Maybe the biggest game of the season, so far at least, for the Broncos coming up this Sunday in Baltimore against the Ravens. And joining us in the KOA comments for your health studio here in the Broncos radio color analyst, host of the Rick Lewis Show on 10035, the Fox. That is our sister's station, Rick Lewis, and I was scrolling through the obituaries to make sure that we could clear that off our docket before we talk Broncos. As far as rock stars go? Yes. I mean, people pass away every day, but... You heard Mike Haffner, pesto? Yes. Well, so I'm glad you actually brought that up, because he was somebody of my youth I'd watched on TV all the time doing sports, a former Broncos receiver, and he was a sports anchor. I believe it was Channel 7. Yeah. I think so. 82 years ago. I think even Channel 2 for a while as well, if I recall, but... I think you're right. Yeah. Really good guy too. We used to have him on the show all the time. No, that's sad, but he had that great catch. They got to play the Jets in the 69 season, and he made a great catch to beat the Jets at the old mile high back in the day. Okay. Those are little things I don't remember was not here or even sentient enough to understand that. But as a kid growing up, I watched him doing sports all the time. Yeah. Tom Green, I saw him make the announcement when I was watching Tom yesterday, and he said that. Okay. Yeah. So that was kind of a... But I'm glad you brought that up to be Broncos relevant. Absolutely. So you want to talk Broncos? Yeah. And Ravens. And Ravens. Yeah. You know, I'm starting to get the same feeling about this game as I had going into Tampa, and you guys might remember I predicted the Broncos would upset Tampa. And they did. In fact, they played their best game of the year up to that point and beat a good Tampa Bay team. It's starting to feel that way again here going up against the Baltimore Ravens. Ravens are beat up on both sides of the ball. Their quarterback Lamar Jackson, league MVP, has some injury problems. He's missed the last two days of practice. They're calling it a back-and-knee injury, but insiders saying it's a groin core injury. You know, and core injuries, well, you know, Marty just flinched when I said that. Core injuries are, they're, they're pretty serious. It's code. It's code for like, I'm in pain, and this is stuff to deal with. Yeah. It's, that's a big deal, especially for a mobile quarterback like Lamar Jackson. So even if he does play, I have a feeling he's not going to be the same Lamar Jackson, which certainly gives the Broncos an edge on Sunday. So Rick, the Broncos and the Ravens both are five and three. So why are the Ravens so much highly favored, very much highly favored in this game compared to the Broncos? Well, Vegas didn't believe in the Broncos yet. I think that's pretty obvious and the Ravens have Lamar Jackson MVP quarterback. He's, he's, he's player of the month. I think if I saw that, did I see that in this week, a AFC player of the month offensive? Yeah. They're the rookie player of the month. Yeah. Lamar Jackson's great. They have a lot of weapons. They have the great running back, Derek Henry, two really good tight ends, a good wide receivers. A flowers. They have a lot of weapons. They're the highest scoring team in the national football league, but on defense, they have one of the worst defenses in the NFL. And so we know the Broncos defense is legit. So if they can just slow down Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, just a bit and bonus can play like he did last week, I think if they score 24 to 27 points, Broncos win the game, I was thinking and maybe you had mentioned this, but I was hoping the Ravens would have beat Cleveland last week because that was a bad loss by them. So you're thinking, okay, now they've got a little extra juice realizing we got to get this bad taste out of our mouth. That probably is the impetus. You're saying, Gina, why they're a favorite at home, same record, but they're at home and coming off that crappy loss bounce back game for them. But keep this in mind. They're on it. They have a short week coming up. They play Thursday against Cincinnati, which if, if I'm the Baltimore Ravens front office, I'm sitting Lamar Jackson out this week. If he's hurt, you don't want to, you don't want to get this guy hurt and then have to play again on a short week Thursday. I think they probably sit him out if, if he can't go, let him rest, get him ready for Thursday and the rest of the season. I mean, this is going to be a tricky thing, a tricky decision for them to make Sunday against the Broncos. Let's look at quarterbacks. You talked about it earlier, your reaction to Bonix being named the NFL offensive rookie of the month, surprising to you or very much deserved. I was a little surprised because Jayden Daniels has been the talk of the league and Jayden Daniels has been great. In fact, he's in the MVP discussion this year. So I was a little surprised. Bonix did win that, but no, he earned it and he's come a long ways since that first game against Seattle Broncos at one, five of six Broncos suddenly one of the hottest teams in the national football league. So what's the game plan? If you are the Broncos realizing hostile crowd, it is the Ravens. This is a bellwether game, the toughest challenge of them for, for the season. What, what do you, Broncos got to do the basics, right? Defense and run the ball. Yeah. Defense and gap responsibility with Derek Henry and Lamar Jackson. If he does plan the game Jackson in the pocket, I would imagine would be key, even though he's very efficient from there too. Yeah. He probably put a spy on him to make sure he can't take off and run on you. The, the Ravens have a really good run defense, but the worst pass defense in the league. This could be a bone X day if bone X keeps playing like he's been playing. This could be a game that he can win for you on Sunday. I think that gives them their best chance. The Broncos taking on the Ravens in Baltimore Sunday. More KOA coverage begins at 7 a.m. or what like Marty likes to joke, sometimes like 2 a.m. Because it just feels like it's earlier earlier earlier, earlier coverage is just all morning Sunday. Before we wrap up, let me ask you our poll question. I have it there. Broncos Ravens. I have it. Broncos by three Broncos narrowly and then the Ravens big. What, what you say you think the Broncos are going to win, but is it going to be a field goal or less game? Oh, yeah. I think, I think that's there's an upset in the making here and Broncos could win on a last minute field goal. You were right about Tampa. I was right about Tampa. I was right about this to, to, you know, baby Jesus is here. I also, man, I'm going out in a big limb here, being a nine and a half point dog, thinking the Broncos could upset him, but I just have the feeling of, by the way, I love the CSU shirt that they gave you for the honorary PhD. Yeah. Dr. Marty Lance. I love this myself. Yeah. Make sure you put it up on the honoree. Thank you. We'll get a frame. That's honorary PhD. Put it up for you, man. Take off Sunday, 11 a.m. Broncos, color analysts, toes to the Rick Lewis Show on 1035, the Fox. It's Rick Lewis. Thanks, Rick. All right, man. We'll see you next week. Love you guys too.
