Today I'm joined once again by Jose Vega, welcome to the programme Jose. Thank you for having me. It's a pleasure as always now. Today, although the election has just happened and so on, we want to talk about Dr. Mark Perlmutter. Is that how you pronounce his name, first of all? That's right. Yep. Super. And so he was supposed to be giving a presentation to Mount Sinai, where at Mount Sinai Hospital. I think on Friday was it, but what happened around that? Dr. Mark Perlmutter, this doctor who was in Gaza for three weeks who himself is of Jewish faith, he was supposed to speak at Mount Sinai Hospital, which is a hospital here in New York that was opened, I think, in the 1850s or so. And it was one of the hospitals that was seen as a safe haven for Jews in New York City. It was actually called the Jew Hospital or the Jewish Hospital. And so Mark Perlmutter was supposed to speak at this hospital and give a lecture on what he saw and give a presentation. But the doctors there, the administration, the staff, the faculty that were working in, they're not everyone there, but a large voice was heard there where they were saying that they thought Dr. Mark Perlmutter was going to come and spread anti-Semitism and hatred and that he should not be heard. And he was allowed to be there that there might be violence at Mount Sinai. And so as a result, Mount Sinai decided to cancel his talk the day before scheduled to speak, even though this was supposed to be, this was known about for a few weeks before. And where did this, was this pressure coming from people at the hospital or was somebody actually suggesting to people at the hospital that this might be the case? Yeah, this was coming from people within the hospital and people outside the hospital who were getting wind that this was happening. There were, of course, Mount Sinai students who wanted to come to the talk. There were doctors and nurses in the Mount Sinai that wanted to come to the presentation as well, but there was just a large portion of people in the hospital and outside the hospital who were getting to the dean, who were writing to the faculty saying that whoever is organizing this event should be disciplined to the fullest. You stepped in at this point to find a new venue? That's correct. So Diane, Sarah and I have a joint fund where both of our campaigns can pool our resources together. And so we found an alternate venue just a few blocks away from where it was originally supposed to be held. And about 75 people ended up coming to Dr. Mark Perlmutter's presentation anyway. So we found an alternate venue, we got the word out as to where the new venue was. We made sure we had some security there and people were still able to come and listen to his presentation. And we had a Zoom option as well. And the Zoom room was at capacity. There were about 100 people who got into the Zoom. We couldn't fit anymore. There were people who were trolling the chat. There were people who were trying to disrupt the event via Zoom. Thankfully, we had our moderation tools on. And the word was spreading and getting out that Mark Perlmutter ended up being heard anyway by Mount Sinai students and Mount Sinai nurses and doctors. Well, we're going to say Mark Perlmutter's presentation in a second. But I mean, what has the response been to it? I mean, Mark has been, you know, thankfully he's been heard in places, you know, his colleague, Dr. Ferro Sidwa, published an article in New York detailing the photos of the children with bullets in their heads and their hearts that were done by IDF soldiers. So Mark, excuse me, Dr. Perlmutter has been able to, as a result of the censorship, only allow his voice to grow, you know, louder and louder. And the response has just been overwhelming. When we saw the people in the room watching and listening to his presentation, you could see the sort of disgust in their face, you know, people are uncomfortable to sit through because the truth is uncomfortable to sit through. But overall, people have been sharing the video, sharing the presentation, and platforms like yours are about to also platform the presentation. We should say it is a tough watch. He'll say there's no question about that. But as you say, this is the reality of day to day life at the moment. And you know, I don't know what the rules are in the United States, but in the United Kingdom for that presentation to be broadcast on television, that would be against the broadcast code in this country. And so as a result, the majority of people in this country don't understand what warfare actually is, what it means. And so I'm hoping, and the main reason that I want to show this is to try to reach the people that are taking a, particularly people that are taking a pro-Israel position at the moment and ask them whether they are prepared to maintain that pro-Israel position once they've seen this presentation. Yeah, well, you know, I will, I'll tell you this, I was in, I was in Riverdale, which is a big part of the district that I was running in that is largely pro-Israel. And we were there with a sound car. So we were going around with a truck, and I was saying on the, on the, on the bullhorn that, hey, you know, the IDF soldiers are shooting children and they have, there's proof of this. There's evidence of this. There are bullet wounds in the heads and hearts of children, and what I got from a lot of people who call themselves pro-Israel was that's not true. That's not true. See, because they have to tell themselves it's not true, because if they actually thought it was true, then they would have to do something about it, right? So I think a lot of people, hopefully, if they watch through this presentation, sit through it, and if they call themselves pro-Israel, consider again, if this is true, what does this mean, and what is it that I should be doing this, because I think a lot of people and Dr. Mark Perlmutter would say this too. He thinks that, you know, there's a difference between patriotism and Zionism and the way he's spoken to people who are pro-Israeli is he says, well, if you want Israel to continue to exist, it has to come to terms and its people have to come to terms with what it's doing. Okay, Jose, well, I'm going to say thank you very much for joining me today to record this short introduction. Without further ado, let's just listen to Dr. Mark Perlmutter. The following is a presented talk by Dr. Mark Perlmutter, an orthopedic hand and foot surgeon from North Carolina who spoke at an event on November 1, 2024 in East Harlem, New York. Dr. Mark Perlmutter spent three weeks in the Gaza Strip, tending mainly to wounded children who were targeted by Israeli forces. He is the president of the World Surgical Foundation and past president of the International College of Surgeons. The event was organized by Jose Vega, an independent candidate for U.S. Congress in the Bronx running in the 15th District and who is also a part of the Vega-Sare Peace Fund. This event was organized to make sure Dr. Mark Perlmutter's voice was heard after a previous event scheduled the day before it was canceled at the ICONS School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The talk was co-moderated by Jose Vega and Dr. Salman Khan, a professor of medicine and specialists in infectious diseases at Columbia University. All right, so I just want to congratulate everybody who decided to come out here and know there was an environment of AIDS, so-called AIDS speech and so-called anti-Semitism that shut down the original venue. I think that that's horrible and I want to congratulate all of you for deciding to come out here anyway. We were able to start again with another venue so that Dr. Mark Perlmutter could be heard here. You'll see there's another gentleman to his side who will be co-moderating with me. He is Dr. Salman Khan, and he is here. With Robinhood Gold, you don't need a silver spoon to eat up the financial favors of the 1%.
