The Bronco's back home on Sunday after an extended road trip along the East Coast and a successful one at that. Bagging two victories over Tampa and the Jets. And kick off against the Raiders come Sunday. It'll be just after two. Our coverage begins here at eight that morning. Fun fact, the Broncos haven't beaten the Raiders since they moved to Vegas in 2020. Well, it's been eight straight. Joining us now to talk about it, host of the Rick Lewis Show in one to three five, the Fox and Bronco's color analyst, it's Rick Lewis. Good morning, Rick. I, by the way, I wanted to, I checked the obituaries for rock stars. Make sure we're in the clear. Well, we had Chris Kristofferson earlier in the week. Yes, yeah. I was really shocked. I didn't get a call from you. Yeah. I really, I was. We can talk about the end of the segment. I was saying by my phone, you know, for a couple of days. Like, wow, I can't believe he hasn't called me. Yeah. What do you expect to see? Now, I understand the Raiders are banged up quite a bit. Yeah, it looks like Devontae Adams will not play. And it looks like, I don't think Max Crosby's going to play. He's got a high ankle sprain. And that's a serious injury and there's still a lot of football to be played. So I think they probably hold him out too. And this, this Raiders team is in a bit of a state of disarray. Kind of feels like at least one wheel starting to fall off of this team, although they're two and two and they beat a couple of good teams already. This is a game that Broncos really need to win. Broncos need to win these next two home games. And if you do that, now you're starting to establish something because this defense is so good. You don't want to waste an elite defense because the defense is good enough to make a playoff run. They just need to get this offense cranked up and that's going to depend on Bonyx. That's what I was going to go with at Rick when you're talking about Bonyx. What have you liked about him so far and what really needs to improve in order to improve that offense? Well, he looks so good in Tampa, you know, and it showed you what this team is capable of the way they beat a good Tampa Bay team on the road. He showed that he can do it, but he just needs to find a consistent way to do that. He had a regression last week in New York. Now you can blame it on the weather. How much of that is weather related though? You know, it was hard to tell from the booth. It did rain steady the entire game. But I didn't think it was raining, you know, that hard where it would affect the quarterback play, but apparently it did because Bonyx mentioned it after the game. So did Sean Payton. And then Aaron Rodgers, the next day on a podcast, even brought it up that he thought the weather was a factor for him. And I have Jake Plummer on my show every Monday down here on the Fox. And I asked Jake that on Monday and he said, yes, he said rain can really cause a big problems for quarterbacks. And he said that he never played in too many rain games because he played, you know, college at Arizona State, but he said, when, when he did play in a rain game, he said it, it was really hard because the ball was slippery and the ball just didn't come out of his hand. Right. So it makes me think that's probably a good part of it last week. What game plan do you anticipate? I mean, obviously you want to see what they did against Tampa. I don't think anybody's going to say the Raiders are as good as Tampa. But to your point, playing an end division game and arrival, this is worth two. You win this and then within the division, you got the win and they got the loss against you for tiebreaker. That's how big this is too. Yeah. And they showed the last week that they can run the ball in the second half of that game. They finally were able to run the ball in Giovanni Williams. Look like the old Giovanni Williams. Now, if they can do that again this week and I think they will focus on running the football this week against the Raiders, they can run the ball and just kind of, you know, take some of the pressure off of bone X. When you can't run the ball, the quarterbacks got all the pressure on his shoulders. And when you're a rookie quarterback, that can be overwhelming. And we've seen it with him. So run the ball, play that good defense. And that's the formula to win football games, especially with a rookie quarterback. It looks like betting odds did have the Broncos edge as the favorites. Do you see it the same way? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I think the Broncos win this game. I think the, I think the Broncos probably win the next two games. And it's because of the defense. This defense is way better than people thought they were going to be. And they just got off four games against four, probably playoff teams. And the defense played really, really well in those four games. And so they've run the gauntlet. This is a young team. I think they're battle tested down and they're ready to make a bit of a run here at these next four games. I'm assuming he's not playing this weekend. But what do we know about Tyler bidet at this point? You know what? They're not saying much about him. Uh, it looks like they may put him on the IR, but they're not really saying what really happened. They're just saying a back injury. Did you see it? Because my thought was it looked like he got hit and it's almost like, you know, how you get hit and you get hit in the kidney and that can be very painful. I don't know what you saw from your perch, if that was what it was. Cause it's like, when he went down, it was like, Oh, you know what? That's like, it's like getting that solar plexus kind of kidney hit. That's exactly what I saw. Yeah, a helmet right to the, the small. Yeah. And if you've ever gotten that, that is debilitated. I've had it and I'm sure you've probably had it happen as well. And then he, he was able to walk off the field, but once you got off the field, he got on his back on the sideline and was riding it paid. He looked like, you know, something really, really bad happened where we were speculating, well, maybe, you know, he ruptured a kidney or a spleen or something like that, but they have not said that. They just had a back injury. And I don't think we'll see him anytime soon. I think they'll put them on the, uh, the four game I are. The Broncos take on the Raiders Sunday and empower field at mile high. Rick, are you looking forward to the throwback uniforms? Uh, yeah, just like everybody else. And, you know, I liked what they're doing too. It's a 1977 throwback and apparently the field, they designed the field to look like 1977 as well. So the whole thing is a throwback weekend. They're going to play music from the seventies in the stadium. And, you know, high funder, all that stuff, man. It's going to be a really good weekend. Plus it's alumni weekend. A lot of the former players will be back there. And I'm really looking forward to it. Honoring Randy Gratashar for the Hall, Steve Foley and the ring of fame. That's, that's cool. All that stuff. And in a lot of, a lot of former players on the field and yeah, it's going to be a big weekend and empower field. A quick question. Chris Christofferson, you talk about a real renaissance man in, in his passing, what he was, musician, artist, everything that he did, military service. Oh, he wrote scholar. That guy, what an impressive man. Yeah. Yeah. As you mentioned, Rhodes Scholar. He's in the rock and roll Hall of Fame and the country music Hall of Fame. One of the best songwriters that ever lived and a really good actor. In fact, last night, I went back and watched the 1976 version of a star is born. Yeah. Yeah. And that's what made him a star. I mean, he was still kind of struggling until that happened. And then his career blew up after that. And he was great in that movie. Yeah. I highly recommend people, if you, if you're not aware that he did that film with Barbara Streisand in 76, go back and watch it. It's really good. And it wasn't. It's an underrated football movie, but relationship moves semi tough. That's right. Yeah. Tiller. That actually is one of my personal favorites just because it has the football theme, but it's a relationship type movie. I think Chris Christofferson was one of the coolest dudes. Yeah. He was a man's man and women loved him. You know, he was a gentleman. He was a man's man, but he didn't have to put it out there all the time for people. You just knew because of how he was. Right. Yeah. He was an army ranger. I don't know if you mentioned that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I was a big fan of his. Yeah. Very good. I'm shocked you didn't call me. Well, I'm sorry. We got much more impactful luck on Monday. I'll just say. Oh, so the Rick Lewis show on one oh three five, the Fox and Broncos color analysts. It's Rick Lewis. Thanks, Rick. Appreciate us.
