high four stars Sure And and the numbers are they're getting a little bit smaller like I mean there's probably only five or six more spots in this class Theoretically That could grow a little bit now with the new no walk-on rules and things of that sort but man it's it's uh It's going to be interesting to see kind of how it plays out because Devin Sanchez is one that that Texas that he still connects with Texas on a regular basis And he is and he's a numbers buster. If you if your class is full, you find room for that dude Um justice terry. I went and hung out with him in manchester Georgia up last week. He's one that Texas has his attention But I get a call in Simmons to Texas vibe there whereas I don't think Kirby smart can allow justice terry to leave the state Uh the number two rated defense attack on the country. I don't think that's going to happen That Texas is in the mix. Uh if there's one other guy that I think people like it's definitely michael facusi And that's the offensive tackle out of louisville um He's been a prime target for two and a half years now And i've actually talked to facusi on a number of occasions the last few weeks Uh because there's just been so much speculation that he you know because oklahoma home is not having the best season So what's the first thing people do they go to the top of the list of the recruits to see what they're feeling Well, if you know michael, this is a very authentic real kid And no matter what oklahoma does this year He loves bill beaten ball. He loves the potential of starting as a freshman for the oklahoma sooners That's who he is and in every kid's different And so he's one that texas is not letting up on they've been him texas and texas and texas and him have been coming at him Last two months. He tells me almost every day Like it's he but at the same time If i'm a coach or a fan i'm thinking well oklahoma's down Who can you flip? Who can you go in there and pillage who can you take? You know like a colt voshek lake who can you go in there and just rip out of their hands michael facusi would be that guy Unfortunately michael facusi is a very straight lace kid He didn't pick oklahoma on a whim He picked it after a ton of thought a ton of prayer and a ton of insight from his family His father evanese are an incredible man. He just has a great support system I would love for michael facusi to call me and go hey wells i'm ta i'm headed to austin this weekend But the last three times we've talked that hasn't happened and i i'm a little hesitant right now But let kau floody start figure that out over the next month because they do have his attention And you know our 18 year old kids he can never really know Yeah, yeah, it's it's absolutely true i mean it is it's difficult to To place any bets or anything on like that because it's just the the mercurial nature of it But if you are going to play some sports betting You can do this go over to prize picks and i want to hear from our friend kooky about that What's up y'all here to tell y'all about prize picks and i got to say when you're sports junkies like us You got to make the games interesting every now and then and there's no better way to make games interesting with prize picks Daily fantasy made easy. It is daily fantasy sports made easy What so this was an interesting and we're going to get to florida here in a second, but something has come up here. I'm just curious what your thoughts on this because I look oh use capable of anything but But I just don't see them firing Ben behind me No, bro. Yeah, maybe I mean I I don't know what we asked him, but that's a tough. That's a tough sell. Yeah, I mean, I mean you can There's always wishful thinking. I mean christmas is getting closer. You can always ask sanna uh, there's there's options Uh, but I just do not see that happening at all. Listen this guy could have gone with linkin riley to us Sure, but he decided to stay in norman for whatever reason I just don't think he's going anywhere. The guy look they they're offensive line is a disaster this year. I mean, right Brutal brutally bad, but the guy has a really good hit rate Oh, sure. There are plenty of offensive linemen in the NFL that can he can put as a skin on the wall That's my guy And so uh, I hate to tell texas fans but bill beaten ball like he's he just did a tremendous job with the sushi He really did and I just don't see him going anywhere Not even and I mean, I'm saying that if they brought in a new head coach which are not He's still there like he's a guy that's just he's gonna be there for a while So it would have to be a crazy scenario of bill beaten ball guy can And then the next phone call is to his agent If i'm sark because you get that dude in austin as an assistant or as a Staffer as soon as possible. Sure. Yeah Absolutely, let me uh As we move on here drew I you and I spoke about this obviously on monday, but Have have you developed any more thoughts on what we're about to see this saturday against florida? I I don't know billy napier keeps playing games with us, you know, it looks like we i don't know Are we gonna see or we're gonna have who's gonna be playing