With the unseasonably warm temperature whose colorado has had in the past couple of weeks, there's a high likelihood the idea of winter activities have yet to cross your mind, unless you're like me and they have crossed your mind because you're like, "Man, I'm ready to start skiing." Oh, of course. What is it going to get cold? And of course, it's on our next guest mind as well because hitting the slopes is your idea of winter fun, which it is for most of us here in Colorado, and now is the absolutely best time to be planning for that season, and joining us in studio again with us to talk about it from Colorado Ski Country, USA. It's Sarah Beatty. I know you do nothing but, well, I shouldn't say that because you have other events in the summertime too, but you think of skiing predominantly first. You wake up thinking skiing, you go to bed thinking skiing. You know what? I actually do. I think about skiing a lot. What should we think about with this ski season? What should we anticipate and prepare for? I mean, this is a nice thing. We don't quite have the weather yet, but it gives us a chance to get our ducks in a row. Well, speaking of getting your ducks in a row, this is exactly the time of year that you should be thinking about it because you should be buying your tickets now. You might not be a season pass holder. Like, I have busy kids, right? They're running around. They've got events every weekend. They've got stuff going on. Season passes don't work well for us. But a four-pack, that might be perfect. A ticket or lesson and bundle package that you might pick at your favorite resort, that might work really well for you. But the thing that you need to know that is so critically important is that once the snow flies and you start looking up there and going, "Ooh, what a great weekend to go skiing." Those deals are long gone. So right now is the time to be planning and buying the ticket package or lift tickets that are going to work for your family because you're going to get the best deals available right now. Yes, Sarah, I've already been telling my out-of-towner friends because they're like, "I think I'll plan a trip out this year." And I'm like, "Buy it now then. Buy it now." Because they get sticker shock when they show up. Do not pop up to the ticket window on a beautiful snowy Saturday in January. Don't do it. What do you think are going to be some of the most popular deals or some of the most popular areas we're going to see in this upcoming season? Well, you know, like I say, if you've got a favorite area, go check their website, check their social media, see what they have available. You know, there are some things like, if you're in a basin skier, they've got this amazing fall pass deal, $259. We're unlimited skiing through December 25th. So if you're an early bird, you have the ability to get up there, that's a great one. Telluride has seasoned passes and lift tickets. Those increase on November 11th. So if you're a telluride skier, you've got a few minutes. Eldora has the Alpine family bundle that lets purchasers save up to 15% on their unlimited Alpine passes and includes discounts. Don't forget, we, Colorado Ski Country USA, have an amazing set of passes that are designed to get families skiing together as affordably as possible. The kids ski passport for $67, 80 days on the snow at 20 resorts. The gems teen pass for $199, 22 days at 11 resorts, and then the gems parent pass for $325, 22 days on the snow. Lots and lots of ways to get your family skiing together this season. Some of the things that I like about you all, you have resorts that aren't always top of mind but are very good. I think of places like Copper and Monarch. What can we anticipate at places like that? Which are actually wonderful places, but aren't always top of mind, which means sometimes there's a lot of great places to ski without the big crush of crowds. You know what? I grew up skiing at Monarch. It is such a wonderful resort, and they are doing a big expansion. It's going to open next season. This season, you get to ski on the east side of the Continental Divide. When they open no-name basin next season, you'll get to ski both sides of the Continental Divide. They're going to open up 377 acres. Monarch is a wonderful, wonderful resort in south-central Colorado. And then Copper is amazing. They have this wonderful, naturally divided terrain, and they have put in a new lift this season, Timberline Express. And it gets you to some of that wonderful, intermediate terrain a little bit quicker. It's part of their Western territory expansion, so there's lots of wonderful things. And if you haven't been to Copper in a while, their new mid-mountain lodge, the Aerie, is fantastic. So, lots and lots of things to look forward to at Copper Mountain as well. Sarah, we're looking outside right now, and we're like, "Man, it is warm. It is unseasonably warm." But when are we going to start hearing some of those opening dates? Well, opening days you can find on our website, color@esky.com. We've got the opening days that we know, and of course, those are all subject to mother nature, intent, nudge, mother nature. So, some of the resorts are hauling out their snowmaking equipment. They're testing the lines. You're going to see them from the highway from I-70. They're going to start running those snow guns and testing them out, checking for leaks, making sure everything's cracked. And then when the conditions are right, in the next week or two, you're going to start seeing those snow guns start making snow. So, the big takeaway from today's discussion is don't wait to get your passes. Don't wait. Get them now. Do it now. Very good. Very good. Sarah, I always love catching up with you. Great. Well, I'm sure we'll talk to you throughout the season as well. You bet. Thanks so much. Awesome. You can find more information at color@esky.com. Finding the right news podcast can feel like dating.