quarterback? Right. We don't know All we know is, you know You know hamstring injury which the kid held his hand on for the entire time and to the full I mean that they they brought a parade of people to put them on the on the cart and Take them off the the field. So, you know, man. I hope sark is ready. Uh, no, I I mean at the end of the day This kid is talented, but There's no way. Um, I believe his talent Even when he's healthy is enough to just surpass what what we'll be able to throw at him Uh, he's still a freshman quarterback. So Um, I think in the day, I know there's a bit of gamesmanship going on, but Our guys are are dialed into to what we do and we'll be prepared for what they do They just had a really rough game last week. I mean, that's guys get injured all over the place So we don't really know who's gonna be doing what we got the injury report here. So yeah, this literally just came out here So obviously dj lagway is listed as questionable. I mean again We're we're hearing lots of things Just a little bit for me else. Yeah, of course has that you relax. Make it bigger. Yeah, there we go Hold on. Let me get that for you. I know she's told you to make it bigger before but I really mean it this time No, I understand. Yeah, it's but it's also I don't you may not see this, but I'm I'm moving the the page rhythmically And sometimes that's that's better than the font being a large size. Justin. That's what I've been told Is there something else that you'd like to see here? You know Oh boy, man. They're gonna Take me and george has had a good season. That's that's a hit fellas He is that I believe he's a north shore kid. Yeah, and that's a hit. That's a big hit um As Eugene wilson there's I think that's their top receiver Yeah, this is tough and you know, you know, I think we're all learning Man this thing in the sec is really saturday to saturday and at any I mean, I know it's so trivial any given sunday They've been given saturday. This is legitimate. I'm telling you every single weekend You better come prepared because of stuff like this You've got practice reports where you've got a dozen guys that are going to be missing from one game that could be back the next I just hope and we know sark is going to be prepared for whatever quarterback comes their way I don't think they're going to pull an lsu and not prepare it all for a marcel read like they encountered two weeks ago in college station That was uh, that was really negligent on on the tiger's part Um, I don't think that's going to be the case but just to echo what uh, what what drew said Man, even if this quarterback is healthy even if both of them are healthy I think this is a game where texas can pin their ears back and basically exploit this offensive line and in this quarterback position I can just tell you man. That's a lot of guys. Yeah on one list Uh in some of those questionable are also key dudes. Yeah, well, that's that that's that's really the the difference too with the way Sark has built this roster. It's one thing to have depth or just to have players and talent. Yeah For instance when I played if you weren't the starter or kind of the elderly or senior backup You weren't playing uh just you were you you never expected to play. Um, I remember I got thrown out on the field Because I think uh p.g. Z. Philip gigger got hurt for a series or got dinged up against arkansas I was not ready to be on the field in fayetteville at safety like I will remember that game. I was not ready to be on the field, but they threw me out there for a series Our d line handled off the business didn't have to deal with matt jones or phyllis Felix jones, I didn't have to deal with any of that. But when I got off the field, I was like, yeah That's a little relief because I really wouldn't play what to do At the end of the day though. I do know In this league and with the way we're developing this team Every player knows their shot is one playaway. It really is one playaway And sometimes it's not even due to injury. It could just be one week away from just you developing having great practices and working your way into a lineup Um, but people have to remember july mcdonald. I mean He's he's just now starting to play safety and kind of get his reps and I mean we we liked what he's shown But If they didn't prepare him to play from day one, he would not have been ready to step up and do what he's done Uh, so even though we're bringing in transfers we're bringing dbs. We're bringing guys for depth These guys who are still on campus still have to be ready to pay That have to be ready to complete to compete and play because I mean look at this list Um You just don't know from week to week if your list can look like florida's or we're going to be healthy. So Um, I'm actually I appreciate that sark develops his depth and gets them ready to step up Because just historically When a guy gets hurt You're bummed out by That that's really not happening. We haven't experienced that yet. Um, and that's even at the quarterback position. So Keep our fingers crossed that we don't get any thinner, but I really appreciate The way sark has built this team and i'm happy we're coming off of bi-week Amen For those of you that are listening on the podcast, we're just going to the texas side really quickly. These are uh, darek CJ Baxter christian clark, uh, velden gardener. Those are outs Vernon broughton is listed on the injury report, but he is out strictly for the first half for a penalty And then our questionables are makuba Vasik and Probable is is a bond. I'm curious drew What do you think where do you think the shift happened? What was the shift from having more of a mac mentality where you're playing maybe a shorter bench as opposed to moving to sark who seems to be a little bit more on the extreme Of playing more players. What do you attribute that shift to? I think it's attributed to just Sarks I mean accountability and just competition. I mean at the end of the day You can be a starter. Uh, you can be a guy who's supposed to be next in line for a position and they'll go recruit three receivers They'll go bring in three defensive linemen. It does not matter. You're not handed the next the next spot or guaranteed a spot as a starter because Depth is key and competitive depth. So they're bringing in three grown men every year at certain positions just to build depth If you're a sophomore and you never touch the field You either have to grow up fast compete or you know like well, what are you gonna do? Uh, but that that's really the difference the portal has in the way that texas has used it They're using it to build depth. They're using it because they know Delignment we're all going to be better and put better Plays on film when we're fresh and when we're we're rotating through the same thing happens really we haven't done this yet But I think from now on we'll probably need to get enough backs to where we have to worry about this But I think running backs I mean even teams in NFL have multiple backs now to keep guys fresh to do different things and schemes So there will be positions where we just need the depth whether it be for injury or whether it just be for mere freshness Of just having guys ready to play. I think You want fresh D linemen to go against some of these offensive linemen throughout the game and you all need the quality to be there So I think that's really the difference the portal and the perpetual competition every day every week is competitive And so even if you're a guy who's not the guy You can work your way into the rotation if you're playing to a standard and with the consistency That's required to get on the field. I mean, let's let's not forget I mean you mentioned the running back positioned in the preseason that was arguably one of the deepest rooms we had on campus Right and yes, just as you pointed out drew these you know these injuries they hit hard They hit fast and in in this case they hit pretty deep as well in that room. So now Now having that depth is paramount. I don't know where we would be without it Let's um, let's talk a little bit of x's and o's here drew if you don't mind So this is from allen it crew should sark Try to run downhill, which we all think that he's absolutely going to do Uh to set up the pass versus florida or should he maintain the early rpo mainly passing to set up the run? So this is the the Very standard question. Do we do the run to set up the pass or or have the passing game set up the run? Although I think the i'm curious to hear what drew says on this. Yeah Because I'll add something after drew Sark likes to know what his options are and he likes to see it as quarterback ready to play Yeah So I just don't see them not going with rpo So if you're giving texas the run game, of course the rpo will allow you to take advantage of that But if you're just going to deny it And say, you know what we know that texas plays strong I mean, I mean they need the running game to to open up the pass game Then they may just decide to do what georgia did and say, hey, we're going to make sure you don't run the ball And we're just going to have you have you be uncomfortable not being able to establish the run I do think the rpo is just that that's where it starts But The quarterback position is where sark wants to lead this there's no reason to have quin ewers Three years on this roster Uh, especially in the condition that our run game has been in and not but not be able to lead with quin Uh in the rpo game and see how that could open up things in the passing game. So, um I just don't see them going away from that If we can establish a run game and get them on their toes where they feel like they're threatened by the past I just think this is a year where we should be able to lean on our quarterback to open up the run game Or help loosen up some things along the line of scrimmage if we can but We can't win the games. We need to win the rest of the season if we can't lean on quin and the rpo So Why not this game? Why not now? I just don't see how we we do anything outside of that What are your thoughts on that jason? Okay I never disagree with drew because i'm not stupid But In this case, okay the last two weeks We there's no defensive honesty They're not vander built in georgia aren't being honest with their defense one bit Because they know texas can't run the ball And that is why they had such a hard time on offense. I feel like I think that's It's like a sidekick to to what the old line the issues they've had to what quin years being comfortable You know it With you have a three-year quarterback in quin years You should be able to lean on him to fix these things and kind of figure stuff out as you go Because let me tell you something florida's front is not bad. Like this team's not bad They've been playing a little bit better each week, you know, they're they're doing they've still got really good athletes Over there and they still got a good front seven But I feel like texas has to establish the run to keep these defenses honest Otherwise, they're just going to continue to pin their ears bring four or five and even six people at different times And just and you're going to wind up in close games every week in the sec Because you can't run the ball because they don't respect you to run the ball George the second drive against the georgia game curby smart looked at each other goes all right boys Y'all ready because we got him and they did They just pin their ears back had that two deep shell and and they dared you to run the football in texas couldn't do it Against vander built that game was close a lot of it because you got gave him You know good but gave their offense a lot of good field position Especially early, but you got to establish the run Like I think bill walsh was the first one that came along and said hey, I like to I'm gonna start passing to establish the run Which old school was always run first to establish the past bill walsh was like now We can do it a little differently and I think sark has a lot of that especially when you have not just him And not just got our helm but some really good wide receivers that are going to play on sundaes I just if you asked me this question two weeks ago. I just said 100 what drew saying that's it right there The last two weeks the scc's on to texas. They know they can't run the football I completely agree with you just and that we need to run the football I just haven't seen us do it and do it against like I mean they have I think they have one player out on the D line but I'll set this up until this point. I think I said this monday We actually get a real schedule these last four games with clear along the trenches that look like our players Yes, you can't pretend mississippi state. Um, oh you We can't pretend those games will be comfortable to what we're about to see here. So Can we run? Yeah, that's that's where I don't know. We're like, can we run? And when when you think about how we've been able to establish running the past And I'm not reevaluating the productivity of our offensive line, but what made jonathan brook special what made be john special what made these guys special are the number of miss tackles Yes, explosive plays and extra yards off of making guys miss. Yeah, everything we're seeing now It's not making guys miss. It's it's a lot of things are going for what they're blocked And then you get tripped up and maybe get a few extra yards, but staying on your feet having contact balance Uh being able to to create explosive runs even when you're in the hole even when you have a defender It's a combination of the the backs having the same ability that we've seen in the past And and it's you know, are they able to maximize that and so we we've getting our backs involved in the perimeter A lot more than I think we've ever needed to But I think that's because i'm just not sure that's what we we're capable of doing and i'm i'm not If we're able to establish the run over the next four weeks with the rosters We have to play and all the film that we put out of our inability to do that Justin We're gonna be lights out like it's if people allow texas to find the run game. It will be scary I just i'm not sure we'll be able to lean on it. I haven't seen it. I'd love to I think both backs look great in the last games both had explosive runs. I think 21 yards 23 yards between Weisner and and that blue so They both look dynamic in the last game. We just have to I want to see it this week I think what we see too is the difference in a starter And a third stringer and a fourth stringer and a fifth stringer Not that they're less than the starter, but there's a reason cj backster was a starter There's a reason and so as you go down the depth chart It doesn't usually get better. You have you know, you still have talented backs texas Is always going to have those especially with the char choice there But there's the fourth string for a reason and that's what i've loved about trey Weisner He plays like he's a first stringer. He's got he's got such a strong mentality But he's not brooks or vijon. He's not breaking any tackles. He'll try to run through you He's going to keep those feet churning which is all they can really do right now But I think that goes along to what Drew's saying. It's like hey There I don't know if the capability is there. I will say this after talking to a source earlier today I wouldn't be surprised if we see some more jerry gifts on saturday I think jerry gives it actually sets up well for what they're going to want to do against this defensive front I call him true north for a reason. He only knows how to go one direction He east west no clue going backwards like hell It's true north for this kid And I think as soon as he starts to pick up that blitz more on third down and be a little bit more protective Especially that the last two weeks the offensive line has shown some chinks and armor I think that's going to be a big key I just know that these defensive talking to a couple of college coaches let this last week on some of the sidelines I just know these schools don't think texas can run the ball and they're going to prepare that way And buddy, this is where sark's going to have to make his money We want to uh take a quick word from our last person for the night the incomparable laura baker I want to tell you about laura baker If you're looking for a new home in the five one two or even at this point Let's face it seven three seven area code. She's a friend. Give her a call What are we what are we thinking and we're staying in the running back room here a little bit Just talked about jara gibson. What are your thoughts at this point drew as to If you had to speculate why are we not getting the push we expected on that offensive line in the run game I mean the the past pro's been good, but what what's why are they just not getting that push So, um, there's two things that stand out for me We're and it's it really it really jumped out the georgia game We can't pick and choose when we're going to be finesse versus physical Especially if a team is just going to be physical every play so we got hammer hammer hammer and Just have that be the standard, but the finesse I mean you have to be finesse, but you have to be physical between tackles Um, you just can't let let the def like let a defense t off on your offensive line So that's probably the thing that stood out to me the most Is that There are plays where they just feel a bit more finesse or it feels like the old line is being less physical When they're not coming downhill, but we also been running outside zone a bit more Like there's certain things we're doing that just don't allow them to get downhill But we also haven't shown the strength of being able to to to just mold people in the same way Um, with that with that finesse though. Do you attribute that? Is that a is that a strength? Strengthen conditioning is that coaching style? What do you know? No, no, no, no, no. Trust me These guys are being coached to be physical every play. It's that yes, there's no question about that. I think it's the email It is it has to be drilled back into them that regardless of the play You need to establish your presence on the field regardless You need to put your whatever the case is. It does not change how physical you have to play They should not know whether it's run or pass Um, but I do think as we're getting into more of these these lateral throws and we've been doing them but it just doesn't feel like We are moving or displacing the defensive line In ways that that we need to because you can do that even on rpo's even on rpo's But lines should not know and does not know whether the quarterback is throwing the ball or not That's the whole point of it. So we block the run the court everything else Should should take take care of its own I do think we just It's it's a mentality thing. It's a mentality thing. It's a confidence thing. Uh, we've seen some looks we've seen guys shift Um, there are some key there there is some situational football there too Where if we're behind the chains a second and seven second and nine Yeah, you you can whether you load the box or move got or hang guys back. So you can't throw over their head I do think Defensive just defenses is just a bit more dialed in to us situationally and when they know we can't run the ball or at least They're willing to risk Right. Okay. Let's see if Texas can run the ball. Yeah, uh, if we take away the pass or if we press these receivers Um, there's just a difference there, but there's also a difference When izaa bond is on the field Um, there there's a difference when izaa bond is on the field There's there's a difference now that d'andre more has shown that he when without izaa bond he can be the lead dog On the team getting the throws making the big plays So there's some elements i makes just to see too with just how d'andre more Um, izaa bond like how all these guys now that we kind of have a more established rotation of physical guys in past blocking Um at the receiver position, but guys who can also threaten you when you make these short throws um It should allow us some variability to where the defense is a little bit on their heels and allow us to come downhill You cannot assume texas is going to go head-to-head with any of these massive defensive lines And just maul over them There has to be some element of guesswork that the defense is required to do So that you catch them off guard or you catch them on their heels or you keep or you have your linebackers in conflict I don't feel like we have been able to establish that part where we have guys in conflict and we keep them on skates So, um while there's a physicality part of it. I don't think we're losing that I just don't think teams trust that we can run the ball Um just at will and so they're betting against it and they've been winning This is um, this is from just a random coach um So coach is curious since I may have missed it But think florida will have the same game plan as ull in 2021 ton of outside zone with bootleg and waggles Uh, you want to translate that for me drew You're getting your quarterback comfortable outside the pocket. He's reading half of the field easy throws You may have a couple of shots down the field. You may have a tight end leak back the other way You may have somebody come on the backside. Um It keeps the game playing simple, but you're playing leverage And so there's always a chance in this type of game plan Um, because you got to play and be honest in the run But you're also you're getting a guy on the edge to where he doesn't have to sit in the pocket and Be aware of people collapsing from both sides He'll have a good sense of where the ball should go or at least where the defenders are so he can buy time So, um, you want to get your players outside the box Especially in his quarterback playing at this level for the first time Uh for full game. Um, yeah, I can definitely see that Uh coach dove That that's a safe game plan. Uh, I mean For for what? What you want to do with a backup quarterback in a game like this We um as we're moving toward the the edge here of this we talked a little bit about Obviously texas is defensive advantage. Hopefully, uh, especially if they are unable to suit lagway, but in terms of What do you and I know we've just been talking about this but if you had to pick what are two things that you would really want To see the offense do Early early in the game to establish it. Is it the run game? Do is that what we really need to hit? Yes, it's hard to deny that like I love it. He has run the ball and run it well and be able to lean on the run. Um, am I confident We're going to be able to do that. I don't know it didn't appear Um, we're confident. We're going to be able to do that. So we'll see if that changes this week But I want to see a clean game from quen. I mean, it's hard to ignore that part too Um, you know, I think every game that's gone by you know with oh you coming off injury and then we've been able to make I want to say excuses, but we've been able to kind of Talk through like hey, why does he why is he playing this way? Uh, george was likely for everybody, you know, we've been able to rationalize it There's no rationalizing anymore. Um, there's no there's no way to have really justified at this point Sure, there can be another tip ball interception and we're all looking around wondering how is that happening again I can't speak to that, you know, you can call bad luck bad luck But at the end of the day on plays where execution is required Uh, where they're taking away his first read and he has to go to his second read On plays where he just needs to step up in the pocket and move around a little bit until a receiver flash is open as he's supposed to That's what I want to see him do is execute the offense uh in a way that That puts us in position to twin games, but We also got a help plan though. I know you said two things, but we can't have these pre-snap penalties. We can't get behind the chains Um, we can't have first and 15 second and 15 first and 10 second initially early First and 20 we can't have these the these penalties that put us behind the chains because we don't have the run game And so it's not like you can get first and 20 and then Go get seven yards in the run game. Um, just willingly Um, you could try to but okay now you're second and 17 or second and 12 What are you doing? And so you got to stay ahead of the chains. Um, and so the penalties have to be Just we got to figure out the penalties whether it be holding penalties on the edges or or um, just just pre-snap penalties So kind of three things there I got to see what we can do with the run game. We've got to eliminate penalties because those are controllable And quin you got to be confident in your game plan Um, and and stepping up in the pocket and moving with confidence and just knowing what to expect and seeing guys and throwing guys open We want you to join us over at inside texas.com if you use the promo code It one you're going to get two months of content for one american dollar now if you're doing the math there That's that's going to it's going to take us up into the playoffs. Well, we've talked about the injury report It is very very deep. Unfortunately for florida. You always want the best that each team can give you So hopefully there will be some some Healing up this week, but it's pretty unlikely unless you listen to coach napier And they've got some special things going on in their gatorade that is going to allow a legway to uh to get it in the game But, uh, I don't think any of us are projecting that we have a lot of content coming up Be sure to check out the lives tomorrow.
